Ugh, my BOYS. How do I love them? Let me count the ways:

So, let's start with Boston returning to the scene of the crime their first encounter - not only to the shop itself, but leading Nick back to the very same spot where they first had sex - first connected in the only way Boston knew how, at that point - the way Nick led him back there that first time. Boston's wounded and hurting, and he's tried to explain himself and no one will listen to him, but there's one person who he knows cares about him no matter what he's done, one person who's actually told him so, one single person in Boston's life who's ever opened their arms to the monster in the closet and been a source of unconditional love - and it's someone who he knows will listen and will let him apologize for what he's done, and who then, if precedent is to be believed, will not continue to beat him up about it, and so that's where he goes to ground.

The leveling of power here is fantastic - Boston is introduced to us in the first ep as The Hunter, but he's never been that in his relationship with Nick. Nick has been the hunter, the pursuer, since the minute he tilted that eyebrow at Boston, since the decision to snap his suggestive selfie onto Boston's phone, since he grabbed Boston's wrist like a snare and led him to the back of that shop. He's laid traps for Boston, he's hunted (and stalked) Boston, he almost had Boston, he tells Sand, before he accuses Sand of ruining it. And then - then he lets Boston go.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours.

So here Boston comes, back. Not only back, but onto Nick's home ground, into Nick's family's shop, where Nick has the advantage and comfort of familiarity. Boston is showing himself to be Nick's. But at the same time, he's back in his role as the hunter. He's the one now doing the pursuing. During every bit of their conversation in the shop, Boston is busy gauging Nick's reactions to see if he can and should take another step forward, back toward Nick, if Nick is open to it, if Nick's goodbye was about Boston or about Nick - and whether it was therefore permanent or open to change if the situation changes, if Boston changes, if Boston indicates he wants there to be something between them again.

Boston walks in the door and he sizes up Dan, and he knows that's the guy who was kissing Nick at the bar, and he files away that information. And he comes up to the counter - and we can see Nick is the prey this time, instead of the hunter, because of his very different demeanor from the first time he and Boston stood at this counter, literally taking a step back, acting uneasy and puzzled about what's going on - and Boston asks if that was Nick's boyfriend. And Nick has every opportunity to say yes - Dan literally just told him that he wants to hit on Nick! - to lay down a firm boundary right here, up front. But he says 'No." And so Boston is free to feel out his next step.

So Boston takes the opportunity to get Nick to that back corner where they have history. And then he asks for Nick's advice. "What's your opinion" aka "What do you think would suit me?" aka "What do you think of me?" And when Nick continues to play along, we get this whole coded metaphorical speech that continues to be this exploratory dance of Boston feeling his way forward and Nick constantly saying yes and allowing Boston to take the next step:

I broke a thing, can you help me fix it?

Yes.

The fix will need to be tough, because I don't usually take good care of things I own. (I hurt you, and I know it, and I admit it.) (I'm not good at this, can you help me be better at this?) (Can you continue to bear me when I fuck up, will you continue to accept me and love me even when it hurts?) (I came back to you, I'm yours. Are you still mine?)

And Nick's response is so telling - be more careful next time. Not "be more careful with the next one," but "be more careful NEXT TIME." (Yes, and maybe there can be a next time.) Some things can't be replaced.

I'll take good care of it from now on. (Things will be different.) (I want to change. I want us to change.) (I want to be better, I want us to be better.) (And oh, by the way, I'll SHOW YOU A PICTURE of something irreplaceable.)

And then Boston hands Nick the phone. (Here I am, naked in front of you, in a way I've never been with any of the tons of people I've had sex with.) (I miss you.) (I don't want to be without you.) (Will you come back to me?) He can't even look at Nick to begin with, before his curiosity gets the better of him.

And then Nick tells him to have a seat while Nick does this work. (Can you wait for me if I need time?)

And Boston's reply is that he has all the time in the world to wait for Nick.

Y'all. I can't. I cannot with these two. This is everything I ever wanted. I know I said I would give you ACTUAL MONEY, Jojo. How much do I owe you?

Saw a gifset of Morpheus and had the random thought that he'd make a fantastic children's picture book mouse character— and now I really, really want a fic where he appears in a kid's dream as a Kevin Henkes/Helen Craig/Beatrix Potter -esque mouse as to not scare them or something. I think it's something about Morpheus' usual mousey moue and big wet eyes that make it work in my head lolll Mousepheus!!

I just think it’s so funny that in Cocteau’s version of batb he cast his boyfriend as *both* of beauty’s love interests. The local guy she doesn’t like and the human version of the beast are the same actor. It’s like if the Disney movie had their whole big transformation sequence, and the Beast came out the other end just completely identical to Gaston. Like, how is beauty even supposed to cope with that? She’s just committed to spending her life with a guy who looks like a monster, after spending most of the movie refusing to marry him, and now he suddenly looks like the other guy she didn’t want to marry? This is such a ridiculous situation. 10/10 casting decision. Funniest possible way to resolve things. Love how Cocteau throws this at us and then immediately ends the movie, zero time for beauty to even process. Fantastic.

Geralt is cursed to be a monstrous beast. He lives his days in solitude deep in the forest. It was relaxing, he'd try and convince himself, despite the reality being that it was very lonely and depressing. Jaskier is lost in the woods. Dreadfully lost. When something starts hunting him, he takes off like hell, which only makes whatever's chasing him want to chase him more. A monster leaps out at him, only for another monster, a bigger one, to crash into it and begin guarding Jaskier. The monster that saved him resembles a giant wolf, in a way, along with more unique 'beasty' traits.. When the aggressive creature is scared away, Jaskier thanks the damn monster, before noticing that it's hurt! His very own hero! Geralt is confused that the human he saved isn't afraid of him. He is now delicately cleaning his wound and promising to bring him food and flowers as long as Geralt continues to protect him when in the forest. Geralt doesn't think it's too bad a price to pay for food. Even if it's just small treats, given how much bigger than the man he is. Geralt likes Jaskier. When Jaskier realizes Geralt is too smart to just be some animal, things start getting complicated then.

i think the only time i find angel hot is the episode when he first comes back from hell and he's like, snarling and nonverbal and in vamp face. as soon as he starts acting like a person again im like oh yeah i forgot you're boring.

Speaking of intense emotions.. We see kant bison cracking internally.. And fadel cool cold volcano rage at bison for betraying him despite his good intentions - have fun brother live a little be human let's be human..

I'm looking to see how fadel and style emotionally evolve.. And what's behind the devil may care aspects of style.. Style fear flashing through him when he makes the call to kant.. And fadel dommed by the narrative.. Leashed guard dog vibe, will he chafe under the collar or enjoy it fully?

The hospital scene with style overriding fadel desire for independence because he wanted to play nurse.. gave me a slight call back of Florence nightingale vibe.. When does Style listens to Fadels limits, he has made his walls so porous Style invades them fully for "his own good"

I have this bulletproof trope, y'see. It's Beauty Breaks The Beast. It's even better when Beauty is actually a morally gray little fucker. This is why I fell head over heels for Beecher and Keller, back in the day. This is why VegasPete will forever have my heart. It's also why I attached SO quickly to BostonNick - because I could see the potential for this SO clearly.

Nick looked unflinchingly at the monster in the closet and opened his arms to it. He saw every bit of Boston, and he loved him not in spite of all of it, but because of all of it. He saw value in Boston that no one else had ever bothered to see, something other than Boston's body and the ways it could be used. And as with Vegas, that unflinching, unconditional acceptance - something that Boston has probably never had in a life of trying to fulfill his father's unreasonable expectations and being valued solely for sexual pleasure - is what cracked his defenses.

Because let me tell you, I had a real bad moment at the beginning of Nick's goodbye speech in this week's ep, listening to Mark and watching Neo's face. I sat there with the kind of growing dread I haven't felt since I watched Vegas Theerapanyakul tip a bowl of noodles onto a safehouse bedroom floor, sick at my certainty that Vegas was going to get Pete down on the floor and push his face into that mess again and ruin all the delicate work that had been done. I was certain Boston was going to say something cutting and mean and awful in an attempt to push Nick away. And then the way Neo's FACE and EYES changed when Nick talked about Boston's photography, and then again when Nick said he loved Boston, just the way he is, and I could breathe again. Because like I've said before, if you don't think acceptance, finally, is enough to tear someone open, well.

If Mark and Neo don't have their pick of roles after this, I'm going to riot.
