"The Morning After"

At our old house, my every-morning spring-summer-fall ritual included a visit to the pool and clearing out any debris that might be left floating on the surface of the aqua waters and most especially in the filters. At certain times of the season, the ritual included scooping out tiny little froggies ... we called them peepers. It's my belief that our pool was the sight of many uproarious midnight parties ... I know there was much music emanating from down there ... and judging from the bleary eyes of my darling peeper friends (and the occasional snake and ... other critters!) ... dancing and flirting and general hoopla was carried on with great intensity.

On this particular morning, one of the maple trees nearby had made the decision to expel its whirligig-helicopter seeds. Thus, dear Froggie was covered in leaf and seeds bits when I rescued him from the filter. He did look pretty disgusted with life in general ... but after a good cleaning off and being sent on his way ... I'm sure he had a fine day out in the woods. And was probably among the number of his fellows who got scooped out of the pool the next morning, as well!!

what if, bruce's postcard didn't survive unscathed, and they had to go off of john dory's foggy memory of the thing.

so like. they're stumbling their way through a bunch of could-be-heres before they hit on the correct one.

and what if, the Vacay Resort section was legit hard to find.

like, the entire island chain is still at Vacaytioner scale, right? so even if the search party's idea to eventually look there was right, it could still take a long time to navigate thru the tropical jungle on any individual island, let alone many of them.
