Not really? If exorcists are winners, it makes perfect sense why they can regenerate. They have the exact same logic like sinners. This is their afterlife and no normal mean can kill them(sinners for extra suffering, winners for extra happiness). Sinners can regenerate, it's only logical that winners can too. (and with no pain like it happens for sinners)
And cherubs are most likely like imps, so they are probably mortal(and no proper magic of their own), but who knows with heavenborns.
Agree to disagree then. His change in appearence was not pointed out by anyone at all. His size changed for convenience/mistake on screen, or to show him more vulnerable/mistake. No actual in-world change.
I think you kind of mix different kinds of powers xD Sinners come to Hell with some sort of innate magic to them(but I am not sure if ALL of them start with something, and develop something a bit lately). Like how Pent has hypno eyes on his body. Then when they become stronger, their abilities grow(hence Husk selling his soul to Alastor to not die and keep the abilities he developed outside of soul-powered from being an Overlord). And when they get souls, this gets them even MORE powerful. Body changes are given for that, it's their demonic powers.
Goetias and Sins are powerful magical beings, they can 'unleash' their magic and become bigger/scarier.
Lucifer has hidden demonic/angelic atributes which is one thing(which is a part of 'unleashing true form'), and then he can turn himself into an octopus which is another thing completely. Lilith in wiki was described to not have wings, but being able to make them if she wants. It clocks like a little shapeshifting, because wings are not natural to her form by the sound of it, but she can create them. Horns are natural to her form, so her changing their size/removing them is not shapeshifting, but controling her demonic form that was already there.
And it's unknown what kind of powers seraphim even have xD (Luci is a special case because he has powers of angel and demon at the same time)
Besides there are always spells, like huma disguise. A person might not have any personal magic, but can still do magic. Probably spells like that have physical form like portal crystals.
Man cannot wait to learn more about how hellaverse works!!
I like to think that exterminators are winners. They are akin to Overlords, given more power. But Heaven keeps their memories of their true origins away. All winners blood is golden, while heavenborns blood can be white. Lucifer has golden blood possibly because he is Fallen.
Also what if souls are not being erased? They simply lose their memories and maybe current form so everyone thinks they disappear. Reformed sinners' memories disappear too, but not fully, since this judgement resulted in different destination.
And what if reincarnation IS a thing in hellaverse? But for hellborns and heavenborns. They can become a human, a demon or an angel.
#hazbin hotel#sorry for being all nerd about it XD#i like to think about this world a lot <3#razzle and dazzle were created by luci#the big form is like their second form#i think the problem is that you call any appearence change a shapeshifting which is sort of true on some technical level#but usually thats not what 'shapeshifting' implies#it means a person changes to look like someone else or to look like any kind of creature#its 'no limits' or a specific rule which still means many forms#nimona is a shapeshifter all her animal forms are pink yet she still can turn into anything and anyone#bruce banner is not a shapeshifter even though he changes appearance because hulk is a one very specific His form#like yeah i get it one CAN call it the same way#it just creates confusion i think#because shapeshifter usually means 'many forms' or 'many parts'#not just one very specific

King Saul’s evil spirit, also known as the Ruach Ra’ah
I want to show some of the characters from my Saul retelling, The Book of Saul, and one of the major ones that take part of Saul’s life is Ze’ev, who is King Saul’s evil spirit but personified as a spirit always taking the form of a wolf in Saul’s visions.
I have yet to properly introduce him, but I will now lol.
I draw him frequently with Saul and I have a lot planned for him. He’s his own character instead of simply being the vaguely mentioned evil spirit that attacks Saul in the Bible lol. In the story, there’s some heavy lore that Ze’ev carries, and when he first actively interacts with Saul (right after being rejected as king), he becomes Saul’s conscience, and a guide, as he twists truths for his own benefit and amusement.
To summarize Ze’ev’s character, Ze’ev can be interpreted in many ways. He is basically the essence of Saul’s subconscious containing his deepest fears and regrets. Saul’s mentality will be reflected on Ze’ev who guides Saul, seeking truths he desperately yearns for, through 7 seven visions. No matter how hard Saul tries, he cannot escape the spirit always appearing before him. And also, those 7 visions are basically Saul’s hell with different truths revealed to him. Ze’ev finds so much joy in watching him suffer, yet he is able to have Saul always running back to him for help. Ze’ev knows very well that Saul has absolutely no one to turn to as he takes advantage of his helplessness.
As for Ze’ev’s appearance, he is usually a wolf, and there are two reasons why Ze’ev appears as a wolf. One being the tribe symbol for Benjamin, the tribe Saul’s from, which is represented with a wolf, and in the past I had called Ze’ev the “Wolf of Benjamin”, but I ended up changing his name lol. But the second reason resonates with Saul more deeply, where in the story, Saul is terrified of wolves due to traumatic experiences with them, and it comes off basically as a phobia Saul has (I believe the phobia for wolves is called “lupophobia”, that’s what Saul would have oof). But ironically, Saul is from Benjamin, and he’d be surrounded by wolf symbols as a benjaminite king ruling the place. And plus, Ze’ev is almost always a wolf, and if you recall what I’ve said, Ze’ev is the essence of Saul’s mind made up of his darkest fears and regrets while appearing in Saul’s visions.
I could literally go on and on about the evil spirit Ze’ev, but I would be crossing spoiler territory if I do loll.
But some small things about him: Ze’ev shapeshifts a lot, and his form is always moving in place. And he has a HUGE tail that constantly flows.
But lastly, this one means a lot to me lmaoo, but hear me out on this. When it comes to Ze’ev’s voice, I usually either have him speak with both a male and a female voice that intermingles at the same time (for reference, it’s just like Satan’s voice from that creepy Mark Twain clay animation movie. Look it up if you’re curious lol). Or, Ze’ev speaks as a distorted version of Saul’s voice.
Butttt, I can’t help but headcanon his voice as Will Wood when it comes to visualizing him in my head. Ze’ev sings as well (he sometimes sings to lure Saul), and whenever he sings, all I can hear is Will Wood. Ack, Will Wood!!! 🔥 And I know I’m being biased because I LOVE Will Wood (pls if you’re a Will Wood fan you gotta let me know 😭). But outside of the book, I imagine Ze’ev’s voice as Will Wood’s lolllll.
I already have a bunch of Saul and Ze’ev animatics planned, but if I do make an animatic/animation with Ze’ev, it’s going to be a Will Wood song.
#Ze’ev the silly demon wolf#finally dropped his lore lol#btw… Saul and Ze’ev have some chemistry together#book of saul#king saul#ze’ev#book rambling#bible fandom#tanakh#story in progress#sorry if I sound dead inside a lot has been going on also I haven’t slept#novel writing#character design#daveyart

unordered headcanon’s
some with explanations some not
Mr.mcprideypride definitely has either a dent or like minor swelling from holding his pen so often
Beel doesn’t actually spill crumbs or anything, I know the story says otherwise but I feel like he’s the kind of guy to eat a passionflakey without any crumbs (which is magic and horrifying to watch)
All of the brothers (-minus Satan) possess shapeshifting to a certain degree, Asmodeus is the best at it. (Based off of how some archangels in the bible can change forms by ‘possessing’ humans)
Solomon’s magic didn’t turn white from magic, or even was natural. It turned white from stress of undoing all of the magic he had previously done during his time used by the ocean spirits.
Levi is really athletic…. Under water. I just know he swims in that big tank.
Mammon is a good big brother to Luke, Mammon views Luke like a young Satan (if Satan had gotten to be a child)
Barbatos isn’t really a demon, he’s more akin to Satan in where his existence was created by an angelic power separating. The difference between Barbatos and Satan is that Satan’s was based of emotion rather then dulling and existing power. (Space and time, being separated into space, time.)
Solomon’s cooking isn’t actually bad. It’s not good but it’s not terrible. It’s like how cilantro is either good or tastes like soap, this is because of how accustomed the taster is to Devildom food (hence why Simeon and Luke find it disgusting while Raphael finds in good and Mc finds it… not poisonous…)
Before the fall Lucifer had much brighter eyes (I know canon says otherwise, but let me believe) now they weren’t bright pink but more like albinism on human eyes.
Levi has some form of rosacea that comes back no matter what he does, he’s really hygienic too.
Piggybacking off the last one, Asmo is weary of lending makeup to Levi because of how many products can trigger his skin. Asmo ends up making a custom line of products for Levi.
Lucifer isn’t half as mean as he’s portrayed in the game to his brothers. It’s like how most people are affectionately mean to their friends.
Lucifer… likes screamo music, at lower decibels. But he specifically only likes siren scremo.
Satan isn’t as biased to dogs as he’s usually shown. He finds them adorable, he finds almost every friend-shaped animal adorable, its more of a act to oppose Lucifer.
One time Satan made Hell’s Coffee for Lucifer and tried to put a ton of sugar in it. It was unpalatable because Lucifer could taste extremely bitter coffee mixed with sugary syrup.
Mammon usually always finds a way to make up for what he did to his brothers.
Monthly movie nights (In mammon’s room, why else would he have such a large couch)
Belphie has fallen asleep against Lucifer and Mammon more times then he’d ever admit, there’s something so comforting about resting on his eldest brother’s.
The brothers can feel when Mc commits their sin through their pact. Vice versa, And sometimes their human committing their sin is better then committing it themselves.
The sins are less of a part of the brothers but an overwhelming feeling to them, for example. Satan isn’t an angry guy, it’s just how suffocating wrath is. ( think of it less as a feeling they have and more of a aura around them)

same anon from the cryptid König ask. Person who started the 6’10 thing was his own voice actor (who is already a not so pleasant guy).
anyway. you want cryptid könig ideas? Oh bitch (affectionate) I have plenty.
1) most prolific Austrian folklore dude is of course Krampus, who is a specific character in his own right and holds connections to old pagan folk tradition. Mostly the deal here is about punishing people for being bad. Usually Krampus and the other adjacent folklore creatures of the same ilk (namely the Straggele) are depicted with big horns, shaggy hair and weird eyes. big weird goat dudes. this König would probably be a pretty old spirit. Would be fun if he was the reader’s ‘white whale’ of sorts, trying to get evidence of his existence, while he’s watching on with heart eyes.
2) of course, if we want to go more classic campy paranormal, there’s always classic weird fucked up ghost thing. sort of shadow monster creature style that has solidified into a dude who is definitely a regular guy don’t worry about the mist. The type of paranormal entity who’s creation is more complicated than a regular standard death. maybe his ghost-hunting afterlife is so he can figure out what the hell happened to him. maybe he just thinks it’s funny. don’t worry about the mist.
3) weird shit time. You’ve seen the könig with tentacles under his hood fanart trend I assume, and boy don’t I love a nice dose of eldritch with my monster men. weird shapeshifter sort of vibes. Dude in the woods who has maybe two many arms (it helps with his miniature carving, actually). He’s got most of the being human parts down well and can go to the grocery store. but sometimes he needs a second when sweet human offers to help patch a hole in one of his jumpers (because he might start growing feathers from joy). His eyes are a little too bright sometimes and his shadow a little too long but he’s just a regular guy!
rambling over. im a massive sucker for monsterous men.
Oh really??? Explains it. I mean the 6'10" will always have me laugh it is rlly ridiculous (especially when you see his character model near others)
I, embarrassingly, don't know how I forgot about Krampus. I have like a stuffed animal of him, I was JUST playing Wizard101 winter in summer event where he was there. I have greeting cards with him on it. I'm absolutely going to write that one for SURE in some way shape or form so thanks for the idea 👀
I'm also doing the second for sure. I was trying to figure out what kind of paranormal being he would be and I was thinking some type of shade or shadow creature. A being that lurks in the dark and can just be a glowing pair of eyes or something you see out of the corner of your eye before disappearing??? Sign me the hell UP
I love love love all of these ideas so so so much and I NEED to write them all eventually. They've been added into the queue of future things to do 👀 I can already picture it now
Whoever you are anon, I love your big beautiful brain and THANK YOU for the ideas. 💚💚💚💚 You're always welcome to submit any ideas you have for any monster men of the COD characters and I swear I'll write them

What is Zoolatry or Theriolatry?
Zoolatry is the definition to describe the religious worship of animals and animal spirits. It is probably one of the most ancient form of religious practices other than ancestral worship that occur among early humans (hunters and gatherers) worshiping animals they hunted and saw them as.
Zoolatry is practiced throughout almost every culture and religion in some form. Either worshipping the animal itself as the god/divinity is within the animal or animal associating of a deity. Countless of myths and legends and sacred rites include animals. This might look like the following examples:
Worship of sacred animals
Worship of Gods with or as animals
Animal Sacrifices
Fasting or dietary restrictions
Rituals and Ceremonies
Offerings
Animals can be the signs of the gods and goddesses or even spirits. Deceased love ones can send you an animal. For instance my grandfather who is pass leaves bird feathers for my grandmother to find. When I hear or see crows or ravens it’s Odin. Each animal can mean different omens and signs, whether it’s divination, mudane world, or in your dreams I.e a raven eating a dead animal can mean a lot of different things to certain people based on off socially and cultural beliefs but also personal beliefs as well.
The gods can be shape into animals or depicted as animals for instance in Egyptian religion and mythology the gods are usually depicted as human figures but their sacred animal as the head. Bastet’s animal is the cat, her head is the form of a cat’s head. Many cultures have animorphism for example Gorgons, Centuars, Satyrs, Werewolves, etc. the deity Cernunnos has deer antlers or a deer’s head and with the body of a man.
In Norse and Saxon sorcery it’s said that when a person practices Grandir (magic of primordial force) their spells are sending out in the form of an animal. Whatever their soul takes form is usually believed to be an animal. They also believed diseases and poisons are in forms of spirits but take forms as Nesso (snakes/dragons/worms) many charms to drive them away. That being said mythical animals can be worshipped and honored as well like Dragons, Unicorns, Cryptids (they’re essentially part of folklore), Satyrs/Fauns, Griffins, The Phoenix etc.
In witchcraft in general especially in the western world is believed that witches can shapeshift into animals like owls. Witches are also well known to have animal familiar which are allies of the witch during spellwork.
Animals in Your Practice
Depending on where you live and what culture you’re from and religion you will have a different interpretations of each animal. If you’re a Hellenic polytheist you might associate Owls with wisdom because of Athena, some will associate Owls with Diana with Magic and witchcraft it’s all on your own interpretation. It’s best to sit down and write about each animal that comes to mind here’s a prompt that I created for myself, “What does_____mean to me” the blank being said animal. It might come to you immediately some it will take some time. This list might help push you in the right direction! Witches have used animals and animal spirits for countless of things just reminder do it ethically if you want to use cat magic, use SHEDDED fur, claws and whiskers it’s more easier and less stressful to the cat. This goes for any kind of animal. But bones in the wild (you can purchase them as well) just make sure they’re very clean and you have permission from the spirit as well.depending on if you want to worship using animals solitary you can essentially make your own rules and sacred rites. You can use color associations as well for instance Black cats will mean different than Calicos or White cats.
This list is a starting point and an idea of how to see animals and their meanings. Some are how I see them but they also base on what the practices they stem from. I put deities that I found or associated with these animals to help with the meanings. It’s a really great idea to look up the associations of deity and animal for an accurate understanding of their meanings.I put elements to them for the same reason but you can mix it up if you want to if you see an element with an animal and you disagree feel free to replace it.

Narancia Ghirga - Monster AU Profile
Narancia Ghirga, a mischievous shapeshifter with reckless habits, undying loyalty, and a shaky sense of belonging.
Preface about species type:
This post will be introducing many polymorph-related vocabulary terms which will be included in the Monster AU 'dictionary'; you don't need to worry about getting confused, because I'll stick with layman's terms for the most part, I'm just including the more formal terms for fun and fake education. They are all words I made up.
Narancia's a bit of a special case; his specific classification is unknown, making him fall into the special category of tochnopolymorph (TOECH-no-paw-lee-morf), also known as a non-specific shapeshifter (NS3), or 'true polymorph'. There are many, many different 'breeds' of polymorphs, but they often have defining features, a true form, set forms, and/or a different classification (such as zooanthrope, selkie, Diego Brando, etc.).
Narancia, however, is one of the types that do not fit into a known further specification. Though he has a natal form (protomorph) that is usually assumed to be his 'true form', Narancia is versatile and does not have a 'true form' (as he's never defined one for himself), only a default; his default form is the same as his protomorph. He can change any physical aspect of himself to a certain extent and can transform into anything provided it isn't too big (as accumulating significantly more matter into his being spontaneously is not generally within the extent of his capabilities, and usually transforming beyond his own mass involves fucking around with internals and is just in general kind of really horrifying).
Note that the rules that apply to Narancia do not apply to all polymorphs, or even all tochnopolymorphs, necessarily.
His clothes stay with him when he shifts, but whether this means that; 1. his clothes are actually a part of his body, 2. he internalises his clothes when he shapeshifts, and then externalises them when he returns to human/protomorph or, 3. some other bullshit; is unclear.
Details related to Polymorphism:
His tail, which is somewhat feline, leonine, or heraldic unicorn-like, is prehensile, meaning it can grab and hold things. It can also extend and shorten at will, though it gets less bushy at the end the longer it gets.
He has tapeta lucida. His eyes are reflective when light shines on them, but they also seem to glow in the dark somewhat.
Could trans his gener in any way at any time he wants to. Except legally. He presumably generally doesn't. But he could. And if he does. It's none of our business.
Many of his theriomorphs (animal forms), such as cats and dogs, have black fur since that's the colour of his hair, and purple eyes, which is a risk to give him away, as the colour is unusual. When questioned about the giveaway, he says, "I'm a shapeshifter, not a fucking chameleon!" However, his ability to imitate other humanoids to a semi-convincing degree, including the all-around-pale Pannacotta Fugo, suggests there are probably other factors involved.
If given enough time, he, like most tochopolymorphs, can regenerate any sort of piercing damage (like cuts, stabs, and bullet wounds). Polymorphic regenerative 'invulnerability' reportedly "does not extend to fall damage"; and may not recover a major pierce through the heart, as they don't have the time to heal it because they are dying right fucking now!!
It's important to note that if something is removed, it would take significantly more effort to restore it, as it would likely require him to redistribute his remaining mass to keep his shape, so if he lost an arm, he'd have to sacrifice some height to restore the arm.
This is only a temporary solution, because even though this method allows him to retain his shape, his missing mass still should be restored, particularly because if it's not, then the arm will still be missing in protomorph, which is activated by instinct.
A lehkomorph, or simple formshift, is a shift into a form that isn't too different from the protomorph, such as Narancia's human-passing form(s). A vazkomorph, or complex formshift, is a shift into a form that's significantly different from the protomorph, such as most theriomorphs and animal forms. Impersonation transformations (simulaforms) are either-or depending on the case; transforming into a small child would be considered a complex formshift due to a difference in general structure.
It's hard for Narancia to maintain both a complex formshift and Aerosmith at the same time. When he retains an animal form, it can be a challenge to summon, control, or use his Stand ability. Whether this is a focus issue, a hypothetically common trait for polymorph Stand Users, or something else, it's hard to say.
Transforming into something too big generally leaves him very sore when he changes back, and he can be quite whiny about it, but, as you'll learn in a bit, the whining... may or may not kinda be warranted. Overuse of shifting capabilities is also known to commonly cause soreness and sometimes dislocations or deformations as the body forgets how to put itself back together properly. Shapeshift responsibly.
To properly redistribute his size, when taking a much smaller form, sometimes 'mass-carriers' need to be formed to store the extra mass less conspicuously; if he were to take a child form, he might have to form with longer hair or a "backpack".
Larger forms usually require the opposite - as gross as it is, a form that is significantly larger usually requires internal mass to be redistributed, meaning that he would probably externalise and/or compress his own organs, which is generally incredibly painful and often very unhealthy; this should only be performed in dire circumstances, and even then, should generally be avoided, because it can be life-threatening.
There is some leniency; Narancia taking the form of an inconspicuous kitten but transforming into a properly-sized humanoid form breaks this restriction, and there are other exceptions, though he generally tries to keep his mass consistent. Taking a smaller form with no mass-carriers usually results from mass-shedding, which can be done voluntarily but is unpleasant. Mass restoration is the harder step of the process, but usually is aided by eating. This is likely the reason that Narancia was able to regain his humanoid form once he’d eaten.
The current only known case study of one of the most horrifying shapeshifter afflictions: form decay! (Bi: Thanks a lot, Prosciutto. Really glad I had to be a part of that)
Though able to regenerate physical damage well, things such as illness, immune issues, and infection are a different matter, as they are things he is unable to control, and they can be very severe for him. He was susceptible, and it culminated in the eye infection.
Though he is a polymorph with no technically set form, his protomorph is very distinctive and suggests something more species-specific. In particular, most of his features appear feline in some capacity, his face especially, not to mention his mannerisms and body language, which are quite catlike.
There may be some implication that the frequent morphing contributes to jaw pain or discomfort that Narancia seems to alleviate by chewing, biting, or eating things he is really not supposed to have in his mouth—like he's teething.
Details about Narancia:
Has a bad habit of slinking around in the dead of night, going into other people's rooms and then promptly fleeing upon waking them up. Cryptid behaviour.
Smug, somewhat childish, and thinks he's SO cool with his shapeshifting. Look, just... let him have this
Likes to just slightly change his appearance to mess with people and see how long it takes them to notice as a prank. Usually, he does this with Mista because he knows he can get away with it. Fugo fell for it at first but when he caught on he started to get mad about it. Just because it's annoying and distracting.
He also used to impersonate Fugo just to mess with him, but it freaked Fugo out, so he stopped doing it because it stopped being as funny when Fugo was scared rather than angry. Narancia never figured out why it scared him so much. Fugo gets twice as freaked out about it post-Pompeii arc. For some reason.
Impersonating Fugo around the others worked at first, but they could usually figure out if it was Fugo or Narancia by speech patterns and body language. Even when he tries to speak like Fugo, Narancia's tone gives him away.
But also, to save time, if they look at the face, they can tell practically right away if it's Fugo or Narancia. Narancia has some form of prosopagnosia—face blindness—so he can never mimic the face quite right (short of copying someone's face while he's staring at it), and something always looks noticeably wrong. He generally distinguishes people by their hair, scent, and voice. He's not completely unable to distinguish the way someone's features look, so he can replicate them if he's looking at them, but as soon as he's not looking, he is unable to recall what someone looks like or recognise someone's face. He doesn't recognise Bruno with his hair down and sometimes struggles to recognise Mista without his hat on.
Absolutely touchstarved (e.g. desires cuddling and petting) but he's a bit awkward about it, especially when it comes to physical affection with other men (very 'no homo' vibes), although he is sort of willing to display physical affection with Mista more openly because it's a 'bro thing' (it is not a bro thing). To remedy this oxymoronic situation, Narancia usually assumes his cat theriomorph when seeking affection, in which he feels less weird about receiving affection and the others feel less weird about petting him.
Regarding the street kids Narancia used to run with before he got arrested, it's a fair assumption to make that they knew Narancia wasn't human and (whether themselves a pack of juvenile werewolves or just a group of humans) hung out with him like he was a more-or-less normal person, and that's why he wanted to run with them. They let him feel like he fit in, which is something he'd struggled with his entire life due to a lack of exposure to any of his own kind, leading him to be unsure if he could ever belong anywhere.
Because he could be anything and transform himself in any way, he wasn't sure that any identity he gave himself was really his or if he was just conforming to what other people wanted. He didn't know how to be "himself", but running with the street kids at least gave him something, a name for himself, a place to belong, maybe a role to fill that wasn't just 'whatever they need at the moment' (though he certainly did a lot of that). But "Bro" was mostly just using him because his shapeshifting abilities were really useful and really convenient for framing him.
Fugo happened upon a sickly, injured kitten on his way to Libeccio's one day. He picked the kitten up despite better judgement, having sympathy for the tiny creature, and, despite the biting and scratching that his poor arms sustained, brought the kitten to Buccellati. They gave the kitten a little bit of food, and when they left it alone in a room for five minutes while they tried to figure out what to do about it, they came back in to find a scruffy boy halfway fallen off a chair, and no kitten to be seen. The rest of Narancia's backstory proceeds as normal, except that Fugo goes fucking ballistic at him because he, a creature with complex cognitive function, fucking bit him!!! Voluntarily!!! That's so fucked up!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!
Giorno stole his gender and that's why he's canon lesbian of the day
Likes... being pet on the head... but will punch you in the jaw if you try. Unless he wants you to do it. he's very fickle...
Has a nasty case of undiagnosed ADHD and/or something else, probably made slightly worse by the fact he's inhuman and thus already has some pretty odd tendencies. Struggles to sit still, hyperfixates yet struggles to focus (particularly in an academic environment), has some sensory issues and has a severe need to be stimming in 90% of his waking moments. His favourite style of stimming seems to be spinning things, including pocket knives, pens, and Aerosmith's propellers. The way he spins pens shows a very very impressive dexterity.
Seems to always have about 12 pocket knives on his person at any one given time. You take one knife away from him and he pulls another out of his fucking shoe and shanks you in the gut. Allegedly has 3 knives under his pillow, as he warned Limbo.
Incredibly expressive. His lack of a definite form allows his body (especially his ears, in his protomorph) to reflect his expression or mood to a much greater extent than a human's could. In the case of his ears, it's very much like cat body language.
The ORIGINAL catboy. Step aside, True Catboy Ghiaccio and Semantic Catboy Tiziano! I don't care that hes not a cat!!! shut the fuck up!!!!!
he does hiss at people

A response to @feministfandomgeek ‘s comment; the response was too long to be a reply :)
This is a part of my Monster Town series. Part one can be found here
Most monsters can be categorized in one of these three categories:
Humanoids
Humanoids look identical or nearly identical to humans. Any powers they have maintain their form.
Robin- Ghost; when she “goes ghost” her general shapes stay the same, even though she’s invisible and can go through surfaces
Will/Johnathan- Banshees; when they scream, their scleras turn black and their irises turn yellow. Otherwise, they look the same
Glamorists
Glamorists have a generally humanoid shape, but with noticeably inhuman features. Because of this, they have to wear glamours (think TOH galderstones) to cover up. Glamour charms usually last up to 1-2 years, which means they must find a local witch to renew it (The more specialized to them though, the better) before it fizzles out.
Eddie- Witch; pointed ears, fangs (top and bottom), purple slightly-glowing eyes (color varies per witch, and is the color of their magic)
Max- Dryad; moth wing-like ears, blunt fangs, clear “blood” (sap), (if one looks close) bark-textured skin
Lucas/Erica- Vampires; pointed ears, dark claw-like nails, double sets of fangs (top only) crimson glowing eyes (color varies vamp to vamp)
El- Angel; large white feathered wings, halo light she can summon at will
Shifters
Shifters usually have two forms (but can have more) and can generally shift at will anywhere between any of those (depending on species-specific restrictions). Their monster form is considered their “natural form,” as if their human form is like a physical glamour.
If shifters spend too long completely in human form, they’ll spontaneously shift back to natural form, as well as other species-specific side effects. In order to stop this, many shifters will “half shift” to a humanoid form with monstrous features.
Steve; Siren- his parents coaxed him into a masochistic habit of “binding” his form to the point where he’s used to and doesn’t realize he’s unhealthy
Dustin; Werewolf- his mom formally taught him how to form shift, but Steve got him more comfortable with it and taught him half-shifting
Argyle; Shapeshifter- his human form is his natural form, with his second form being “the unknown”
Nancy and Mike are humans descended from Valkyries. Because of this, they have extra insight and can physically comprehend magic like monsters. Nancy is also really good at persuading people to tell the truth.
Because Hawkins is a monster town, Glamorists don’t need to wear glamours, and depending on their natural forms, Shifters can half shift or go fully natural without weird looks or persecution.

artblock hitted me harder than i thought, this (↓) took me nearly 3 months to do lmao anyways
idk wanted to visualise some hc's i have for some qsmp characters i guess (this is definitely not all i have in brain tho) (also, random code monster in a corner because i didn't have enough place for what i wanted and just decided to draw it separately later)
MORE DETAILED NOTES UNDER THE CUT:
Q!Cellbit:
• I really wanted to keep him as human at first, but well, i love giving non-human traits to my faves and cat really fits him guys I'm sorry my first thought about him when i started watching him is that qCell is a pathetic wet cat it was predestined really. Anyways, i noticed not many artists (the ones who catboy-ifying him. maybe its just a me problem tho) give him whiskers, so i gave him whiskers👍
• Gray hairs were a random detail i decided to add, but then i gave it some thought and honestly, his life was (still tbh) stressful - so i guess it works👍
• Made half of his hair (not even stopping at just head hair) white just because im extra sometimes. Like, i could stop at just one streak, but why would i do that?
• Got some of his shit together after being taken away by Feds and stopped looking like he is about to pass out from everything really. God bles love truly changes people👍 It doesn't change the horrific eye bags tho, they are never going away, saying as a person with eyes bags, those bad boys are the part of me at this point, so are they for him
• Burn marks are mostly on body, they haven't touched face all that much.
Q!Baghera:
• Okay, like i said, she's human-duckling shapeshifter - what that means, is that she can basically take any form ranging from just a normal human to just a normal duckling. Will point out - not a duck. Duckling.
• q!Baghs usually takes the form that is closer to human, but still has some duckling traits - because they are kinda looking cool and also like that water doesn't bother her nearly as much ig. 70% of her body is actually covered with down feathers - fluffye👍
• Now that i think, wouldn't she kinda easily float in the water? At least a bit? Because of all duckling feathers? Sick.
Q!Etoiles:
• Cucumber👍 Quite literally tho, he doesn't even have blood. Literally edible. Can regrow cut off limbs by sitting in a water for a bit. All that stuff.
• Idk who first thought of kintsugi scars for him, but this person is a genius.
• LEAFY HAIR! The flowers and tendrils are also parts of a hair and they glow! I love when glow!
• Idk, i love the idea of scarf going woosh, so i gave q!Et it👍 The yellow parts if it also glow.
• Star-freckles! Because why won't a cucumber man have star-freckles! Their glow mostly seen in the dark and they also blink.
Q!Tazercraft:
• q!Mike is a creeper hybrid with like 45% of creeper in him. The green parts are really patchy all over the body, and also fluffy. He doesn't explode often (nearly never, not enough creeper in him ig).
• q!Pac is a creature indeed👍 He is something alien-esque - fishlike, that's kinda all i can say. More importantly, he glows and can regulate that glow.
• They weren't always like that tho. They were humans for the most of their life, but something happened (I haven't thought of something yet) and now they are like that👍
• Deffo soulmates in a "they are literally bonded by an actual soul" way.
Q!Fit: (i dont have much for him and i watch him a lot lmao. I think with him i just follow canon ahah)
• One of the very few of actual just humans on the server

I've seen a couple of theories on what Sir Pentious could've been before he went to Hell, and while I personally don't have any theories of my own, I would like to point out a detail that, despite actually supporting most of the theories I've seen, is often neglected; his hat.
We know that a sinners demon form is meant to reflect/poke fun at the kinds of people they were when they were alive, the most popular example being Angel's families web of crime making them all spiders. There's also how Husk appearently(?) wanted to be a magician when he was younger but gave up on that dream as he grew up, only to end up with a demon form that makes him look like he's a magician anyway. I think Sir Pentious' hat is probably something similar. His hat doesn't seem like a physical part of him, but it DOES reflect how he's feeling at any given moment, even if he's trying to hide said feelings. Basically even if Sir Pentious had the best poker face known to man, you'd still be able to tell he's nervous because his hat would be a dead give away. We also see in the trailer + on the General Pentious card that his general hat *also* has an eye on it, meaning either his normal top hat can shapeshift, any hat he wears(that has room for it I guess) will gain the same eye as his top hat, or he just has multiple hats with eyes on them. This could mean that whatever he did when he was alive required him to lie a lot, or he just lied to people for fun or some shit who knows, and now that he's in Hell lying is a lot more difficult because he literally CAN'T keep a game face without his hat giving him away instantly. Plus, the fact that his demon form is a snake also lends itself to him being a pathological liar, as many people who theorize about him have pointed out, since cunning, manipulative people are often called snakes.
Like I've said multiple times, the most compelling theories about Sir Pentious' life and why his demon form is the way it is usually suggest him being dishonest in some way, and I guess this theory(?) is just kind of an extension of those lol. Idk I just haven't seen many people addressing his hat face and I wanted to throw my two cents in :)
#god the hiatus brain really is getting to me huh#I desperately need more sir pentious content so I'm just. picking apart random ass details in an attempt to get s o m e t h i n g out there#hazbin hotel#sir pentious#hazbin hotel theory#hazbin hotel analysis#gal overanalyzes random shit

hi Daebelly! I'm a big fan of your work as well as a huge science fiction buff and want to learn more about your world.
So Dae's a fertility goddess, but is she part of a larger species or her own thing?
What are the other inhabitants of this universe? Other species?
hi! ive been staring at this ask in my messages for a bit and ive been trying to work up the motivation to write so here we are! if you have any questions definitely feel free to dm me!
dae is just kind of her own thing! 'what species is dae?' is one or the questions i am asked most commonly so i'm not super shocked to see it here but i would say she fits into a wide variety of categories overall. deities work in a neat way in this universe so i'll write that down below the cut.
so, basically, the thing that distinguishes gods(or nebula-born, if you do not want to call them gods) from mortals is not a power level or anything like that, but the fact that they are composed of mana, not meat. effectively, mana is a dark matter-like substance in that it is not observable in most circumstances and is most common around sources of radiation, especially nebulae. it has rules, though, and can congeal like regular matter and form masses. if a mass grows large enough, it starts to form a sort of boltzmann brain, forming a nascent consciousness that can interface with other nearby mana 'brains.'
eventually, it finds something that interests it or that it has aptitude with, and will explore its relationship with it. over time, while also accumulating more mana to boost its processing power and capacity for intelligence, the nascent consciousness begins to form boundaries with the world around it, defining its sense of self and gaining a physical form, the shape of which is to its choosing. when it is happy with its physical form and the amount of mana--translating to magical power--it has, it becomes corporeal, a fully formed god. this method of formation means that gods rarely have just the one form and can choose several, being shapeshifters in their own right.
now, most gods form with a lot of power and control over their domain. dae is what you get when this process is botched, with a sense of boundaries established and a physical body created before an adequate understanding of ones' domain is acquired, as well as taking less time to accumulate magic before becoming corporeal and ceasing to accumulate it naturally. the result is a goddess that has some control over her domain but has flareups of power, lower general magical ability compared to most gods, and, in many circles, a reputation as a bit of a failgoddess, which she fit pretty well overall given that she's altogether not very outgoing, content to push out litters, get high, nerd out, and cum a concerning amount even for a fertility deity.
as well, because of this method of formation, dae is canonically trans! she had to do the usual transition process before her control over her domain grew such that she could make her testes generate estrogen, with her insisting that they're called estres now. she stopped short of changing her voice because she likes having a deeper, rather husky voice.
as for other species, there are a few, and i'll go over them very briefly.
soterians (so TEAR ee uns); an aquatic race of rather bulky leviathan-like creatures, hailing from a planet that was once a ravaged ecosystem, evolving to gorge themselves almost nonstop on an invasive fish that previously dominated their ecosystem
ozkvin (OSK vin); a species created by stationaryspoon/@eitantree and myself; the descendants--indirectly, through DNA injection-based transformation--of an ancient race wiped out by its star's supernova, prone to random mutations and rapid, extreme pregnancies. eusocial!
sekvanto (sek VON toe); a species created by dae, which started small and gradually grew to be quite numerous due to their inherited fertility. once the default for what she'd birth, but no longer. two head tentacles, a sharp snout similar to dae's, multiple sub-eyes to help with peripheral vision, and tall stilt-like feet. bears the mark of Dae in a random place on their bodies.
gvidanto (gvee DON toe); another species created by dae. far fluffier than the sekvanto, with softer details overall; quite rarer as well. the species of her first and primary worshipper, Sedett. born without eyes, but blessed with magical sigils of sight if they so desire. bears the mark of Dae typically over where their womb would be, but there are exceptions. generally proficient with sigilcraft, the practice of inscribing magically charged sigils personal to each gvidanto to act as enchantments.
yvvs (ihvs); semi-humanoid amphibians with gills, four sexes, an extremely planned civilization, and a wealth of technological knowledge that they rarely find the need to put to use due to their planning. known to be nudists, but largely because clothes were never all that useful underwater for them.
xeiskenn (ZAYS ken); if you've seen my cock transformation content with my sona, it's pretty close to that. a symbiotic intelligent species that supplants your reproductive system and your tail, if you have one, in exchange for access to their inborn magic resistance, as well as their own aptitude with magic. rarely seen, but impossible to miss. how they evolved is a mystery, but some suspect the involvement of a god of promiscuity long ago.
and thats my infodump for tonight!

list of abaddon's abilities u_u
● telekinesis. abaddon has amazing telekinesis. he can throw multiple cars at once, demonstrating the telekinesis' strength, he can push people with it, asphyxiate others, amongst other telekinetic things.
○ telekinesis weaknesses: it's possible for his brain to "overload" when overusing it, thus he could suffer a migraine that temporarily prevents further use.
● flight. because he has wings, duh.
○ flight weaknesses: it'll EVENTUALLY get tiring flapping those wings all the time. though any human is more likely to tire out long before abaddon does.
● superstrength. in a way, that is. abaddon is stronger than any human. his body parts make him even stronger - such as his talons, which are sharp enough to tear through flesh with ease. his fangs possess the same sharpness, too. hence why abaddon (once) loved eating humans so much, with his body features, it was very easy for him to eat somebody.
● lack of a heart & lungs. technically, abaddon possesses both a heart & lungs as jin needs them. but one abaddon takes over, both his lungs & heart cease function. this is also why abaddon turns a pale color, and why his skin is cool to the touch. but because his heart doesn't beat, abaddon never has to worry about overworking it, he also never has to worry about catching his breath. if he could reach it, he can easily venture through outer space without dying. he can also stay underneath water for a impossibly long time.
● hellish abilities. abaddon is blessed (or cursed) with the gifts from a god (azazel), therefore, he's capable of divine power. he uses dark energy for multiple purposes, manifesting weapons (such as swords and chains) as well as taking all that energy, and using it as a bomb (to quite literally explode people)
● heat lasers. his "third eye" can generate heat, which can then shoot out as a "laser". if somebody is hit with this laser, it hurts, a lot.
○ laser weaknesses: it's painful to have that much heat near the brain, every time abaddon fires a laser, it stings his brain a bit. if he shoots too many lasers, the pain will temporarily prevent him from firing more. this pain, however, is usually very shortly lived.
● disguise. technically. because abaddon can take away all his demon parts, and presume an appearance of a human. meaning if he desired to, he can look exactly like jin. no weird arms, no horns, no wings, no marks, no bright eyes, no pale skin. just like jin. this means he can start his heart again if needed. this is what he did during his reign of the zaibatsu.
● shapeshifting. this ability ONLY APPLIES TO HIS & JIN'S MINDSCAPE. abaddon cannot shapeshift physically, but in his & jin's spiritual world, abaddon can shapeshift into whatever he pleases. he can alter his appearance, or he can even take the form of anybody else (including people jin knows & loves). he can also change his size, make himself a giant, or make himself hamster size. abaddon would do this often to mess with jin. since purification, abaddon doesn't do this much unless jin wants him to or gives an ok.
#👿 - ᴀ ʜᴏʟʏ ᴡᴀʀ ᴡɪᴛʜɪɴ // (study)#// i feel there miiiight be something i'm missing here?#// but dunno ~#// i'll add more to this if i remember anything xD

Thoughts on dragon biology for the au and how some characters differ from each other physically speaking?
Glad to elaborate!
So, dragons in all of my aus are extremely diverse-- fur, feathers, scales, fins, manes, tusks, etc-- nothing is really off the table when it comes to their genetics.
(more below the cut because this is getting really long)
(Rhombus of Ruin spoilers down toward the bottom)
(also cw: traumatic events and mild body horror mention at the bottom)
Dragons, as mentioned in my initial post about this au, can shapeshift -- primarily human and dragon forms, but some (like Ford) can change into a wide variety of creatures. But most forms will keep parts of the dragon form-- such as fins, horns, spikes, that stuff.
Genetics of course vary between families and individuals. For instance, the Aquato dragons are very aquatic with many fins and streamlined bodies. They have larger wings with membranes that extend down the hind legs to aid in swimming, their tails having large fans to propel and steer underwater and in the air.
Meanwhile dragons like, say, Milla-- those are more mammalian with fur that ranges from thick coats to thin coverings like Sasha. Milla herself has hooves that resemble a deer or goat, and she has whiskers that can help navigate in a tight spot.
The Zanottos are more avian in appearance, with snouts that end in beaks-- feathered wings, spikes down their backs, and actual manes of hair. Lili took a few more aspects from her mother-- having whiskers, fins down her tail, and hooves on her back legs. Truman and Bob are both very avian.
Then there are wyverns like Coach Oleander. No forelegs, and stronger back legs. They're typically smaller than average, and don't usually have the fins or fur that most other dragons have. Extra horns are very common with them as an extra defense due to their small size and weak attack strength.
When it comes to human forms, there are two variations-- indistinguishably human, and hybrid. Dragons can look as human as you or me to fit in, with no hint toward their heritage unless they willingly show you. Then there's the hybrid forms, where extra things like horns, back fins, claws, fangs, and eyes match that of their dragon form. Most also keep their wings and tails in this form.
They're fascinating really, something I like brainstorming about and planning.
Speaking of brains, let's take a stab at our favorite Dr. Loboto...
We all know how he got how he is -- a detrimental lobotomy at a very young age. But how does that translate into dragons?
Believe me when I say I've put a lot of thought into this. After a lot of debate, I've settled on a painful but very fitting appearance for our deranged dentist.
At first the lobotomy didn't seem to do anything but take his magic away, but as he aged up he started to change-- morphing into a very painful gruesome mid-way point between his dragon and human form. The pain was enough to drive him even more mad.
He can shift into his full dragon form or full human form, but only under extreme stress or extreme calm-- both of which are kind of difficult to achieve with how his brain works. Dragon means stress, human means calm and comfortable. Unfortunately, he's always halfway between those.

DS9 4x10 Homefront and 4x11 Paradise Lost thoughts (I’m re-watching, so beware spoilers for future episodes!) [2 July '23]
"Dax is the most humanoid person I know." XD
The Siskos' relationship is so important to me :3
Not vegetables wait takes hee hee
Miles' and Julian's attempted London accents XD Miles' is better than Julian's though which is hilarious given Julian's dad had that accent
Quark was a ship's cook once? interesting
Quark's "Humans. All you care about is yourselves." is kind of true though - yes, Ferengi values are different, but that doesn't mean Quark's feelings weren't similar
Anyone I can look up for you "Uh no.. No." That's the perfect response, given what we learn about Julian's family later on.
"I don't believe in luck... but I appreciate the sentiment." Odo <3 That's quite sweet
I love the Klingon beliefs - killing their pwn gods is the most Klingon thing
Acting head of security! :O Is Layton a changeling?; Who wants to get Sisko off DS9? I cannot rememner!
"When are you gonna stop growing?" Not yet, Joseph, Jake's still shooting up!
"Nathan, the usual." This is so cute that Nog is already part of the extended family <3
"They call it the academy but what it really is is school." Nog!!! You knew this?!!!
"I am a good guy to be around, aren't I?" Jake and Nog are the cutest friendship, I love how easily he restored Nog's confidence <3
Nog just being like "I can just ask Captain Sisko for a favour, why not?" - he's really good at going after what he wants unapologetically.
The fact Sisko just tenderly kisses his dad is very sweet, I love how gentle all the Sisko men are
"I had a talk with your doctor." That's a violation of doctor-patient confidentiality, surely?
"They don't all share Odo's lack of skill when it comes to mimicking humans." Ouch
"This business has got you so twisted around you can't think straight." Well, yes... shapeshifters are tricky.
"If I was a smart shape-shifter, a really good one, the first thing I would do would be to grab some poor soul off the street, absorb every ounce of his blood, and let it out on cue whenever someone like you tried to test me." Joseph is serving the real facts - this has already, presumably, been done by the Martok-changeling.
"It's like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders." "He is." Jake knows what's up, bless him. 4x11 Paradise Lost
"I'd hate to see the members of Red Squad get into any trouble." Sisko can just be so cool under pressure.
"I'm not lying to you, sir." This cadet has balls - it cannot be easy to stick to your guns when Sisko's laying into you like that!
It's weird seeing a changeling so open about what they are, taking the form of O'Brien just because they can, but not actually pretending to be him.
Hah, Sisko has the same laugh as Jake! "And dated her for three years" haha
"I never knew it was so easy to break into classified Starfleet files." "Everything I know I learnt from Quark." I'm.. really not sure what to make of that admission. Makes sense though - Quark's presumably been doing it for far longer than Odo? Hmmmm
How did they change Sisko's blood for a changeling's?! Is Benteen a shapeshifter?
Uggh, Sisko, why tell Layton your plan? That's always a bad idea! Unless you're recording this to use against him?
"They've been told everyone on the Defiant has been replaced by shape-shifters." - You're willing to risk the lives of so many Starfleet officers, Layton?! That's when you know you're the bad guy!!
"I only wish I'd taught you more about the importance of loyalty." "You want to talk to me about loyalty? After you broke your oath with the Federation, lied to the people of Earth, ordered one of our own starships to fire on another! You don't have the right." Sisko!!! ❤️
"I hope you're not the one making the mistake." For once, I agree with Layton - God, I hope you're not the one making the mistake here, Sisko. I don't like Layton... but he was fighting so hard for earth in his own way, he's so sure this will end badly. I just don't know.

3, 4, 5, 7, 8 for the dw ask!! you dont have to do all of em i just like options :]
Thanks for the ask!
3. What’s your least-favorite moment with your favorite doctor? Ah yes, favourite Doctor. The ubiquitous question in the fandom that is nevertheless rather hard to answer. Because making choices is hard, I'm going to refer to both the Fourth (my first Doctor, and the one who I usually mention in response to this question) and the Eighth (lives in my head rent-free at all times) Doctors as my favourite. With that being said, it is hard to recall a really unpleasant moment with the Fourth Doctor, besides some uncomfortable moments in I believe Talons of Weng-Chiang regarding imperialism. The Eighth Doctor moment that I really dislike is when he's being outright mean to Charley in Scherzo. I love Scherzo to bits, but I don't enjoy listening to the Doctor when he's like that.
4. Who’s wardrobe would you steal? Early Eight. His scruffy Edwardian gentleman vibes are excellent. I'm definitely a big fan of velvet coats and lots of pockets. I think the Doctors all have excellent fashion sense, although I don't have the confidence to pull off some of them.
5. If you had to take the form of one non-humanoid alien permanently, which one would you chose? This is probably a copout answer, but Whifferdill. Whifferdills are shapeshifters who appear mostly in the comics. Frobisher, the Sixth Doctor's companion, spends his time LARPing as a talking penguin.
7. Which doctor is not necessarily your favorite but is the doctor you’d most like to travel with or the doctor you think you’d get along the best with? I think Series 10 Twelve would be fun. We could dismantle capitalism together. I also like the relatively chill relationship he has with Missy. The two of them would be fun to hang out with.
8. Which villain actually scares you the most? The recurring Doctor Who villains usually aren't that scary, but the Cybermen in Spare Parts are. I can't recommend that audio enough. The only times I can recall being properly scared while watching Doctor Who are as a child watching a couple of Classic stories. Eldrad Hand of Fear isn't particularly frightening himself, but the threat of nuclear meltdown definitely is. Wirrn Ark in Space is pretty scary conceptually (giant space insect eats you from the inside out while you go feral and kill your friends), but the Wirrn is made out of bubble wrap. Classic Who my beloved. There's probably a couple of audios I'm forgetting. Big Finish is a bit better at doing scary stuff, since they don't have as many restrictions and aren't bogged down by silly effects. Hmm. Horror in Doctor Who might be an interesting topic to write more about.

as a dog nerd who also writes a dog muse... Delta is written as a very anthropomorphized dog, meaning I apply human characteristics into how I write her.
fun facts, though. a lot of people anthropomorphize animals, especially dogs, and this is very harmful to them because we create these fantasies that they are "just like us."
but the truth is... (continued under the cut, VERY LONG POST)
dogs don't smile. a dog that is panting is either hot, tired or exhausted, dehydrated, or stressed.
dogs don't do things out of spite. they don't pee on your floors to make you mad, they don't chew up your stuff to make you mad. there are many reasons why a dog does these things and none of those reasons are spite. they are simply incapable of such complex emotions.
dogs do not understand hugs and kisses. sometimes, you'll hear of a dog who bit someone and the circumstances were "they just wanted to love and hug the dog." some dogs do not like to be restrained, some don't like to have your face in their face. they don't understand that you "were just loving them." they only understand that you invaded their space, disrespected them, definitely ignored their warning signals, and then restrained them, and that's why they bit. not with intent to hurt, but to correct you on your rude behavior.
body language is very important to me when I write my animal muses or my shapeshifters in animal form, because even though they do have that human-intelligence, they will still have those other more animal-like instincts. so it's important to me that I do my best to portray that in my writing.
random fun fact; wolves are actually much more expressive in their body language than dogs are!
but on the topic of body language, and I'll specifically be listing things for dogs as Delta is a domestic canine, but many of these things will apply to my other muses as well.
Delta may be an anthropomorphized dog, but she will still use her body language, and do not kid yourself... She WILL bite you if you ignore her warning signals for long enough. Not to hurt you, but to correct you. A scolding. You know? Kinda like when you tell someone to "fuck off."
When reading body language, it's important to read the whole picture, as many signals overlap each other.
examples but not limited to: Submission, curiosity or otherwise conveying she does not want conflict: - lowering head - looking away - ground sniffing - sitting or laying down - offering space - turning away (to the left or to right rather than directly approaching) - moving slowly - ears relaxed, one ear back or both ears moving back - softer or non-aggressive vocalizations - laying and rolling over on back - tail relaxed - yawning - head tipping - relaxed or friendly facial expression - loose and relaxed muscles - sneezing - tail wagging, favoring the right side
Uncomfortable or fearful: - looking away - creating distance - turning away - tail tucked between legs - stiff posture - panting - tail wagging, (slowly) favoring the left side - freezing in place, tensed muscles - tight lips (lips thinning into a straight tense line) - blinking more than usual - growling, snarling, or barking - grumbling - moving slowly - showing teeth - pinned ears - hackles (fur) raised - lip licking - yawning - scrunching up nose - air snapping (biting at the air near the source causing discomfort) - cold stares - tail flicking - whale eyes (the white part of the eye is showing)
Aggression or Intimidation: - tail flicking or flagging (meaning the tail is sticking up) - showing teeth - growling, snarling or barking - lunging without actually attacking - scrunching up nose - ears alert or pinned - tensed muscles - hackles flared - head low or head held high - cold stares - air snapping

OKAY BUT I HAVE THOUGHTS ON WHY SHAPESHIFTING IS LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY THE BEST SUPERPOWER BESIDES THE TRANS REASONS. GET READY FOR A MINOR ESSAY
So first of: Shapeshifting has many different variations. So does the rest of these. Flying can be just hovering to wings to basically telekinesis. Teleportation is a science on its own. You get it. But for the simplicity and sake of it we can assume this poll refers to them in their purest truest version of themselves. So whats that mean for shapeshifting and what are the alternatives?
First of we got the most popular variation of shapeshifting, and arguably the weakest, what I like to call the Chameleon Variation. Think the typical changelings. Mystique. Changelings in dnd. That sexy lizard from She-Ra. The ability to take on the appearance of other people, but nothing else. The furtherest in ability changing this does is that if you shift into someone with other physical abilities than you, like being more athletic or being able to sing, you might be able to mimic those (granted you have the knowledge to utilize those abilities) (Note: this is usually limited by your own biology, so even if you change into someone with super strenght you dont necessarily get super strenght, just more muscles. And that is IF you even get stronger at all). This variation is only looks. Camouflage. Outside of the benefits of looking differently, you do not get anything out of shifting (or only something minimal).
The second variation are Form Changers. These are the ones that have a determined set of forms they can change into, with very little flexibility in terms of mixing and such. These forms each typically have different utilities and powers on their own, but very rarely do you get access to both. The list of forms can increase or decrease, depending on what the plot wants. Popular examples of this is Werewolves from Everywhere, Ben 10, Beast Boy, Vampires (sometimes), Zoan Devil Fruit users in One Piece. Your shapeshifting is easily defined as "Youre either form A or form B. No inbetween". The rare occassions there are "inbetweens", those are typically treated as seperate forms.
Third variation are the Utilities, normally also the Partial Changers. These are the shifters that can shift parts of themselves to fit specific needs. They got limbs that can become tools, or they can just harden their skin, and so forth. This variation is kind of a gray zone, as there are a lot of powers that can fit into this category without being explicitly shapeshifting. Think Kevin Eleven from Ben 10, Kirashima from BNHA, Human Torch. Theyre technically doing a shapeshift to some extent, but normally their regular form is still distinguishable, and they just added something to make a particular situation easier. I also like to see this category as the half shifters. Theyre kind of it, but also not.
Basically every super power has some form of variation similar to this, different ways the power manifests and different rules to how it works. This is developed so that you can have a roster of characters with basically the same superpower without them being the exact same. But the rawest form of the power, the pure form that is the entirety of the power, can (most of the time) do all of the variations to some extent.
True shapeshifting, however, can do all these variations, and so much more.
True shapeshifting, in the definition that ive developed over the YEARS that ive had this thought, is simply true self control. You can control the shape of every aspect of your own body at any given time. Down to at least a molecular level, if not atomic or even subatomic. You determine the material of which each minuscule part of your body is made of, as well as its shape, at any given time, all the time. Now this might sound like a lot of effort, which it is, because no great power would be great without some work being required to it. So let me walk you through just how to make this power great.
So you discover you have the ability to fully control the molecules in your body. First of you need to figure out how to Stay In Shape, literally, and not just dissolve into slime all the time. This is easy part, but the most necessary as it will need to become second and first nature for you to function. The second step is figuring out how to do the basic other stuff. Id recommend learning about human anatomy and physics for this. As well as chemistry. Expect that to master this power you need to be an expert in the art of being a girl in STEM. Change the material of your skin to be sturdier. Figure out how to change your appearance. The simple stuff everyone wants to do with shapeshifting. Try to grow and shrink in size. Now this point is where its getting interesting. Because, true shapeshifting gives you the ability to control how the material of your body is built and how that looks, but it doesnt give you the instant ability to just. Create or destroy mass. So, even if you grow larger, or shrink, your mass is still the same. If you weigh 100kg reguarly, you still do even if youre now 5 meters tall. And the same goes for being 1 meter tall. Youre just more or less dense.
SO. How to fix this? Easy. Add more mass. Figure out how to fuck around with eating so you gain more molecules to work with. Doing this enough will grant you the ability to grow to incredible sizes. But this also creates a problem. The added mass doesn't go away, so eventually youll start cracking the concrete on the street by putting several tons of pressure on the point of Size 40 shoes. Thats not very good for your enviorment, especially not if you want to be sneaky about your powers. How do you solve that?
Easy answer: Gas. Just become gas. Your body is still your body no matter its material, and if you can control your own blood flow why can you not become a cloud. Just disperse a large part of yourself in the air around you. And guess what? The adding of mass and fucking around with how your body works mightve given you a lot of physical powers, like super strenght, endurance, size changing, some super speed, etc. But now? You basically have telekinesis as well. Think about it. If your body is the physical meat suit that everyone sees, as well as at least 50% of the air in a 100 meter radius, you can just. Shove things around. Without noticably touching them.
At this size you might also need to figure out more effective ways to add mass than eating. Like just absorbing large swats of material. And when you do, whats stopping you from just absorbing everything around you and just letting it be what it is. Congrats! You can now become a planet! And for everyone on that planet, you might as well just have reality warping. Not that it matters unless you want it to, because you are also those people! Try not to go insane from the potential hivemind you accidentally created.
Now you could easily stop there, or you could easily (but slowly) start sending pieces of you out into space and eventually absorbing the galaxy and beyond.
And with that level of mass under your control, you can simply do whatever you want. You are literally a god now. Any material is yours to control and you can do whatever you want. If there is any power that can sneak its way into higher planes of existence, its true shapeshifting.
If you remove the limiters commonly placed on shapeshifting as a power, someone is eventually just going to become everything. And to be fair, it makes sense that all shapeshifters are limited to not do that, because that would just make them too overpowered and that wouldnt be fun narratively. But it is funny that the argument that you could make as a child that shapeshifting can get you any power because "ill just turn into someone with [Insert power here]" is literally true. Oh universe ending level of threat has appeared? I either spawn a black hole on them or Become Them. Get assimilated idiot.
#i think about this frequently#the only ability that seconds this really is super speed#and i dont think i need to explain that you can just logic your way through that
