I chose this picture because it reminds me that even in the midst of chaos, in the roaring sea, God is still in control. It reminds me of who God is. He is peace even in the middle of my storm. He stills me.

Narnia, silence

Flame-light cast warmth over the stone lines of the face opposite his, the eyes that followed his every move—the pacing, the hand gripping sword hilt, the shaking head—until he slowed, until he settled, until he sat quiet on stone steps, hands fallen in his lap, gaze lifted up, above himself, beyond himself, to lose himself, to find himself peirced, held, seen.

Here’s the thing with the high road: no one needs to know you are taking it.

You don’t need to announce or parade down the high road for all to see. God sees that you’re taking it. And that’s all that matters. Not everyone can take the high road however. Not everyone has the humility to take it. Not everyone can lay down their selfish desires and insatiable need to be right.

Not everyone can…But you can. Simply choose the high road.
