I don't have the energy to pretend anymore. I'm far from perfect. Some days I'm pretty put together, and other days I'm a total mess. But I never apologize for either. I am who I am always. The good, the bad, the ugly. I show up as me. If you are pretending to be anything other than you, you are doing yourself, and the world a huge disservice. Risk being seen for who you really are, even in your messy moments. For you never know who may need to witness your struggle in order to accept their own. So let your freak flag fly. Update on my mental health: • Not gonna lie, it’s been a rocky few weeks. For every step I take, I fall back a few more. It’s difficult for me to stay motivated. The OCD has been difficult, but the depression has been my downfall lately. • I talked to my therapist about this and he said that it’s totally normal to have these highs and lows, and since I have a history of depression, my lows will be more than just “down in the dumps.” It was great to hear that what I’m going through could be classified as “normal”, but it doesn’t make living with it any easier. I can’t even tell you what I’ve been doing with my spare time this week since my classes are officially over. • The TV is my biggest time waster. I know it’s because it allows me to focus on something other than what I’m stressed about, but it sucks all the motivation out of me. It keeps me up hours after I watch it as well. After realizing this, I made a rule. No TV until 5 P.M. and only a few episodes. • My depression eases a bit when I am productive. It definitely doesn’t take it away, but it makes me feel better about myself. So that’s my goal for these next few days!
