I guess I'm carrying on with this. I may wind up just posting things to Ao3, since the scenes are getting progressively longer and more involved and harder to cut off, but here we go!

He woke to the sound of sheep. He was five years old, and the Dunwittys' flock had come down from the hills and were standing on the bins to look over the fence. Soon, his mother would come into the room, and he would pretend to be asleep so she’d stroke the hair back from his brow and whisper that breakfast was ready.

Then the bed shifted beside him, and he was much older, on the far side of forty, His mother was an old woman, still in the same house, and the great-great-great-great-grandlambs of those sheep now stood on the bins to look over the fence. But the sheep that woke him now belonged to a wondrously boisterous woman who nicknamed him “Mads” when they met the night before.

He considered this confluence of his past and present, the boy he was, the man he’d become…or was becoming. Geri’s farm was nothing like the small town where he grew up, where sheep used to escape their pastures and bleat beneath his window. After so long in Dunedin, he didn’t realize he had missed the sound.

They had fallen into bed and asleep almost immediately, after a drive that took longer than Tāne thought, thanks to some misremembered directions and a smudged map. But it had been fun—Madigan found he didn’t mind being lost. It was a curious relief to not know where he was going.

Tāne flopped over onto his back, one ankle crossing over Madigan’s own. Also curious how easy it had become to sleep with someone else. Madigan couldn’t have predicted it, after a lifetime of narrow beds fit only for him. He’d never been lonely in them; they were compact and reassuring. But the few times in these past weeks he’d slept alone, the narrow bed had been narrower, and he’d awoken reaching for Tāne.

Hey there lovelies. This week has already somehow been pretty crazytown on my end, how bout yours?

I know a lot of you are going through it. I am so sorry it's so hard. This is just a gentle reminder that you are allowed to be upset, and you are allowed to be stressed or depressed. Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and it's okay to not be okay for a while. Please just remember that even when the darkest days are here, there is ALWAYS some light. Find some things that bring small bits of light to your life-- maybe a walk, or a special treat, a hug from a friend on or offline, or taking a moment out of your day to give someone a compliment -- whatever it is that brings that dopamine to your brain. Little things help train our brain to know that good things CAN happen, so exposing yourself to those little things day by day can help build what's sort of like a good things muscle. As more and more happen, the rough times become easier to tolerate because they are sprinkled with good things.

You are so very strong, and I know you can get through whatever you are going through. I know you don't feel like it, but you are, even when you feel your lowest. I believe in you, the crew believes in you, even if we've never spoken, we want you to be okay, okay?
