Tagged by @rewritetheending @forthewolves and @devirnis for fuck it Friday! Here's a Buck and Natalia date from the season 7 fight fic. This is after the first big Buck and Eddie argument and I want to make them like actually really like each other so it sucks when Eddie shows up at Buck's place after this like "I thought about what you said and I think I am in love with you so I broke up with Marisol" and Buck has to be like jesus christ why, why would you do that, why now, we were both happy...
He meets Natalia at a new coffee place. They’ve tried a new one every time, a joking promise to try every coffee joint in LA that makes him feel secretly giddy with the length of shared time it implies. They both get the same lavender latte, but try each other’s anyway, and he kisses her laugh about it right off her lips. There’s a movie theater nearby, in a sort of dingy old building that Buck very quietly and mostly jokingly points out fire code violations in, that plays old movies all day long. It’s October, so they’re doing a Friday the 13th marathon. Buck is unsure of his opinion on scary movies. As Chimney never lets him forget, he’s not particularly well versed in any pop culture, the Buckley household not much one for casual movie nights, and horror certainly would not have been approved of.  “What if I get scared?” He asks, another mostly joke. “I’ll protect you, she smiles, big and fond. “I’ll even let you hold my hand,” she whispers, like its a secret, like they aren’t already doing so. They get there just before Jason Takes Manhattan is due to start, and they’re almost the only people in the theater, the other patrons a couple of kids who sit close to the screen and are probably skipping school to be here. As soon as there's a dog on screen Buck makes wide frightened eyes at Nat until she makes her phone all the way dim to look up if it makes it through the movie okay. “Dog’s fine, don’t worry,” she whispers, “I am so curious to see how this one thing is going to happen, though…” “What thing?” “Nuh uh,” she laughs at him trying to read over her shoulder, leaning away and turning her phone. “You don’t like spoilers, just wait and see.” Throughout the movie she occasionally goes “Ohh, this is how- oh wait, guess not…” or “This time, surely…Hm, no…” and the increasingly delightful mystery makes him forget to think about being scared at all. Finally, when they’ve trapped Jason in the New York sewers which, apparently, get flooded with toxic waste every night and he starts barfing up the nasty water she gasps, pointing at the screen. “There it is! It said he was going to throw up after toxic sludge gets on him!” Buck laughs hard enough that the teens look back at them. “I can see why you got faked out so many times,” he gets out between giggles.  “There were a lot of barrels of sludge in this movie!” “There really were!” They walk out still giggling, hand in hand, jostling together, and his body is comfortable with hers in a way that usually takes longer to find. The only other person he thinks he’s found his footing so fast with is-  Ah, and he was doing so good at not thinking about it.

Buddie: Eddie supports Buck in everything!
Here's one of the many reasons why Buddie is endgame!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the many things I noticed during the beginning scenes of 7x6 that heavily included Buck and Eddie was Eddie’s undying and never-ending devotion to Buck. He's always been like that so it wasn't a surprise to me but IMO, apparently, TM wanted the new viewers to see it too. Also, it was probably included as a reminder for those who've been watching but may have forgotten.
Here's what I mean.
Chimney clearly said he didn't want a bachelor party and he said it so EVERYONE could hear it, including Eddie.
But Buck was adamant about it and he wouldn't give up (in 5x2 Eddie said it to Buck that he never gives up and Buck learned that from Chris in 3x1 - 3x2 when they were talking before and after the Tsunami). Eddie knew Chimney didn't want one but he never dismissed Buck’s intentions of wanting to do something that he believed Chimney should experience. It's who Buck is and Eddie knows him to his CORE and so much so that he indulged him by not only suggesting they go as Crockett and Tubbs from Miami Vice but also he was the only one who complied with Buck's wishes and came in an 80s costume.
He was the first person there and he made sure Chris was cared for so he wouldn't miss it. And he was THE ONLY ONE IN ATTENDANCE WHO STAYED WITH BUCK ALL NIGHT. They partied like it was 1999!
Eddie’s love and support for Buck was on full display and it's what he needs in a life partner. Buck doesn't need someone who just wants to kid and son him and who doesn't support him in EVERYTHING the way his supposed LI is doing. T*mmy didn't even try to oblige him and his response was nonchalant and stand-offish like he thought it was ridiculous. Also, him being on standby didn't have anything to do with it since they have to CHANGE CLOTHES WHEN THEY GO TO WORK ANYWAY. Hello, they wear uniforms.
My point is Eddie’s still waiting for Buck to get it. He gave him his heart years ago but he's patiently giving him the space and the time he needs to realize it on his own. He's supportive and he doesn't dismiss him and most importantly, he loves Buck unconditionally and that's what makes BUDDIE THE SUPERIOR SHIP.
They have spent years loving each other and being there for one another and IMO, it's the reason why TM is putting them front and center in every episode. He said he was going to show their "coupling" (his word) and that's what he's doing. Anyone watching should be able to see they're PERFECT for each other. Also, there's no denying how much chemistry they have and they haven't even kissed yet. But trust when they finally do kiss on screen, it's going to be EVERYTHING because all the years they've spent loving each other will pour out of their hearts and they'll put their all into it. It will be the most satisfying of beginnings for them. They will be each other's last everything and they'll grow old and spend the rest of their lives together.
They've built a life and a family for the past six years that's based on trust, love and devotion and if the Diaz parents showing up in a future episode is any indication of what's to come, I believe Eddie's WILL is about to come into play in a big way and there won't be any room for Eddie to deny what it means. It was a love confession and he did it in the best way he knew how at the time. He loves Buck and Buck loves him and that's what matters.
They're in love with each other and they share something greater than a couple of on screen kisses since they've been sharing a life and a family for the past six years.
They're best friends.
They're soulmates.
I ONLY SHIP BUDDIE!

jumping into this to say: 100% agree.
for me the confirmation that buddie wasn’t going to happen was the lighting strike, actually. i remember thinking: okay, this is the moment they realize their feelings for each other. if it doesn’t happen now, it most likely will never happen.
but here is the thing! i think this whole point is one of the things that have Bobs MAD. because they have been ‘waiting’ for either side of buddie to finally realise their feelings and declare their undying love for each other. they’re pretty sure it’ll happen after eddie is buried alive - it doesn’t happen. they’re pretty sure it’ll happen after eddie gets shot - it doesn’t happen. they’re pretty sure it’ll happen after eddie’s breakdown - it doesn’t happen. and they’re for sure sure it’ll happen after buck wakes up from his coma - and OF COURSE it doesn’t happen. bc buddie isn’t happening.
and then tommy comes along, and buck has an immediate connection with him, and it is mutual. and instead of waiting years, BT shippers get their ship together in literally an episode. and even with the hiccup in 705, they stay solid.
long story short: they hate how easy it is to prove buck does not have feelings for eddie. because he clearly has those for tommy, and realizing he’s into men hasn’t changed the way he sees eddie. not even coming back from the dead (pre realization) will change it
I remember the lightning strike, and the build up to it, and the reactions afterwards. before 6x11 aired it was all "bedside confession!" and "eddie's gonna wake him up!" and that shit. then after the ep aired and eddie was barely in it (which 1. we were literally told beforehand that it would be chim and bobby with the most focus, and 2. I actually think we should have gotten more of eddie, instead of two forced forgiveness of parents) it became "eddie was too grief stricken, canon buddie right around the corner" like the goal posts moving is insane.
buck had 5-14 years of working with eddie, hanging out with eddie, being naked with eddie in the locker room and showers, and it never sparked a a realization because he does not now, nor has he ever, had romantic feelings for eddie. yes, he found him physically attractive, and yes he probably had a crush on him at the beginning. but he never liked-liked him. because all it took was tommy showing up and being his cool confident self for buck to lose his mind and hop on that dick.
like you said, they've almost died in front of each other multiple times, they've seen the other date other people, they practically live out of each other's pockets at times, what more is it supposed to take for them to have a feelings realization?

obviously everyone has the right to feel how they feel but i don’t see why people are so upset about how the episode went down. the episode framed buck as Eddie’s grieving partner, not ana. and the buck and taylor kiss felt very out of character for what they literally JUST established a few episodes before which likely means that’s the point. they were just reacting to the emotion of the last few days. people are saying it feels like they’re not sure where the story is going now and that
Tumblr media
i'm not putting a lot of stock into the buck/taylor kiss. i think they care about each other and they have history, but taylor just shut down the possibility like 2 episodes ago. like you said, i think they were just reacting in the moment. if buck/taylor were endgame i don't think that's how the show would set up the beginning of their relationship. for all we know they might reveal at the beginning of season 5 that they realized once the dust settled they didn't actually want to date each other, or they might date briefly and then part ways. like you said, no one got engaged or confessed their undying love for each other. what's a couple of kisses compared to way bigger, life altering things?
they aren't perfect but overall the 911 writers know how to tell a good story. take 4x08 for example. people were upset and saying eddie was ooc for pushing ana on christopher so soon in their relationship. fast forward a few episodes and it's implied that the whole reason eddie did that was for christopher, because he thought it would be good for him to have ana in his life. prioritizing christopher's happiness over his own is extremely in character, so even if something initially seems out of character or off doesn't mean it isn't part of a bigger plan.
just because we don't necessarily like and/or understand the route the writers are taking doesn't mean buddie isn't still the ultimate destination.

5+1 - Five times Buddie tried to confess their newfound romantic feelings to each other and the one time someone else did it for them?
thank you for the idea! Hope you like it.
1.
Buck took a deep breath as he looked at Eddie and Chris. These nights always cemented the fact that he’s not only in love with Eddie, but this is what he wants everyday for the rest of his life just the three of them, and maybe some more kids at some point.
Eddie is his perfect match. He really never expected to find someone and really never thought it would be a man, but he doesn’t care he just wants Eddie. Tonight’s the night, once Chris goes to bed he’s gonna rip off the bandaid...tell Eddie the truth.
Buck waited in anticipation as Eddie finished tucking Chris in. His heart was pounding, his breathing was erratic and he couldn’t sit still.
“You ok?” Eddie smiled
“Uh yeah great.”
“You sure.”
“Of course I just wanted to tell you something.”
“Ok.” Eddie said sitting next to Buck.
“Eddie I love...I love game night, but I’m not gonna make it this week...I have plans.” Buck lied, and it was a terrible lie because he definitely did not have plans.
“A date?” Eddie asked and Bucks sure Eddie looks upset.
“No, no date for me. I just I have some laundry and cleaning I need to do and that’s the only free time I’ll have this week.” Buck said. Another lie. The truth has to be easier than this.
“We can do it at your place...game night I mean. Then I can help you.” Eddie said softly.
Damnit there’s no way to say no. No way to turn down Eddie and Chris time.
“You’d do that for me.”
“Buck I’d do anything for you.” Eddie said placing his hand on Bucks thigh.
“Ok. Game night at my place.”
2.
Eddie was nervous. Bucks coming over, but only Buck and him will be there. Chris is at a sleepover and most nights it’s just the three of them, which is actually how Eddie prefers it. This isn’t the first time he’s been in love. After Shannon he wasn’t sure how to move on and when he dated Ana he liked her, but something was off. He figured out later it was the skateboard incident and how she reacted vs how Buck reacted. That’s when he knew for sure Buck was the one.
“Hey.” Eddie smiled as Buck walked through the door.
“Hey.” Buck yawned.
“Sorry I’m so boring.” Eddie teased.
“Nah. Just tired Albert and Veronica are...really loud.”
“Why don’t they just stay at her place.”
“Oh they do.” Buck rolled his eyes.
Eddie sat next to Buck making sure he wasn’t too close, even though they’re usually so close their bodies are pressed together, but he knows if he’s too close he’ll lose his nerve.
“I uh need to use the bathroom.” Eddie said excusing himself.
You can do this. It’s not a big deal. Just say it “Buck I wanna be more than friends.” No not that “Buck I like you.” Well it’s more than like but the L word might scare Buck, even though Eddie knows he loves him. “Buck you’re hot as fuck.” Nope nope nope not that one. That sounds purely sexual, and as much as Eddie is sexually attracted to Buck that’s not all there is. It’s really all the small things about Buck and his personality that drew Eddie in. Ok straight forward. “I have romantic feelings for you.” Maybe that works. No speak from the heart.
Eddie walked out of the bathroom not confident in what he’d say, but confident it’s time to tell Buck....who is passed out asleep on the couch.
“I can wake up.” Buck yawned.
“No. I’ll get you a blanket. Lay down and get some rest.”
Buck obeyed and Eddie covered him placing a small kiss on Bucks temple. Buck didn’t seem to notice, but that’s ok it’s not their time yet.
3.
Buck looked at Eddie from across the station and sighed. Why was it so difficult telling him. Ok he knows why because it could potentially ruin the best friendship he’s ever had, but most people think of their spouse as their best friend right? So maybe that’s why their friendship is unlike any other he’s ever had because they belong together.
There’s 5 hours of the shift left, but a wave of confidence hit Buck. He strutted over to Eddie who smiled.
“What’s up?” Eddie grinned.
“Can we talk?”
“Everything alright?”
“Yeah I uh just need to say this.” Buck said before the bell went off.
Saved by the bell...more like blocked by the bell. Buck sighed.
“We can talk later.” Eddie nodded.
Later...later will there be any confidence left?
After returning to the station Eddie stopped Buck.
“Do you wanna continue our conversation? It seemed important.”
“Eddie I...can’t remember.” Buck hated that he said that he wanted to just blurt out “I love you” but that might scare Eddie off, and that confidence from earlier had fizzled out. Today is so not the day.
4.
Today was gonna be the day...again. Buck was coming over to make dinner. Chris had a last minute sleepover invite. Which Eddie was happy his son was so excited, and happy for some alone time with Buck, but it was scary.
Buck showed up in a tight blue shirt not only making his eyes pop but accentuating his muscles. Eddie felt guilty ogling his best friend, but when Buck looks this good it s hard not to.
“You ok?” Buck asked as he began to cook.
Eddie sat on the counter near by.
“Yeah I just. Do you ever have something you think you need to say, but you don’t know what will happen. Like it could ruin something great, but if you say it then the thing you already have could be even greater.” Eddie sighed.
“I guess I don’t know for sure, but I feel like you just go on your instincts. Do what you think is best. Trust your gut....I mean obviously You have no gut just rock hard abs, but you get it. Does that help?”
“ I think.” Eddie but his lip.
“Do you wanna talk about it? See if I can help?”
Yes. Of course we really need to talk about it.
“Uh no...it’s nothing big.” Eddie lied.
“Well I’m here anytime...really even if you ever need to call late at night to talk you can. Don’t worry if I’m asleep or not. I’ll be here...always.”
Eddie felt like his heart was doing somersaults. Buck is so perfect and caring...it’s really Bucks fault he fell in love with him. If Buck wasn’t such an amazing person, and it was just sexual attraction rather than love and sexual attraction this would a lot easier.
Ok no more hiding.
“Buck.”
“Yeah?” Buck said with a smile that melts Eddies heart.
“I-” Eddie said before Buck cut him off.
“Sorry hold that thought I don’t want the food to burn.”
Buck returned shorty with two plates piled high full of delicious food.
“Ok so what were we talking about?” Buck asked in a serious tone.
“I was just telling you how much I appreciate you cooking for me.”
“Anytime.” Buck smiled.
And another failed attempt. Bucks totally worth it. Eddie wants to tell him, but the thought of potentially messing up their friendship is what makes it so scary. Every time he tries to tell him it’s like something always gets in his way. Is this fates way of telling him not to say anything?
5.
Buck looked across the bar as he saw a woman practically throwing herself at Eddie....ok she was just talking, but still it made Buck feel an overwhelming wave of jealousy. A shitty bar isn’t really the place to confess your undying love, but now he feels like he has to.
Buck plopped on the chair next to Eddie. He knew it was weird l, but when he got there the words didn’t wanna come out. Not in a way that would make any sense.
“Hey Buck wanna help me carry the drinks back to our table?” Eddie smiled.
“Uh yeah.”
“So Uh why didn’t you keep talking to her. She’s pretty and seemed into you.”
“She’s not my type.”
“What is your type.”
“It’s not that I really have a type its  more a feeing....I can usually tell pretty quick by the way I feel around that person, and I wasn’t feeling it.”
So if Eddie can feel it quickly, but hasn’t said anything yet then maybe that means he’s not into Buck. He has no feelings for him. It’s unreciprocated and the pain in his chest is unbearable he almost feels like he’s at the point where he wants to cry, but he’s in so much pain he can’t.
“Buck you ok?” Eddie asked.
The words echoed through Bucks mind.
“I’m not feeling so well maybe I should go.”
“I’ll drive you home I haven’t had anything to drink yet.”
“Uh no I’ll call an Uber.” Buck said. He wanted Eddie to take him home, but maybe once he’s not around Eddie the pain will lessen.
+1.
Hen and Karen were having everyone other for a game night. Although they had ulterior motives. Everyone was sick and tired of Buck and Eddies shit. They were either pining, moping, or gazing longingly at each other all the time.
Hen was very aware of both of their feelings considering they both confided in her. They both admitted how they keep trying to tell each other, but something kept holding them back. She wanted to say you love him he loves you now be together, but it’s not her place to be so straight forward. She tried and tried to encourage them to just be honest, but they were both too stubborn.
“Buck, Eddie can you grab the folding table out of my bedroom closet?” Hen asked earning a glare from both men.
As soon as they both entered the room hen shut the door and then pushed a chest in front of it barricading the door.
“You two need to talk...about what you keep talking to me about. The thing you both want to say. I know you know what I mean. I’ll let you out when you finally talk.” Hen said.
“Hen.” Buck groaned as he jiggled the door knob.
Eddie sat on the bed.
“Fine I’ll say it blurt it out.” Eddie let out a deep breath.
“I love you.” Buck sighed as he approached Eddie. “Like I’m in love with you. I’ve tried and tried to tell you but I can’t seem to ever get the words out.”
“Buck I’ve been trying to tell you the same thing for so long. I didn’t wanna scare you, but I love you and I can’t believe you feel it too.”
Buck practically tackled Eddie pushing him back on the bed straddling and kissing him.
Moments later Hen was knocking on the door.
“You guys good.”
“Yeah we uh talked.” Buck panted.
“Give is a few more minutes...to talk.” Eddie panted.
“Do not have sex in my room.” Hen said pushing the chest out of the way. “You’re free to come out here now.”
“Oh we aren’t gonna have sex here. When we do I wanna hear every sound I can pull from Buck. If we did it hear he might try to muffle those sounds.”
“Walking away now!” Hen said.
“Eddie should we go back to my place.” Buck whispered.
“Isn’t that rushing this a bit?”
“We don’t have to do anything I just wanna be alone with you.” Buck smiled climbing off of Eddie.
“Ok.” Eddie smiled.
When they walked out to the living room everyone applauded .
“Finally!” Maddie laughed.
“Hey uh so we’re gonna go. We kinda need to talk some more.” Eddie said.
“Thanks Hen for forcing us to admit our feelings.” Buck smiled.
“Hey I knew you both felt it you just needed a little push.” Hen smiled.

Chapters: 1/? Relationships: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz, Eddie Diaz (9-1-1 TV)/Original Female Character(s)
Sometimes, Buck wishes he was born a female, then maybe he could easily confess his undying love to his best friend.
Or,
A feeling realization fic loosely based on Conan Gray's "Heather".
---------------------------------------------------
"You're still coming over tonight right, Buck?" Eddie asks while his head still stuck halfway inside his locker, packing the last of his things before going back home for the day.
"Sure. I'll just need to make a quick stop for gas and I'll come over with the pizza." Buck replies, not even lifting his head from where he is tying his shoelaces.
Eddie chuckles in elation. "Oh good. Thought you'd cancel on us with the storm." Eddie says as he locks the locker before joining Buck who is already standing at the door of the locker room with an umbrella waiting in hand.
"I'll storm the weather just to spend some quality time with Christopher, you know I will." And with you. But Buck just let the words die on the tip of his tongue.
They both carry on to walk side by side in sync towards their designated parking spaces located next to each other.
It is one of many moments that Buck loves. These small chances to be with Eddie. Call him selfish, but Buck will seize any moment to be in Eddie's space, the man that he comes to love so hard. Not that Eddie knows. Moreover, his best friend is as straight as the umbrella he is holding.
"Triple cheese and classic pepperoni, right?" Buck chimes as Eddie slides into his truck, angling the umbrella so that not a drop of rain touch his best friend.
"You know the drill." Eddie smiles while igniting his monstrosity of truck (as Buck described it) up.
"See you in a bit." It feels so intimate, bound by their little promises as if they are in their own little world, speaking their own tune and having their own routine. Buck allows his heart to relish in the present a bit longer.
///
The storm is not a merciful one and between the gas station and the pizza place, Buck is already halfway soaked to the bone.
Standing in front of Eddie's front door, Buck grimaces at the puddle forming under his shoes, feeling a little guiltier as the water follows into the doorway.
Eddie immediately comes with a towel in hand before taking away the pizza boxes. "You're soaked." He comments.
Buck takes the towel gratefully. "Thank you, Eddie. That is very observant of you." He quips jokingly while patting his body dry, not that the towel could dry much with how soaked he already is.
"Come on, let's get you in the shower. I'll lend you some of my sweaters later." Eddie pulls Buck's hand and drags him towards the guestroom. Buck shudders, some from the rain, but mostly from the warm touch of Eddie's hand in his. He immediately wills his heartbeat to calm down, because this lingering touch surely is to be missed greatly later on.
The shower is a quick one, just enough to warm him up. Stepping into the guest room, Buck can see Eddie already laid out a change for him, consisting of Eddie's favorite sweater and sweatpants.
Buck immediately feels giddy thinking how Eddie could simply lend him his favorite one just for Buck to sleep in and that tonight he'll be sleeping surrounded by something that smells of Eddie.
"It looks better on you," Eddie says from the doorway.
That immediately snaps Buck from his creeping minds. "What?" Buck stutters sheepishly. Real smooth, Buck.
"The sweater. You look good in it." Eddie compliments again. "But I want it back. That's my favorite." Eddie teases lightly.
"We'll see if you get it back." Buck retorts relieved Eddie didn't catch him daydreaming.
"Come on. Christopher is whining the pizza is getting cold." Eddie grabs Buck's hand again, and his treacherous heart starts to thump heavily again. This is all platonic, Buck. Buck chases his wishful thinking again.
They settle in front of the television and proceeds with the dinner and movie, just like every Friday night when both of them off from work. As usual, Christopher is nicely squeezed between the two man, delighted that his Buck is staying for the night due to the storm outside.
///
They are halfway through the movie when Christopher finally can't keep his eyes open anymore.
"I'll get him to settle for the night." Buck offers, already guiding Chris towards the bathroom to wash up. Eddie just hums appreciatively, taking another swing of his second beer.
Moments later, Buck returns to the living room, all satisfied that Chris is out in a blink. The school must be tiring for Chris today, who is usually vibrant with so much energy.
"Hey." Eddie greets when Buck steps towards the couch.
"Hey to you too. Are you planning to let loose tonight?" Buck shots up an eyebrow, seeing Eddie cracking up his third beer. Eddie is not the one usually getting all hammered up. In fact, he is the 118 designated driver every time they went out together, alongside with Bobby or Athena.
Eddie hums, relaxing more into his drinks. "Just feel like it. With you here, I think why not just a few more. We're both off tomorrow." Eddie smiles more widely to Buck, the alcohol is starting to affect him.
Buck knows he needs to take Eddie's words on face value, just the literal translation of them. But his mind just read the words as; "I trust you to watch over us when I am drunk." And that trust, Buck will wield them proudly.
Eventually, both of them focus back to the movie playing on the screen. But then, after the movie almost done, Buck could feel Eddie is slowly inching toward him on the couch and he immediately stiffen, not daring to hope.
"Have I told you, you look stunning in that sweater?" Eddie whispers in a hoarse voice.
Buck stammers, not really knowing what to do or say. Yet, Buck dares to turn his head to face Eddie, observing the flushed cheeks and hazed eyes. Eddie is clearly drunk.
"Eddie..." Buck warns as Eddie leans in, not wanting to take advantage of the situation despite his heart is raging hard against his ribcage, rivaling the storm outside.
Eddie stops with their lips barely touching each other at Buck's admonishment.
"You're drunk," Buck states, trying hard to level his voice and hide his nervousness.
Eddie scrunches his face in confusion, not understanding the implications.
"But I want to kiss you," Eddie says like it is obvious and Buck is the one not making any sense.
Buck knows Eddie and this is not his normal behavior. "Kiss me when you're sober." If you remember this moment.
Buck has been wishing for this for a long time, but he wishes Eddie was sober.
"If I am sober, I don't think I'll kiss you," Eddie says in a hushed whisper. "Sorry." Eddie continues to take another gulp of his drink like nothing life-altering situation just happened between them.
Stunned, Buck just agrees even though the fact that Eddie literally just confessed that he doesn't want Buck in his waking moment just shred his heart to a pulp.
Buck goes to bed that night with a heavy mind after shuffling a very much drunk Eddie to his room.
And as he predicted, Buck couldn't sleep a wink that night even though Eddie was able to drift away as soon as he hits the pillow.
When the morning comes, like Buck also foresee, Eddie doesn't remember a thing, and so, life moves on just like it was before, leaving Buck in his broken mess.

Prompt: by the campfire, a bet!
I’m sorry this isn’t the campfire kiss you wanted, but I promise soft buddie kisses after! Also this got hella long. I don’t know what happened 8D!!
“Pass the marshmallows?” Chim holds out a hand toward Buck.
Buck grabs the bag by his feet and tosses it to Chim, who nods a thanks before reaching into the bag and grabbing two marshmallows, passing one to Maddie. Buck sinks back into his foldout chair and glances around the campsite.
Seated around the campfire are all his favourite people. Chim, Maddie, Hen, Karen, Athena, whom he’s started calling Mama Grant in his head, Cap, and Eddie. Buck’s gaze lingers on Eddie and a soft smile tugs at the corners of his lips. Favourite people, indeed.
The children, all four of them, are asleep in their tents, and the gorgeous day makes way for a mild and lovely night. The inky sky is littered with stars usually washed out by the city lights of LA, and Buck takes a deep breath as he stares off into space. Literally.
“Now that the kids are asleep,” Hen says gleefully. “I propose a game.” She pulls a half full bottle of vodka and shakes it.
Buck drags his eyes from the sky and gives Hen a look. “Didn’t take you for the drinking game type. Always thought that’d be Chim’s thing.”
“Hey.” Chim flings a burnt marshmallow at Buck, and the campsite erupts with laughter.
Hen tests the twist cap on the bottle, making sure it’s screwed on tight, and lays it on the packed dirt ground. “Not drinking, not with the kids waking us up at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow. I’m thinking something much more junior high.” She twists the bottle with an evil gleam in her eyes.
Buck’s mouth dries and he sits up straighter. Spin the bottle? Seriously? Everyone present is like family. Maddie is his actual sister, and there’s no way in hell he’d have the nerve to kiss Mama Grant if the bottle lands on her. And then there’s Eddie. What would Buck do if the bottle actually lands on Eddie? Can Buck really kiss him without giving himself away? What if a kiss with Eddie confirms the guy would never be into him? Can he take that sort of rejection?
A look passes between Eddie and Hen. What are they playing at?
Cap stares at Hen with narrow eyes. “That’s playing dirty.”
Hen smirks. “There’s no rule in the rulebook that says we can’t.”
Buck steals a glance at Eddie, his face half hidden in flickering shadows. Their eyes meet and something thrills through Buck. Why is Eddie looking at him like he’s Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas ham rolled into one?
Eddie grabs the bottle and hefts it in his hand, as if he’s gauging the weight and planning a strategic spin. Is that even a thing? A strategic spin? Buck’s mouth is now two water drops away from the Sahara, and he swallows dryly as he watches Eddie put the bottle on the ground and gives it a twist.
The bottle flies into rapid spin. The whole clearing is silent save for the rustling of leaves and chirps and squeaks of wild animals. The bottleneck passes Buck. Once, twice, three times. It slows, and Buck’s growing lightheaded as he holds his breath.
Eddie’s watching Buck intently, and Buck wants to shrink under the heated gaze. What’s Eddie playing at?
The bottle slows and stops in front of Chim. All eyes swivel between the two of them, then land on Maddie. She shrugs, a devious little smile on the corner of her lips, and says, “Have at it, boys.”
Except she’s staring right at Buck as she’s saying it. What is actually going on here?
Eddie gets up from his folding stool and crosses to the other side of the fire where Chim’s snuggled up to Maddie on a couple’s folding chair. They lock eyes for a second, then Eddie grips the back of Chim’s neck and plants one right on his lips.
Something snaps in Buck, and an uncomfortable heat spreads from his chest to his limbs. This is just a game. Eddie’s not actually into Chim, and Chim’s dating his sister for crying out loud. Besides, Buck’s got no claim on Eddie. He’s a free, handsome man who can kiss whomever he wants.
And yet, something akin to jealousy burns through Buck, and his fingers twitch in his lap.
Eddie straightens and brushes his thumb across his bottom lip, all the while staring at Buck like a challenge, and saunters back to his seat. Everyone else takes a turn with the bottle, but Buck’s too annoyed to play. He makes some lame excuse about feeling tired and crawls into his tent. The tent he’s sharing with Eddie because they’re the only two single guys here.
Fuck.
It’s not long before the tent flap zips open. Buck stills and pretends to be asleep, but he’s only too aware of the body shifting in the tiny space. The rustle of fabric, a soft thud, then the echo of Eddie’s sleeping bag zipping open.
A whoosh of cold air blasts against Buck’s back, and he looks over his shoulder to find Eddie unzipping and climbing into Buck’s sleeping bag.
“Uh, Eddie?” Buck rasps, trying to keep his voice down incase the others have also gone to their tents.
“Hey, Evan.” Eddie’s warm breath tickles Buck’s neck.
“What are you—”
Eddie’s lips steal the rest of Buck’s sentence, and Buck’s too shocked to enjoy the sweet taste of Eddie’s mouth. Eddie hums, then cups Buck’s jaw gently before darting in for another fleeting kiss. This time, Buck’s brain catches up with the rest of him, and he leans into the touch with a soft moan.
He captures Eddie’s lips with his own, and can’t help the tentative lick as he tries to steal a taste. Eddie indulges him, letting Buck explore his mouth to his heart’s content. Eddie tastes like marshmallows and vodka. Like something wild and exotic but also familiar. Like home, and Buck sighs as he pulls back for air.
“Hi,” Eddie murmurs, his kiss-swollen lips glistening.
Buck grins, and a comforting warmth chases away the cold grip of jealousy around his heart. “Hi yourself.”
“So, that’s what it takes, huh?” Eddie’s eyes twinkle, and Buck’s eyes widen as realization settles in.
“You guys set me up,” he growls, but it’s hard to stay mad when he’s this kiss-drunk.
“I guess Hen’s sick of watching us dance around each other.”
“And you went along with this?”
“Everyone did.”
“What?”
Eddie smirks and manhandles Buck until Buck’s back’s pressed against Eddie’s chest. “There was a bet—”
“Assholes.”
“—that you’d crack and confess your undying love for me if you saw me kiss someone else.” Eddie nips Buck’s ear. “Thanks for the extra spending money. And Hen wants me to tell you Denny’s gonna get that new bike he wanted after all.”
Buck scowls into the dark space in front of him, but he’s too warm and comfortable and too giddy to be mad. “And what makes you think I’m interested in you?” Just because he’s not mad, doesn’t mean he can’t be a little indignant.
“That look on your face when I kissed Chim,” Eddie replies without missing a beat.
Buck’s face heats, and he curses under his breath. Eddie squeezes him, and Buck melts into the embrace. “So, has everyone gone to bed?” Buck asks as he tugs Eddie’s arms tighter around him.
“Yeah, when Chim’s bottle landed on Athena, we all decided it was best to call it a night.”
Buck bursts out laughing and earns himself a few shouted shut-up’s from the other tents. He twists in Eddie’s arms until they’re facing each other and darts in for one more kiss.
“Guess you’re taking me out on a date, then, with all that extra money you made at my expense.”
Eddie grins. “Wherever you want, querido, wherever you want.”

Buck & Eddie:  At home with The Buckley-Diaz Family
Whenever Buck, Eddie and Christopher spend time together at either Buck’s loft or at Eddie’s house, they do their best to make the most of it.  Buck doesn’t consider himself to be a guest at Eddie’s house and Eddie and Christopher have always been able to make themselves at home whenever they’re at Buck’s loft so them spending time together at either of those places works for all of them.  Usually they have a meal and/or play video games together but sometimes they chose to spend time together as a family because they were separated from each other for a day or two like they had been in 3x3 “The Searchers” after the Tsunami or like they were going to be in 5x17 “Hero Complex” because Eddie and Christopher were going to El Paso, TX.  The time they spend together is just for the three of them but occasionally other 118 family members have been present.  Then there was one time when an interloper was present in 5x11 “Outside Looking In” but not long after that, Buck broke up with her so they don’t have to worry about others invading their family time (related GIF set: “Parallels “I thought…”).  Even though she was there, Eddie, Christohper and Buck still had an awesome time with their inside jokes about Eddie’s cooking. In 6x1 “Let the Games Begin” the three of them were together again just like they had been in previous years.  Things are different now though because Eddie and Christopher are waiting on Buck to realize that they already have a couch since Buck doesn’t have one and once Buck has his realization, then he and Eddie should be able to take the next step and confess their undying love for one another (related posts: “Eddie already told Christopher that he wants to be with Buck!” and “Timeline of Couches – META”).
