The menus don't work, the menus don't work, the menus DON'T WORK...

OK, my few readers. I took a break, I went back to fix the navigation, it's unfixable as-written.

I need some complex stuff in places, I was willing to forgive WP for putting out a new site editing interface that barely works - as long as it has the basic features someone would use on a storefront. I'm an outlier. I know this.

BUT IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO CREATE A MENU WITH A WORKING SUB-MENU IN IT. IF YOU TRY, THE SUB-MENU LINKS ARE UNCLICKABLE.

I am using their site editor and their 2024 theme, I should say.

I crossed my fingers and looked for the (now liable to vanish from anything more complicated than a paragraph) "edit as html" option. Nope! It's gone! I can't fix it. I would have to hack the interface somehow to fix this for WordPress, within WordPress.

I had to go looking for plugins. I HAD TO GO LOOKING FOR 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE TO GET A FUNCTIONAL MENU. And, of course, they paywall features I need. I found a "floating" menu that actually does work well enough (it's a little cramped on mobile unless you put the screen in landscape mode, but at this point you should really do that anyway, I can only format so much) but the sub-menu function is paywalled. And I'm actually fucking tempted to buy (haha, I mean "rent") it. Because the damn thing works in dark mode and across devices. And it sticks to the side in a fairly unobtrusive way, which WP's menu will not. It won't stick anywhere. And it sure as hell won't do that thing where you scroll up and it plops down for your convenience.

But if I use that floating menu without sub-menus, it's gonna get longer, and longer, and longer, until it doesn't fit on your mobile screen anymore, or potentially your tablet or desktop, and then I dunno what happens. Also, in order to keep it small, everything is a cryptic icon that displays a title when you tap it (on mobile) or hover over it (on desktop). That's kinda counterintuitive, I don't know if I want my one working menu to be like that.

I might keep looking and find another plugin that also works that well but... it's not likely. Or, if I do, I may run into another paywall. They gotta get their rent somehow!

This is a stupid problem and so far I am unable to come with with a non-stupid solution. I can:

Put all the links in the header menu, and you'll have to scroll through EVERYTHING to find the actual content every time.

Put all the links in the content area, in different places and different combinations depending on the page. (And this would mean doing some reformatting on every instalment AGAIN.)

Start fucking around with the sidebar - I don't know if it works and I'd have to rip up every template I've already made to add it.

Put all the links in the footer menu, and nobody will notice them.

Put all the links in the floating menu (see above for the issues with that).

Make sub-pages for Misc/Notes and similar that are just lists of links and serve the function of a sub-menu.

Actually put the content on the sub-page and have it navigable via anchors (this seems like it would be a bitch to load, but most of my content is just text).

Make a list of links that isn't actually tagged as a menu, thus losing the collapsible function for small screens.

Kill God.

That last one is probably the most doable but I feel like someone would get mad at me. Like, Hazbin Hotel finally got its first season on Amazon, and if God dies they might have to rewrite some shit.

If I don't lay out the money for the cryptic icon menu, we're probably going to end up with three or four accordions that are not technically menus at the top of every page. And I'll hafta check back every once in a while to see if WP fixed their shit yet.

If they don't stick with that site editor and make it useable, all this work is going to vanish like chalk marks in the rain.

I WANTED to put up another six-pack in February. I have it ready to go! But the site doesn't work. If I can't fix it this week, I won't even be able to put things up without illustrations. And forget having time to fill in the missing artwork. I got enough to do trying to kill God!

I just happen to think about fanservice or acting it out for the camera a lot lately. I'm going to unfollow the jikook tags most probably after this, too much mess in my head. But I just wanted to share this and maybe seek an opinion.

Many say that jikook is fanservice but many also say that if it's fanservice then they should be given Oscar. But again many say that they are the worst at acting and that's when we get obvious jikook moments.

So my question is if they are bad at acting and controlling their emotions, how are they able to act platonic 90% of the time, if they are couple? It's just the 10% we see as suspicious couple moments.

The question itself is like an infinity loop in my head...

Jikook-bad at acting-hence couple vibes/flirting.

Jikook-good at acting-hence fanservice and nothing to see there.

I'm doubting myself at the moment for joining BTS fandom this year. The stuff on internet is too too much. I want to be less exposed to their personal lives (bombs, behind scenes, memories...) and be only exposed to their music (like 1D or Taylor Swift). In fact I never even knew Larry was a thing until I came to know about BTS ships. Possibly because I was younger during one direction time and I didn't explore much. Taylor and Harry thing I knew but again I didn't research much or follow blogs the way I am doing for jikook 😂

Ah I'm going crazy... Anyway if this makes sense, please do let me know your thoughts on "acting" thing. You can edit out the mention of other artists if that's against your blog guidelines.

Hello. You sound stressed. Take a few deep breathes and relax. To start, don't get so overly invested that you cause yourself any type of mental strain or stress or anxiety. Remember that the relationship we have with BTS is a parasocial one. They don't technically owe us anything. If it would be best for your mental health to take some steps back and only focus on their music, do so! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you ever just need to talk, we are here for you! 💜 there is a lot of content as well as a lot of music out there, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by it all.

Second, I would advise you as well to follow through on the plan unfollowing all of the jikook tags or any others. Curating your timeline, either here or Twitter or any SM sites is so important. There are literally millions of fans in this fandom and there is a very loud and very toxic minority. Follow the accounts you like and that you trust and that puts out good content and remains respectful in their opinions. The only tags on here that I follow are ones for my favorite book series, that way my home page is only the people I follow popping up or book quotes/art. And on Twitter, I follow the tags for the artists and that's it. My timeline is curated pretty well to people who I want to see on there.

Third, BTS do not really do fanservice. They used to in the very early years, but not any more. They really do pride themselves on showing ARMY true and genuine interactions and genuine emotion and how they truly feel. It's important to them and it's part of what makes them so special with all the extra content they share. Dismissing their bonds (any of them) as fanservice is truly very disrespectful and i wouldn't pay much attention to the people who try to say that BTS are acting when they do things together. I would recommend you read my posts about BTS & Fanservice from my masterlist to get more detailed information about that. Yes. Jimin is for sure the worst actor in the group. Jungkook isn't much better. So, no, they aren't acting. I will also say that i disagree that they act platonic 90% of the time. But I'll also say that they don't act LOUD all the time, which is what can be mistaken for platonic. I don't know how old you are or what your relationship experience looks like. You talking about One Direction and being too young makes me feel old and I'm still young dammit. I was in high-school during the big 1D craze. I didn't get into them too much, but I did enjoy some of their songs. Besides the point. Relationships are not over the top loud declarations of love 24/7. Not even half the time. Especially not when you are with a bunch of other people, which is where we usually see Jikook, surrounded by their friends and their Staff. And even then, they sometimes very much so come off as THAT couple that can't stop making everyone else feel like they are third wheeling.

To put into perspective, lets make it personal. I've known my husband for 11 years (similar to the time frame KM have known each other.) We met and became best friends when I was 15 (close to the same age JK was). We were best friends for 2 years, before we had our first kiss at 17 (similar to the whole friends to Lovers thing KM supposedly have going on). It took another 6 months after that for him to ask me to his girlfriend, of which we made out those entire 6 months and went on "dates" and none of our friends even suspected that things changed between us until we told them we were together and confessed to have been figuring things out for the past few months. We then got married at 19 years old. We have now been married for 6 years. We are ANYTHING but platonic. Platonic moments does not negate all the none platonic moments. Lovers CAN be best friends and have simple best friend moments too. In fact, I would say that having your lover also be your best friend would make that relationship stronger and give you a much firmer foundation to grow upon. I cannot tell you the amount of silliness and just friends things my husband and I do. Doesn't change the fact that I'm so in love with him I don't know what to do with myself sometimes. Silliness over what anime to watch next or shouting matches of "you suck, you lose" whenever someone wins whichever stupid bet we placed or the race that was suggested doesn't change the fact that we enjoy each other in very non platonic ways. Him playing video games in the other room and me sitting here typing up a blog post while listening to music and us having no interaction for the past few hours doesn't negate our marriage.

Silly dances and Goofing off just continues to show their close bond, the way they have fun together. It's not acting or hiding their feelings, it's still all there. Being in love doesn't mean you are constantly melting into a puddle or trying trying cop a feel. Lol sometimes it means having fun with your best friend. Sometimes it means having fun separately with your other friends or doing your own thing and coming back together later at home and getting to talk about it or relax. And the best friend moments don't take away from the romantic ones or all the SK couples traditions they have done together, if anything, they add to it.

Okay to be clear I am getting nothing out of this, the seller doesn't know I'm making this post, this is purely me gushing about awesome customer service for an awesome product.

So when the fire happened (almost 2 years ago it does NOT feel that long) one of the things I lost was my collection of playing cards. I cried over these ones specifically. I backed the Kickstarter (technically my FiL bought them as a gift for me but it was all on my accounts) waaaaaaaaaaay back in the before times in the far distant good old days of 2014 and got two packs. I kept one sealed (for collector points or maybe in case the others got damaged lol) and opened the other and instantly fell in love with them. They are GORGEOUS and they feel AMAZING and they were hands down my favourite cards ever. I had them sitting on my desk next to my computer and I would sometimes shuffle them while waiting for things to load just because they felt that nice. I still reach for them sometimes.

About a year ago I set up an ebay search alert for them. I wanted them back and my only chance (I thought) was to grab them quickly if a fellow collector put them up for sale. No hits. Not even one. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I thought fuck it, let's try a hail mary, can't be any worse than a "sorry they're gone", right? So I go and message the seller on the original KS campaign. They haven't had any campaigns recently so chances are it's a dead account, so okay maybe the best I can hope for is silence but I have to try.

15 minutes later I get a reply. "Sorry you went through that, I still have a few unsold packs though. Let me go put them up on Etsy". Half an hour after that I get another response which includes the above link along with "I'm just looking to have shipping costs covered, you don't have to pay for the cards".

Two packs just arrived in the mail and I'm crying. I thought they were gone. I feel like a complete idiot, crying over playing cards, but they represent something that feels like getting my life back finally.

If you like playing cards, nice art, or just generally gothy things, do everyone involved a favour and grab yourself a pack. They are SO worth it.

Getting more than a little bit sick of people not understanding even the slightest nuance.

Queer/Dyke/Fag/Homo have historically been and are still sometimes, often even, used as derogatory slurs. So have all the other words we use for ourselves.

THAT'S BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO WANT US TO STOP EXISTING SEE ANYTHING THAT DESCRIBES US AS AN INSULT SO THAT'S HOW THEY USE IT.

EVERY WORD WE COME UP WITH TO DESCRIBE OURSELVES WILL BECOME A SLUR AS LONG AS BIGOTS GET TO DICTATE LANGUAGE USE.

Learn to read fucking context clues and STOP ATTACKING PEOPLE WHO ARE USING THOSE WORDS AS DESCRIPTORS FOR THE RELEVANT EXPERIENCES. All you do when you ONLY police people who are using those words as something other than a personal attack is HELPING THE BIGOTS WIN. You are doing the work of the enemy! BIGOTS ARE OUR ENEMIES, NOT PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO TALK ABOUT QUEER EXPERIENCES AS BEING QUEER.

I am SO over this bullshit.

Is the person you're having a go at using our words as a personal attack? Let's look at some examples:

"I'm taking Queer History this semester" - if you think there is a slur in this sentence you need a much stronger reading comprehension lesson than I'm about to give you.

"WE'RE HERE. WE'RE QUEER. GET USED TO IT" - YES I AM THAT THING YOU TRIED TO CALL ME AS AN INSULT AND I'M NOT INSULTED BY IT WHAT ELSE YOU GOT?

"I hope someone fag-drags you you gross fucking dyke" - This statement in itself being said to an individual is legally a hate crime in many countries

"You're just a fucking queer fag go suck a cock" - I need more context because there is FUCKING NUANCE HERE AND INTENT MATTERS. I've said this to a grumpy gay friend who just needed to go get laid before and in that context it was loving advice (and his mood improved SO MUCH because I was right, as I often am), but I can see how it could be used in a derogatory way.

My #1 post of 2022

My kid works at the lotto booth in a supermarket that happens to be a favourite of boomers and upper-middle class white people - the kind of people we've been seeing at anti-listening-to-doctors protests around here. He gets at least 3-4 people per shift going off at him for wearing a mask and I've been trying to convince him to quit for a while now. Last week some dude spat at him.

It's probably unrelated but we've both tested positive for covid in the last 72 hours. We're triple vaxxed. He seems to be getting off lucky, nothing more than a stuffy nose which is good. I, however, would like to die now please. I have a fever and have been shivering so hard I think I've pulled a muscle in my chest. I'm really hoping it doesn't get worse. Like I don't need a hospital but I'm really hoping it stays that way.

Also, someone in the house has a surgery booked on Friday and they've already taken 6 weeks off work for recovering. Fingers crossed for that person not testing positive.

If you're an antivaxxer, fuck you. This is absolutely your fault.

In Your Eyes- Ch.2 At the ice cream shop

pairing: tasm!peter parker x og character

tags: filler, angsty things, fluff (more this time, give me a min. getting the hang of the story lmaooo), swearing (once), cute lonely people, mentions of a fake relationship. if you're uncomfortable with any of these, don't read.

summary: Maite was working on a typical day of the week when she finally comes face to face with Peter Parker

Author's note: again didn't edit as much. Here is chapter 2! I think I have an idea of how and where I want the story to go now! As always, let me know what you think. PG-13!

"Where is he again?" Harry asked the redhead in front of him.

Maite was working at the Coffee Bean today. She noticed that Peter wasn't around. Her hands had grabbed a towel and were currently cleaning unoccupied tables. She was near the two people whom Peter had shared that were his friends. Well, if Maite remembered, he had stated that Harry was his best friend -- which left her questioning who the redhead was.

"You know who he is, sometimes he's here and sometimes he's not... most times. Probably off skateboarding," the redhead continued.

"I guess you're right Whitney." Harry responded.

It had been two weeks since her study session with Peter. During those two weeks, Maite found herself thinking about him often. She couldn't help it, the guy was charming, intelligent, and kind. It didn't help that he was attractive-- like really attractive. The brunette noticed this one day during their lecture class. She saw how the couple of girls that were in the same class whispered amongst themselves and kept looking over at him. IT was high school all over again. Maite only rolled her eyes and continued to take notes.

They weren't wrong though.

Peter Parker was a very good looking guy. Was it the big brown doe eyes? Or the fact that his hair was always messy? Or the height difference? What about the rumble of his vocal chords when he spoke?

"Don't you notice how he's gone most of the time?" Whitney questioned.

"Um. No. I'm not the Peter Parker police." Harry dismissively said.

Maite held a laugh.

There was no more conversation that she could hear after that since she went to a different part of the café to clean other unassisted tables. Her shift was almost over and she was very thankful for it-- today had been a long day.

"Maite, once you're done you can go home. I'll clock you out. You've been working really hard. Might need you to become a manager soon," Chloe stated.

"Really? The extra pay would be awesome." Maite responded.

Medical bills weren't cheap. Her dad was holding on through somehow. He had been having better days which in turn calmed her mother down. The house was so far so good right now. When her father had a fit, all hell broke loose. Maite often wondered why she had to be the one to calm things down when she was technically still the child.

"Really. It would also mean that you'd work just about the same, but don't have to do the little things. Unless you want to." Chloe chuckled.

"Things keep me busy. I don't mind." Maite responded with a smile. It was true, and lately they were keeping her from thinking about a certain skateboarder.

"I'm going to talk to our boss tomorrow so I can refer you. The schedule won't change except you might have to come in some mornings... is that okay?"

"I'm sure if you let me know, I can work around it."

Mornings meant classes, mornings meant sometimes (very rarely) skipping class because dad was having one of his moments. Maite saw this as a good sign though and immediately accepted.

The brunette put up her apron. There was a vibration from her phone which let her know that she had gotten a notification. She took out her phone and saw that it was her test grade from the Biochemistry class.

Nerves were getting the best of her, however, she scanned over the application and clicked on the latest grade. Her heart was thundering in her chest as she looked at her grade.

The brown-haired girl let out a squeal and threw her phone on the ground. She couldn't believe it. His strategy had worked. Granted, she killed herself with an all nighter two days before, but still.

"Everything okay Maite?" Chloe queried while handing her phone back.

"Ye-yeah. Just. Look at this." Maite responded shoving the phone to her boss.

"90? Isn't this the class that you've been struggling with? That's amazing. What changed?" Chloe asked raising a brow.

"Peter Parker..." Maite said while waving her hand as if nothing.

Chloe looked at her and then let out a laugh, "You like him."

Maite's cheek burned with crimson. Her heart skipped a beat. Was she that much of an open book?

"I mean. No? I've only met him twice?"

"Doesn't mean you can't like him... awww, Maite has a crush.."

"Oh hush."

"Hey. It's okay. Dude's hot." Chloe nodded, "For a nerdy, loner, skateboarder, dude is very hot."

Maite let out a sigh while blowing her hair out of her face.

"So the fact that you're not saying anything confirms my suspicions! Go out and celebrate... that's a big accomplishment." Chloe suggested while handing her phone back.

Maite placed her phone in her back pocket while picking up her backpack and coat. She was getting her hair out of the neck when she heard a ding. Her eyes peered over to see who it was and of course, it had to be the person that they just started talking about. His hair looked like last time they studied together, sticking out in more placed than one and a little more disheveled than ." She glanced away. "I don't know. I'll think about it."

Maite buttoned up her jacket and swung her backpack over her shoulder. Her feet carried her all the way to the door.

"Parker. Finally. Thanks for gracing us with your presence." Whitney said loudly while laughing.

"Sorry guys got caught up with May. You know how she is." Maite heard him say while placing her hand on the handle.

Maite wanted to hear the rest of the conversation, but she knew she shouldn't. She held on for a second longer, "Oh look. Peter's crush is leaving." Harry stated.

"Shut up." Maite heard Peter mumbling.

"You don't think I don't notice? One of the main reasons you come here is to see her... I'm not stupid."

"Shut up, Osborne." Peter responded.

Maite's cheeks flushed as she opened the door to walk through it. She welcomed the cool autumn air on her cheeks. There was absolutely no way that Peter Parker had a crush on her. Her face felt hot, like it was burning as if the sun was beating down on her face. The college junior pulled her coat closer to her body.

"Where are you going?" A gentle voice asked her.

Maite whipped her body around to look at him. Didn't he just come here to see his friends? Her cheeks were betraying her, but she continued to say, " My shift is done... but I'm not sure yet. Probably home." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Sorry about my friends. I'm sure you heard what he said." Peter apologized.

"Some of it? Honestly, don't even worry about it." A laugh followed her words.

There was just no way that this man in front of her liked her.. he couldn't.. he rarely knew her... just. No.

"Let me make it up you."

"You didn't do anything wrong?" It sounded more like a question-- she didn't mean to do that. Peter hadn't said anything about her, so why did he have to be the one to apologize? He sounded pretty good at it too.. maybe he felt like he always needed to apologize for other people's mistakes.

"Doesn't matter. Let me just make it up to you."

"Are you always this stubborn?"

"Some might say."

"You won't take no for an answer?"

"Not really."

"You're impossible. I have an hour." Maite responded while waving her hand.

"Only an hour?"

"Take it or leave it." Maite said shooting his words back at him.

The pair began walking towards the subways. Probably better if they did whatever close to home. "Where is home?" He queried.

"Queens."

"Yeah? Me too." Peter replied sounding surprised.

"Small world." Maite mused.

They made their way to the subways while continuing to make small talk. Maite found out that Peter's favorite colors are red and blue while he noted that she liked purple.

"Aren't your friends going to be missing you?" Maite asked him while settling herself down on a seat.

"Nah. They can fend for themselves. Whitney keeps Harry pretty occupied anyways."

"They were complaining that you're rarely around." Maite commented.

"Hmm." Peter mused.

"You don't have to give anyone any explanations. Nobody should have any expectations from anyone anyways."

"Why not?" He sounded genuinely curious, but a small frown on his face.

"It only leads to disappointment." There was more, but she didn't say.

Maite had been disappointed too many times in her life-- she was tired of it. Sure she was young, but so much had happened already. It was better if she just continued with her low expectations.

Maite shrugged her shoulders, "Sorry."

"What for?" Peter inquired again.

"I'm not sure. Um. Oversharing?"

"You think that's oversharing? Don't be, it's how you feel... kinda sucks that your views are like that, but it's how you feel."

"It's not always the best."

Her light brown eyes looked over at the man next to her. She raised her eyebrows in curiosity as he just looked at her in return.

"What?" Maite asked.

"Just trying to figure you out."

"Why's that Peter?"

"Why not?" He challenged, his voice rougher than before.

Even though they were in the subway where it was loud, she heard every word perfectly clear. Almost like they were in their own bubble. The only thing running through her brain was why this? Why now? Why did he have to happen when she was finally having her life on track and on a rhythm?

"I don't have time for this." Maite said while peering her eyes away from his.

Maybe this was a mistake...There were reasons why she kept to herself, why she didn't socialize.

"Time for what?" He tilted his head to the side and gave her a lopsided grin.

"This." Maite responded while motioning between them.

"What makes you think I do?" He questioned her, although it sounded like he was talking more to himself than her.

Maite didn't say anything. Instead, she looked out the window while letting out a low sigh. "Then what are we doing here?"

"Hanging out?" Peter asked apprehensively. "You're a lot like me, you know. Keep to yourself, mind your own business..."

"You have friends. I don't. Not really." She pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger. "There's a lot going on."

"I'm sorry..." There it was, the gentle voice again.

"It's not your fault. It's life."

"You don't have room for a friend?"

"No. Not unless you can stand a flake. Life is unpredictable, which is how my schedule is..."

"Did you just forget how much I stand my friends up or not?" Peter let out a laugh.

At that remark, Maite couldn't help but laugh. "So how are we going to be friends if we don't even know if we can hang out?"

Peter scratched the back of his head at that response, "When life isn't unpredictable where are you usually?" He asked.

"School, Coffee Bean, or at home.. I don't go out much." For good reason.

The pair got off at the same stop. It had taken a little longer since there were a lot of people getting on and off. As they went up the stairs, Peter asked, "Ice cream?" He raised his eyebrows.

Maite nodded in response, a cool tasty treat sounded pretty good. "Where are you usually?"

"Around. At school.. or with my aunt. Skateboarding."

"Did you check your test score from the last Biochem test?" Her tongue glided over her bottom lip in anticipation of the answer, now caught in between her lips.

"Yep. Passed. You?"

"Same. Thanks to you." Maite was pretty sure that her blush had never gone away from the moment that she heard Harry say Peter had a crush on her to right now.

Fuck.

This wasn't good. There had been a boy before... a boy that had taken her out on a date. They had become a thing but it didn't last long. It was only in high school anyway. Turned out it was only a bet type of thing because who could really like her? Maite didn't think too much of a lot of things, but that one had stung a bit. She had actually liked him before he pretended to ask her out. It had all been a game to him when she had poured her heart and soul into the relationship. She vowed never to let anyone get too close to her, not after that humiliation. It was then that her fire had went out. She was still the same Maite, just more quieter, more observant now.

"It was all you. Or did you not see me on the other side of the hall?" Peter let out a laugh.

"You know what I meant." There was a goofy smile on her face.

"I'm glad. You less stressed yet?"

"Never in a million years."

"Will ice cream make it better?"

"I don't know, let's find out." Maite chirped towards him.

Peter opened the door for her. She mumbled a thank you in response.

The ice cream shop was empty besides the worker behind the bar. Maite stood in front of the flavor options as she opted for the classic Rocky Road. One scoop was all she needed. Her eyes looked over at Peter, as he got chocolate chip cookie dough with a scoop of chocolate. Maite was at the cash register getting her wallet out of her backpack, "[b]Please. Let me. After you saved my ass for this test, it's the least I can do." The brunette told him as he was protesting.

Peter Parker looked at her, "Just this once."

"Thank you. Really." Maite said handing the server her cash. They sat at a little table with two chairs. Her hand gripped the spoon slightly as she dipped it into her ice cream and put it in her mouth. Ice cream was sinfully good. Maite supposed she could make it a small habit to visit this place once a month and let herself get rid of her insecurities and stressors for a little while. Her eyes looked at him, looked at his face, looked at his hair, looked at how there was some stubble around his upper lip.

"What?" Peter asked her with a mouth stuffed of ice cream and his spoon in between his lips. He was scratching the back of his head again.

"Just trying to figure you out." Maite shot his words back at him again.

"You know, Harry wasn't lying..."

"About?" Maite asked, she wanted to hear it from him.

Her honey colored eyes noticed the blush creep up to his cheeks. "Me having a crush on you..." Peter swallowed, Maite's eyes flickering to his neck and watching the way his Adam's apple bobbed.

"Oh? That was pretty bold of you to admit, Parker. I'm impressed."

"What can I say? Ice cream does that to me."

"Don't you think you're rushing? First, you said you wanted to be friends, and now you're telling me you have a crush on me. You feeling brave Parker?" Maite asked again while letting out a melodic laugh.

"Friends can't have crushes on their friends?" His eyebrows raised at his question.

"I guess." Maite shrugged.

Chloe wasn't wrong, Maite had a definite crush, but hearing Peter admit it sounded even dreamier. The air felt thick between them, but Maite should at least throw a bone and let him know that, "I mean. You're pretty attractive yourself."

"You think so?"

"Oh, come on, Peter. You know you're attractive."

"You're right, I do know that." There was that smugness again. He cocked his head to the side and did that lopsided grin again.

"See? You don't need reassurance." Maite responded while waving her hand away.

"But I think you do." Peter's tone was much softer now.

"What do you mean?" Her voice was barely audible, but he seemed to have heard her.

"You try to blend in when you stand out all on your own. You keep to yourself, but everyone sees you."

"Wh-What?" Maite was dumbfounded again, her spoon in the cup.

"You have no idea do you?" Peter asked again while placing his spoon in his mouth, licking the ice cream off of it.

"I don't understand..." Maite rarely spoke to anyone. She just went to class, work, and home...

As her honey eyes looked into his big doe-eyed face, her heart fluttered in her chest, her blood rushing to her head. Peter had a soft smile on his face. It reached all the way to his eyes.

"You're everyone's crush, including the girls."

Maite scoffed, "Oh, shut up Peter." A soft laugh followed her words.

There was no way.

Her phone vibrated once more. She grabbed it from her back pocket and glanced at the message. It was her mom. "Oops. Gotta go, this was... fun. Let's do it again sometime, yeah?" Maite said while getting up.

Peter Parker got up too, the smile wavering off his face.

"See you in class." He told her while walking out of the ice cream shop with her. "Oh. Here. Give me your number so I can text you when I'm available and see if we can hang out then." He said to her. Maite nodded and handed him her phone. Once his number was in there, she pressed call so he could have hers.

She gave him a smile as she was leaving to which Peter returned the smile.

God, she was doomed.

I've been working on this for a couple of days. They're from Twisted Wonderland: Deuce and @chibichibisha's OC Ermine.

She shared with me a snipet of them a few days ago and they wer eso precious and gave me so many feels I just had to draw something. I love them so much <3 So my headcanon for the scene goes like this: Deuce tells him "I've found this flower and it reminded me of your eyes" and hold it on his hair "it's pretty, but you're way prettier..." tries to be suave and put the flower on Ermine's hair. He fails miserably because Ermine doesn't have human ears in where to put it. Panics, tries to find a solution and finally notices that he can put the flower on the hairpin so it doesn't fall. Meanwhile Ermine finds him adorable and laughs, and seeing him laugh is worth the embarassement for Deuce. That's it, that's the scene in my head, badly writen lmao I'm not a writer for a reason P.D.: You can see the timelpse on my twitter too~

I've wanted to do my OC Dillon as a chibi in the game for some time already, and I got some assets recently and worked on this!! And since it didn't take much to do, I asked @chibichibisha if she wanted me to do any of her bois too, and so here's Ermine too :D They could be better, but I think they turned out ok~ Hope you like them~~ All the assets I used were from @/alchemivich on Tumblr! “So, what's your prize, ah? Choose”. Gilly says offering him a beer.

“I'm gonna ask (Y/N) to take care of me”.

“No, no, no, no”. Coco replies, placing himself in front of him to stop his feet.

“The hell you sayin', brother? That bitch left your brain out of you, or what?” Angel narrows his eyes, shaking lightly his head.

“She's the forbidden fruit, carnal. Don' get into more troubles”. The mexican with long hair speaks.

“Prez looks happy teasing Oscar because I won”.

“Prez looks happy 'cause it's his daughter's birthday. ‘Best day of his life’, as he always says”. Gilly surrounds his neck with an arm, while continuing walking to the bar on the crowded yard.

“I will do it anyway”. Having a long sip of his beer, EZ gives it to his brother, taking the advantage to look for you.

You're sitting close to your father, clinged to one of his arms, having fun with your tíos and your family from other charters. It's your 21th birthday and Bishop decides to have a party with all the Mayans. So, the whole Santo Padre knows you're celebrating. It's the first time you see them all reunited, being the center of attention even if you don't like it. Every five minutes, a member walks closer to greet you, as if you were some kind of princess. Yes, your father is El Rey de los Mayas, but you're not sure what position it gives you.

Your eyes travel to the crowd, observing the younger Reyes coming with self-confidence and security towards your position. Sitting up on your chair, you smirk at him trying to not show how nervous you are. Should be illegal see this fucking good after a fight. You like him. You like him at the point you dream with him. But it's a shit that he hides what he feels because of Bishop. Just like you do. He's the most interesting man you have never known. Sometimes you try to figure out why the hell he joined Mayans, but then you see him riding his bike and your head goes blank.

“Congratulations, Ezekiel”. Your father compliments him with a huge smile on the corner of his lips.

“Thanks, presidente. I was… asking myself if (Y/N) could help me to fix me up. Angel sa—”.

“No”. “Yes”.

Bishop and Marcus talk in unison. The men look at each other, frowning a little. You're in the middle of them, raising your hands to both chests.

“Club business, caballeros”. Making fun of them, you get up from your chair holding EZ's hand.

You let him lead you to the inside of the clubhouse, looking for the medical kit to heal his face. Letting go his fingers tangled in yours, you cross the main hallway to the bathroom to take all the stuff you can need. Carrying it among your hands, you come back to the younger Reyes with that smile that makes your legs shake since you met him a year ago.

You ring the bell, holding with a hand the glass tray full of tamales, your best friend's favorite mexican dish. Coco opens the door with a cigar between his long fingers and a serious look on his face.

“We don' wan' publicity, thanks”. He says before trying to close the door on your nose.

“Don' you have a moment to talk about our lord Itzamná?” You joke on him, hitting the wood with a shoulder to come in.

“Ah, bueno, si es un Maya… pues sí, digo, no más, pasa, pasa”. (Well, if it's a Mayan… of course, come in, come in). He replies gesticulating exaggeratedly, starting to laugh.

“What's up, Coquito?”

The mexican takes the food from your hands, leaning to leave a loud kiss on your check.

“Hey, lil'mama”. The oldest Reyes surrounds your neck with both arms from behind you, kissing the top of your head. “Come're, I wanna introduce you to my brother”.

“The famous Ezekiel”.

“Oh, stop”. He clicks his tongue somewhat jealous, leading you to the kitchen. “Hey, EZ. That's (Y/N), Prez's daughter. So, don' try anything sexual with that smile yours”.

“Angel!” You break in laughs, before focusing on his brother.

“What's up? I'm Ezekiel, but everybody calls me EZ”. The younger Reyes leans forward surrounding your waist with an arm, pushing you closer to kiss your cheek.

You already know that you're fucked and in love.

“Don' lie, brother. We all call you ‘boy scout’!” Coco's words make you both laugh.

“You like adventures?” You ask trying to not sound as if you're flirting. But you are.

“And you?”

“Of course”.

“Yeah, well… What can I say then? I can make fire with everything, that's a good point if you wanna go hiking”.

“I'll keep it in mind, boy scout”.

EZ sits on the poker table, settling yourself between his legs to make it easier to clean the blood on his face with a wet soft towel. He doesn't set apart his eyes from you, on how focused you are on taking care of him. As if he was the most delicate thing in your life. And you're trying to not fall more for him, in case that it's possible. He doesn't need stitches, being enough using some iodine to cover the wounds. Looks like you're an artist in front of her masterpiece, watching him breathe somewhat nervous too close of you.

“I asked for a birthday wish that you don' kiss me tonight”. You mumble, getting lost in his eyes with both hands resting on his lap.

You're not going to blame the alcohol you have been drinking, but you're not in your best moment.

“Saying it will not be fulfilled”.

You can feel his long fingers, a little damaged, touring your hips until they flow on your lower back making you take a last step forward.

“Analyze the phrase, smart boy”.

Narrowing his eyes, and having some seconds, EZ begins to draw a sly smile shaking his head for an instant. Now, he has understood it.

“You wan' me to kiss you?”

“Technically, I don' want you to no kiss me”. You point out, emphasizing each word, containing a loud laugh. “That's what I said. More or less”.

“Tonight”.

“Yeah', tonight”.

“What about tomorrow?” He mutters, raising up a hand to the right side of your neck, caressing the line of your jaw with a thumb.

“I don't know, EZ… I think my last brain cell collapsed”. Pursing your lips, you're almost touching his.

He laughs between his teeth, before kissing you. Your heart has collapsed too, when the adventurous hand goes up to the back of your head, while your mouths fit like two pieces of a puzzle. In perfect harmony. No rush. No nerves. Nothing. You're calmed, enjoying the taste of beer on his tongue, and the taste of tequila on yours. His lips aren't soft, but you're in love with them, with him, right as he is. Al carajo with that your father said. If he is playing his skin for you, you're going to do the same.

Your fingers roam his bare chest, noticing that he's breathing somewhat better, pressing his hand on your back to push you a little closer. Up to his neck, your fingers wrap it softly while he bites your lower lip so sensual that, if he wasn't holding you, you could fall down.

“Your father is watching us”. He whispers onto your mouth, caressing your nose with his.

Your cheeks are burning when you turn between EZ's legs to the main door. Bishop is resting against the frame having a drag of his cigar and carrying a closed bottle of tequila. You know what it means. You made him the promise that you would get drunk together, now that you can ‘legally’ drink.

“I have… to leave. Put some ice on your knuckles, okay?” You say to the younger Reyes, and he simply nods.

El presidente is killing him with his look, offering you a hand to hold it and take you away from the prospect. Going downstairs, he puts his eyes on you with an incredulous gesture.

“It could be worse, dad”.

“Oh, really? Surprise me, mi amor”.

“Could be Angel, instead of EZ”.

“Why the fuck you have an answer for everything, ah?”

“C'mon, dad! It's my birthday”.

“Yeah, the anniversary of the best day of my life. But we're going to talk about it tomorrow”.

@shinidamachu I did it. I finished ATLA! I can now say with confidence that Zutara totally should have happened. They just have better chemistry together on top of all the other parallels between them. Beyond that, I like the show, but, IMO, the writing is decent, not great, with moments of either amazing or bad mixed in. However, I can see why it is popular, with the amazing world and characters they built.

First of all, I want to thank everybody that reached out to me, commented, re-blogged, and liked my post yesterday! I truly feel welcomed and loved!

Second, look at that picture! I mentioned the idea of Rin x Shiori (ShioRin) and it got more attention than I honestly expected! And then @kirrtash posted the above picture, which I was just blown away by! Look at how happy they look! Amazing work! But this leads to my final point.

Hello to the Inuyasha fandom! Some of you may have seen me re-blogging, liking, commenting, and, with a few people anyways, interacted with! Well, I’ve finally gotten up the courage to make an official “hello” post. This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a bit now, but for one reason or another usually anxiety I haven’t. Until today, of course! I’m gonna put some additional info about me below the cut to help keep this small, but feel free to message me or send me asks if you want to get to know me better/interact with me. Or just ignore me. I won’t be offended. I just want to try and make some friends and get help/encouragement for my writing. Again, hello! And until next time, I hope you all are well!

Some personal details:

I’m 32 and got into Inuyasha when it was first airing on Adult Swim. I didn’t really get into the fandom then, though. I had some friends that also enjoyed it as well, but that was about it. Inuyasha quickly found a place in my heart, but after a few years I some what moved on. A couple months ago, I finally decided to check out HnY when I saw it on Crunchyroll. It was something like two or three episodes away from finishing the season at the time. After bingeing that, I went back and started re-watching Inuyasha, somehow started reading fanfiction, and now I’m here!

My writing:

I’ve always been one to come up with ideas and work them out in my head. But usually I’d struggle with pushing myself to write them down and just let them bounce around until I moved on with another idea/forgot them. I finally decided that I’m gonna push myself to work through what has been holding me back and share my ideas with others! It has been slow so far, but I’m still going.

As for what you can expect from my writing itself, I have a variety of ideas that fall into humor/comedy, fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, and even some dark stuff. They could be entirely one of those or a mix of the categories. I think it’ll be mostly fluff and/or angsty stuff, but we’ll just have to wait and see how my writing evolves and what I end up being most motivated to write.

Some Inuyasha specifics of mine:

InuKag is my OTP. I probably won’t ever split them up, ever

I just want InuKag to be happy dammit!

I’ve never really been a fan of Sesshomaru, but I’ve come to respect him

I just want Inuyasha and Koga to be friends dammit!

I’ve never hated Kikyo, but I’ve come around on her and like her now

I’ve recently come to the realization that I think I ship KogKik

I also ship MirSan(duh), KaguKik, and RinShiori

Parting words:

I’ve never really been one for social media so this is kinda? new for me, but I’m trying to push myself out of my shell and make some friends. Minding your business is a delicate process, like heart surgery, or pickpocketing. For moms and grandmoms I fight eternally, for sisters and close girl cousins.. until I get tired, but anything below that pay grade, you might want to call the cops, your man, your dad, the feller you are currently dutty whinin', a nosy neighbour, a less jaded person than me, or keep your opinions to yourself in a sandwich shop in the Bronx at 4:30am, cause I ain't helping you.

Unless (as we have covered) my mom knows you, or I think you will let me ladle that fondue as a parting gift.

airlock grades the villain archetypes: Three Houses edition

(so, this post is going to be, in fact, long as fuck -- which is a good opportunity to once again plug my dreamwidth, where you can read this post with more tidily organzed sections, as well as individual spoiler warnings on each one!)

you know, it's an interesting coincidence, it really is. when I originally started making those villain grading posts, we were just a few months away from a long-anticipated new Fire Emblem release, and that moment gave me the idea to take on that little exercise for a number of reasons. and then, here we are, about three months shy of three years later. for a number of different reasons, I started to think about finally making a follow-up post, seeing how I'd compare the antagonists from Three Houses to their predecessors. freshly boosted on new meds, I whip out a very long draft for a post in just a few days. and then, the day after I was done, a long-anticipated new Fire Emblem release is announced. and so, just on a whim of fate, I'm technically returning to this text post series under the same conditions as I started it! isn't it poetic? okay, yeah, so, I think I’ve officially seen this one spelling error happen one too many times in fanfic. and like, I don’t like to be pedantic, but I guarantee that if you trip over this one you will punt readers off the narrative and into the stratosphere

so let’s understand the difference here:

a segue is a fluid movement from one state into another, or a rhetorically opportune change of subject. for example: “Since she brought up the lawn, I managed to segue into complaining about what happened to my flower garden.”

a Segway (R) is a two-wheeled battery-powered micromobility vehicle, typically associated with mall cops, dorks, and dorky mall cops. for example: “I’m still upset that her idiot cousin drove his Segway all over my flowers.”

as you can imagine, if you tell me about the segway that your character just pulled, that will immediately shatter the illusion that they’re a smooth talker.

so there was that whole fiasco with a map of Europe going around claiming to be about in which countries it is or isn’t typical to feed one’s houseguests, and this is now being regarded as an open fiasco because it’s come to light that the map is false and does not correspond to any real information about the countries highlighted, even though a lot of people were quick to throw stones at the ones where it supposedly was not common to feed one’s houseguests

I suppose it’s as good a time as any for me to point out that, as far as I’m concerned, this was a fiasco well before then, and wouldn’t have been one bit less of a fiasco if the map had been 100% true.

because here’s the thing... it may be the case that, when presented with the idea that it may not be common in some cultures to feed one’s houseguests, your instant, kneejerk reaction is to think, huh, that sounds inconsiderate and antisocial. if that’s what you thought, though, and if you chased that thought all the way down to the end and to its logical conclusions, then what I’d really like to ask is... who the fuck died and made you the arbitrer of other people’s cultures???

I’m not saying that a cultural difference justifies any and everything, but man alive, how jingoistically arrogant do you have to be in order to make and sincerely believe in snap-judgements like these? how do you decide, based just on a colorful little map, void of any other context, void of any other information on what the people of a certain country are like, that they’re just rude as hell because in your mind that one thing you heard sounds rude as hell? what head-spinning idiot attitude is this where you think you can pass judgement on an entire people, based on so little?

so if nothing else, what I’d really like for this mess to pass on in people’s minds is not just that they should maybe check sources and not believe everything that’s presented to them in a colorful little map -- but really most importantly, that when you’re hearing and thinking about a whole other culture, you should, no, must, approach it with the attitude of a listener and a learner, not the attitude of someone who knows better.

I thought about asking about some Fire Emblem character or another, but then I realized -- oh, right, I could actually easily discern the Ryu Number of every single Fire Emblem character myself in just a few broad strokes. so... this is me, taking on that challenge!
