{ halston sage ♔ twenty four ♔ she/her } well, well, well if it isn’t serenity ‘ren’ sykes running around peach hollow. legend has it, she comes from blueberry boulevard and has lived here her whole life. if you’re wondering what she’s been up to, i hear she’s a preschool teacher/cam girl for a living. she has been known to be reticent yet effervescent. a word of advice to them, always look over your shoulder. you never know who is watching.
HEADS UP: TW FOR CHILD DEATH, TERMINAL ILLNESS AND MENTIONS OF VIOLENCE
in the year 1990, howard and celia sykes gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named michael, mikey for short. he was their entire world, and little did the two know – their entire world would stop spinning a mere four years later.
howard was a truck driver, the breadwinner in the family, while celia stayed home with mikey. during a routine check up when the boy was just three years old, the doctor made a startling discovery – mikey was in kidney failure.
howard began picking up more and more shifts, needing the extra cash to pay for medical bills. he was away a good bit, and every time he came home, there was an argument about how he was away too much – but they needed the money.
despite how hard the doctors tried and how hard the little boy fought, his kidneys failed completely and they were unable to find a match for a new one quick enough. he passed away in 1994.
it was never a question as to whether or not howard and celia would have another child – and in 1995, serenity eileen was born. they went with that name hoping that it would manifest a little peace into their strained relationship. when in doubt, don’t pull out, right?
much to their dismay, serenity was a pretty rebellious toddler and child. when something was asked of her, particularly by her mother, ren did the exact opposite – and that’s when they started calling her ren instead of serenity. the irony was too much for celia.
however, her father saw her at her best. it was rare to hear her talk back to him, or to even disobey. their bond was unbreakable, a daddy’s girl since birth. he often took up for ren, even when she was in the wrong, which caused even more strain between her parents. to this day, celia firmly believes that serenity’s birth was the downfall of her relationship with howard.
they put her in different sports and activities in an attempt to get rid of all of the negative energy she had, but her mother just packed more and more negativity in her life. they never had a good relationship. when they finally found the activity she enjoyed most, both parents were a little disheartened to find out it was jiu jitsu. celia’s dream for a little cheerleader went down the drain.
the calls from her principal started rolling in when she was in middle school. fights, talking back to teachers, asking all the wrong questions – and there was even a point where her parents contemplated home schooling, but howard knew celia wouldn’t be able to handle it, and so they tried their best to keep her out of trouble.
she mellowed out a little in high school, but wasn’t popular. a lot of kids made fun of her for being a loner, but she preferred it. it let her go home to her books and her writing. it let her go to the dojo more often.
they put her in a peer mentor program where she worked with young kids who were in trouble like she had been, and that was when she decided she wanted to teach. serenity busted her ass her last two years of high school and got into winchester where she received her bachelor’s in early elementary education.
she moved into an apartment at tangerine towers as soon as she turned 18, and lived there for many years, until the same disease that took her brother attacked her father.
without a second thought, ren broke her lease and moved back home. howard had told her how absent celia was – never home, avoided him when she did come home, and he was getting sicker. he needed help, someone who could provide financially and emotionally. her return home lead to ren catching her mother kissing another man before getting out of his car and going into the house – and this was when serenity snapped.
it started off as a screaming match in the middle of her kitchen. this was about a year ago. she went in on her mother about the verbal abuse she received as a child and about how sick she had to be to cheat on her terminally ill husband. they exchanged horrible words until ren had her mother pinned in the corner of the kitchen. she shoved her, and celia called the police. she pressed charges, but when serenity went to court, her mother didn’t show, the charges were dropped, and she was able to return to work. she has no contact with celia.
she has taken over sole care of her father battling end stage renal failure. she takes him back and forth to dialysis, prepares his meals and keeps him company. she had to drop from an all day pre-k teacher to half day, so she’s off work by noon and can take care of her dad – but half of a teacher’s salary isn’t enough to get them by. not even a little.
in the past six months, ren has become quite popular on o*lyf*ns and various other sites. it allows her to make the income she needs to keep her dad comfortable towards the end of his life, but she is constantly worried that one of her student’s parents will find out and she will lose her job, especially with having the assault charge not too long ago – dropped or not, it was still there and still public record.
she’s a superhero!! teacher by day, cam girl by night – doing the lord’s work
PERSONALITY & FUN FACTS
despite her past, ren really is an approachable gal. she has a contagious smile and likes to flash it whenever she can. she’s never met a stranger and can talk to just about anyone, but don’t let that fool you. it’s likely that you don’t know much about her at all.
being reticent, ren often hides parts of her life – like anything that isn’t her day job. it’s hard to get past small talk with her at times because she is vacuum sealed. nothing slips out. of course, she has close friends that she trusts with her secrets – just not the cam girl one.
she can be overzealous and effervescent upon first meeting, but that’s to hide how deeply sad she is. if she’s over the top happy, then how could anyone suspect what was going on at home?
she loves parties! she isn’t a rager, but loves kicking back with a beer and spilling her guts to a stranger she will never see again, or so she hopes.
ren is a very good listener and people often go to her for advice and consolation. she’s good at it and takes pride in it.
loyal to a fault, serenity will kick someone’s ass to protect her loved ones.
can definitely be a hot head but tries her best to keep it under control
mommy issues lol
still practices jiu jitsu and has now taken up kick boxing!!
has three lil gray cats named huey, dewey, and louie. they’re brothers
if her nails are chipped, she’s not in a good place tbh
adrenalin junkie
WANTED CONNECTIONS
i imagine she has a handful of childhood friends, maybe people who saw all the shit her mother put her through??
the adrenalin junkie pal who will do ANYTHING with her and vice versa. cliff diving? graffiti? anything!!!!
a ride or die or two
perhaps a current fling or two
exes, mainly flings since it’s hard for her to let someone in
THE BIG ONE!!! she was with this person in college and they had plans to be together forever but when her father got sick, ren pushed them away and things have never been the same
enemies… for literally any reason
idk hit me up lmao

Project Wolf´s Cove
One – Tumbling towards catastrophe
The road ahead was winding, following a cliff´s edge. It was summer and therefore a bright day even though it was still early in the morning. It was definitely summer and the radio kept reminding its listeners of that fact. For the moment, however, the summer hits where too distracting. Becky turned the car radio off. She then returned to the conversation she had with her friend Rose who was sitting in the passenger seat. “The film wasn´t a period piece.”, Becky insisted. “It was set in a period in the past.”, Rose gave back. “No! The film is not on the nose about it, but it was set in the future. The future from when it was produced anyway.” Rose frowned at this just to reiterate: “Yes, and this means that it was still set ten years ago. That is the past. I cannot remember ten years ago, not with a living memory. It might as well be a chapter in a history book. Plus that it is a time ten years ago as imagined by people living 40 years ago. So this is like a page in a fictional history book from a freak dimension.” Becky laughed. She gave in: “Okay.” “Well, that is not my point anyway.”, Rose continued in a mockingly serious voice. “The man issue I wanted to raise was that the protagonist was absolutely alien to me. Not because he lived in a different time, mind you. I had issues with him because of how he acted.” “You mean how he dealt with a world full of isolated people and ravaged by a virus?”, Becky injected. “Yes! The illness is obviously transmitted from person to person. So you keep away from the next best person. Problem solved. The so-called protagonist, on the other hand, did it all wrong, sacrificing not only his life but also the one of his gal-pal.” “She was severely underdeveloped as a character. That was more scary then their fate actually.”, Becky observed. “True. There was just one reason the dude did dude around with her, mouthing about and ruining it all.”, Rose summarized. “Even if he made decisions for others that were not his to make, I think his motivations where understandable. You can’t be alone for all eternity.”, said Becky, while she turned on to the parking lot of Wolf´s Cove High School. “There needs to be a sense of community. If you can’t interact with the ones you actually spent time with, how do you know that you even exist and that you are not just an idea of a person that might be easily forgotten? Apart from that, loneliness hurts if it is not voluntary.” “Okay, fair. You raise some good points as well. I see a use for people in the plural there.”, Rose conceded. “Still, there is a danger to closeness that is not always only down to emotions.” She was quiet for a moment while she and Becky got out of the car, took their backpacks, and went towards the school entrance. “The thing is…”, Rose continued right before they climbed the four steps to the grand double doors. “You get only to take a limited number of breaths on this crummy planet. So you might as well be selective as to who you spent them with.” Becky smiled at her friend. “I thought I was.”
Biking to school always seemed like a good idea when the weather was clear and bright. That was until the last part of the road served as stark reminder that it was more sweaty than fun to bike upwards the serpentines leading to the cliff top where the school was located. John remembered that now. “This was not a good idea.”, John managed to say while slowing down despite putting all the more effort into cycling. His legs started to hurt. Neil nodded: “Fnaf.” “What?” “Fair enough.”, Neil pressed out. “Should it not be fen then?”, John wondered and had to slow down to do so. Neil shrugged and both continued their track up towards the high school in silence. Finally they made it to the big main parking lot and chained their bikes to a lantern there. They noticed Becky’s car as the only one parked here at this early hour. “Oh boy, if I’d known Becky would be here this early as well, I’d have asked her if she could pick us up on her way. Maybe next time. She’d surely do it.”, said Neil shaking his head. John just grunted and then decided to say defensively: “I do not think she is here that early regularly. No one but you is.” “And you, fellow friend and confidant. However, someone has to man the commissary and make sure that it is open when all the breakfast-skipping students arrive hungry from the long way up.”, said Neil. The two made their way to the side entrance of the main building. “I am not a fan of that name. When you say it, I can almost hear boots and trumpets.”, John commented. “The food stall then. After we’ve got rid of the old and truly awful name, we have no official title for it. I’ll still call it commissary on my CV. Universities and prospective employers like that kind of entrepreneurship and lexical knowledge. You should get an activity like this too. They expect this.” “I thought it is the point to stick out, to be so unique that others are interested in you. How does doing what everybody does the same, because that is what everybody has to do, help there?”, John asked while Neil unlocked the foods stand and went into the back where the wares were stored. Neil pointed at some packages of soft drinks. “Need to unpack those and put them into the fridge first.” While they both got to it, Neil added: “So we both understand the system. There is what they say and there is what they want. Still, I think my way to deal with that could pay off in the end. Maybe even more so than yours.” John nodded when Neil reached out for another soda can. They finished the work in silence. Afterwards, Neil put on his work apron and took up his place behind the counter. Above him on the wall painted in a fresh white there was the faint shadow of a mascot which had fallen out of time. In front of him, there was the tip jar while the cassette with the change was hidden under the counter. Neil seemed a little tired but content. John waved to him. “I will try to get some more sleep in on one of the lounge sofas before class. See you later.”, John said. “See you.” The most comfortable couches stood in the lounge of the Science Building that was still missing an S. So John went directly there after leaving the food stall. Once in the lounge, he noticed a movement coming from the astronomy room. Through the large windows in the double door he could see Becky and Rose working on something inside. He hesitated. Beyond the doors was the opportunity for a nice conversation with his friends. He should say hello. He was sure that would be nice. Still, he hesitated. For no reason and yet he still did not jump at this possibility. On the contrary, he had to push himself even though it was a push towards people he liked. For a moment, he shifted his weight from one foot to the other and back again. This was a warm-up and a collecting of resources. Then he knocked on the window in the door. They noticed him and he had to go inside now. “Good morning.”, John greeted. Becky answered with a “Hello, how are you?”, while Rose waved and nodded. “What are you doing?”, John asked to avoid an awkward break. Becky was still looking at him. “We got permission to use the school´s telescope to track the asteroid tonight.”, Becky explained. “It has a projector and with this camera here, we will be able to record the passage of our little friend while it passes through the night sky. We just set it up now before class.” “Interesting.” John strolled closer to the telescope while being careful not to touch anything. “Yeah.”, Rose added, “I hope the asteroid breaks open and reveals a truth about the nature of nature that is so unexpected, belittling, and unsettling, that it drops us into sheer horror.” John looked at her decisively unsurprised. “Or maybe it is just a cool image of an asteroid. Astronomy rocks and space is great.”, Rose more pretended to emote than said. But then she paused and added sincerely: “There is beauty among the stars.” “With some luck…,”, Becky added, completely serious, while finishing up with some adjustments, “We will get another glimpse at the vastness that surrounds us. How could not look at the sky with curiosity.” “Tonight you say?”, John inquired. “Yes.”, Becky answered. “Around midnight, it should be dark enough and we should be able to see it even with the naked eye.” “Will you be here and watch it?” “No.”, Rose said, stretching the o maybe a bit more than it was called for. “They do not want us here at night. So we have to set this up and hope for a great recording.” “Well… hope it works out.” John smiled at Becky and nodded at Rose. Then he excused himself and headed for the couches. He did not want to sleep just outside the astronomy room. So he went to the relatively lumpy couches in the Art building, named after local celebrity Burton Art. Becky and Rose continued to set up the telescope until the doors closed behind John. Rose peeked over the telescope and through the windows in the doors. When she saw that John was beyond earshot, she nodded as if she was part of a secret ring of spies. “Nice nice.”, Becky uttered in lieu of anything more substantial to say and tried to look even more busy. “Yeah. Nice how nice you two still are with another.”, Rose probed. “Almost as if it did not hurt.” “Hm…”, Becky answered. “It still does hurt a little. But it just was not… Well, it does still hurt. There´s a scar now on the heart. Maybe it´s healing, sometimes it feels like that. So it won´t hurt in the future or only when the weather is about to change. In any case, I feel that it´ll stay in some form.” “Sounds at least like it was real.”, Rose concluded and duck back down behind the telescope. The day that had begun so early dragged on in the middle. Biology class was turned into self-study by the absence of the regular teacher and the lack of a qualified substitute. John flipped through the textbook with his right, while his head rested on his left. There were not going to be any more test or quizzes or projects this year. Knowing that, John did not pay much attention to the contents of the pages and let his thoughts wander. “Do you think you would notice it as different when you were a duck?”, he quietly asked Neil who sat next to him. “Up until now I thought this self-study was even less useful than sex ed last week.”, Neil moaned loudly instead of giving an answer. Nearby, sitting at a bench next to Becky, Rose snickered. Some other students laughed, most were indifferent and bored. The moment passed. “Like, if you woke up tomorrow and were a duck. Would you remember how it was to be a person? Would you want to remember?”, John continued. “All I can say to this is: I hope not – on the duck thing. My uncle hunts those. This would make for super awkward Thanksgivings.” Meanwhile Becky read the newspaper, searching out the reports on the asteroid. “You cannot pretend to do biology while actually doing some work on another science.”, Rose insisted as she noticed. “That is like cheating. A weird way of cheating, but still… You should at least cheat on biology with social studies, or history. English or a foreign language would work as well, I guess.” “What are you doing?”, Becky asked back, looked up from the paper and at her friend. Rose pointed to her sketch pad. “Take it in. These are the initial drawings of the cycle of Solomar. You see them here as first mortal before they conquer the world by storm.”, Rose exclaimed. “Looks great.”, Becky said, studying the drawings. “I like this lone heroine. Looks a bit like a barbarian, like as if she was about wrestle with a dragon.” “How do you know that she is a lone heroine?”, Rose asked. “She’s one of yours.”, Becky said. At some point, the time for self-study officially ended. The students packed their things quickly into their bags and were in the midst of storming out. Neil strolled over to Rose and Becky, braving the current of leaving classmates. “Rose, you have a minute? There is something we should talk about. Something important.”, Neil announced. “Important like art, or just like life and death?”, Rose inquired while stuffing her textbook in her backpack. “Or like love?”, Becky added with a side-glance at Rose. Neil hesitated, clearly thinking about a reply. “Super important. This is about the social studies project we did together.”, he explained. “The one we handed in and got a grade? I thought the circle was completed, the fate sealed.”, Rose answered. She then waved Becky a short goodbye as Becky was leaving for English less prepared than she could have been. “Yeah, let´s see about that. I don´t think that it should be sealed. We should talk to Ms. French about the grade. -See you Becky.- Fran agrees with me on that. Let´s meet her now and go to Ms. French.” “Ok. But afterwards it is lunch time. Actually, I think it is lunch time now – but if you insist, I will postpone my meal. I hope you will use this chunk of my life time gifted to you to a proper end.”, Rose stated and grabbed her bag. “Of course. Have I ever wasted my or anybody else’s time?”, Neil replied. Both they then left the classroom and made her way to the Art building and Ms. French´s office. The cafeteria was emptier than usual. Rose and Neil had no problems finding an empty table. “Told you that it would go well. We just had to highlight the amount of work that had gone into the project.”, Neil repeated. “Hm.”, Rose replied and then decided to dig into the pasta instead of expanding on that. “I mean, your contribution was obvious. The illustrations were both bloody and really good. They might have distracted Ms. French a bit. It was her fault, though, as she gave us this particular topic. Thanks for showing up with Fran and me anyway. Now we can be satisfied with the grades.”, Neil said, a fork with food hovering close to his mouth. Rose nodded. “It was a fun project. We should hang out more often. Like we used to in the golden days of our youth. Like, like we used to up until a few weeks ago.”, she added. “Yeah.”, he put down the fork again. “Only… weird without the other two and weird with them now. That was easier before.” “True.” She eyed a suspicious lump in the red sauce. “There is one group-thingy I like and now it is that… weird. I wonder if they thought about what they are doing to us when they… did what they did. Now we are like a family, divorce and all.” “Hah, true.”, Neil exclaimed and then finally took a bite. “Maye we can educate the others and reduce the awkwardness.” “There’s only so much time before everybody moves away for college next year.”, Neil said in a low voice, leaving it open if this was unclear if this was an argument for or against. “Oh.”, Rose grunted. “Maybe we should not have sought to improve our grades then. And we should find a way to drag the ones of the others down. Then we can repeat a year or two or more. Stupid maybe, but happy.” “Yeah… no. Not sure if this would even work.” Neil decided it was time to go over to the dessert. “So this remains an issue for future me an you. It is also for future Becky and John, of course.”, Rose suggested. She discovered that the lump was just an oddly shaped noodle and ate without concern. “Future me and future you, future us, and them too.”, Neil repeated. Both he and Rose lifted their heads, smiled, and listened in anticipation. Instead of music, Becky arrived with a food trey and sat down next to Rose. “Hi. How are you two?”, Becky asked. “We are doomed due to our feelings and the feelings of others.”, Rose declared. “Of course we are. But who are the others this time?”, Becky wondered. Rose sighed theatrically and Neil smirked before shaking his head. After lunch, Rose and Becky had some time before the next class that was not already assigned to any task or activity and went outside. Rose walked directly to one of the battered blue payphones and punched in a number. “Hello, I would like to talk to the Ericsons, please. Yes, whoever of them is available right now… I am their daughter. The other one. Yes… thank you Mr. nurse.” While Rose talked to the bodiless voice in a strange city, Becky settled in the corner made by the phone and the concrete wall of the main building. There was a pause as Rose waited for her parents. Becky imagined how now their names would be called out over PA, how one of them would move through the hallways of the hospital, looking for the next available phone. While she imagined this, Becky looked across the school parking lot and then beyond its chain-link fence at the town across the small straight. It was nestled on that small ragged island with curved bays and towering cliffs with sharp edges. It was a rugged place between the ocean and the mainland. It was as if the town was clinging to a rock among the waves. There were a lot of houses with great views as they were built close to the cliffs. Even greater must have been the view for the cedars. The trees filled still the spaces people had left for them. Some crept very close to the edges and others even hang out a bit over the ocean, just barely hanging on to the rock. And yet they did. They even managed to reach out to the sky. Some storms were strong enough to break them and take them away. But a number of them was still left. Becky had some favourites among these cedars. Old and brave ones she always sought out when she had a minute to look out over her home town. Faster than expected, Rose was connected. She exchanged individual words with one of her parents. By the sound of this, it was her mother. No, Becky decided after three more words, probably it was her dad. “Well but that is good… like, given the situation. Hugh her from me… if, if this is possible. …Yeah. Bye.” Rose hung up. “Well that was… yeah, good. At least she is fine. For the moment at least she is fine. That is a win.” Becky turned towards her friend and nodded, then laid an arm around her shoulders. “Yes it is, Rose. I´m glad she’s doing ok.” John stood, his bike and himself ready to leave, already on the parking lot, a few steps away from the main building. Neil, on the other hand, still fiddled with his padlock, aiming to free his bike, but as of yet unable to make that plan a reality. Then he stopped suddenly in mid-fiddling. “Shit… should take a look and check if Pete has locked the commissary. I guess I should.” Neil wavered a bit. “Yes, should do that.” He let the padlock be for the moment and sprinted back to the main entrance. “Maybe go ahead without me. We can meet at my place. One of my parents is probably home. They´ll let you in. And if it´s my dad, you might get some chocolate milk while you wait.”, Neil said to John over his shoulder. “No. It´s ok.”, replied John. “I´ll wait. Let´s go together.” Neil gesticulated vaguely but then nodded. When he passed the doors and went into the main building, he passed Rose, and both gave each other high fives in passing. Rose then made her way to John. She stopped beside him on the parking lot under the warm sun. “All done for the day?”, Rose inquired. “Yes, all done.”, he reported. “Not just for today even. There is nothing going on tomorrow, right? Besides getting on the bus, I mean.” “True. So you are good and settled for the whole year then. Great!” “You?” “I am done as well. Done and done. Except for the asteroid business, but this is more of an extra credit and in any case something I do more to give a hand to Becky.”, Rose replied. “Look at us. We got all taken care of. So if we were to die now, we leave nothing behind that can further bind us as wraiths to this plane of existence.” “Lucky us.”, John smiled. “Could be an interesting experience to be a wraith, though.” “Nah.” Rose shook her head. “Probably not. Besides, that is something that you can try in the far-away future after dying of old age.” She mustered him. “How is our story going?” “It is going well… I hope. Maybe a few more weeks of work and then it is ready to be rejected like the other ones.” Rose nodded gravely before cocking her head and smiling a bit mischievously. “Well if this is not something to live for.” She was about to add something, but in this moment, Becky drove towards the two. She stopped the car and let the passenger side door swing open for Rose to get in. “Have a good one.”, John said. “See you.”, Rose gave back. “And remember: Always create something that, if aliens from the future would find it as only surviving artefact of our civilization would understand us at least a bit. Picture mankind naked and write about it.” “Will do.”, John said and laughed. Then he and Becky exchanged a smile and a wave, before the girls got into the truck and drove off. John was not alone for long, though. Neil returned right afterwards. “Oh, should have asked her to give us a lift.”, Neil exclaimed. “She’d have done it.” “Of course Becky would have done it.”, John said flatly. “Her pickup even has space for bikes in the back. That would have been great.” “We are not really going in their direction.”, John replied. Neil just shrugged and then went to unlock and unchain his bike. “Could transport at least one caged dinosaur on that truck. God, how I miss that old rusty lady.”, Neil exclaimed. After a brief pause, he added: “I mean the truck. With old lady, I mean the vehicle.” He then finally was able to open his rusty lock and free his bike. He went over to John and both took to their saddles and started to bike down to town. “Think Becky is going to sell her car when she moves for college?”, Neil wondered aloud and very eager to move the conversation forward. “Ask her. But do not take it for free.” As everything failed, there was nothing left but drifting into the cold darkness. All that while the mind raced and tried to imagine the end. A whole world was about to lose itself in the eternal night. The end and the way there would be lonely. Soon it would end, but the time until then was still long. Too long not to fear madness before the darkness. But then there was a little blue spot shining in all the darkness. Maybe this one was hospitable enough, close enough to save a life.

Separating Janice from Melina
Hi! I’ve been planning this post for a while. An attempt to analyse Janice and Melina as separate characters. Some of this comes from personal headcanons, of mine, but they’re all based on what we see in the movie.
We’ll start with their character profiles form The World of Professor Layton.
Janice: ‘A 23-year-old female who has a mature air about her and wears a beautiful purple pendant around her neck. She is a former student of Layton’s who went on to become a celebrated opera singer...’ There’s also this comment about her character design- she ‘generally looks like someone who has an interest in music’.
Melina: ‘Melina was the only daughter of opera composer Oswald Whistler, and best girlfriend to Janice. Tragically, an illness took Melina from this world a year ago, at the youthful age of 22. By all accounts, she was a beautiful woman with a gentle soul.’ Another character design comment- ‘Melina was pretty much developed like Janice.’ The difference is that she was given the look ‘of an extremely intelligent but sickly young lady, brimming with potential.’
From their character designs alone, Melina was meant to resemble Janice. Both of them wear purple and have their hair tied back. They were the same age until Melina’s death. Both of them love music and both are self-sacrificing. (Melina’s London Life profile even points this out.)
Janice had to be very similar to Melina, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to retain Melina’s memories from the Detragon. Whistler searches for talented young girls to become hosts for Melina’s memories- and they had to be as talented as his daughter. But, as Layton explains, the results were imperfect. However, Janice is similar to Melina and as an added bonus, she shares many memories with Melina.
But that doesn’t mean Janice and Melina are identical. Even in that short character bio, Janice is described as ‘mature’, while Melina is described as ‘youthful’. More on this later...
The Reveal Scene in Eternal Diva is quite a unique one. Layton doesn’t expose a traitorous villain, but rather, a thought-to-be-dead friend who has been accompanying them in secret. Melina’s situation is very similar to Claire’s during Lost Future. Here, Melina isn’t just wearing a mask- she’s possessing Janice’s body and mind. (Does that sound weird? Sorry, I made it sound weird.)
Janice, likely having been the first ‘host’ for the Detragon, buried her memories voluntarily so Melina could act in her place. There’s no confirmation if ‘voluntarily’ meant Whistler gave Janice the choice to become the host, or if he even told her about the Detragon’s true purpose. We do know that when the time came to accept Melina’s memories, Janice did so willingly to save her friend... much to Melina’s ‘very great surprise’. There isn’t anyone guarding Janice during the memory-transferral process- Whistler even walks away- or when she wakes up, so maybe Janice was somewhat compliant. What is clear is that Janice is an extremely selfless person, putting her own life on hold so Melina could live through her. It also suggests that Janice is the more passive of the pair of them...
Melina died a year before the opera. We don’t know how long she posed as Janice, but it was enough time to leave the island, reassume Janice’s life, prepare for the opera, and realise how wrong it was for her to steal someone else’s life. After being ill for so long, Melina is able to ‘walk and dance and sing’ again thanks to Janice. All of these things she obviously enjoyed doing before she got sick. I really like how Melina admits that as time went by she came to realise how wrong it was. At the start, she actually enjoyed it- who wouldn’t, after suffering for so long? Yes, Janice let her take over, but Melina still felt somewhat selfish. Maybe she was selfish. But that’s ok, because it’s a character flaw she manages to overcome. Not every female character has to be an martyr, Level 5
Melina doesn’t just enjoy dancing and singing- she’s a true romantic and a thrill seeker. On the beach, Melina chats wistfully about how the game for Eternal Life, the island, eating on the beach, and watching the seashore with Layton feels like a dream. Layton agrees these are perfect surroundings with puzzles and ruins for them to examine. At first, it’s kind of funny and you think it’s just Layton being his usual puzzle-obsessed self... but actually, that’s exactly the kind of thing he would have discussed with Janice when she was in his archaeology class. They probably visited loads of ruins and dig sites. But Melina isn’t interested in that. Puzzles- maybe. She was an intelligent lady. But ruins, not so much. Melina’s passions lay in music, not archaeology. (Something tells me the same applied to Janice, but for whatever reason she still studied archaeology.)
Melina wants romance and adventure. (Can you blame her, after being bed-ridden for who-knows-how-long?) She’s excited at flying in the professor’s homemade helicopter, childishly comparing it to a ‘giant grasshopper’. Luke tells her she can hold on to him if she’s scared, but Melina assures him she’s not scared. She’s having fun.
“This is FUUUUUUUN?” screams ten-year-old Luke.
“Yeah!” the twenty-two-year-old technically dead woman replies.
With Janice being the more ‘mature’ of the two, you have to wonder what her reaction to the helicopter would be. Probably less happy...
And now here’s two of my favourite screenshots from the whole movie. One is hilarious, the other is very poignant and heartwarming.
In Screenshot A, Layton is so startled when Melina and Luke hug him that he raises his voice. Yeah, he is trying to land the plane, but this is probably also out of character for Janice. I like all my uni tutors... but never enough to hug any of them. It’s awkward enough if I bump into them in the cafeteria. Sure, Janice is ‘fond’ of the professor, but I feel like this is more something Melina would do. Melina is a hugger. She’s effusive and wants to connect with more people. (I can’t imagine she got many visitors when she was sick aside from Whistler, Janice and Descole...) She hugs Layton and Mr Whistler. She pulls Luke away from some fire on the Detragon because you can’t touch fire, Luke. And she lets Nina snuggle up to her on the lifeboat. This last part especially demonstrates the ‘gentle soul’ part of Melina’s profile. She’s has a gentle soul... but she’s also a thrill seeker. Rather like Emmy!
On to Screenshot B- one of the few interactions we get between Layton and the real Janice. Janice has jut lost Melina again, along with a part of herself. She looks and sounds so empty. Layton approaches her and she asks him, “Is there no way to get [Melina] back?” Layton doesn’t say anything, because he knows the answer after losing Claire. He just puts his hand on Janice’s shoulder- a sign of empathy and comfort. This is much more appropriate than the two of them sharing a hug. I see Janice as being almost as reserved as Layton. Perhaps she was more open-hearted before Melina’s death... but out of she and Melina, Janice is the more withdrawn one. Before she leaves, Melina tells Janice it’s time for her “to start living her own life again”...
She has to let Melina go, while still remembering her, and learn how to be herself again. She can pursue her interest in music now, if that’s what she really wants, and meet new people...
(I really, really tried to keep the Janice/Melina content to a minimum- they’re just gal pals- but did I mention there are lots of parallels between these two and LayClaire...?)
At least three years after Eternal Diva (after the credits), we see her visiting Layton and Luke. She looks happy, going about her life.
And finally, the best part of Melina’s character. She’s loves DOGS!

hi can i blease have some modern au Race hcs? idc what i just love him
AN: Hi guys! I am so sorry this has been in my inbox for forever. I’m not sure if this is even coherent at this point because I wrote to over the course of two weeks because I couldn’t focus on it. So I don’t know how this came out. But I hope you enjoy it anyways!
TW: Being sick, talks about an orphanage
Word Count: 1,733
Genre: Fluff
You were the new kid in school
It was your first week there
You would always ride the bus
Your parents used the only car your family had so they could go to work
Of course, the bus you rode was always the last one to show up
So you would hang around just people watching or working on some homework or something
But you were stuck on a question for your bio homework
Then you spotted someone across the room who was in the same class as you
So you went to ask him for help
You walked over to him
And he was sitting with a bunch of other boys
Who you assumed were all friends because they seemed to always ride the same bus and hang out together at lunch
You introduced yourself to him
And he said his name was Elmer
He walked you back to the bench you were originally sitting on
And helped you with the question
Once it was done
You thanked him
And started talking
His bus was about to pull up so you quickly exchanged numbers so if you had any more questions about the homework he could help you
Soon after Elmer’s bus left
Yours arrived
Later that night you and Elmer started talking again
Just getting to know each other
You told him how nice it was to have someone to talk with
Considering you hadn’t made any new friends at the school yet
So Elmer invited you to sit with him and some of his other friends at lunch the next day
You agreed to do so
So the next day you met his friends
And there were a LOT of them
Luckily you got on quite well with them all
You aren’t going to lie tho
It was kinda intimidating
There were just so many of them to keep track of
Then you asked how they all had met
In the most casual way, you had ever heard
Albert said that they all lived at the same orphanage
You were slightly shocked by this
You just didn’t expect it
But you accepted it and moved on with the conversation
The boy nicknamed Finch was telling you about how good his aim with a slingshot is
When a VERY attractive blond boy sat in the only empty seat left at the table
Which just so happened to be right next to you
“Are you guys trying to replace me with some new kid?”
He gasped and made an overdramatic hurt expression
Which made you laugh a little
Hearing you laugh made the boy smile slightly
You introduced yourself and he said he went by the name Racetrack Higgins
Race for short
“Well it’s very nice to meet you ‘Race for Short’”
It was his turn to laugh at your joke
“I like them, Jack can we keep them?”
Jack seemed like he was the main person in charge
All of the other boys seemed to look up to him and respect his decisions
So when Race asked this
Everyone’s attention turned to Jack
“I suppose if they want to stick around, they can”
The boys were very happy about this
It was surprising to have so much praise just because Jack said you could stay
You guess then that’s a big deal
They even add you to their group chat
Which you imagine is going to be constantly blowing up your phone
But it’s okay
Because you finally made some friends!
A few weeks later, you were fully part of their group
You got a chance to message and talk with each of them individually
And you loved them all
But you loved Race the most
As in
You developed a slight crush on him
But you weren’t going to act on those feelings
You just barely became friends with everyone
You weren’t going to ruin that all because you had a crush
Everything was going amazing with your new group of friends
You were super close to Elmer, Jojo, Mush, and Davey
But you loved all of the boys
And girls
Jack was officially dating Katherine Plummer
Apparently, he had been pining over her for a while
So it was kinda a big deal
Also Davey’s sister, Sarah, recently started hanging out with you guys too
It was nice to have some gal pals and not be stuck with the boys all the time
One day you had to stay home from school because you were sick
You normally would have the first period with Jojo, Specs, and Race
So when both you and Race didn’t show up
Specs asked if you were out for the day in the group chat
He said that Race was home sick too
You weren’t the closest with Race
Because you didn’t want your feelings for him to grow and ruin your chance in the whole friend group
So when he texted you privately
And asked how you were doing
It threw you off a little
But you did have to admit
It was nice knowing he cared about you
You told him about how you weren’t feeling well
You had a fever and could barely breathe and had a bad cough
Basically, you had a really bad cold
And apparently, Race had one too
Just not quite as bad as you
You couldn’t really do much but lay in bed
Whereas Race just had a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough
So he offered to come over to your house and keep you company
Also to take care of you because both of your parents were going to be at work all day
You tried to make up an excuse because you didn’t want your crush to see you when you were this gross and sick
But your foggy brain couldn’t think of any good ones
So you reluctantly agreed
Race got to your house about a half hour later
Despite it being a ten-minute drive from the orphanage to your house
When Race showed up
He had a shopping bag filled with things
Simple snacks like crackers, cheerios, Sprite, etc
And a few things to entertain you both like movies and playing cards
You were not expecting all of that
But it was sweet nonetheless
You guys played a few rounds of go fish
Because that’s all you could handle mentally at the moment
And afterward, you were exhausted
Having no energy sucks
But Race didn’t want you to push yourself
So he offered to put on a movie
He apparently brought a bunch of Disney and Pixar movies
And he had you choose which one to watch first
You chose Tangled
He put it into your computer and set it up to play on your TV
Then he sat next to you on your bed
His back up against your headboard
Sitting on top of the blankets
You were laying underneath them curled into a ball
“You can lay down with me Race, it’s okay”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. I’m okay right here.”
“Race you are sick too. I’m telling you to lay down, you don’t have a choice.”
So he scooted down so he was laying
Still on top of the blankets
“Get your ass under here Race. You are going to get cold.”
“Are you sure, Y/N?”
He was so nervous about making you feel weird
It was cute
But you told him to get under the blankets
So he did
And he stayed on his side of the bed
Eventually, you started to drift into sleep
As you were only half asleep you said you were cold
And you cuddled into Races side
You put your head onto his chest
And wrapped an arm around his middle
“Is this okay?” you mumbled
Even tho you were half asleep and didn’t really know what you were doing you still asked
That made him blush a little
He said it was okay
Then he slowly wrapped his arms around you
As if he was protecting you from the outside world
He repeated your question to make sure you were comfortable with it
All he got in response was a slight head nod and a small hum of approval
And you snuggling even closer to him
Now he was really blushing
He was glad your eyes were closed so you couldn’t see it
Or the small smile that was forming on his face
Soon you drifted off into a peaceful dreamland
Race stayed awake for a little while just watching the movie
And making sure you slept peacefully
But eventually, the wear of the day mixed with the fact that he was also ill got to him
And he too drifted off into a peaceful slumber with you in his arms
Right where you belonged
Once school ended Sarah and Davey came over to your house to check on you
They had texted you earlier in the day to make sure that was okay
They let themselves into your house
And went up to your bedroom
Their jaws dropped when they saw you and Race cuddled up sleeping
Sarah immediately took out her phone and snapped a pic of you two
They decided you looked well taken care of
So they left a note on your desk and went home
About 20 mins later both your phone and Races were blowing up and awoke you from your peaceful slumber
You both checked your phone and the group chat was freaking out
You scroll up to the top of the new messages
NEW TEXT FROM: Sar Bear💖🐻
“Davey and I went to check on you two, but you seemed to be doing just fine without us 😉😍”
*insert picture of you and Race cuddled up with a Disney movie in the background*
All of the boys were hounding on you two in the chat
Sending heart eyes, key smashes, and “I SHIP IT"’s
Also some “I called it!” and “Use protection”’s
When you saw all this you were so embarrassed
You wanted to hide away forever
But before you could pull away from the cuddling position you were in with Race
He held you even tighter to his body
And gave you a small kiss on your forehead
Maybe getting tested wasn’t going to be too bad
As long as you had Race right by your side

Rachel: Sora's Gal-Pal (KH/TPTAF TG/TF)
Wanting to save Sora, Riku dives into the world he's trapped in only to succumb to the same fate.
Here's the second part of my little trilogy. Came out a little sooner than I expected, but you can surprise yourself sometimes.
If you have any constructive criticism and feedback, please comment down below.
A full year.
It’s been a full year since Sora disappeared after the final battle with Xehanort. It apparently had something to do with the Power of Waking. Riku didn’t exactly know the full extent of what it was, but he knew that he had to reunite Sora with his friends.
Luckily, after all this time, they finally found him. Kairi can apparently sense Sora’s heart in some forbidden world. No one knows why he’s still in this world after all this time, but Riku and Kairi knew that the reason can’t be good.
Riku volunteered to go. He was the best possible candidate aside from Kairi herself to retrieve Sora.
And so with the power of the Keyblade, Riku accessed the forbidden world and dived into it, ready for whatever monsters awaited him.
It wasn’t long before Riku ended up in New Orleans. He could see people walking down the sidewalks and cars driving through the streets.
“Why, hello there, handsome. What’s your name?”
Riku’s eyes turned to see a teenage girl about his age running up towards him. He had to admit that she’s fairly attractive from her lovely face full of makeup to the bright pink flapper dress accentuating her brunette hair.
“Um… My name's Riku and your name is…”
“Sora. Sora La Bouff.”
It was then Riku looked into Sora’s eyes. They were the exact same eyes. He could see the same friendly aura in his eyes. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. This pink-clad girl right in front of him is Sora? Riku wondered what could’ve happened to him to make him this way. Who could’ve done this?
“Sora? Is that you?”
“Yep,” Sora giggled. “It’s me alright.”
Before Riku could say anything else, he could see a similarly dressed blonde-haired woman run up to the two.
“Hey, Sora, I… who’s this guy?”
“This is Riku,” Sora pointed to the guy beside her. “He’s pretty handsome, isn’t he?”
Charlotte turned to the silver haired boy before her and began analyzing him. Lovely silver hair, fairly muscular with a pretty boy look to him.
She knew she and Sora had a lot of work to do and a lot of changes to make.
“I see…” Charlotte said. “Do you want to come over to our place? We have plenty of food.”
Riku briefly thought about Charlotte’s offer. On the one hand, there was something about this place that seemed off. It seemed a bit more empty than a city like New Orleans should be. And how did Sora become this bubbly teenage girl? She looked so different and yet he could sense his heart deep within this girlish body. There’s obviously something sinister afoot. On the other hand, if he could get Sora away from Charlotte and talked to her in private, there’s a chance that he could get his friend back. He would look less like a weirdo trying to get his friend to snap back to his normal self at Charlotte’s place than if he did this in public.
“Sure.”
“Great!” Sora grabbed Riku’s hand and began dragging over to her place with Charlotte not too far behind the two.
Before Riku knew it, he was at the La Bouff estate with the two girls. They quickly took Riku up to Sora’s room.
“Lottie and I had to do a bit of girl talk for a bit,” Sora said. “I’ll see you in a bit. Make yourself at home for a bit in my bedroom while I’m gone.”
Sora quickly left her room with Charlotte in tow, leaving Riku able to analyze Sora’s bedroom. A large pink canopy bed, princess dolls and plushies filled Sora’s shelves alongside books of fairy tales and a wardrobe filled with princess dresses. Riku sat down on the canopy bed, wondering how Sora went from a brave Keyblade Master to a princess obsessed girly girl. Maybe Charlotte had something to do with it?
“I’m back!”
Riku turned his head to Sora mincing into the room. She sat down right next to the silver-haired boy, scooting a bit too closely to him for comfort.
“I’m so glad that you decided to come over,” Sora squealed. “I know we’re going to become great friends.”
“Thanks,” Riku said. “Now, I need to talk to you about something.”
“Oh, before we do, how about some chocolates?” Sora quickly handed Riku a package of chocolates. She took one a piece and began waving it in front of Riku’s face. “I bet you’ll find them quite tasty.”
“Thanks, but-”
Before Riku could finish, Sora stuffed the piece of chocolate right into his mouth. He wanted to spit it out as he had the feeling that he couldn’t trust anything that Sora and Charlotte were offering. But Riku couldn’t bring himself to spit the candy out, he found it too tasty.
“Want some more?”
Riku nodded and began eating more chocolates. His instincts tell him not to eat any more, but he could feel himself getting addicted to the chocolates. Before he knew it, the package was completely empty.
“These are actually pretty good,” Riku said. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Sora giggled. “They always have that special taste that makes them so addictive and they can bring out the little lady in you.”
“Little L-lady?”
Before Riku could question Sora further, he could feel his body tingling. He looked down to see the muscles in his body and arms slowly shrinking before his eyes. Shock overcame him as the chocolates left his body with a slim and feminine figure.
“W-what have you done to me?”
“I’m helping you become a woman,” Sora smirked. “There’s obviously a beautiful young lady deep within you and Lottie and I are bringing it out.”
“I don’t want to become a woman!” Riku yelled. This must have been how Sora got into this situation. He has to do something, anything, before this feminizing effect fully overtakes him.
“You say no, but your heart says yes. I feel it.”
“No! That’s not true!”
“But it is. You’re meant to be a woman and we’re just getting started with your transition.”
It was then Riku noticed that his body shrunk by a fair few inches. When they first met, he towered over Sora and now he was about the same height as her. What made the feminization worse was how his clothes became loose and ill-fitting on him. Riku’s shirt looked several sizes too big on him and he can barely keep his pants from falling down.
“I know those clothes don’t fit you anymore, but sis is working on finding the perfect outfit for you, it’ll be okay.”
“Sorraaa!”
“And speak of the devil.”
Sora opened the bedroom door, allowing Charlotte to walk in, carrying a bundle of blue fabric.
“I got the clothes and…” Charlotte gasped at Riku’s current state. “Oh my, you really need a wardrobe change.”
“No… no!” A swelling sensation moved to Riku’s chest. He could feel two fleshy balloons pushing out from his chest. Of course, he knew what was going on there. He’s developing breasts… his breasts. They were there and they were very real.
“I’m out of here.”
Riku ran towards Sora’s bedroom door as fast as he could. His run was hampered by him holding up his pants which were several sizes too large for him with one hand while also trying to run in his ill-fitting shoes. He tried to ignore how his new B-cup breasts bounced up and down with each movement. Before he could grab the doorknob with his free hand, he felt a tight grab on his shoulder.
“Oh no, you don’t, young lady.”
Riku found himself quickly pushed back onto Sora’s bed by Charlotte. He quickly got up but he found the path to the bedroom door blocked by Sora and Charlotte.
“Now then,” Charlotte grinned. “Let’s get you out of those ugly and ill-fitting clothes and into something more fitting for a young lady like you.”
Within seconds, Riku’s clothes were thrown off to the side while Charlotte and Sora got him dressed in clothes that were more fitting. He tried to resist being jerked and jolted around by the two women, but his new feminine body was very much lacking in any sort of physical strength.
When they were done, Riku was able to look over himself. He was no longer wearing his regular clothes but a sky blue flapper dress with matching two-inch heels, a feather boa and a cloche hat to complete the ensemble. Sora and Charlotte at least had the decency to latch on a bra and matching panties. If there was one good thing about his new attire is that his new bra kept his breasts supported.
“I look so…” Riku clutched his throat. His Adam’s apple was nowhere to be found. His throat was completely flat. “M-my voice.”
“I know,” Sora giggled. “Not as high-pitched as mine or Lottie’s, but fairly appropriate for a girl like you, right?”
‘Yeah, I guess,” Riku said. He was already feminized from head to toe with the exception of one area. He knew which one it is and he’s not looking forward to the change in the slightest.
“Hmm…” Sora examined Riku. “She looks great, but there’s one thing missing.”
“What’s that, Sora?” Lottie asked.
“Makeup!”
Sora took out a big powder puff and slammed it on Riku’s face, encasing the feminized Keyblade wielder’s face in a fine, white powder.
Riku began coughing as he waved the powder away. When the powder completely faded away, Riku got a good look at his reflection and what he saw, after everything else that happened, didn’t shock him that much.
His face was full of makeup. White eyeshadow dons his eyes with mascara and eyeliner accentuating them. His cheeks were made extra rosy thanks to some blush and pale pink lipstick covered his lips along with lip gloss making them look extra kissible. He had to admit that he didn’t look like the most masculine individual before this, but now it’s all but impossible for anyone to see him as a boy. Instead, anyone who sees him will think he’s a feminine, alluring young woman.
“Don’t you look fabulous?”
Riku turned towards Sora and it was then he could feel the last change coming. His dick slowly began to recede into his body as a vagina began to form in its place. His manhood is now completely gone, now with a fresh new womanhood to take its place as some people would put it. That last change didn’t go unnoticed.
“Now, you’re quite the young lady.”
Riku knew there was no denying it. Sora was right. He was now completely a woman in body. But he’s still the same Riku inside. Maybe if he can find a way to get away from them, he can get back to the others with his mind intact. Tell them what happened to him and Sora. Get Kairi, Mickey, Aqua, Ven and Terra to help him free Sora and set him and Riku back to normal.
“Hmm…” Sora examined Riku. “You’re all dolled up with a woman’s body and the perfect dress to boot and yet… you don’t seem happy.”
“Maybe Rachel needs a little something to bring out her feminine side?” Charlotte suggested.
“No!” This place may have taken Riku’s body, but it surely hasn't taken his mind and he refuses to go by that name.
“I know,” Sora beamed. “She needs a man.
“I don’t want a man!”
“Oh, yes you do,” Sora giggled. “We both know you want a man. You want to be held in his strong arms as you stared into his dreamy eyes. You want him to kiss you and make you feel girlish. I bet when you finally get married to the man of your dreams and you get to your honeymoon, he’ll really make you feel like a woman.”
Riku could feel his mind being invaded by images of men. Lying side-by-side in the sand, their tanned, muscular bodies oiled and glistening in the tropical sun, their naked bottoms were in perfect alignment...
“That’s not true!”
“We both know it’s true. Just admit it.”
“No!”
“Maybe you girls should go out and find a man?” Charlotte suggested. “I bet being with the man of her dreams would make a woman out of Rachel.”
“That’s a great idea, Lottie,” Sora pulled her sister into a hug. “I’m sure I’ll find Rachel a boy who would be good to her before sunset.”
Sora suddenly grabbed Riku’s arm and began dragging him out of the room.
“Bye, Lottie!”
“Bye, Sora,” Charlotte waved. “See you girls tonight.”
Riku tried to break his arm free of Sora’s grip, but the latter was too strong for him. He was forced down the street as wolf-whistles echoed in his ear. Riku had a strong feeling in his gut that those whistles weren’t meant for Sora.
As Sora stopped to wait for the crossing sign to turn green, Riku looked around the area, desperate for an avenue to escape. He quickly stopped upon a teenage boy just a few feet from him. He was handsome, muscular, and dwarfed Riku in physical size. He wouldn't have looked all that special to Riku normally, but with his new body and attire, he felt much more dainty and delicate in comparison to the teen standing not too far from him.
“That’s Bruce,” Sora said. “I heard he’s one of the hottest teens in New Orleans and I think he’s taken an interest in you.”
The two teens continue to stare at each other. Riku’s heart began to race as he looked deep into Bruce’s eyes. He looked so attractive.
Bruce began to walk towards the two. Riku continued to look around the area. He knew his heels would make it rather difficult for him to perform an escape and Sora’s presence wouldn’t help matters. After all, she looked like she can run in heels, Riku can’t. But he knew he had to try, before it’s too late.
“He’s approaching you,” Sora whispered to Riku. “Talk to him.”
“I can’t,” Riku whispered back.
“Oh, you can,” Sora said. “You just need a little push.”
It was then Riku found himself pushed towards Bruce. The heels made him struggle to keep his balance, causing him to stumble further towards Sora’s intended target. But before he found himself flat on his face, Riku was catched by Bruce.
“Are you okay?” Bruce asked with concern. His voice sounded deep and alluring. Fairly seductive to the feminized warrior.
“Yes,” Riku answered. After all the stress he went through the past few hours, he felt a sense of safety in Bruce’s arms. He felt like the boy holding him could protect him from all of the dangers in the world, even from the Heartless themselves.
Bruce began to lean towards Riku, his lips slowly extended towards his. Riku knew what he was going to do. The minute Bruce’s lips touched his, pulling him into a kiss something in Riku broke.
Riku can feel all the feminine feelings flowing through his brain and consuming whatever old thoughts he had left. All of his memories fighting heartless and villains side by side with his friends were completely gone. He… no she was Rachel now. A feminine young woman who wanted to get married and settle down with a nice young man. She wanted a man like Bruce. She needed to be with Bruce, and so she returned the kiss.
Meanwhile, Sora was giggling at her best friend. A sense of pride went through her body as she saw Rachel making out with one of the hottest boys in New Orleans.
“You go, girl.”
--
“And so I was with my big sister and we met up with Tia and Naveen. We had beignets that Tia made at her restaurant and it was the best time. You should totally come with us sometime. Their food is so good.”
“Maybe I should,” Rachel smiled. She stared at her outfit. A baby blue flapper dress. Sora had the exact same outfit except with a bright pink shade to it.
“Hey, Rachel. Hey, Sora.”
The two ladies turned to see Bruce walking towards them. Rachel could feel her heart racing as she stared at his blue eyes.
“Hi, Bruce!” Rachel minced up to Bruce and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. It’s been two weeks since Rachel began dating Bruce and the relationship has been growing strong. She can remember their date last night simply watching the stars from the park bench. It was a fairly simple date but it was good nonetheless.
“How about we go out to my family party tomorrow? I had plenty of cousins and I bet they’ll love to see you.”
“Sure!”
Rachel was familiar with Bruce’s parents, but she wasn’t so familiar with the rest of his family. Maybe this could be fun? There might be a few girl cousins that she could bond with. She could always use some more friends.
“Wonderful. Be at my house at 6 tomorrow, Rachel.”
Bruce proceeded to turn the corner at the end of the crossing, leaving Rachel and Sora on their original paths.
“I told you he’s the one for you.”
“Yeah,” Rachel admitted. “Thank you for helping me get together with Bruce.”
“You’re welcome,” Sora giggled. “Maybe tomorrow afternoon we can go to that new salon together so we can get all dolled up for our events. I heard the employees there can make anyone feel like a princess.”
“I suppose,” Rachel sighed. She wished that Sora would give up her dream of becoming a princess and just settle for one of her admirers for which the latter has no shortage of. Rachel knew three of them who could make great boyfriends to Sora in their own right.
“Great! Let’s go and set up our appointments.”
Sora and Rachel continued to mince down the sidewalk, their skirts bouncing off of each other in a feminine dance. All of a sudden, they heard a cry.
“Sora! Riku!”
The two girls turned to see another girl running towards them. She seemed about their age and her outfit wasn’t like anything in New Orleans. Her hair was about shoulder-length and she was wearing a hooded pink-and-black dress, with two small black cat ears. There are black ruffles on one side of her skirt and plaid on the other. Thick belted black boots adorned her feet and she had thin white bracelets on her left wrist and a thick wristband on her right wrist.
Neither of the two feminized Keyblade masters could recognize her at first, but as she got closer, a name struck both of them. A name that was all but forgotten by the two of them.
“Kairi?”

...Promise?
A/N There was a prompt ages ago about the Sides all having the same name and not being related...and I can’t find it so if someone does please link me so I can give the proper credit to the brilliant mind who thought of it first!
Word Count: 3525
Pairings: Moxiety (Romantic at the end)
Warnings: Swearing, Angst, Major character death
________________________________________________________________
Shoot! He was going to be late on his first day!
The sun threatened to bake Virgil like his oven had the cookies he and Patton made last night. The fiery ball of death wasn’t as kind and sweet as his best friend though, and even if both could manage to make his skin burn with red, the sun did it out of retaliation and violence. It wasn’t his fault his skin incessantly betrayed him. It was out of his control! Fearing the irritation, he fled from his safe haven. He managed to briskly maneuver out of his dorm and into the science building before any marks could be made. Late late late! What was he thinking!? Sleeping in like that...he knew he’d be late and he went through with it anyway! Clad in all black and his purple hoodie, he followed behind one of his fellow peers. There was no way he was going to be late today, that was for sure. He hadn't been late before, and he was certain his Physics professor wouldn’t let it slide.
The man in front of him peered over his shoulder, cool earthy tones meeting his dark chocolate irises. A smirk twisted up his face, yet it was precise rather than menacing. He adjusted his large square frames. “I see you are prompt with your arrival this morning.”
“I’m trying,” Virgil chuckled, speeding up slightly so he could walk beside the one he was speaking to despite his labored breathing. He wasn’t one for conversations, but this guy seemed really...calm. That was a first.
“And you are succeeding. At this rate you will arrive early.”
Silence hung above their heads, feet tapping against the cool polished floors beneath them. Up the stairs, make a left, and at the end of the hall they arrived at their destination. Virgil could sense the other's aura as sophisticated and clear, which was quite refreshing to relish in. The man outstretched a firm hand, “Logan Sanders. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Sanders?
“I didn’t think my last name was that common.” Virgil mumbled more to himself than the other, baffled over the phenomenon. Heh. Who knew? He took his hand. “Virgil Sanders.”
The other’s pristine eyebrows shot up. “It seems we have a conundrum. There appears to be three Sanders students attending this college, with the same colored hair and eyes no less.” His fingers hooked under his chin in thought, “Our jaw structures appear to be similar as well, and we share similar freckles across our cheeks. Yet we are all ‘brothers of other mothers.’ Intriguing.”
“I didn't know you knew Patton.”
Logan’s shock amplified on his face. “Oh? There is another? I was referring to my nonsensical theater major roommate Roman Sanders.”
Virgil’s smile grew. “Oh my roommate’s Patton Sanders! Nice guy, pretty infectious with his kindness. I wouldn't be surprised if you knew him.”
“Are his energy levels...extensive? If so I believe I've heard of him, but we never held a proper conversation before.”
Virgil shivered, “Sometimes he can be a lot, but I know he means well.”
“Well, this is...quite intriguing,” Logan laughed, nodding in acknowledgement. “From one Sanders to another, I look forward to speaking with you again. Though I must warn you, I am not one for social interactions. I'm afraid I'm quite terrible at them.”
“Oh trust me, I loathe people with a passion.” A smile seeped through Virgil's persona. “But...you’re not that bad Logan.”
“Likewise, Virgil.”
Someone pinch him he was dreaming.
The professor was on paternity leave, so the college had to have another professor fill in until he returned. This guy also looked similarly to all the other Sanders in the room. Oh, Virgil couldn’t wrap his head around it. He hoped his last name wasn't Sanders too. That would be too perfect.
A-And...Patton was in this class!? Since when??!!
“Virge hey!”
Patton Sanders: cutie pie number one and most trustworthy best friend of all time. Without him, Virgil wouldn’t be the man he became, and he certainly wouldn’t be as happy. Patton was the kind of dude who’d always have your back even if times were tough, and his personality could soothe even the strictest beings on any planet. If the world was ending, Patton should be protected at all costs. Without Patton, reality would be unbearable to live in. This world's beacon...chose to sit beside Virgil of all people. Virgil!
“I tried getting you up this morning, but you wouldn't budge,” he giggled, “So I let you sleep in a bit. You really needed the rest kiddo. I'm proud of you for finally getting it! Classes can be hard but you're doing your best, and that's what matters. And you matter. The only thing that doesn't matter is energy!”
Typically he'd be upset if someone didn't wake him up, but it was impossible to have any bitter emotions towards his own definition of perfect. He allowed a chuckle to slip past his lips over the pun. “Thanks Pat.”
“Anytime!”
Virgil hated being selfish, but he'd give anything to keep Pat by his side for the rest of his life. Not because he was compassionate and breathtaking...even though those traits were quite a treat too. No, Patton was more than that. It was impossible to explain how...but he just...was. He understood Virgil better than anyone else! Sure he could do that with anyone, but he chose to invest his effort in a closeted emo jerkbag.
Virgil never imagined being cared for in such an honest way.
“Morning guys gals and non-binary pals! Settle in your seats please.”
Scraping chairs and hushed murmurs filled the room with white noise Virgil could care less about. This guy sounded like the least professional person on Earth, yet he had a firm aura about him. Virgil was intrigued. Finally, a professor who didn't seem like a total dickwad.
“I'm Professor Sanders-”
The whole class groaned immediately.
This didn't amuse the new guy whatsoever. “What seems to be the problem?”
“The whole world is literally taken over by Sanders people,” a kid groaned, earning a glare from Virgil, “And they're all in this class. I'm surprised I'm not one at this point. It's like a disease you can't get rid of.”
Virgil nearly skyrocketed from his chair at Logan's sudden outburst. “I'm sorry our last names are a hindrance to your daily entertainment, but it does not affect your education or health, therefore eradicating the ridiculous notion that the same name owned by five people in the same room can even remotely compare to a catastrophic illness of any kind! I suggest you rethink your wording before you allow such intense accusations to frivolously fly from your ignorant flapping gums again.”
“Jeez it was just a comment. Don't get so uptight.”
“Like you have any idea how it feels.” Patton growled, cheeks flushed and paired with a glare that sent tremors down Virgil's spine.
“Woah Pat,” he whispered under his breath, eyes not leaving his best friend even when he was caught red handed. But Patton just smiled like he always did, booping Virgil's nose with his index finger. That made a smile creep up his face. Way to lighten the mood buddy.
“So I take it this is your way of loathing attendance? I'll keep that in mind.” Professor Sanders chuckled, “Speaking of attendance, is Raleigh Ackles here?”
“Present!” A ginger girl cheered, arm shot up like a firework.
“Excellent energy! How about Vincent Applebottom?”
“Yo. Just call me Vin. Like Vin Diesel, but without the Diesel.”
“Noted.”
Virgil nearly fell asleep twice. It always took ages to get to the S's. And with this class, there were a lot.
The professor found this out very quickly.
“Alright. Now for the fun section.” He smiled brightly, “Logan Sanders.”
“Present and healthy as ever.” The smirk on his face made Virgil chuckle.
“Patton Sanders.”
“Yuppers!” He giggled, waving at the teacher with all the energy his body could produce.
Virgil smiled when he waved back with just as much energy. This guy seemed great, and...for once that wasn't sarcastic.
“Roman Sanders.”
“Here and queer!” A somewhat tanner and thinner version of Virgil raised an elegant hand.
“Same!” The professor laughed. “And last but not least, Virgil Sanders.”
“I'm here. Let's go to sleep.” He groaned.
There were many positive cheers. Oh the joys of constant stress and late nights. Probably the only things he related with other people. Woohoo.
“It's morning so...absolutely not.”
“Darn.”
Other students mourned their losses...of sleep. Or snickered at him. Yeah...nothing new. Cowards. Why not laugh at his face, huh?
“You tried kiddo,” Patton rubbed his back, “You can take a nap when we get back to the dorm.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Virgil smiled lazily, easily distracted with the radiant guy beside him.
Physics was physics. D=IRT stuff. More like D=IRriTation. Virgil wasn't the best at math, but he was better at it than some...at least. He wasn't really good at much...now that he thought about it. Logan seemed like a smart guy, Patton was the sweetest sunshine, and the other guy…oh shoot what was his name? Well, the extra one. You know, the one applying glitter lip gloss in the middle of class? How extra could you get? Anyway, the other Sanders seemed to be his own character. Made himself important in his own way. Even the teacher was impressive, keeping energy in a class of tired young adults. So...what was Virgil? He certainly wasn't any of that. He had nothing to offer to society...like he cared. Society can go-
“Make sure you complete this assignment by next class,” Professor Sanders said firmly, “And yes, it will be graded. You'll find out very quickly that the homework is heavy on points.”
“And th-the tests?” A girl quivered in her seat.
Oh no.
The professor's baritone voice rumbled in an inhuman...laugh? Could it be considered such? Venom seeped from his parted lips, eyes half lidded in a possessive manner that had every student trembling along with the girl who asked. Who was this guy!? Virgil froze in horror, heart beating against his chest for escape, but it was trapped in a frozen shell.
“Oh...you'll see.”
Virgil grabbed for Patton's hand on top of his desk, wide eyes finding...calm orbs of light. Ah, okay. If Pat was okay then...then it won't be bad. His fingers curled over the other's warmth, absorbing the heat and calm. Everything was okay.
“I got you,” his sunshine whispered, “I won't let go.”
“I-I'll be okay.” Virgil breathed. “This is stupid-”
“No it's not. No feelings are stupid. You will...be okay and...I'm here even when you get there and don't really need me anymore. Promise?”
“I'll always need you. You're my best friend.”
A light glimmered in his eye, uplifting Virgil's spirits.
“Let's eat those cookies after classes end.” Pat smiled, lacing their fingers in a net of warmth and comfort.
“Yeah.”
There was something eating at Virgil. Something dark.
Something unknown.
What a boring day.
Virgil barely lasted through last period. Not only were the rest of his classes without Patton, but he had to share a creative writing course with...Roman. That was his name. Good job Virge! You're finally getting the hang of it! Home was more important though, and he looked forward to taking that nap.
And hey, that Logan guy was in his algebra class. His rants were entertaining to listen to...and zone out of. His voice was so soothing and monotonous, it lulled him to sleep. If only he lived with the guy. He'd probably-
WAIT
Virgil physically stopped in his tracks as he recollected the events of last period:
“I value beauty sleep more than my own life! It comes with ease and fanciful dreams!” Roman nearly swooned over his own words.
“Do you only speak in rhymes?” Virgil scoffed.
“Not always, Moonlight.” He sighed, eyes twinkling as they locked on Virgil's. “It just comes out when you're in my sights.”
“Don't call me that.”
“You're no fun.”
A tremor shook his spine. That conversation was...uncomfortable. He was way too intense.
But yeah, go back to what Logan said earlier:
“I was referring to my nonsensical theater major roommate Roman Sanders.”
IT ALL MADE SO MUCH SENSE NOW!
Roman that bastard! No wonder he could sleep well! He was cheating!
“Natural beauty sleep my ass.” he mumbled under his breath.
But he had someone they didn't: Patton.
His best friend who stayed up with him and made sleepless nights into beautiful memories. The light of his life even in the dark...especially in the dark. The embodiment of sweetness whose hugs were angelic and holy. Patton. Patton.
Virgil reached for the kno-
…um….
The door was locked.
It was never locked when Patton was home.
He. Should. Be. Home.
WhY tHe FuCk WaS hE nOt HoMe????
“Breathe Virgil.” He gasped, clutching at his chest. “Remember to breathe. He's probably out doing some club related thing.”
That's right. Patton was the president of the K.A.B (Kind And Bright) club this year. How could he forget?
Uneasiness remained in his stomach, but he felt a little less panicked over the situation.
It lessened even more when he found the note hung on the fridge;
Hey cutie patootie~💖
Just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be out until 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The door will be locked just in case. We can share those cookies when I come home ❤. Help yourself to them without me if you want to too! If you need me for anything send me a text (I know you know that already but...just in case you need a reminder 💕).
Love you 💙💙
Patton
“You're quite the artist,” Virgil chuckled to himself, relaxing instantly as he maneuvered towards the couch. He felt much better knowing Patton wasn't in danger. But, he still deserved a nice flop. Screw the springs of the couch! They were almost as crummy as society itself.
So you know what you do with that information?
Flop!
Despite his little rebellious speech, the springs were actually durable. Huh. Interesting. For crummy college dorms this was actually a comfortable couch. His body flopped perfectly, not heavy enough to break the furniture...but also not too light to bounce back up. Virgil was very intrigued and pleased with the couch. They could be buddies if this keeps up.
And it did...for two hours.
It was in the form of a nice nap.
The door opening startled him from his peaceful slumber.
“Aww you took that nap! How cuute~!” Patton cooed, closing the door behind him. “If only I had my camera ready.”
“I'm glad you didn't.” Virgil grumbled, sitting up so he could stretch and yawn with ease. His muscles warmed from the pressure.
His other source of warmth pouted, crossing his arms. “Memories are meant to look back on. Without pictures it's difficult.”
“But then you'll remember my ugly face and trust me Pat, no one wants that. Not even you. You’re so good and perfect and I’m just-”
“That is enough out of you!”
H-Huh?
Virgil blinked, eyes wide as Patton's anger nearly blinded him into an alternate reality. He'd seen him irritated before, but...not like this.
It disappeared as soon as it had arrived.
“I uh...sorry about that,” Patton coughed, cheeks flushed. “Rough day. I didn't mean to snap at you…I swear.”
“It's okay.”
You know those people that live off of hugs? The ones that need them all the time in order to feel safe? Pat was one of those people, and Virgil thought it was a curse at first. He cared for the guy but...he hated hugs. He always felt trapped in a cage of limbs. But then he experienced one of Patton's hugs and...his world spun in a new direction.
He looked forward to each one.
The minute he opened his arms, tears streamed down Patton's cheeks.
Oh boy.
Virge wasn’t good with tears, especially Patton’s. He hated seeing him cry.
Don't cry. Don't you dare. Pat needs you. Be the constant he's always been for you. Don't let him down again.
“I missed you so much.” he sobbed, jumping in his arms. “I-I…I tried so h-hard to…”
“I missed you too.” Virgil smiled, resting his lips against the top of his head. “You did so good today. I'm proud of you Pat.”
But the tears crashed harder into his shirt. “Th-They hate me Virge! I know they do!”
“I'll physically fight them.”
A watery laugh escaped his lips, “B-But that’s my job for you.”
“You’re my best friend too.” Virgil pressed a soft kiss against his head. “An eye for an eye, ya know? And the best part? I want that. We aren’t forced to be this way.”
This was a bittersweet bliss. Holding Patton in his arms gave him so much energy, so much warmth. It invigorated him, but the moment would be sweeter had he not gotten hurt. He yearned to pummel them into next week, but if he actually beat them up...his light could go out.
“I’m sorry…” Patton whispered, puffy eyes meeting his. “You had a rough day too and...you don’t deserve all this mess.”
“You’re right, I don’t deserve this.”
He knelt in front of Patton, smiling sadly as he brushed the bangs away from his eyes. “I never deserved you, ever since the first day we met. You’re so much better than me in so many ways, and I’m...well...without you I’d be that troubled teen pent up with rage.”
He chuckled at the memory, slightly embarrassed over how brash he’d been. Young Virgil was much more rebellious and temperamental. Every little thing set him off...but then Patton bumped into him and...everything sort of fell into place. That guy was stubborn. No matter what Virgil threw at him, he always had some sunshine to give...and it managed to melt the punk into mush.
Now he was just walking mush.
And he liked it.
Loved it.
“You changed me for the better and...you deserve better. So much better and yet...you stayed.”
Don’t cry Sanders. Don’t you fucking cry.
“Aw of course I stayed! I’d be crazy not to. You’re sweeter than you give yourself credit for and...you say I saved you?” Patton giggled, “If anything you saved me. I wasn’t in a good place when we met and...well...you taught me how to be stronger. I’m much better than I was!”
“I’ll always be there for you. No matter what Pat I swear on my life. I’ll never leave you.”
“Promise?”
“I do.”
Each day ticked by, unrelenting and unforgiving...but Virgil never broke his promise. Each expression exchanged was payment towards a beautiful, undeserving life. He gazed up at the moon, softly smiling at the sky above. Stars glittered the void, once deceiving...but each year gave him more understanding. Patton said they were like little nightlights the angels used to find each other whenever they got lonely. It was a comforting thought, even if Virgil didn’t understand what he meant back then. Even through the confusion and ignorance, Virgil never left...and neither did Patton. They were tied together with an invisible string.
They finally understood. Virgil could see vivid color, and Patton’s smiles could widen to their full capacities. The desperate yes that slipped past his lips with steady streams seeping through thick dark cotton. Virgil never left...never wanted to leave. And he didn’t. He never did.
It led them into a dream that could have lasted forever.
After completing their scholarly journeys, they bound themselves together with white roses and well-awaited I dos, making their promise stronger. Life was...made of purpose. Virgil’s purpose was always Patton, and they way he practically glowed as he walked down the aisle with Professor Sanders…it was something he’d never want to forget. His husband to be truly was the most beautiful man alive.
And after that?
There were times when that promise almost broke, usually due to Virgil saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, or Patton had a bad day and needed extra attention. But it was those same instances that brought about the best heart to hearts, and they relied heavily on each other until the end of time.
Yes...there was an end.
And it was in this moment that Virgil could smile with dripping nostalgia, leaning his cheek against the cool stone beside him:
Patton Sanders
The brightest Sanders of them all.
“I hope you’re able to find the other angels Pat,” he whispered, adjusting the flowers in their vase with his wrinkled hand, “The stars don’t seem bright enough. Not as bright as you. They’re so lucky to be able to be to you. I’m not too far away...so...wait for me...promise?”
Virgil greeted darkness with a wide smile and white rose in his hand.
“I promise.”

( caitlin , twenty five , ast , she/her ) — ┊ don’t tell me that’s MEGAN FOX ? nevermind, it’s just SHANNON MORENO. they are THIRTY THREE years old, CISFEMALE, and have lived in savannah for EIGHT YEARS. they work as a BARTENDER AT JINX and go by SHE/HER pronouns. some would describe them as ASSERTIVE while others say they are CHEEKY. either way, no one suspects that she’s hiding HER PREGNANCY FROM A ONE NIGHT STAND THAT RESULTED IN A MISCARRIAGE.
“ STAND BACK DEBBIE DOWNER ! ” this rowdy lil copout cheerleader is shannon (better known as ‘auntie shan’ by her regulars) moreno and she’s the rootinest tootinest basic badass bitch you’ll ever come across. homegirl originates from tennessee , lil bit of honky tonk & a lil bit of rock n roll , and moved to georgia when she was twenty five simply bc she was bored and needed a major change in her life.
she’s all about having fun 24/7 and living her best life. self proclaimed prank war champion, never turns down a party, and is just all around your classic provocative girl. pretty laid back, always playful, and hella flirty ( she hits on everyone swear it ). howeVER she’s also momma hen...ish ?? like she uses cutesy pet names ( hunny, sweetie, darlin’, etc ) and she wants to make sure everyone else is also living their best life but not like getting too out of control ok.
growing up with an older sister, an older brother, and a younger sister... she kinda suffered with middle child syndrome, which resulted in her being an absolute s h i t h e a d as a teen. she’d sneak out in the middle of the night with the boys her parents warned her about, smoke in the girls’ washrooms at school, used fake ids to purchase booze and get into bars/clubs, vandalized the neighbourhood however she could with whatever she could... girl was a savage. classic defiant party girl is the very essence of her childhood.
basically that Wild Child lifestyle carried over into adulthood but much tamer now and slightly more responsible ( ??? maybe ). i mean, she’s serious about her job bc she loves it and couldn’t imagine doing anything else with her life. if customers buy her shots, she’s taking them, but within reason... she won’t get plastered on the job anymore. shan just loves a good time. she’ll joke with you, she’ll listen to your shitstorm of a life, she’ll flirt a lil, and she’ll make hella tips behind the bar with her spunky ‘tude. it’s a win/win scenario man idk.
however, her recklessly spontaneous ventures took an unexpected ( and unwanted ) turn. now, shan isn’t one to tie herself down, obviously, so she’s familiar with the no strings attached rule. a drunken one night stand, like any other she’d experienced, left her making silly mistakes under the influence, which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. it took a couple weeks of feeling ill before shannon made a doctors appointment and found out she was seven weeks pregnant. despite how devastated and shocked she felt, she honestly wasn’t completely certain what she wanted to do; she was conflicted.
during her second trimester, unfortunately, she had a miscarriage. her doctor explained it was a result of an incompetent cervix, which basically meant she wasn’t able to hold the pregnancy. this entire ordeal occurred almost a year ago, and she’s kept it secret. to this day, nobody knows that she was even pregnant, let alone the fact that she had a miscarriage. she simply played it off as catching some sort of stomach bug.
a few wanted connections i’d love to have for her: some gal pals she can hang with, co-workers / regular customers whom she sees as family, a handful of past and/or current one night stands / flings / fwb ( guys and gals pls ! ), maybe someone she rubs the wrong way and she knows it so she’s a dick abt it and just... doesn’t care if they don’t want her around OR vice versa aka someone that rubs her the wrong way etc., maybe an ex she tried having a legit relationship with and ended up breaking their heart?, OBVI it would be cool to have the fella she had a one night stand with / knocked her up bc the drama could be wild...
i’m also super down for whatever, if you have any wcs that you could see shannon filling !! brainstorming is cool too just pls plot with me xoxxo
#ghq.intro#miscarriage tw#alcohol abuse tw#im a Dumb Bitch tw#i got super caught up in playing rdr2 but !!#here's this mess & i'll be sweeping through the starter tag shortly ;*

Jessica Jones Season 2 Easter Eggs And References
Instead of a six sentence Sunday this week, since it’s been over a week since the second season of Jessica Jones dropped on Netflix, I bring you lots of Easter eggs. They’re all broken down by episode so you can skip to the ones that interest you.
First and foremost, before we even get into the episodes, is this that someone pointed out on twitter. Just like in the first season where plenty of iconic imagery from the comics was used, even the promotional image Netflix uses this season is based on a comic book panel. And just like in season one, the episode titles are all actually voiced in the episodes.
S2E01 AKA Start At The Beginning
Metro General
Apparently, this is the only hospital in New York, and its staff, other than Claire Temple, is all pretty much useless since they didn’t notice a teenage girl suddenly appearing out of thin air 17 years ago.
Lizards Wearing Human Skins
This probably isn’t an outright Marvel reference since it’s used as a joke in sci-fi all the time, but when one of Jessica’s potential clients mentions this, it reminded me that Agents of SHIELD did confirm that one of Marvel’s reptilian races, the Gegku, exist in the MCU since Fitz was wearing their larva as a pin in season five. As for the “wearing human skin,” Agents of SHIELD also did that with the Chronocoms in season five, and we know that the Skrull (who are shapeshifters) are heading to the MCU in Captain Marvel next year. So, hey, maybe it’s a reference after all.
The Whizzer
A guy with a penchant for yellow and blue who happens to have super speed isn’t just an invention for the show. Though his name is revealed as Robert Coleman, he was Robert Frank in the comics, and really popular in the 1940s. He was a character some fans theorized would pop up on Agent Carter because of his ties to the time period, but he was adapted for a (brief) time on Jessica Jones instead. The character actually fell out of favor with audiences as Captain America gained popularity. His comic book origin was the result of Dr. Emil giving him a blood transfusion from a mongoose… which gets a reference on the show too, though in a surprising way.
Trish’s Patsy Costume
That costume, right down to the colors and the go-go boots, is something teenage Patsy would have worn in the comics. They’ve really done a nice job at the callbacks for this character.
The Killers
The movie playing on the rooftop is the 1946 movie The Killers, which was adapted from an Ernest Hemingway story. In it, a boxer was paid to throw a fight and thinks he’s going to be killed after the fact. Which is basically the backstory for Daredevil’s father.
Trish Keeping “the others’” Secret
Trish makes a point of saying that she didn’t reveal Jessica’s identity on her talk show, even if it’s easy to trace Trish to Jessica. But she also mentions that she didn’t reveal any of the others. That’s a reminder that the two of them have now met the main players from Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist in The Defenders in case anyone forgot that Trish’s superhero complex wasn’t just a result of her friendship with Jessica, but living in a world full of heroes and just being Trish.
Maynard Tiboldt
The hypnotist that Trish mentions is a comic book character called the Ringmaster, just like his father before him. He debuted in the sixties in the comics and used a mind controlling hat while he was in charge of the Circus of Crime. A version of a Ringmaster actually appeared in Iron Fist as well, so I feel like this is more a case of the writers wanting to reference another controlling male character than planning on doing anything with him.
Crap On Jessica Day Is Next Month
Okay, so I know this isn’t a reference since writers didn’t know exactly when the show would be released when they were writing, but I found this line by Trish funny only because Infinity War’s release date was officially moved up to April, which is the month after Jessica Jones drops, and when the world will, presumably, go to crap, for the heroes living in it.
S2E02 AKA Freak Accident
Josie’s Bar
Look, it’s not just Matt, Foggy, and Karen who like to take their shots at Josie’s anymore. It’s becoming a regular Netflix hangout. And one with a Game of Thrones pinball machine.
The Patsy Walker Posters
The illustrated images used are pulled straight from old comics.
Those Spider-Man References
The idea of a spidey sense and the whole “with great power” phrasing has become such a large part of pop culture, that it they might not be a purposeful shout out to Spider-Man, but they should be. “With great power comes great mental illness” from the Whizzer and Griffin’s “scoty-sense” being referenced reminds comic book readers that on the page, Jessica was actually a classmate of Peter Parker’s when she was a teenager - which is obviously a very different timeline than the MCU. Jessica even had a crush on him at one point, but literally no one even noticed her until her family’s tragic accident. She didn’t take it well.
Simpson’s Inhaler
It plays a role later in the show too, but it’s confirmation that Will Simpson is a character inspired by Nuke if the red and blue pills from last season weren’t enough. In the comics, the pills activate his adrenaline, strength, etc. This season, he’s upgraded to the inhaler for a quicker method of application.
S2E03 AKA Sole Survivor
Foggy Nelson
So, it’s not just Josie’s that Jessica Jones is borrowing from Daredevil. This is just your reminder that Foggy now works at the same law firm as Jeri Hogarth. Him reaching out to someone having a tough time is probably also serving as a reminder that he’s having a tough time of his own - he thinks his best friend is dead.
Leslie Hansen
Hansen might just be a fairly common last name in the MCU, but it could also be that this doctor is related to Maya Hansen, seen on the big screen in Iron Man 3. She was one of the scientists working on the Extremis serum, and over the course of the movie, she was killed. Fun fact: She was originally supposed to be the villain of the movie, but the script was changed because Marvel didn’t think a female villain would sell toys. I like to think that Jessica Jones, a show that had all female directors for its second season, and all female artists doing its posters for promotional work, picked the name Hansen on purpose to prove a point, but that might be reaching.
Captain America’s Action Figure
We’ve seen Avengers toys and things in the MCU properties before, but it’s a nice nod here that this action figure belongs to a kid that lost Cap’s shield, so he had to make him a new one… which is exactly what just happened to Cap himself since he’s getting a new shield in Infinity War. Also a fun nod? A magnet was used to attach a new shield to the toy. There was a time in the comics when Cap used a magnetic glove to make sure his shield returned to him.
S2E04 AKA God Help the Hobo
We Prefer Gifted
The MCU has typically thrown around the word “enhanced” when it comes to people who were experimented on and ended up with abilities. “Gifted” is used less often simply because of its association with X-Men and the divide between Marvel Studios and FOX. It’s an interesting choice to have Jessica use the term (she also used it in season one) now that FOX has its own Marvel superhero show in The Gifted, which is set in the X-Men world.
Are you bulletproof?
I think Vito asks Jessica this as a nod to Luke Cage, but it could be a coincidence. He’s the only hero we know who got press for being bulletproof in the MCU though.
Hedy Wolfe
When audiences get a glimpse at the magazine cover highlighting Trish out with Malcolm, there’s a smaller headline that reads “Hedy Wolfe clashes with gal pal.” Hedy was one of Patsy’s costars in the comics.
S2E05 AKA The Octopus
Malcolm’s Painting
Funnily enough, Malcolm had a painting of an octopus in his living room in earlier episodes. I don’t know if someone in the writers room just really likes the animals or what.
“I know how you people like to team up.”
It does seem to be true in the MCU that one super powered person leads to a group. We’ve got the Defenders, the Avengers, the Secret Warriors, SHIELD itself, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
David Kawecki
Not a comic book character, but I think this name might be a nod to Annette Kawecki. She was a cover artist and letterer for Marvel in the 70s. The promotional team for the show released posters/book covers for every episode this season all designed by women, so I like to think this was a purposeful shout out. Especially since the character liked to draw. I feel like there could be more names that acted as shout outs to women in the industry as well, but I didn’t catch them all.
Don’t smile.
Okay, probably not an intentional Easter egg, but you have to admit that seeing a guy tease Jessica not to smile when he’s taking her picture actually made you smile instead of the sick feeling provided by Kilgrave’s command for her to smile.
S2E06 AKA Facetime
Purple and Yellow
I’m sure everyone knows that purple makes up the primary color in Jessica’s show. Each of the Netflix Marvel series has a signature color, so when Jessica and Oscar get busy and knock the paint over, of course it’s purple. The color isn’t just a nod to Killgrave’s Purple Man, but also the color that dominates her comic book covers. The working title for the series is also Violet. Funnier to me is that during the sex, they also manage to knock over the yellow paint, even when Jessica tries to move the paint cans out of the way. Yellow is Luke Cage’s signature color. But maybe that’s just a coincidence.
Karl Malus
The doctor that did all that experimenting is based on a comic book villain. He wasn’t one of Jessica Jones’ villains though, but Jessica Drew. Rumor has it Jessica Drew could be making appearances in Spider-Man movies soon, so that seems appropriate.
Jessica’s Painting
Oscar’s painting for Jessica might have a pretty distinctive style if you’re familiar with the comics. David Mack creates art in that same style (pretty sure he’s who painted everything that belongs to Oscar) and designed comic book covers and posters for Jessica Jones.
S2E07 AKA I Want Your Cray Cray
Jessica’s Mom
The big reveal here is that Jessica’s mom is alive. In the comics, Alisa Jones is the name of the woman who adopts Jessica, not the name of her birth mother, but the show’s using the name all the same.
Gentech
Genetic Technology seems to be the fun way to name many a research company in the comics. So many companies get called “insert name here” Gentech. In fact, Maya Hansen worked for a company called Prometheus Gentech. So, it’s nice that carries over into the MCU as well.
That Music Video
Everybody else got some serious Britney Spears vibes from Trish’s music video, right? Similar aesthetic, similar pop music, and similar career path (at the time).
Jessica Campbell Jones
In the comics, the family that adopts Jessica has the last name Jones. Her birthname is Jessica Campbell. Since the show had Jones as her name from birth, adding in Campbell as her middle name was a nice touch.
“I’m gonna live forever.”
Yes, I think this is more of a reference to FAME than anything else since Trish wants to be seen as extraordinary. But maybe it’s also a hint to Patsy Walker’s comic book destiny of dying and only to get super powers in Hell and come back as the hero Hellcat.
I’d also like to point out how sad it is that Jessica’s love for boots and leather jackets, plus the name of her business, is the result of the last serious relationship she had before the mess she got into with Luke Cage. The past was haunting her even before Killgrave.
Touch of Evil
The rooftop movie that we get a scene from here is the 1958 film Touch of Evil which is actually famous amongst film critics for its tracking shots. Who else is famous from long tracking shots? That would be the Marvel shows. Every Marvel Netflix show (and Agents of SHIELD) has employed single take fight scenes.
S2E08 AKA Ain’t We Got Fun
The Raft
Yes, you might recognize the name of this prison. It made an appearance in Captain America: Civil War. You might remember it as the place in the middle of the ocean housing the Avengers that aligned with Cap. It was also in the comics before that.
Don’t feed the trolls
I feel like every woman in the entertainment industry has probably been told this about interactions on social media, so this line was probably easy for a show run by women to add in.
Trish Has Claws
Yes, she totally scratched up a guy’s face, a nice nod to the fact that Hellcat wears gloves with claws in the comics.
S2E09 AKA Shark in the Bathtub, Monster in the Bed
Stan Lee
He doesn’t have his usually police officer poster cameo. Instead, he appears on a poster advertising a law firm outside of Port Authority. Maybe he’s really a model?
Forbush
That law firm Stan is advertising is Forbush and Associates. Forbush-Man was a Marvel character. He was created for Marvel’s comedy magazine called Snafu. (Forbush also happens to be the last name of the police captain that Lee usually cameos as.)
S2E10 AKA Pork Chop
A Plant Based Component
I saw someone mention that the plant based component in the inhaler that couldn’t be identified might be a nod to Black Panther’s heart shaped herb. I like the idea, but I don’t think that’s the case.
“There’s a hole in your soul.”
This line reminded me of the fact that Trish’s mother actually attempts to sell Trish’s soul in the comics in order to extend her own life. Things like that are actually fairly common in the comics with things like the Darkhold, Ghost Rider, and Mephisto dealing with actually demons and a dimension that Mephisto likes to pretend is Hell.
S2E11 AKA Three Lives And Counting
Feline Distemper Vaccine
Amongst the things that Dr. Malus uses on Trish during the procedure to give her powers is the Feline Distemper Vaccine. Feline. Like for a Hellcat. The writers were not messing around with the Hellcat foreshadowing this season.
Cell Block D
Alisa was held in the same part of the prison that housed the Punisher and Kingpin. It’s where all the most dangerous Netflix criminals go.
S2E12 AKA Pray For My Patsy
WJBP
The station depicting the news has also appeared in other Marvel Netflix shows, and if I remember correctly, Agents of SHIELD.
“You can’t stop selling your daughter even if it kills her.”
Again, not just a reference to the fact that Dorothy Walker in an opportunist, but also to the fact that she tries to sell her daughter’s own soul in the comics.
Turk
Hey, look, it’s New York’s only street level arms dealer. Really, he’s appeared in every Netflix show so far, typically getting beat up by a hero for selling a weapon to a bad guy. At least this time around, he didn’t get beat up.
Doctors Giving Powers In Back Alleys
There’s this idea that people want superheroes so badly that they don’t care how they get them, appealing to shady doctors in suspicious areas to get the job done. This bit of dialogue is actually reminiscent of an Alias comic book storyline (that’s Jessica’s original comic book) that saw gangs kidnapping people with mutant abilities and harvesting Mutant Growth Hormone from them. It was made into a drug that they dealt.
S2E13 AKA Playland
You just used up two of your nine lives… not to mention those reflexes
Yet another nod to Trish and her feline ways, prompting more speculation that she’ll finally become Hellcat when she appears in the Netflix shows again. The end of the episode shows she’s got some super reflexes now, a reflection of her character’s agility in the comics.

Closing the distance
Dianakko week day 7 Free Day
@dianakko-week
A/N This one shot is a nice shout out to all the long distance relationships that happened thanks to the fandom and lwa cause I know several people got together thanks to this lovely show. Speaking of which, this one shot is dedicated to my lovely gal pal @oceankasko who I met thanks to lwa <3
Summary: After 2 years of a long distance relationship, Akko and Diana finally meet.
“I can’t believe this!” Amanda howled with laughter, her hands clutching her sides as she bends over laughing with tears skimming the corners of her eyes. Diana look could already feel the heat of embarrassment brush over her cheeks as she stares at the times on the board. “We came here 2 hours earlier than we needed to because Diana is too gay!”
“Amanda!” Lotte chided as people started to stare at the girls as they walk past them with disapproval, whether it was because Amanda was laughing too much and caused a slight scene or because Diana is an open gay, Lotte didn’t care and didn’t really want to know.
“It’s true though!” Amanda reasoned, her laughter dying down as she wiped away the few tears that were near her eyes. She stands up, one arm on her hip as she points to Diana who is facepalming near them, red cheeks just peeking from her hand. “Look she’s not even denying it!”
“That doesn’t mean you need to tell the whole airport about it though!” Diana scolded as she looked up and to the side to meet Amanda’s eyes but all that did was trigger another wave of cackles and laughs for Diana didn’t look all too intimidating with a tomato flustered face. “This is brilliant,” Amanda laughed as she picked up her rucksack and moved to a seating area, the other two following behind her. “Like this is gold, 24-carat cavendish gold,” she snickered as she sat down on an empty seat.
“For the 88th time Amanda, my house does not have gold hidden in some hidden basement or room,” Diana hissed as she sat next to her.
“Ah but that’s what you want me to think,” Amanda said with a smirk.
“I personally showed you the blueprints of the house,” Diana said quickly in hopes she would stop. Amanda did not.
Amanda shrugged, “Blueprints can lie-
“They were the original copies!” Diana exclaimed as she faced Amanda fully, as far as she was aware no one made any changes par the general repairs and refurbishment.
“Then they aren’t worth anything because they are wayyyy outdated,” Amanda said as she put her hands behind her head. Diana was about to lose it there and then, the red on her face that was once embarrassment shifted to anger and it clashed with the pale blue shirt that had a nice ocean crest in the middle that she was wearing. She was really really tempted to hit Amanda with her handbag that was in her skinny jeans.
“Amanda, would you please stop antagonising Diana? You're supposed to here to support her meeting her girlfriend Akko.” Lotte said as she sat on the other side of Diana. She was wearing a pretty yellow summer dress with various flowers at the end. In her hands was a book of her favourite series Nightfall, and it was already opened with the pages flicking every now and then.
At the mention of her girlfriend, the bright red face of anger turned to a darker scarlet, the angry snarl of her lips transformed into a shy smile and the cold blue flames in her eyes flickered to the warmth of a fire that came from a fireplace and slowly the warmth spread all over her body as her mind is swarmed with her presence: of small recollections of late night messages, of her beautiful face and smile, of the human angel that is Akko Kagari.
In all honesty, she has no clue why or how she managed to meet and fall for the girl, and online on a hellish social media website in a fandom of all places. If someone told her that this was how she would meet the greatest person in the world when she was younger, she would’ve taken them to the nurse’s room to see if the person was ill and probably stay away from them. She just couldn’t see how this was even possible! Even now there are some days where Diana would wake up and ask herself how is Akko real? How are they real? Then she looks at her phone and her heart would flutter when she sees Akko’s adorable smiling face on her home screen and she becomes glad that they are real and now today it would be even more real when she hugs her for the first time.
Her daydream mind talks end there as Amanda talks once more, “Actually Lotte, you’re here to support her, I’m here because I made these two idiots get together so I need to see it happen again in real life.”
“You’re here because you have the only decent video camera to record our first meeting.” Diana corrected. “Also with the promise that you make our meeting look one of a kind.” Diana also included when Amanda opened her mouth to argue before shutting up at the promise she made late at night playing a game with all of them. Diana gave her a small smirk as she looked away to the distance, one thought replayed throughout her mind; she didn’t deny the fact that they did meet through and got together through Amanda.
When they first meet… it wasn’t the greatest first impression.
In a short summary, Amanda was close friends with Akko, a new cosplayer who dabbles in fanart and dabbles even less in fanfics. Diana was this highly acclaimed fanfic writer and theorist of the fandom and was just only a frenemy of Amanda. One day Amanda vented at Akko about Diana which caused Akko who is protective of her friends to slide into her DM to yell at Diana. Of course, no matter how Amanda tried to quell the flames of anger, the private fight between Akko and Diana of squabbles and disagreements continued on until one day Amanda told Akko to leave Diana alone a bit from the arguments.
Curious on why, Akko did not leave Diana alone and asked what was wrong and in the heat of the moment Diana confessed that she is being pestered by a person who claimed that she is stealing her work and ideas and no matter how much she tries to explain and argue her points the person refused to listen. It made things, even more, worse when Diana refuses to bring this to light to the fandom community for she does not wish her followers to send death threats to such a simple but long-winded misunderstanding.
What Akko did next not only surprised Diana but everyone else that knew about Akko. Akko in public confronted the person and with every newly added statement made, Akko seemed to turn the information to her favour, coming up with ideas and ways to tackle the problem that Diana never saw before. After a long fight of a week of drama, the person admitted that they caused this to only make Diana look bad due to extreme jealousy that their fic is getting pushed away by Diana’s and was quickly thrown out of the fandom.
When Diana confronted Akko days afterwards when everything on both their ends died down, Akko confessed that the same thing happened to her but through cosplays in a different fandom and no one wanted to believe her so she left and vowed never to let anyone go through the same things because she wanted everyone to be happy. After that Diana and Akko quickly became friends and instead of arguing for hours they talked for hours and hours and before they knew it they were crushing on each other.
Diana fell first, she touched by Akko’s passion and kindness and protectiveness and determined nature. Then she admired her laughs and funny jokes and memes. Without realising Diana fell for her and she fell hard. She only realised it when she hasn't seen Akko’s cosplays and for the first time in her life, in her writing hobby, Diana was found lost for words. Her eyes could never leave the screen. They just kept staring and looking at Akko, they were lost in Akko’s beautiful red eyes, she was entranced. Then when she looked down and saw her smile… Diana’s heart jumped. It jumped more and more as Diana stalked her cosplay photos and general selfies she posted and by the time she reached the end Diana’s heart sunk that there wasn’t anymore.
That was the moment where Diana realised she had it bad.
Naturally, of course, she went to Amanda about it who didn’t believe her until Diana posted a gay poem about her ship but with lines that also doubled as confessions and her feelings for Akko. The hints were too obvious that she was talking about someone else and that was when Amanda decided to play the wing woman.
Akko fell as soon as Diana did, or at least she recognised it as a crush. Akko had a lingering feeling that Diana was special hence why she stayed around so much and it’s only when they became closer, Akko saw why. Diana just amazing, she could write so much and update so frequently that it was insane, every compliment given was received with grace and modesty and every public fight made Diana seem so much nicer and smarter to Akko. She helps people with writing tips, helps them get more exposure for their fics and even if someone told her that she was ill, Diana would give them good solid instructions to make them feel better and they worked.
Then Akko was invited into Diana’s group by Amanda who was also there and Akko swears that when Diana talked it was the sound of angels. She was so dumbfounded that she shouted in surprise because she was so lost in thought of Diana and decided to spill the information on Amanda. Long story short, Amanda was fed up with them dancing around each other and shoved them in a private 3 way call where they confessed after a lot of talking and they became girlfriends which lead them to now, where Diana is waiting for Akko to arrive in the Heathrow airport.
/-/
“So…,” Amanda said as she fiddled with her video camera, her eyes lost of its usual thunder and spark for teasing and annoying Diana. She sighed, turning off the camera when she had no reply from her friends. She turned to the left of her, to see what Lotte and Diana were doing. Lotte was once again her her nose deep in another Nightfall book, though it surprised Amanda when she leant forward a bit more to see and saw that between Diana and her there was a small pile of books she already read or will read through when they wait.
Amanda blinked, accepting the fact that Lotte came with maybe 5 or more books to the airport and right under their nose. She turned her attention to Diana, rolling her eyes as Diana’s eyes are staring into the distance. Amanda knew what she was thinking of, anyone would with that sincere dopey smile, of that obvious lovestruck grin that stretched across her face. She was thinking of her darling Akko, the girl who they were waiting to meet.
Amanda’s mind fell back into the topic of Akko. She leant back into her chair, leaning more on her palm as her elbow was resting on the back of her chair as her eyes drifted upwards. She won’t lie to herself that the fact that Diana fell for Akko was a huge shock. Sure before when Diana was venting to them in the discord about how annoying Akko was and they teased her about liking the girl since boy she talked a lot about Akko yet she never expected them to actually get together.
Also, she didn’t expect them to stay together for this long, not that she would ever tell them of course. She just thought considering how much they fought before they might fight again and break up but Amanda didn’t mind being proven wrong, one easily tell that they were good for each other. Not to mention Diana being flustered over Akko and vice versa was the best thing to mess around with.
They, especially Diana had the best reactions. Amanda remembered the time she hosted a video call and it was the gay losers’ first time seeing each other through a screen. Diana couldn’t stop staring at Akko and her mouth was open like a big fish and a tomato face. Whilst Akko talked in Japanese for 15 minutes because she couldn’t think straight. Then again, Akko never thought straight to begin with.
Amanda looked at Diana once more with a small smile on her face, hidden laughter conveyed in her smile before exhaling a long breath as she looked around, waiting for anything to get her bored attention. She shifted in her seat, keeping her ears open for any noise that may be used to her. There was the constant shuffle of movement and wheels squeaking as they roll on the tiled floor. The muffles of small talk, the soft thuds of when luggage hit the ground or when bodies briefly collided when passing.
As Amanda thought, there was nothing for her to pass the time, how long will it take for Akko to arrive anyways? They’ve been sitting down for a while now.
As if it was an answer to her thoughts, the generic beat of airport music was cut short, replaced by the shriek of a 3 beat alert, the signal of an important message delivered through a muffled robotic voice. “This is an announcement to say that the 13:30 flight from Japan has landed-” Amanda didn’t have a chance to hear the end of the message because she was instantly shouting in Diana’s ears.
“Diana, Diana, Diana” She repeated, shaking Diana out of her reverie with every name pronounced.
“What!?” Diana snapped back to Amanda with a glare. Amanda just smirked at her as she turned on her camera and faced it at Diana, looking through the lenses. She was not going to miss Diana’s reaction to this great news.
“I repeat: The 13:30 flight from Japan has landed…. ”
The sudden switch from anger to pure happiness and excitement was everything Amanda was hoping for.
Amanda was so glad that she recorded that moment. The way Diana’s narrowed glare of her blue eyes started to widen, the fire of annoyance that burnt in her irises expelled into this spark, this flare of happiness. Her smile that was so full and reached the corners of her cheeks erupted from the lined lips of annoyance. Amanda could see the star’s glint in her eyes, the rainbow’s happiness in her smile. It reminded her of her childhood photos she saw of Diana when she was younger, of that young, pure, innocent sense of happiness before her mother died.
“However due to an accident in the landing strip, the arrivals from the 13:30 plane from Japan will come through Arrival Area D oppose to Arrival Area A.”
If Amanda wasn’t so happy to see Diana’s face when she found out that her girlfriend will arrive sooner than expected, Amanda might laugh at the shattered shocked smile. The sudden startle in her eyes, the way her mouth hung open like a dead fish. Of course not out of malice, but because of the suddenness of it all and the fact that Amanda has a tendency to laugh at many things.
They all stayed there, suspended in an air of shock and surprise, even when the third and final notification replayed ended and the generic beat of the airport music played once more. Amanda was the first to snap out of the trance or realise that they were standing there for 7 going 8 minutes thanks to the runtime showing on her video camera. “Hey, Diana…” She said with a nervous laugh, she had no clue on what would happen next.
At the mention of her name, Diana snapped awake in a heartbeat. For a split second, Amanda’s eyes reached Diana’s and Amanda knew what she was going to do. She could just see it in her desperate eyes. She saw it in the reflections when she’s been caught sneaking around. The girl was going to bounce. Something Diana would never do was it not for Akko’s intervention of some sort and for some reason, Amanda was not okay with that.
Before she knew it, Diana fled from her eyes.
“Diana!” She shouted, waking Lotte from her small trance as well. Diana ignored her shout as she came around the end of seats. Amanda didn’t hesitate to heave her backpack on her arm, one hand still holding the camera, mouth a quick apology to Lotte before she races after Diana.
She should be excited about this, this was an interesting meeting that only Diana and Akko can pull and if she wasn’t worried about them being kicked out for causing trouble for running she might be. “Amanda slow down, they still need to get through security, we still have time to meet them!” Lotte called behind her. Amanda paused, her breath slows to deep intakes and long exhales as she looked at Lotte who smiled at her as she caught up. “Now why don’t you tell Diana that so that she won’t get into trouble.”
If Amanda was a better friend then maybe she would. Instead, she laughs as she shakes her head, “I would but where was the fun in that?” She adjusted her bag over her shoulders, “Come on maybe we could get Diana treat us to lunch for running, especially if it looked like we chased after her.” Amanda grinned before chasing after the runaway gay. “Diana!” She called, “Slow down a bit!”
/-/
Diana internally laughed at herself, she came early out of excitement and so that she can have her arms open and Akko would jump in her arms and she would spin her around, hugging her as they laugh together before she sets her down and kisses her. That was her ideal plan, this: running across one gigantic airport and let Akko meet her all breathless with messy hair was not.
But this current scenario is reality and so Diana needs to adapt. It’s a good thing she didn’t bring the violet and yellow lilies as a bouquet for her or else there would be a trail following her as she runs. Maybe if she gets there quickly she could have time to calm down and fix her hair but she knows that idea is against the clock. She wasted precious time already watching her ideas and dreams of her perfect way for them to meet shatter and crumble in her head.
Quite frankly, if Amanda didn’t call out her name she might’ve stayed there forever. She can hear Amanda from the distance actually, calling her name and telling her to slow down. Diana did not; nor did she look behind her in case she would collide with someone.
Before she knew it, she was in the right arrival area and with a few minutes to spare. Diana quickly became familiar with the seats as she collapsed on them to heave oxygen back into her lungs. Even then that still didn’t help the rapid pace in her chest, the ball of excitement that surges in her, bubbling and brewing like a volcano ready to explode. She is so excited, the thrilling sparks of anticipation are just electricity dancing between the nerves and the bones of her being.
Finally, she can be with Akko.
After so long, after so much waiting and dreaming for this day to come.
“You are either the dumbest, the most useless lesbian I have ever met or the most desperate lesbian I have ever met,” Amanda said through fast pace breaths of air. One hand leaning on a nearby chair, the other clutching the video camera tightly, the lens pointing at Diana.
Diana jumped from her seat, totally caught off guard from what Amanda said. “You would be like this if you are just seconds away from meeting your girlfriend for 2 years for the first time,” Diana argued, her eyes narrowing, her chest still rising and falling in the final attempts to normalise her heart rate.
“Yeah,” Amanda conceded her voice getting a bit louder, “But I wouldn’t run here like a madman!”
“We are just minutes away from meeting each other!” Diana reasoned, crossing her arms. Her eyes looked up at lingered on the clock. She wished she can speed up time, this wait seemed unbearingly long.
“Actually Diana, we still got 30 minutes left at least, They need to get their baggage and passports checked out and make it past security,” Lotte said to her with an apologetic smile as she walked to them with, she wasn’t tired at all. Unlike the other two she walked instead of running and chasing but how can anyone run with those heavy sets of books.
There was a long pregnant pause between the three of them. Lotte glanced between the two, Diana’s eyes were wide with surprise whilst Amanda gave her a small frown that didn’t quite match the smug amusement in her green eye. It didn’t take long for Lotte to see why Amanda was still filming this entire thing. “So are you telling me I didn’t need to run?” Diana asked, her eyes wide, cheeks flushing a warm pink from embarrassment.
“Well, if you wanted to you could and you did but…” Lotte reasoned as she put her bag next to Diana’s chair. “You really didn’t need to.”
“My apologies,” Diana muttered as she covered her face in an attempt to hide her face. “Clearly I wasn’t thinking straight.”
Amanda snorted as she moves closer, the lens focusing on Diana’s bashful and embarrassed expression, “You never been thinking straight to begin with Diana.” Amanda laughed, moving back as Diana leaned forward to grab the camera. “Hey come on Diana, you wanted me to catch a 'one of the kind' meeting between you and Akko,” She reasoned as Diana left her chair to cover the lens of the camera. “Besides it’s not every day your perfect hair is a mess.”
“Amanda!”
/-/
“Would you stop bouncing, it makes you look like an idiot.” Sucy chided as she nudged Akko at her side. They were waiting for their bags to come and Akko couldn’t stop bouncing. The Japanese girl grinned widely at her, her eyes being fireworks, an extravagant display of the sparks and flames of anticipation.
“But Sucyyyy, she’s here!” Akko squealed as she clasped her hands and brought it close to her chest, her squeal hidden within her intertwined hands.
“Oh boy…” Sucy muttered with a roll of her eyes, she could just tell what the girl was going to talk about next. Anyone with within a 10 feet radius could see what Akko would ramble on about.
“Diana is here!” Akko giggled as she twirled around, her steps were giddy and elaborate as she danced around Sucy who grumbled under her breath. “Diana is here and I’m meeting her~” Akko sang as her eyes closed and the world disappeared around her. She waited for this day to arrive, this day where they meet. The dream that powered her to work hard in her classes, get the grades needed to go to England with her parent’s permission.
No longer did she need to dream of holding Diana in her arms, the dream of kissing her till they are both out of breath, those dreams can become realities. They have been together for two years but to Akko, it was more than two years. Time sped up for them when they talked but it also slowed down and paused like it was the only two of them in the world but that was always something that happened.
Diana always found a way to make her feel special, to make her be something she isn’t. She won’t deny it, Akko knows she is a clown, a clutz who always mess up despite trying so hard. She understands why people laugh at her when she proclaimed that she was going to England to study. She could see why teachers would try to talk her out of it, why her own parents were hesitant about letting her stay hours after school to study for an exam they thought she could never pass. She even saw it in herself, she would look at herself and laugh and joke that even if she didn’t pass she would be content on going down as the biggest laughing stock of the year.
Yet Diana… Diana never believed that. Diana wholeheartedly believed her, she knew that she could pass the exams and come to England to study in the Luna Nova University. Diana would look at her say that she sees a queen, a queen who despite her flaws, bad habits and quirks were the best thing that ever came in her life.
Diana could make her smile with a simple message, with a picture her heart would race and her voice… Diana would always deny it with a cute fluster but Akko swears on her chariot cards that it was the sound of an angel. Now just meeting her, being in her embrace would make her be the happiest person to ever exist and she just hopes for the rest of the time they were together she would return the favour.
“Hey lovesick, what does Diana look like again?,” Sucy said as she nudged Akko once again, snapping her out of her daydream over Diana. They were walking for a while, their bags already collected and they were just heading to the arrival area, Akko’s suitcase was decorated with rainbows and the iconic image of a 4 pointed star that belonged to Shiny Chariot.
Akko’s serene smile broke to an excited grin, “Diana looks beautiful, she has this long and wavy blond hair that always look so fluffy and soft,”
“Okay,” Sucy said pausing for a bit, her eyes looking in the distance not that Akko noticed. “What is the colour of her eyes again?”
“Blue!!!!!” Akko squealed as she shut her eyes once more, the enchanting image of her eyes. “They are the greatest shade of blue, like its sooooo pretty and beautiful and I could just get so lost in them.”
“I see…” Sucy mused as her smile widens a bit more as she tugs on her shirt. “Hey, Akko I think I found her.”
Akko forgot to breathe.
Her head turned so quickly to Sucy’s direction, her heart jumped into her throat as her voice hitched. She can see her.
She can see her clearly despite the many people walking between them. Her eyes linger on her hair as it moves, her heart flips as she flipped it. Her images, the pixel faces she saw her through phone lied. Her eyes, those beautiful ocean blue eyes she can never stop staring at on her phone were stunning and were more beautiful than anything she ever saw.
She can feel her heart skip beats, she can hear the buzz of anticipation flow through her vein, the rush of fire that spread to her cheeks. This was a sensation she can never truly describe. She couldn’t think at all, lost for words and mind. Seeing Diana made Akko, the girl who couldn’t stop moving become still, the sight of her rendering her useless. So it’s a good thing she fell back on instincts, on her impulsive nature.
Her hands fall from the grip of her suitcase as she ran forward. It fell to the floor, the same time she shouted with all the love she had.
“Diana!”
/-/
Diana heard her name and her eyes grew wide. She recognised that voice anywhere. Every time she says her name, the cute unique way she says it, her heart thunders like a stormy ocean night, where wave after wave of overwhelming emotions drowns the oxygen in her lungs and swept it away.
She turns around, the world going deaf around her apart from one thing. The sound of running, of her name being said again and again like a song on repeat, the song her heart dances. Her eyes break into small tears, small happy tears as she sees who is running to her. A thief, a beautiful dorky thief in a shiny chariot shirt and ripped jeans and converse shoes that stole her heart and breath away.
“Akko,” she breathed before she runs to her. “Akko!” She shouts again, the thrill and happiness blooming from her voice.
“Diana!” Akko answers with a wide smile that mirrors Diana’s.
They meet halfway in a clash of arms that wrap around tight around the others. Akko’s arms were hugging tight around her waist and Diana’s arms clung to her shoulders as she pulled Akko closer and bury her head on her shoulder. “Akko,” Diana cried as her hands roam around her back and one moves across to the top of her hair and runs through it.
This is real. This moment is real. This was actually happening. All of that longing and waiting, of sleeping giddy in an attempt to push away the emotion of loneliness that Akko was not cuddling her right now was worth this moment. Where time froze and it was just her and Akko.
Diana can feel her weight on her body, she can smell the shampoo in Akko’s hair as she buried her face in it. Her cheeks hurt from smiling too much, so much as she held her closer, tighter in a way that screams that she won’t ever let her go.
When they pull away after the longest time hugged, Diana, can’t help but laugh at the height difference between them, even if it was just a couple of inches, “You are so small,” She laughed as she placed both of her hands on Akko’s cheek, her thumbs rubbing away the happy tears that stain them. Akko chuckles, a sound that makes Diana’s heart melt, her knees go weak as Akko turns her head slightly, placing one hand over hers and kisses the inside of her palm. If Diana wasn’t aware of the burning sensation on her cheeks, she could sense it now as it burns through her entire body.
“And you are so beautiful in person,” Akko murmurs to her palm before she turns her head again to face her.
Diana doesn’t know how to react, her mouth opens and closes like a fish. She doesn’t know how to react to this, usually, she is the one talking smoothly to make Akko blush that adorable shade of red but now she is caught off guard and is just a blushing fool in love. Akko giggled again as she put her other hand out and wiped away Diana’s own set of happy tears, smiling softly as she does so. “Lost for words again Diana?” She teased.
Diana smiled at the tease, removing her other hand to hold Akko’s and without losing eye contact with her, intertwined their hands together, their fingers fitting together like two pieces of a jigsaw. Her smile turned into a smug as the soft pink around Akko’s cheeks deepened in colour, her mouth slowly squirming in a bashful smile as Diana brought Akko’s hand and hovered her lips above it. She isn’t going to kiss it, not yet.
“Of course,” Diana admits with a chuckle, laughing even more when she can hear Akko’s gulp, her eyes not leaving Diana’s except only to glance at her lips or her her hand that is so close to it. Diana knows exactly what she wants and as a great girlfriend, she will give it to her. “Your angelic presence always made me speechless my darling Akko.” She whispered in soft sincerity before she kisses her hand.
Her lips lingered there, her eyes closed before she opened them, pride swelling inside her as she saw her darling Akko all red in the face and looking adorable as ever. “You did that just to one-up me didn’t you?” Akko accused as Diana removed her lips from Akko’s hand. Diana laughed at the words Akko said, she recognised those words. She saw it before in a text form when she sent Akko a photo of herself all too quickly to make the gal be flustered. She can see where this conversation was going and her heart raced even more at the thought.
“Maybe I did? Maybe I didn’t?” Diana mused as she made the distance between them became smaller. She let go of Akko’s hand and cupped her other cheek with it. “The question is Akko,” she smirked, her eyes glancing at Akko’s lips, a quick signal that she wanted this too and the way Akko’s hand tighten as Diana cups her cheek shows that she wanted this as well. She leaned closer, inches of a distance between, the stage was set and it was now the great finale of the show. Diana ignored the pounding of excitement in her chest, the sparks of electricity across her nervous system, of how her legs and knees are trembling as she stared at Akko.
“What are you going to do about it?”
Akko did the same thing she replied with to her text that night, many many months ago.
Akko kissed her.
Diana expected this, she knew there was a likely chance for them to kiss when they first meet, but she wasn’t prepared for this. She was on fire, heat burnt through her skin, red spread from her face to the tips of her ears and knuckles as her thumb rubbed circles on Akko’s cheek as she pressed deeper into the kiss. The other hand moved to her waist to pull their bodies closer as Diana relaxed to the Akko’s fingers threading her tresses of blonde, of how her other arm wrapped around Diana’s neck anchored her to reality. Her eyes stay quiet, closed as her mind tried to capture the moment she longed for and desired for so many months. Whatever she dreamt of, when Akko consumed her ever waking thoughts, it was nothing compared to what she feels now.
There was nothing that she could describe, Diana for all her writing glory was lost for words. Nothing would ever justify how right it felt having Akko’s lips move against hers, how intoxicated she was from it all, how despite her breath slowly being seeped away, she wanted more. This was the thrill that came from a Chariot show, the familiar comfort of writing, it was the fireworks that left her in awe, it was the autumn breeze on a sunny day. It was everything she ever loved all placed in a melting pot and served straight to her lips.
After was seemed like an eternity, they broke apart. Their eyes fixated on each other, giving Diana more chances to admire the beautiful unique colour of her iris before Akko placed her forward against hers. “Why must you be so good at everything Diana?”
Diana laughed at the question but that only prompted Akko to continue. “You are such a great girlfriend, writer, friend and now a great kisser.”
“I could teach you if you like?”
“If you’re going to teach her to do you mind giving a private lesson,” Amanda said, breaking the mood entirely. Akko smiled sheepishly as she buried her head into Diana again and Diana flushed red as the others smiled at them. Amanda however, laughed at the response, her eyes flip to the camera, still recording them and closed it. This part of the story is documented, it was up to them to document the rest.

Pairing: Blake/Ilia (Calico) Words: 8′290 AU: @dashingicecream‘s RWBY!Rock AU Content Warnings: NSFW Summary: A confused Blake is left fighting her feelings. Should she ask Weiss for a real relationship or just continue their commitment-free arrangement? Seeing her ex in the evening might make that choice a little harder.
“A double whiskey, please.”
Perhaps drinking with a mind so messed up wasn't the best idea. But what were the other options? It seemed pointless to wallow in confusion all day when Blake could just have a few drinks to clear her head. Maybe the answer really was at the bottom of the glass, or maybe she’d be pushing it back to figure out another day. That was a problem for sober Blake to worry about later.
Who knew the casual conversation her and Yang had would be on her mind all this time? Blake absolutely didn’t, but she couldn’t stop thinking about the answer she gave, and how easily it fell from her lips.
“We’re not dating.”
That answer almost became a mantra to Blake. Even after two weeks, she had conflicting emotions about that answer she gave. It was correct, but it was an answer that raised an important question in her head.
“Why aren’t we dating, though?”
Well, there were numerous reasons. They were on tour together, for one. Tensions would be high at times and that could cause arguments, arguments could lead to breakups, which could destroy the band entirely. With the band being Blake’s only lifeline away from the world of The White Fang, that wasn’t an option. But the second reason was just that. The White Fang.
The relationship she had left behind there was a mess. While it could have been blamed on her naivety back then, Blake had always blamed herself for allowing it to get as bad as it did. Adam would control and manipulate both her and Ilia with the threat of ending it before they were ready, or display behaviours that were continually destructive and threatening to others, making them both fear when tempers rose in all other situations. It was a toxic atmosphere, one Blake had gathered great courage to leave, but one she never quite got over.
“But Weiss wouldn’t do that to you,” She tried to convince herself. “She isn’t Adam, she’d never use the relationship as a threat when she felt like it. And when has she ever even raised her voice at you?” She blushed to herself at that thought. “Well, except the times you ask her to…”
Resting her head in her hand and tapping the bar with the other, she continued to think as she watched the barman getting around to making her drink. “You’re both more or less dating already, just without the sappy words or the commitment. Would it really be the end of the world to ask her and try to move on with your life?”
“Here ya’ go, double whiskey with ice.” A rock glass containing ice and whiskey was pushed close to her arm, cutting off those thoughts for now. “Sorry ‘bout the wait, gal over there with the ponytail insisted she get this one for you.”
Blake looked to wear the barman gestured behind him. Could it be Weiss? Maybe she did come to the bar to get a drink just to spend company with her for the night. Looking over she scanned the crowd, trying to spot the trademark platinum blonde hair among them. But when her eyes aligned with a ponytail, she completely stopped.
Definitely not platinum blonde. Blake stared over at the Auburn hair and at its owner. Far darker skin than Weiss, dotted with even darker spots on her arms, shoulders, and cheeks. There were similar bright blue eyes, but this was someone completely different, and one of the last people Blake expected to see again.
Ilia.
Taking her drink, she took a long sip of it first to calm her nerves. It’d been a very long time since she’d seen her ex-girlfriend, so of course, it’d thrown her off. But the White Fang had broken up months ago, chances were Ilia and Adam did before that. It was unlikely he was present, but one could never be too cautious.
Still, desperate for answers, she made her way over. She slid herself onto the spare seat by Ilia’s side, resting the glass on the bar. One couldn’t be too careful, she took a quick glance around first, before asking;
“What are you doing here?”
The girl scoffed, rolling her eyes. “ Hi, Ilia, ” she said in a mocking tone, clearly imitating Blake. “ It’s been so long, nearly a year! Thanks for the drink by the way, how have you been doing? ”
Even with so much caution, the mockery did make her rethink the approach again. Obviously there was no ill intent, otherwise, she’d have never spent a dime. Blake turned slightly to face her, idly tracing her finger up and down the rock glass. “Can you really blame me for asking? Haven’t seen you for so long then suddenly you buy me a drink outta the blue.”
“Hey, I was just as surprised as you to see you here.” She nursed her own drink again, bringing it to her lips and taking a sip. With a content sigh, she answered Blake’s question. “Figured I’d try my luck, saw you and… well, here we are.”
“Yeah? Well, afraid you’re not getting lucky with me.” Taking another sip of her whiskey, Blake allowed the silence to sit for a moment. It really had been so long since she last spoke to her. Not even a call or a message. Despite being so close and intimate to one another before, so much time had passed she no longer knew what to say.
“... How have you been doing?”
“Oh, y’know… Hangin’ in there. Found myself a regular job, got an apartment, boring shit but that’s life.” A small smile formed on her lips at the question. At least she realised Blake actually did care. Turning towards her, she spoke a little quieter. “I went to your show last night.”
Blake’s ears perked up in surprise. Seeing Ilia was enough of one, but learning she’d actually wanted to see her in her new band was even more of one.
A fact which Ilia noticed, “I’ve been listening to your guys’ sound for a while, you’re all really good. Seeing tickets on sale afterward, I couldn’t really resist taking a peek,” She smiled gently, idly swirling her drink in her hand. “I wanted to check you were doing well, that you were happy. And while you weren’t exactly jumping around everyone like the old times, I could see you were.”
“Huh…” Blake looked away, staring blankly down at her own drink again. “I didn’t think you’d wanna see me, not after I left the way I did.”
Knowing it would come back to this, Ilia shrugged her shoulders. She finished off the last of her drink, before lowering her glass again and pushing it back to the bartender for another. “It hurt like a bitch, I ain’t gonna lie about that. But I got over it, realized you had to leave. We both did. You leaving was the main thing that helped me realise what a monster he was anyway.”
All the talk of wanting to create new memories, everything Weiss had said about creating new ones and a better future; it was all being tossed aside as they dug into the past. But they were all answers to questions she’d had for a long time. No matter how much it hurt, Blake needed to know. It was a welcome relief to know Ilia didn’t hold any bad feelings against her for her quick exit in the past, making it a relief that she was spared having to explain; but it did hurt to know Ilia took the brunt of the downfall.
But Ilia… She noticed. She cleared her throat right away to change the subject. “Listen, I’m not here to cry about what was when life’s so much better now. White Fang’s gone, you got a new band, I got a new life, water under the bridge. So, are we going to sit here and cry about the past, or am I gonna have a drink with my old gal pal?”
Turning back to Ilia again, Blake found a smile forming on her face. That was the Ilia she remembered, one that could always make her drop everything and just focus on the good things in that moment. Even with how good things were, she had to admit it was a part she’d missed all this time. Maybe having Ilia back in her life would be a good idea after all.
The choice was easy. Finishing her drink, she slammed the glass down again, immediately calling; “Another double and whatever my friend’s having?”
Half an hour later and it was like no time had passed at all. Both got one another up to speed in no time, learning of the other’s ventures on their own, their current goals and wants anything. Pretty soon Blake was wondering why she was ever stressed about seeing Ilia again, finding herself settled right into her company once more.
It seemed the feeling was mutual to her ex-girlfriend. Now the initial hurdle was over, Blake and her could bond together again just like old times. Perhaps not to the same level or with the same amount of intimacy, but it was still just as meaningful and caring, or so she hoped.
Which moved Ilia on to the final subject of the evening to catch up on. Taking a sip of what was now her third drink, she asked; “So, got anyone else new in your life, if you know what I mean?”
Blake smirked to herself, eyeing up her own glass as to debate on it she should have another or not. She wasn't drunk and didn't want to be this evening, so was deciding against it for now.
“Not in that aspect,” Blake clarified. “Just a few casual encounters to blow off steam. No point in commitment when you’re on the road.”
“I’ll drink to that.” And she did, taking another sip before placing it down a moment. “Haven't been in the mood for commitment either. Hard enough to find someone who’s cool with me let alone someone who wants to commit to it. But whatever, single life isn't too painful.”
“Means you can do whatever the hell you want, big change from him .” Blake didn't give the man the pleasure of saying it aloud again, even if he wasn't here. Instead, she smiled at Ilia again. “Do what I’ve been doing, blow off your steam, then leave. No awkward questions, no clingy guilt, just you and a friend having a good lay.”
“That’s really how your life is now, huh?” Ilia smirked, looking up at her.
Blake found herself pausing at that comment. No, it wasn't at all how her life was now. Sure, she hadn't committed to Weiss as such, but she didn't exactly leave her either. It was consistent. And that involved becoming closer as people, as friends. If there was a label, they were more or less in a relationship. Just a very open one.
Still, that wouldn't exactly make Ilia feel better to tell her that. So she played into her own comment. “Sorta?”
Humming in agreement, Ilia pushed the remainder of her drink back to the bar again, clearly showing she was done for the evening. She looked at Blake again, tapping the bar with her fingers for a moment. She was thinking of something.
“You know, I should,” she agreed, giving a small smile. “It's been long enough since I've had any action and I can't be fucked with the dancing around with that stuff. Might as well just dive in and ask for what I want.”
“There you go.” Blake nodded in agreement.
Taking the dive, she leaned in toward Blake and asked calmly; “So, your room or mine?”
Blake scoffed a moment, trying to hold back a small giggle. She didn't expect Ilia to be the joking type. “Good one, you got me there.”
But Ilia’s expression didn't change. She didn't laugh or roll her eyes, or anything of the sort. She remained calm throughout, waiting for Blake’s laughter to die out. Only then did the question really hit home and she asked; “Wait, you’re serious?”
“Dead serious.” Shuffling herself closer a moment, she took the opportunity to tease Blake for her nativity, looking into her eyes with a half-lidded expression. “I mean if you wanted to? Would save me the time of dancing around with a noob figuring out if they’ll be game. And not to mention…” she pressed her fingertips against Blake’s upper thigh, walking them slowly upwards over the skin until one rested on her crotch area. “We understand each other’s bodies better than most people in here would be able to.”
Blake felt her breath hitching up. That offer was terribly tempting. Previous experience had her knowing all too well that Ilia was good, even if it was a relationship long over. She had a point, it would be very rare for her to casually meet another woman who could know her that well. Even Weiss, who was still excellent in the bedroom, had some things she just never would understand due to being cisgender. But someone with a similar body to Blake’s, like Ilia herself, could grasp the concepts a lot better. And that was before applying previous experience.
“So, what do you say?”
When Ilia repeated herself again, Blake looked over. Weiss had been uninterested in hooking up tonight so the only other plan would have been a movie and bed. Something that Ilia’s offer far bested. In the end, it was her heat doing the talking. She made her answer clear when she pushed herself out of her seat, encouraging her to follow shortly after saying;
“My room.”
The door to Blake’s hotel room swung straight open, and the two were immediately rushing inside in a heated embrace they hadn't shared in years. Contrary to her usual with Weiss, it was she who was submissive. Ilia was pushing Blake into the room with her, both lips locked and giving their all as the paced toward the bed, merely being cautious not to trip beforehand.
Once the back of Blake’s legs hit the bed, she fell backward, pulling Ilia with her on top. They returned right to deep kissing, both moaning on the occasions they took a breath, humming with desire. It had been a long long time Blake and her slept together, and a long time since Ilia has this sort of attention at all. They knew what they wanted, there would be no delay in them getting it.
Blake felt Ilia’s hands slide up her chest and immediately begin undoing the buttons on her shirt one by one, a gesture Blake was trying to return as she reached up to her, moving her hands over her body in search of any zips, buttons, something to get those clothes off. When there was nothing she could feel right away, she groaned in frustration, pulling herself out of the kiss.
“That’s cheating.”
“Is it?” Ilia had pulled Blake’s shirt open in that moment, looking down at her with a slight smirk, cheeks going red when she looked down at Blake’s exposed chest, only contained now by the black bra beneath. But as fun as teasing further would be, Ilia was needy herself. She took the time instead to sit upright, unzipping the back of her dress and letting it fall from her body, where she kicked it away to one side to be forgotten about. Now down to her underwear, she was significantly more naked than Blake. “Now it's fair.”
In awe at the display before her, Blake’s mouth hung open as she stared up at Ilia. It’d been a long while since she’d been staring at her smooth skin or the freckles that dotted it. Even now, it was a site that she revealed in. Both in an endearing way and in a way that got her hot under the collar. Face as red as a tomato, she quietly whispered. “Still as good as I remember.”
The dark brown skin pulsed into a pink, the darker freckles becoming a lighter red to express her own blush. But also her eagerness to continue. Desperate to carry on, she continued to the next step, reaching to unbutton Blake’s jeans.
Blake offered no fight back, in fact, she shook her hips to make the job of removing them so much easier, allowing for her lover for the evening to throw them off into the corner with an ever-growing collection of clothes. Both were down to their underwear, and both didn't want to waste time any longer.
“Hmm…” Ilia looked down with a wide smirk on her face as she reached behind, fiddling with her bra to get around to removing it. “I’m assuming if you’re this rearing to go, you have what we need, right?”
Having just tugged her own bra off and tossed it aside, Blake paused. That… was a good question. It’d been so long she didn't even think she’d need any particular supplies again asides from Condoms, which she had plenty of. But sex with Ilia required something… a little extra. Something she didn't have anymore. Looking a little ashamed of herself, she shook her head.
“Well good thing I got us covered then, huh?” But to tease, she pulled at Blake’s legs to bring her closer again. Moving her hips forward, she ground her pelvis up against Blake’s backside firmly, drawing out a soft moan from there. Growling under her breath, she giggled. “God, you’re practically begging for it! But you know I can't just charge right in.”
Gasping again, Blake looked up at the woman pinning her down and grinding against her backside. The heat that was building within her was intense, making her bite her lip to try and resist letting out a moan already. They’d barely even got going and Blake was hard as a rock, only covered up by her underwear.
Something Ilia spied for herself. She couldn't resist taking a peak, and hooked one of her fingers under one side of it, pulling it to the left to expose the hard length at last.
“Well, hello there again,” Ilia smirked in delight. Tucking her panties to one side, she then took the length into her hand for a short moment, running her thumb over the head delicately. “You are a sight I've missed…”
Blake growled with delight. She began to claw at the bed sheets, looking upward at the ceiling in order to distract herself from the pleasure she was feeling already. Likewise, Ilia’s hand was a feeling she missed, especially with the gentle care she gave, particularly to the head at the top. Already she could feel she needed a real distraction to try and prevent herself meeting her finish far too soon.
To try and accomplish that, she wound her legs around Ilia’s hips and used them to force her forward again, ramming her into Blake’s rear end.
Forced to grind up against Blake’s backside, Ilia let out a small purr in delight. “So very eager…” From the way that forced her own breath to pick up, Ilia was eager as well. Deciding to get straight to it at that point, she drew her hands away again.
“Tell me,” Said hands had gone to her own hips, lowering the black panties as she spoke, “How many partners have had you this way since we’ve been apart?”
Blake watched as Ilia kicked her underwear off her foot and to the remaining pile of clothes, before looking over to her again. The view of Ilia’s bottom half was obscured as she held her legs in place, but she gasped again at the feeling of her flesh against that of her ex-partners.
“Only you.” She answered honestly, trying her best and failing not to seem so needy. She released Ilia’s hips from the grasp of her legs, and shuffled further upward onto the bed, allowing her partner the space to climb on with her rather than be forced to lean over. “No one’s been interested in having me this way since you two…”
“Interesting.”
When Ilia did just that, Blake gained a much more rewarding view. Below her stomach, a small trail of short brown hair lead toward a hardened, smooth length. Rock hard, just like her, rearing to get on with things just as Blake wanted. “Then this ass is still mine then, isn’t it?”
There was an odd thrill in that. Not just in seeing another hard cock by her own for the first time in months, but in knowing that no one else apart from her ex-partners had penetrated her behind like they had. It was known to them both, she knew there wasn’t the worry of having to teach her how to do certain things she liked. But more than anything, it was the very faint thought in the back of her mind that the few good things had never really ended.
While Blake nodded, Ilia was already preparing for the next step. She’d pulled her bag to their side and was already retrieving a few items. Two condoms, and a small, pink, travel sized bottle. There was a small grin of delight from Blake when Ilia took that bottle into her hands, rubbing it between them rather quickly.
“You remembered to warm it up this time,” Blake whispered.
“You always got twitchy when it was cold,” Ilia teased, popping the cap once satisfied with her work. “Still gonna be a little cold though.”
“Just do it,” Blake begged, hating how needy she sounded. “It never really mattered that mu-OH! F-F-FUCK!”
The instant Ilia squoze a hearty helping below her sack, Blake instantly shuddered, legs twitching and muscles clenching. Even warming the bottle didn’t help in her rather harsh reaction to the sudden change in temperature.
Ilia just laughed, capping the bottle away once satisfied and reaching for one of the two condoms. “Oh my god, that never gets old! You’re so sensitive down there.”
Finally managing to calm down, Blake resumed her position once again, spreading her legs to give Ilia the space to work with. She watched as Ilia tore the packet open, retrieving the small plastic ring. “Well, yeah. It is still my…” She debated a moment, before looking off to one side, narrowing her eyes. “I’m not giving you this satisfaction.”
“Aww, can someone not admit where I'm about to put my fingers?” Ilia asked. She pulled the sheath down over two fingers on her right hand. Satisfied with her work, she already brought her hand below.
Next thing Blake knew, there was something rubbing the lubricant in. Not only did the covered fingers spread the viscous fluid around the general area, but they began to push against the tight ring of muscle between Blake’s cheeks. With each circle, she pushed a little more, giving a healthy amount of time for the muscle to loosen up and allow her advances.
“You know, you always used to make little faces and bite your lip while I did this,” Ilia taunted. Once it was loose enough, she pushed her covered fingers further inside, sinking into the loosened entrance with ease. She watched as Blake did just that again, biting her lip, grabbing the sheets and hanging on as they pushed in and out of her body, twisting and turning to touch at all angles. With a smirk, she allowed her fingers to curl once they were at full depth, using that to tease, “Yeah, just like that.”
“ Oooohhh… ” A strained moan followed while Ilia toyed with her to get her ready. She couldn't help the occasional twitch in her legs or clenching of muscles. Already it was incredible sensations, and this was just a mere taster of what was to come.
Satisfied that Blake was ready, Ilia withdrew her fingers again. Pulling off the condom from them and instead prepared the next packet, Ilia looked up at her ex-girlfriend again, looking right into her eyes for a moment as she got ready.
“You’re sure you want to do this?” Ilia wanted to be clear. It had been such a long time, and they were missing one of the partners who was involved before. But there was also the position of power to think about. “I have way more condoms if you’d rather us flip over.”
“No way.” Blake insisted. She looked up at Ilia through half-closed eyes, trying to draw her in and notice her. All thoughts had vanished from her head in that moment. All the concerns of commitment, the concerns of bringing up the past, the concerns of Weiss; gone. In that moment, all that mattered was her overwhelming need to satisfy her libido. She could worry about the rest later. “You have no idea how bad I want this.”
Ilia gave Blake a grin. “Considering you’re still rock hard, I have an idea.”
Now with a covered member, Ilia got herself into position. One hand held Blake’s leg to one side, the other was trying to position her member against Blake’s rear. Gradually she began to push forward, and both of them let out a gasp of pleasure once it penetrated the ring of muscle.
Ilia took great care in starting. She moved her hands to support Blake’s legs against her, using them as balance while she pushed in a little further at a time, her pink skin turning more intense as she etched further. Blake let out a long moan in pleasure, gripping the bed sheets tight to try and anchor herself while she accepted more of the length inside.
Of all the times as of late when she’d penetrated Weiss, it was such a different pleasure in comparison. It was her turn to be at the will of her lover and take it, something she didn't realise she missed so much once it was happening again. The feeling of vulnerability was rather welcome, even more so when she felt Ilia’s hips coming into contact with her legs.
As she was drawing back out again, Blake let out another dull moan, legs trembling lightly against her lover for the evening. Her eyes fell shut. She wanted nothing more than to soak in the presence of the other and allow herself to be taken over by the pleasure that came with it. Against her better judgment, she let go of the sheets with her right hand, and instead reached and grasped Ilia’s wrist.
An action she took well, it seemed, given that she pulled back and held Blake’s hand in hers instead. In the midst of her work, she looked down at Blake below, licking her lips at the sight. Blake was in pure bliss, head laid back with a grin of pure joy on her face, moaning out loud each time Ilia moved into her again. It was everything like they both remembered from before, which in this case was no longer a bad thing.
“You’re not giving this much attention…” Ilia managed to tease in the midst of her own moans, pulling her spare hand away from Blake’s leg and instead brushing the backs of her fingers against the hard member laying against her stomach, giving a light smirk again when she felt it twitch. “Thought you’d be way ahead jerkin’ it.”
In truth, this time Blake wasn’t interested. That part had a lot of attention lately, it made an interesting change to get pleasure without that being involved. So she remained silent. That was until a particular thrust hit something.
“HNN!”
It was almost like a switch had been flipped. Everything had been good before, but that single thrust had hit just right . Grasping Ilia’s hand tightly, she found herself begging; “Right there! Please!”
“Oh, right… here?”
On the next thrust forward, Blake shuddered hard. Her member twitched as she let out a high pitched moan, one unheard of for a long long time. She immediately nodded. “Yeah! Yeah, there, please… Please don’t stop…”
“This is so new,” Ilia remarked. But pulling back and then thrusting forward once again, she grinned in delight as the twitches and moans continued, making sure to soak in the look of glee on Blake’s face each time. She was far needier than she’d ever seen. Whether that was because it was her again or just the way they were doing things she didn’t know. But god, it made for good viewing.
Blake was certainly enjoying it too. Now Ilia had maintained the angle and depth, Blake’s head swam in pleasure. She could barely even think anymore, mind abuzz with how good everything felt. Being thrust down into the bed, a hand in hers, the occasional brushing of fingers against her member. Everything was mind-blowing, and already she could feel herself getting close.
“D-Don’t hold back…” Ilia managed to rasp together through her own moans. Her skin was completely pink and burning hot, like a full body blush. Anyone could tell it was getting intense for her too. This time she wrapped her fingers around Blake’s member, trying to time it right to jerk it in time with her thrusts. The odd quivering from her own hips as she pushed in was a sign that Blake wasn’t the only one ready to blow, Ilia wasn’t close behind.
So she didn’t. She didn’t hold back anymore.
“W-WEISS!”
Grasping the hand tightly, and the bedsheets even tighter, Blake felt the pleasure swim through her veins and make her shudder all over. The member being jerked throbbed hard, and spewed strings of white seed upward onto her stomach, dotting her sweat covered body.
And below, Ilia had the same reaction. She moaned out loudly, pushing herself into Blake as far as she could get and feeling her legs shudder, and felt the spectrum of colours pulsate through her skin. Blake felt the member throbbing inside, biting her lip as she let herself tighten against it. They’d achieved a swift finish, so close to one another too.
But in the midst of their afterglow, there was something unaddressed.
“... Weiss?”
The instant the words left Ilia’s mouth, Blake was yanked out of her peaceful state. Oh shit. Anything but that.
“U-Um…” There wasn’t exactly any defense she could make about it, she practically screamed it to the rooftops. How could she so careless to call out another woman’s name during something so intense! Weiss was doing a fantastic job at screwing her brains out, that was no reason for her to be thinking about-
Ilia! Ilia was the one screwing your brains out you idiot!
“N-no?” Even now, she couldn't escape from it, but she continued to try. She laughed nervously, attempting to back away, but biting her lip when finding it tug down below. God, it was impossible to think with Ilia still inside her. “I-I said… rice. I was thinking about… lunch?”
It didn't fool anyone. In fact, Ilia gave a rather annoyed look in response. Usually, Blake was used to the skin returning to its darkened tone with brown spots, but this time it turned to red in annoyance while she narrowed her eyes.
“I’m not an idiot. Weiss Schnee, your singer, right?”
Realising she’d been completely caught, Blake gave in. She looked to one side, ears pinned down in shame, trying not to face Ilia. “Yeah.”
Sighing reluctantly, Ilia took a hold of Blake’s legs to pull herself out again. She wasn't about to lean in and offer a cuddle or a kiss after that, and instead perched herself on the edge of the bed looking downward. At the very least her skin was returning to its natural brown, that came as a relief.
“It’s not what you think,” Blake attempted to reassure her, sitting upright again and shuffling to the edge to be close to her. “I wasn't lying about being single if that’s what you’re worried about. I just… I don't know what I was thinking about.”
“Her, clearly.” Looking toward her instead, she crossed her arms over to cover her breasts, suddenly feeling more exposed than ever despite what they’d just done together. “I know we said fuck commitments and all that but I didn't expect that to mean ‘imagine someone else is doing it’.”
“That wasn't what I was doing.” She perched on the bed with her, brushing the few strands of hair out of her face. For a moment, they sat in silence. In an attempt to try and ease the blow, Blake clarified.
“... She’s… the one I usually blow off steam with.” It couldn't make anything worse by letting Ilia know. She didn't exactly know the rest of RWBY on personal levels so there was no worry of her tells by anyone. “I’ve just gotten used to it the past three months, that’s why I yelled her name. I was just thinking of how good it felt and I forgot.”
“Right,” Ilia said half-heartedly. She grabbed her bag from the side of them, stood up and paced to the pile of clothes one side the room, tossing the wrapping into the trash can first before collecting her underwear, and starting to get dressed. “Y’know, people don't usually call their fuck buddies name.”
“... I know.” Blake’s ears were still pinned down as she looked to one side. That was just the problem. She was starting to think of Weiss as far more than just someone to bed to let off steam. Not only was she a better friend, but she was a lifeline. Someone Blake could talk to and rely on to unwind with after a rough day. And she wanted to do the same for her in return. That wasn't something ‘fuck buddies’ did.
Sighing sadly, Ilia had already put her bra back on and was sliding her dress over her shoulders. “Look,” she began, reaching around to zip up the back. “I’m gonna get outta your hair. I know you probably didn't mean it, but if she’s really on your mind that much… then maybe you should do something about it.”
“You don't have to do that.” Blake was quick to get up as well, grasping Ilia’s arm before she could start walking away, this time facing up to her fears and looking Ilia in the eyes. “You can still stay. We don't have to do anything but if you wanted to stay and just… hang out?”
She thought about that, she really did. Both of them locked eyes for a while, still breathing slightly heavier in their recovery. But while it was tempting for Ilia to say the night, in the end, she held Blake’s wrist, pulling the hand off her. “To be honest, not only am I feeling a little used, but I don't want to stick around and confuse you more.”
“... Alright.” Reluctantly, Blake paced back to let her leave. While she didn't want to let her go, she couldn't disagree with the reason. There was a lot for her to figure out in regards to Weiss, and digging into the past wasn't at all a good decision no matter how good it felt at the time.
“... I am really happy for you though.” Ilia hung around the door a little longer, watching as Blake collected her clothes again. When their eyes met once more, she offered a smile. “It gives me hope, in a weird way. You’ve got your life together after Adam’s shit, means I will too.”
Blake smiled back in return, sitting on the edge of the bed again with her clothes. “Thanks. And… I'm sorry for tonight.”
“Don't be. It was still fun. Maybe once you’ve figured your things out we can meet back up again for a real drink.” Ilia grasped the door handle and twisted, opening the door by a couple of inches. Though she found herself laughing a little. “You might wanna wipe the cum off your stomach before you put your shirt on.”
Looking down again, Blake flushed red once more, crossing her arms over said area and trying not to laugh. “Hah, yeah… I'll get onto that.” But more importantly, she offered a small wave, ears perking up again. “I’d like to meet up again. Same digits, right?”
“Same digits.” After checking the coast was clear, Ilia opened the door a small fraction to slide out, closing the door gently behind her, leaving Blake alone to get dressed.
“Anyway, I’m just really glad I’ll be seeing you soon.”
Weiss was currently ascending in the elevator, scroll to her ear and a smile on her face. She’d just left a meeting with Ruby and Qrow when she received the call from her elder sister, Winter. She’d been away with the military a good few weeks, with contact being sparse if at all. Now she was back for a month, promising to visit as soon as possible no matter what city RWBY would be. And both sisters were thrilled with said news.
“As am I. It’ll be nice to be able to speak with you face to face over a warm coffee rather than by scroll or by letter,” Winter spoke happily through the scroll, letting out a small sigh of relief. “I’ll be able to come see one of your bigger shows at last too, I’ve been looking forward to that.”
“Oh, that’d be fantastic! I can have Qrow send you some tickets with passes so you can come in after-” Weiss cut herself off, cringing at what she just said. “Or… I could contact Klein, have him take them to you and spare you from the man twice your age trying to flirt with you again.”
“Thank god.” There was another small laugh from the other end, and Winter’s voice then sounded like she was wearing a smile. “If that’s no trouble for you. Last time it was just extremely awkward. I don’t believe he quite understood the comment about being on the wrong team.”
“Next time you should wear a big fat rainbow across your chest or something, he might notice it that way.”
The elevator door opened, Weiss began making her way down the hall toward her room. Typical that her and Blake managed to get the one right at the end of the hallway. Still, it left longer to talk to her sister. “I believe the next venue is Beacon in a few days, it’s in the middle of Vale. It is huge.”
“Your biggest venue yet, so Yang was telling me. I believe she also said something about it being a sellout?”
“The last night is, which completely blew my mind!” Weiss threw her spare hand up into the air as if Winter would be able to see it. “Beacon seats over a thousand people, I can’t believe they’re all here to see us!”
“Well, I’ll have to come that first night before that too sells out, like it will.” The words of confidence made Weiss smile. Winter always took great pride in her sister and made sure she knew it, even if she wasn’t brilliant at saying it in person. “I’ll have to come with you in the evening. I have a pre-scheduled event in the morning that I don’t want to miss. But perhaps the next day we can go get a coffee or something?”
“That sounds wonderful. I’d love to.” Finding a smile coming to her face again, Weiss spoke with glee. “Hey, I think Yang said something about being in the city in the morning as well, you could hang with her a while after and make sure she’s not late.”
There was another small chuckle on the other end from Winter. “Somehow, I already knew she’d be around. I shall be sure to prompt her to return on time.”
“Good. Wow, I didn’t realise how much you and Yang really talke-”
Weiss’s voice cut off when she saw someone else walking down the corridor. A dark-skinned woman, with hair back in a rather messy ponytail, with random strands unkempt and messy, pacing back rather hurriedly. For a brief moment, both made eye contact with one another, both appearing as started as each other.
But in that same moment, the woman kept her head down, holding her bag in closer and pacing even quicker down the hallway, seeming in a real hurry to walk by her. For some reason, Weiss felt compelled to look back at her and tried to do so without it being too obvious. That was until the small voice snapped her out of it.
“Hello? Are you still there?”
“Sorry!” Looking back to her destined direction, Weiss shook her head. “Someone just walked by me, I felt a bit awkward. Goodness me though, that was definitely the walk of shame .”
A wincing came from the other line. “From experience, not a nice feeling. And this time of night too? Evening must not have gone well.”
“Apparently not. Anyway, I’m nearly back to my room now. Perhaps I can call you again tomorrow?”
“Absolutely. I have some paperwork to complete on my arrival into Vale, but I can talk and write at the same time. Take care, sister. Have a good evening.”
“You too, Winter. Good night.” Bringing the phone away from her ear, she thumbed the red button to end the call. Giving a small sigh, she smiled happily to herself. What a way to start her evening well. Talking to Winter always put her in a good mood, but knowing she would soon be able to see her made her feel even happier. And now she could wind down, end the evening perfectly by joining her friend in bed. Maybe if she was lucky they would even get to canoodle before they slept.
Finally, at her room, Weiss placed her scroll on the reader and then pushed it open, quickly pushing it closed behind her.
“I’m back.” She was already taking off her jacket, pinning it up on the hanger to one side of the door. “Sorry I didn’t join you for that drink. Qrow and Ruby wanted to talk to me about some-”
When she began to walk toward the bed, she was in for a sight. Blake was only half dressed, sat in her underwear at the edge of the bed with an open shirt while dabbing at her stomach with some tissue paper. The contents of which certainly weren’t any food product.
“... Um… Well…” Finding herself unable to stop staring, Weiss’s cheeks were beginning to heat up again. Still, she placed her bag on the nearby futon, at least starting to make herself comfortable. “You looked like you had fun while I was out, anyway.”
“Y-yeah…” Blake’s ears had pinned against her head. It was an unusual reaction for someone who’d just relieved themselves Weiss thought. “Sorry about that.”
“Oh, don’t be. Sometimes you need to do it by yourself to scratch the itch.” Weiss took a seat at the dressing table, already getting herself ready for the evening in. She reached for the small pack of wipes to one side, soon rubbing away the day’s makeup as she continued chattering. “Need I remind you of the times I’ve done it while you’ve just been reading?”
This was strange. Blake was quiet at the best of times, but never silent. She didn’t even hum or nod in response, just resumed buttoning up her shirt once she was clean again. While Weiss wanted to ask what was wrong, she didn’t want to intrude, and so stayed quiet as she leaned to throw one wipe into the trash can.
Which was not empty…
Aside from the usual contents, Weiss spied something she didn’t inspect in there. Not one, but two condoms. These cans were emptied daily, that much she knew from the past few days, but her and Blake hadn’t been up to anything that day. So why were there condoms in the trash? And on that note, why did Blake need to clean herself up if she’d used protection?
That’s when it hit her. The dark-skinned woman in the hallway, the one who was walking away rather briskly as soon as they made eye contact. The walk of shame, she must have come from Blake’s room, which meant her and Blake must have…!
“... You had someone back here?” Weiss asked. While she wanted to turn and look at Blake, she found herself unable to. Instead, she looked down, waiting for an answer.
“... Ilia was in town.” Blake admitted, stopping everything she was doing to also stare down at the ground.
“Ilia, as in, your ex, Ilia?” Weiss asked, looking back at the mirror instead, staring at the reflection of Blake just to see her reaction. “As in one of ‘the past is the past’ exes?”
Blake said nothing. She offered no reaction, not even a nod. The silence answered the question for her, and it felt as though a knife had been plunged straight into Weiss’s heart, and twisted.
She wanted to scream. She wanted to yell, she wanted to cry, she wanted to do something. Something other than continue staring at the guilty expression on Blake’s face through the mirror. Never before had she felt so betrayed or so hurt in her life.
But why?
Right at the beginning, they said it fair and square; there were no commitments. She had no right to be angry or mad at Blake, they communicated what both of them wanted right from the beginning. A commitment-free arrangement, just to blow off steam and relax until something came along. So why on earth was Weiss feeling so hurt that Blake had gone with someone else for one evening? Was she… jealous?
No. She refused to be. Quickly catching the tear that had threatened to fall with her hand, she tried to keep a steady voice as she spoke quietly.
“I… Don’t care.” That was a complete lie. But Weiss had no grounds to express her true feelings without being selfish. So she wouldn't. She pushed it to the back of her head, at least until she could let it all out privately. Blake deserved that. “We said it right from the start, no relationships. I don’t care if you wanted someone else for one evening, you know.”
“I’m sorry.” Now Blake spoke. In an almost silent voice, one that was full of guilt and shame. Despite all her attempts to hide it, she could see for herself Weiss was hurt. And in a way, she was hurt too.
“Why are you sorry?” Weiss asked, looking back at Blake properly. She could barely manage that, not without giving in to her urge to just cry. No, hold it in Weiss. You’re not allowed to. “You… did it safely, in a safe place, you have nothing to be sorry about.”
It did nothing to shift Blake’s mood. Both were saying very little, barely able to look at one another. All those weeks of growing closer as friends, those weeks of strengthening their bond and becoming something more than just friends with benefits, those brewing feelings both of them had to be the first to say something… It felt like it’d been crushed into dust. There was nothing to say, and only the thick twisting feeling in both of their stomachs to deal with. In a way, asking for commitment from the beginning would have been easier. At least it would have made the horrendous urge to scream valid.
It was only when Weiss got up and walked away Blake looked up again, managing to speak up this time. “Where are you going?”
“I’m gonna have a long shower, helps me think.” She hadn’t even taken her bag of toiletries or her own towel, she'd just walked straight toward the bathroom. Clearly, she just wanted to get away for a while. “I’m probably going to sleep on the futon tonight, the past few nights I’ve been too warm and I could do with a decent rest before we go on the long drive tomorrow.”
Blake could see straight through that lie, Weiss just didn’t want to sleep next to her tonight. But for the same reason as her, she could say nothing. Weiss was her own person, and that was her choice. Still, it hurt her to learn that was the case. “Alright. I’ll set it up for you for when you get out. I might be asleep when you do if that’s okay?”
“Fine by me.” And with that, Weiss vanished into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. A small gesture, but something she hadn’t been used to Weiss doing for a while since they’d started sharing a room together. Yet another sign she was hurt and needed to get away.
Running her hands down her face, Blake let out a moan of despair against them. That hurt far more than it should have. At the beginning of the evening, she’d been talking about asking Weiss properly if they wanted to date, to have that commitment. After so long of their time together, it made sense! Now…
Ruined. Utterly ruined. If she asked now, Weiss would see it as an insult. There’d no doubt be some sort of comment about being ‘sloppy seconds’ and ruining their friendship entirely. She couldn’t risk that. At least this way, things were just hurting temporarily. It would pass, they could go back to being buddies as they were and forget about this awkward evening. That was of course if Weiss was ever willing to share space with Blake again.
Holding her head in her hands, Blake shook her head to herself, closing her eyes tightly.
“Blake, you fucked up bad.”

Hebiichigo Head canons
not many NSFW this time. i kinda have more on her but ill maybe put that in a part 2 or something
Girl is weird. Like not fun weird. like into taxidermy and” do you want to see my collection of broken wing mirrors “weird.
Defiantly the oldest member of the stripe squad despite her size and she wont let them forget it
She acts like a grandma and uses phrases like “back in my day”
Even though she is at max 9 months older than everyone else
Unsurprisingly she is into needlepoint, felting and sewing. She really loves stabbing stuff 1000+ times and calling it art . she and deidara would get along because murder art friends
Very cynical and jaded. Her eyes aren’t naturally that semi-circle shape, theyve just gone like that over the years because shes always staring at people with faint suspicion
Sort of lowkey depressed her whole life. Would be the first to make that “you wana die? Um kinda” joke.
I think shes got some sort of skin thing going on under her big baggy jumper. Im not sure if its dermatillomania and therefore a mental thing or something more physical and closer to psoriasis. Either way the lack of sunlight and vitamin D available in Kiri means it just refuses to heal .
She scratches her itchy skin constantly which is no end of annoying to people, particularly ichrota. You can usually find her by listening for a faint “scritch scritch scritch” noise .
There have been windows broken and rooms destroyed because hebii insisnts on scratching and Ichirota insists its not sanitary and she needs to stop
She bites her nails too which is just extra ick, no wonder her skin won’t heal.
She’d sooner go naked than wear anything tight or form fitting. 90% of her wardrobe is black turtle neck sweaters
Despite being sadistic as all hell she has a lot of touch aversion and cant stand being in pain. Hence why she prefers to fight from a distance.
She is terrified of seagulls and pretty much all ocean birds. They seem to hold special hatred for her as every time she goes out she gets attacked by one.
She also holds special hate/fear in her heart for horses. THEYRE BIG AND THEYRE BITE-Y, SHUT UP ICHIROTA.
Refuses to go easy on the black eyeliner/lipstick regardless of how chapped her lips are or how many times shes gotten pink eye from sleeping in her makeup
Unlike a lot of small people she loves to be picked up and carried. Kiri is a big place and she has short legs and all this revolution takes a lot of walking
For the sake of argument im going to say shes NOT directly related to kushimaru. Maybe in the same clan but hes defiantly not her dad.
Her parents aren’t actually even ninja. Theyre lawyers ( or the ninja world equivilant) hebiichigo is another of the stripe squad with parents who are wealthy enough to give her whatever she wanted but kind of let her down in the love department.
Hebiichigos parents didn’t really plan her. Now that shes around they see her as a bit of a nuisance ( but theyre not cruel enough to tell her that) they went on vacations without her, disapeare for weeks on business trips without as much as note on the fridge and never attend any of her important events( graduations, birthdays, treason trial etc)
Even when she calls them, crying her eyes out to come and defend her after the field trip incident they don’t treat her like their daughter. They treat her like a client : cold and matter of factly . even on the car ride home ( they did manage to get her released on bail) they don’t try to console her or even find out why she did what she did.
I have big feels about the stripe squads families but ive gone on enough here
Hebiichigo was mostly raised by nannies and maids who never really cared for her, they were just doing their job. I suppose thats why she doesn’t really know how to care about people now.
She is the stripe squads best drinker. Loves sake and whisky neat. Never really gets all that drunk mind you.
She does however get bad hangovers. Every time it happens she swears shes getting too old for this shit and promises not to do it again.
Her drinking buddy was buntan before she gave it up
She also likes to have a casual smoke with her on the roof of their hideout. Hebiichigo is a much heavier smoker than buntan but she is trying to cut down.
She actually needs glasses. They really help her with her long range fighting . as shes gotten older shes tried to make the move to contact lenses with moderate success. If shes just lounging around the hideout she’ll probably be wearing her glasses.
Her favourite food is tea. Any kind of tea. If she hasn’t got a sword in her hand ( or a dirty novel) she will likely be drinking a cup of tea.
Her least favourite is anything greasy. She hates fried food or even anything with oil in it. She claims it upsets her stomach but everyone suspects shes just being picky
NSFW below the cut
Girl loves BL, Yuri and hardcore hentai manga. They are stacked floor to ceiling in her bedroom. She left one of the more questionable titles sitting on the coffee table one time and Kyoho read it. Hes never quite recovered and visibly flinches every time he sees her reading.
She prefers not to put a particular label on her sexuality. Girl is game for just about anything: boys girls, solo or otherwise. She is also up for just about any kink as long as shes the one in control.
Hebiichigo is perverse to an insane degree. Even buntan, the girl who knows everything there is to know about sex , gets confused by some of Hebiichigos dirty jokes.
Even though they’re best buds/gal pals now hebii and buntan did not get off to a good start. Hebiichigo decided to introduce herself by grabbing buntans breasts from behind. Buntan then as now being utterly repulsed by sexual contact responded by daggering Hebiichigo in the face. She now has a tiny scar on her forehead that she hides with her bangs.
Buntan took to calling her Hebitchigo for quite some time till they discovered a shared love of putting other people down

laura b**ye.
wow. you’re kind of an ass, you know that right?
i mean... there i was, fresh in the foxhole court fandom, hadn’t really made any other friends in it... just finished it, fresh in the feels, rolling around in pain and the Usual foxhole feels... and then you happened.
i cant remember exactly who sent the first ask but im going to take a wild guess and say i think i messaged you first and then after just a few messages of yelling/incoherent ramblings... i asked if i could call you
after... what, not even 24hrs? ... or even 12 hrs 😂maybe 6?? ...or less. it was less i think? eh, who knows
point is... i was pretty much screwed from then on.
every yell, every feeling, every headcanon, every cry i would give you.. you’d give me back twice over and then we just kept going.... and going... and going
to the point i didnt want to go into my new class with new people cause i didnt know them, and then you saying to me emily.... WE didnt know each other till today and me being like (even back then) yeah... but like... you’re different
and hit me with a crowbar, boy fucking were you.
here we are, over a year later (anniversary gays and all) and i honest to god cant imagine my life without you in it
You're my back bone, you're me cornerstone You're my crutch when my legs stop moving You're my headstart, you're my rugged heart You're the pokes that I've always needed Like a drum baby don't stop beating Like a drum baby don't stop beating Like a drum baby don't stop beating Like a drum my heart never stops beating
and i know people say that a lot and throw it around... but seriously. not to get Extra™ on you (cause when am i ever) but... if we ever stopped talking or something happened and you weren’t in my life? straight up? i wouldnt feel complete.

CHAPTER 16: The First
When Amethyst woke up, it was still dark.
She was still with Pearl, and she remembered what had happened in perfect clarity.
Shit.
She'd actually slept with her. Had kissed her and touched her and -
She couldn't stay. Couldn't face Pearl after this.
She got up as quietly as she could. Pearl was still asleep.
She looked so beautiful. Amethyst sighed. Covered her with the blanket and brushed her hair out of her face.
She didn't regret it. She didn't. But now that she was sober, her anxieties were no longer held at bay.
So she grabbed her clothes and shoes and left without even saying goodbye.
youtube
A few hours later, Pearl awoke. It was odd, as if something had been torn from her arms. She felt her face, her neck had a dull ache.
Oh, yes, Amethyst had been around.
Her behind reminded her of another dull ache. Oh.
Amethyst.
She held her head in her hands before realising she'd slept with the plug still in. Ouch. She frowned. She needed to talk to her, and made a mental note to text her after meeting with Ruby and Sapphire. She'd planned on possibly asking to sleep over the weekend.
Carefully, she picked herself up and began to get ready.
A few miles away, Ruby and Sapphire were entertaining another guest.
"Are you sure you want to stay when Pearl comes over, Kai?" Sapphire asked.
Kai nodded. "Yeah, man, she sounds cool," he said. "I'd love to meet her. From what you've said, I'm sure there's a few things we can talk about."
"If you're sure," Sapphire said.
Ruby bounced at the doorbell. "Oh, that's probably her now. I'll go and let her in." They made their way to the door and opened it before bursting into giggles. "HOLY shit, did you fuck dracula? Guys - the baby queer got laid."
Pearl was not amused. "I've had my hand down Sapphire's shirt at dance comp after parties."
It worked it shutting Ruby up.
Sapphire rolled her eyes. "It was one time, Pearl," she said. "So who's the lucky person?" She threw Pearl a meaningful look.
If it was Rose, today might get... interesting.
"This is Kai," she then introduced their other guest.
"Hi. Pearl, I assume?" Kai gave a small, slightly awkward wave. "I, ah. Used to go to your school."
"It's not what you think it is." Pearl sighed as she took off her shoes. "Got high with a friend." She then faced Kai. "You're okay with me talking about drugs, right?"
Kai shrugged. "I don't really mind. Don't do them myself but you do you."
Sapphire raised an eyebrow. "A friend, huh? Not your... gal pal, then?"
"No. It wasn't her. I don't think I'm ever getting laid in that direction." Another sigh. She then looked at Kai with a raised brow, frowning at him. "...You went to an all girls school?"
"Yup. Nobody knew I was a boy until sixth form. It's not that unusual, right?" He gave a half-smile. "I mean, I know for a fact I wasn't the first trans guy to come out at our school."
Lars. Pearl swallowed a thick heaping of guilt. "Yes, I suppose so. One of the students in my year tried to come out recently. I don't think he's had much progress with the register. Diamond seems to have her foot down on accepting birth certificates only."
"Oh, good ol' Diamond," Kai said. "Still no better in that department, I see."
"Do you want tea?" Sapphire chimed in. "You can go through to the living room, if you want."
"Oh, please. Green tea, if you have it!" She followed Ruby's way in. Ruby, still, it seemed, wasn't done with poking fun at the newcomer. "So, your year, huh? She sure did a number on your neck." "She was a virgin and probably didn't know it would show up." Pearl furrowed her brows. "I tried coating it in foundation but it's not working."
"Cute," Kai said, grinning at Pearl. He followed Sapphire as she went into the kitchen to make tea for everyone.
"You want food as well?" Sapphire called into the living room. "We got, uh. Frozen pizzas."
"Only if everyone else is gonna snack as well," Pearl replied, settling down on the sofa. "This place is so nice!"
Ruby rushed to Sapphire. "Gimme the pepperoni with the jalapeño."
"Of course." Sapphire threw her partner an adoring look. "Kai?"
"Something vegetarian," he said. "I'm not that hungry, I could share one with Pearl."
Half a pizza would ease her guilt. Pearl shot him a grateful look. "I wouldn't mind that. You guys got drinks, or should I go and buy some later?"
"Alcoholic or not?" Sapphire asked, opening a cupboard to reveal a large variety of drinks of either sort. "You're in a student home, Pearl, we always have stuff around."
Kai sat down on the sofa next to Pearl.
"So, Pearl," he said, "I heard about your accident last year from these guys."
Pearl spied a six pack of dark berry cider. "Still recovering from yesterday, so I'm not going too heavy. Could I maybe have a Strongbow?" She then turned to Kai. "Oh God, don't tell me they told you all the embarrassing stuff."
Sapphire got Pearl the requested drink. "Pizzas will be a few minutes," she announced cheerfully and then returned to the kitchen, presumably to make out with Ruby where Pearl and Kai wouldn't see. (They tried their best not to be too gross in front of other people.)
Kai smiled at Pearl. "They mostly just mentioned you in passing. You wanted to be a professional dancer, right?"
"Yeah. Doing a major in Biology now. I think it's a lot better for me. Getting into less fights."
"Oh, yeah," Kai said. "Rose is very helpful, isn't she?"
Pearl swallowed, cheeks turning red. "Yes. We're very close."
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Close, huh?"
"Dating." It wouldn't cause any harm to let him know, right?
Kai's face fell. So it was true. "Oh dear. Let me guess, you're her favourite student, severe mental health issues that she's been helping with, meetings outside of classes, that kind of stuff?"
Pearl froze. "...Yes. How did you... Know?"
"Lucky guess." His voice was bitter.
"She's... she's my partner. I mean... she has another partner and I don't know how I feel about that but I can't change that, either."
Kai closed his eyes, breathed a sigh.
"You're not the first student she's done this with," he said, opening his eyes again and looking at Pearl. "You know that. Right?"
Pearl looked taken aback. "Principal Diamond mentioned it but... I don't believe it. She's not taking advantage of me."
Kai laughed bitterly.
"Sure she's not. Just like she wasn't taking advantage of me, couple of years ago."
"You... dated her?"
"If you can call it that," he said. "You wanna hear the whole story?"
Pearl took a sip. "... Yes."
"Alright."
He leaned back. "It started when I came out as trans, start of my final year. Rose hadn't really taken much of an interest in me before but suddenly she was all - protective of me. And kind of rightfully so, cus I had Principal Diamond all up my ass." He shrugged. "Nothing I can't handle, though. I knew what happened to Lars, I wouldn't have come out if I hadn't been sure I could handle it. But Rose... well. I had a crush on her. So her attention was really not unwelcome. I'll spare you the details, I mean, you're probably getting a very intimate play-by-play from Rose herself just now."
"I... thought Principal Diamond was lying." No. No, what she and Rose had was special. "How did things... end?"
"Diamond is many despicable things, but she's usually telling the truth when trying to drag people through the mud," Kai said. "She's far too careful to be spreading lies. But anyway - yeah. We weren't really dating until my graduation, but it was always clear that there was something there. I was crazy for her, and she did nothing but encourage that. A few kisses. Meetings. She made me feel like she was one of the only people I could rely on. And on graduation night, she took me home with her and..." His eyebrows raised, his gaze flickered to the love bite on Pearl's neck. "You can imagine what happened. And all was well, we were a couple, I was happier than ever. Until she lost interest in me."
A million different feelings tore Pearl into even more directions. She felt mad, angry that anyone would attack Rose. Angry at Rose. Angry at herself. Upset that... Rose had of course left all this out.
She was also burning with envy. Rose had slept with a student. And it wasn't even her.
"How... did she lose interest?"
"Gradually," he said. "Found a million excuses why she couldn't see me as regularly. She was busy or too tired or feeling ill or had other plans. It took about three months. Then she broke up with me."
He blinked. Swallowed. "She had another partner at the time, too. Lily, I think she was called, I met her a few times. Lovely girl. Rose used her as the reason for the breakup, said Lily wasn't comfortable with Rose dating me. But... but it always felt like the novelty had just worn off. She got bored with me and dropped me as soon as I wasn't interesting anymore."
Pearl was breathing hard. "I'm sorry, I think... Is there a place I can go outside I think I need some air." Her knuckles had turned white around the can.
"Uh, sure." Kai frowned. "Sorry, man, I just wanted you to know. She fucks people over. Don't want that to happen to anyone else. You want me to come with you?"
"I suppose. I just... this relationship has been my only true security for a while..." she said, walking out.
Kai sighed. "Sorry to break it to you, honey, but if your relationship with your teacher is your only security, you probably have bigger issues than her potentially leaving you. Don't you have other people? Family, friends? What about the girl who gave you that?" He gestured to the love bite on her neck.
"I barely have any of those things." Pearl hugged herself. "Amy and I are... complicated. I hate my sister and my best friend now lives with her and constantly takes her side."
"Huh." Kai frowned. "Well, it might be a good idea to work on those things. Just in case. I mean, I'm not saying that Rose will definitely do this to you as well, I mean, for all I know, you could be the love of her life. Or she could just be seeing you as a project. With an expiration date. Like me."
"She's done it before." The words sounded bitter. Cold.
"Oh? Do tell." Kai fumbled with his pockets, getting out a packet of cigarettes, offered them to Pearl silently.
"At least that's what the Principal said. I don't want to believe you. I don't want to believe any of this." Pearl took a cigarette almost instantly.
"It's the sad truth, sister." He took a cigarette for himself as well, lighting it up and then offering his lighter to Pearl as well.
She lit up, eyes glazed. "She just seems like... she's perfect. She's so kind and wonderful and supporting. Why would she... play me like this?"
"Who knows. I'm just the messenger, Pearl." Kai shrugged. "I used to think she was perfect too."
"Oh man. When she butts into your drama, though."
"She finds people that are vulnerable," Kai said. "I thought I'd be fine coming out, but then I wasn't, and she looked after me. You had your accident, and I don't know what else you got going on. You don't have to tell me. But she picked you for a reason, I'm sure of it."
Pearl flinched. "Is that it, then? I'm just a project?"
"Maybe." Kai ashed his cigarette. "I don't know. I'm just telling you how it went down with me. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first, either."
"No. It seems you probably weren't." Pearl swallowed as if she had a bitter pill. "I have an... eating disorder. She forced me to eat. She'd touch me a lot to keep me in line."
"Ah. Yeah, I had issues like that too." The parallels. "Positive reinforcement, huh? Did she tell you that she knew you had a crush on her?"
"From the second date. Even earlier, probably. I... I thought it... was special. That I was special."
Kai frowned. "That early? Wow, she must've really taken a shining to you. If she tried that hard to get you to this point. Have you kissed her?"
"A few times." Pearl sighed. "I'm phenomenally queer, though."
"So am I." Kai shrugged. "Well, she didn't kiss me more than... like, twice, before I graduated. It might be a sign that it's different with you. But I wouldn't count on it."
"I'm... I don't know what to think. I trusted her. She knew I trusted her."
"Are you gonna tell her you met me?"
"Would you be opposed?"
"No." Kai had one last drag, then stubbed out his cigarette. "Honestly, I'd be more than happy to know she's getting what's coming for her. She can't just keep doing this."
"It's... cruel. To take people who are vulnerable."
"I mean, I don't even know if she ever had any genuine feelings for me," Kai said with a sigh. "Shall we go back inside? The pizza might be ready soon. If you're gonna be okay eating."
"Yeah. I'll... probably switch to harder liquor after all. I eat more when I'm under the influence."
"That's reasonable," Kai said. He held the door open for her.
She nodded her thanks and shakily found her way in, wordlessly sitting back on the sofa, before downing the entire cider.
Kai left her, and instead went into the kitchen. He helped himself to some of Ruby and Sapphire's alcohol.
"How's the pizza coming?" he asked.
"Just about ready," Sapphire said. "You talked to Pearl about Rose, didn't you?"
He just nodded.
"Oh man, I guess it had to be done. If anything, I'm pretty sure you're the right guy to do it." Ruby added, pouring themselves a shot of fireball whiskey. They then turned to Sapphire. "You want any drinks, darling?"
"You know what I like," Sapphire said, blowing them a kiss.
"You guys are disgusting," Kai said. "I'll be in the living room. Unless you need help with the pizzas?"
"No, we'll be okay," Sapphire said.
Ruby nodded, pouring a splash of gin from a blue bottle. "Bombay sapphire gin and tonic, on the rocks. Just for my Laffy-Saffy." They then looked to the living room. "This might be trouble, yanno."
"Of course," Sapphire said. "It's not like I didn't see it coming."
"She'll be okay," Kai said, not missing their exchange. "She just needs some time to think about things."
"We still wanna keep Quartz on our side, though. If she's pissed with us, we're never gonna get to hit the Diamond."
"Is there something going on with Diamond, too?" Kai asked, frowning. "This is the first I've heard of it."
"She has it out for Quartz at the moment," Sapphire explained. "Mostly because she suspects both of them. Quartz is trying to find people to form a group... to fight back."
Ruby punched their hand. "We're gonna finally get something back after all those years of shit. She needs to go down."
"Best of luck with that," Kai said. "I hope you'll forgive me for not getting involved. I want nothing more to do with that school. Aside from warning Pearl about Rose."
"Trust me, we share the sentiment," Sapphire said. "But this is bigger than us. ... Pizza's ready!"
"AYYY!" Ruby took another shot and groaned. "You know... Whisky before pizza is going to be an experience. Do you guys wanna play a drinking game? Maybe get Pearl to forget about Quartz for now."
"Sounds like a plan," Sapphire said. "Kai?"
"I might head off soon," Kai said. "I don't really want to get that drunk - and it might be difficult to distract Pearl with me around."
Ruby nodded. "That's fair, man. We'll see you around uni. You coming to the game this week?"
"Yeah I am! Gonna see you there." He stepped into the living room to say goodbye to Pearl.
Pearl was down to her second can of cider. "Hey, again."
"Hey!" Kai shuffled, a little awkward. "I, uh. I'm gonna leave in a bit, so just wanted to say bye."
She nodded. "Alright. It was... nice to meet you. Thanks."
"Anytime, hun," Kai said. "Sapphire has my number, so if you ever wanna talk, you can just text or call. Even if it's just to be salty about Rose."
"I might... need that. I'll see you around, I guess."
"Well, I'm always here for that," Kai said amicably. "See you!"
Sapphire squeezed past him with the pizzas. "You could at least stay for this, since you basically ordered it," she said in mock-outrage.
Pearl chuckled. "I can't eat an entire one on my own."
"I can!" Ruby pumped their fist.
"Everyone knows that, my darling," Sapphire said and kissed Ruby's cheek.
"Alright then," Kai said with a smile. "I'll stay for a little bit longer. But I'm not participating in your drinking game." He took the pizza from Sapphire and started cutting it in half.
"What sort of drinking game?" Pearl asked, blinking.
"We can watch bad films and take a shot every time we cringe."
"What sort of films do you have in mind?" Sapphire asked. She had an idea (it was Ruby, after all, who had suggested this), but Pearl and Kai likely didn't.
"Oh, cringy youtube videos. Lesbian porn for hetero guys is my favourite. Everyone looks related and they all have long ass fingernails."
"What do you think, Pearl?" Sapphire asked their guest. "Kai, I assume you won't be staying for this."
Kai shrugged. "It'd be fun, but I really should be heading off before yain't sober enough to recognise my face anymore."
Pearl bit into the pizza. "I don't usually watch porn with my friends."
"That's because you were a kid!" Ruby sighed. "Live a little."
"Seriously, Pearl, almost nothing about this is actually sexually appealing once you realise it's literally for cishet men," Sapphire said. "Just look at their nails. Instant turn-off, if you ask me."
Kai finished his third slice of pizza. "I'll stay for the first round. No alcohol for me, though."
"Alright." Pearl seemed tentative as she finished her portion of the pie. "I'm game."
"Alright. I'll get Ruby's laptop," Sapphire said and got up.
"Delete my browser history, babe!" Ruby called as she went.
"Will do!"
Sapphire found the laptop easily and did as Ruby had asked her, then brought it back through and handed it to Ruby.
"Would you like to do the honours?" she asked, winking at them.
Ruby nodded and hopped onto an obscene site.
"Holy shit." Pearl whispered. "Is that... Ms. Lazuli?"
"Oh, yeah, that young teacher that came to the school like two or three years back? We've seen her in more than one of these. Don't spread it round at school, though," Sapphire said. "God knows what she did before she was a teacher, and everyone's got to make money somehow."
"Oh, definetly... not. But..." Pearl swallowed. "I think she's dating the coach. Do you think... they uploaded anything together?"
"Why, would you be interested?" Sapphire threw her a smirk.
"I liked her, too."
"Is there anyone you don't have a crush on?" Sapphire said with a grin. "Pearl, the great ladykiller. Who would've thought."
"You're implying that any of my crushes reciprocate my feelings. Turns out... Well. I've got Amy, I guess."
"I'm sure she's not the only one," Sapphire said, her voice soothing.
Kai cleared his throat. "Yeah... I should probably go."
"Oh, she is." Pearl took the last swig of her can of cider, bitterly. "Oh, okay, see you later!"
Sapphire looked at Pearl, sympathetic. "More alcohol?" she offered, pointing to a selection of hard drinks they'd brought from the kitchen.
Kai waved goodbye to everyone and then left.
Pearl managed to make her way and bring over the whisky and a bottle of coke.
Ruby spied over their shoulder. "A mixer? Weak."
"Says the person that up chucks every time we go for drinks." Pearl rolled her eyes. "You guys found anything good?"
"Lazuli is actually gay, so she's too good for us already. I can send you her profile for personal watching, though. But... Here. 'Naughty lesbian threesome...with...mom.'"
"Alright," Sapphire said, "take a shot every time they do something a lesbian would never do. Two if they're scissoring. You ready?" She got her drink.
"Alright." Pearl finished filling the glass.
"Oh! None of those nails are remotely going to feel good. Yikes, mom. Why are they all wearing so much makeup before going to sleep?"
"We can all take a shot for they're all skinny white girls," Sapphire said. "I agree on the nails. Also, three people in a bed that small? They're going to regret that."
Pearl giggled. "Why do they all have the same... everything? Hair, makeup... it's weird."
"It's secretly also an incest kink site," Sapphire said, her face completely unmoved. "We figured it out ages ago."
Pearl coughed out whisky. "Yikes!"
"She's kidding. But let's be real. Would you be that surprised?"
"I would say I foresaw it," Sapphire said, now grinning. "Don't choke on your alcohol, Pearl, neither of us know CPR."
She went back to watching the video, where the girls had reached the making out and undressing each other stage. "I bet it took them forty takes to film this. Nobody can unhook a bra that quickly."
"How are they not smearing any lipstick?"
Ruby screamed. "Why is she making out with her MOM?"
"Told you it was an incest site," Sapphire said.
And narrowed her eyes a second later. "Oh - oh, here we go. Going right in. With those nails. And the other girl likes it." She shuddered.
Pearl whispered. "That doesn't belong in a butt. I know what does. That's not... No. Oh my god."
"That looks rather painful," Sapphire said, frowning. "Maybe that's why she's screaming."
"Oh man, I think I know where this is going." Ruby rubbed their hands eagerly. "So, they teach these girls to anal prolapse on command-"
"Turn it OFF!" Pearl screeched.
Sapphire obliged immediately. "Really, Ruby, I don't think Pearl wants to hear about anal prolapse."
Pearl calmed down. "I'm only kidding. I'm kind of interested to see where this goes."
Ruby turned the video on again. Almost instantly, the girl on screen had an anal prolapse.
"I TOLD YOU! WHO'S GOT FUTURE VISION NOW, HUH?"
"Keep your voice down," Sapphire said, grimacing. "This is grim. Do you want to watch something else?"
"Should we... perhaps see something more tame?" Pearl clocked into the discomfort.
"Fart fetish videos?"
"No, Ruby. God. Keep your weird kinks to yourself. Something like a movie."
"I can do that," Sapphire said, exited the porn site and went on Netflix. "So would you like... a bad lesbian movie, a mediocre lesbian movie, or Imagine Me & You?"
"Bad!" Ruby and Pearl both called out.
Sapphire brought up the Gay and Lesbian section on Netflix.
"So what's your fancy?" she asked. "We have a selection of... sad lesbians... more sad lesbians... sad lesbians with weird camera angles... sad lesbians in the wild west... sad German lesbians..."
Pearl tilted her head. "Why are they all so sad?"
"Because lesbians can't have happy endings. Didn't you know that?"
Pearl swallowed. "Huh?"
"Imagine Me & You is just about the only one where they actually get together and are happy in the end," Sapphire explained. "Otherwise it's either they get separated, or can't be together for stupid reasons, or one of them dies, or both of them die, or any combination of the above."
Her mouse hovered over Loving Annabelle, but she hesiated.
Pearl sighed before looking up. "What's that one?"
Sapphire hesitated. "It's... overrated," she said. "It's a student-teacher story."
"Oooh, one for Pearl then?" Ruby punched Pearl's arm.
Pearl looked away. "I don't mind."
"Do you really want to do that to yourself?" Sapphire asked, completely serious this time.
"If it's good, I honestly don't care. Haven't seen many lesbian films. Might be nice to be represented for once."
"It's not... that good," Sapphire said, cautiously. "I mean, it's okay. We can probably still make it a drinking game."
"Make it good, darling. I wanna get hammered before I'm out tonight." Ruby beamed.
Sapphire looked up and frowned. "I didn't know you were going out."
"Oh man, shit! I totally forgot to tell you. You know how the Spanish squad found out I could understand them chatting shit? They've kind of adopted me in and XL is throwing a party." Ruby then turned to Pearl. "Her name is Ellie but she's got literally boulders for knockers."
"Oh, that's fine then. They're okay. Just make sure you're safe. You know you can call me at any point if you need me to pick you up somewhere, right?" Sapphire cast Ruby a smile. "But anyway, back to this. Shall we?"
"What's the drinking game?" Pearl asked, taking a sip. The world had began to spin a little.
Sapphire thought. "Take a shot every time Annabelle mentions she's gay or has slept with girls. Anytime she's rude to someone and anytime she tries to seduce Miss Whatserface, I forgot her name. Haven't seen this movie in ages. But that should do it, really. Oh, wait. Take a shot anytime someone suspects there's something going on."
"Oh no." Pearl looked at the screen. "Looks like this is going to be a play by play of my literal life."
"It's not that bad," Sapphire said and started the movie, sitting back.

hey guera, your art is honestly one of my biggest inspirations and i was wondering how you draw translate irl people into a more cartoony style? like what aspects of a real persons face do you know to convert to a more cartoonish style? im really struggling with this and have found absolutely no advice on it... im worried ill never manage to get it right
Ahh!! Thank you so much anon ;o; you are so sweet and kind that i have decided to make a quick little tutorial for you! Its basically just how I personally go about stylizing people when turning them into characters! Hopefully this can help you out a bit c: This tutorial can apply to more stylized work as well as more realistic styles! It all depends on how much or how little you exaggerate your shapes!
I’ll put it under the cut for you since it got kinda long lol
All right! So first off lets talk about our three basic design shapes:
These shapes are super important when it comes to character design and when choosing which features you want to exaggerate and how. These shapes can determine the kind of personality your character has or if you already know what kind of character you want, you can use these shapes to your advantage to make them give off a certain vibe! The more round and circular your character is the kinder and sweeter they will seem, if you use more angles and triangles you can even make them seem evil depending on how you design them! So its always good to know the personality of the person your drawing so you can really push their features to suggest certain things about them!
Now keeping these shapes in mind, lets try making a character out of my good goth pal James here!
James would be great to turn into a little character! He has super interesting features and shapes, and an interesting personality to match! He tends to give off a really intimidating vibe but once you get to know him you can see how sweet and gentle he is. So for his character I think triangles and circles would suit him best!
Of course his face wont perfectly fit our shapes, but we can push his features to make them more exaggerated.
Here I’ve done a small sketch so we can place his features on top. Im using mostly sharp angles and circles for his face, and just exaggerating them slightly. For this one I’m going to keep it a bit more semi-realistic, then show you how you can really simplify the shapes even further.
First lets start with his eyes! They have a super cool shape to them, and if you look closely you can see that they’re mostly just half circles and sharp angles! Perfect for his personality! Feel free to exaggerate the parts you find the most interesting, I personally really like his under eye lashes and thick eyeliner so thats what I tried to push the most.
If you look at his nose you can see thats really just a long triangle with a little circle at the bottom! I pushed the roundness of the tip just a bit more for fun!
I know his mouth is a bit more softer in shapes, but I decided to push the sharp lines I saw instead to balance the rounded shape of his nose. Also I think it might fit his character a bit better.
Eyebrows are actually one of my absolute favorite things to design! They’re super fun to draw and I personally like to design them so you can tell a whole persons character just from them lol! And if you use your three basic shapes its quite easier than it sounds. Eyebrows are one of the most expressive features of the face, so its no wonder that they could also give off a certain personality trait if we play our cards right!
Now our character is really starting to come along! Hair is another great trait that can suggest a lot about who we’re drawing. For example, haven’t you noticed all moms sort of have the same hairstyle? Or that a man with a buzz cut may carry himself a certain way? Of course these are just stereotypes but hair can have a lot of personality on their own, and you can even try and break these stereotypes with the way you go about designing it!
And here we have it! A cool little goth dude based off of my pal James! He seems pretty chill but with a little edgy undertone thanks to the shapes I used! Now we can try and push these shapes even further, and make them even simpler for a more cartoony look!
Here I used out circle and triangle but pushed them even further than before. I tried to pick two main features to exaggerate the most, I chose his head shape and his eyes in this case! But it can be any feature based on your own aesthetics and what you find more interesting! Now his head is almost a perfect triangle with how far I’ve pushed it. You can go as abstract and as simple as you want! I really pushed the ones to the right the most, but look how simple I’ve made them, but because i picked certain features to push they still have some of James in em!
Here’s some more examples I did! This time using some random photos from the internet! Since I don’t really know these peoples personalities, I have the nice freedom of being able to really push their shapes to create different characters all from the same person!
Here I really loved her hair and mouth shapes, so those were the two things I tried to focus on. If you look to the right you can see my applying our shape principle by making one character with mostly round shapes and the other with squares and angles. Now it looks like we have sisters lol! The sweet and cheerful younger sibling who always looks up to her stern but cooler older sister! And if we wanted I bet we could even turn her into a more fast paced and dynamic character based on triangles!
This gal here has great eyebrows, eyes, and hair shape! And once I designed i character of her I like I can start to make that character express and act! Or we can start looking into different art styles and push those features to some nice extremes! Remember how you design and which shapes you use are all up to you! You can use the shapes you see or use specific shapes for a specific character type!
And if your’e more interested in caricature and which features to push on a person, I really recommend watching this great video series by Proko on caricature!
I really hope this helps ya dear! c: If you ever have any more questions you can always message me! I’d be happy to help and maybe I could livestream some of this for ya’ll!
Happy doodling! xoxo
