Seriously it pisses me off so much some saying Rayla is ruined or OOC in arc 2‚ mostly because two reasons:
1- her character core was never about her physical strenght or being a badass. It was about self worth issues‚ love and opening about emotions. Seriously how do you watch the series and come to the conclusion that her being a "slay queen" is her biggest personality trait? She has always been an awkard disaster‚ just more open about it now. Also her strenght hasn't disappeared you know?
2- if you get angry at this kind of character development don't go around saying you want complex female characters. Just admit you want girlbosses that like breaking men's skulls‚ being sincere is not that hard.
Arc 2 Rayla is a blessing and some people don't deserve her (inside and outside of the show) and If I see more slandering comments in her next bday post I'm gonna get rabid btw

I have no real desire to get involved in ship wars (And really, this isn't about shipping), nor do I want to argue over what I would/wouldn't like to be canon. I stick to enjoying what I enjoy with fellow freaks on the internet and leave everyone else to it...
But I must admit, it's slightly disappointing to read some of the takes disguised as feminist when in reality, they are arguably quite harmful and seemingly rooted in misogyny which are being shared around.
Women being in love does not "cheapen" their stories.
Women can be powerful characters and still be in love.
A woman being in love does not make her weak or any less powerful.
Women can be fully-fledged, powerful and 'badass' characters and still be in love.
If you think a 'powerful' woman having a romantic relationship makes her weak, it kind of seems like because falling in love and romance are seen as feminine, you actually just think a woman's femininity makes her weak...
I really wish there could be an acceptance that women can be both strong, powerful, intelligent and in love. Women do not have to choose, in life or in fiction. And there is rarely the same attitude when it comes to male characters. I never see anyone say that being in love would make a strong, independent man weak.
Anyway, I personally think that female characters who have been through horrible things deserve a happy ending and it does not weaken them to allow them to have a romantic partner. Being strong is exhausting and having someone there when they need a break after a busy day of being a girlboss is totally understandable, healthy and acceptable.
In conclusion, let powerful women fall in love!!!

people who act like romance in popular media is Dead and talk seriously about how this is a Widespread Problem across Most Shows and Films of the modern era, necessitating a Brave Crusade to Bring Back Romance and Let Characters Kiss are sooooo deeply unserious i'm sorry. i have to laugh.

Reading the Dune series right now. Idk how or why but these books are somehow simultaneously the most and least feminist thing I have ever read.

why i don't like amy pond: if we follow moffat's logic, guns are bad but domestic violence is ok (as long as the perpetrator is a sexy woman)
she cheated then called rory an idiot because he had doubts about their relationship (i mean... shocking?)
she's written as such a badass character but is literally always in need of saving/passed out in some man's strong arms
she has no compassion. she literally said "rory no offense to the others but could you let them die first" and it wasn't a fkn joke and even if it was, who tf says that in a situation where multiple people are gonna die to protect u and ur baby
she and river keep slapping their men for no fkn reason like it's funny (sorry but it's not. if it were the other way around people would make a scene)
she flirts with herself (all she's good at tbh) (i wouldn't have a problem with her flirting with herself if she had redeeming qualities of some consequence but. girl have you met yourself)
she's nothing more than a surrogate for the storyline, not a real character. things just happen to her because they do, and that would be ok if it was done like with donna. cause donna had a personality outside of hating and making everyone around her feel bad yk. but amy is just there, not likable, and on top of everything she usually doesn't really do anything (that's probably why my fave amy episode is the beast below cause it gave the false impression that she was nice and compassionate). she's just there bossing everyone around just to feel powerful i guess, but i can't find any explanation behind the fact that she needs to feel powerful other than she's a bitch
so yeah we had her for two and a half series and since there was nothing to her besides being mean for no reason, being sexualized and being in distress and that it was basically the same with river, i was kinda really fkn bored
she told rory leaving him (= throwing his arse out of the house and keeping it for herself because apparently adoption is not a thing anymore and having children is obviously the only real reason people fall in love and get together) was harder than him staying awake and dragging around an enormous box with her body inside for 2000 years all alone (and she didn't say it nicely, either, she guilt-tripped her way through this conversation)
she also couldn't understand why rory thought she was confessing her love for the doctor at the beginning of series 6 after she'd 1. cheated on him 2. thought he was gay their whole childhood (wow, is amy so self-absorbed she can't even see anything outside of her own reflection including the boy who keeps staring at her 24/7 wide-mouthed? that's actually record-breaking) 3. forgot about him (ik it's not her fault she forgot but she also didn't care how insecure rory felt about this or anything else) 4. keeps calling him names 5. ditched their wedding to go traveling with a near-stranger 6. flirts with the doctor in front of him 7. calls him and the doctor "my boys" like she owns the place (she doesn't) 8. i could go on but you get the point
she's generally selfish, arrogant, bratty, abusive, shows no lasting emotion (or psychological damage) to the things that happen to her, misdirects her anger, shows anger for no reason (wakes up and slaps rory because he asked her if she was ok - that's called abuse)
if i were the tardis i would have thrown her arse out in seconds

i will always be fascinated by how threatened (american?) conservatives feel by Taylor Swift because she's like the epitome of white feminism and even though she says something openly political every other year she's not like... super loud about it or really challenging the status quo so... why are they so mad? Is it really because she's a successful woman who isn't married and has no kids? Is it really that?? Because yes she has power and made a lot of people get registered to vote but like?? Is she really that big of a threat to you?

minx is interesting. It’s interesting and it’s interested in things in a way that I find a lot of current media about feminism not to be. There’s an active interest into poking into some of the uncomfortable areas without simple conclusions when it comes to how feminism should relate to sex and the market/capitalism.
also really appreciate the unapologetic 70’s ness and the use of 70’s events, catchwords, buzz etc in a way that doesn’t always feel tee hee
#Like idk if it always comes to the Conclusions but is really interesting to see a show which is ABOUT feminism and what it actually is#With imperfect people#What does it /mean/ to make something feminist and what does it mean when that thing has to be sold#There’s a couple moments so far that are like well this would blow someone’s mind off#It’s interesting to chew on relative to Daisy jones lol#I’m not going to say it’s anti capitalist but it’s also not that type of subliminal capitalist fantasy show#That just ignores the demands of capitalism to write off a world for the people who’ve already won#Very much almost in Convo with something like the bold type or classic sex and the city for that#Like the whole second episode thing with the ads#the ads unapologetically sucking and being soooo sexist#And upper class country club goer white feminist Joyce /also/ being extremely confined mentally to sexist advertising#Like I hate the edible panties. U know what’s great? Shampoo and makeup#And Doug mentioning that if they /don’t/ advertise the cost of the magazine will go above most people’s ability to pay for it#Like. It’s a show Thinking about a lot of this#I think Joyce is so interesting because she’s both so much more radical and so much more flawed than a lot of the /girlboss/ characters out#There. She’s the rare example of an upper class white feminist that I think the narrative is aware of the class part at least#And she’s flawed and kind of mean and totally out of it#And also like. 5000% more radical than a lot of the the equivalents#Like she isn’t trying to publish Feel Empowered with Sexy Lipstick articles#She’s trying to publish articles about birth control marital rape and abortion access#And her issues often come from where the radicality of her vision is being compromised by praxis#Like that’s so interesting

“The Barbie Movie is anti-men!”
No. The Barbie movie was just not made for u s. I honestly didn’t find the movie all that relatable outside of Allan but it’s still a GOOD movie! I wasn’t bored during it, it was funny, the music was good, it’s thematically a great movie. I was just not the target audience and that’s okay!! Seeing my 49 year old mother crying at the end of the movie was all I needed for the movie to make me happy, knowing that it touched my mother in a way that other movies don’t often do. And that’s okay :)
Barbie is a movie for anyone who has lived the female experience, especially older women like my own mother who grew up playing with Barbie. That doesn’t mean that you can’t relate to it just. As a human being, and I have lived a female experience briefly in my life but I didn’t relate to the movie. And that’s okay! If you relate to this movie fucking awesome!!! I’m so glad that there’s a movie that means a lot to you :) /gen
I’m just beefing with the other men on the internet who didn’t relate to it like me, yet they insist it’s a bad or “anti-men” movie when it’s clearly not???
Also shoutout to Allan he was literally made in a lab for the transgenders
Only critique? I wish it was more anti capitalist and anarchist but that was never really the point so I get it I will wallow in my corner praying for a progressive movie to arrive that fulfills my genderfuck anarchy goals. ( Idk maybe I’ll write something to fulfill my own dreams ❤️❤️ )

I believe that more badass women in canon should treated like pathetic losers in fanon like how people say how edgy badass man character is so pathetic meow meow actually.
I know also we are currently living in times that general fandom culture making this impossible without being subtly sexist unfortunately but it would be nice.
Majority of people are still giving men they talk like trash lovingly more value than women they praise to the heavens

not to be dramatic but i think if i have to keep living knowing my roommate / ex-friend is scrutinizing every single thing i do and say and seeking me out to do so when i am trying as much as possible to politely avoid them. i don't know suicide isn;t an option because it was just my birthday but like it's a thought.
and in the event of them reading this. because. see above. the reason that i am upset with you is because you have disregarded the feelings and fears of those who were closest to you, physically attacked and emotionally manipulated your ex girlfriend and a number of situations regarding her, and intentionally made me feel unsafe in my home as a means of retaliation. if you want deeper specifics i will gladly have a conversation about it. i will not be able to be friends again but we could reach some kind of mutual understanding. i think it would be healthy.
i don't want to think about this anymore. is life not hard enough without this. good lord 👼
