The “What if Dooku Trains Obi-Wan instead of Qui-Gon AU” is genuinely precious to me and I think they would thrive. 

Still, can you imagine how much initial adjustment it take be for Obi-Wan “Qui-Gon Isn’t Following The Rules and It’s Giving Me a Stomach Ache” Kenobi to be trained by the guy Qui-Gon learned that from? 

A typical Master Dooku mission canon example from Dooku: Jedi Lost

Dooku: the mission is called Space Nascar and we have to do a shot everytime someone pisses me off Dooku: see the Council assigns me these sorts of elbow-rubbing rich people event missions because of my “good” “stable” personality Dooku: for example I’ve almost gotten in two separate fights and we’ve been here five minutes Dooku: Now let’s go steal a speeder, I just Force-threw a cop

Qui-Gon is rattled by this. QUI-GON JINN. 

On the other hand, Obi-Wan’s existing partnerships prove he’s able to thrive under chaos. Dooku, for all his faults, seems to have the singular ability as a Master to produce incredibly self-confident students. He’s repeatedly established as someone who genuinely loves teaching and is a natural at it, who is at their best when part of a Master Padawan partnership - which seemed to be a struggle for Qui-Gon. Ultimately he and Obi-Wan built a loving, successful partnership, but in every timeline it seems to have been initially rocky and took years to flourish. The difference in Obi-Wan having a Master who is tremendously engaged and invested in him from the get-go, but also deeply chaotic? 

Makashi Chaos Monster Obi-Wan. Oh no, he’s a duelist just like his dad and bitchier than ever! The part of him that is inclined to say things like “Sith Lords are our Specialty” is given room to grow and thrive. His monologues increase tenfold and he has a lightsaber form where they’re built right in. The quips! The amount of leaving a conversation that’s going badly by jumping out a window (pulling a Dooku)!

genuinely just OBSESSED with this hc that apple is a complete and utter MESS when it comes to her relationship with darling.

like it's such a funny contrast for the people who know her because this is Apple White; she is calm and polite and put together, and in all the years she dated daring, she was so fucking chill about everything.

daring dating other girls? didn't give a shit. everyone's wondering why they aren't affectionate in public? well, they're just teenagers they have forever after yk. when will they go steady? they have the rest of their destinies to worry about that.

you get my drift; apple does not give a single shit when it comes to this relationship because she is so in control of it. the actual 'relationship' aspect isn't really important to her and as such she's so composed in terms of her relationship with daring.

but throw DARLING in the picture and then there's apple running around like a headless chicken, being absolutely CLUELESS about what to do now that she actually has feelings for someone.

i'd like to have an entire episode of darling and apple going out on a date where there's basically a reverse situation of the dexven date ep where raven keeps trying to hype apple up and keep her calm while thinking 'dear god was i really like this???'

meanwhile, apple's hyperventilating over here just thinking about what to wear, what jewelry will match with her dress, if she's overdoing it or not, whether she should get darling a gift or something, what if she's overdressed or underdressed, and will darling like the food where they're going, and if darling even likes her at all the way she likes darling-

in the end raven grabs dexter and she says fuck this shit you and i are going undercover and tailing them, im too worried for this lesbian disaster.

dexter agrees because he's just come from helping rosabella hide all of darling's armor and assorted weaponry and they had both enlisted the help of the wonderlandians to make sure darling didn't have a breakdown every 3 seconds every time she realized she was actually going on a date with apple.

shenanigans are ensuing and rosabella and raven are getting the worst of it by this point, but they love apple and darling too much so they put up with it.

So this is the perfect continuation for that meltdown of the Big Reveal. Only, here Steve has already collected himself from the ground and has decided to fight for what he loves.

Steve is seeing them as married. Not only, he's ready to fight to keep their marriage alive and thriving, just like Danny didn't want to do with Rachel. Sure, the responsibility was first and foremost Danny's because he'd been the first to refer to their relationship as a marriage (was it really a joke? Or was Danny too much aware of how a marriage, a long course marriage, worked, and he had simply recognized the signs in what Steve and him had?). But Steve has jumped headfirst into this definition and has worked day after day to behave exactly like the good spouse his Danno deserves. And if this means fighting for the one he loves, until he too understands how beautiful of a thing they've built, and how precious, and that he cannot throw it all away....he'll do it.

Of course, here it's Steve being over the top and overdramatic, because Danny's seemingly rude and uncaring words, "It’s my retirement. Why would I include you in something like that? It’s got nothing to do with you.", are not wrong. Danny didn't almost die to make sure Steve could get a chance to survive, he didn't put half of his liver, a living part of himself, undergoing severe surgery in less than optimal physical conditions, just to push him away the moment they didn't work together anymore. Danny's job is a mission to him. Steve's job is all he knows, all his life, all his meaning. Of course Danny didn't talk about his retirement plan with Steve: he hadn’t yet decided, it was a fantasy, the future in their line of work was unpredictable, it was simply one of many 'contingency plans' like those Steve had told him about. Of course he couldn't think about being still jumping off roofs to chase suspects in a five miles run at... what? Fifty? Sixty? But Steve? Surely Steve couldn't envision a world without his job, his mission, his purpose. Having this job is probably the only constant Steve's had in his whole life. Together with Danny. A job without Danny becomes suddenly meaningless, exactly like a marriage without a spouse. Of course he's not seeing the bigger picture, here; he's not seeing that Danny isn't leaving him, specifically, but just the job, generally. The two things are equivalent and the same, in Steve's mind, and he fears he won't see Danny anymore...as if the job were the only context Danny could meet him, the only chance he got to stay with Steve, the only reason why Danny is staying with him.

He fears that once without the job keeping them together, they'll drift apart.

So this is Steve finally giving voice to his frustration, anger, hurt, want, need, desire, finally asking something for himself, finally yelling to make sure everyone (Danny) knows about how he feels about everything, about his love, his abandonment, his betrayal. Finally putting his only need on the front line.

And Danny? Danny shows very well, and reassuringly, even, that he feels exactly the same: he has one failed marriage behind him, and one working marriage with Steve, now. And he surely should've or could've talked with his spouse about his retirement plan, but it was probably simply an embryo of a thought, and we know that everything Danny cares for, sooner or later goes south? So here it was simply a problem of Danny’s anxiety about a nebulous future, and very few practical ideas, keeping him from sharing this all with Steve.

Especially because you don't give a part of yourself to your best friend, job partner, kids co-parent, soulmate, and then fuck off and never see him anymore. Unfortunately, Steve cannot see or hear anything of this. All he see and hears is his spouse — who doesn't even deny being a spouse, or acting like one, and doesn't correct him on the definition of their interaction as a relationship (not partnership, not friendship, not anything else) — telling him he's thought of breaking their marriage without even telling him.

Of course he'll fight tooth and nail to get his husband back. It's all that he's got, and he won't let Danny go (no need to point out that he wanted to propose to Catherine because "it was the proper time to do it" and the moment she said "Bye, gotta go for nowhere, don't wait for me, I know I told you also the last time not to, but it's better repeating, because I won't come back", he went "Oh, ok, I guess that's it, luv ya, have a nice trip"), and he'll make sure to be part of whatever path Danny will take, because where Danny goes, Steve goes, and where Danny stays, Steve stays.

He cannot imagine a world without Danny. The problem is, he hasn't realized Danny feels just the same about him.

Also. I'm writing it here on bottom so if you don't like it you can stop and ignore it. I'm asking forgiveness in advance for what I'm about to write, but since the image and the thought have dawned on me while reading the tags, I couldn't literally stop it.

There's another reason, probably an unconscious one, why Steve totally see himself as Danny’s spouse, and in an even stronger way after the liver transplant, to the point that he reinforces this impression in people around them any time he can.

Steve literally has a part of Danny inside himself. He has something which was once part of Danny’s body, now living and growing and thriving inside of him. How many times he may have touched his abdomen, over the scar, stroking it, feeling it, spreading his palm over his stomach, trying to sense it? He has a part of Danny living and growing back inside of him.

I don’t have to spell it aloud, what parallel this situation draws, right?

So, totally a spouse, in his own way.
