i said a while ago i wanted to read dan and phil's astrology charts, so here is Dan's!

disclaimer: ive studied astrology for 10 years and this is just what i read and interpret his chart as. astrology is fun and this is not to be taken seriously....this is all my interpretation and opinion!

Dan's big three: Gemini sun, Gemini moon, Cancer rising.

this truly is an individual quick to love and hate. he is reluctantly ruled by emotions, but also with swift wit, making him seem impulsive with his words. he needs connection above all else.

his emotions are erratic and quick, he may be moody or move on either too quickly, or never. he is hard to pin down emotionally, because his emotions rule him, than the other way around. he is quick witted, funny, anxious, and intellectual. has a hard time verbalizing emotions, especially having his sun, moon, and mercury in the 12th house, which internalizes everything. he needs an outlet for those emotions because it's all zooming around in his head CONSTANTLY, his mind never quiets. may like to write his feelings, rather than speak them

he uses humor to cover his emotions up, and it might be hard to get closer to him unless he lets down that barrier.

cancer rising is like a big uncovered nerve....very sensitive. they go through life sensitively and are in tune with others around them, which can exhaust them. they are always trying to make sure everyone is happy and sometimes neglect that for themselves. they also are known for having a baby face! they are warm and protective of others, and loyalty means everything to them.

his Venus and Mars in Leo....... Loves attention. He fucking craves it. he is also quick and impulsive with emotions but feels a deep sense of pride. he gets embarrassed easily and nothing makes him angrier than feeling embarrassed or like his character/pride is being attacked. he is fiercely loyal and is definitely the jealous type. will stand up for his loved ones. his love language may be words of affirmation/compliments!

the Gemini mixed with the Leo...he loves to talk. he is very loud lol. an energetic warrior ;) but only behind closed doors, because he wants to control the image he portrays to others intensely. he's all about image, he's very calculated when it comes to that. he wants people to only see what he wants them to see, he loves to put on a show. a big entertainer.

his second house is with his mars, Venus, and Jupiter. the second is the house of material possessions, ruled by Taurus (Venus). he loves fashion, money, and it's a core need for him to be able to buy whatever he wants. he has an innate eye for design. he is particular about this, and can seem controlling over these things. Jupiter expands so he has luck in this area, of beauty, money, and material possessions, and security through these things is a big thing for him.

this cheeky fucker....Has Uranus and Neptune in the 7th house. wherever Uranus is, it's unconventional and rebellious. where Neptune is, it's naive and idealistic. the 7th house is relationships.... Pointing to the fact that he has an ambiguous relationship with someone who people speculate about because it confuses them 👀 he hates to be tied down and can be rebellious against traditional relationships. mix this with the idealistic, hopelessly romantic Neptune, and you have a big confusing feeling inside you where the two wolves are always fighting. he wants a soulmate and believes deeply in love, but hates that part of him and thinks it's corny and useless.

his 7th is also in Capricorn, which is hilarious because it is typical for this placement to seek older partners (lol), and to seek someone with Capricorn qualities, who seems established, controlled, and mature. this also indicates luck in business partnerships. he sees relationships as hard work, dedication, and responsibility.

he has Pluto in the 5th house, and pluto is the death and rebirth of that area. the 5th house is hobbies, games, romance/dating, sports, creativity, etc. he has crashed and burned in this area multiple times, and these are areas of intense passion for him...he obsesses over romance, he comes across intense. he longs for that connection. his creativity is hard for him to control, creative blocks may be intense, but he has so many ideas all the time and will stop at nothing to bring them to fruition. also indicates someone who has many talents in many areas, and has a hard time choosing just one.

overarching themes of his chart: he craves romance and connection, he can be a bit naive in that area, but he hates tradition and commitment and struggles a lot with those two parts of himself. he is attracted to powerful, strong, and caring types. he is jealous and protective and craves loyalty, as he himself is loyal. he is loud and creative and fun, and he controls his image well. he holds a lot of himself inside and his inner mind is always moving and growing. he is witty and uses humor to connect but also to shield. he is intense and serious, but hides that behind an entertaining exterior.

Here’s my personal interpretation of Dipper in my “The Summer Project” AU (loosely based off @urdadsceilingfan’s Reverse Portal AU)

Now this post is LONG overdue. As I’ve scoured the few posts I’ve made about my Summer Project AU, I noticed I unintentionally antagonized Dipper as this bad brother who’s too much of a wimp to protect his sister 😭 So I’m gonna try to shed some light on him, not to excuse his actions, but to simply show his side of the story.

Dipper had a rough childhood. He always had his twin sister, Mabel, but besides that, everyone was so mean to him. Some kids could stomach Mabel’s fun-loving personality but when it came to him, he was just some stupid nerd. He wasn’t happy with his life. That was until he met the Book Club. Other nerds who had the same interests as him, weirdos who loved the things that people would laugh at him about. And they weren’t shy like Dipper, they were proud of who they were and that inspired Dipper to join them. He tagged Mabel along and everything seemed great. But as Dipper grew older, his relationship with his sister began to change. This was due to the Book Club not being as friendly to Mabel as they were to him. It’s as if their status in school has changed. Now his sister was the weird outcast and he was the lovable dork. His heart ached for his best friend, but at the same time…it felt so good not to be the laughingstock for once. Whenever one of his friends would tease and openly bully Mabel, he’d get this tight feeling in his chest. His heart would beat loudly like thunder, and his breathing would quicken. In moments like those, he’d squeeze Mabel’s hand to provide some sort of comfort. For her, of course! If she was far away, he’d squeeze his own hand.

As summer was around the corner, he and his sister started getting into fights over the Book Club. Dipper was put in a rough position. Should he choose the people who made him feel wanted, or the person who made him feel loved? He didn’t get the chance to fully think this through, as his parents told him they were shipping he and Mabel off to Gravity Falls to stay with their Grunkle Ford. The night before they went on that bus, he overheard a conversation between his parents. A conversation he wasn’t supposed to hear. They were getting a divorce. He and Mabel could be separated. He couldn’t bear the thought of a life without his sister. Dipper didn’t get a lot of sleep that night, which resulted in him having an awful migraine the first day they stayed at Grunkle Ford’s museum. At night, Mabel brought him a cold glass of water and some pills she found in a cabinet. Dipper took the pills and drank the water. Big fat tears streamed down his face and he begged Mabel to stay by his side until he fell asleep. He squeezed her hand so tight it might’ve cut off her circulation. She sung a lullaby to help him sleep. The next day, he told her he cried because of how painful the migraine was. That was a lie.

The rest of the summer from then on was amazing. From crushing on that pretty lumberjack girl Wendy, solving mysteries with his sister, and growing close with his great uncle Ford, everything was great! Dipper never thought he’d see the day that he would be truly happy. He hoped the rest of the summer would be as great as this.

But then “Not What She Seems” rolls around. Dipper and Ford find out that Mabel is hiding something. She’s trying to bring back this weird demon guy named Bill Cipher. His great uncle Ford claimed the thing to be his biggest enemy. By the way he described their past, Dipper assumed Bill to be some crazy ex (but he’d never tell Ford that). He and Ford confront Mabel and she breaks down into tears. There’s that feeling again. The one that gnaws at his chest. The tightness. The pounding heart. The hyperventilating. No matter how hard he squeezes his own hand, the feeling doesn’t go away. Suddenly, he’s in the air and in front of him is the shutdown button for the portal. Ford begs him to turn it off. Mabel doesn’t try to defend herself, she just won’t stop crying. He can’t move. Why can’t he move? His ears ring. The only sound he can hear is the loud whirring of the portal. His chest feels WAY too tight, as if his lungs were collapsing in on itself. He can’t breathe. He can’t breathe. He can’t breathe. He can’t br-

Suddenly, he’s blasted away as the portal activates and he hits the floor with a loud thump. Pain spreads from his spine up to his head. He wakes up surrounded by a pool of something wet…he realizes it’s blood. His own blood. Dipper panics and pulls himself up, probing a big wound on the back of his head with his hands. Ford runs to him and inspects the wound, his eyes filled with concern and care. Then there’s some footsteps. Dipper and Ford whip their heads towards the sound. Dipper thinks it’s Mabel. It’s not.

so when Jamil pulled him aside and asked him to just buy another bed for ramshackle, he ignored him entirely

why would he do that? the situation is resolved, and everyone's happy!

well... not everyone, but Kalim's happy!

he stocks up on Vil-approved snacks, insists you two braid each other's hair and stay up late into the night talking with no one to remind you to go to sleep

(he tried to invite Jamil and got the door slammed in his face)

this arrangement lasts approximately one night

he's a light sleeper, and can be stirred by any sudden noise or movement

you appeared to be having some kind of nightmare

it reminds him of a small animal caught in a trap, struggling for its life. he can't bear to see it- it's cruel to let a poor creature go on suffering before you can make the kill

of course, instead of killing you (thank the sevens), he decides to comfort you

he presses your head against his chest so you can hear his heartbeat, and he runs his fingers through your hair until you calm down.

then he keeps you there, just to be sure you don't have another bad dream

if you gave him permission, he would gladly be all over you in seconds. kissing up and down your shoulders, caressing every perfect inch of your body, whispering words of admiration

but he's perfectly content just cradling you for now

hopefully, you will continue to have these nightmares and give him excuses to do this again

but the way he's holding you, the way his arms are so tightly wrapped around your waist, the way he's so clearly pressing you against him...

he hates to admit it, but you're an elegant sleeper. it's almost cute

the tension is relieved from your face, your breathing graceful and steady, and your perfect lips open just a sliver...

he is a perfect gentleman, and would never dream of doing anything without your explicit permission, but for one shameful second he thinks about how easy it would be to kiss you

... and then he quickly puts those thoughts aside and tries to get back to sleep

I will never full-on slander Earthspark.

Yes, I know S2 and "S3" writers are different (I'm always for Marty Isenberg though that was a neat surprise) AND the animation went downhill with a new studio (no hate to any workers) but it is not the worst show like I've seen people say it is ever since S1 finished. It's not "ruined", maybe lost potential but not flat out "RUINED FOREVER".

A few episodes in these last two batches were kinda "huh" BUT, I personally really enjoyed them, ESPECIALLY this last batch. Good amount of action, comedy and character interactions.

Imo, Earthspark doesn't SUCK. It is not "ruined". Circumstances may have affected the production quality, but I don't think it needs "saving" the way people think.

I do criticise the "batches" format and I will always criticise Paramount's shit advertising and Hasbro's lack of care and toy distribution. Hasbro hates money after all.

And I'm saying this as a Starscream fan? I bloody love Earthspark and the plot S2+S3 gave us.

(Even if he is a total bitch ala Starscream, I am a little concerned for him. But this is not the Starscream show, it's the Malto show!!)

Seeing @thydungeongal constantly wrestling with people interpreting her posts about D&D in ways that seem completely alien to me has convinced me that there are actually multiple completely distinct activities both being referred to as "playing D&D" Before we begin, I want to stress that I'm not saying one of these groups is Playing The Game Wrong or anything, but there seems to be a lot of confusion and conflict caused by people not being aware of the distinction. In fact, either one works just fine if everyone's on the same page. So far, I think I've identified at least two main groups. And nobody seems to realize the distinction between these groups even exists. The first group of people think of "Playing D&D" as, well, more or less like any other board game. Players read the whole rulebook all the way through, all the players follow the instructions, and the gameplay experience is determined by what the rules tell each player to do. This group thinks of the mechanics as, not exactly the *whole* game, but certainly the fundamental skeleton that everything else is built on top of. People in the second group think of "Playing D&D" as referring to, hanging out with their friends, collaboratively telling a story inspired by some of the elements in the rulebooks, maybe rolling some dice to see what happens when they can't decide. This group thinks of the mechanics of the game as, like... a spice to sprinkle on top of the story to mix things up. (if you belong to this second group, and think I'm explaining it poorly, please let me know, because I'm kind of piecing things together from other people saying things I don't understand and trying to reverse engineer how they seem to be approaching things.) I think this confusion is exacerbated by the fact that Wizards of the Coast markets D&D as if these are the same thing. They emphatically are not. the specific rules laid out of the D&D rulebooks actually direct players to tell a very specific kind of story. You can tell other stories if you ignore those rules (which still counts as "playing D&D" under the second definition, but doesn't under the first)And I think people in both groups are getting mad because they assume that everyone is also using their definition. B: "D&D is really not built for that, you should play [other TTRPG] that's designed for it instead" A: "But I don't want to learn a whole new game system!" A: "whatever, I'll just mod D&D on my own" And I think where this argument comes from is the two groups described above completely talking past each other. No one understands what the other person is trying to say. From A's perspective, as a person in the second group, it sounds like A: "Anyone have some fun inspirations for telling stories about [insert theme here]?" B: "You can't sit around a table with your friends and tell a story about that theme! That's illegal." A: "But we want to tell a story about this theme!" B: "It's literally impossible to do that and you're a dumb idiot baby for even thinking about it." A: "whatever, jerk, I'll figure it out on my own."

--- Whereas, from B's perspective, the conversation sounds like A: "How do I change the rules of poker to be chess, and not be poker?" B: "uhhh, just play chess?" A: "But I already know how to player poker! I want to play poker, but also have it be chess!" B: "what the hell are you talking about? What does that even mean. They're completely different games." A: "I'm going to frankenstein these rules together into some kind of unplayably complex monster and you can't stop me!" ---

So both people end up coming away from the conversation thinking the other person is an idiot. And really, depending on how you concieve of what it means to "play D&D" what is being asked changes considerably. If you're only planning to look through the books for cool story inspiration, maybe borrow a cool little self contained sub-system here or there, then yeah, it's very possible to steal inspiration for your collaborative story from basically anywhere. Maybe some genres are kind of an awkward fit together, but you can make anything work with a little creativity.

If, however, you are thinking of the question in terms of frankensteining two entire board games together, then it becomes a massively difficult or even outright nonsensical idea. For example, for skill checks, the game Shadowrun has players roll a pool of several d6 at once, then count up how many rolled above a target value to see how well a character succeeded at a task. The whole game is full of specific rules about adding or removing dice from the pool, effects happening if you roll doubles, rerolling only some of the dice, and all sorts of other things that simply do not translate to rolling a single d20 for skill checks. On a basic level, the rules of the games work very differently. Trying to make them compatible would be much harder than just learning a new game from scratch. Now, neither of these approaches is exactly *wrong*, I guess, but personally, I find the rules of TTRPGs to be fascinating and worth taking the time to engage with all the weird little nuances and seeing what shakes out. Also, the first group, "TTRPG as fancy board game" is definitely the older and more widespread one. I kind of get the impression that the second group largely got into D&D through actual play podcasts, but I don't have any actual data to back that up. So, if you're in the second group, who thinks of D&D as basically a context for collaborative storytelling first and a game second, please let me know if I'm wildly misunderstanding how you approach D&D. Because I'm pretty sure it would save us a whole lot of stupid misunderstandings.

Okay so, one of my problems with creator boundaries as an event runner is that it's impossible to keep up with them all, because they're being updated, and because so much of the time you learn them when they're reported to you, you weren't in stream yourself. So it's a game of telephone, and there's a constant issue that the message gets garbled in translation.

So the stance that I've taken as an event runner is that I will not be enforcing boundaries, and everyone can decide for themselves what relationships they're comfortable with. This seemed like the best stance for me to deal with the beeduo /p /r wars, and then I have continued to see many other smaller or larger instances where I've gone "yeah, enforcing creators boundaries as an event mod is a nonstarter, I'm sticking with that".

And I've been mostly concerned about issues like— I am not an avid watcher of Gem streams! I might miss things that happen in Gem streams, I don't know what the creator's exact boundaries are for what's okay to do in her vision. But meanwhile I've been over here in Phil streams, and I've assumed that I have known Phil's boundaries, because they get repeated SO MUCH. Everybody knows— no nsfw, and then we argue about if the only shipping allowed is with Mumza (the dsmp stance) or if his continued gay flirting with men on QSMP means he's okay with shipping with them (he kissed a man on camera on QSMP, for example).
