Deciphering the Angelic Language

DO NOT ASK NEIL ABOUT FAN THEORY

Oh boy, I'm finally tackling a post on this! I haven't seen a ton of discussion about this or progress and I think that's because it's very complicated. I've done a bit of work on it and I'm hoping by sharing here we'll be able to combine our brainpower and make some more progress!

SO! Let's get into it shall we?

Let's start with what we've been told about the Angelic Language:

An SFX team member said that the pillars in heaven "don't translate into words" (so maybe it translates into something like hex? ASCII?)

A speaker at Ineffablecon confirmed that the language "contains meaning and can be decoded"

According to the Chapter 6 VFX Breakdown video, "The creative team broke down the symbols into an alphabet of about 140 runes"

I'm going to start with that last bullet point. An alphabet of about 140 runes, which math-wise narrows down what type of alphabet we might be looking at. Specifically, I think it might point to Consonant/Vowel Pairs, which gives you 126 characters, then add in numbers and punctuation, you've got about 140. That's my best guess anyway.

The next thing i did was look at the Heaven CCTV footage of Gabriel FRAME BY FRAME to analyze the runes on the screen in these scenes. I think this is the best place to start for a number of reasons, first of all, being that the CCTV footage seems to only use a subset of the runes that don't include and modifications like extra dots or ticks. I consider them base runes.

Secondly, the runes cycle through a lot of changes here so it's a great place to look for patterns, and find patterns I did.

I found 4 sets of runes that cycle sequentially through a repeating pattern. Okay I'm going to do my very best to explain this.

The above we will call set A

The above we will call set B

The above we will call set C

The above we will call set D

The runes on the CCTV will *almost* always follow the sequence of their set, and when they reach the end of the set, they're marked with one of the following first two sequences below which I'm referring to as "indicator runes" after which they either repeat the same set or a different set.

The only time the runes change in the middle of a sequence is when they're denoted by the third row indicator runes before the change occurs.

So there does at least seem to be some pattern to the runes, at least when it comes to the ones used in the CCTV footage. These however are only about half of the total number of runes, the other half are derived from these initial ones, and have additional tick marks and dots added to them to add some sort of meaning and differentiation.

These screen grabs are from the Chapter 6 VFX Breakdown video, and during the lead in to these animations I think I can also say that the language is probably read right to left, as that's the direction the runes scroll in on the screen.

These scenes are also shown with a certain glowing overlay, so I'm wondering if when we can figure the language out, if there is an interesting message here to be read as well.

Anyway! If you have any other info or this has sparked any ideas about the language for you please let me know! I will continue to play with it and update when I have anything of note! :)

Just one more chapter left, and in cased you missed it, I won't be doubling up on chapters per day this week. The last chapter will be out next week.

Doubling up really killed the numbers for these stories, half the time people were only reacting and commenting on the SECOND chapter.

But don't worry, what this means is that your favorites you've been seeing snippets of on WIP will get quicker releases this way.

In this Eddie's rut progresses as normal, they talk about Steve's status, and Eddie and Benny learn some very interesting things about golden omegas.

Eddie came to and was sure that at least a day had passed, but he looked at the clock on Steve’s nightstand and frowned. It had only been five hours since his rut had started. He looked in the wastebasket and there were only three condoms in it which fit the time frame.

He looked around, but Steve wasn’t there. He sat up and the sheet that had been covering his waist slid off. He looked down and saw that his dick was sheathed with another condom.

There was some of Steve’s slick on the sheets, but considering Eddie was still in them, he figured Steve couldn’t change them yet.

He could hear Steve humming to a beat in the kitchen and padded out there.

He smiled fondly as he watched the omega dance around his kitchen to the music in his head. Bopping and hopping as he made a wholesome snack.

“That snack looks good, baby,” he said, his alpha rumbling happily, “but I would rather eat you.”

Steve squeaked. “Eddie! You’re awake! How do you feel?”

For the first time since he woke up, he took stock of his body, really examining it.

“Warm, sated...” he said furrowing his brow, “happy?”

Steve beamed at him. “Yay! That means your rut is progressing as it should. It seems like your body is adjusting better to the low light and you’re more lucid.”

Eddie came up behind him and buried his nose into Steve’s scent gland. “All because of you, sweetness.”

Steve squawked when Eddie picked him and spun him around.

When Eddie finally put him down Steve swatted at him playfully. “You absolute menace.”

Eddie cackled. “Yes, but I’m your menace.”

Steve turned around in his arms and kissed him deeply. Their cocks brushed against each other and he let out a low moan.

“So good...”

Eddie nipped at Steve’s chin. “Let’s get some food in us and then I want something else in you.”

Steve snorted. They ate and hydrated before Eddie picked Steve up bridal style and carried him back to the bedroom.

Eddie could feel himself sliding back into the blind haze of his rut, but the scent of the omega underneath him stirred some distant memory, but it was lost in the next moment when Steve moaned.

The pattern continued like that for the five days. Steve and Eddie taking care of each other while Eddie was lucid, Steve taking care him when he wasn’t.

Eddie had never experienced a rut that had gone so smooth. He understood why alphas paid top dollar for an escort to service their ruts if every one was like this.

He knew that he wouldn’t be able to spend another rut without Steve for as long as he was biologically able to experience ruts.

Each time he became lucid, he would become aware for longer. The last day having two hours before the rut took over him again.

But he used those two hours wisely. He talked to Steve.

“Baby,” Eddie said, from the sofa, “come sit for a bit. You know it won’t hit again for awhile, you might as well relax.”

Steve looked over at him and smiled. He padded over to the sofa and curled up onto Eddie’s lap.

“How are you feeling?” he murmured into Eddie’s neck.

“I’m good,” Eddie replied. “This was worth every penny. I see why it’s so popular.”

Steve chuckled. “I’m glad that it’s available to alphas that can’t afford escorts through clinics.”

“That’s a new thing, though right?” Eddie asked. “I don’t remember seeing them when I first presented.”

“Yeah,” Steve said, nodding. “It’s something that a lot of the major escort houses pushed for in recent years, if all alphas can get the same level of care that the rich do, then it lowers the chances of alphas turning feral from bad ruts.”

Eddie grinned. “It would have happened in the last five years or so, would it? Like say when a particular omega became popular?”

Steve blushed but didn’t deny it. Alpha health was something he had been passionate about for awhile. Helping everyone no matter how much money someone had was just the start of what he wanted to do. Mandating sex education for alphas. It was mandated for omegas and beta, but not alphas, because ‘alphas instinctively knew what to do’ with omegas. Which was bullshit.

“I thought so,” Eddie said.

Steve smiled back. “I’ve even got a non-profit going setting up education booths outside high schools for alphas to get pamphlets and other material about their reproductive health.”

“Ooh, ooh!” Eddie said, nearly vibrating with excitement. “We should throw a gala like the one where we met to get the awareness out there.”

“That’s a great idea, Eds,” Steve said, kissing Eddie’s jaw.

They settled down into a warm silence for awhile just taking in each other’s soothing presence.

Eddie nuzzled Steve ear to wake him. “Hey, you tired, sweetness?”

Steve roused himself and looked up at him bleary eyed. “I guess I am. You see this rough and tumble alpha has been keeping my hole hot and full for the few days. Trying to keep up with him is tiring me out.”

Eddie cackled. “Yeah, if he wears you out so bad, you should blacklist him or something.”

“I would, but I’m in love with his cock so...”

Eddie’s head reared back in mock indignation. “Excuse you!”

Steve laughed. He pressed a kiss to Eddie’s scent gland and the alpha purred. Steve’s omega chirped happily in response.

“I love your scent,” Eddie murmured. “It’s not like other escorts I’ve met.”

Steve looked up at him in confusion. “What do you mean?”

“Chrissy, Elinor, Tommy,” Eddie said. “All smell too sweet. Like fruit rotting on the vine. A terrible but apt metaphor for their condition. But you smell spicy. But in sweet kind of way.”

“I do?” Steve really never thought about his own scent before.

Eddie nodded. “Gareth described it like Mexican hot chocolate. You know the kind that is spiced with peppers?”

Steve nodded back.

“Did you ever think that you might be a golden omega?” Eddie continued.

Steve’s eyes went wide. “Never. Like why would I? I’m not special.”

“That’s highly debatable, sweetheart,” Eddie admonished. “But your scent and everything you’ve told me about your family. It’s very possible you could be.”

“Is that why you wanted to court me?” Steve asked, soft and small. Like a mouse.

Eddie pulled Steve in closer. “No baby, I didn’t figure it out until later. I wanted to court you because you are funny and amazing and everything I’ve ever wanted in a mate.”

He lift Steve’s chin up and kissed him deeply. “Plus, I set up the rut way before I put the pieces together. Everything was set to protect me, but it seems to me that it may end up protecting you, too.”

“What do you mean?”

“As you know, golden omegas can only get pregnant during their heats,” Eddie said. “And since I’m a known scent breaker...”

Steve’s eyes went wide. “You think there is a chance I’ll go into a mini heat, don’t you?”

Eddie nodded. “When I first booked you, it was one of the things Robin was adamant about protecting you from.”

“She’s amazing like that,” Steve murmured.

“She really is,” Eddie cooed. “But it looks like our time is up, honey.”

Robin laughed. “Please do.”

Eddie dashed for the door she pointed to and slammed the door behind him. He stripped his clothes and quickly got under the still cold water. He didn’t want to wait for it to heat up because he felt that gross. His dick was most clean because Steve took the time to wipe him down between condom changes, but he washed it good anyway.

The next thing he focused on was his hair, he had to wash it several times before it felt like it was supposed to. He ran conditioner through the ends of his curls with his fingers, gently massaging it in.

Then he worked on getting the sweat and stink off his body. He hated washing away Steve’s scent, but if he didn’t get clean, Eddie was going to scratch his eyeballs out.

Finally satisfied with how clean he was, he rinsed out his conditioner and stepped out.

He dried off quickly and rummaged through the bag.

Eureka!

Eddie got dressed and then cleaned up his mess, hanging up towels and making sure there wasn’t water everywhere. Uncle Wayne raised him better than to make a mess of someone else’s home.

He opened the door to find Robin and Benny waiting for him.

“Hey, Ben Ten, Birdie,” he greeted, concern dripping from every pore. “What’s happening?”

Benny smiled. “It’s nothing bad. Robin and I were just wrapping up the end of the contract.”

Eddie’s shoulders slumped in relief. He had almost forgotten about the whole thing because he was madly in love with Steve. He sat down on the sofa next to Benny.

“So everything is good?” he asked to be sure.

“Yup!” Robin said brightly. “You are now free to pursue the omega of your dreams.”

Eddie chuckled.

He thought for a moment, licking the bottom of his lip.

“Hey, Robin,” he asked, looking down at his clasped hands, “has an escort ever turned out to be a golden omega?”

Robin and Benny shared a glance.

“You think Steve might be one?” she asked. “Because if he is, that would be fucking hilarious.”

Eddie’s head snapped up.

“His parents have called him useless and a disgrace for being infertile for over a decade,” Robin explained. “To have him be a golden omega who could have been sold for ten to twenty times what he got auctioned for? That would be poetic justice.”

He nodded. “So do you think there’s a chance?”

“Sure,” she said with a half shrug. “The agency doesn’t shout it from the rooftops but yeah, there have been a couple of golden omegas that have come out of Starcourt.”

“How did they find out?” Benny asked, suddenly very interested in where this conversation was going.

“A combination of a couple different ways,” Robin said. “The first is how frequent their heats are. Most golden omegas go into heat more often then regular fertile omegas to make up for the fact they can only get pregnant during their heats.”

Eddie nodded, “And Steve’s are within the normal range?”

She waved her hand back and forth. “Kinda. It’s more times a year than a regular omega, but not outside the possibility if you know what I mean.”

“So say a regular omega has four heats a year and golden omega has eight,” Benny said, “Steve’s heat is somewhere in the middle?”

Robin nodded. “Exactly. The other thing is scent. Which you know Steve’s is unusual. But it’s unusual for an omega full stop.”

Benny and Eddie shared a look of confusion. “What do you mean?”

“Alphas scents are spices, like cinnamon, clove, cardamon, or spicy like peppers, or natural woody scents like pine or cedar,” she explained. “Omegas are fruit and floral scents. Sometimes flavors like chocolate or coffee. That includes golden omegas. Infertile omegas have what is always described as rotted fruit. Super sickly sweet.”

Eddie bit his bottom lip, worrying it between his teeth. “But Steve’s is a mix between the two scents?”

Robin nodded again. “Right. The third thing that helps identify a non-tested golden omega is their resistance to scent breakers.”

“Fuck,” Eddie said. “That means he’s not a golden omega. I thought for sure he was. I even told him he was. That he was so special and precious beyond measure.”

She shook her head. “No, Eddie. That’s where you’re wrong. There is a final thing that helps identify if the omega in question is a golden or not.”

Eddie frowned, “What’s that?”

“There’s a reason golden omegas get their choice of any alpha in the country, if not world,” she said fiercely. “And despite what the media likes to paint it as, it’s not just the rich and elite.”

“It’s not?” Benny asked.

Robin shook her head again. “They’re looking for their soulmate.”

It was like someone had scooped out Eddie’s stomach. “Their what?”

“Soulmate,” Robin said. “The person who completes them. Someone who can break through their scent breaking resistance, someone who’s scent compliments their own, someone who when they share their heats and ruts it goes just about as perfectly as two humans can get. And if they meet that person?”

“Oh,” Eddie breathed.

“Oh.”

That was the moment clawdeen knew she had to get to know you and maybe become something more. She didn't know yet but she had this strong feeling in her chest and that she should at least try to find you again today.

Hello!! I was just wondering about something...we don't really have a understanding of Elvis' personality, yeah we have books, videos and articles about the people they were around him but I'm talking about REALLY getting a hold of what personality he had is what's been circling my mind lately.

I don't know why, I've been really interested in personalities recently lol specifically Elvis'😅

Hi, sweetie! Yours is a good question to keep in mind, really. I like to wonder on this topic too. I guess Elvis' personality is very difficult to summarize because of the way his actions contradicted themselves in the messages they give. He was mainly a good person, as we all know, but also incoherent and even scary at times. It's frustrating trying to describe him because nothing seems to fit well-enough to describe how intense he was.

One thing we know for sure is how dual Elvis was - and we all are, no doubt, but Elvis's duality was very prominent, very much like changing one thing into the complete opposite in no time, as if there was no middle ground, just this or that.

The way I see it, EP was like a whole universe with all it's wonders and scary truths put together at once; like white and black, the good and bad, fire and rain, light and dark, a desert weather and a harsh winter in just one little space. He could be a spontaneous, extroverted open person, very sweet, generous, peaceful, attentive, warm, easy-going, friendly, supportive, affectionate, loyal, very wise, meditative, spiritually fervent believer in God, family-oriented, just an ingenuous little boy with a soothing peaceful and loving energy that could calm the most anxious of hearts that approached him, without even meaning to, and yet at the same extent he could also be shy, a loner, mean (here and there, both in words and actions), freezing cold, selfish, a loner, unreasonable, hot-tempered, promiscuous, sly, hopeless and lost, a control freak and a reckless disturbed man with such intense energy people could be afraid of doing something that could unleash the beast in him (that's why very, very little of his friends or family were brave enough to go against any thing Elvis would say/do or with his way of thinking), and then again he would turn into something else... He would look so confident, so strong and self-assured, a very powerful entity, but around the ones he trusted just enough he still let himself be vulnerable, acting just like a baby, begging for someone to take care of him, to show him patience, understanding, to make him feel safe, to hold him and never let go.

With the little knowledge we have about EP, we could use those and many adjectives to describe his personality but we can't summarize Elvis Presley better than to simply say he was human. Elvis was "too much of everything"... overwhelming, in a good and a little bad way too. The way he was such a good person, the way through his friends, family, co-workers and fans' memories Elvis sounds like one of the best people one could ever have the pleasure of meeting in this life, his moments of irrational and hurtful actions (towards people and himself) confuses us when we try to understand what Elvis was really about. I bet it was very confusing to understand him even for his family, lovers and friends, so it wouldn't be easy for us to understand him when we not really met him in person.

The King's personality is so intriguing! That's why there's books with analysis in both scientific medical and social fields, psychologists and psychiatrists wrote after studying Elvis' behavior patterns and what they tells us about him. Much beyond the stories their friends and general acquaintances told and how they portrayed EP in those many books and interviews we read/saw over the years, I think those psychological studies are the best way to go in depth about Elvis' personality. Even so I don't believe one single book can do all the accurate, proper work on it, one of those books I can mention now is "The Inner Elvis - A Psychological Biography Of Elvis Aaron Presley" by Peter O. Whitmer Ph.D. - I haven't read the book myself because I want to finish the friends and family books, the most important ones at least, before going deeper into Elvis' personality analysis but I've read parts of it and it's interesting. I would recommend you, if you haven't yet, to read this book.

Anyhow, I think we'll never have an accurate picture of Elvis Presley as a person, friend. One: Because people in general are difficult to understand. We contradict ourselves all the time, according to the situations we face. And two: Because nobody, for the best they can be at reading people, can really tell us what goes on inside another one's heart and mind. I guess being such a mystery is another wonder of Elvis. Hello, I'm back with more character designs and descriptions of undertale au

So next up is

Monster Kid!

He is a bit different than the cannon version of Monster Kid. While the Monster kid in undertale absolutely adores Undyne and is, for the most part is a sweet kid Overhaul Monster kid is different. He is a lot quieter and doesn't really share his interests with anyone. He still looks up to Undyne, but he doesn't fan boy about it as much as his cannon counterpart.

That's all the information about Monster Kid at the moment, so I'll move on to the next character which is

Undyne!

Undyne is another character who got genderswaped in my au. (Just to remind you, I used a spinned the wheel app to decide the characters gender in my au) One of the big changes in his design is his very obvious tail I added

Ypu might be wondering "is there any sufficient reason for Undyne to have a tail?"

no...

I just thought it looked cool.

Anyways, here are some differences between Overhaul and Cannon Undyne.

Number 1 My version of Undyne is slightly shorter than the original version.

Number two, unlike cannon Undyne Overhaul, tends to have a think first, then punch the person in the face mentality. (But he doesn't think for long)

Number three, he had Alphys make an eye path that alouds him to see through walls. (And his eyepatch is on the opposite side of his face from the cannon Undyne)

Number four, he is slightly more visibility buffer than the cannon Undyne (but that's only because he is slightly shorter. Technically, they both have the same muscle mass)

Finally, number five, his reasoning for not allowing papyrus into the royal gaurd is somewhat different from the cannon Undynes reason. His reason for not allowing papyrus is because he's afraid that if papyrus ever was in a position of royal gaurd and was sent to fight a human, she might put too much effort into her attacks and might kill herself in the process. And he doesn't want that to happen.

Now that we covered Undyne, let's move on, too

Alphys!

He is also another character who has been genderswap (Thankfully. I didn't know what to do if both Undyne and Alphys were opposite genders from eachother)

Anyways I don't have really much to say on Alphys at the moment he right now personality wise hasn't really changed from the cannon version, so we will move on.

Next up Muffet!

Again, much hasn't changed other than Gender and Height, so we will just skip him like we did Alphys.

Next up River Person!

Ah, here we go somebody with some notasible changes. So let's go over them

Number one River Person is a part of a new hierarchy called the Court of the Underground. The Court helps the Judge of the Underground come to a verdict of whether a fallen human is good or evil.

Number two, River Person has a werid bond with Sans. I wouldn't say they are close, but he does allow sans to use him to aid her in battle. (Which is why Overhaul Sans has two defense instead of one)

Finally, number three they are capable of teleporting directly to the judge of the underground at any given moment

Alright, next up

Mettaton!

Another one I don't have much to say on. The only differences I have made so far are design and gender differences. Other than that, they are mostly the same as the cannon Mettaton, so I'll move on to our last character I have made.

Asgore!

They are a bit different than the normal Asgore.

Let's go over the differences now.

Number one he is a lot more cold than the cannon Asgore. Thus, this is due to the fact that his Wive Toriel died during the Human and Monster War and that both of his children died to humans, so he is not as kind nor friendly.

Number two He is a lot more aware of his "world" than the original Asgore. If the human figures out how to avoid an attack the next time they die, he will change up his attack pattern and strategy.

Number three, he has a soul ability to make the human soul slower, making it harder to avoid his attacks. (This soul ability turns your soul pink)

Finally, number four, he has a very bitter relationship with Toriels brother, and they would constantly but heads with each other and get into fights.

And.... that's basically everything I have to showcase of this au so far! I do have one more surprise for later, but for right now, this is the end of the showcase. I'll come back with more information on the au at some later point. Until then, this is all for now. See ya in the next timeline!

LET'S TALK GENSHIN AND REMURIA AND ARLECCHINO BEFORE I FORGET AND WE'RE ALREADY IN SECOND HALF OF THE PATCH WHY DOES TIME FLY WHEN YOU'RE AN ADULT

I'm gonna start the post with a few paragraphs I wrote just a few days after the patch went live:

So I finished the first Remuria world quest - it was beautiful. And really not as long as I first expected it to be. I probably could have finished it on the first day if I wouldn't have been as tired as I was

First of all the new map is beautiful. You'd think after 3? patches of map expansions where we already got underwater stuff it would feel repetetive but somehow it looks and feels different and refreshing. Maybe because majority of the map are caves where you can walk normally or they're ruins... idk.

I couldn't help but draw parallels between Remuria and HSR's Penacony tho, especially look-wise, the talk of a dreamscape and the theme of music. Especially now after finishing Penacony 2.2 I can't help but feel the two are very similar in certain aspects... the motive of Harmony and Song and Peace and saving a people and Gods? Also the way Remuria looks is so similar to certain things in Penacony? I already said rhis in my post on HSR, this is absolutely no hate whatsoever. I reckon there's only so much you can do with these motives? It's interesting how differently it looks in both games tho.

So yeah, Remuria is beautiful. The music is an out of body experience and encapsulates the whole thing perfectly. I haven't explored all of the map yet, but I like the new mechanisms a lot. The floating books look so cool and just generally the significance of music through it all... *sigh* it's so enjoyable.

So far for Remuria... i definitely missed a few things I wanted to say but it's been like 2 weeks since I played this and I definitely forgot something haha

AS FOR ARLECCHINO THO

First of all she's broken omg. It is kind lf annoying that it'll take weeks to max out her talents, rn for me she's sitting at crowned NA and skill and burst are level 7 each. But she still hits for like over 50k with each normal attack when she has a bond of life. Don't even get me started on her with Yelan MY GOD.

Okay with that out of the way let me talk about her story quest. First of all I find it very intriguing that hyv gave up on the usual pattern of having the second weekly boss for a nation be tied to the Archon and their respective second story quest (besides Mond ig)... i mean yeah Fontaine's archon situatipn is very peculiar but technically Neuvilette has taken over the role for now, right? Neither him nor Furina getting a second story quest makes me think Neuvi's probably gonna get his way later because it'll be HUGE. Again I wanna say that lore wise Neuvi is my fav character... HES JUST SO FNDNDBDN. And Furina is probably gonna get a pretty "random" one at one point kinda like Yoimiya did or Cyno... like its gonna be a good quest but it'a gonna be random. ANYWAY

I wonder how much different I would habe perceived the quest if I hadn't watched the Animated Short about Arlecchino that they put on Youtube... like it's her whole backstory? I could see where the quest was going right from the beginning because of it... that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, tho

Childe's little surprise cameo made me so happy c: MY BOY. He's alive snd well AND IN FONTAINE. Let me remind ypu we last officially saw him in the last Atchon quest gwtting yeeted into a black hole by Skirk. Then it was mentioned at the end that he was being treated and sent gome to Snezhnaya. Well...

The whole cryptic talk between Arle and Childe was quite interesting... so this project by the Fatui, right? (Forgot the name rn bc it's been a few days since I played the quest) Is it fonna be significant for Natlans story? What does it entail?? THE TEASE NNNNGNNGHH

I wonder if at some point in the game we're actually gonna see Lyney become the new head of House of the Hearth. Like... it's mentioned quite a lot in his story as well as in everything that has tp do with the House and Sröecchino herself... I wonder 🤔

Throughout the story I was reminded that one of the first things we heard about her (Childes voiceline that came out in like??? 3.0 or so???). It was that she would turn her back on and betray the Harbingers (AND THE TSARISTA) without second thought. She even says this herself in her voicelines. I just wonder what her ultimate goal is? To free herself from the curse? Which btw they tell us nothing about in the story. Story is all about the House and its inner workings and Arle's feelings about it and plans for the future (which I love btw but still not quite understand)... we also casually get told that Arle is not even that old??? Like the whole thing with Crucabena is so recent that Freminet remembers her???? Amd Arle was maybe a Teenager when she killed her so like??? She's only around 10 years older than the kids????

So how come she's a descendant from Khaenri'ah? I don't know if I read somewhere abput it or if its a rumor but not confirmed or if its said in her personal story which I haven't read yet but... she'a from the crimson moon dynasty? Or has some ties to it? And her curse is definitely related to it BUT WHAT IS HER CURSE EXACTLY. WHY DOES SHE HAVE IT. If she's only in maybe her late 20s she couldn't have been an actual Khaenriahn citizen (same as Kaeya and he still gives me the same headache thinking about this) so how does it all tie together in the end?? Does it have to do with the God of time maybe??? (Nevermind if this is talked about in her personal story in her profile I haven't read that yet)

So yeah... the fight woth her was so cool. The animation??? I saw people get upset about the fact that Traveler couldn't beat her but I actually love that?? Like... She'a #4 of the Harbingers and has some curse probably tied to Khaenriah and she KILLED A HARBINGER WHEN SHE WAS A TEENAGER??? Traveler nlt being this almighty MC makes them so much mlre likeable like yeah... they are obv far from having their actual power back? It took us ... how many times to fight Shuki No Kami before we could defeat it in the final try to learn all the patterns? The game wants to tell us that there's much more powerful enemies in Teyvat and rhis is only the beginning. Let me tell you yeah we beat Signora but it was Raiden who killed her... it was Zhongli who subdued Azhdaha. We only healed Apep with Nahidas help. Traveler has never been able to easily defeat these big enemies, they always had help. Yeah they have been getting stronger, they've been getting access to more elements but the bis enemies are just getting stronger and bigger too... I wonder where that will lead. Maybe the twins are only gonna get their true power bavk once they're united... ANYWAY

Her weekly boss fight is cool too. Using different mechanisms again, with the whole Bond of Life thing and all. She does this one attack in her second phase that I just... can't get behind tho. Someone always has to be the victim, THE SACRIFICE, to get me through haha. Idk how to dodge or avoid that attack. The one where she floats above the arena and then these bombs? Idk? Come down and basically crash down on the whole arena and I haven't found a spot where you can aboid getting hit and therefore killed immediately idk.

So yeah that's all for now. Very excited to play Cyno's second story quest. Heard only good things so far about it, which is good because I really didn't like his first one 💀 probably gonna get around to play it one of these days. Same as with the rest of Remuria exploration, gonna need mlre Clorinde funds :3

Downton Abbey Fashion 14 - post-war indoors fashion

Time to sic up Mary against Lavinia! Well, fashion-wise; Mary is remarkably tame this season (I guess that’s why her extreme relapse a couple seasons later vexes me so). But anyway, Matthew’s throw-away love interest and Matthew’s perfect-love-of-his-life-for-ever-and-ever serve us some interesting optical contrast.

Yay, boring white blouses for Mary. The second one is not so boring, sporting some darling lace and this Edwardian “two stripes running vertically from the shoulders over the front” style, which is neat, but I really don’t have anything to say about the first. Uhm, it has buttons?

This blouse on the other hand provokes not one, but two comments: Firstly, Mary is a hypocrite criticizing Edith’s sense of fashion when one of Edith’s outfits is almost 1:1 a copy of hers in the first picture, complete with a red skirt with buckle and a blouse that has these collar tails ending in tassels. Secondly, this type of way more streamlined blouse foreshadows that, different than Cora whose figure is imo best complimented by Edwardian fashion, Mary will transition into 1920s styles with ease; she is the somewhat angular type that was the fashion ideal then.

It’s the pretty grey linen dress! At least I assume it’s linen. This will be Anna’s in season 3, presumably after she has taken it in an inch or two on every seam. I don’t know what it is, but something about this dress compels me. The cute buttons? I’ll say it’s the cute buttons.

Pffft. Where I’ll say the previous dress looks cute and pretty on Mary, I just cannot take this one seriously. Where did she get that from? Did she order an Edwardian Heidi cosplay? Anyway. This sure is a dress that exists. Light blue stripey pattern, pleated front, white lace; it’s all where it should be. I just don’t think Mary should ever again wear something that makes her look like she got cast as Maria in The Sound Of Music. That is very much not her character type!

Better. A bit dull on the colors; I wouldn’t have minded if she’d worn this blouse with one of her deep red skirts, but I guess she went low risk with the richly flowered fabric. My guess is on chiffon because while this is not see-through in the critical places, it does seem very lightweight and drapey.

See? She’ll wear a red skirt with a patterned blouse. Silver silk seems to be a Crawley lady thing just after purple, whereas square buckles are a Mary thing. These colors and this styling look way more appropriate on her than the girly light blue dress.

… “Ugh, I hate black.” Sure you do; that’s why you wear a very plain, entirely undecorated black dress when there’s zero mourning to force you. Unless they all did some collective mourning as a society and just went in black after the war for a while. Seriously though, couldn’t she have been a tad more glamorous about the black? She goes with the most sack-like 1920s cut, the sleeves are boring, there’s no trim, embroidery or gathering anywhere. The neckline may be asymmetrical, but I’m not sure if it just doesn’t hang right in this shot. I like the red bead necklace, at least. Next!

Looking at Lavinia, two questions pop up: One, are they dressing her in more pronounced Edwardian fashions to make clear she’s of the past and won’t share the future with Matthew? And two, why does her hairdo remind me more of Bridgerton than the 1910s? Anyway. They do this “wide blouse gathered into a narrow waist” thing on her a lot, and then they accentuate said waist with wide velvet sashes. It looks quite cute, and the second blouse is another take on a style we’ve seen a few times on Edith and Sybil, but that’s just it: Optically, she’s thrown in with the younger Crawley girls, not with her romantic rival. They rub it up our noses that she cannot possibly keep up with Mary the Magnificent.

Perhaps I’m underestimating her character and Julian Fellowes just failed to live up to her potential of sass. Look at this shot and tell me that’s not a lurking bitchface. I expect I should snark at her doing dainty girly stay-at-home things like embroidery, but I have a lot of respect for people who have such a fine control over their needles. Did she do the black blouse herself? I think she could do such a blouse herself, you guys.

Slender Brother Headcanons

These can be varied and everyone has their different opinions, but this is what vibes I get from him so--

Slender:

- Slender is blind. Sort of. While he can’t see you physically, he can see you very clearly with his mind (if that makes sense?) Like he knows where you're at and what your facial expressions are, your movements, etc., but with his mind. But nobody knows this except his brothers. (I also think this would be interesting for fanfics too)

- He does change his ties from time to time, but he rarely ever does it hardly anyone notices. He also has different colored suits, grey and dark dark blue (to wear it almost looks black). But only wears them on occasion.

- I feel like while yes, he does speak English, he can also speak Slavic languages too. (Oh to hear him speaking Russian, truly my favorite language. прекрасный. I also think it’s hilarious that people have added that he can speak German because of him constantly working and getting things done.)

- While he may seem cold-hearted, that’s not entirely the case. While he may think that he’s superior humans for obvious reasons, this doesn’t mean he necessarily despises them. Humans have done a lot of awful things, but have also made a lot of great accomplishments. They’re very creative and wise and have made various arts and literatures, And how can a bookworm hate the authors? Many of his pastas have suggested ideas to him about a multitude of things that have surprised him and consider other options.

- He has a caseload of all the pastas. Their backstory, mental illnesses, etc. He keeps this in mind always, even adding personal notes of how they respond in certain situations and ways to modify their behaviors if need be.

- If your ever finding feelings for him, trust me, he already knew before you thought of ways to show your affection or appreciation. He’s just waiting to see what things you’ll come up with, rather he’s interested or not. Your doing tons of research on his species and general and getting into chemicals naturally in the body and how their brains and organs work. But Offender is already helping you with that because he thinks it’s funny and wondering if you can actually pull it off. Trender is in the background criticizing both of you.

Splendor:

- Splendor is the way he is because he had more attachment to his mom. The others were ridiculed and tried to be forced into the mold their father were giving them. But his father seemed to give up rather early on Splendor for being too light-hearted. This also explains his rather child-like behavior. But Slender especially was forced into the mold to become successful. That doesn’t mean he isn’t jealous or doesn’t feel guilty at times. Whenever their father does come over, while he still complains at Slender, he mostly compliments him and says to him and the others that they should have done better and that they’re an embarrassment to the family name. This has lead up to multiple family fights and Offender and Trender standing up for Splendor when it does happen.

- Despite him acting happy, he is very insecure and causes him to very poorly bottle up his emotions. He tries to do what is expected of him but it never works out. He stands out more than anything and he’ll often isolate himself.

- Splendor is more lenient on humans because of how empathetic he is. Especially with getting to know some of the pastas’ backstories, he feels deeply connected with them because of what he’s been through, and what they’ve been through are as bad if not worse than what he’s had to deal with.

- Even though he generally wears the multi-color polka dotted suit and hat, that is not all that’s in his wardrobe. Oh no. He has the flamboyant hot-pink suit, he has purple suits, red suits, suits of all colors and suits with different polka-dot patterns. Not to count the amount of props and accessories he has for the suits alone-- I’m talking stop-watch clocks and everything.

- This man is also so fucking oblivious. Compliment all you want, but if your trying to show that your actually falling for the doofus, your going to have to be WAY more flirty than that. Why do you think Offender has all these extravagant ways to embarrass him? Because what your doing didn’t work for him in the first place.

Trender:

- Remember this dude is canonically gay. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he would be the dom in the situation either. While his general attitude is very intimidating, during sexual things he’s the more submissive guy. But that doesn’t me he won’t still complain or argue about things ya’ll should. And don’t think he isn’t kinky either. Some things I imagine him saying lol:

“In that position? Really? No offense, but I thought you’d be more creative.”

“Could you maybe go a little bit faster? Seriously this is kind of embarrassing.”

“ No no NO WRONG HOLE WRONG--” (They have more than two *wink*)

Then there’s just the random thoughts during intercourse:

“Do you think Kylie Jenner ever did it like this?”

“What kind of things would you think the Kardashians are into?”

- While he’s big in fashion design and will wear extravagant clothes from time to time, he does prefer more simple and cozy styles of clothing. Sometimes he likes to sit back and relax with some coffee too, you know.

- Catches onto things that others might not. These can be things that are very obvious to things that are complex and easy to miss.

- Despite being a fashion designer, he is afraid of needles. And tattoos. Anything with needles.

Offender:

- Acts like he doesn't care. He does.

- Despite being a sex addict and alcoholic, he does try to make those close to him happy.

- Has a bunch of scratch marks from gardening.

- Has, on multiple occasions, tried to get Slender drunk or high by putting things in his coffee or food. It has also, worked on multiple occasions.

- Has had multiple relationships with the pastas. Most of them have failed.

- A male stripper

- Will try any of Trender's outfits, including feminine ones. And any sexy clothes.

I was looking through some older “threads” IYKYK…… and I saw a lot of people did similar observations as we do now, but on Chris’ relationships with Minka and Jenny. I’m reading through what took place and it’s like rinse and repeat.

Like the 2023 Celebrity Wedding list…..the biggest star on that list should have been Chris, yet he wasn’t added and the same media outlet had to create a separate article titled “Hollywood Bachelor’s We’re Sad to See Off The Market” or some crap, just to add the fact that Chris was “married”, yet all the other men listed were on the official marriage list…..EXCEPT him. Stuff like that made me go, now wait. 🤔

But reading through things that happened back 2012 and 2017……Chris has always been in mess and apparently I wasn’t fully aware of that.

Like I don’t assume him and Jenny weren’t real, but some of the same ones currently screaming how him and the “wife” are legit, treated Jenny like shit (screenshots all over google and elsewhere) Jenny trolled, tweeted awful things and I guess it’s just crazy to see the dynamic shift between people while some stuff seems the same, is all.

But the difference between Jenny/Minka vs this crap is we all could SEE Chris clearly loved or liked them very much to the point majority never assumed it was only Pr. Real relationship being used for PR at times, sure, but never just straight up PR.

Yet this current BS, screams ONLY PR!

I don’t know if Chris thought this girl was cool in the beginning but by the time this shitshow debuted it was obvious dynamics changed once they were public because he acted like he couldn’t stand her, so people screamed PR, plus the trolling and her racist friends, but to add a marriage to this is where people were like 😳 like you didn’t even propose to Jenny yet you chose this chick?!

I don’t want to sound overly invested in this man’s life, but it’s crazy to read and see various types of similarities which makes me go…..okay so Chris likes drama, has always had issues in relationships public wise which is why some believe this is legit, but what exactly is this situation because even if it’s legit, why all the orchestrated stuff plus as I mentioned before he wasn’t added to the official wedding list, various things that led to logical questions still leave us stomped. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just interesting is all.

you bring up a lot of great points that i think are worth consideration. a lot of things i've seen discussed by many fans as well. i won't pretend that people don't change, because they do. and we also change with each relationship. but making note of the stark differences in overall relationship patterns is valid.

it's also a good point to bring up that ce has always been messy. i think a lot of people forget this. the only thing i will challenge is that we don't know if he did or did not propose to jenny. we can just assume that they were never engaged.

⭐ Step into the Light, which deserves way more attention

Thanks so much for the ask! This is one of my fics I'm most proud of. :)

The fic in question: "Some scenes from Quincey Morris's and Jonathan Harker's complicated relationship, from their time in Varna to the end of the novel, told through their alternating points of view."

Spoilers ahead…

-I know that, like most of my fics, this one was inspired by a Tumblr discussion, but I can't remember who started it or exactly what it was about, other than something about being able to surmise a very interesting relationship between Quincey and Jonathan near the end of the book, culminating with Quincey dying in Jonathan's arms. There was just a lot to explore there, and the idea of doing a back-and-forth perspective switch came to mind.

-Figuring out which beats of the story would be from which perspective was a little tricky; this was one of the few fics where I created a rough outline, and some of the perspectives got shuffled one to the other in order to keep them alternating.

-I usually write in third person, but the idea of using first/second person, with Quincey and Jonathan referring to each other as "you" in their respective scenes, got stuck in my head. It gave the story such an interesting intimacy to it, showing how these events are causing their worlds to sort of revolve around each other. To lend a greater sense of immediacy, I made it present tense instead of my usual past tense.

-Writing Jonathan's scenes came fairly naturally, since I've written a lot from his perspective (albeit in third person) and my third-person voice for him isn't that different from his first-person speaking voice. 

-Quincey's scenes were much more of a challenge; I ended up drafting them in my "normal" narrative voice and then went back later to rewrite nearly every sentence, taking into consideration his speaking patterns. Although I don't know anyone from Texas very well, I drew a lot from my extended family who live in the South, trying to capture the vivid phrasing and storytelling sensibility that goes into a lot of their speech. 

-I always have a hard time coming up with titles (which is why half my fics are named things like "Two Men Talking" LOL). But I was pleased with the title from this one, alluding to the lines: "I feel you staring at us like a coyote outside the light of a campfire ring…I wish I could grab your hand the way you grabbed mine just days ago. Draw you into this ring of light, hold your hand till you know you're safe."

-I decided that I wasn't going to explicitly say whose perspective we were in during any given scene, relying on the line breaks and the different in dialect to get it across. I think I succeeded.

-My preferred headcanon of Jonathan during this time is actually a lot less bitter and standoffish, but it was interesting to explore this version of him in this fic. He's running on pure animal instinct at this point, and Quincey is (wisely) treating him as such.

-I got a bit obsessed with the dynamic of Quincey being fully aware that Jonathan would kill him if he ever tried to stake vampire Mina— and him being cool with that. They've each made their promises, and it's Quincey's job to make sure that this clash never has to happen (but to accept the consequences if it does).

-I had to throw in a lil Quincey pining over Jonathan (and vice versa) because I am a big sucker for Yeehawrker. :D

-I am still very happy with the lines, "You'd look good spattered in the blood of a fresh kill. You'd still look good, even if the blood was mine." (Foreshadowing babey)

-Had to let Jonathan have a good cry! I thought this was an important moment, too, because Jonathan being able to not only break down in front of Quincey, but accept his comfort, was a big turning point for the two of them. Live in the moment, Jonno. You got this.

-Originally Quincey's death scene was from Jonathan's perspective, which makes more sense than writing from a guy who's dead, but I actually really like that my back-and-forth formula ended with Quincey's view of his own death; I think it gives the scene an eerie, almost dreamlike feel, and nicely bookends the whole fic through Quincey's eyes. (Present tense to the rescue, too.)

-I decided to draw out Quincey's monologue a bit more, and give Jonathan a couple words, as well as tying back in the imagery of Jonathan covered in Quincey's blood. And of course, we gotta have the final image of Jonathan (metaphorically stepping) into the light, smiling in the light of the sunset. It was a nice image to end with.

I'm enjoying these Director's Commentaries a bit too much! ;) Thanks again for asking!

i drew Diana. not quite sure how i feel about it but oh well.

goth girls, y'know.

since I've made aaron's fur pattern white, i thought his goth girlfriend deserved the red and black fur pattern he had.

some other Diana hcs:

she can sing really well, but avoids it unless its for a gig. She doesn't want to wreck her voice. She has a very soft singing voice too, so thankfully it's not too much on her vocal cords 80% of the time. But you can never be too safe. She will hum along to music occasionally.

I have lore about a dog-goth style in my rewrite which Diana slowly starts getting more interested in towards the end of college, though he's more vamp-goth before that. I could get into the Dog-Goth of my rewrite but oh you don't want me to. Because then I'd have to get into the werewolf punk scene i made up in my head.

She's always been very slight, but she's trying to bulk up some muscle mass. She's also quite tall ( about 6'3) but is the smallest in her band. Since they're all werewolves. And werewolves can casually be like 6'5 and no one bats an eye at that.

He grew up with punk parents, and therefore punk ideology. They were very supportive of him, and so he had a pretty nice upbringing.

She speaks quite monotone in her day-to-day life (though her singing is quite expressive). and so her and Aaron are matchy matchy with that. Autism-bonding and all.

He does not dress up every day. He usually slaps on some eyeliner, maybe some light makeup, and leaves it at that. and just throws on a nice shirt and skirt. He's got no time to make himself look fancy if he's tryna get through college with any shred of sanity left.

She shaved the tails of her eyebrows off. which are why her eyebrow piercings are BELOW her eyebrow (which she draws on). She carries around tweezers to pluck the hair that grows back in when she's bored in her lectures. Or in a dull conversation.

He's transfem, and uses he/her pronouns. People tend to over-correct and only use she/her pronouns for him but nah. BOTH. Obviously only using one or another in a conversation is fine. But only one for like ever? Nah. Nah.

I'm dianron dirt till i die. She occasionally goes through his spotify to judge the music he has on there, or 'make it good'. She put one of her band's songs on his longest playlist and he didn't realise until a few months after they broke up. He still listens to it after because like... Di can sing, y'know.

He self-labels as Queer, sexuality-wise.

She wears platform boots to feel taller. Especially when with Aaron, since it's embarrassing to be rocking around with a human that's taller than her. (She knows he's a werewolf, she just isn't a total dickhead and lets everyone else continue thinking he's a werewolf). He's still taller.

He met Ken when he caught Ken smoking weed in their highschool bathroom. They ended up sharing and talking about cryptids for the whole next period.

Ken is also on the band. He plays drums. Diana once broke his drumsticks because he wouldn't stop hitting everyone like they were drums. She bought him new ones for his birthday because she felt bad.

Him and Blaze are cousins. Their mothers are sisters.

FAQ 🪴 empty houses

hello friends :-) i thought today wed look at empty houses, one of the most frequently misinterpreted (in my opinion at least) parts of the natal chart! for more information on the houses, take a peek at these posts (1, 2, 3, 4)

an empty house refers to a house with no planets, points or other bodies. there's a case to be made for a house never being "truly" empty, because if you add enough minor bodies and points to a chart, you'll soon fill every house. but for the purposes of this post, i'm only really looking at planets.

there can be a lot of fear around empty houses, which is unfounded but totally understandable. when we hear the word empty, we think of a lack or a loss. something lonely. but when it comes to empty houses in the birth chart, this isn't quite how it works. instead, it's more like a lack of activation. a planet activates the house, but a planet not being there doesn't mean that area of life ceases to be; it just means that the energies of the planets aren't impacting that area. so next time you look at your empty fifth or seventh house and wonder if you'll ever find love, the answer is absolutely yes, you will 🤍 an empty house just means it isn't activated right now, which still doesn't mean nothing will happen in that area of life. it often means that these areas aren't a primary focus right now, or they aren't chaotic or emotionally heavy to manage. none of these are bad things, and in fact they imply an easy time, if not a particularly exciting one.

as an example, i have an empty third house, yet i am studying a foreign language and hope to make my career from writing. my educational history is very chaotic, and my siblings were a huge part of my life growing up. it might seem a bit strange that my third house is empty in that case, but in reality, there are a lot of other placements in my chart that "make up for" this empty house. when we start looking at individual placements and assigning strict rules and judgements to them, it becomes very difficult to actually interpret your chart and see where the connections lead. taking a step back when things aren't making sense is generally a wise move, as is getting a second opinion.

more to consider when talking about empty houses are transits and progressions. as we go through life, our natal planets progress through the signs and houses, just as we progress through our experiences and grow as people. it can be helpful to think of progressions as showing how we gradually adapt to what life throws our way, while transits are more like the events themselves; or rather, how we could react and respond to those events. so an empty house is never actually empty for very long, it will be activated and travelled through many times over the course of your life, and with hindsight and a keen eye, you might see some really important experiences start to line up with major transits and progressions. to go back to my example earlier, i took a really quick look through my own transits and progressions when i was planning out this post, and found a couple of interesting patterns based around my educational history, one of which i'm hoping will continue to be a positive influence as i take my next steps. again, taking a step back and looking at things from a new angle is usually the best thing to do if you're feeling lost or overwhelmed with a placement.

i hope this post can allay any fear you might feel about your own empty houses; there really isn't anything to be afraid of, and for some people an empty house is a blessing! it's often misunderstood and misinterpreted, but i hope this can help to reassure anybody who has struggled with this; i have done myself in the past and the wondering and worrying is awful. at the end of the day, our birth charts do not dictate or rule our lives; they're a list of potentials and patterns, and it is still up to ourselves how we live out our days.

I tend to deflect when I'm feeling threatened

One random day, Spock and McCoy are beamed off the ship without warning. A few weeks later, Jim finds them but they're in very different states.

The corridors were quiet, serene and sterile. Not white, like most horror movies made it seem. But a pale yellow colour with blue benches outside each door. No one had noticed them yet, because there was no one to notice. Well, they hadn’t tried to break out their friends yet.

"Which rooms are we looking for again?" Jim asked the landing parry.

"Rooms 14, and 37, Captain." Said Chekov.

Why were they so split up? They'd been taken together so why separate them? Unless they were sorting by different criteria. He was really starting to miss Spock’s analysis.

“So any one of these then?” He asked, noticing the numbers around them.

“Actually, yes, Captain.”

They took a second to look around and spotted Room 14. There was a passcode on the door, of course there was, Spock would’ve walked out if there wasn’t one. He shrugged, not caring if an alarm was raised, and hit the panel with three blasts of his phaser. The door opened with a click. 

Kicking the door open, he saw Spock in a serene state. He wasn’t shocked. It was Spock. But he knew that despite how calm he seemed on the exterior, there was usually a storm on the inside. 

He was sat with his eyes closed, deep in meditation with his legs crossed as he sat in the middle of a white room. The bed was white, flat and basic, apart from a basic box room in the corner that he assumed a was a bathroom. As they moved into the room, he snapped his eyes opened. 

“Captain.” He said. 

No ‘is that you’? No questions. Because of course he wouldn’t. He was Spock. He’d be analysing every second of this, noticing the difference in the room, the air and the way they moved. He knew it was them.

“Mister Spock, mind if we break you out?”

“Interesting question, Captain, because your behaviour is suggesting that you weren’t giving me an option-” He said, getting up and walking toward him. 

Jim just smiled. Spock stopped mid speech and cocked his head. 

“Was that a joke?”

“Yes.”

“Oh, it was not very funny.”

Jim couldn’t be angry at all. He’d missed this, their back and forth, his days had been to quiet since he’d been beamed off last week. Bones too, they’d been taken together, randomly, with no warning. Talking of Bones. 

“You wouldn’t happen to have seen Bones, would you?”

“No, Captain, why?”

He didn’t know?

“He went missing too, beamed off the same time as you,” he walked out of the room, Spock followed. “We’ve located his pattern as being here, alongside yours.”

“Fascinating.”

They began to walk, following Chekov as he led them presumably toward Room 37. Spock was still in his uniform, his familiar haircut grown out a millimetre more and was dishevled in a way he’d never seen before. It was a little bit unsettling. 

“Do you know what all of this is about?” He said. “I assume that you have some idea with all the time you’ve had to think.”

“Indeed. I hypothesise that this is an experiment of some sort, with how controlled things were, every day was the same, there was as little input in those rooms as possible so as to not interfere with whatever they were testing for. That, I haven’t figured out yet, I have not seen the other subjects, so I cannot make an assumption on that fact.”

“Yes, we haven’t seen much else either. Does the fact that Dr McCoy was taken change anything?”

He took a second to think. They continued to walk through the corridors that were all starting to look the same when an alarm sounded. He was beginning to wonder when that was going to start. You don’t break into a place and not get chased. 

Starting into a jog, he said to Spock, “How about we continue this conversation later?”

“That would be wise Captain, I think we’re being chased.”

He looked over his shoulder and saw three armed guards all with phasers of their own running down the corridor. The yellow stained walls were turning orange from the flashing red lights. A bleeping alarm was making it hard to hear anything but he managed to speak anyway. 

“Mr Chekov, how far away are we?”

“It should be any one of these rooms, Captain!” 

With the lights flashing, and the guards getting closer in his peripheral vision, it was hard to find the room yet he found it. He threw a phaser to Spock and opened the door the same way he’d opened the other, by blasting it to pieces. But this time, he didn’t see someone serene, calm and managing in the only way they’d been taught. His stomach dropped.

The room was equally as well lit. When they walked in, the sounds from outside, the alarm, the guards, was swallowed up until they sounded distant and foggy. Bones was sat at the back wall. His hands in his hair and red rimmed eyes as he stared blankly at them.

“Bones?” He said, more softly this time. “It’s us.”

“The toe bones’ connected to the foot bone, the foot bones’ connected to the ankle bone, the ankle bones’ connected to the leg bone,” he sang under his breath, not listening to him at all it seemed. 

He stepped closer, ignoring the part of him scared of the guards approaching, who wanted to grab Bones over his shoulder and run out. But he knew better. His doctor was delicate, sensitive. 

“Bones, it’s me, Jim,” he said again, crouching down so he was in his line of vision.

“The leg bone's connected to the knee bone, the knee bone's connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone's connected to the hip bone,”

His eyes shifted from the wall behind him to Jim himself. He still didn’t stop his song. 

“The hip bone's connected to the back bone, the back bone's connected to the neck bone, the neck bone's connected to the head bone,”

“Bones, Leonard, McCoy, please, look at me, it’s me, Jim,”

He pulled a risky move and reached out to him. He didn’t move his hand away when he did. In fact, the risk payed off, he seemed to wake up. Had they done something to him? Part of their experiment? 

“Stop,” he said, his voice low and gravelly. “I know you’re not real and interacting doesn’t help anything, now if you don’t mind, I’m gonna carry on singing my song.”

Jim huffed and held his hand closer, pulling him toward him. In a fit of impulse, he used is weight to pull him off the floor. Bones didn’t look too happy. 

“Now stop it. I don’t know if they’re giving me somethin’ or my mind’s just a bit more fragile than I thought it was, but I am not letting something in my head affect me so.”

Spock stepped forward. “Doctor, in your professional opinion, can one speak to their hallucinations in this way?”

“Well, that’s a complicated question-”

“Can one speak to their hallucinations like this?”

“I guess not-”

“So, we’re real then?”

Bones deflated but smiled. Fatigue was written all over his face. There was something unhinged in his eyes. He hadn’t been meditating, that was for sure. 

“I guess, but-”

“But what?” Jim tried to pull him toward the door. The guards were approaching and he wanted to get out of here before they were all put in these cells. 

“I’ve dreamt of this Jim, I’ve seen it, this place it, it makes things all wonky, how do I know this is real?”

Jim stepped forward and placed his hand on his cheek. He smiled as Bones lent into it subconsciously. 

“That’s how.”

Bones sighed and nodded. “Let’s get going.”

He took his hand as he pulled him along. The guards were right outside the door. Chekov and a few security officers were firing their phasers with precision that only came with practice. He appreciated how it didn’t take long for them to clear the way.

Bones clung to him, his hand gripping his arm like a lifeline. The alarm was still blaring as Jim pulled out his communicator. 

“Scotty, can you beam us up?”

“Sure, Captain, have you got them?”

“Yeah, six to beam up.”

Jim felt himself being pulled. The sound of the transporter playing over the general chaos of the hallway. 

“Can you keep it down? I’ve only had silence for however long I was in there,”

There was his Bones.

This was going to be an AOS fic but I decided to change it to TOS. I think it's how I wrote Spock's speech, it just gave Leonard Nimoy vibes. Also I didn't intend for mckirk to be in there but there isn't enough tos mckirk from what i've seen. I also interpreted this as the people were just holding an experiment, whereas for the people they're experimenting on think it's torture. Thanks for reading! @whumptober-archive

Tbh i do think animals like dolphins and elephants and chimps and in some ways bonobos /do/ come close to human sapience! Now tbf this is based of my still-not-a-professional-but-a-devouted-hobbiest research so take it with a grain of salt!

But all 4 of those mentioned animals have some of the biggest examples and signs of emotional intelligence and social intelligence besides humans in the animal kingdom! And 2 to 3(chimps and dolphins are known for this and some studies have shown elephants) show /amazing/ skills in logic and reasoning tests like object permanence and pattern recognition, on top of all this all 4 animals pass the self awareness test(recognizing themselves in a mirror)

The most interesting part in my.opinion is the number of neurons and brain matter "folds" in dolphins brain, which is theorized to be our best way of telling an animals intelligent through the physical brain alone, surpass humans which is something incredibly special in natural science! (Not to be confused for brain size which can't say as much about average species intelligence, but even then dolphins have one of the largest brain to body mass of any animal)

I think, what it comes down to is if these species are as intelligent as us they still have a different set of morals than us. And if they do have the same morals as us an Animal knowing something is wrong, and /choosing/ to do it anyway is arguably and amazing example of intelligence and a level of self awareness comparable to ours

And as said by another person, even if a species /can/ do bad, that means they also have the capacity just like us to do amazingly /good/ things.

The more we learn about dolphins and chimps the more some scientists believe it's like looking into a mirror inteligance and social evolution wise, and that threatens some people both because it implies we are animals just as easily swayed by instinct and survival than any other, and it hits people that every act they see as "evil" being done by a dolphin or chimp, has been done by humans 100x more and 100x worse

Either way, dolphins aren't humans and shouldn't be judged like them and /even if/ you were to judge them like they were, you'd have to take a longer harder look and human society as well [idk if any of this makes sense but I saw an opportunity to talk about mt favorite topics in animal behavior sndjs]

Thank you for your viewpoint and insight. As an animal enthusiast I must agree that the level of intelligence and self-awareness that other animals show is very intriguing and exciting indeed! It’s what drew me to dolphins as a kid in the first place, learning about their intelligence, tool use, social behaviour, etc.. It’s interesting to see that animals that aren’t closely related to us can be so similar to us in many ways, after all! It shows you that humans can’t be separated from other animals just like that, because we’re still animals too — something I should’ve brought up more in my original post, I think. (Though animals are still not people. I don’t think I should have to say it but just in case.)

Anyway, I hope we may discover more about their perception of the world in the future! If we find out for sure that dolphins and chimps and elephants and whatnot know they’re causing harm with their harmful actions yet do them anyway… well, that’d be a bummer. But it would also show us that each good action they do is from the goodness in their hearts and I think that would be very rad indeed. We wouldn’t be the only ones anymore.

My thoughts on the amazing digital circus

its kinda "meh". Not bad by any means and good enough for me to watch later episodes but it's portrayal of mental/psychological horror is pretty shallow.

Ohhhh noooo, character that we haven't gotten to know before they entered is stuck in a McDonald's play place while all of their needs are met, whatever shall we doooooo!!!!!

Like there's no other threat than obstruction which is pretty easy to avoid since there isn't any obvious thing that would make them go crazy in the first place (besides jax) and how the "crazy" characters are portrayed doesn't seem crazy at all, not realistically or even cartoony.

There's not much to be negative about and I wish that either the environment was more dangerous or the characters start out more happy but get messed up later as the system falls apart.

I kinda like the humor (nothing with jax) and it was better than what I thought. I like the idea of ai generated and digital horror and I think the writers should lean more into that.

I like the aesthetics but sometimes their a bit too same-y or unparticular for me to feel for them.

When the teaser came out I honestly had no interest due to the character design. I've watched other gooseworx stuff and compared to tadc I prefer the character design a lot more. I think it's caine, ragatha, and pomni that didn't really do much for me.

They don't look very distinct design wise but their animation is REALLY expressive and I wish their designs fit both their personalities as well as variations of the toys that inspired them. A lot of kids stuff had patches, spots and swirls on them but it's probably too late for me to suggest design stuff.

Anyways here's my thoughts on the characters:

Jax: my least favorite, is an asshole for no reason in a supposed "dire" situation. I have to deal with and avoid these kinds of disrespect and needlessly rude people irl constantly. He has 0 redeeming qualities that make him funny or loveable besides his design.

I'd like to see him a bit more unhinged or nonchalant about what he does, but that's just how I personally like mean spirited humor.

gangle: a bit forgettable but a sweetheart overall, maybe a bit more mood shifts or dramaticness needed. As for her design (hypothetical I know it won't be changed this late into production) I'd like to see a bit more detail, as pocelain dolls, old Greek play masks, and even masquerades had more detail. Doesn't need to be too complicated. Maybe black ribbon as well?

Zooble: the best character and is just done with everything. I feel like I'd like Jax more if their traits were mix but this isn't about him.

I like her design especially because of the variety of shapes and colors.

Pomni: her personality is anxiety. That's it. I think her design is pretty meh as she doesn't resemble Jack in the box jesters or even toy jesters you see for sale. No makeup, no funny nose, even her costume seems kinda empty, and the patterns kinda blur together.

I don't get why people simp for her so much.

ragatha: also not too interesting. I kinda like her personality but her gestures feel hallow as well. If there's nothing bad going on she'd probably just be normal happy instead of fake happy or maybe even concerned for her abstracted friends, but the lack of a threat (other than abstraction) makes her backhanded feel weird and unneeded, like is she trying to make people paranoid????

Also she looks really plasticy. I know that it's supposed to take place in a video game but I feel like she'd at least have more textures to indicate what she is. I'd also recommend adding some flowers or more soft items for her, since it'd compliment her personality more.

Kinger: best boi but I feel like there could be more done with him. He just seems like a normal guy with ADHD and anxiety rather than someone who's gone through so much that he's lost himself or a cartoonist crazy person. But honestly that's not much of a problem for me, the surprise was a welcome one.

His design is neat and is something that I haven't seen done before.

Caine: I like that he's not obviously sinister and is just a confused robot trying to meet the needs of the players but fails in one way or another. I kinda wish he gave of more of the blank vibes(??) Of being a robot and that his design maybe had some different colors or even was a different kind of suit/outfit but overall he's pretty good.

Bubble: the the the they the the the the thetyetgeht the the the

Overall I'd give this show a 6/10 or a 7/10, not too bad but more could be done.
