Yeah I called that, Beck moving right in as a love interest... some kinda interesting subtext here about the nature of the suit, and then almost instantly we see it has a mind of its own as it grabs Beck while the two are making out.

What do you think about Beck Underwood?I think she deserves more than just been a brief girlfriend for Eddie,I imagine her been the only true friend Eddie ever had,I honestly wanna see them together again or even meeting Peter
Oh, Beck was lovely! I'm a huge enthusiast of assertive ladies who know what they want and what they're doing. Not to mention all the good she was doing for the homeless community!
I think you're right, she was way more of a friend than a girlfriend (...could she actually count as a girlfriend...? love interst - yes, but I always got a feeling that their relationship wasn't really that of a couple). She really saw the best in Eddie, although- not all of it was warranted... Still, it was pretty unusual to have a character who would look beyond all the teeth and living plasma to see that our boys(?) were more than just a villain, and she was a well-needed voice of reason and somebody with a goal and good head on her shoulders, which Venom lacked on their own. It would be nice though if either the stories she appeared in expanded on her positive influence on Venom, pushing for more character growth or is she realized how they were still acting behnd her back... the fact we never got that still makes me sad! Not to mention, I wish she also got more developement of her own... Don't get me wrong, she was a great lady, but I just wish we get to know her more! But nope, she disappeared with the end of Lethal Protector era...
Anyway, it would be great to meet her again in some good story. Oh, considering her help for the homeless community she could maybe at some point work together with Aunt May and the Feast! Wouldn't that be lovely?

eddie brock and 14 + 24 :)
Oh thank goodness! I got an ask for this questionnaire that wasn't for Flash Thompson! (No, really - I got 4 for Flash.) Ahem, anyways. Thanks for keeping my Tumblr enclosure interesting. 🎉
14. Best storyline they had Uhhhh gosh, this is a hard one! I really, really love the San Francisco era. It has everything: a team-up with Punisher, a fight/team-up with Daredevil, Beck Underwood, Eddie helping a child, goofy 90s comics bullshit that doesn't make any sense, Beck Underwood, a MOST delightful team-up with Spider-Man, and did I mention Beck Underwood? Because she's also there.
It was also the era where Venom really found their identity as an anti-hero. There was just SO much growth during that time and it seemed like Venom became very comfortable with who they were, you know? It also fed into the less-stable-but-still-very-entertaining post-SF era which included Separation Anxiety and Planet of the Symbiotes. I kinda lump those two together, but yeah - that's peak right there.
(Venom: Lethal Protector #6; Michelinie, Lim - Venom: Funeral Pyre #1; Potts, Lyle - Venom: The Mace #2; Potts, Sharp)
24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone? Oooo a curious one. Hmm. This is hyper-specific and I'm not sure if it really answers the question, but I don't think Eddie ever told Anne about his cancer diagnosis. "But the cancer was retcon-" STOP this is my blog and I think it should stay canon. But it also seems like just the kind of really serious thing that Eddie would literally just not be able to deal with. If his career was already falling apart and his marriage was going down the tank and his relationship with his father was going kaput too... maybe he just... never told Anne.
(Spectacular Spider-Man #5; Jenkins, Ramos)
Thinking about it in retrospect too hard is almost too sad for me but I know how hard it is to share a really concerning diagnosis with a loved one. Especially when they might be going through a lot themselves, you don't want to seem like a burden. And someone as prideful as Eddie? Especially when he's been told his diagnosis is essentially a death sentence? (Which, given my own research on that particular kind of cancer, I think is bullshit but - whatever...) I can see him making the massive mistake of not telling his own wife.
The man's got issues.

This is a continuation of my previous post. Most likely it will be short (no, it's not), so let's talk not only about Eddie, but also about the fans.
I apologize for my mistakes, I use Google translator because I don't know English well.
This is Part 2.
The first thing I want to write about is that Symbrock are not gay.
I wrote about the orientation and gender of the symbiote earlier (+ I’ll add a little), but I repeat that he is literally an agender, asexual (no biological sex), asexually reproducing alien. Yes, the symbiote can feel arousal, but only its host, its own most likely only as a psychological/emotional need. Yes, the symbiote takes on the gender of the host. And yes, it can be addressed as he/him, but that’s only because most of its hosts were men, there were also the pronouns we, they (used mainly when he was together with the host, but also spoke about himself) and this. The pronoun he is used mainly to humanize the symbiote; he is not a thing to call him “it”, but it's still appropriate because he's an alien. Moreover, I wouldn’t say that he cares at all about pronouns, gender, sexuality and other human bullshit.
And now about Eddie. He's not gay. He had an ex-wife whom he loved and with whom he fathered a child, Dylan. At least that makes him not gay. He is (was or is) in love with an alien symbiote that has no gender. In the comics, he also fell in love with women more than once, such as Beck Underwood or Liz Allan. If we draw a conclusion from all this: firstly, he is not 100% hetero because of the symbiote; secondly, he is not gay because he was not in love with men; thirdly, he is not bisexual for the same reason; fourthly, we will never know his orientation until the creators of the Venom comics talk about it, the only thing we know is that he fell in love with women and the symbiote. The maximum that I can do now is to throw out my headcanons and speculations based on the comics I have read.
I believe that Eddie is still hetero (not 100%, and maybe he's bi, I'm not sure), but with xenophilia, exophilia, paraphilia and autassassinophilia tendencies (Hi, Marvel Comics Presents #5). Perhaps he has demisexual and/or demiromantic tendencies, I think so mainly because of Venom: The Hunger, here is an example of the phrases “We share everything. Thoughts. Feelings. A purpose. It's not human, but it's given me things no girlfriend ever could. I used to live for words. But the Other's shown me how small and useless they really are. We talk to each other with moods and pictures, memories and heartbeats. Some things are the same in any language. Like the one thing I thought I’d never hear.” Demi needs to feel a strong emotional connection, trust and intimacy to fall in love and/or be sexually attracted. That's it.
Let's discuss symbrock and fans:
Symbrock is literally non-binary couple (alien + human).
I like it when people call them gay as a joke because it's funny. You are also entitled to headcanons just like any other fan. But please don't present your headcanons as reality, because that's just disrespectful to the canon and the authors.
BUT, even despite what I described earlier, they can be called gay. And this is not a contradiction.
Not only do gays refer to men who have sex with each other and who love men, gay also refers to LGBTQ+ people in a general sense, as a generalization. So yes, calling them gay is appropriate depending on the meaning you intend, it’s your choice. Personally, I prefer to call them specifically non-binary couple, so that there is no confusion with the designation of the word gay.
I love symbrock fans, I really do, because I'm a fan of the pair myself. But I really have questions when I see contradictions with the canon. I understand that people have their own headcanons and that's okay, I have them too, but I can't understand why you need to be considered canon.
Moreover, I am annoyed not only by fans who present headcanons as cacoons without understanding the history and real facts, I am also annoyed by “fans” who deny that symbrock is an official couple. Guys, get over it, you can’t change the canon. Venom has been gay since the 90s, just deal with it.

The Master List (hi)
Master List:
Hi, i’m ace. I got really bored and i need an excuse to procrastinate on my personal writing projects so i decided to start an account dedicated to just writing. So like, you can request almost anything (limits below) like if you want like a platonic fic just ask! If you want the reader to be the kid or sibling of the character, i’ll do it! You can be as specific or as vague as you want, eventually i’ll get some prompts for help but for now, you gotta wing it. Also I’ll write for like any fandom even if i dont know it, i’ll try my hardest but i’d prefer if you stuck to the list below. Anyways yeah. (also pfp is nyurei on picrew)
So basic rules,
If youre an nsfw account dni, also i will not write smut regardless of age given i’m a minor
No incest
I’m currently only doing x readers, that might change in the future but for now no ocs or ships
I’d prefer if you didn’t request x reader with an actual person, (ex. Instead of asking for a Maya Hawke x reader, ask for a Robin Buckley x reader)
If you know a character’s sexuality and you dont fit, dont ask (ex. Nico is gay, I will not write Nico x fem! reader)
Please specify pronouns when requesting
Please keep in mind i’m not a professional writer
Please use common sense and dont do something that makes me have to update the rules
Anyways, so fandoms i’ll write for
It 2017/2019: Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, Stanley Uris, Bill Denbrough, Beverly Marsh, Ben Hanscom, Mike Hanlon (specify if you want 2017 or 2019)

I love Social Cues by cage the elephant! I know it’s one of their more recently popular songs but I really feel like it didn’t get the love it deserves.
Would you care to elaborate on your country music stance? Where I’m from is like 80% country music so personally I’m pretty tired of it but can’t admit there are lots of great country songs - 🐈⬛
I love Cage The Elephant so much and Social Cues is a fantastic song that doesn't get the love it deserves. Have you gotten to see them live? They are fantastic. I've seen them a few times and one of those was actually their tour with Beck for the Night Running album which is what Social Cues came out on.
And I personally love country! I was very fortunate to grow up with a family that played a lot of different genres, everything from country to punk to metal to you name it. (There is also a lot of musicians in my family and one of them is a locally very well-known country musician.) I like country a lot, so it always sucks to see people hate on it. Especially because I know a lot of people only think of the whole "I love God, guns, and hunting" or stadium country when they think of country, but country is so much more and it can be so fun.
I always like shouting out country songs that I think people will listen to and go, "oh! Country can actually be a genre I like."
And some people don't even realize they like country. Dolly Parton? Country. Sweet Caroline? Country. Country Roads Take Me Home? Country. The Devil Went Down To Georgia? Country.
Here are some of my personal favorites when it comes to country that other people might like too.
Bad Moon Rising // Creedence Clearwater Revival
I see a bad moon rising, I see trouble on the way. I see earthquakes and lightning, I see bad times today. Don't go round tonight, well, it's bound to take your life. There's a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes a-blowing, I know the end is coming soon. I feel rivers overflowing, I hear the voice of rage and ruin. Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. One eye is taken for an eye.
If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away // Justin Moore
(if you want to see me ugly cry, play this song)
If Heaven wasn't so far away, I'd pack up the kids and go for the day. Introduce them to their grandpa, watch 'em laugh at the way he talks.
I'd find my long lost cousin John, the one we left back in Vietnam. Show him a picture of his daughter now, she's a doctor and he'd be proud.
Then tell him we'd be back in a couple of days. In the rearview mirror, we'd all watch 'em wave. And losing them wouldn't be so hard to take if Heaven wasn't so far away.
I'd hug all three of those girls we lost from the class of '99. I'd find my bird dog Bo and take him hunting one more time. I'd ask Hank why he took those pills back in '53.
And Janis to sing the second verse of "Me and Bobby McGee." Sit on a cloud and visit for a while, it'd do me good just to see them smile.
Blown Away // Carrie Underwood
Daddy was a mean old mister, mama was an angel in the ground. The weatherman called for a twister, she prayed to blown it down. There's not enough rain in Oklahoma to wash the sins out of that house.
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma to rip the nails out of the past. Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away, every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away.
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday. Every tear-soaked, whiskey memory blown away. She locked herself in the cellar, listening to the screaming of the wind. Some people call it taking shelter, she called it sweet revenge.
Whiskey Lullaby // Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss
(Another crying song)
She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette, she broke his heart. He spent his whole life trying to forget. We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time.
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind until the night...He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger, and finally drank away her memory.
Life is short, but this time, it was bigger than the strength he had to get up off his knees. We found him with his face down in the pillow with a note that said, "I'll love her 'til I die."
And when we buried him beneath the willow, the angels sang a whiskey lullaby.
Red Dirt Road // Brooks & Dunn
I was raised off of Rural Route 3 out past where the blacktop ends. We'd walk to church on Sunday morning and race barefoot back to Johnson's fence.
That's where I first saw Mary on that roadside, picking blackberries. That summer, I turned a corner in my soul down that red dirt road. It's where I drank my first beer.
It's where I found Jesus, where I wrecked my first car, I tore it all to pieces. I learned the path to Heaven is full of sinners and believer, learned that happiness on Earth ain't just for high achievers.
Online // Brad Paisley
I work down at the Pizza Pit and I drive an old Hyundai. I'm a sci-fi fanatic, a mild asthmatic, never been to second base. But there's a whole other me that you need to see.
Go check out MySpace. 'Cause online, I'm out in Hollywood. I'm 6'5 and I look damn good. I drive a Maserati, I'm a black belt in karate, and I love a good glass of wine.
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious, I tell them that I don't want nothing serious. I'm so much cooler online. In real life, the only time I've ever even been to LA is when I got the chance with the marching band to play tuba in the Rose Parade.
But online, I live in Malibu. I pose for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ. I'm single and I'm rich, and I got a set of six pack abs that'd blow your mind. I'm so much cooler online.
Friends In Low Places // Garth Brooks
Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots and ruined your black tie affair. The last one to know, the last one to show, I was the last one you thought you'd see there.
And I saw the surprise and the fear in his eyes when I took his glass of champagne. I toasted you and said, "honey, we may be through, but you'll never hear me complain."
'Cause I got friends in low places where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away. And I'll be okay. And I'm not big on social graces, think I'll slip on down to the oasis.
I didn't mean to cause a big scene, just give me an hour and then. I'll be as high as that ivory tower that you're living in.
Cover Of The Rolling Stone // Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show
(This one is very special to me because it's my dad's favorite band)
Well, we're big rock singers. We got golden fingers and we're loved everywhere we go. We sing about beauty and we sing about truth at ten thousand dollars a show.
We take all kinds of pills to give us all kinds of thrills, but the thrill we've never known is the thrill that'll get you when you get your picture on the cover of The Rolling Stone.
Wanna see my picture on the cover, wanna buy five copies for my mother. Wanna see my smiling face on the cover of The Rolling Stone. I got a freaky old lady called Cocaine Kitty who embroiders on my jeans.
We got all the friends money can buy, so we never have to be alone. And we keep getting richer, but we can't get our picture on the cover of The Rolling Stone.
Goodbye Earl // The Chicks (TW for domestic abuse, but with a happy ending)
Mary-Anne and Wanda were the best of friends all through their high school days. Both members of the 4-H club, both active in the FFA. After graduation, Mary-Anne went out, looking for a bright new world. Wanda looked all around this town and all she found was Earl.
Well, it wasn't two weeks after she got married that Wanda started getting abused. Well, she finally got the nerve to file for divorce. She let the law take it from there.
But Earl walked right through that restraining order and put her in intensive care. Right away, Mary-Anne flew in from Atlanta on a red-eyed, midnight flight.
She held Wanda's hand and they worked out a plan, and it didn't take 'em long to decide that Earl had die. Goodbye, Earl. Those black-eyed peas, they tasted alright to me! Earl, you feeling weak? Why don't you lay down and sleep?
Nobody // Sylvia
Sitting in a restaurant, she walked by. I seem to recall that certain look in your eye. I said whose that, you said with a smile, "oh it's nobody, nobody."
Maybe that explains the last two weeks. You called me up, dead on your feet. Working late again, I ask "who with?" You said, "nobody, nobody."
Well, your nobody called today. She hung up when I asked her name, I wonder does she think she's being clever? You say nobody's after, the fact is what you say is true. But I can love you like nobody can, even better.
Dooley // The Dillards
Dooley was a good ole man, he lived below the mill. Dooley had two daughters and a forty gallon still. One gal watched the boiler, the other watched the spout, and mama corked the bottles when ole Dooley fetched 'em out.
Dooley was a trader when into town he'd come. Sugar by the bushel and molasses by the ton. I remember very well the day ole Dooley died, the women folk weren't sorry and the men stood 'round and cried.
Now, Dooley's on the mountain. He lies there all alone. They put a jug beside him and a barrel for the stone.
Wagon Wheel // Darius Rucker
Heading down south to the land of the pines, I'm thumbing my way out of North Carolina. Staring up the road and pray to God I see headlights. Made it down the coast in seventeen hours, picking me a bouqet of dogwood flowers.
And I'm a-hoping for Raleigh, I can see my baby tonight. So rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel. Rock me, mama, any way you feel. Hey, mama, rock me.
Rock me, mama, like the wind and the rain. Rock me, mama, like a southbound train. Hey, mama, rock me. Running from the cold up in New England, I was born to be a fiddler in an old-time string band. My baby plays the guitar, I pick the banjo now.
Remember When // Alan Jackson
Remember when, I was young and so were you and time stood still. And love was all we knew. You were the first, so was I. Made love and then you cried, remember when?
We lived and learned, life threw curves. There was joy and there was hurt, remember when? We came together, we fell apart, we broke each other's heart. Remember when?
Remember when, thirty seemed so old. Now looking back, it's just a stepping stone to where we are. Where we been, said we'd do it all again. Remember when?
Almost Home // Craig Morgan
He had plastic bags wrapped 'round his shoes, he was covered with the evening news. Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands, bank sign was flashing five below.
It was freezing rain and spitting snow, he was curled up behind some garbage cans. I was afraid that he was dead, I gave him a gentle shake. When he opened up his eyes, I said, "old man, are you okay?"
He said, "I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree. I was running from some honey bees. Drip-drying in the summer breeze after jumping into Calico Creek. I was walking down an old dirt road, past a field of hay that had just been mowed. Man, I wish you'd just left me alone.
'Cause I was almost home." Then he said, "I was just coming round the barn, 'bout the time you grabbed my arm. I was close enough for my old nose to smell fresh cobbler on the stove.
And I saw daddy loading up the truck. Cane poles on the tailgate, bobbers blowing in the wind. Since July of '55, that's as close as I've been."
Dirty Laundry // Carrie Underwood
That lipstick on your collar, well, it ain't my shade of pink and I can tell by the smell of perfume it's like forty dollars too cheap. And there's a little wine stain on the pocket of your white-collar thread.
You drink beer and whiskey, boy. And you know I don't drink red. Now, I'm gonna have to hang you out to dry, dry, dry. Clothespin all your secrets to the line, line, line.
Leave 'em blowing in the wind and say goodbye to you. All those midnight sneaking in. "I'm late again, oh, I'm so sorry." All the Ajax in the world ain't gonna clean your dirty laundry.

And another character whom you ain’t too fond of that I commandeered for my self-insert OC shenanigans: Dylan Brock! With gender depending on the tale, much like a JRPG character. With TomHardy!Venom as his/her dad. Born to an OC of mine meant to be a mixture of Beck Underwood and Jenna Cole.
I honestly wouldn't have a problem with Dylan Brock if it wasn't for their fucked up OOC origins. Another reason why I hate Donny Cates take on the Lethal Protector. Your interpretation sounds much better.

“Hamster & Gretel”: A Series With Promise
Hamster & Gretel tells the story of 16-year-old boy, Kevin, who helps his sister, Gretel, when she and her pet hamster get superpowers. It is an animated action, comedy, and superhero series created by Dan Povenmire. He is well-known for being a co-creator of Phineas and Ferb, and Milo Murphy's Law, with his Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, often his writing partner. The series debuted on August 12.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs, my History Hermann WordPress blog on Feb. 19, 2023, and Wayback Machine. This was the thirteenth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on September 1, 2022. This article was originally written for The Geekiary, but due to their guidelines I submitted to Pop Culture Maniacs instead.
Hamster & Gretel has a pretty simple storyline. An elementary school kid named Gretel (Meli Povenmire) is granted the power to fly and superstrength. She fights alongside her hamster (Beck Bennett). Her older teenage brother, Kevin (Michael Camino), tries to guide Gretel and Hamster. He helps them recognize what it means to defeat evil and remain superheroes.
The series is set in the same universe as Milo Murphy's Law and Phineas and Ferb. Although it has been stated that no official crossover will happen, it is not known which characters will reappear in Hamster & Gretel.
Diversity is a big part of Hamster & Gretel. Gretel and Kevin are Venezuelan lead characters. Their mother, Carolina Grant-Gomez (Carolina Ravessa) is Venezuelan. The fact that the head writer, Joanna Hausmann, is Venezuelan, as is Povenmire's wife, according to a podcast, inspired these characters.
Additionally, the series is based on a dynamic between Povenmire and his younger sister. It is also inspired by Povenmire's family. The series will focus on Kevin and Gretel's sibling relationship, according to show director Amber Tornquist Hollinger.
Hamster & Gretel includes many former cast and crew who worked on Povenmire's previous projects. Hiromi "Romi" Dames, who voices Hiromi, a geeky comic book ship employee that Kevin has a crush on, voiced Charlene & Sharon Burlee in Milo Murphy's Law. Phil LaMarr voiced Marcus Underwood in the same show, while Alyson Stoner voiced Lydia.
Danny Jacob, a composer, performer, and songwriter for Phineas and Ferb, is the series composer and song producer. Like Milo Murphy's Law, Povenmire is involved with the show's music. However, he is more involved in the songwriting for this series.
As for Stoner, her voice acting as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro in Phineas and Ferb is well-known. In this series, LaMarr voices a supervillain, Professor Exclamation. Stoner voices Lauren/The Destructress. The latter is part of an fraternal evil duo with Lyle/FistPuncher (Brock Powell).

Hamster & Gretel has promise as a new series due to its animation and voice acting. Even the simple storylines have the potential to lead to something more. It is easily digestible and doesn't take itself seriously. This quality is not only present in Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law, but Kim Possible, a classic 2000s Disney series.
Reportedly, Hamster & Gretel has action sequences with better quality than the two aforementioned series co-created by Povenmire. The series garnered voice actors like Joey King, who voices Fred, a tech-savvy cousin of Kevin. Also, actor and comedian Matt Jones voices Dave, the father of Kevin and Gretel.
Povenmire voices an unseen extraterrestrial entity. Internet personality Liza Koshy voices Veronica Hill, a no-nonsense news reporter. Priah Ferguson (best known from Stranger Things) has a breakout animation voice role as Bailey, a school friend of Gretel. Also, Povenmire’s daughter, Meli, has her first big-time voice role as Gretel.
The show's voice actors are experienced. They voiced characters in The Simpsons, American Dad!, Adventure Time, Amphibia, and Onyx Equinox. Series such as Victor and Valentino, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Legend of Korra, We Bare Bears, DC Super Hero Girls, Harley Quinn, Final Space, Craig of the Creek, and Disenchantment also featured some of the show's voice talent.
Diverse representation of characters of Venezuelan descent and Black characters, like Bailey, is a key part of the series. However, it remains to be seen whether there will be LGBTQ+ characters or not.
Specifically, Camino described himself as straight but said he doesn't want his sexuality "in a box". Stoner, as I noted in my review of Phineas and Ferb, stated her attraction to men, women, and "people who identify in other ways". She also said she wanted to remain fluid in how she identified her sexual orientation. Hopefully, these qualities are portrayed in the characters they voice.
Furthermore, the series has emphasized the importance of being your true self and acceptance. Having LGBTQ+ characters would not be a stretch. It would easily fall within the series.
Dave cries as Carolina introduces Dave's "lost" dad as a present
Even so, the series has some downsides. For one, it is not a young adult series like The Owl House, which will is ending possibly this year with its final season, or the recently ended Amphibia. Instead, kids and families are the target audience.
This is not unique. Currently airing Disney series like Big City Greens, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Chibiverse, Chip 'n' Dale: Park Life, and Monsters at Work appeal to this demographic. In addition, upcoming series such as Cars on the Road, Firebuds, Cookies & Milk, Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Tiana, Iwaju, Moana: The Series, Hailey's On It!, Primos, and Kiff are geared toward the same audience.
This contrasts with Star Wars: The Bad Batch and What...If?, which have more mature themes. Even The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder falls into this category. Such series are not, for the most part, the focus Disney executives. Instead, they want to remain family-friendly despite the growth of the young adult animation genre with series like Dead End: Paranormal Park, The Owl House, and Infinity Train.
In addition, the series has an issue with implied self-inserts. For one, Povenmire appears to loosely base Kevin on himself. Secondly, the father of Kevin and Gretel has a similar name to Povenmire. This complicates the series in various ways.
It is an open question as to how effective the series can be without Swampy, who is reportedly voicing characters later in the series, as a co-creator, and co-writer. Milo Murphy’s Law and Phineas and Ferb were strong due to their combined talents.
In addition, I have concerns about the series’ staying power considering the first episode is not strong. The theme song is not very good.
Furthermore, since Povenmire wrote and performed the song, it makes me worried that the series will be middling, rather than superb. Generally, I have a high tolerance for theme songs. But, I dislike this one more than Arcane‘s theme, sung by Imagine Dragons.
Kevin and Gretel singing about family togetherness
Despite this, the pop music of Hamster & Gretel is like Milo Murphy’s Law and Phineas and Ferb. I was glad to see a rap battle at the end of “Neigh, It Ain’t So!” It reminded me of the much smoother rap battle between Rinku and Muni in D4DJ, voicing their grievances about each other in song. Hamster & Gretel may do something similar.
It is a distinct possibility that this series will do something akin to the sick battle dance in now non-canon 2005 The Proud Family Movie. It has a bizarre plot almost pulled from Kim Possible or Totally Spies! episode. Currently, such music battles generally only occur in anime series, but Hamster & Gretel could change that.
I liked the reference to the anime series within the show’s universe about cheerleaders who masquerade as students in the daytime but have superpowers otherwise. It had a feel of Totally Spies! and was a clear parody of absurd anime out there.
Situational comedy is an important part of the series, similar to Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy’s Law. It is coupled performances said to be “inspired“, featuring actors like Thomas Sanders, who voiced a character in the TV film, Candace Against the Universe.
With other Disney series like Elena of Avalor, Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, and Mira Royal Detective having elaborate musical numbers, it is likely that Hamster & Gretel will follow suit. There is also a distinct possibility that Disney will revive Phineas and Ferb as well.
Since ten episodes of Hamster & Gretel are on Disney+, the series appears to be one-third through the 30 episodes ordered for its first season. This means that there is a possibility that the series will become even better as the season continues.
Despite my criticisms, I tentatively recommend the series, and hope it improves in the future.
Hamster & Gretel can be watched on Disney+ or the Disney Channel.

Spoilers for Venom War up to this point/griping about said event lol, and absolutely wild speculation about the future of Venom comics:
can't wait for 11/27 to pass and for me to be free from event hell. at this point I don't even care how it ends (though there are a few things we do know, i.e. that there will be a new Venom and also that Eddie will be Carnage for a little while) I just want it to be over! I'm curious what will happen particularly with Flash now that he's FINALLY been de-Anti-Venom'd. (I hope it involves Aria and kissing.)
As far as Eddie being Carnage, well, we know it won't stick. But if Dylan dies then the loss could mean the Symbiote's worst fear realized and would explain why it's gone out to find a new broody, hunky boy. And of course Eddie would probably be sad, or whatever. Or extremely pissed. Or maybe thinking he can use Red to bring back his son? This is all obviously just wild speculation on my part but who knows!!!
I do think that eventually Red will see the error of her ways (pursuing power via that weird sword thing as opposed to having happy fun murder time with her husband) and leave Eddie for Cletus but like. It might be interesting to see Eddie in his first heterosexual relationship since Beck Underwood (joking! mostly). But it's pretty clear at least to me that even if Symby + New Guy could last a while, Eddie + Red is unlikely to.
Sure, we saw him with Toxin for a hot minute, but that was because Crime Master forced them to bond... and because Flash!Venom needed a worthy romantic partner. I mean, opponent. Yeah. Enemy. Totally.
Ahem, anyways.
I don't feel this is a similar situation though! Red is very independent in comparison and has a very clear idea of what she wants.
It might be weird to say but I kind of hope Peter Parker does continue to be involved in Symbiote stuff because it's fun. And if not him, Miles could be a great addition given his recent encounters with Carnage and also Mac Gargan. Not to mention he held his own REALLY well at the beginning of the Cates run against Venom and then Knull! If Peter can't break up Red and Eddie, Miles probably could lmao
Hmm what else... if Flash really is going to be de-powered, I still think a great role for him would be kind of mentoring Normie and Rascal? But also like that's his NEPHEW it's actually CRIMINAL he hasn't been more involved. Surely Liz has told him. Does Peter even know??? You know, Normie's godfather???
God. I'm so mad about the state of the Spidey cast.
Peak hilarity would still be if Symby rejoined with Mac for a few pages before latching on to Luke Cage or whoever. Try it out again for an hour before both going NOPE and calling it a day.

Derrel Maury in Massacre at Central High (Rene Daalder, 1976)
Cast: Derrel Maury, Andrew Stevens, Robert Carradine, Kimberly Beck, Ray Underwood, Steve Bond, Rex Steven Sikes, Lani O'Grady, Damon Douglas, Dennis Kort, Cheryl Smith, Jeffrey Winner, Tom Logan. Screenplay: Rene Daalder. Cinematography: Bertram van Munster. Art direction: Russell Tune. Film editing: Harry Keramidas. Music: Tommy Leonetti.
With its often clunky acting, gratuitous nudity, and marginal production values, Massacre at Central High looks like a standard exploitation flick. And knowing that writer-director Rene Daalder's mentor was the master of exploitation flicks, Russ Meyer, only goes to confirm that first impression. The film's teenagers are played by actors in their mid-20s; there is a sappy musical score with an inane song over both the opening and closing credits; the visuals* reflect the tightness of the film's budget. The setup is familiar: A new student comes to a high school where the student body is harassed by a group of bullies. When he stands up to the bullies he is seriously injured. So he decides to take revenge by offing the bullies, one by one, in imaginative ways. But murder will out, and in the end he is hoist with his own petard -- literally. And if Massacre at Central High had stuck to that formula, it could have been the conventional exploitation flick. But Daalder takes things a step further, adding some provocative and intelligent twists to the tale. The revenge plot doesn't end with the protagonist, David (Derrel Maury), taking care of the bullies. Once he's done that, the bullied students become bullies themselves, and David has to deal with that unforeseen problem. And for the better part of the film, we never see an adult authority figure, a parent, a teacher, or a school administrator. David takes their role on himself. It's an adolescent's dream world turned nightmare. Even at the end, the adults who do appear, at an improbable "Student-Alumni Prom," are ineffectual -- they seem to be the students' grandparents -- and in danger of becoming victims of David's planned massacre. The film takes an unrelentingly harsh view of human nature: It's often compared to William Golding's 1954 novel Lord of the Flies and the films made of it by Peter Brook in 1963 and Harry Hook in 1990, and considered a precursor to the movie Heathers (Michael Lehmann, 1989). I don't think Massacre at Central High quite measures up to that standard -- there's still a lot of cheesiness for the viewer to overcome -- but it's a kind of classic in spite of itself.
*Cinematographer Bertram van Munster is better known as the Emmy-winning creator and executive producer of the reality competition series The Amazing Race.
