The phenomenal 1880 Baywood Mansion in Philadelphia, PA is for sale and it's spectacular. 8bds, 5ba, 9,286 sq ft, $2.998m.

Even the foyer is amazing. This is the 1st thing you see as you enter.

Gorgeous stairs in the entrance hall. The newel post has a beautiful lamp, not only on the main level, but on the upper floor, too. Where the floors have been replaced, blends seamlessly in with the original style.

Super elegant sitting room. Love the peach color.

Next to the fit-for-a-queen sitting room, there's a stunning pool room, fit-for-a-king.

Large banquet style dining room with original fireplace. If you're going to redo a Victorian, the only way to go is with Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper. It's pricey, but nothing compares to it. Plus, look at the flooring.

And, this is how to remodel a Victorian kitchen. It's perfection.

Now, this is a home office. The wainscoting and coffered ceiling!

That green ceramic brick fireplace!

What a glorious guest powder room. I guess that's the original sink that they left in the wall. It probably didn't have a hot water faucet.

On the 2nd fl. landing, you can see that there's another fabulous lamp on the newel post.

And, look at this- the bells to summon the staff.

The primary bedroom is huge, and has an ensuite. The thing is, you'd really need to furnish this home with period furniture.

Wow, look at the built-in. What a classy bathroom.

There's also a large family room up here.

This smaller bedroom has the prettiest ensuite.

Gorgeous bedroom, and this is how to redo a bathroom- that fabulous reproduction Victorian shower and toilet. The sink looks original. This home is amazing.

Huge back porch would make the most wonderful conservatory.

Lovely historic grounds right in the city.

I'm sure many other people have recommended this story for the Rewind 2024 event but I'll throw my vote in too for this incredibly well-written, amazing take on how things could've gone if Lotus Pier didn't fall and Wei Ying realized he loved Lan Zhan earlier. It features genius Wei Ying, supportive Lan Qiren, learning-to-be-less-naive Lan Xichen, and lazy but talented Nie Huaisang. The world-building is gorgeous and the storytelling phenomenal. @doctorbunsenhoneydew

Really awesome fic for what if LWJ became sect leader after the Wen attack on Cloud Recesses. There are some really good wangxian moments and I really like how the fic showcases sect administration and how the sect works now with LWJ as the leader. - Anon

Wei Wuxian was excited to finally meet another cultivator, but instead of greeting him or making pretty much any conversation at all, the man attacked Wei Wuxian on sight. - - - - - - There is NO WAR in this fic. This takes place two centuries after the war happened, and it has a sort of post apocalyptic vibe. This is a story of rebuilding and finding safety. It's about found family and forming a new society away from the old one that persecuted them.

My Top 10 📻🍎 'Multi-Chaptered' Fic Recs

1.) Somewhere down the line by kj_crwn

Notes:

So, just like my #1 on my series recs, this fic has Lucifer and Alastor meeting in the living world first before canon takes place while Alastor is still a human, and then reuniting in Hell as the events of canon unfold. Absolutely my fav trope. It helps that the writing is absolutely gorgeous!!! This is such a comfort fic for me, could read it a million times over. It looks like the author considered making it a series but, at the time of making this rec list, it is a standalone fic.

2.) Even As A Shadow, Even As A Dream by @winterveritas

Complete (2/2). Rated E. POV: Lucifer. Genre: AU - Hell. Notable Warnings: None.

Notes:

Really, anything Winter touches is absolute gold, but this fic rocked me to my core. The way this author portrays Lucifer's grief during Alastor's absence, like. I've been reading fic a long, long time. It takes quite a bit to pull tears out of me, but I sobbed while reading this. Don't let that scare you away, this author is allergic to unhappy endings, but the gut punch of emotions, oh my god. Also, for those who love when extensions of the boys come into play, Alastor's shadow and Lucifer's snake have roles as well, and that is a huge headcanon of mine so it was delightful to see it in this. Writing is flawless, prose is gorgeous, dialogue is top-notch. Just agonizingly wonderful, beginning to end.

3.) Bedtime Rituals to Try out Before The Next Angelic War by @miribalis

Complete (8/8). Rated T+. POV: Lucifer. Genre: Canon Divergence/Post-Canon. Notable Warnings: None.

Notes: I, like many others, stumbled across this fic due to this beautiful fanart and god. This fic is SO INCREDIBLE. The dynamics between the boys are everything????? This is a QPR take on them, and it's beautiful? Just gorgeous in every way, from the writing to the characterizations and the non-sexual intimacy exploration. ALLLLL the love for this fic.

4.) Lucid Dreams of New Orleans by @radiaurapple

In-Progress (14/15). Rated T+. POV: Switches. Genre: Post-Canon. Notable Warnings: None.

Notes:

Wow. Just... It's hard to put into words the admiration I have for this author/fic. In such a popular fandom/ship, it can definitely be hard to find a unique take on said popular ship. However, this. THIS. This is one of the most original radioapple fics I've ever had the joy of reading. Beautiful imagery, STUNNING PREMISE, the emotions, the prose, THE RADIOAPPLE BOYS, everything about it is perfect.

5.) The Ruination of Lucifer by @syaunei

Notes:

Not sure there are words in the English language to describe how fantastic this fic is. Everything I wanna say feels lacking. This fic has some of the most beautiful writing I've ever read. And it is such a delicious character study on Alastor, the inner workings of that man's mind is just insane. The way syaunei takes such a complex character apart, strand by strand, is truly phenomenal. I mentioned in my fic preferences disclaimer that I lean more towards top!Lucifer, but lemme tell you, this is top!Alastor DONE RIGHT.

6.) Something in Me Understood by @winterveritas

Complete (8/8). Rated E. POV: Alastor. Genre: AU - Human!Alastor/Devil!Lucifer. Notable Warnings: None.

Notes:

This was written for radioapple week 2024, and Winter spoiled us rotten with the frequency of updates for this one. Bookstore AU but make it sexy? XD I am trying to keep my gushing to a minimal, but really, all of Winter's fics are fantastic. This one also includes some beautiful art. AND AND AND intersex!Lucifer, which again... a weakness for me.

HOLY PLOT! As I mentioned in my previous post, I definitely prefer more romance vs heavy plot in my fanfics, but when a fic can balance them both as experty as this one HO BOY! It makes for truly a good time! 🙏 Fantastic fic!

I know its niche, but I think people assume you need to know about The Great Gatsby to read/enjoy it. YOU DON'T. I'm telling you, I remember ZERO about that book, and this fic has been an absolute delight??? Yandere!Alastor??? Vox's One-Sided Psychosexual Obsession with Alastor??? Possessive Lucifer??? IT HAS IT ALL. And the writing and characterizations are superb!

This is a short one, but I love everything this author writes, and the ending scene of chap 2 has been living in my head rent-free since they posted it. Human!Alastor has fallen in love with the Devil and tries to summon him through his killings. Fantastic premise and writing.

Esme was the sweetest girl you knew. Even before she was your girlfriend, she was the sweetness herself. Always looking after everybody, smiling all day long and just happy in general.

The blonde was known for her friendly nature but but the respect she held for others, whether she knew them or not, regardless of whether the person was good or bad person, was wow. She couldn‘t even hurt a fly - even though they annoyed her.

The two of you had been a couple for more than three years, happier than ever. The sweet girl was head over heels for you and not even ashamed to show it.

And to be fair, never in a million years, Esme would‘ve thought that she could fall deeper and more in love with you than she does everyday.

Early on in your relationship, you discovered some things that the sweet girl would never say out loud no matter who badly she wanted too or how hungry her mind was. She respected you in every kind of way, as her girlfriend, as a person, as a human.

You look hot and sexy? She would never say that. Obscene and vulgar words would never leave her mouth and especially not in relation to you. Instead you looked stunning, gorgeous, breathtaking and so on.

You‘re changing and she walks in? Immediately, she would turn around and leave the room. For her, it didn’t matter if she had seen you naked already - she respected your privacy. Which is also the reason she would always knock on the door before entering the bathroom.

She didn‘t like to call you the pet name, 'baby' or 'babe' she had never called you like that nor will she ever. Instead she prefered, 'lovely girl', anything with girl at the end.

"Thank you" standing on your tip toes, you pressed a sweet kiss to her cheek, the blonde‘s cheeks turning a deep shade of red.

The defender loved the outfit you were wearing, it was your go-to date night outfit. It wasn‘t too casual but also not extravagant - it was perfect. While Esme always thought you were the beauty itself, this outfit let her mind trail in other directions, not that she would ever mention that but you could see it in her eyes and you could feel it when you weren‘t looking - she was looking at you with hungry eyes.

Standing in front of the wardrobe you debated what you‘re going to wear. It was a Saturday morning, Esme already out of bed, probably making some breakfast while just got out of bed.

"I‘m so sorry!" said person yelped as she saw your half naked figure, only in bra and underwear. Instantly, she covered her eyes, turning around and leaving the room. "I‘m sorry, my pretty girl, I thought you were still asleep" she told you through the closed door.

Deciding to tease her, you walked out of the room, still in the same 'outfit'.

"Hi" you grinned, the blonde trying her hardest to look you in the eye, "good morning" she mumbled, gulping as you stepped closer. How dearly she wanted to stare at your body. She could if she wanted too, you didn’t mind at all as you had told her more than once yet the sweet girl she was, she always declined, "there‘s no spicy time now." Sometimes it was as if she was afraid to look, cheeks all red, lip biting to contain herself. It was adorable and amusing for you because you would shamelessly check her out.

"I- um, wanted to wake you up for breakfast. I made your favorite"

Smiling brightly, you responded, "thank you" before pressing a good morning kiss against her lips.

"My girl?" knocking on the bathroom door, the defender waited patiently, "yes?" you called back, continuing to brush your hair. "Can I come in real quick?"

"Sure!" you replied, opening the door, "you can come in at any time"

Smiling at her, the blonde looked down at you, "I know but I prefer to ask" she grabbed the item she needed before leaving the room again but not without pressing a peck to your forehead.

The defender was nervous, you could tell. Both of you sat on the couch, too much respectable amount of space between you. "What‘s wrong?" you asked the usual smiley girl. You knew she would tell you the moment you asked, the girl never one to lie about something or to say 'nothing' when clearly something was wrong.

Her hand went into her hoodie as she pulled something out of it. "I made you this" she admitted shyly, scratching her neck. "Esme!" you squealed, jumping on her, now straddling her, "you made me a spiderman bracelet?"

"Yes?"

"This is beautiful!" and you weren‘t lying. The bracelet seemed simple, just three colours in it. The main colour red as the spiderman eyes were white and outlined in black. But in reality, Esme’s knotted it more than 4 times because it had to be perfect for you. Every imperfection she saw - start over again.

"Can you put it on, please?" you asked, holding out your arm. Gently, she put it on your wrist. You admired it from every side, smiling as you looked at her again.

"I love you"

You and Sehun had been best friends for years. You went to the same school and were thrilled that each of you debuted. Your date passed super quickly in a flirty fun blur and after that, you were hooked. You got home from your date literally bouncing and your members made you sit down and tell them everything. They were all ecstatic and as you and Jihyo continued seeing each other and things just started getting better and better they couldn't be happier. However, Irene was the smartest of all of you and came up with a good question, when were you going to tell her about Sehun?

So far you'd managed to avoid talking about him too much. You'd mentioned him in passing a few times, explaining trips you'd taken together etc but never discussed your unofficial partnership. She wasn't expecting this and you practically see herself mentally calming herself as she nodded "okay tell me". "So you know that rumour about Sehun and me dating?" you asked. Jihyo went pale "yeah?" she asked nervously. "Well it's not true" you said and Jihyo let out a breath of relief "of thank god because I really thought you were going to say you were married to him or something". You laughed "hah no! So Sehun and I aren't together and don't like each other that way but we did create the rumour on purpose". "Wait what?" Jihyo asked "you made everyone think you were dating...what for? Money? Publicity?". "No nothing like that" you said "see the thing is, Sehun is also bisexual and the week before our relationship was "leaked" the press was going to run an article outing Sehun". Jihyo's jaw dropped "what! Without his permission? That's awful". You nodded "I know right! I couldn't let that happen. So that's what's going on with us and I wanted you to be aware of it. Neither of us has confirmed it but we do let SM take photos of us together occasionally and have them leaked to keep the rumour credible and protect us both" you explained "so I guess what I'm asking is, are you okay with dating me and the rest of the world thinking I'm with Sehun? Because I won't tell people I'm dating him but I also won't deny it".

Jihyo was quiet for a few seconds before smiling. "Y/n of course it's okay" she smiled "we can't exactly acknowledge our relationship to the Korean public so it's not like it's stopping us. All you're doing is protecting your friend and I still get to call you my girlfriend? Sounds like a great deal to me".

Jihyo calling you her girlfriend made you feel insanely happy and you grinned "so you would like to make this official? To be my girlfriend?". Jihyo nodded "I would" and you smiled "good because I really want to be yours" and kissed her.

From that moment on you were in a committed loving relationship with Jihyo! You loved calling Jihyo your girlfriend and used every opportunity to say it. Jihyo found it so cute and loved how right this felt. You of course had to be careful and couldn't tell all your friends but Jihyo still felt special with you and the privacy was actually quite nice. She'd told her members and all of your members knew so the Red Velvet members would shoot her smiles and smug looks which made her feel seen. You'd come over to the Twice house and spend time with her with her members so she got to act like a couple with you around some of her friends which was nice.

She'd met a few of your friends and knew you were close to Exo of course. You bumped into them on a date night and Sehun came right over to you taking Jihyo by surprise a little. He nodded to her but his eyes were fixed on you and he wasted no time teasing you. He only stayed for about 5 minutes but Jihyo was still shocked. She had no idea the two of you were this close, for him to think nothing of interrupting your date and pulling a chair up to your table and it began to make her suspicious.

She'd spoken to her members about your agreement and then thought it was innocent and actually a pretty nice thing for you to do, which Jihyo agreed with. It was just, sometimes she'd see a headline of you and Sehun at a restaurant together or Sehun with his head on your shoulder and she'd get jealous. She knew it wasn't real but everyone else didn't know that and had just assumed you were together. It was considered a fact now and it bothered her to hear people talking about you as Sehun's girlfriend.

She once heard Balckpink's Jennie mention your relationship to Nayeon and she commented on how cute you and Sehun were. Nayeon froze looking to Jihyo who was similarly startled and Jennie laughed. "Oh come on we all know they're dating. We don't have to pretend they're not. I don't know why they don't just come out and say it". "Maybe they're genuinely not dating?" Nayeon tried "they could just be friends" but Jennie laughed "please! Two insanely hot people with amazing chemistry who spend tons of time together? They've got to at least tried it right?". Afterwards, Nayeon told Jihyo she had nothing to worry about but Jennie's words did stick in her head and caused some doubts because surely she was right? You must've both considered it before.

Jihyo felt like she could ask you any question so she asked you if you'd ever thought about Sehun in that way. You frowned before nodding "kinda, I did wonder if I could like Sehun like that" you admitted and Jihyo's eyes widened until you finished "for like 5 seconds. I think sometimes when you've known someone for so long it's difficult to change your view of them" you explained. "I hear so many female idols calling Sehun sexy and I get he is conventionally attractive and tall but he'll always just be that skinny teenager who ate so much peanut butter he threw up in my mom's car on the way back from a theme park" you said and Jihyo burst out laughing. She realised she had nothing to worry about...at least from you.

Jihyo believed you utterly, she could tell you were a genuine person and trusted you wouldn't lie to her. Plus you didn't have to tell her this, you could've kept quiet about your agreement with Sehun and she'd have been none the wiser. The fact you'd come forward and wanted her to know everything before she got into a relationship made her trust you even more but she didn't trust Sehun because she didn't even know him! You were both bisexual so there was a possibility he was into you and Jihyo was biased but she couldn't see how anyone could spend lots of time with you and not want to make it more. She figured Sehun might like you but could tell you didn't like him back. Maybe this rumour was working for him more than you thought. As your girlfriend she was officially suspicious of your fake boyfriend and always one to face a problem head-on, she asked to meet him.

You were very happy for your girlfriend to meet Sehun and took them both out for a meal. Sehun was there when the two of you arrived and he stood up to hug you and then awkwardly paused near Jihyo. "Hi" she said and also hugged him. She was determined to investigate him while also pretending everything was fine and she wasn't onto him. Jihyo was smart and knew not to give the game away or make Sehun suspect her at all and he didn't!

They had a nice 3-course meal and Jihyo was joyful and smiley the whole time. She asked Sehun about his interest and made him laugh a few times. Just before dessert arrived you went to the bathroom and that's when Jihyo decided to strike.

"So do you have any plans for the rest of tonight?" Sehun asked and Jihyo leant in "my only plan is to see what your intentions are towards my girlfriend" she glared. "I'm sorry?" Sehun said, confused how the sweet girl had changed so quickly but Jihyo didn't give him time to process. "Don't play dumb with me pretty boy, you try anything untoward with her and you'll have me to deal with!". "I'd never!" Sehun said and Jihyo nodded "you better hope for your sake that's true" she said "because I won't let anyone creep in on my girlfriend". "I promise I'm not interested in Y/n that way" Sehun said and Jihyo nodded "I know that's what you both say and I believe her, but I see the way you look at Y/n. How your eyes are drawn to her and you smile as soon as she walks in a room". "Yeah because she's my best friend!" Sehun cried but Jihyo just raised an eyebrow "sure you can stick with that story because I don't want to hear anything different. Got it? You hurt Y/n and I'll deal with you". "Okay" Sehun said still a little baffled and then Jihyo smiled widely because you'd returned. Sehun looked at you wondering if to say something but Jihyo shot him a look and she stopped because Jihyo was scary! He knew he did not want to cross her so figured he'd just have to prove to her he wasn't a threat.

Meanwhile, Jihyo was more convinced than ever that she'd caught Sehun in the act and told all the girls that. They believed her and asked what she was going to do next. She planned to keep an eye on Sehun and tell you the second she had anything concrete. The trouble was everything Sehun did made her more suspicious but she knew that wouldn't be enough for you...she needed plain hard proof and that was harder than she thought it would be.

Months ago you'd asked Jihyo what she was doing one weekend in May and she told you nothing and you replied "great!" so she assumed you had plans for the two of them. Which you did but you didn't mention they were with Sehun until the week before. "Why is he throwing a party again?" Jihyo asked as you parked in his driveway. "He just feels like he's going through a lot of changes in his life and wanted to celebrate" you said "he'll explain it better" and Jihyo doubted it. How egocentric did you have to be to throw a party because things were changing? Jihyo would never like Sehun but the good thing is, if he felt things were changing he might do something to reveal his feelings for you and Jihyo would be right there to catch him.

You'd come a little early to help set up but there were a few other people there much to Jihyo's relief. If it was just her, you and Sehun she'd have struggled greatly but some NCT and EXO members were there giving her a buffer from her least favourite maknae. She was thinking about how much better a maknae Tzuzu was than Sehun when you appeared beside her "hey! So all the food's sorted and guests will be arriving now" and the doorbell went as you said it. "Nice" Jihyo nodded "how many are coming?". "Not tons mainly Sehun's closest friends and family" you said and Jihyo eyed the door apprehensively as some people who could only be his family appeared. "It must be nice to be able to throw a party this extravagant for no real need" she said and you tensed. Jihyo noticed how your forehead creased and the slight thinning of your lips as you frowned "well it's not for nothing...as I said Sehun will explain it later and then it will make sense". Jihyo shrugged "maybe" and your frown stayed which annoyed her. She didn't see why you were always on Sehun's side and wondered if there was anything you'd ever disagree with your best friend on. Feeling a bit miffed Jihyo announced she was getting a drink and walked away.

She was happy to be alone in the kitchen when who appeared but Sehun and an elderly woman. "Oh Jihyo" Sehun said jumping "hey, I'm glad you could make it". "Y/n made sure I did" she said to remind him she was the one dating you and also to imply she didn't want to come. Sehun nodded "well I'm glad you're here, this is my grandmother". Jihyo bowed to her and did the polite thing and greeted her. "How do you know each other?" Sehun's grandmother asked and Jihyo jumped in before Sehun could "I'm dating his best friend". "Yeah but we're also friends" Sehun said trying to act cheery and Jihyo hesitated "well I wouldn't go that far, more like acquaintances...it was nice to meet you" she said to Sehun's grandmother and walked from the room.

She went into the living room but saw a framed photo of Sehun so did a U-turn and went out the front door. This was her idea of hell and to make it worse Sehun found her. He came right over to her and she was pleased that for once his happy mask was gone. "Hi" he said "look I just wanted to say, I know you don't like me but I hope after today that will change". "Don't bet on it" Jihyo said and Sehun's forehead creased "Jihyo there's no reason for you to be wary of me and I'm getting a little tired of it". "So?" Jihyo asked "I'm sick of you fluttering around my girlfriend and denying what you're doing". "So we're both unhappy" Sehun said "but we don't have to be, Jihyo if you just gave me a chance..." he started but Jihyo shook her head "I don't want to get to know you Sehun. What I've seen is enough and I'm not falling for this nice guy act you put on" she said gesturing to him "so drop it". Sehun sighed and went to speak when a voice cut in.

"Drop what?" you asked only hearing the last part of the conversation. You smiled thinking some fun teasing might be going on but froze as you saw Jihyo's angry face and Sehun looked upset. "What's going on?" you asked looking between them and Jihyo could practically see you holding yourself back from comforting Sehun. Sehun shook his head and blinked his eyes several times "I think you should tell her Jihyo" he said "because I don't need this, not anymore and not on a day like today" and he stormed away.

"Jihyo what's going on?" you asked and Jihyo was so annoyed. Sehun was painting her as the villain and him as the victim. "Jihyo" you said again and she shook her head "there's no point, you've already made up your mind about who's in the wrong here so there's no point in me even trying". "Jihyo I can see you're upset and I don't think anyone's in the wrong. I just want to know what's upset you so please tell me".

Jihyo took a deep breath and looked at you "Y/n he's into you! Can you really not see it?", "Wait you mean into me into me?" you asked and Jihyo laughed in exasperation and cried "yes! I confronted him on it weeks ago and he denied it but it's so clear! That's why he's been so wary of me he knows I'm onto him". "Jihyo he's really not, I know I told you that I'd considered Sehun in that way for a second but I can assure even if he'd debated it he came to the same conclusion". "But he looks so happy around you, you must notice that?" Jihyo asked "none of the photos look fake and you're both bi so it's possible he secretly has feelings about you". You shook your head "Jihyo trust me Sehun is not harbouring feelings for me". "But how can you know?" she asked and you smiled "because he's engaged to NCT's Johnny!". Jihyo froze "wait what?". Jihyo blinked "so he and Johnny...". "That was who the rumours were about all those years ago" you said "they've been together for 4 years now and Sehun proposed 7 months ago. I helped him" you smiled at the memory "they are utterly and truly in love Jihyo so I promise Sehun is not harbouring love for me. There's nobody who can hold a flame to Johnny in his eyes".

Jihyo froze and slowly sunk down until she was sat on the wall in Sehun's front garden. She put her hands to her head and groaned. "Jihyo?" you asked appearing at her side nervously peering at her but she hid her face. "I feel so stupid" she confessed and you went to comfort her. "No don't...it's okay". "But I've been horrible to Sehun this whole time and have been acting so unstable and irrational. I can't believe I was so far off and made such a fool of myself". You went to disagree but she continued. "The truth is I like you a lot okay!" Jihyo said "more than I've ever liked a partner and that's why I saw Sehun as a threat. I know it's no excuse but I'm hyper-vigilant to anything that could take you away from me and I'm making myself sound like a crazy obsessed person right?". "No!" you said "I had no idea you felt like this but you don't sound crazy at all, was there something in particular that upset you?".

"What?" Jihyo asked and you continued "well there must've been something about how Sehun and I acted that made you uncomfortable. What was it?". She shrugged "you didn't do anything Y/n it was me". "I don't believe that" you said sitting next to her "now please just tell me" and then reading her mind you added "I won't think you're silly". Jihyo frowned before explaining how she didn't like how Sehun interrupted your date and was a little intimidated by how far you were willing to go for him. "You both just seem so comfortable acting like a couple that it worries me a little. Your first instinct is always to protect him and put him first so it made me wonder how much room you have for me" she admitted "plus so many people think you're amazing together and it can make me feel like Sehun would be better for you...that you could be happier with him". "That's crazy!" you cried "nobody makes me as happy as you" and Jihyo paused "really?". You nodded "totally! But I realise I might not have done such a good job in showing you that". "No Y/n please don't blame yourself this is all me!" Jihyo said but you shook your head "no don't discount your feelings. I get it you know. I'd feel weird if a guy you were pretending to be dating crashed our date so casually and if the two of you looked so loved up in photos. It's not crazy and it's not fair to you". "But there's nothing you can do so can I be upset with you about it?" Jihyo asked. "Well I think there is something we can do" you said "firstly, I think Sehun and I can stop the charade. It's been a while now plus he's literally getting married so we can ease off it. No more photos plastered all over magazines and I'm going to speak to Sehun about boundaries. "If you ever need me Jihyo just tell me" you said "I'm here for you" and Jihyo nodded "I feel that now" and you stayed wrapped up together until Johnny came to find you as they were making the announcement.

You stood together hand in hand as Johnny said the news and the room erupted into happy cheers. Watching how Sehun looked at Johnny, Jihyo realised she had nothing to worry about all along and joined in. Later in the night she found Sehun and Johnny to tell them herself and Sehun smiled as she told him how happy for them she was. "I'm also so sorry" she said to him "I was horrible and never gave you a chance" but Sehun cut her off before she could finish "hey you were just protecting Y/n right? I can never be mad at someone doing that and I know she's got an amazing girl looking out for her. I'll always be grateful for that" he said and Jihyo smiled "I'll always protect her" and Sehun nodded "excellent! and speak of the devil..." as you appeared.

"Talking about me again? They're just obsessed aren't they Johnny?" and he nodded "it must be so hard to be so adored Y/n" he said smirking at you. You grinned and looked between Sehun and Jihyo "is everything okay now?" and they both nodded. "Perfect" you said "because there's so many couples things I want to four of us to do!" You and Johnny, as the planners of the group, started organising them all as Sehun and Jihyo watched. "Guess we're going to be seeing a lot more of each other" Jihyo said and Sehun shrugged "well only when we want to, Y/n spoke to me and I promise I'd give you guys some space. She was always the person I went to when I felt like I was all alone and habits die hard" he explained "but I have so many people who care about me" he said looking around the room "so it's time someone else gets her love and attention and I'm glad it's you". Jihyo smiled "you know with all this charm and compliments...I think we'll get along well Sehun" and he grinned "I know we will Jihyo" and she believed him.

Jihyo attended the wedding 8 months later and couldn't be happier. She'd spent more time with Sehun thanks to you and Johnny and discovered he was actually a decent human being! They had quite a bit in common and were both strong confident personalities and now the only time they argued was at game nights. You'd stuck to your word and the articles about the two of you disappeared and you now had a healthier relationship. Jihyo felt fully supported by you and no longer felt like she was sharing you or vying for your attention. She couldn't be happier and as you danced at Sehun's wedding she thought she'd tell you.

"It's occurred to me all those months ago at Sehun's engagement party, that I never said it back to you". "Said what?" you asked before blushing as you remembered. The two burst into laughter and you watched them feeling so loved and protected.

You had the best friend in Sehun and the best girlfriend in the world in Jihyo! You weren't going to lose either of them anytime soon and you knew in that moment, you wanted something like this for you and Jihyo, you wanted her to be your wife someday but that was something for the future. Tonight you just wanted to dance with the beautiful girl who loved you and so you danced the night away.

Wangxian Top Ten Fic Recs

So. I got into MDZS/The Untamed back in February, & I've sort of fallen into a Wangxian black hole from which I am not sure I will ever emerge. Thusly, I've been reading a ton of Wangxian fanfiction lately & have acquired quite a few favorites. Naturally I had to eventually compile a rec list lest I combust with all the barely suppressed love I have for this ship.

Now you lucky people get to reap the benefits of all my hard work because not only have I ranked my top ten, I am also including a bunch of honorable mentions because I'm ridiculous & have no self restraint because I'm such a kind & generous person. Note that the honorable mentions are not ranked & are listed in no particular order.

Fair warning, all of these recs are rated Explicit because I enjoy either a sprinkling or a flood of adult content with my fics. It's far from the focus of many of them, but it's there to varying degrees in each. Also, some of these fics cover some heavy content that may be triggering for some folks, so please do mind the tags & any authors' notes for your own peace of mind.

1. Scars Where They Used to Be by CwythanWind (E, 58,467)

Thoughts: I lost count of how many times I cried in this fic. It was gorgeous in every sense of the word. The characterizations were phenomenal. Wei Ying’s pain was palpable, & the pining was agonizing. Lan Zhan conveying his love through poetry made me sob like a baby twice. The prose was just that beautiful. I can’t recommend this enough. As soon as I finished it I knew it was going to become my favorite Wangxian fic, & nothing has managed to top it yet.

2. Beneath Your Skin by Wrenwolf (E, 147,201)

Thoughts: I was sold on tattoo artist Wei Ying from the word go, haha, but Lan Zhan as an antiques dealer was also surprisingly on point. I go on about characterization a lot in these recs, but I have to tell you that Lan Zhan's here is one of my absolute favorites. I felt like I'd crawled into his skin & was just living there right along with him. And don't get me started on Wei Ying in this fic. I just.. fuck, I cried so much, y'all, & it was incredibly cathartic. Nie Huaisang was my favorite side character in this, & they were an absolute BAMF! You can't go wrong with this one. It's just stunning.

3. Pentimento. by orange_crushed (E, 72,966)

Thoughts: This fic was full of sentiment: regrets, longing, & so, so nostalgic. The love of art was apparent & beautifully on display here, & it added a richness to the whole thing. I cried several times during this from the empathy I had for both Lan Zhan's & Wei Ying's experiences (can you sense a theme with my favorites making me overly emotional? lol). The tone got heavy in places, but it didn't feel graphic or overwhelming at any point for me. The writing was just fantastic, & I've enjoyed a few more of the author's fics since I read this one.

4. i'm gonna drown when you wake up by teenjiism (E, 51,752)

Thoughts: I related to this fic on several levels because both characters are portrayed as neurodivergent in ways that felt very authentic, & I rarely see it done as well as it was here. I have ADHD, & Wei Ying's headspace felt extremely familiar, ha. Lan Zhan & Wei Ying's friendship was so lovely here, too. I adored their easy intimacy & how they were each other's favorite person before Wei Ying even realized he was in love with Lan Zhan. Oh yes, this is another fantastic oblivious Wei Ying/One Brain Cell WWX Strikes Again fic. The pining was perfect, & the overall sweetness of their relationship made this a very floaty/happy reading experience for me, personally.

5. Nothing But Trouble by brooklinegirl (E, 60,318)

Thoughts: Continuing with the theme of One Brain Cell WWX Strikes Again, this was a hilarious & heady fake dating scenario fic. His cluelessness reached new heights in this one, & I about died when he came up with the idea that naturally he & Lan Zhan should practice things like kissing for authenticity's sake. (Oh Wei Ying, you sweet summer child... he kills me; can you tell?) I loved how matter-of-fact Lan Zhan was about the whole thing, too. I laughed a lot during this fic. I even blushed a couple of times, too! Highly enjoyable & a must-read for me.

6. you've ruined my life (by not being mine) by cicer (E, 132,713)

Thoughts: None of the parents in this fic are doing a good job, but hey, they didn't in canon either, in my not-so-humble opinion. It's not what I focused on in the fic, but the tags certainly amused me. I haven't come across many texting fics in MDZS, so this was a pleasant & welcome surprise. The whole fic wasn't done through texting, but their text exchanges were SO CUTE. Lan Zhan texted exactly how I thought he would in this, & it made me laugh every time. The pining was lovely, & when they finally got to see each other in person again in New York I was glued to my computer until I finished the fic. I adored the tone of this one. It was great & just a really fun read.

7. and so my heart beats wildly by lily_winterwood (E, 106,435)

Thoughts: This was one of the most original modern AUs I've seen & featured competitive cultivation that had a Hunger Games meets professional figure-skating competition vibe. It was wild, but it made sense when I read it, I promise. The author was very good at fleshing out their world, & I was fascinated by the concept. Wei Ying once again failed to notice Lan Zhan was in love with him, & his confusion over their interactions never failed to entertain me. I never get tired of their dynamic, y'all, & it was just perfect here. I highly recommend this one.

8. Falling to the Rhythm by Selenay (E, 128,916)

Thoughts: Ever seen So You Think You Can Dance or Strictly Come Dancing? This was basically that but Wangxian! Wei Ying was stunning as a professional dancer being handed a socially awkward, concert violinist Lan Zhan & having to teach him to dance in front of the nation for 12 weeks, & I absolutely loved Lhan Zhan in this. He was precious. The sexual tension during some of the dances was electrifying, & watching them fall in love over the course of the filming of the show was a delight to read.

9. Two Dollar Coffee by marizousbooty (E, 145,286)

Thoughts: I almost fell out of my chair laughing because how do you acquire an accidental sugar daddy?! Well, if you read this fic, you'll find out. One Brain Cell WWX Strikes Again! Yeah, it's one of my favorite AO3 tags, so sue me, lol. The sex was obviously one of the highlights, which I am known to enjoy in a fic (don't judge me, Puritans), but it certainly wasn't the only thing that was well written here. I loved everything about this from beginning to end.

10. things that make it warm by yabakuboi (E, 33,327)

Thoughts: This fic hurt my feelings, not gonna lie. I cried ugly tears at the break up, but I've always had a hard time with reconciliation fics. It was very worth it, however. The way the fic covered their relationship growing & changing over time was very compelling, & a highlight of this for me was Wei Ying's relationship with the Wens, particularly A'Yuan. It was very sweet amongst an ocean of angst, haha. I read this in the span of a couple hours. Just couldn't be torn away. If you're a sucker for angst with a happy ending, then you might want to check this one out.

Honorable Mentions

The Simplest Way Forward by harriet_vane (E, 70,972)

Thoughts: This was so heartwarming I couldn't stop smiling over how adorable it was. Kid fics aren't typically a favorite of mine, but I do enjoy a really good one every now & then. This was one of the best I've read, to be honest. A'Yuan was the sweetest little angel, & he was so cute with Wei Ying spazzing out about every aspect of his care. Lan Zhan being the quiet, responsible source of reason & support was expected but of course always a welcome addition to the mix. Accidental Baby Acquisition isn't a tag I'd seen before, but it's a new favorite when it comes to Wangxian getting to be surprise parents together, haha.

undone (the spreadsheet song) series by spookykingdomstarlight (E, 282,452)

Thoughts: This is a two part series that tells the same story from each love interest’s point of view, a la Rivals by Reiya in the YoI fandom, which is one of my favorites of all time. Similarly, this story is also phenomenally written. I was sucked in immediately & read both fics over the span of like 3 days. I actually read Lan Zhan’s POV fic (the second in the series) in a single day. I was spellbound by the whole thing, couldn’t get enough. I highly recommend this. The characterizations are incredible, & the emotions are so intense I couldn’t help but feel everything right along with each of them as the story progressed.

My only word of caution is that if you have a hard time reading about Wangxian being intimate with people other than each other you might want to skim/skip those sections of the second fic like I had to. The author makes it fairly easy by giving a heads up in the author’s notes at the beginning of each chapter in which that occurs, which I very much appreciated.

Many happy returns. by orange_crushed (E, 25,470)

Thoughts: This fic started with a very serendipitous first meeting between businessman Lan Zhan & Wei Ying, who he mistook for the (non-sexual) escort he'd hired for the evening. I nearly died of mortification right along with poor Lan Zhan when he figured out his mistake. Him confessing this to Wei Ying was painfully awkward & hurt my heart, but fear not! We all know I can't handle a fic without an eventual happy ending, haha. Watching their instant connection develop into something more was such a treat. I loved this fic quite a lot for it being a quicker read for me.

Multiphonics by androkastia (E, 63,705)

Thoughts: Wei Ying was such a lovable disaster in this (as he often is, bless him). Him & Lan Zhan both being in the orchestra was a fun idea, & I loved the author's choice of the harp for Lan Zhan's instrument. I thought it was very different from the usual violin or cello choice I've seen previously but still suited him perfectly. I also loved his overall characterization, down to his fashion sense being tastefully eclectic when his style is usually portrayed as very stuffy & conservative. I really enjoyed this college/university AU, & I've read quite a few of them at this point. So obviously this one stood out.

No Compasses, No Signs by brooklinegirl (E, 36,041)

Thoughts: Ah, finally! A soulmate fic. A Temnurus rec list really wouldn't be complete without at least one. This was a modern AU, which made it especially fun when their soul bond inexplicably manifested as they literally collided with each other on the sidewalk. It was painful watching them fumble for answers to why they suddenly knew things about each other they had no way of knowing only moments before, but the sweet conclusion made it more than worth the temporary angst.

A Haunting Love by Selenay (E, 64,621)

Thoughts: This was another very unique modern with magic AU, & I was nervous because Wei Ying was a ghost haunting Lan Zhan's new house in the quiet little town he moved to in order to write his next novel. Naturally Lan Zhan became ensnared by the mystery surrounding Wei Ying's departure. This had a very romantic feel to it, intensely poetic in a way that I found very alluring. There were even thriller-esque moments towards the end of the story, so it had a bit of everything, all of it equally satisfying to read.

love, in fire and blood by cicer (E, 360,042)

Thoughts: This was an example of a cool MDZS-specific trope I hadn't seen before, & in it Wei Ying, the infamous Yiling Patriarch, was a cultivator who had achieved immortality (aka, he's OP as fuck but in a fun way). The great sects enlisted his help to win the Sunshot Campaign, & what did he demand in return? Lan Zhan's hand in marriage, of course! It was a fantastic slow burn in which poor Lan Zhan suffered the mortifying ordeal of falling in love with his own husband. An amazing & complex plot, chock-full of angsty goodness.

a place to hide (can't find one near) by yiqie (E, 76,091)

Thoughts: I'm giving y'all a heads up first thing that this fic pulled no punches when it came to the heavier subject matter covered in the tags & author's note. Some of the descriptions were fairly graphic, so please take care of yourselves when considering this one. That said, it was a powerful portrayal of someone suffering from mental health issues & the long & often complicated journey of healing. This one also happened to contain a love story so beautiful that I was brought to tears several times by Lan Zhan's patient & loving care for his most important person, nevermind all the times I cried at the sad parts! I found the emotional cost of those very much worth the payoff of their happy ending, which is why I just had to include this one.

Just You, Just Me (Just Us, Just We) by wincechesters (E, 19,777)

Thoughts: Lan Zhan thought his brother made him an appointment at an acupuncturist & was aghast when he discovered it was for a session with a professional cuddler instead! Enter Wei Ying, gratuitous cuddle therapy, & his usual chaotic charm. Poor Lan Zhan being so overwhelmed while also becoming hopelessly besotted made me laugh, bless his fragile little heart. This was an adorable & light-hearted fic that made me want to go back & reread it almost immediately, haha.

my age has never made me wise by idrilka (E, 63,439)

Thoughts: I absolutely loved this. It was pretty CQL (The Untamed) compliant & told the post-canon story of Wei Ying wandering alone as a rogue cultivator after the events of the show. Of course he was pining after his zhiji the entire time, so when he heard gossip that the Chief Cultivator might be married by summer's end it nearly undid him. The angst was excruciating, but at the same time, One Brain Cell WWX Strikes Again fics somehow always manage to be fun at the same time. I've read several post-canon, wandering Wei Ying stories, & this one was particularly good.

Ok, so a little while I reblogged the work of the phenomenally talented @dashka12, who had created the most stunning binding of Icarus, Burning. It is seriously gorgeous, and if you haven't seen @dashka12's original post, go and shout some well deserved praise on it now, because oh my word is the binding fantastic.

Afterwards, Dashka got in touch and very kindly offered to send me a copy as well. The binding arrived yesterday evening (and no, I am not going to be normal about this now, so you're warned).

OH. MY. GOSH.

So, firstly I had a meltdown and a little cry when I opened the parcel (it really is stunning - I'm not exaggerating, it's stunning).

The richness of the cover, the gold leaf and the wonderful, dreamlike galactic interior. I said it to @dashka12 - it feels so very Samiel to me somehow. Dashka's combined that sci-fi feel with something that is far more mythological, and created utter beauty. (And I forgot to take a picture of the mask on the back cover, but IT'S PERFECT.)

But then:

I realised that not only was there a copy of IB, there was also another wrapped parcel that had been sent as well. I initially assumed perhaps IB had been split into two volumes, but... no. I'll give you a clue what the other parcel was:

YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING, RIGHT?!

Look at it. Look. It's sheer and total and wondrous perfection.

There is something so very, very Hess about this binding, and @dashka12 has captured it beautifully. That heavenly, stunning angelic exterior; the demonic interior leaf pages. The beautiful gilded pages and the biblical feel of the whole binding - I just. I can't. I don't have words to describe it, or do it proper justice, because I'm actually speechless with how much I love it. All I can say is it's been twenty-four hours, and I still can't stop looking at it (or IB, either).

Look, I'm going to be completely honest: when I saw what @dashka12 had created I really did cry. For someone to create such beautiful work - such art - from something I wrote, means so much to me. To be able to hold books - actual books - that sprang from my fics honestly just blew me away. For the first time, something I'd written felt oddly real, in a way I can't really explain (possibly my olde schoole brain still equates physical books with being a Genuine Author somehow).

So thank you, @dashka12. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your creativity and your talent are phenomenal; your kindness even more so. You've given me something priceless with these, and I can never thank you enough.

(And yes, both books are now sitting in pride of place on my bookshelf - right next to my 18th C. copy of the Iliad. Take that, Homer - you only wish you looked this good.)

I've got to start with Annachie, not lease because of the PHENOMENAL familiar match!

I LOVE blues and browns, and this is such a perfect example of it! Stunning, stunning dragon, and the genes make the match perfect. I wouldn't have expected to like the shadow tert here, but it really works!

Next is Brenebon!

This is fantastic apparel!!! It gives such a great sense of personality, absolutely gorgeous colors, and a great match for the dragon itself, it really makes the tert feel more integrated with the rest of the dragon. What a gorgeous spiral!!!

For a very different aesthetic, Auxin!

WHOA. Perfect accent!!! Gorgeous dragon!!!!!! I absolutely adore everything about her.

Vim is another stunner! Beautiful use of the apparel, and I love the light/dark contrast a ton. Gorgeous work!
