hi! anon about buck and eddie’s facial expressions back here. I agree with everything you said. Particularly this part:

I think so many people fall into this trap of consistently looking for subtext in their words, expressions, and body language because they’ve convinced themselves that buddie is happening and it is in the words and it is exactly what the writers are writing towards. I think this belief has gotten worse/stronger since bi buck because people have taken on the assumption that bi Buck happened as the first step in making buddie happen. That it would not have happened if buddie wasn’t the plan. Or that, if they can make bi Buck happen, surely they can make queer eddie happen, and by proxy, buddie. (I think this is one of the reasons they especially don’t like tommy. because “why is he here when buddie is supposed to be canon”). I largely disagree with that line of thinking and I also think with what we’ve been hearing in the interviews from the actors and Tim, Im not sure how people are clinging so tightly onto those beliefs.

I also think people forget to consider that there’s a general audience out here who are NOT there to read subtext within expressions and words, especially not in an network procedural. They’re going to take what’s being said at face value unless it is explicitly identified that someone may have *other* intentions through musical cues, obvious dialogue, expressions that don’t need to be paused on, etc.

Another thing I wanted to talk about and sorry to bombard you, is long term couple and the endgame conversation. I know endgame conversations aren’t fruitful because the shows still ongoing and external factors can affect situations, but when I look at buck and tommy and what they’ve set up with them, and with what I hope they can do in season 8, I can see them being “endgame” in the same regard as the other solidified couples on the show. Even with those couples we don’t necessarily know if they’re endgame since the show is still going and things could change, but in the world of the show, in the writing of the show, and in our minds, those couples are endgame and are each others other half. Like Maddie and Chim are it. Athena and Bobby are it. Hen and Karen are it. Just like that, I think Buck and Tommy could be it too, in the sense of the writing and not considering external, factors out of creative control.

I think the endgame conversation is different for shows like greys anatomy for instance where there was a revolving door of LI and couples and characters and you just never knew what you were going to get and where you were going. 911 is so different in that we’ve been with the same people since the very beginning and the three main couples have also been with each other since the very beginning. The only two characters who’ve had some what of a revolving door of LIs are buck and eddie, buck more so than eddie. Now going into the 8th season of the show, they’ve found someone for buck who feels largely different than his past LI in many ways and i think if it was earlier on in the shows run, I might be more hesitant to say they could easily be long term and in the running for endgame, but because we’re on s8, 911 is not cheap to make, the stories are seemingly running out, actors may want to move, etc etc, I think what they’ve done with tommy or tried to do with tommy is create a LI and by proxy a relationship that has the same lasting power as the already established relationships on the show. A relationship you can hopefully by the end of s8, see alongside the others, and think yeah this is just as good and believable as the others, albeit in their own unique ways!

You're not bombarding me, don't worry. Sorry I'll keep this one short as I touched a lot of the points you make here in a previous ask about BuckTommy's potential. Like you said, I find endgame talks very moot but BuckTommy has so much potential that none of Buck's or Eddie's previous love interests had. I think the biggest fail of all of these relationships was how hard it was to bring these women into the fold of the main plot and the group dynamic. Tommy already has so many established relationships with the characters. As a first responder, and specifically air op, he could open up the plot to so many new emergencies. And like I said, they laid the foundation for the romance so well that if they treat them with care in s8 like they did with Madney in s2, at the end of the season, they could make them feel as established as those relationships regardless of endgame conversation. So if they break it in s8, it wouldn't be because of a lack of potential but because a lack of execution imo.

And I totally agree with your point about the general audience. There are some shows that require the audience to look close, to interpret themes and events differently than what has been presented (one of my favorite shows, Black Sails for example, is brilliant at this). 9-1-1 is not that. This is not a diss or me bashing the show, it's just basic recognition of what type of media we're consuming here.

what led you to create it?

I wanted to find a place to share and talk about my stories and OCs and meet other creative minds.

The support. The overflowing creativity that inspires me to keep writing and the lovely people I've met so far.

That I appreciate every type of interaction, really. Even if you want to reach out to ramble about your stories, I always welcome it. ( Although I won't do the first step because I'm socially anxious and awkward)

is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?

I like my dash how it is, but I would love more positivity, any kind of positivity. People need to know that they are loved and appreciated, because everyone is.

which wips or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

I'm currently writing on a WIP called "Daisy." It's a werewolf romance story with some drama sprinkled in.

God, I don't know. Long? I often forget because I work on others in between so I lose track on when I started what.

On the one hand I am sick and tired of nostalgia bait trying to make up for shit writing to convince you that the movie is better than it actually is, but there is something special about Deadpool & Wolverine, No Way Home, and DOFP that the rest of the MCU just doesn’t have (did not actually see DP 2 and haven’t seen DP 1 since it came out).

I think the obvious dividing line is that these cameos serve a narrative purpose they’re not just there tossed in with the kitchen sink. I know Spiderman’s movies were by Sony but they fit the same vibe as what happened with Fox—these movies can only exist because they’ve been re-cast and remade and rebooted so many times, and because of the nature of these characters, and when the writers understand that that is the essence of a comic book character, that their story will never end, there will always be a new issue, a new evolution of them, so let’s embrace it instead of trying to fit it into an adaptation that dismisses it, it just works so well.

NWH does ride the nostalgia train a bit too hard, but Toby and Andrew still treated their roles, getting to be on screen again, play these characters again after their dismissal from the canon, regardless of what the actual story was about, that was special. The heart and soul those two brought to those characters was special.

DOFP is still regarded as one of if not the best X-Men movie, and it goes beyond the “nostalgia” of seeing the original actors working with the next generation, that movie felt like a passing of the torch in a way that didn’t crack jokes at the OG’s expense, like so many Marvel movies have done—laughing at themselves before the audience can laugh at them and making themselves really insincere and unable to embrace the cheesy corniness of what comic books are.

You could have a movie where every single iteration of Batman comes back in some DCU multiverse of madness, but so many of his adaptations are grimdark and serious that the only movie that kind of pulled it off was Lego Batman, and those fourth wall breaks were just a couple jokes, not literally having a script with tiny Lego Batman on screen acting across from the Bale Batman.

Not only that, these three movies didn’t just bring in cameos and toss their actors a sack of cash for a couple days of filming. It really felt like all these actors, who’ve all had if not awful adaptations, but less than thrilling ones, and even some great ones, are getting the chance to show the world/Hollywood/whatever that they were given up on too quickly, that they still had more left in them—and Hugh Jackman acting his ass off in DP&W just goes to show it. Dude has played the same character I think more than anyone else in comic book history? If not, he’s very close, or at least spans the most years in his role. He could have phoned it in, showed up and did the bare minimum, but he didn’t, and he gave a version of Wolverine that is both so like the character we’ve seen on screen for 20 years, and something new, because this isn’t our Wolverine.

And of course all the other cameos—the oldest Fox movie I’ve seen is the first Spiderman. I recognized Wesley Snipes and knew that Jennifer Garner was important, knew her weapons were significant, but I didn’t realize who she was until they said her name. I just know that her movie was pretty bad. The meta narrative of a Fox send-off victory lap, giving these characters and actors one last chance to give it all they’ve got just felt like it was done from a place of deep respect for comics, cinema, and the legacy of these movies—X-Men ran so the MCU could fly. It didn’t feel like assembly line MCU schlock at all.

So while I really, sincerely hope that the higher powers at Marvel don’t look and go “oh so they do like nostalgia bait,” this felt like so much more than “nostalgia bait”. I do not need more of it at all, but if this was the send-off that Fox never got when Disney ate it, then this movie and the end credits BTS montage was, at least I think, the best they could have done with it.

Just say you hate Eleven don’t beat around the bush with listing all the reasons Will deserves a prize. “deserves the boy he loves” right and where does Mikes feelings coming into that exactly? So far I’ve learned there two sets of fans the ones who fancy finn and want to see him kiss boys as some weird fantasy and the others who adore Will and feel he deserves what he wants without thinking of the other party.

Only in the ST fandom can someone take a reasonable sentence like, “After four seasons of trauma, Will deserves a happy ending” and utterly twist it to mean, “I hate El and want her to be alone and miserable grrr.” It’s also wild how you can glean “Will deserves a prize” from my words when that’s not at all what I said. I don’t see Mike as a “prize” for Will. That’d be ridiculous. I see them as equals- because that’s what they are: lifelong best friends who’ve been through so much, consistently put each other first, and have made multiple beautiful promises to each other.

“But you said, ‘Will has suffered so much and deserves a happy ending with the boy he loves.’ How is that not proving my point?” Yes, I did say that, and I would say it again in a heartbeat. Will has suffered so much. Here’s a refresher on just some of his trauma. Given the context of everything, given the significance of Will’s sexuality to both his coming-of-age journey and the 80s, it would be genuinely cruel to not give him a happy ending. And it’s not Byler shippers on the Internet, but the show itself, that has consistently tied this happy ending to Mike. It’s been reinforced in every season, and the writers and filmmakers doubled-down on it in Season 4 through the van scene and through aggressively inserting Will into every Milkvan scene so that he’s always on your mind. S3 brought up their hypothetical question of the future through the rain fight, and it also had Will very specifically saying, “I’m not gonna fall in love.” This was not placed in the show so he could be proven right in S5 when Mike iNeViTaBlY rejects him. Be serious.

As I said in my post, this has nothing to do with thinking unreciprocated storylines don’t serve a purpose in media. Obviously they do! Stranger Things has given us a few: Dustin and Max, Steve and Robin, and Steve and Nancy (after they broke up). It is also given us another which I will talk about in a second, although this one comes with a twist. Dustin was crushing on the attractive new girl in school, as was Lucas. Max chose Lucas and fell for him. Dustin was sad about it, sure. The Snowball dance emphasized his general sadness as well as his unluckiness with girls at the time. Narratively, dancing with Nancy was the healing moment he needed to move on. It propelled his character to his Season 3 glow up, where he surprises his friends with news that he is dating Suzie. Dustin liked Max, but he wasn’t in love with Max, built upon a lifelong friendship. The situation is just structurally different.

Steve and Robin? Well, you know the story. Steve developed feelings for Robin (after Dustin pushed him in that direction, I might add) over the course of S3. But Robin was like, “Psyche! I’m a lesbian. Let’s be best friends,” and platonic Stobin was born. Notice there was no grief on Steve’s part. Steve was shocked, sure, but he wasn’t heartbroken. He bounced back in a heartbeat and fully accepted her sexuality. And then the season ends with their friendship shenanigans at the video store. Again, this was a crush. And it had a very interesting plot twist at the end of it. And it served a very specific purpose in Steve’s journey.

In terms of Steve and Nancy, there was more heartbreak involved, since they were actually dating. And in S4, it’s clear that Steve has never fully gotten over Nancy, or at least he thinks he hasn’t gotten over her. But narratively, this just serves a fundamentally different purpose than the situation between Mike and Will. Steve believes he needs romantic love to be happy, so his arc is accepting that he doesn’t. Also, as a presumed straight character (even though I love the bi Steve HCs), he doesn’t have the same kind of existential crisis that Will, a sad gay boy in the 80s, does.

The fourth unreciprocated storyline is an interesting one cause it’s not actually unreciprocated at all. It just seems that way. And of course, I’m talking about Robin and Vickie. Robin has feelings for Vickie, but when she sees Vickie with her boyfriend Dan, she assumes all hope is lost. But alas, all hope is not lost! Vickie is queer too and has feelings for Robin as well. You just have to take off your heteronormative glasses to recognize it. Sound similar to something else?

I bring this up because while Byler shares surface-level similarities to these other unrequited storylines, it visually parallels the situation with Robin and Vickie. So don’t be surprised when Mike, like Vickie, turns out not to be straight. And character wise, it’s deeper than all the other examples by miles. Dustin got over Max, Steve got over Robin, Steve is just looking for any girlfriend tbh, and S4 showed Robin getting over Vickie before the plot twist. Will and Mike are lifelong best friends, and a slow-burn rejection arc would not only make no sense, in-universe it would structurally derail Byler’s powerful connection and interrupt key plots already in motion during the apocalypse.

You forget that these aren’t real people. They are characters. In real life, sure, sometimes you don’t get what you want. Sometimes gay kids fall in love with their lifelong straight best friends, get gently rejected, and then life goes on eventually. In real life, saying, “But I have suffered, so you must love me back,” would be insane. And Will agrees. The homewrecker allegations need to stop. In the context of the show, Will doesn’t think that Mike loves him back. He doesn’t think love can be for boys like him. It rips him apart and tears him inside for sure, but all throughout S4 he’s the one trying to repair his bestie’s relationship while being madly in love with him. Will thinks he will be forever alone, and your argument is that he should be proven right?

Of course, I adore Will. He’s my favorite character, and I’m a proud member of the Willuminati. The shoe fits, and I will wear it. But I saw this Tweet today that I had to screenshot, and it applies directly to the subtext of your ask:

No one should find it strange or delusional or creepy that people ship Will with the boy he’s into. Calling it a “weird fantasy” in any context is inherently homophobic and weird behavior. You simply would not say that about any other ship in the show. Admit that you find queerness icky. Don’t hide behind faux concern for El.

Lastly, I must directly respond to your question,“Where do Mike’s feelings come into that exactly? Why do Bylers feel Will deserves what he wants without thinking of the other party?”

What are you even saying? Accusing Bylers of not thinking about Mike is the strangest accusation considering there are 50 essays per day posted on this app diving into the psychology of Mike. Mike’s feelings are powerful. Mike’s feelings are important. I could just as easily have written a post that said, “After everything Mike has been through, he deserves a happy ending with the boy he loves” because Mike clearly loves Will. It is overflowing out of him. If you analyze and “think of the other party” as you put it, it becomes crystal-clear where Mike’s feelings come into play and what his happy ending is. Hint: it’s not with the girl he can’t even write ILY to.

I could have written about Mike, but my post was about Will, who is canonically gay, deeply traumatized, and whose sexuality is not in doubt. Will deserves a happy ending. “But El is also traumatized, and she deserves a happy ending as well.” Agreed, but her happy ending and the overall trajectory of her character arc simply do not center Mike. El’s arc is rooted in her independence, and I could do a deep-dive analysis comparing and contrasting Will and El and explaining why romantic love is central to Will’s endgame but not to El’s. But I’m sure there are fifty of those already on this platform. I want Mike, Will, and El to all have happy endings.

Once more I’m quite unsure as to why everyone feels the need to ignore the source material. Season 3 not being about Benophie still boggles my mind because why???!??!! Not to be a hater but Colin is uninteresting and unattractive (no hate to the actor he’s just not my type) to me. And I personally can’t stand Penelope (once again no hate to the actress) so I’m not really interested in this season tbh. On a side note there is a possibility to make Sophie a illegitimate granddaughter of Charlotte especially since in Queen Charlotte she says along the lines of how there are 50 illegitimate grand babies that [she] the crown ignores.

I know what you mean anon. Nothing against either of the actors playing the characters or the fans who like the ship, but Polin just isn't my cup of tea.

We all have our faves and mine is Benophie. I’m a Benophie and then a Franchael girl through and through.

That being said, despite me being a Benophie girl I don’t mind that they’ve skipped over Benedict. I mean I was initially pissed the hell off about it, but I think I understand now why Shonda did what she did.

This is gonna sound nonsensical, and weird, and is probably going to piss someone off(lol I’m the queen of that apparently👑), but there have been back to back to back interracial couples in Bridgerton.

I’m almost positive Sophie is going to be Black(🤞🏽) and while this show prides itself on diversity, I think they wanted to give white audiences a bone. So for that reason, she chose to push Polin’s season ahead.

Plus I think Shonda sees herself in Penelope(writer, “working woman,” the wallflower, and hater of other women💀).

I’m kinda glad she did push Polin’s season forward given what happened with the strike situation…

I do not mind waiting another two years for Benophie. I’ll “suffer” through this season for them and who knows, this season may surprise me and I may end up loving it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Now regarding, Sophie’s parentage, it would be interesting if they made her an illegitimate grandkid of Queen Charlotte and see how she has to deal with that. How the queen interacts with her, as well as the rest of the ton.

(I don’t think that in this scenario her being a bastard would be hidden or not common knowledge).

I know some people aren’t too fond of Sophie being Black🙃 a maid while Benedict is who is.

Her being QC's illegitimate granddaughter would be a way to kinda pivot from her being a maid while keeping the fact that she’s a bastard without a proper place in society.

I feel like the former is less important than her being the latter. She’s more than just her employment.

Sophie has to deal with the fact that she was robbed of a proper childhood, protection, financial security, love, and a sense of belonging. Yet she still manages to be a kind considerate human being with staunch morals and principles.

(I love girls who’ve been through so much, but still manage to survive and thrive. I blame Jane Eyre).

As long as Shonda tackles those issues and we see Benedict falling head over heels for her(even when he thinks he’s fallen for two different women🤣)I’m good with whatever happens.

The show has already made a lot of changes to the book. Some good some bad, but making Sophie one of many bastard grandchildren of the crown makes the most sense and has the potential to be the most interesting(for me at least).

I feel like the writers screwed up monumentally with how they're going to have to introduce Cborn into the show because Elrond has been there in his place and what's more is that he and her have been though the same kind of trauma and pain. At this point, people like Celebrimbor, Gil galad, and Elronds been doing all the heavy lifting with helping Galadriel deal with her issues with Sauron. Meanwhile Cborn probably just going to get shoehorned into a manic pixie savior guy role (while not having a fking clue what he missed out on her life) and it would just make him look like a comic relief clown in the eyes of ppl aren't partial to him but may change their mind if the writers actually cared about presenting him in a respectful, credible way and bothered to try to write him as such. It's so weird how they didn't bother to put in Cborn until later, when it looks like Galadriel has already gotten over her issues with trusting Sauron thanks to her friends at the end of S2. At this point, all I can see is them just putting him in as a reward at the very end (which isn't canon compliant, but shoot, they wrote over his role in the show, might as well commit to it).

I genuinely don't think they'll bring him back at all.

Maybe this is me being a b*tch but… What exactly would Celeborn's presence bring to the table except confusion, messed up timelines, lack of chemistry, chaos in the already created relationships?

Though I do agree with everything you said.

The absence of Celeborn has already cemented the show’s direction, and the writers seem to be positioning Galadriel’s character growth in a way that would make his reappearance feel redundant and misplaced. Let’s be real—characters like Elrond, and all the squad have been her actual support system, actively helping her face her trauma and navigate the aftermath of her relentless pursuit of Sauron. Each of these characters has contributed significantly to her journey, and they’ve been written as her equals, not as romantic " saviors". Their relationships are full of mutual respect, shared pain, and genuine companionship, which has deepened the emotional impact of her arc.

Dropping Celeborn in now would risk cheapening all of that development.

Period.

And not just with Elrond.

Celeborn's been absent for the key moments that have defined her journey, and there’s no organic way to introduce him as an integral part of her story without undercutting everything she’s gained through her friendships, bonds and healing so far. For him to suddenly show up and expect to pick up where he left off would likely feel hollow. It would be a forced insertion that ignores the continuity of her relationships with those who’ve been beside her, who understand her in a way that Celeborn simply can’t, having been out of the picture for so long.

And frankly, this “savior” approach would not only undermine Galadriel’s journey but would also do Celeborn’s character no favors.

How are they supposed to introduce him without making him seem like an out-of-touch “trophy husband reward thing” who’s only there to complete her story?

It’s just not needed, and it would almost certainly relegate him to a background role where he’d be little more than a footnote to the emotional bonds Galadriel has already formed. The show has made her arc about her inner strength, her healing, and the people she trusts with her heart and mind—not a distant husband who’s done none of the “heavy lifting” that her friends have done for her.

Realistically, I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers never bring Celeborn in at all.

They’ve built a meaningful narrative around Galadriel without him, and to introduce him now would complicate a story that’s already found its rhythm and momentum without him. It seems far more fitting to leave her as she is now: standing on her own and supported by the friendships she’s actively invested in, even turning her bond with Elrond as romance and more.

A late reappearance by Celeborn would feel more like a distraction than a respectful nod to canon. And it would take away from the hard-earned emotional progress she’s made with those who truly understand her burdens and struggles.

The writers don’t need to “complete” her with a character who’s been absent the entire time. They’d be better off committing to the narrative they’ve built, rather than tossing in a hollow nod to a canon relationship that has, frankly, no real place in the story they’re telling.

Err- Real life, I guess? My dreams, too. I take what I see and make it into a story.

My first drafts tend to be really neat, so singing. My singing's atrocious.

Err- My AO3 contains things I would rather not share with this mostly family-friendly blog, but my wordcount's about 30k there. In total, though? 250k words or so.

q8) what movie/book/fic gripped you irrevocably?

Lolita, definitely. I read it as a 13 year old, then as a 15 year old, and as a 17 year old, and it still breaks my heart every time.

q9) what’s the highest compliment you could ever be given, and have you been given it?

The highest compliment would be for someone to say I made them cry/rage/laugh from my writing, and I'm pleased to say I once managed to send a friend into a fit of fury from my writing (it was Heroes that did it, mind you. She really hated Mara.)

q10) what defines your writing style?

I experiment a lot with styles, but I'd say I have 2 main ones. The more high-fantasy descriptive style, and something lighter and more fast-paced.

Not more, but I'd like to see less politics. My life's stressful enough without that stuff

I'm still dying from The Fae Prince, because holy crap that came out of nowhere and took my brain by storm.

I never work on projects for long, sadly. I just don't have the attention span for them! My oldest active project right now is Mind of a Mercenary, and it's 7 months old (I started it on New Year's Eve last year)

do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

Yeah. Luna's been a fav of mine since I was a 14 year old, and I always wanted to tell her story. I felt I hadn't done it justice the previous two times I wrote it, so I tried again!

I only actually think about writing when I'm actively writing, haha. So about 2 hours a day?

Horror and fantasy! It's pretty easy cos I'm a stickler for those genres.

Naturally, Hans-el, as long as I don't take too close a look at what I'm typing. Otherwise, Luna. Her inner monologue sounds an awful lot like mine.

do you ever cringe at them?

All the time.

how much control do you feel you have over your characters? do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? to what degree? are some less cooperative than others?

That depends. The more I write about a character, the more they refuse to follow instructions. That's what makes Ina so damn hard to write. Woman's lived in my head for a good 15 or so years, now.

what makes you want to follow another writeblr account? do you follow ‘em as you see ‘em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? do you follow based on wips, or vibes?

I follow them as I see 'em!

what makes you decide against following?

Too much politics. I cannot express how much I hate to see politics on my dash. I have real life for that stuff. Also too much religion/ideology. The only things I tolerate on my dash are fandom, cats, and writblr stuff.

do you interact with non-mutuals often?

Occasionally? I mean, I do try to reach out to whoever I see in the community, even if I haven't followed them yet.

do your mutuals’ characters occupy space in your noodle?

My noodle is currently occupied by JavaScript, so no. But soon, I will have time to go binge everyone's writing again, and I will find my next obsession amongst my moots' writing!

Hi! Feel free not to answer this ask because I know the discourse topic of lestat’s cheating is most definitely a dead horse at this point in the fandom but I wanted to send you some thoughts. I’ve been seeing some of the new viewers from Max who’ve now watched the show simply labelling and dismissing lestat as The Cheater which does sadden me a bit to see how the nuance of loustat’s relationship (from a book fan pov) has been reduced to that because of those particular choices by the writers. I don’t mean to be too negative and I think the nuance IS there in the show, I like so much of what the writers did, but did something like excessively circling back to lestat’s infidelity overshadows too much of the actual core reasons for the families inevitable doom in NOLA? Because I understand how new viewers not picking up some of the other layers to it. In the book the stuff with Antoine is certainly there but that’s at the end of 60 years together as opposed to in the show where it’s like 25 or so years on and off cheating out of 30 years together, it does change things. Do you think that writing choice was the right one in the show or does it depend on if they revisit it in the future? It’s hard as a book fan for me personally to make that call because in the books the relationships are far more fluid, ambiguous, between the lines and all that, so what was and wasn’t infidelity throughout the chronicles just isn’t ever the main concern, there are allusions to jealousy but never betrayal quite like in the show, but the show is doing it’s own thing and maybe this is how iwtv lestat would act in a more monogamous traditional relationship with Louis in this time period, it’s hard to call.

It is weird (to me), that the focus Louis put on Lestat's cheating... works so well.

Because yes, within the tale Antoinette serves as the "reason". The reason Louis is so destroyed, the reason he is depressed, the reason why Claudia is mad. The reason why Louis is suffering so bitterly.

Convenient, isn't it. :)

Because they were threatened. Louis has a hard time with the right of passage. Louis also has a hard time killing (and an eating disorder), and a hard time with the lack of intimacy coming from the lack of libido. Louis chokes on his own hypocrisy, and the choices he made. His guilt. Louis has bouts of depression. Louis withholds, to punish.

Of course the cheating doesn't help, how could it.

But Louis very skillfully directs the focus of the tale ("Let the tale seduce you") to that aspect of the relationship, and the impact it (undoubtedly) had.

But... others have pointed it out, too (recently saw a post on Twitter, reposted by @neilcfreak there iirc??) that Antoinette... does not quite fit with the tale. Her hairstyle, her clothes. That she doesn't age (until she's turned). The finger thing. And also: the cross-dressing (and a likely resemblance to Gabrielle, I would imagine)

Personally I think the whole Antoinette arc is not yet through.

Maybe she'll be the one accusing them on the stage in Paris. It's certainly possible, and then it would be a heightening of that arc, in a sense.

And maybe... you know I wouldn't put it past Rolin and the writers to go more book canon there and let her show up in Dubai. Because we know already that they're taking from "Prince Lestat". And we know that the tale was not as it was told, at least not completely. We know already that they want to revisit everything and that it will "change how we saw season 1".

And that is indeed very interesting - but not just because it fits Louis.

Because Louis does not need to eavesdrop here imho, he is literally in the same room.

But… outside Antoine(tte) is.

Antoine. Subject of the novel. Antoine(tte), tasked to eavesdrop on Louis and Claudia, to keep an eye on them, to follow them. Isolated from them, too.

In the book Antoine is quite soft and somewhat remote, very much intellectually driven and by music, melancholic and socially isolated, something that must have happened to Antoinette as well while she waited those 20 years(?) for Lestat to turn her.

Yet he felt ugly, loathsome, unfit to live, existing from moment to moment like an addict. He gravitated to the crippled, the diseased, the bohemian, and the downtrodden when he wanted an evening of conversation, just a little cerebral companionship. It kept him from weeping. It kept him from killing too brutally and indiscriminately. He slept in graveyards when he could find a large and secret crypt, or in cons in cellars, and now and then almost trapped by the sun he dug straight down into the moist Mother Earth, uttering a prayer that he would die there. [...] Antoine would have gone out west to see Lestat on the stage. But he was still struggling with the simplest difficulties of life in the late twentieth century when the massacres began.

I think that book is another meta commentary on the truth bleeding through and a direct reference to Antoine. Maybe these books are Louis' subconscious, depending on whether he changed that memory/tale himself... or not.

And so... I can totally see the show take Antoine's characterization and return from "Prince Lestat" to be honest.

We'll see.

But as with all the things about this show I don't think it can be fully analyzed yet. We simply do not have the full picture yet. And so... I'm not 100% sure we are that far from book canon, actually. In fact, I think we may be much closer in some aspects than previously thought.

But we'll see. Season 2 will tell :)

The cheating definitely seems to be what people get worked up most though, which is exactly why the focus is where it is I think...

Do I have to have an AO3/tumblr account to participate?

All participants need an AO3 account and an email where we can reach you.  If you don’t have an account at AO3, request an invite from directly from the Archive or contact the mods.

How do I sign-up?

Click on sign-up form. Think of each request as a description of a fic you want. Tag each request with the pairing you'd like and make sure to have any Do Not Want's (DNW's) listed for each pairing. For example if you'd prefer no genderswap/rule 63 or no smut, make sure this is written under each pairing these DNW's apply to.

For offers (remember you have to offer three, but you can offer up to 10!) please put pairings that you would be okay with creating for, but also remember to put things you will not write. A bit more than three months I think!

What led you to create it?

I wanted to follow a specific creator. Then I started looking around Tumblr a bit more and realized people shared their writing on here and got excited. 

What’s your favourite thing about the writeblr community?

I feel like everyone is so nice and supportive. At least in my experience so far. And I love that!

What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?

I talk a lot. You might already know that. If i'm ever a little too much i'm so sorry. I talk WAY too much sometimes.

Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?

Maybe a bit more different accounts. I love you guys but my dash is kinda all the same people over and over again lmao.

Which wips or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

Well definitely BRS as it’s my main WIP. But I had a dream about a really old WIP of mine last night so now it’s sort of just stuck in my brain.

I've been working on BRS for about three months!

i know i’ve said this so many times that it feels obnoxious at this point, and trust me, i’m as tired of saying it as (those of) you (who this doesn’t apply to) are of hearing it, but i need to reiterate it one last time. honestly, this is more of a rant than anything, but these thoughts have been on my mind for a while and i’ll just be glad to get them out. maybe this is making a big deal out of something quite small, but it wouldn’t have to be if people would actually listen/care.

i want to start off by saying if you’re someone who doesn’t have an age or an indicator of it on your blog, and the title of this post annoys you, you can go ahead and unfollow me right now.

or don’t, because i’m going to block you sooner or later anyway. which i realise sounds harsh, but apparently being polite about it isn’t getting me, or any of the other 18+ only blogs on here who are constantly repeating themselves, anywhere so i don’t care about being polite anymore.

the cheap price of literally nothing but having some numbers in your bio is still too high for some of you to ‘pay’ to read mine and others’ work. like we’re writing stuff you can read for FREE and all that us nsfw writers ask is that you have an age on your blog — yet some people still refuse to do that much. it’s not only disappointing, but also straight up disrespectful. there’s blogs who’ve been following me for WEEKS who still don’t have an age indicator, despite me posting about it regularly and despite it being clearly stated on my pinned post.

believe it or not, i don’t want to block you. some of you are always in my notifications, interacting with my posts, and especially when you reblog mine/my moots’ works, i recognise you, and seeing you makes me really happy! but when i check your blog and see that you don’t have an age on it, that’s telling me you’re seeing my reminders but you just don’t fucking care.

it’s all well and good interacting with me and my posts, but if you can’t even respect the simplest of boundaries, i don’t care whether you’re actually a minor or not. you are obviously too lazy or don’t care about me as an actual person as much as you care about the content you get to see on your timeline.

maybe you have your reasons, like maybe:

you’re not comfortable sharing your specific age. that’s totally fine! you can tell me in my dms if you’d like to. if not, anything from the year (e.g. 02’ liner) or the decade (e.g. 90s baby) you were born to an appropriate age range (e.g. 19-23) etc. will suffice. if you’re unwilling to do at least that, then i’m sorry but my blog is not for you.

you’re new to tumblr and don’t know where, or how to set up your blog. in that case, you google it. yahoo it. bing it. i don’t care. use the internet you clearly have access to and find out. there’s plenty of tutorials, you just have to look for them. or ask a friend or a mutual. you can dm me your age just so i’m aware until you figure it out.

you don’t have time. in that case, i don’t fucking believe you lol. if you have the time to read a whole fic, you have the time to punch in a two digit number into someplace on your blog — or to find out how, and then do so.

some of you don’t have an excuse though. some of you will list literally everything about yourself but your age on your blog?? you clearly know how to use tumblr, you clearly know where to put info about yourself, you clearly have time so... maybe you clearly just do not care enough to do the bare minimum of reading my byf or my pinned post.

also, it genuinely does not matter, nor do i care, where you actually put your age. whether it’s in your bio, your title or a pinned post, as long as it’s there, in some place i can access, it doesn’t matter.

i think i’ve talked about everything i wanted to, so to end this post on a more positive note, i want to thank the people who actually listen. i, nor anyone else, should be having to thank people for doing the bare minimum, but, at least in my experience, when you’re having to block 9 out of 10 blogs that follow you on a regular basis, you can get pretty used to the constant disappointment, and seeing that 1 blog who actually has an age on their blog can be pretty relieving lol so thank you<3

TPoD chapters 7, 8, 9, 10:

I’m done! and this was the worst fucking experience of my life! I’m never rereading any of Perrin’s plotlines, sorry. It was far worser than I remember it being.

consensus is still out on whether or not perrin is interested in berelain. I understand his noticing her perfume - he can’t help that. I don’t vibe with him saying she needs to dress a certain way or deliberately trying to pick out hints of flirtation when she’s literally just discussing their next course of action. 

- It is so weird to see perrin talking about how he only gets along with and trusts grady and neald and doesn’t trust any of the women in his group. partly because they have differing opinions about how to go about accomplishing certain tasks. it’s also really weird that this happens on the heels of dumai’s wells where the asha’man brutally slaughtered the shaido, too. the gender essentialism in this series really brings down its overall quality. Another point to note is the fact that perrin gets along with the the two guys who’ve been taught (by rand) to cultivate no personality apart from being soldiers + he avoids any actual interaction with people who have strong opinions. 

- I think I don’t like reading about faile when she’s around perrin sadfjkdhf - it’s like perrin’s default mode is managing to push some trigger that manages to piss her off. I like her and think she could’ve been a great character if she’d never interacted with perrin though. And although I complain about the shaido plot a lot faile’s POVs in it were fantastic - partly because she’s divorced from Perrin’s presence - and were such a treat to read.

- honestly this section of his POV is kind of pointless. I don’t think there’s any need for faile, seonid + wise ones and berelain to fight for the right to approach alliandre - rand specifically chose berelain to approach her with annoura! But narratively it does do a very good job of establishing the fact that there are many power dynamics at play here, which I think that was what RJ might have been trying to establish.

He’s fully making shit up at this point. Just let her exist, oh my god. Why is he looking for a flirtation in every gesture??? Literally it’s hard to not believe that Perrin fully encourages Berelain to keep hitting on him.

- Morgase is another female character who gets caught up in this useless plot ugh. It’s just trauma sequences after trauma sequence for Morgase and I pity her so much.

This is with reference to morgase just because she was very mildly rude to him despite his insisting that aram not call him a lord moments before - also I don’t like the way perrin talks about women yeuch

- I think RJ being a “discover as I write” sort of writer does affect how he writes a lot - there are some clarifications for plot that don’t necessarily always make sense later on. there are also introductions to things characters struggle with without any real basis for it and sometimes manages to be all over the place - mostly perrin and his relationship with violence and responsibility was done very badly (the show does better on the front but it obviously had a whole established canon to work with already which is always an easier task).

- masema & the cult plotline is integral to exploring the various facets of how the dragon reborn affects the cultural and religious landscape in the continent, just like how the seanchan are important narratively to explore how a flipped power dynamic between channelers and non channelers would look. rand is not a saviour - RJ hammers that point in constantly - but he plays a role that’s very closely associated with saviourism since a) it’s so tied up with the struggle versus good and evil b) has a history of false dragons fashioning themselves as saviours, so cults are naturally a very interesting angle to explore. but also like every other plotline perrin touches, it fails to be dealt with in any interesting way. I genuinely enjoyed what we saw of it in TFoH and I hate that it eventually deteriorates into a mess.

where is the struggle against violence. I just don’t get it. why is killing with a hammer better than killing with an axe? I still don’t get it.

perrin: killing? violence? I don’t care. I’ll do it all for faile. 

ugh. I guess that is the point of the whole shaido arc but I still can’t bring myself to care about it.

and yet.jpg. why is it that perrin is obsessing over his followers not following his orders to the T while he’s disregarding all of rand’s instructions? I hate him so much. 

Well! my earlier point stands! why the fuck does perrin get along with them better than with the women. lol.

- I hate SO much that the mantheren plotline was passed on to perrin. I hate it!! on principle I can’t stand the thought of a dead nation being resurrected in that fashion because it falls back on uncomfortable ideas of (mostly) autocratic rulers using history to justify their rule and manipulate people into accepting it. I also hate that it gets rid of the semi-democratic rule the two rivers had. but there were ways in which it could’ve been executed well - I really liked how the band of the red hand was sort of resurrected in the same fashion (although that was mostly a symbolism thing, obviously). in conclusion: give the plotline back to mat!!

- Arrela! hi! she’s described as “tall and dark” and masculine. one of THE canonical lesbians. 

I mean at least Faile looks out for the people who follow her. Perrin has exactly ONE guy who’s super attached to him and he manages to let even him down.

- TBH a plot mostly focussed on convincing Alliandre to join them and seeing the women do politics in Ghealdan - and also potentially dealing with a more whitecloack/amadicia focused plot - would have been a far more interesting plotline than Perrin wandering around the countryside trying to save his kidnapped wife.

- ohhh now that perrin mentioned them I’m sad we didn’t see more of the algai’d’siswai! they were just as fascinating as the prophet plotline still was back in book 5 but RJ just kind of forgot about it. 

- Faile convinces perrin not to inform rand about news of seanchan in amador because ‘maighdin’ tells her that messengers and pigeons were carrying the news anywhere. Hand Of The Author, I see you. Rand needed that news! How long would it take an asha’man to inform him and hop back to ghealdan? why is travelling never used to the extent it should be in the books?

here’s a suggestion! stop smelling her all the time! A person’s thoughts on a matter will never necessarily reflect what they’re feeling because emotional responses are at the very best knee-jerk reactions and can’t be controlled or modulated the way logic can be!

- I can’t emphasise this enough but their ‘romance’ is non-existent. They make terrible partners! They’re too different to make things work. (This is not to say people who’re unalike can’t get along - but Perrin and Faile are no Elayne and Aviendha).

- I do like Lini as a character but I think my fondness for her dropped significantly after she tried to have morgase and tallanvor forcibly married. I hate it so much, and I don’t really like that she’s so rude and forceful with morgase after everything she endured in amador - I do get that she’s concerned that their cover will be blown, but... I refuse lol. I don’t like this plotline. morgase should’ve gone back to caemlyn - faile would’ve still shone in her shaido plotline even if morgase hadn’t been a part of it. I hate powerful women suddenly being shoved into servant-master dynamics!!! it happened with siuan once already! why aren’t the men forced to do such things?

- I do genuinely believe RJ enjoyed writing his women a lot but I don’t like his choice to make women inflict shame on themselves as a form of punishment in order to repent their actions. It goes hand in hand with a lot of (evil) female characters ending up enslaved & the female forsaken being abused to be taught a lesson. 

- ‘Tallanvor was too young’ sir, you literally paired moiraine and thom & gareth and siuan & morgase and thom 😭

I think. I think brandon sanderson came up with the idea that an apprentice should just Know when they’re fit to be a wise one. I definitely got that feeling while I was reading the books because it was such a Brandon Sanderson thing and kind of nonsensical, honestly. It was just a ploy to keep aviendha away from rand in the gathering storm. ugh, I’m going to blame him for min and aviendha not bonding too. 

- If a man uses the word ‘wench’ he goes down on my shit list! so elyas is on my shit list! if he wasn’t already, for being the source which delivers the news that saldaean women like their husbands to take a firm hand with them or whatever.

- was I always predisposed to disliking perrin because I hate werewolves? possibly.

- alliandre!!!!

WHATEVER WAS NECESSARY TO SECURE THE ALLIANCE, BASICALLY??? What else would berelain tell alliandre -

- honestly shout out to alliandre for making the best of so many terrible situations. she had to deal with the prophet, the threat of the seanchan, the threat of rand once he conquered illian, and then perrin trying to ‘raise manetheren’ and the shaido.

and yet he gets mad when faile is less subtle when she’d trying to guide/influence him.

- worldbuilding notes: perrin can apparently smell desperation but not guilt, lol.

lmaoooo I actually did enjoy this faile POV a lot since perrin wasn’t in it! even if she and berelain sort of bickered! but it wasn’t annoying at all, and was kind of fun, actually.

- Berelain supports faile when she’s discussing politics with alliandre even if faile just technically insulted her! I love her.

- Berelain is very pleased with one of faile’s manipulations of alliandre!

Yeah, I think I’m going to stick with the line that perrin never gives berelain a firm no. Would this have stopped her from pursuing him? It’s hard to say because she’s angling for political advantage, but faile mentions that perrin conducts himself as if he believes he’s a prize that berelain and faile have to struggle over. And he’s constantly using his enhanced senses to predict what faile is feeling instead of asking her what she’s thinking which are two very different things! I just. I honestly don’t know how RJ could have enjoyed writing any of his POVs, lol, they’re so boring and full of contrived conflicts. He should’ve killed perrin off in the middle of the series because it would’ve done a good job of building tension (although he probably would have never done that even if he’d considered it since he’d established that perrin and mat would play integral roles to secure rand’s success in the last battle).

I don’t write a lot of angst endings but I guess the one that comes closest is “An Opening Scene” (which is my version of how an opening scene to a new Jatp season would be)

The WIP I’ve had for the LONGEST TIME is one where I had this idea for like a Willex date but it turns into like Juke date too so it’s double date kind of thing, this is the lil note I have in the document for it that’s to myself so I don’t forget what it’s about,

It’s just been a WIP for so long at this point 😭

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to say that “I think in dialogue” when it comes to writing bc whenever I’m writing anything in my head, the dialogue is more prominent than the imagery in my brain. To me, it’s easier to hear how characters interact with one another in my head compared to what’s happening visually.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

To me, it’s hard to do description and not just make it a giant wall of text bc in books when I see that I find it distracting at times if it’s just like description over and over again, it does depend on the wording and if it’s “boring” or not. I just don’t want to make scenes that feel boring, I want to keep the reader invested.

It’s hard for me to fully translate what’s in my head into visual words

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I’m not against it I just haven’t done it all too often

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I was in 7th grade, became obsessed with Miraculous Ladybug, had already written like 3 fics on paper (most during class) but I decided that wasn’t enough and sought out like fics online and discovered wattpad which is when I had the thought “I wonder if someone has already written this thing that I want to read?” And no one had in the specific way I wanted to read about so I wrote it myself… …when I was like 13… …so it’s not great and I cringe a lot when I look back at it but I still maintain that book to this day :) it’s a nice lil time capsule of like how my writing has involved and I continue to have ideas for it

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

“Right Where I Need To Be” (my Jatp Camp Rock AU) has a special place in my heart bc it basically was the first multi-chapter fic I’ve ever done especially for Jatp. I just had such a fun time with the AU and all the dynamics there were to be made. The comment reactions were so fun to get and I looked forward to reading them whenever I published a new part! (it do still be on hiatus 💀 I haven’t forgotten about it! It’s just life gets in the way but I have some parts written for the like “part 2” of it I just want them to be more put together before I release them)

I do also have a couple one shots I made for Miraculous that I look back on and I’m like “oh that’s a good one 🥰”

Demoncest? Really?

The Obey Me fandom has some pretty weird ideas. Sometimes I can dismissively wave my hand and ignore it because I know that when you’re young you can have some pretty offbeat ideas that you’re absolutely sure about because you don’t have enough life experience and/or weren’t paying close attention. Heck, I’m 62 and I still have those, but at least I’ve reached the point where if someone explains why I was wrong, I can feel stupid, apologize, and stop thinking/saying the stupid things from then on. Most of the time. I hope.

But, come on. The boys are brothers in name only. Brothers by choice. Brothers in arms. And fanfic writers who want to ship any of the characters together are welcome to do so. I don’t see it myself, so I don’t write it, but I’ve seen some authors do it, and do it so well that it seems perfectly believable, even for me. I like that they can take aspects of the characters and expand upon them in a way that may not be game canon, but *could* be. 

A lot of this anti-demoncest stuff ignores not only the fact that the demons aren’t really brothers, not even related (except maybe Lucifer and Satan, but putting those two together as a romantic pair seems like an exercise in self-flagellation to me,) but that the game itself has Asmo coming on to his own brothers, Solomon, Barbatos, and even Diavolo. Yeah, that’s Asmo, avatar of lust - you should be concerned more if he *doesn’t* do this.

Of course, he’s also crazy about mc, and most of the mcs are female, plus there’s “Popular With The Ladies,” so you know he’s not defined by some limited gender role. (I don’t like him being portrayed as gay, or the gay best friend, either, because I believe the only thing that limits his pursuits is consent. That demon is pansexual as anything.) But right from the beginning, the first thing he wanted to do when he and Beel accidentally switched bodies in Season 1 was get naked and do some exploring. I still laugh to myself every time I think of him telling Lucifer he looked so good he could climb him like a mast in the Cruise event. Barbatos reprimanded him for getting too handsy right on the dance floor. He never stops asking, but he always stops when asked to stop.

The devs put these Asmo moments throughout the game, so I think we’re *supposed* to think about the characters having physical or emotional relationships with others besides mc. (How many humans could live for thousands of years and never have even a crush or go out on a date? Get real!) At the same time, Asmo gets turned down every time, sometimes gently, sometimes dismissively, but never aggressively. Everyone knows that he takes no for an answer.

So as a player, or a writer, you can take this and imagine that there’s other stuff we haven’t seen. We hear about succubi and witches and obviously female demons exist, but until 13, who’s so far most assuredly not interested in any of the other characters, It’s a bunch of guys who’ve been together for millennia. Did they experiment? Try things out to ease some tension? Maybe, maybe not. That’s entirely up to your imagination.

What we *do* know is that *if* it happened, they were consenting adults at the time, and even the twins aren’t blood related, because none of them were born the way humans are. So if you want to think about or write about “demoncest,” go ahead. Anyone who responds with moral outrage or calls for a dogpile for others to assault you with their moral outrage should be ignored - or, better yet, blocked. They’re upset about a situation that doesn’t exist, and you don’t need that kind of ignorance in your life.
