The real reason Kalim has so much jewelry is that when he moves it makes noise so Jamil can know where Kalim is at every waking second. It's like putting a bell on a cat. Except the cat is very talkative regardless, but it helps when someone is trying to steal or hurt said talkative and friendly cat.

Orym is giving very "I have fallen in love again and that feels like a betrayal to my dead husband" energy.
He's also giving "I care so much about my friends and I have to protect them but the love I have for one is so strong that it's distracting me AND it's not fair to the others"
Like there is so much love contained in the Orym and also so much guilt.

so REVENGE, HUH? or justice, if that makes you feel better. it tastes the same when cooked just right. 'I REALLY WANTED A BROTHER.' such a shame to burn a bridge you so desperately wanted to keep, especially when it wasnt even you who started the fire. especially when you hope that not a single fragment of that bridge ever washes ashore.[MAY IT ROT FAR FROM MY SIGHTS]
an unfortunate loss! atleast he has his friends.

i know travis guiding them was 100% travis and not in character as chet bc he didn’t even have the voice going, but i also would like to imagine that chet did exactly that.
i like it generally bc he has moments like that where he drops the chaos when things get serious (i’ll never forget watching him and orym talk about will and realizing that oh god, under all those layers of whatever the fuck is going on with him, he cares so much).
but i really like it in this specific situation too bc i’m pretty sure imogen was the one to step up after his confession and immediately say they weren’t going to leave him, and i can totally see him avoiding the conversation in the moment but then stepping up to guide her and taking it really seriously out of appreciation.

MC Heath's chatter line about being able to move his arms weirdly while he sounds genuinely happy makes me sick he is so dear to me
LET'S ALL APPRECIATE THIS LINE HE IS SO ANNOYING GOD BLESS
there rly is something so bittersweet about this ID... that little self-esteem moment about his career in uptie chatter 2, then this one with that pride he shows at times about his body & strength... and at the same time that feeling that it's all for naught. the second of hesitation when he thinks abt what in his mind could POSSIBLY be worth returning to... you need someone to share it with. even if the person who loves you isn't here you can at least show your manager who has been trying to be your friend... argh!!

i give simon a lot of shit for his uselessness but honestly having to protect delta from that kind of abuse was never his job in the first place it was not what he signed up for at all. but simultaneously it is his job to represent delta since he is obviously not able or permitted to do it himself. like he knew damn well that nobody else was looking out for him and he still failed to act. >:(
when i think about how lonely delta must have been on that ship it makes me so so sad. i had a hard time getting into rubies at first because its hard for me to write comfort but i feel like i seriously have to make up the lost time to him.

(These thoughts brought to you by Clipping’s “Story”) One reason I’m drawn to family plotlines in a fallout setting, especially within the NCR, is because the mechanisms of maintaining an imperialist culture closely mimic the mechanisms of maintaining control over one’s children. All the chatter in-game about “soldier’s families” and how grueling and inconvenient it is for the NCR to be in the Mojave at all is used by the characters as unspoken reasoning for why they deserve control over the area in the first place: they’ve given sooooo much, their lives are sooooo hard, you’re not gonna let all that go to waste are you?
But it’s an untruth of the sort that you’d usually get out of a toxic, self-victimizing parent. The one who is actively and consistently upholding oppressive systems when they’re not complaining about how traumatizing it is to be apart of those systems. They’re not lying per se, this is a horrible situation for your average NCR soldier. They’re just leaving out the part where they choose this, they control these circumstances, and they stand to benefit the most from them. Very Dad of them.
