The Monster Metropolis is under attack by the Zombiotes! Deadpool, Andi Benton, Princess the Symbiote Hyena/Dog and the monsters are fighting off the Zombiote invaders when they see Jimmy Hudson has turned into Poison the creature which assimilates the symbiotes and mind-controls them. Andi Benton tries to cure Man-Thing by using her Anti-Venom to purge the Zombiote influence from the monster but she gets herself burnt. Fortunately, Andi's Anti-Venom cure did work as Man-Thing is finally turned back to normal. After fighting off those Zombiotes, Deadpool gives a speech as he assembles the monsters to fight and defeat the Zombiotes in New York. The Frankenstein's Monster protests against the idea as he blames Deadpool for bringing the Zombiotes to Monster Metropolis (even though it wasn't really his fault) and he wants the monsters to be left alone. Deadpool replies that even if he did not bring the Zombiotes with him, both the Surface World and the Underground would be destroyed if the Zombiotes are not stopped.
After a rallying speech, Deadpool brings the monster allies with him to fight the Zombiotes in the streets of New York. Deadpool, Andi Benton, Princess the Symbiote Hyena/Dog and the monsters battle the Zombiotes and save the civilians at the same time. Unfortunately for them, Jimmy Hudson in his Poison mode, starts to go berserk from both the berserker rage and the Poison influence that he attacks anyone in his way whether they are enemies or friends. Simon Garth (a.k.a Zombie) is stabbed by Poison-Jimmy Hudson but since he is undead, he doesn't die again. The other monsters try to restrain Poison-Jimmy but it doesn't work.

Summaries under the cut
Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham and Mary R. Walsh
Nathaniel Bowditch grew up in a sailor’s world—Salem in the early days, when tall-masted ships from foreign ports crowded the wharves. But Nat didn’t promise to have the makings of a sailor; he was too physically small. Nat may have been slight of build, but no one guessed that he had the persistence and determination to master sea navigation in the days when men sailed only by “log, lead, and lookout.” Nat’s long hours of study and observation, collected in his famous work, The American Practical Navigator (also known as the “Sailors’ Bible”), stunned the sailing community and made him a New England hero.
Un Lun Dun by China Mieville
What is Un Lun Dun? It is London through the looking glass, an urban Wonderland of strange delights where all the lost and broken things of London end up . . . and some of its lost and broken people, too–including Brokkenbroll, boss of the broken umbrellas; Obaday Fing, a tailor whose head is an enormous pin-cushion, and an empty milk carton called Curdle. Un Lun Dun is a place where words are alive, a jungle lurks behind the door of an ordinary house, carnivorous giraffes stalk the streets, and a dark cloud dreams of burning the world. It is a city awaiting its hero, whose coming was prophesied long ago, set down for all time in the pages of a talking book.
When twelve-year-old Zanna and her friend Deeba find a secret entrance leading out of London and into this strange city, it seems that the ancient prophecy is coming true at last. But then things begin to go shockingly wrong.
Malory Towers by Enid Blyton
Darrell Rivers begins her happy life at Malory Towers two terms later than the other girls, but she soon makes firm friends with Sally, the steady one, and the adoring Mary Lou.
The Littles by John Peterson
The Littles live in the walls of the Biggs' house. But when the Biggs go on vacation a messy family comes to stay, the trouble begins. Mice! Cats! How much can one small family take? Will Tom and Lucy, the littlest Littles of all, be able to save the day?
The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas
In a city that runs on a dwindling supply of magic, a young boy is drawn into a life of wizardry and adventure. Conn should have dropped dead the day he picked Nevery's pocket and touched the wizard's locus magicalicus, a stone used to focus magic and work spells. But for some reason he did not. Nevery finds that interesting, and he takes Conn as his apprentice on the provision that the boy find a locus stone of his own. But Conn has little time to search for his stone between wizard lessons and helping Nevery discover who or what is stealing the city of Wellmet's magic.
100 Cupboards by N. D. Wilson
Twelve-year-old Henry York is going to sleep one night when he hears a bump on the attic wall above his head. It's an unfamiliar house—Henry is staying with his aunt, uncle, and three cousins—so he tries to ignore it. But the next night he wakes up with bits of plaster in his hair. Two knobs have broken through the wall, and one of them is slowly turning...
Henry scrapes the plaster off the wall and discovers doors—ninety-nine cupboards of all different sizes and shapes. Through one he can hear the sound of falling rain. Through another he sees a glowing room—with a man strolling back and forth! Henry and his cousin Henrietta soon understand that these are not just cupboards. They are, in fact, portals to other worlds.
Dear Dumb Diary by Jim Benton
Read the hilarious, candid, (and sometimes not-so-nice,) diaries of Jamie Kelly, who promises that everything in her diary is true...or at least as true as it needs to be.
School was okay today. Actually, it was better than okay. Angeline got her long, beautiful hair tangled in one of the jillion things she has dangling from her backpack, and the school nurse -- who is now one of my main heroes -- took a pair of scissors and snipped two feet of silky blond hair from the left side of her head, so now Angeline only looks like The Prettiest Girl in the World if you're standing on her right. (Although personally, I think she would look better if I was standing on her neck.)
The Great Brain by John D. Fitzgerald
The best con man in the Midwest is only ten years old. Tom, a.k.a., the Great Brain, is a silver-tongued genius with a knack for turning a profit. When the Jenkins boys get lost in Skeleton Cave, the Great Brain saves the day. Whether it's saving the kids at school, or helping out Peg-leg Andy, or Basil, the new kid at school, the Great Brain always manages to come out on top—and line his pockets in the process.
Mumintrullen by Tove Jansson

Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones
A humorous fantasy from Diana Wynne Jones. In a world next door to ours, the tourist industry is devastating the population by its desire to experience all the fantasy clichés - Dark Lords, impoverished villages, dragons etc.
The Head of the University resolves to shut the tours down; the only problem being the ruthless tour-master - and his all-powerful demons. To save them all, the incompetent wizard Derk is appointed as Dark Lord in the hope that he will ruin the tours, and sure enough proceeds to fail at everything due to his general uselessness. But can failing at everything lead to a win this time?

COVER REVEAL!!
Very excited to share this amazing cover for my upcoming anthology illustrated by Emma Rose and designed by Laura Benton! Why On Earth: An Alien Invasion Anthology asks the bold question what if teenage aliens crashed into the Santa Monica pier and what if it was funny?
It's got:
falling in love
amusement parks
a singing bass
aliens for gay rights
road trips
cows
All the stories are interconnected and take place during the same event all on the same day! Some stories follow humans reacting to the crash, some are about the aliens trying to complete a rescue mission, and others are about moments of first contact. At its core, this anthology is about connection, whether human or alien.
Why On Earth releases Febraury 4th 2025 from Page Street Publishing and we can't wait to share it with you! You can pre-order it now wherever books are sold!

Diane Clarke was just 10 when she went through two life-changing losses. First, she lost her mother, who was stabbed to death in her own home. Then, she lost her father – the person who had killed her mother.
Pauline Benton, 32, was killed by her husband in 1978 after she told him she was seeing another man. Her death followed a “loveless” marriage in which she was allegedly controlled by her husband, who treated her as though she was a “possession”.
“When we got to the top of our street and there were blue flashing lights, I knew something was up,” Clarke tells The Independent. “All the neighbours were outside the house. There were ambulances and police cars there.”
The now 56-year-old recalls trying to go into her home in Cannock, Staffordshire, but being sent to her neighbour’s instead. Frustrated that nobody would explain what was going on, she had to wait until the next day for her grandfather to tell her news that no child should ever have to hear.
Clarke’s father was charged with her mother’s murder, which he denied, but he admitted manslaughter. He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to three years in prison.
Clarke visited him in jail while living with her mother’s parents. Then, when he was released, she and her brother went to live with him again. As a child who could not fully understand the magnitude of what had happened, Clarke wanted to live with her father again, but now desperately wishes she had remained with her grandparents.
While Clarke’s situation may sound deeply shocking, she is not alone. Men who kill their partners in the UK automatically hold on to parental responsibility for their children – even if they are in prison. It means they remain in control of their children’s lives – including choosing where they live, and deciding on their healthcare needs, for example – unless a court removes parental responsibility.
Jade’s Law
With families up and down the country facing this situation, Labour has lent its backing to Jade’s Law: a proposed piece of legislation that would withdraw parental responsibility from a mother or father found guilty of murdering their child’s other parent.
In its current form, the proposed law – named after 27-year-old Jade Ward, who was stabbed and strangled in her home by her ex-partner Russell Marsh as their four young sons slept – would not cover a situation like Clarke’s, because her father was convicted of manslaughter, not murder.
But the mother of two, now a domestic abuse campaigner, is calling for the law to be broadened in order to cover both crimes when domestic abuse is involved.
‘Play fighting’
Clarke tells The Independent that her mother met another man, which she saw as her “way out” of the toxic relationship with Clarke’s father. It was when she finally plucked up the courage to tell her husband the truth that he turned violent.
A newspaper cutting about the case describes how Benton’s husband – “incensed” at hearing of her six-month affair – “plunged a bread knife into her chest”.
“It was sold in the newspapers and in the court as she asked for it because she had an affair,” says Clarke.
Court reports said Clarke’s father was a “normally placid man”, but a social enquiry report used in the case, seen by The Independent, quotes Benton’s father describing him as a “jealous man” who tended to treat his wife as “a possession”.
Clarke remembers how her father, who was married to her mother for 15 years, would physically fight with his wife until she would go into the bedroom crying. Her father would refer to this as “play fighting”, she says.
“My relationship with my mum wasn’t good, because my dad was getting me to mock her and abuse her as well,” she recalls. “So when he killed her, I missed my dad more than I missed my mum.”
While her father was in prison, Clarke spent her time looking after her mother’s parents, who were “wrapped up in their own pain”.
“They were on Valium. They were drinking,” Clarke recalls. “I was looking after them. They’ve lost their daughter, their daughter has been killed, you know – they’re devastated.”
She says nobody checked to see if she was coping when she started at a new school, and recalls the “traumatic” experience of sitting making a Mother’s Day card, which she addressed to her grandmother.
“I was getting bullied at that school by this time, as well, because I was getting more and more vulnerable. I didn’t tell anybody I was being bullied.”
‘I was having nightmares’
Living with the man who had killed her mother wasn’t easy. Describing the situation after he was released from prison, Clarke says she played the role of mum, doing the cleaning, washing and cooking, and feeling “desperately, desperately alone” while doing so.
“I was having nightmares,” she adds. “Somebody was trying to kill me in the dreams. I’ve always thought ‘I’ve got to be careful what I say or do, because what if he kills me?’ And even though he’s an old man now, I still have that fear.”
After leaving school, she “hit rock bottom”, getting into a relationship with a violent boyfriend and making an attempt to kill herself. Clarke is still vaguely in touch with her father, but effectively considers herself an orphan.
“If I saw him in the street, I would try and avoid talking to him,” she says. “But if I came face to face, the inner child would just be happy and pleasing and say hello and be respectful towards him, because that was the way I survived when I lived with him.”
Speaking to The Independent about Jade’s Law – which was debated in parliament at the end of last year – Ellie Reeves, the shadow minister for prisons and probation, urged the government to take action.
The Labour MP for Lewisham West and Penge, who leads on violence against women and girls in the justice team, said: “It is shocking that, as the law currently stands, killers retain parental responsibility after murdering their child’s mother – enabling them to continually abuse and assert control over their children even from prison.
“Labour has called for Jade’s Law to automatically suspend parental rights for fathers who have murdered their child’s mother. This will put the rights of victims above those of perpetrators, and work to end violence against women and girls. That is how we will prevent crime and protect families.”
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told The Independent: “Judges are required to put the welfare of children first, and can effectively remove all rights and powers from a parent who has murdered the other.”
Responding to the Jade’s Law petition, the government said it recognises that in situations where a parent is convicted of the murder of another parent, the process can be “onerous”.
Dr Adrienne Barnett, who specialised in family law while practising as a barrister for more than 30 years, told The Independent it is “incredibly rare” for a father’s parental responsibility to be withdrawn, “even in the most heinous and harrowing circumstances”.
Hazel Mercer, of Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse, says the families she supports after domestic homicide find the fact that perpetrators still have parental rights “highly traumatic”.
The national domestic abuse helpline offers support for women on 0808 2000 247, or you can visit the Refuge website. There is a dedicated men’s advice line on 0808 8010 327. Those in the US can call the domestic violence hotline on 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). Other international helplines can be found via www.befrienders.org

Requested by @cayennesugar
Quickshadow's in Russia, she's on a mission from Optimus, the thing is that now it's winter and in Russia it's way colder than Griffin Rock or U.S in general,-15 celsius degrees or 5 fahrenheit degrees (I think)
She was driving on the streets even if it was this cold, people were still outside
"How does these humans survive in this cold weather..?" she thought to herself, begging that her engine won't stop from this cold or something
It was snowing as well..Great,exactly what she needed. She was so sure that she's going to get a cold after this
After finishing what she had to do she drove to a place so no one could see her. When she got there and tried to use her built in groundbridge, she realised that it won't open,it was stuck!
The thing is that in Russia it was 3pm which means that in Griffin Rock or the mainland is 5am,which meant that the others are asleep
"Frag..now how will I get back..?" She asked worried
She decided to give it a try,she tried to contact Salvage,no answer,Blurr, no answer...
She contacted everyone,on answer since they were all sleeping, she tried to turn on her engine to turn the heater on to atleast heat her inside but now her engine wasn't turning on.Great
"Looks like I might freeze on this very day.." she sighed, knowing that there was nothing she could do she couldn't move and no one was answering
She was lost in thought till he heard a beep
"Shadow..?"
When she heard Heatwave's voice she thanked the Primes that he was awake
"H-Heatwave thank Primus..do you m-mind opening the g-groundbridge for me..?" she said
"Not at all but..where are you?" Heatwave asked
"R-Russia,I-I had a mission from Optimus and n-now I'm basically freezing to death so pplease come q-quickly.." She answered
Without hesitating,Heatwave jumped out of the berth, went to the groundbridge and turned it out to her location. After he opened it,there was no sign of her
"Uh where are you?" Heatwave asked, confused
"O-Oh I forgot to m-mention that I can't turn on my engine so m-mind coming to..p-pick me?"
Hearing that Heatwave quickly ran through the portal meeting with a wave of coldness, worse than on Griffin Rock,he looked around and noticed a white Ausely Benton who was covered in snow he quickly ran to her, picked her up and ran back to the portal before it closed.
Heatwave puts Quickshadow down before asking
"Can you transform?"
"I don't think I can but I can try.." she said trying to transform,a few tries later she managed to transform into bot mode, she was covered in snow, shaking
"Let's go to the shower, can you walk?"
She shakes her head so Heatwave quickly picks her and carries her to his berthroom and into his washracks, turning on the hot solvent (or whatever they use to wash,I'll call it solvent, please correct me if this is not the word) and placed her into the bathtub washing her
Eventually after she washed her,he wrapped her in a towel, picked her up and carried her to his berth, putting her on it and wrapping the blankets around her
She quickly snuggled into the blankets shivering, she was so cold and the thing was that she dislikes cold with her spark
As she was getting comfortable in his berth,Heatwave went to the kitchen and made her some warm energon soup
After a while he finally finished and came back
"You're back.." she smiles softly at him
"Of course, how could I leave my angel all alone?" he smirked
"Teasing as ever ey?.." She chuckles
"I know you like it.Now eat this,I'd make you feel better" He took the spoon and began to feed her
Surpringly she accepted it,maybe because she's cold or maybe she just enjoys being pampered by him
After she ate,Heatwave placed the empty bowl on the nightstand and layed down besides her pulling her close
"I'm sorry.." Heatwave apologised
"Whatever for?" She asked, curious. Why on earth would he apologise
"For not answering the first time you called..what if I didn't pick up your call..what if-" he said but he was silenced by Quickshadow's digits
"This isn't your fault, you didn't know where I was. This was a last minute mission from Optimus that I was informed after you all fell asleep plus if you didn't answer I would've freezed up to death so thank you for saving me.." she said burying her face in his chassis, smiling softly
No problem.." He blushes
He cuddles her, rubbing her back,he knew that she didn't like the cold so he was trying to warm her up
"Are you feeling better?.." Heatwave asked hoping that she was feeling better
She nods as she closed her optics, looks like she was sleepy
"Sleepy huh"? He chuckles as she pulled a fetal position which made her look even smaller than she was
"Yea it's not exactly pleasant driving for 6 hours straight during a snowstorm" she sighed
"Eh can't blame you,try to get some rest okay?" Hr rubbed the back of her helm as she eventually drifted off to sleep
Now Heatwave was begging that she won't get a cold considering that she's not a fan of it then looking at the clock and seeing that it was 6:30am,he decided to go to sleep as well since it was still early. They both slept good, well Heatwave slept till 1pm and Quickshadow slept the whole day.
