A Brief Interlude
I am still working on the first part of my study of C.S. Lewis’ Problem of Pain. I am not going to be able to produce something this week because of work conflicts so I was looking through my files, and I came across a post that I had prepared for a previous blog by the same name which I can no longer access. I don’t know if I published this post but it’s great to look back and see that life has…

Problem of Pain- A personal Study
I have been reading through C.S Lewis’ book The Problem of Pain. I really enjoy the book even though it causes me to reread several passages over and over again in order to really feeling like I understand them. I am going to start a series going through each one of the chapters in the book giving my take on what I have learned through this book. I want to release this series to my email…

Fear of the Lord
(This post began as another blog called Filling the Void, but I decided to put it here because I wanted stay with my original blog. I may make Filling the Void into a series or page sometime in the future.) As I approach the end of 2023, I am apprehensive about the state of the world. The world feels unstable as one event after another changes the world that I knew. International peace has come…

A Little Bit Older and a Little Bit Wiser?
Moving to Montana continues to be a great, God directed, challenge in my life. I love things about moving, and I hate things about moving to Montana. I feel like on the whole the move has been an improvement for me. I am three years older since the move. I know that people would say, “I am a little bit older and a little bit wiser,” or “I learned a little bit about myself.” I don’t like to deal…

Focusing on the Lord
Focusing on the Lord
I need to start out this article by confessing that I just don’t feel like writing anything today. It’s not that I have lost my spark or my inspiration. I believe that writing is a skill that needs to be maintained and honed. If I believed that writing was only about a spark or inspiration then I would have not written many of my best articles because oftentimes writing is hard. Right now, there…

A Meditation on Life
A Meditation on Life- Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
Previously, I wrote about my study of the book of Job. I felt that I expanded my understanding of my life by seeing that God is in control of reality and His plan for us. Recently, my reading through the Bible has brought me to Ecclesiastes which is one of the books of wisdom literature according to The Bible Project. I really enjoyed reading through Ecclesiastes for this reason: Ecclesiastes…

Rebellion of Wokeness
Colossian chapter 2:8-10 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. Listening to my podcast feed could cause a person to…

Narrow Path
To follow God we must be willing to go where He leads us, God leads us down a path that is hard, narrow, and full of challenges. When life gets harder and it feels like I made a mistake that can mean that I have made an error in judgement, or it could mean that I have followed the path that God set before me. This idea occurred to me recently when I was dealing with the fallout of another of my…

Doing the Next Thing
Doing the Next Thing
What a week it’s been for me! I feel like the week has become two weeks because the beginning of the week doesn’t seem to connect to the end of the week. The start of the week came when my wife’s tooth fell out on Sunday. Her actual tooth had been gone for a few years, and what fell out of her mouth was a veneer. The tooth veneer hadn’t given her any trouble in the past nor was there any reason…

The Storms of God
The Storms of God
It’s hard to believe that only a week has gone by since my last post. Many times in life, I notice that events that really stretch me and twist me around make time/life move slowly a week felt like a month, a day like a week, and an hour like a day. One of my kids brought a storm into our house that will not be leaving any time soon, and this child believes that this storm will sweep away all the…

Words Fail
Hello, I wish that I could have gotten back to my writing desk sooner, but I don’t control time nor do I have the mind of God with which to see all the possibilities. My last post was all the way back in July when I wrote to you about moving to Montana, and I had hoped that it would be only a small interruption in my writing schedule. I was naive to think that moving across the country wouldn’t…

Temporary service interruption
I am sorry for not posting something sooner, but as anyone who’s had to sell and buy a home will know it’s a lot of work. My family decided that God was leading us to move to Montana. God has paved our way toward Montana, but I have not had time to write or plan. I should be able to get back to my normal schedule by the end of August. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Briefing Bulletin #1- Truth and God
The Briefing Room is a room where law enforcement officers go at the beginning of their shift to get updated on all the latest crime reports and refreshers on policies and laws. I intend, with this series, to give quick overviews of some apologetic topics, and over time to go more in-depth with topics. I am a student learning how to better defend my faith in God and the grace of Jesus Christ. I…

Geek Dad Culture Hour #1- D&D for Families
Geek Dad Culture Hour #1- D&D for Families
If you never heard about Dungeons and Dragons you might have been living in a hole for the last few decades. To be fair, I am not saying that someone needs to have played D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) because, as I will cover, the game comes with  some uncomfortable elements that have caused the game to be quite polarizing. I want to start out by stating that D&D may not be for everyone, and that is…

The Hands of God
It’s been quite a year for all of us here on planet earth; “a very turbulent year,” describes my year since my last post. I have never experienced a year like this one where so many crazy things have happened. I’ve felt a lot of different emotions throughout the last few months. My opinion of the Covid crisis changes almost daily because of the shifting landscape of information, and my anxiety…

Unlikely Missionary
I have been reading Life Lessons from John: When God become a man by Max Lucado. I am studing John chapter 4 where Jesus addresses the Samaritan woman at the well. I had always thought that this event was about Jesus inclusive message of salvation. I hadn’t thought that John 4:1-43 was about Jesus sending out his first missionary from a very unlikely source.
Max Lucado wrote, “Talk about a woman…

Judge not...
Judge not…
Hello all, I have been lax in my writing for this blog. I have been very busy writing for Geeks Under Grace reviewing video games for them. It’s a lot of fun, and I appreciate the chance that God has given me to work with such a wonderful group of people.
Today, I was reading in the book of John chapter 8 when I came across these verses: 14 Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself,
