The Demeter cabin’s annual snowman contest was supposed to be a lighthearted event, but you’d underestimated how seriously Clarisse would take it.

“You’re spending way too much time on that,” Clarisse grumbled, arms crossed, as she watched you carefully pack snow onto the base of your snowman. Her own creation a towering, haphazard stack of snow with what looked like a stick for an arm and a shield for a face... Well it was dark but surprisingly good for her.

“I’m just trying to make it look nice,” you replied, flashing her a grin. “You know, a real snowman, not a…whatever that is.” You gestured vaguely toward her creation.

“It’s a warrior,” Clarisse snapped, narrowing her eyes at you. “Snowmen don’t have to be pretty. They’re supposed to be tough.”

“Tough, huh?” You turned back to your snowman, adding a perfectly shaped snowball for the head. “Well, mine’s going to have character.”

Clarisse huffed but didn’t leave. Instead, she lingered behind you, muttering under her breath as you worked. “Character,” she mocked. “What does that even mean?”

You ignored her, too focused on your creation. After a while, you stepped back, brushing snow off your gloves. “Ta-da! What do you think?”

Your snowman was very round, symmetrical, and smiling with a row of carefully placed rocks for teeth with a pink hat. You’d even used a carrot for the nose and twigs for arms, giving it the perfect “classic snowman” vibe. It was simple, sure, but it had personality.

Clarisse, however, didn’t look impressed. In fact, her expression was closer to annoyed. “Seriously? That’s what you made?”

“What’s wrong with it?” you asked, frowning.

“It’s all…cutesy and perfect,” she said, waving a hand at it like it offended her. “It’s not even cool! Or intimidating! It’s just ugh!”

You tilted your head, realizing what was happening. “Are you jealous of my snowman?”

Her ears turned red immediately. “What? No! Why would I be jealous of a stupid pile of snow?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” you said, grinning now. “Maybe because mine’s better than yours?”

“It’s not better,” she shot back, scowling. “It’s just…different. And boring.”

“Uh-huh.” You crossed your arms, stepping closer to her. “Admit it you’re mad because my snowman has more personality than yours.”

She opened her mouth to argue but snapped it shut, looking away instead. “Whatever,” she muttered. “I don’t care.”

You laughed, nudging her shoulder. “Hey, come on. It’s just a snowman contest. Besides…” You hesitated, softening your tone. “Yours is cool, too. Very…Clarisse.”

She glanced at you out of the corner of her eye, her scowl easing just a bit. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.” You smiled, leaning closer. “And for the record, I don’t think mine’s better than yours. They’re just different. Like you said.”

She snorted. “You’re such a suck-up.”

“Maybe,” you admitted. “But it worked, didn’t it?”

Clarisse rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. Instead, she grabbed a handful of snow and smushed it onto your snowman’s face, wiping away its carefully made smile.

“There,” she said, smirking. “Now it’s less annoying.”

You gasped in mock outrage. “Clarisse!”

“What?” she said, completely unapologetic. “You said it’s not a competition, right?”

You stared at her for a moment before grinning. “Oh, it’s on.”

The rest of the contest dissolved into a snowball fight, the two of you laughing as you tore each other’s snowmen to pieces. By the end of it, neither of you cared who won, and you had a feeling Clarisse had planned it that way all along.

who the fUCK is that in the new LIS trailer bc thats not the max i know 😭 why does she look so different help

maybe its bc arcadia bay was known for its warm hues and this just feels completely different but even the art style was changed to look more generic :((

The main reason: they made Double Exposure Max more conventionally attractive. Ironically, while Max's redesign in Double Exposure tries to make her face more unique, it winds up making her more generically pretty.

LiS1 Max was deliberately designed to look like a young, plain and mousy teenage girl. She dressed simply and safely so as to not stand out. It conveyed her shyness, awkwardness, and indecisive nature and was an example of Dontnod's eye for character design.

This Max is... I dunno. Her design doesn't say anything. I'm not even that bothered that her hairstyle changed, but it's literally Steph's hairstyle on Max's head and doesn't communicate much about Max's personality as an adult. Same goes for her clothing-- as a teen, her graphic tees and plain gray hoodie immediately depicted her as a shy, youthful wallflower in an eclectic private art school. In Double Exposure, her wardrobe is indistinguishable from any other young working professional her age: a yellow beanie, a green peacoat, blue jeans, red and blue cardigans with feminine necklines.

As for the rest of her appearance, somehow her face shape has completely changed to become more slender, especially her jawline.

LiS1 Max, with her square jaw, distinct from her chin, and dark circles.

DE Max, who suddenly has filled out cheeks, with a softer jaw that blends into her chin.

In LiS1, Max had asymmetrical lips, with the bottom lip fuller than the top lip. In Double Exposure, her lips are fuller, rounder, and perfectly symmetrical. Her nose is also more symmetrical: wider, rounder, softer, and less pointed (especially between her nostrils) than her nose in LiS1. All of this serves to soften and feminize her appearance.

While freckles can fade naturally with age, in Double Exposure, Max's freckles are barely visible in most shots. She has flawless skin with an even more realistic skin texture than the models in True Colors (which looks uncanny to me, in my opinion).

But the main thing is her eye color. In LiS1, Max had medium blue eyes that did not particularly stand out against her skintone and hair color. During the warmly lit scenes like golden hour, her eyes are desaturated even further.

But in Double Exposure, Max's eyes are suddenly ice blue, unnaturally bright and piercing. Even in dark scenes, her eyes have a sparkle to them. Unfortunately, her eye design seems to be carried over from the "anime-fied" eyes in the remaster, which were larger, shinier, and brighter than the original game. The difference is truly astounding:

LiS1 Max's eyes, which had the same texture as the rest of her model. Her irises appear dark blue with little depth.

I know that D9 wants to show off a new "grown up Max" who has grown into her confidence and femininity with a more cleaned-up appearance. But Max was already done with puberty in the first game, so she wouldn't suddenly be sporting a softer jawline and filled out cheeks at 28 years old. This was a huge missed opportunity to instead depict the effects of accelerated aging due to stress and trauma on Max's face: sunken cheeks, dark circles, acne, skin discoloration, and forehead wrinkles. Instead, Max Caulfield got the Hollywood beauty treatment.

james - either pakistani or half pakistani, half english, dark skinned, 6'0-6'1-ish, dark brown/black curly hair (falls straighter as he grows older). thin face, noticeable jaw, stubble, straight nose, arched eyebrows. acne scars !!!!!! thick lashes i think would be one of his defining points, like full lips and his deep voice gg. he's so hot, god.

sirius - very pale, very tall. 6'4, english, black curly hair. it grows out through his hogwarts years and by the time he's sixteen it reaches his mid-back when straight (wet), but that's when he runs away and buzzes it. he's bottle blonde for a while my king 😌🩷. i think there's so much that's eye catching about him - very eerily light grey eyes, glass skin, cupids bow, defined collarbones, his height, piercings, posture, accent, aristocratic superiority. he has a lithe figure, i don't imagine him to be as muscle-y as james, but he's fit and has good core strength. long finger nails, he got into habit of painting them as a teenager but always chipped them doing garage work. soft skin except of his hands because, again, garage work. i love him smm ack. oh also he has one dimple on his left cheek, it's the only thing that isn't symmetrical and it pisses him awf.

remus - yellowish skin, brunette, 5'9-ish, big eyes and thin lips. acne acne acne, big hands and feet, big, crooked nose, crooked teeth, thin brows, loose skin, stretch marks. his most recognizable feature is, of course, his scars - on his face, neck, chest. i like to occasionally imagine him as half blind because umm yes, but not always (it's hard to write). he also has a limp but it's okay bc he has hips for daysss !!

peter - so hot. strong features, button nose, heart shaped lips, acne, blonde. 5'4-ish, blonde curls, thin blue eyes, physically strong, light tan, frown lines. stocky, he's built well w a layer of fat over it. usually clean shaven but he tried (and failed) to rock a mustache. his most recognizable is the fact that he has prehistoric face i fear, and after living as a rat for so long it's how his face is disfigured bc... well, he lived as a rat for so long.

lily - 5'6, dark red hair, freckles, green eyes. face card is lethal, body is so tea. she had a well maintained hourglass, which turned less soft and more muscle-y, and then after having harry she never really lost the weight (it wasn't a priority, anyway) because she #died. pimples, long nails, her most recognizable feature is her eyes, of course. she also loves lip glosses so she's always wearing that !! her hair is slightly wavy and she loves having it blowdried, it was long in her childhood and she cut it to her ears in third year, and only started growing it out after hogwarts.

dorcas who's always managed to stay under the radar, worked hard on it once she got placed into slytherin as a halfblood. she managed to stay away from the crowds & attention, able to walk into a room quietly without turning any heads.

& sirius notices, hes always enjoyed people watching, analysing his peers. and he wishes he had that ability. the ability to move unnoticed, to walk along the corridor without being flirted with or sucked up to or shouted at.

and dorcas has that somehow. and he's so curious how bcs her face is quite symmetrical, she walks with this slight casual elegance; her fashion sense is a little strange but it still looks good on her; she's on a quidditch team; she's very fit- slim but with the hint of muscles if she flexed; she's fairly nice, only mean to the bigoted slytherins she clearly tries to avoid altercations with or to mckinnon, who she for some inane reason views as her rival, despite mckinnon being a beater whilst meadowes was a chaser.

and she's practically bursting in magical ability. that was the thing that made sirius begin to notice her at first. in class she was so clearly naturally powerful, her magic dancing inside of her in bounties. she had even managed to best evans in a duelling class a few weeks back.

sirius glanced at her as usual when she walked into the great hall for dinner. and not used to people noticing her. she stopped her stride and turned to sirius' gaze with a questioning brow.

sirius didn't dare glance away. instead he cocked his head to the side slightly and smirked.

dorcas folded her arms and smiled stubbornly back before making her way to the slytherin table.

Ena, HooH, and Xipe: Overseers of Balance

****Honkai star rail/Penacony including 2.1 spoilers ahead****

With 2.2 livestream today [I didn’t watch the livestream on the day it came out so this was written without knowing what was coming out soon but also….THE NEW BOSS????], I wanted to take a closer look at 3 Aeons in particular for this thread bc of the similarities between their concepts & also to look at possible roles/connections in the story of Penacony in particular

Since I normally analyze pairs of Aeons & this time we have 3, I’ll briefly introduce the 3 then I’ll talk about them in detail while trying to connect them to each other & the story

First is Ena, the Aeon of Order; they were absorbed by Xipe during the Swarm Disaster; they had a faction that followed them called the Beyond the Sky Choir which eventually stopped when they were absorbed

The second is HooH, the Aeon of Equilibrium; currently they are alive, their faction is the Arbitrators

The third is Xipe, the Aeon of Harmony; they are currently alive & their faction is the Family in Penacony

From Ena’s entry, we see they have a human-looking face or mask with an inner body that seems to encompass space & stars, giving off mostly blue & purple colors while their face, limbs, accessories, and veil have a white & gold palette; their arms have strings coming out from them which presents them like a puppet; another feature to note is the eye that appears besides them which has a gold outline and a blue and purple iris

Their symbol is represented by the icon of an eye, referring to the open eye that is present behind them in their art, with abstract shapes behind it; at first glance the symbol might not mean much when we look at it & it might look simple bc it’s just an eye but I feel that there may be more to it

The 3 circles & 3 sharp points are arranged in a way that doesn’t look randomized where if we were to divide it in half vertically, it would be balanced

Why does this matter? Mainly bc Ena is the Aeon of Order but what exactly does that concept mean? Order can be defined in a few different ways depending on context but in this case, Ena’s concept is related to the idea that things are arranged or done in a particular way, method, sequence, etc. of which we see an example in the dev log as explained by Herta

She states that she doesn’t like Ena’s personality as a “control freak” but rather their concept or at least how the universe followed the Order

In the case of planets & civilizations, under the Order they would first prosper for a time before coming to an end; this would be the cycle that was followed consistently as it is natural for civilizations to rise and fall

Going back to the abstract shapes, I want to bring up the Rule of Three, which applies to many situations but the general rule involves three things that make something effective, satisfying, ideal, etc. As we saw, the icon had three circles & three pointed ends but they were arranged specifically to make the whole symbol not very chaotic, thus it can be satisfying to look at

Interestingly we see 3 being involved in their faction, the Beyond the Sky Choir: the dev log which mentioned a “three-dimensional framework” & the curio called the Triangular Drum-roll Device

HooH the Equilibrium has a face w/ a body consisting mostly of geometric shapes, giving them a sort of blocky appearance; their body swirls & twists in a round circle which converges towards the center where we see two orbs(?) that are blue & orange while their two hands are clasped together in the center

When we look at their overall design, we can tell that they exhibit some form of balance; their name is exactly symmetrical since it can be split into Ho & oH; when it comes to their physical design, they have what we could consider, for simplicity’s sake, both “positive” & “negative”

Let’s pretend that positive is represented by the white tiles & negative is represented by black tiles, you can reverse the situation & it’ll still apply: the positive & negative tiles balance each other bc there is enough of both positive & negative that they would cancel each other out, creating a sense of balance

The symbol of HooH is well represented by a balance scale, often used for measuring & comparing the weights of objects to see if one is lighter, heavier, or equal in weight to another

Equilibrium as a concept refers to the idea that two opposing things cancel/balance each other out, creating something called “sum zero”; the implication of equilibrium is that things in life are divided by two as opposed to any other number

Herta talks about HooH in a dev log regarding how long they’ve been around compared to other aeons while also pointing out how they focus on duality

Now we have Xipe the Harmony who has a human-like body w/ 3 faces on a single head, long hair, purple skin, a dress that encompasses space, a ring of rainbow colors behind their head, and puzzle pieces floating around their form

Their symbol is quite abstract when we look at it as a whole

It is similar to Ena’s symbol where we had those abstract shapes in the background which came out to be 3 circles & 3 sharp points; here is a similar situation where the shapes are repeated 3 times in a circular fashion (it reminds me of the mitsudomoe, it’s the symbol that has 3 tomoe going around the central point of focus)

As of this point I’m not sure if the shapes themselves actually refer to/mean something specific to Xipe but I think something to point out is that the “commas” act differently based on whether they’re in the forefront or the background

The ones in the front don’t seem to interfere with any of the outer shapes on the same layer as them; however when we look at the background, the commas seem to cross into the other shapes next to them

Now what exactly is Harmony? The concept itself is when everything comes together in a single thing to create something unique or something that is typically good; for example we use harmony in music to refer to when notes or instruments are played together to create a coherent/cohesive song but we can also use harmony to refer to other things like life; in other words, harmony is a synonym for unity

Next we’re going to look at connections to each other & to the story; these 3 Aeons have varying degrees of involvement in the story as well as with each other; HooH seems to have very little connection to the other two so there isn’t rlly much I can say about them for the time being aside from their supposed involvement in the Swarm Disaster & the end of Tayzzyronth which we find in the simulated universe

However Ena & Xipe are much more connected both to each other & to the story when compared to HooH

Ena & Xipe are quite similar which makes sense considering that their concepts were fairly similar which ended up with the former getting absorbed (to clarify on their concepts, Order is the specific way to arrange or place things while Harmony focuses on fusing or combining things to bring about peace or good)

In terms of design, I would argue that they share similar color palettes, mainly cool colors (purple, blue) w/ a side of warmer colors on other features (Ena’s accessories & veil, Xipe’s halo)

Another similarity that I can see is their connection to music

Both Aeons received praise through songs through their respective factions, Beyond the Sky Choir & the Family; now that I think about it, perhaps the “commas” in Xipe’s symbol are actually supposed to be music notes in the world of HSR? I wouldn’t be surprised if they write music notes differently from what we would expect

Now in terms of their connections to the story I’ve heard theories of Ena being possibly connected to Gaiathra Triclops, the Mother Goddess that is mentioned in the most recent Trailblaze quest (****the next part about Gaiathra Triclops is mostly just me entertaining some ideas & pointing things out that I want to note, take w/ a grain of salt); I don’t think they are the same bc there are a few discrepancies that can be pointed out but maybe Gaiathra Triclops is an aspect of Ena that physically manifested

It is explained that Avgins do not follow the Aeon belief system but we also don’t know the exact origins of the Mother Goddess so what if she came from an Aeon? Aeons are the origin of concepts so it doesn’t seem far fetched to suggest that “minor”/sub-gods(?) could possibly come from them

We know that even if an Aeon dies, sometimes they leave behind remnants of themselves that still exist in the current time (e.g. Tayzzyronth & Swarm Disaster) so I don’t think it’s impossible for a similar situation here

We hear that Gaiathra Triclops is depicted as a left palm w/ 3 eyes & Ena does have 3 eyes in total if we count the one in the background; interestingly she is described specifically to be often depicted as a LEFT palm so are there any other manifestations of Ena possibly depicted as a right palm or just another body part in general?

Speaking of eyes, many have pointed out that the eye in the background has a striking resemblance to Aventurine’s eyes

The irises & pupils don’t look the exact same but it feels more of a design choice bc Aventurine’s eye shapes help to establish a sense of mystery/suspicion when it comes to his character; other than that the purple/neon pink outer ring & inner blue ring do match

If the Mother Goddess inherited the same eye from Ena, it could possibly explain how the Aventurine got the same eye despite Ena having been gone before the Sigonian incidents; I know the timeline of events are a bit cloudy so it’s not all clear but it just seems way more than a coincidence to me that Aventurine has the same eye colors as the one that appears besides Ena but I’ll leave my musings there

Now Xipe is the one who has a much more prominent presence in Penacony’s story compared to the other two Aeons

Even before entering the world we are made aware of Xipe’s ties to Penacony & its history; Penacony used to be a desert planet that acted as a prison which was owned by the IPC; the IPC eventually lost control of it due to Nanook & the residents of Penacony became members of the Family under Xipe

In terms of the Trailblaze Mission itself, we never see Xipe in person but we do see two notable instances of (extensions of) Xipe’s powers in the story: first is when we enter the Dreamscape & Robin helps us get accustomed to the new environment through tuning; second time is when Sunday invokes their power on Aventurine during the interrogation

In both cases we get the rainbow aura reminiscent of Xipe’s halo around our screens, for the MC we seem to have less of a problem whereas Aventurine suffers the entire time he’s under the influence; this reminds me of our clockwork ability which is essentially direct emotional manipulation (Clockie is most definitely sus, no question about it)

To me this change in how the extensions of Xipe’s power can go from harmless to dangerous is representative of Penacony’s storyline; it looks like a normal peaceful resort at first glance but then we learn about the darker aspect of the Dreamscape aka the memes that have appeared & untold dangers

To end this off, I do want to reiterate how Ena, HooH, and Xipe are interesting representations of different aspects of balance if you could tell based off my title for this thread; my main reason why I bring this up is bc Nanook is presented or framed as the main antagonist of this game bc of their nature as the Aeon of Destruction and the intention/goal is to stop them supposedly…

Therefore I am curious of whether we will see Xipe, HooH, and just the other Aeons in general play a bigger role in this plot of somehow stopping Nanook or if they’ll leave them be bc that is simply their nature; they are all beings who follow their own concepts & ideals so they do what they feel is right based off of their own values

If we are to consider what is balance in this universe, destruction would be the opposite of preservation which is represented by Qlipoth but we also can consider Yaoshi to be their opposite since they help grow life wherever they go

We also were somewhat expecting the Annihilation Gang to make an appearance during the story but we learned that they disbanded after Ifrit was killed by Acheron; does this mean that we won’t really see them again? We also know that Nanook doesn’t really like how the Annihilation Gang operates bc they see their sadistic desire to destroy as “impure” so it seems almost like we’re left hanging when it comes to them

I know that we are still in the Penacony arc so this might not be addressed at the moment but I’m still interested in seeing how the overall plot involving Nanook will play out 👀

I've got a few things I haven't talked about yet (or haven't talked about recently) that I'm like. Rotating in my mind!! I've drawn my characters with the details so like. They're not a secret but I want to Specifically Point Them Out!!

1) Leaf's knee brace! I somewhat recently added a knee brace to Leaf's design! She and her twin brother have CIPA (congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis) which is basically they can't feel pain and don't sweat. Most people with CIPA are prone to injury since they don't have the pain warning to stop them. I decided to give Leaf a knee brace both because her design is very symmetrical and I wanted to break that up and because I love giving characters disability aids :D

She hurt her knee sledding as a kid, btw. Her brother has a scrap scar on his face from the same sledding outing.

2) Hassan's design! I've had his image in my head a LONG time I just lacked the skills to draw him (wrinkles are hard) and I'm kinda glad I waited bc I recently learned some cool disability things that would effect him! I saw a post specifying that when giving characters facial scars, like Hassan has, that you should think about how it effects the facial features around the scar! So now he has a squinty eye. He's also missing a leg, and I decided to research historical prosthetics, especially peg legs, so I could give him a more accurate, less thrown together prosthetic. I found multiple really interesting diagrams of peg legs that I really should have saved (oops).

But anyway! Peg legs were usually used for below-knee amputations, and the user would have their knee bent and the prosthetic strapped on to their thigh (and sometimes hip for extra stability). The user would also usually rely on crutch or crutches, so he has one now!

3) The differences between the twins! Although Leaf and Cypress are identical, their lifestyles are quite different. Leaf spends a ton of time outside so she's tan with sun-bleached hair. Cypress spends all his time below deck so he has dark hair and pale skin.

Also, identical twins are almost always the same AGAB, Leaf is just trans so that's why they're different genders asdklfjhaskl

Cypress is also autistic with flat effect so his facial expression and voice are very monotone, so their facial expressions are another big reason why they don't look as identical as you'd expect.

The Chameleon in Chinese Culture

The Chameleon actually resonates with Chinese people.

Firstly, China has a very famous empress named 武则天（Wu Zetian）The chameleon appearance is very similar to this empress in Chinese TV dramas. (Interested parties can search for it.)

Secondly, the patterns on her body. Her patterns are derived from Chinese bronzes. Bronzes are the representatives of Chinese culture and technology in the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, with a special social status, and are the products of a strict hierarchical system. Chinese bronzes first appeared around 5000 BC and spanned a history of about 3,000 years. The first empress and the earliest dynasties, these two ideas have a strong impact on Chinese people. But her clothing is in a male style rather than female.

I'm not sure if it's intentional by the production team or if they've researched to that extent. This might be related to another thought of mine, that as a woman, she still identified with the male perspective.

Thirdly, her patterns are similar to "taotie patterns"饕餮纹.

Taotie饕餮 is a mythical creature in China. Also is a fierce and voracious beast, one of the four evil creatures. It symbolizes greed and is often used to describe gluttonous or greedy individuals.

However, the taotie patterns are slightly different. They feature a frontal animal head with symmetrically arranged pairs of horns, brows, ears, as well as a nose, mouth, and jaw. Some have elongated trunks, limbs, claws, and tails on both sides. The taotie features horns resembling those of a water buffalo, a nose reminiscent of a tiger's, and feathers akin to those of a bird. The layout typically follows a symmetrical arrangement along the central axis of the nose bridge, forming a beast-like visage with large eyes, a nose, and paired horns, often lacking a lower lip. So, The Chameleon's transformation into such a figure is consistent with the setting.

Scholars believe that taotie patterns help shamans communicate between heaven, earth, and humans, serving as assistants to the shamans. Some scholars also argue that these mythical beasts are the natural gods or ancestral gods worshipped by clans, tasked by the gods to bring rain and ensure bountiful harvests. Others advocate that these mythical creatures are the gods themselves, and taotie patterns represent the faces of the gods. Regardless of which interpretation, it actually implies that The Chameleon is designed to be someone who uses spells, summons spirits from the spirit world, which is all reasonable.

The significance of being the first empress, the representation of the first dynasty, the fierce mythical beast, and the pattern symbolizing communication with the gods are all profound. It's unfortunate that in such a story.

Even though Kung Fu Panda 4's plot may not have been satisfactory, I still really like the character of the Chameleon.

• Gender: female

• General appearance: Has a birthmark that looks like a scar across the bridge of her nose; it formed sometime in the womb when Doom accidentally caught the corner of a table with her tummy which is why it doesn’t “heal”. Her hair is unkempt, much like her parents, only—she has the tendency to cut her own hair, something she finds amusing and fun, especially due to the reaction it draws out of her parents. She has very sharp teeth and a little gap somewhere in between her fangs that’s reminiscent of Butch’s but not quite as symmetrical. She has horns and an imp tail similar to Butch’s but black in color considering Doomsday’s ears, and pointy ears of her own, something she inherited from Butch’s demon form. Her nose comes to a point and is a perpetual color of red, much like Butch’s own. Her sense of style is… all over the place. Sometimes she feels like dressing up but the majority of the time, she will throw on random mismatched outfits and go about her day without a care. Butch and Doomsday are both happy to allow her to express herself though, the only constant seems to be the “shaw” she wears which is actually her old baby blanket she’s had since the day she was born. She enjoys running around and pretending she can fly with it as if it’s a cape. One day she might grow a pair of wings herself! Carries around a plastic squirt gun so she can shoot whenever she wants without actually hurting someone. She also has claws so for now, she wears gloves to keep from scratching her face or someone else by accident.

• Personality: the worst kind of trouble maker. She loves pranks and causing trouble because the reactions she gets are just too funny! The worst part is that as a child, her empathy has yet to develop, so she does some pretty wicked things for fun which often results in a scolding—but only when it’s legitimately destructive like breaking others property or hurting someone. She is often excluded because of her tendency to be a handful which results in her butting in anyway and making herself the center of attention. She’s a lonely child but all the same is completely content with entertaining herself alone.

• Special talents: takes after Doomsday in the sense that she often has accidents that result in her death, only to come back as if nothing had even happened (this scares the life out of Butch everytime it happens and despite knowing she has this ability, he’s especially protective of her and will go to great lengths to keep her out of danger). She also maintains Butch’s demonic abilities, and is actually quite skilled! With super strength and quick regenerative abilities. She picked up on her abilities rather quickly, and as proud as Doom and Butch probably are of her, they can’t help but worry for her sometimes.

• Who they like better: I want to say Butch because she knows she can get away with more when he’s around; meanwhile, Doom is privy to all of her tricks. All she has to do is give him those puppy dog eyes and he’s puddy in her hands.

• Who they take after more: definitely Doomsday, both in intelligence and abilities—I imagine as she gets older, their personalities might even clash a bit. That or they become an unstoppable mother/daughter force of chaos!

• Personal headcanon(s): She has trouble making connections with other children her age considering her behavioral issues and unconventional interests. She’s an avid reader and very advanced at that. She loves the horror genre the most. Has the tendency to use big words to look smart, even if she doesn’t know quite what they mean. Likes to make stories up about her birthmark, calling it a scar around others just to get a reaction/because it makes her feel strong. Butch taught her to shoot a gun at a young age, another skill she picked up quickly and she’s not half bad a shot either! Butch gave her one of his old belt buckles and she treasures it with her whole being, insisting on wearing it with every outfit.

Her real name is Athena but when she was a baby she almost got crushed by a family sized can of Bush’s Baked Beans so. Beans.

Got in trouble last week for ripping open and eating bags of kitten food for the outdoor cats even though she has plenty of food.

His name came from the pattern on his back, which I don’t have a good picture of. But it’s mostly black except for two brown stripes that run down his spine, and then he has symmetrical circle shapes on either side of his stomach — which resemble the segmentation of a beetle.

The name also stuck bc he insists that everything is about him and he needs to be the center of attention. He is a menace and has been permabanned from my bedroom for trying to eat one of my joints.

Mr Hyde (almost 3, brown tabby but with a more silvery-tone in the browns, orange eyes, Beetle’s twin)

His name became fitting bc his brother chases and attacks him relentlessly to the point he spends all of his time hiding in the master bedroom closet.

Whenever he comes out he will stand up and give me hugs, so his nickname is Mr Huggy. If you pet him for long enough his eyes drift apart and he purrs while sticking his tongue out.

ep25 (pt 4): ships nearly passing in the night

GODD THIS SCENE IS SO FUCKING HAUNTING. the music is gorgeous, the cinematography dreamlike and surreal and symmetrical, the acting deliberate and impactful

I like that it doesn't rely on shock value for the power of this scene. there's wen qing, and there's wwx. and their courses may or may not collide. they're both wandering. wwx is drinking heavily, unwilling to play nice at the banquet and probably feeling a little abandoned by jyl. wq is bereft, hungry and alone and desperate to find her brother and utterly without hope

shots from each character's position. the audience can see the other in the distance, but they don't see each other.

I LOVE this shot. absolutely stunning and says so much. though the market is crowded with people, these are the only two that matter. will their paths cross?

wq coughs, too focused on the ground beneath her feet to notice the eye-catching and distinctive cultivator she knows so well. there's a barrier between them. wwx doesn't see wen qing's face, only the back of her hood

she's shoved down, he turns. she looks up, they see each other, allies in another life. they stare at one another for a long, long moment

lwj has been weirdly distant and passive this entire episode. there are so many other characters in this episode that he did get pushed to the side, but even at the target practice he was unmoved

I didn't think much of this line on my first watch, because...yeah, lxc was probably right. but if you read the novel it then becomes a whole thing bc lwj DOES bring wwx-as-mxy back to CR against his will and keeps him there so there's this whole debate about lwj's 'darker urges' and whatnot that I personally find very silly? he definitely has a protective streak, and maybe even a little possessiveness, but he's never violated wwx's autonomy in cql, even when wwx was killing himself, and I never thought he ever would. or even could, actually

my preferred interpretation was that it was one of the only ways he could see to protect someone he cared about (didn't have many other role models), but he never would have acted without wwx's permission and he also felt a lot of guilt about it given his father's crimes. and you can see how he lets wwx go at the very end as well because he's not the kind of person his father was. it seems pretty mild to me, on the whole

like I see the appeal in making him a more flawed character and giving him more to overcome but I think his flaws are enough as is and fit the story perfectly already, and in cql I just don't see the evidence for him having such a powerful need to dominate or possess wwx to keep him safe. but you see a lot of meta where his desire to protect gets really tortuous and dramatic and I just don't think it's that deep.

i have so much to say. starting with i took a photo of myself tonight on august 29 2024.. i looked absolutely miserable. i looked 30 with a receding hairline😭 i look like i been doing drugs and shit. it felt pretty depressing to see if im honest… my life is moving so fast and i didnt even realize it. im turning 22 in 3 months.. i just turned 21. i barely even remember 21. probably because i didnt create very many memories.. i just need to make sure i get into school and take my classes and show up for them yk? it took me this long to start them.. its been 3 years since i graduated high school.. it feels long but would i think a 3 year okd baby is old? no.. id be like wow she has time. i dont know what this time crunch is when u get to ur 18 or 20s. it just feels like life speeds up and u have to get everything u ever wanted don. like there is this funny sound on tiktok that goes, did you know that u have 30 minutes??? and someone said me when blah blah life in my 20s to get their dream life. that is genuinely how it feels. it feels like i have 30 minutes to get all that i want. ngl im hust jappy imnnot where i use to be.. being 19 and talking to racist dudes all because i had no other options. i so badly wanted a bf i would make anyone fit the role. its like when u cant wait? so u jump the gun to early? like being in discord at 16… feining for make attention. male attention is so glorified. u think its some romanticcc thing but its really not… google says its because of socialization,, which makes sense i was taught boys dont like this they dont like when girls do that, etc. and if i was ever to get married i better make sure i hide this part of myself.

'soooo... how has that boy from the luofu been-' 'im going to kill you' if they befriended each other before kafka's story quest or the fight at scalegorge you best believe silver wolf is giving both kafka and blade the silent treatment for WEEKS after they get back. mainly kafka though (cuz she has her spirit whisper and didnt even need to make stelle beat up yanqing in the first place) i can imagine it leads to fantastic angst bc silver knows but yanqing doesnt (kafka made him forget) so its only a reminder of how different they are (yanqing being the beloved prodigy lieutenant and silverwolf being a wanted criminal with no real space for her beyond her other group of wanted criminals) it creates some beef id say. SW doesnt get why yanqing always chooses to see the good in people or fight to incapacitate instead of kill because she knows for a fact hes seen just as much if not more bloodshed then her and if he is choosing to be good then why cant she and what does that say about her. what can i say i just lov eangst

Her childhood was spent on the Ninth though! Like, she WAS 100% unquestionably the hottest person around. Mostly everyone else was geriatric. I do think Gideon is hot but like, the reason SHE thinks she's hot shit is imo because of her body, which she worked hard for vs. her facial features - she has acne and wears face paint, so. We're told later on that Gideon makes a very good looking corpse, and she's a dead ringer for Wake who even Mercy calls hot, but I think the reason she feels herself is because of her ripped arms.
