7 Favorite Comfort Movies! List 7, tag 7!
Tagged by @ihaventcomeupwthanameforaheroyet and @mothmage (thank you!!)
I mean, it goes without saying that Interview with the Vampire is on the list although I have not actually seen in at least 5 years. I should rectify that!
Other 7 Comfort Movies:
Ever After - This movie is one of my favorites and I love putting this on when I'm sick or need a pick me up. It never fails to lift my spirits.
Jurassic Park - I am actually wearing a Jurassic Park t-shirt right now, I am a little bit obsessed. But nothing makes me happier than when they pull up to the giant gates of the park and the John Wlliams score swells.
The Life Aquatic - It's probably the only Wes Anderson film that really resonates with me, I enjoy his others but this one IDK. It's Bill Murray, deep sea creatures, and Jeff Goldblum. "Let me tell you about my boat."
Ghostbusters - This movie is so freaking funny and it's just solid. Plus Billy Murray again! (I also love the 2016 one tbh. Holtzmann is my wife.)
Frozen - I relate to Elsa a lot but also, it's just a well done story and the songs slap. Idina Menzel FTW. (I watch Lilo and Stitch when I need a good cry. That movie makes me sob.)
Repo the Genetic Opera - Weirdly comforting to watch Paris Hilton's face fall off, Anthony Stewart Head has pipes, it's just a fun movie for its dark critique of capitalism and health care. Also the music is catchy AF.
Megamind - Just a great subversion of superhero tropes and fun story! Makes me happy.
Honorable mention to Avengers & Captain America: the Winter Soldier, both of which I've seen too many times but I couldn't decide between them.
Tagging: @uncivilcivilservice, @rebel-revenant, @bioluminescently-unfolding, @fofoqueirah, @leslutdepointedulac, @madeofklay, @scarfacemarston (and anyone else who wants to do it!)
I haven't been on tumblr all day so I have zero hope of keeping track of who has been tagged, so apologies for double tags etc.

List 7 comfort films and tag 7 people:
I was tagged by the always ever-awesome @missoliverstark Thanks, hon!
Twilight
Hey, man, don't judge me. 😐
😂 I can't explain it but, if I'm stressed out, I can put on the first Twilight and just chill. It is what it is. 🤷♀️
2. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Technically, the entire trilogy fits the bill but I've literally seen Fellowship several hundred times by now. I bought the Special Edition DVD set for Fellowship before I even owned a DVD player, lol! I eventually got to the point where I could not only recite the English dialogue, I could recite the Elvish as well. This movie has been burned into my brain and I wouldn't have it any other way. 🤗
3. The Mummy (1999)
I'm not saying I've watched this movie a lot but... well, I wore out my VHS copy. The image literally faded out in places. It's one of the few, if possibly only movies that I own in 3 formats: VHS, DVD and Blu-ray. Considering how much I adore it, I'm floored that I've never actually vidded it yet. Oh well, there's still time; I mean, an Ardeth Bay tribute to "I'm Sexy and I Know It" would totally work, right? 😇
4. Ladyhawke
This one has proved redonkulously hard to find a decent transfer on DVD or Blu-ray, so I haven't seen it in ages. That said, it's another I watched SO many times on VHS and it's definitely one of the formative movies of my life. 😍
5. Beauty and the Beast
I enjoyed the live action version as well but I'll give it to the classic animated version for this reply because I've seen it more. 🤗
6. Godzilla vs Kong
Okay, so is a giant radioactive lizard and a giant gorilla beating the stuffing out of each other supposed to be a comfort movie? Probably not but it's just one I enjoy watching when I want to kinda chillax, so... 🤷♀️😂😉
7. Star Wars
Technically, Empire Strikes Back is the one of the original trilogy I tend to default to but I've seen A New Hope and Return of the Jedi a lot as well. Any of them just takes me back to a simpler time as well as reminds me where my love of fictional scoundrels comes from. 😉
Honorable mentions:
TRON/TRON Legacy, Labyrinth, Terminator/T2: Judgment Day, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and Warm Bodies. Yes, I have weird tastes and odd ideas as to what makes a comfort movie, lol! 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️😉
No pressure tags: @coleishere @ghostslillady @authortobenamedlater @mrtobenamedlater @sarnakhwritesthings @helplessdreamersworld @fandomdancer @brianllama
And yes, I lost count but who even cares, right? 😛😂 Also, if you're reading this and would like to share your comfort movies, I'd absolutely love for you to! Please accept this as an official tag from me! *boops your nose politely* 💖🤗

post 7 comfort movies + tag 7 people. Thank you for including me, @baronessblixen~!
Speed Racer (2008)-- It's gorgeous. CGI is a blend is a crazy blend that holds up; and the Racer family are so tightly-knit, full of heart and love and pain and healing; and there's the perfect level of camp and humor and villainy and everything all mixed in. Cannot recommend enough. The novelization is one of my comfort reads.
2. Ever After w/ Drew Barrymore. Amazing and witty and tender.
3. A rotating assortment of Mattel Barbie movies (the classics up to 12 Dancing Princesses, then skipping ahead to The Red Shoes and NOTHING else)
4. Holiday/Arsenic and Old Lace/Charade with Cary Grant (when I'm in a black and white mood) or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (maybe)
I'm more of a tv person, so the rest of this list doesn't quite fit the rules but I watch them like movies:
4. X-Files FTF (and mostly series, especially S6's Arcadia.)
5. BBC miniseries count? If so: P&P 1995 and Jane Eyre 2005.
6. Batman the Animated Series/The Mask of the Phantasm or Batman: The Brave and the Bold series
7. Things I've downloaded from Youtube to watch/rewatch later (does that count? I'm trying here. XDD)
Seriously, give Speed Racer a watch. It's gorgeous and moving.
Consider these mentions if you don't want to participate~: @suitablyaggrieved, @two-microscopes, @tiredpeterparker, @medicaldoctordana, @waiting-for-the-day, @perpetually-weirdening, @dd-is-my-guiltypleasure, (and @xxsksxxx, @frogsmulder, @swinging-stars-from-satellites, @mollybecameanengineer, @samucabd, @ghostbustermelanieking, @wexleresque, @wexler-mcgill, and anyone else who sees and wants to participate!)

7 Comfort Movies
Post 7 comfort movies and tag 7 people!
While some of my choices may not seem like “comfort” movies, they are to me for one reason or another, be it nostalgia or a favorite actor, or whatever. With that, here’s my choices.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, AKA: The one with the whales! Honestly any Star Trek film can be a substitute here, because my other top fandom besides FFXIV is definitely Star Trek. But this one film in particular is just really good, and it makes me laugh to no end.
Total Recall, the original not the crappy remake. Why? Because I love Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s so incredibly nostalgic for me, and this film was my introduction to Philip K. Dick’s works, which I went on to do my Master’s Thesis on one of his novels.
Demolition Man, where all the restaurants are Taco Bell! This one is because of nostalgia and because it’s absolutely hilarious.
Blade Runner, because I love this movie so much, I did my Master’s Thesis on the novel that the movie is based on. It’s what made me fall in love with the cyberpunk genre.
The Matrix, mainly the first one, but I do love them all, oddly enough. Keanu Reeves is one of my all time favorite actors, and once again, cyberpunk for the win!
The Mummy, because come on, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are absolutely amazing in this film, and it’s SO GOOD!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, because yes, my favorite Indiana Jones movie is the oddball second one where they pull out people’s hearts in sacrifice… yeah, I’m weird, okay?

7 comfort movies
Generally my go to comfort viewing is series, I have a few I flit between so it’s taken some time to swim through the soup of my favourite movies to pick the ones I personally find the most comforting
Thanks @listen-to-the-inner-walrus for tagging me
Ginger Snaps - this is one of my all time favourite films, I’m a sucker for all werewolf media as well as anything from the 90s/00s and I personally relate to being a fucking weirdo teenager
Tank Girl - this one’s just so much fun sci-fi I just love how silly it is
The Craft - might be my favourite film I’ve been obsessed with it since I first saw it as a teenager
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - I don’t really need to explain this one, truly one of the cosiest franchises, I could’ve put all three here tbh
What We Do in the Shadows - silly goofy fun but with vampires
Wolfwalkers - I could’ve picked any of the Irish folklore trilogy but this one is my personal favourite, the animation is the best and most unique I’ve seen, highly recommend any of the trilogy
The Lair of the White Worm - a new addition to my faves this movie is dumb and fun and ridiculous
Tagging some randoms that I <3 @gwoo81 @daedrasilk @imogen-mangle @katrodriguez99 @hale-of-stiles-heart @moreorlessyellow @common-toad
#usually my comfort go to is gavin and stacey Worzel gummidge bobs burgers gravity falls or Hilda#but those are all shows so I figured I’d just include them down here#7 comfort movies#ginger snaps#tank girl#the craft#lotr#lair of the white worm#wolf walkers#tag games#some other films that didn’t quite make it are#scream submarine heathers the fifth element total recall dredd repo the genetic opera etc#there’s more but too many to list here

glinda running away screaming and crying and then standing against the wall and closing her eyes and waiting for death... elphaba saw firsthand how much of a TERRIBLE fugitive glinda would've been and was still like mmm yes please come with me we'll be the greatest team there's ever been. she loves glinda so dearly.
#gelphie#wicked movie#rambles#glinda covering her ears and then closing her eyes... my sweet autistic baby was just overstimulated leave her alone!!#elphaba is soooo fucking down bad for this girl#she saw this incredible stunt and was like yeah she can 100% help me overthrow the government#GOD glinda would've been so bad on the run and yet elphaba would not have regretted it even once#if anything she would've regretted taking glinda away from her comfort zone because now glinda is Struggling 24/7#but she wouldn't regret having glinda by her side#because having glinda by her side matters more than anything!!#she loves her so much hello can anyone hear me

Thanks for the tag @mexicanwanderingsoul !
Here are my 7 movies in no particular order!
The Princess Bride - I used to watch this movie literally every night. I would put it on at 9:00 and it would run until 10:38 and then I would go to bed. My dad probably thought I was crazy but he also watched it with me so 🤷♀️
American Hustle - Such a good movie. Good soundtrack too. I love Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale.
3:10 to Yuma - also Christian Bale. My dad used to be an engineer and was familiar with the train used in the movie so that was originally why I watched it but it's just so good.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp! Need I say more?
The Mask of Zorro AND The Legend of Zorro - I'm lumping them together. Such inspiration to me. Also, Antonio Banderas again.
Sing AND Sing 2 - usually I don't like kids movies and begrudgingly watch them with my kids but I used to watch Sing 1 when my husband and kids would go out of town for the weekend. Definitely a comfort and amazing soundtracks. The sequel was just as good.
The Insidious movies, ALL OF THEM - I love the way they are twisted together and connect so well. I love horror movies but it seems like all the good ones were old and some of them seem corny now with old special effects but these are the first modern horror movies that really got me.

Rules: seven comfort films, seven people
I’m nottttt a movie girl so we’ll see :’)
Little Miss Sunshine (2006) - my favorite movie of all time, easily. I have seen this SO many times
Rodrick Rules (2011) - we always get together for movie nights, and watch whatever movie we have in mind, and then after it’s over we put on rodrick rules and fall asleep on top of one another on the couch. good times.
Ouran High School Host Club - the very first summer I was old enough to stay home alone, I would wait for my mom to leave for work, and I would pull all the pillows off the couch onto the floor and watch Ouran over and over again, absolutely enchanted. To this day, it still never fails to make me so happy, I will cry to the ending theme like it’s nobody’s business. So, that’s the closest thing I’ve got to a comfort show I guess.
The Hangover (2009) - uh. no comment.
Into the Spiderverse / Across the Spiderverse - yeah yeah we’re all obsessed with it, I know. I watched the original a whole bunch of times, can’t wait til the 2nd part is out on DVD so I can watch it on repeat :3
Call Me By Your Name (2017) - listen- for the longest time, I couldn’t stand this movie. I thought it was boring and confusing as fuck, everything is all subtext. Then I read the book and got obliterated by it, (mainly due to strangely similar events occurring in my life at the same time?). I had a LONG phase with this book; my copy is well-loved and covered in highlighter. when I watch this movie, it takes me back to the best summer I’ve ever lived.
Mean Girls (2004) - I can probably quote this all the way through :/
You guys don’t have to give any reasoning behind your choices! I just like to talk lmao. All of these are such basic choices but I’d call them modern classics :p
If you guys like tag games, join meee :D

Do gay people even know about Birdy?
Once every couple months I remember these dudes and they take over my whole mind
I am BEGGING people to read or watch Birdy
I'm in love with queercoded old fiction. And these pictures don't even begin to show how queer it is. Not to mention it's one of the best portrayals of complex PTSD I've ever seen
There's a part where Birdy gets 2 birds specifically with the intention of having them mate and have babies and he names them Birdie and Alfonso after Al and himself. HELLO????
#anyway#al is a raging bisexual#and birdy (one of my top comfort characters of all time) is gay asexual and nonbinary!!#(headcanons only btw. its not canon but it SHOULD be)#be warned the story is somewhat disturbing. but its one of my favorites#first time i watched the movie i thought “i will never watch this again”#that was like 5 years ago and ive seen it 7 times now and read the book twice 😅#its a lot. but i think more people should know about it#birdy#birdy 1984#birdy william wharton#william wharton#nicolas cage#matthew modine#alan parker#80s#80s movies#queercoded lit#queercoded period piece#lgbtqia#birdy movie#birdy book#oh AND to make it even better the movie has a peter gabriel soundtrack!!!#thats how you know its a weird masterpiece#peter gabriel#movies stuff#birdy stuff
