Happy WIP Wednesday!

Today's sneak preview was originally written for chapter 3, but I'm considering saving it for later because it could fit in lots of places. Anyway, have a little Ed POV today, where he's reflecting a bit on parental grief:

The thing about losing his father that had been the easiest to untangle had also been the hardest to bear, and when he'd finally put it together, the pain had hit Ed in the chest sudden and hard like a charging ram. Pop had taken a lot with him when he died, up to and including his own memories of Ed's mother. Memories that would never have been accessible to Ed anyway, but that he could now feel as an aching void in the world. And as he and his sisters and their children eventually passed away themselves, more bits of her would vanish with them until nothing real remained.

Sure, she would probably make it into the history books with the rest of the family, but only for her connections to each of them. Blackbear's daughter, Blackheart's wife, Blackbeard's mother, but nothing that would even require her name to come down the annals. And so he repeats it to himself now: Charlotte. Charlotte. Charlotte. Her name was Charlotte and she had mattered so much more than anyone in the future would ever know.

both courtney eaton and simone kessell talking about how much guess work they have built by themselves for lottie matthews, like talking about how that's mostly what they have had, each other, to build lottie from the device the writers at most allow her to be: it does not sit right with me at all, they're being left out unconsciously or not in understanding themselves like more often than not how whites want us to be in so many contexts, out of the loop, pliable for the white hands looking for tools

like part of me wonders how much she was conceived as a full person in the first place, if at all, and look im not trampling on the writers because i know that's what i come of as across in some circles but the writers are white they're gonna make mistakes and overlook certain things that aren't important for them in telling their story, which means we as audience get to pick up the slack by engaging with it

like you wanna talk about the experience of girlhood and how isolating yada yada yada it is, fine, keep cutting yourself from the rest of the population, but what you're not gonna do is try to carve girls of color out as your costume instead of expanding your understanding of girlhood through the lens of race like ffs it's right there waiting for you to examine your own biases and those present in the show unknowingly or not, lottie hasn't been allowed to be a person since season 1, the writers mythologized her early on and people keep seeing the martyr and the cutting board instead of the traumatized little girl she has been ever since her first screams in that fucking car, get some fucking nuance or i will get it for you

How is it that you go about finding these articles of clothing so precisely?

Well, honestly, I can never really be 100% sure that when I find something that it’s the exact item from the show but it really just depends on the item.

To start, when I’m look for an item I try to go off of clear reference photos or I’ll watch scenes with said item in them. From there, I begin my search for an item. I won’t really go into the search process as I’ve already described it in a previous post but you could check it out if you’re interested in that.

You wanted to know how I find things so precisely. Usually, items can be found with a couple of techniques.

If the item has specific patterns or details, I make sure the item I find has those same patterns and details. I just keep breaking down the things that makes the item from the show unique and compare them to the item I’ve found until I’m satisfied they are the same item.

For example, I knew Simone’s pink top was the same as this one from Zara because I compared the details. Simone’s shirt has a hexagon shaped pattern of eyelets on her right side, the Zara top has that same pattern on its right side. Plus, we can see the vertical flower pattern of Simone’s left side also represented in the Zara shirt. I further broke it down comparing the details but because all the details matched up, I determined it was the same top.

I did the same evaluation process with this Shauna plaid until I was satisfied they had the same pattern. While the Grayson Plaid’s lines match up with the placement of Shauna’s sometimes plaid patterns can be placed differently because of how the fabric is cut. For example, with young Shauna’s Vans flannel, the item photo I used had the pattern flipped upside down. In that case and cases similar, it is important to asses the pattern as a whole not just in how it relates to/is placed on the show item.

Other items on the show have logos so I have a narrower search field to sift through in order to find the right item. For example, Jackie’s sweater has the Ralph Lauren logo and “Polo” written on the side. Those logos told me that I was looking specifically for a Ralph Lauren “Polo” brand blue striped sweatshirt versus just generally looking for a blue striped sweatshirt. From there I did the same detail assessment. Does it have the blue logo coloring, does it have “Polo” written on the side, does it have the pink collar and the same general number of stripes etc.

For the season 3 plaid coat, I was able to find it in a similar way I do for items with logos. While the coat doesn’t have its tag anymore, we can see the remnants of it with those black vertical lines. When I saw those I instantly thought of the brand Forever 21 as I’ve cut tags off of some of my clothes from there and it looked the same. From there I was specifically searching for Forever 21 fleece lined flannel jackets which ultimately lead to me finding it.

Another way I can find items is through statements made by cast members, the costume department, and more. By listening to interviews and reading articles about the show’s fashion, I’ve been able to find a lot of items based off of information provided by people who work on the show (reliable sources with first hand knowledge). For example, Simone Kessell did an interview focused on Lottie’s outfits and I was able to find a bunch of items with that intel.

Other clothing items are less distinctive. Those items are generally much harder to find / narrow down. For Natalie’s gray shirt, it really could’ve come from anywhere as it’s just a gray shirt. But because I’ve found a ton of other items from the show, I have a list of commonly featured brands that I can add to my search to see if it helps identify the item. In this case, Natalie wears a lot of AllSaints shirts and so when I saw the listing for this shirt I knew to check it out.

But sometimes I can’t really determine if an item I’ve found is the exact item from the show which is why I have my Close Matches. For example, Mari has a gold and white raglan baseball shirt. If you search that into a search engine you’ll find a bunch of matches and they all look the same. There’s no way I could narrow that down further unless I had access to the show’s wardrobe department to look at Mari’s shirt tags. (Though sometimes I use Close Matches for items that are just remotely similar to the items seen in the show if I can’t find the exact item or something more closely accurate.)

Ultimately, when looking for items it all comes back to looking at the details. I hope you found this insightful and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

how would you rank the first 10 episodes of season 1 and why?

ACTUALLY I TAKE IT BACK THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE

okay. i will attempt the impossible. but i Will be very biased and this is mostly about which episodes have my fav scenes ghsjdfhghfg from best to least favorite episode. let's go!! (spoilers: this is fucking long and i did both seasons!!!)

episode 1: pilot. because ??? it's literally perfect?? what do you want me to say. flawlessly introducing all the girls' pre-crash personalities. the shaunajackie homoerotic tension. "you are beautiful in the eyes of our lord". natalie wearing purple. pit girl!!!! she's been iconic since day 1!!!!

episode 10: Sic Transit Gloria Mundi. what can i say. i like beginnings and ends. i like high school reunions. i like death scenes that will haunt me forever and ever. and i still think that "who the fuck is lottie matthews?!" is one of the best lines ever

episode 5: blood hive. listen... nothing gets to me like a possession. to this day that's still one of my favorite scenes of the whole show

episode 9: doomcoming. absolutely iconic. pure chaos. also just the name doomcoming? instantly made history. "there's no bookclub?!?!?" also the aftermath of laura lee's death! how cute they all were getting ready together! jackie and misty. shaunajackie arriving together. lottie wearing laura lee's dress :) (smiling through the pain). TAIVAN!!

episode 2: f sharp. *whispers* cunt. ← literally all i need to say. but seriously. it's nice to see them already there. but not insane yet. and of course, "hello misty... you crazy fucking bitch <3"

episode 7: no compass. i really thought van was so dead here 😭 but that was insane. and i liked to see the adults still chasing ppl <3

episode 3: the dollhouse. LAKE SCENE!!!!!!!!!!! and the beginning of lottie's beef with the cabin <3

episode 8: flight of the bumblebee. this episode ruined my life <3

episode 4: bear down. i mean, one episode had to be last even if love them all!!!! i do!!!!! and as much as the competition was fun to watch, i think they should've killed travis the second that he pointed that gun at nat <3

and you know what???? i want to share my ranking of season 2 too 😭 gshjdfhgjfhg so

episode 1: Friends, Romans, Countrymen. lend me your ears!!!!! another perfect episode!!! i'm still getting chills every time i listen to seventeen and cornflake girl (which is several times every day). i think nothing compares to the feeling of watching shauna eat jackie's ear. also the day i fell in love with simone kessell as lottie matthews. i literally haven't been the same since then. also the teen lottie yell!!!!

episode 4: old wounds. listen.... i don't know what they put in this episode (laura lee's ghost and lottienat bath scene and adult van) but it literally changed me as a person

episode 2: Edible Complex. ella purnell acting as ghost jackie is seriously one of the best things i've ever seen. and the jackie feast!!!!! history was made!!!!!!!

episode 8: it chooses. when i tell you that i've never, never been so stressed as i was from the moment that they start drawing cards to the moment the credits started rolling in.... i'm so serious okay? worst night of my life. i wish i could live it again (bonus points for lottie losing it at her friends confessing their many crimes)

episode 7: burial. therapy time!!! bruce the goat!!!! 🥰 nothing compares to the feeling of seeing the adults just happily hanging out (plus florence and the machine songs!). and then shaunalottie sex scene shauna beating lottie up while the adults dance around a bonfire??? 1000% rewired my brain. i collapse on the ground every time i listen to lighting crashes (again. several times every day)

episode 6: qui. i fully support sophie nelisse emmy campaign <3 unnecessarily cruel <3 they fuckimg ate that baby <3 jackie's voice <3 high school reunion!! <3 that last scene will fucking haunt me forever and ever amen

episode 10: storytelling. this episode ruined my life <3 i will defend it forever though!!!!! i swear i will!!!! i'm yellowjackets episode 2.10 number one defender!!!!! the natalie coronation scene is my favorite thing in the world. and i loved to watch the cabin burn, idk if i was the only one but i did NOT expect it!!! can't wait to see them huddling for warmth on a pile like puppies on season 3

episode 3: digestif. baby shower 🥰!!!! and i'm a simple lesbian, i just want melanie lynskey to point me with a gun

episode 5: two truths and a lie. teen nat comforted by adult lottie like adult nat will be comforted by teen lottie in a few episodes will haunt be forever. but, "i'm so sorry bestie", literally no one wanted to see that much of randy walsh

As much as I love living in my little lottienat AU bubble, I just wanted to dive into the fact that I am not delusional over the fact that Natalie felt absolutely betrayed - and heartbroken - by Lottie in the end (especially after 208). I've seen comments made within the YJ fandom, tags, twt, etc. where people were complaining that they thought Natalie's sudden "devotion" to Lottie was very out of character for her and although I can understand their reasoning to an extent, I personally, disagree. Natalie finally gets to a point where she actually does believe in what Lottie is trying to do and allows herself to succumb to that after their hypnosis session because she's well aware that if she doesn't, she's just going to fall right back into the same mindset she's always had which, obviously hasn't done her or anyone any good. For a split second basically, she thinks that maybe she was wrong, that Lottie has actually changed for the better and she sees that as a guiding light that she can too. If Lottie Matthews can, why can't she? Mind you, this is strictly my opinion and interpretation while taking in some outside sources from actor interviews etc. I'm not stating this as fact. In this article specifically with Simone Kessell, Simone talks about the shift in Nat and Lottie's relationship, saying: I remember in [Episode] 208 saying to our director, Daisy [von Scherler Mayer], “There has to be a shift here,” because when Lottie says, “One of us has to drink the tea,” you see Natalie looking at Lottie, that’s the beginning of it. You see Natalie go, “Oh my goodness, this is wrong. She’s mentally ill and I’ve followed her to the edge, but I am not going to jump.” And that’s the turning point in 208. So, when 209 comes, Natalie is very, very dark on Lottie, but Lottie is not present to that because Lottie is so unhinged, for search of a better word. To go back to Natalie's perspective, she gets to the point of thinking she's finally found someone she can potentially trust who is actually helping her get better and on the right track only to find out she (Nat) was right all along when Lottie starts talking about making a sacrifice. She's disappointed, she feels like a fool, and she's angry that she allowed herself to be persuaded into believing things could get better. That she could get better.

WANTED CONNECTION #1: THE ONE AFTER LUKE. it was likely a couple years after her divorce when this flame was first lit, but this person was the most serious romantic relationship amara ever had after luke. she likely remained rather guarded throughout the whole thing -- beginning very hot and heavy. things likely moved too quickly for amara, and i could see her wanting to tell this person she loved them, but never quite being able to bring herself to. wether they are on good or bad terms is completely up to player.

Maia had to laugh that her name in Māori meant “one who has unconditional love” because she seemed to have anything but.  She barely knew her father, only knowing that he knew her mother from a con she was involved in, so naturally when he wasn’t in the picture her mother tried her best to raise Maia on her own in her home country of New Zealand.  However her mother, Kora, couldn’t stay out of the business for long.  Most of the time Maia couch surfed, family and friends taking her in until Kora came back for her, and it wasn’t until Maia started being able to realize what the family business was that she realized she needed to be useful.

She started using her childlike charm and cuteness on her mother’s cons, always believing that if she did well enough her mom would make enough money and they could actually settle down together and live a normal life - maybe even her mom would reconnect with her birth dad.  But the more Maia grew up the more cynical she got, knowing dreams were something that she should never afford to let herself fall into one.  As Maia was of age she ran from home and started doing her own jobs, soon having a crew of trusted individuals that she thought she could call family.

Little did she know that trust was misplaced.

The last con that Maia did was one that was monumental, to say the least.  She was to pretend to be the long lost daughter of a banker, and if she wasn’t used to breaking people’s hearts she would pity how happy he was to actually have someone in his life.  After spending as much time was needed with him to trust her, Maia would start introducing him to a cast of convoluted characters and plot lines - eventually having him steal from his bank.  He got so far as hiding the money in his own place.  One of Maia’s crew members was supposed to set up a in-home robbery, even so much as getting the banker’s own personal savings, but on the big day when Maia walked into the house they were all waiting for her.  Seeing the look on everyone’s faces, Maia knew they had double crossed her.  

She grabbed what she could and got the hell out of dodge.  She tried to go home to her mother but her mother wanted absolutely nothing to do with her, saying how she wasn’t a good con artist and therefor had no use to Kora.  Maia stayed long enough to at least get information on her father.  Kora didn’t have to tell Maia twice, she left town and never thought of looking back.  

It didn’t take long in finding where her father was, she was good at finding information on people.  So without thinking twice she came to Denver in hopes of getting help.  Plus if Maia was being honest with herself, she wanted to know this other part of her history.  But she had to reason with herself that it was just getting information - after all she couldn’t let herself dream.

hi krookodyke! we were once discussing whether lottie is supposed to be indigenous to reflect the ethnicities of her actors (and the not so great implications of that and the wilderness cult). anyway, I just saw an interview with simone kessel where she mentioned that she asked the yj art dept to give adult lottie a maori tattoo. I think that basically implies indigenous lottie is canon.

OH YES I DO REMEMBER THAT! it slipped my mind initially LOL. i thought that was super sick of simone to do, giving lottie a māori tattoo… so clearly lottie IS meant to be māori and not like first nations or indigenous american. in any case i hope we see more of lottie’s pre-crash life and her whole Family situation… not even just her but also the rest of them, i feel like we only have a good grasp of nat’s and jackie’s familial situation because i would argue their parents have the most screentime & significance (and for justified reason). A Scattered List of Yellowjackets s2e1 Takes

Between the Shaunajackie content and the Mistynat content I am THRIVING I am SO well fed

More specifically: I spent so much of that episode going OH NO, SHAUNA, NO. Still not sure how I feel about the adult!Shauna segments but the teen!Shauna segments were the highlight of the episode for me.

I'm so fucking glad Ella Purnell is still in the cast! I'm so shocked and horrified and delighted at Shauna hanging out with Jackie's frozen corpse. This is the exact flavour of unhinged that I want from Yellowjackets and from Shaunajackie specifically.

Misty is peak poor little meow meow here. I'm love her. Also: MISTYNAT REAL. One-sided at the very least!

Speaking of gay Misty moments: I ship her and Crystal. Is Crystal the reason she's so into musical theatre as an adult? Awwww.

I presume we're just retconning Crystal in but I am intrigued if there will be a reason given for why we've not seen her before? (I'm not complaining, tbc. I love her already.)

is anyone gonna talk about how most of the dead characters will consist of nonwhite characters on the show (yj) now or what? the treatment of minorities kinda suck right now. travis died in the adult timeline. adam (the mexican coded character) was killed by shauna. javi died in the wilderness. kristen 'accidentally' died by falling off of a cliff. misty killed that reporter in the first season. and all these talks abt mari dying and possibly akilah dying and im like...? if you gonna do that you'd at least have to really really write well for lottie and tai's characters when your main cast consist of predominantly white characters alongside a handful of 'dead' nonwhite characters.

the writers wrote themselves into a corner honestly but as ever it was and still is an opportunity for them to like truly build up the horror by connecting with who the characters represent whether they want to accept it or not because im like very convinced they understand who taissa and lottie could represent but they prefer not to touch it out of fear of coming off racist probably but the fact that they remaines neutral about acknowledging their race as more than a wink like with the scenes of taissa becoming a senator and she was the only main character of color, it's fucking insane that we're dealing with tokenism in 2023 because the writers aren't brave enough to simply ask input in their white story like tawny cypress who fucking loves horror and her craft is there, simone kessell too like these are not amateurs if they don't want to ask for writers of color in their writing room and meanwhile we have jasmine savoy brown asking for scenes with akilah and taissa because that shit isnt even being thought of, its fucking weird it's what it is, but leaving that behind the fact that fandom can be so vindictive without acknowledging that the story does request like actual critical fucking thinking of its pieces however superficial the text could be at times like that is something fucking requested of the damn text considering just what people clearly come for which is shauna and jackie like suddenly all nuance is there for them, gone the minute people ask to pay attentio attention to the imbalance of the depth and exploration of the perspectives of the characters of color in a survival setting as if it could ever be paired up so easily with whiteness even as kids, way before the teenage years, that shifts, and like fuck, the fact that we have been prevented from seeing tai's family? lottie's? even the other dead yellowjackets families???? what does that say of thr focus of the story and the failures of the writers to present a balanced story like the scale is rigged, it always is but even so obviously presented here as you are, all we get from white fans is apathy, like that doesn't mirror the cruelty that is being commented on one way or another....... sick shit no lies......

and it is been a few of my mutuals and some posts in the tags which have acknowledged it as such and for all that fandom claims that is a space to speculate and expand on the text, once again, true colors are shown and instead of trying to build on the characters of color, they continously pull them down, like mary, like kristen, like travis not even in the way the story did as a tool for her suffering, he's erased for convenience like fuck.... the story shows how much it took to dehumanize each other to that point and i know it's fiction like i don't fucking teach it for a living but in a story that asks you to see the humanity in their cruelty and reason and childhood, people in the tags and fandom spaces of this show find it easy to dehumanize who they deem less worthy for free like... girl look at the fucking text ffs....

All four have pointed towards and illuminated our path through life, they have enriched our understanding of ourselves, opened up a marvellous and poetic world, a new understanding of the universe, or, in a revolutionary sense, have led us towards a different kind of society that may be less unjust than our own.

2) How present is Spain in your ideological and cultural make-up?

As the earth that feeds and makes a tree grow. Although, culturally speaking, I owe a lot to France, because of my surrealist experience.

3) Eroticism and Catholicism are frequently joined in your films. What relationship do you see between two elements so apparently opposed?

Eroticism without Catholicism is only half the eroticism, because it lacks the sense of sin. I think it was Saint Thomas who said that, even for married couples in the Christian church, copulation was a venial sin.

4) Are you satisfied with Belle de jour? What made you choose Kessel’s novel?

What interested me in the novel was the conflict between the conscience of the heroine and her masochistic compulsions. I am never satisfied with my films.

5) And Simon of the Desert? We saw the film in Venice and liked it a lot. What have you done with the film. Do you intend to complete it?

I wanted to make it into a ten-reel film, but as my producer had already taken it to Venice, I abandoned that idea. Like other films I’ve made for Alatriste, the general public will get to see Simon of the Desert in ten or twelve years’ time.

6) What do you think of the ‘new waves’ in cinema today? Do they seem so ‘new’ to you?

Except for Godard, I don’t see anything new in the new waves. To my mind, the most human, the most vigorous new wave is happening in Brazil.

7) Have you seen The War is Over? What do you think of the film?

I haven’t seen the film. I will one day. I rarely go to the cinema.

Jo Evans & Breixo Viejo, Luis Buñuel: A Life in Letters

This! Everything you said is so true! Like from the beginning, I was kind of side eyeing the "other Tai" (as it's referred too simply) plot because it is so common in media to portray characters with some form of disassociation having a "split self" that only causes harm to themselves and others, painting in such a negative light all the time. I won't get into my opinion on the matter reference too much, as that's not my place as someone who does not experience moments of disassociation.

And it was obvious nearing, can't remember when exactly, a certain point in the show that how it highlights the inner rage of girlhood and "breaking free" from society it was mainly going to be from the perspective of the mainly white characters of the show. Because it is not easy for pocs, especially wocs to do so. They, especially black girls/women, are held to higher standards in society so much to the point where we have to, essentially, shape aspects of ourselves to fit in without stepping out of line, because of the consequences that follows. The consequences that would be much more severe for us, than our white counterparts. I'm happy, in some regard so far, that the show isn't too "realistic" to put lightly because there is no way that Taissa can be gone so long from office and other things without it being much of an impact. Likes there's no way.

And, as you said about the shows main black character having the "darker side" it plays into this very fully. This could just be my opinion but it very telling seeing people very afraid of "other Tai" and even so in the show, but when Shauna becomes aggressively violent and brutalizes a teen girl of color, it's framed as being necessary and when some fans talked about how it felt uncomfortable to see, especially with it only showing Lottie being beaten without her actual feelings involving the scene being taken into account, people make jokes from "why can't women let out their rage?" Nobody said that can't, but for most instances, it's only white women who get that luxury. And not even talking about how the show so easily brushed past this brutal beating without any mention to it in the future, save for Simone Kessel's interpretation of her character that's a blink and you'll miss it moment.

As much as I like Shauna as a character, it feels often times that her friendship with Tai is mainly about her and not Tai as well. Like I love their friendship, and their were small moments where it felt like Taissa could be the focus in their relationship, only for it to be gone the next. Like yeah, Shauna was within her right to be freaked out by the supernatural aspects and seeing things as "team Lottie" (which they weren't), but the show gives her the luxury of exposing her side to the argument all the while barely touching the surface for Taissa's opinion. She admits, softly mind you, that going to Lottie's and others group thing has been helping her and makes her happy, the audience is shown some of that, so it would have been interesting to see the show also explore more of her developing feelings towards it. This also could have introduced a storyline between Lottie and Taissa even more, especially as adults. If Tai admitted that it helped, and is comfortable enough to tell Lottie herself that she's having black outs again (not even telling Shauna, who we would assume she would considering they're friends) than that provides enough grounds for the audience to assume that they have some relationship, or are forming one. But the show quickly has her wanting to lock Lottie up in a mental institution only for Van to convince otherwise. Something is missing here.

I really enjoy Yellowjackets but the way it throws its poc characters to the side, the way the fandom does is so unsurprising but saddening at the same time. Shauna is one of my favorite characters, she's cool and stuff but, being honest, the trope of housewife having an affair because she's bored of her current life has been played before. So what if this one had certain elements outside of it, it's still common so it kind of grew tiring to see Yellowjackets constantly shove this plot at me when Tai's storyline is right there.

Taissa, a biracial woman who, even after living through something horrific as a kid, "bounced back" and lived the life she always wanted. She was a lawyer, now ran for and won a position in office, married a beautiful and smart woman and had a son, has a whole perfect family who she loves. Only for the trauma, the aspect of her life she promised herself and others to never talk about, is now coming back and in the process causes her to do things she doesn't want to do. The plot that could have come from Taissa alone is out of this world. You mean to tell me that a biracial lesbain running for office wouldn't be more entertaining than Shauna's storyline? Why couldn't Tai be the main focus?

And I don't even want to get into the fandom, but I have too. Listen, I like TaiVan for all that they are. They helped each other survive during a time where they thought it would be impossible. But what annoys me and, sadly, almost pushed me away from this ship, was how the writers and fans treat Simone and Sammy. Like the shows only way to have Tai together with Van was to put her wife in a coma and abandoned her son? That really does not sound like Tai, who fought to get her old life. And very insidious how some fans make certain jokes that just reek of "Let's push away the black characters to make room for the yte ones", because I've seen people call Simone the villain, to other things, just because she told Tai to get help all while framing Van as the better option. I've seen people in the fan call Sammy unnatural or even a demon just because he exists in a way that is not natural, by that I mean acting out and expressing coping mannerisms because he saw a version of his mother who terrified him but can't express, but I forgot because he's a little black boy who needs help people will ignore him or dehumanize him, because that's how this works right? The shows main, and only dark-skinned black characters were quickly pushed aside by the plot for what?

And I have a feeling the show may make us watch Taissa go through great lengths to keep Van alive (even though I do want Van to live), but won't extend the same want to Simone, which will read badly with the undertones in so many ways.

And the fandom treats Tai poorly as well (don't even get me started on some pretending to care about her family just to hang it over her head and call her a deadbeat) and reaching some nearly very ableist thinking when talking about her. Taissa deserved so much better, from the show and the fandom, and I hope they do better in season three but I'm not so sure to be honest, because most of the scenes even having mentions of Tai's blackness were because of Jasmine, not the showrunners, who it would be fine if it were small things here and there but to add so many crucial parts to your character because others won't begins to become a pattern.
