घर से निकलते ही सूर्य की किरणें

पूछती हैं सबसे पहले,जिसका पता

उसकी आँखे समुद्र का गहरा नीला पानी है,

जिसमें तैरती असंख्य रंगीन मछलियाँ

गूथतीं है मोतियों की माला

उसकी आँखे कभी ना खाली होने वाली नदी

का मीठा पानी हैं,जिसकी कोरों पर आकर

ठहरे हर दुख ने बुझाई है अपनी प्यास...

उसकी आँखो के पास कई इंद्रधनुषी रंग हैं,

जो ठहर जाएँ जिस किसी भी दृश्य पर

वो दृश्य फिर देर तक रहता है हरा!

Translation:

I go round and round the roads of Delhi with a playful gait as if with the intention/hope of finding back some lost home. I feel that at some point I used to live here. All things of past, is tangled just like the power cables above the narrow roads of Old Delhi. Which cable lights up which home, it is impossible to answer that. In this season, I see the flowers of palash scattered on the ground, I feel like stopping here…not near the flowers, but to sit somewhere far from its tree and hear the sound of falling of each and every flower on the ground. Its only these palash flowers that make a sound when they break and fall. Every flower has its own sound, just as every ruin in Delhi has its own silence.
