I am happy with the family hugs and love we got in the 3rd movie. But also, I was also hoping for family kisses, too?! Too much? Like SIS LOOK AT ME, I refuse to accept them not having kissed each other already! Like how can you look at them fluffy creatures you have adopted and resist the urge to pat their heads or boop their noses or cuddle or kiss or just squish them dead all the time? Crossing my fingers for at least parental forehead kisses in movie 4! 🤞😌 Anyway, what is your take on the Wachowski brothers recieving their first ever kisses from Tom and Maddie? 😃❤

Oh yes definitely absolutely. Smooches abound in the Wachowski family, though it takes a varying amount of time before the boys become comfortable with it.

Long post underneath with individual headcanons.

Sonic was most stubborn about it for sure. Hugs he was already hesitant about bc he always had an ego to maintain, even when no one was watching. That doesn’t mean that he didn’t seek them out from time to time. Kisses were the same principle but even worse, especially since he grew up thinking they were something mainly from mushy romance movies that he would watch (and fall asleep out of boredom at) through their window. It started with them blowing kisses during goodbyes (like Maddie did in movie 2). One rough evening after a particularly bad nightmare, Tom got bold and gave him a swift one between the ears. He loosened up a bit faster after that. He and Tom established their own ritual, where Tom would kiss the palm of his hand and rub it into Sonic’s forehead sparing him only some of the embarrassment he still grapples with.

Knuckles had the benefit of watching Tom and Maddie doing it to Sonic at least, but he was still extremely hesitant about them at first. One day though, Maddie gave him a quick lil kiss after he helped her out randomly with a chore and he froze. He was overwhelmed in that moment and had no idea how to respond for such praise after what he thought was such a menial task. After a while, the power of love and the meaning behind this “human ritual of affection and vulnerability”…fascinated him in all honesty. He wanted to understand it, and Tom and Maddie were more than happy to oblige. It got to the point where Knuckles actually became the only one of their boys that would attempt to reciprocate the gesture occasionally. He is now honored to receive them and takes the goodbye and goodnight smooches with full gratitude.

Tails accepted kisses the quickest in comparison to both of them. I think the first time was a duel comfort attempt from both Tom and Maddie. It was after a device/invention failure and Tails was really upset. Lowkey was terrified of them lashing out or being angry because he messed up, but they assured him it was completely the opposite. He was always the quickest to accept physical affection and kisses were no exception. He melted into it wholeheartedly, already knowing it was a gesture that represented love and gratitude.

now i know that the new year's episode canonized that there is no christmas in the sonic boomniverse but consider with me. christmas episode of sonic boom where amy's like "well what are you guys doing for christmas" and all the boys respond with something super lame but funny (tails is going to spend christmas with his Plane) and she's like "sticks tell me you're doing something nice" and sticks is like "oh i don't celebrate christmas. i don't want any old guy breaking into my house and leaving me unidentified objects" and tails is like "but sticks don't you want shiny things?" "not if they're bombs" and sonic goes "santa doesn't bring bombs, sticks" and she's like "so you say. but when his final plan to turn the world into an endless pole of ice comes to fruition, don't come crying to me" and she leaves the table (they're at mehburger) and amy's like "i think sticks just needs to get into the holiday spirit" and knuckles is like "the holiday spit?" and sonic is like "knuckles do you want to go lie down" "yes!!!! :D"

anyway it's christmas eve and amy starts preparing a christmas party to throw for sticks and she stops by tails's workshop in order to pick up some tools to hang a banner but she hears some weird noises coming from inside so she breaks in with her hammer only to find sonic with a santa hat and tails trying to load up a sleigh and she's like "what" and sonic reveals that actually, Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog's "Sonic Christmas Blast" is completely and utterly canon to the boomniverse and thus he is actively santa claus. he has been trying to sneak presents into sticks's house for years bc he loves her but he has to save it for last because her traps always get him stuck. we cutaway to a silly montage of sonic trying to leave her stuff only to get caught. luckily he can just eat the santa hat and she will assume he got trapped protecting her from laser-eyed reindeer and let him back out (this works every year). amy completely ignores the revelation that sonic is santa claus and instead swears herself to helping him get sticks's presents to her. she also brings in knuckles and sonic's like "don't you think he'll tell people that i'm santa" and she's like "naw he's already forgotten" and knuckles says "who's santa"

we then have a heist-movie-formatted rest of the episode of sonic, knuckles and amy trying to sneak presents into sticks's burrow while her defense systems nearly take them out and tails runs reconnaissance. at one point amy decides they need to borrow orbot and cubot for a thing. we cut to orbot and cubot trying to decorate the lair for christmas and eggman tells them to stop because the motobugs keep trying to climb the christmas tree and the buzzbots get tangled in the garlands. amy just walks into the house and asks politely if they can borrow orbot and cubot and eggman's like "what the heck. no" and amy pulls out her hammer and yells "IT'S CHRISTMAS YOU JERK" and eggman's like "uuhhhhhhh alright go ahead."

anyway this continues until the team's finally inside sticks's house and they're setting up her presents when suddenly the lights go out. a light shines on sticks, hanging from the rafters; she is always prepared every night for intruders, and so she ties everyone to the christmas tree amy tried to set up and then is like "oh. it's just you guys. did you get mind-controlled by elves" and sonic's finally like "STICKS. THERE ARE NO MIND-CONTROLLING ELVES. I'M SANTA AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU YOUR STUPID UNLICENSED WEAPONS" and amy's like "WHAT??? THAT'S THE PRESENT WE WERE GIVING HER??? WHERE IS YOUR HOLIDAY SPIRIT, SANTA" and sticks is just like "oooh!!! actually that is a good present, thanks. also you could have just told me you were santa" "no i couldn't. you would have executed me as a traitor" "yeah, i would've." "can you untie us now" "oh. yeah"

sticks unties them and there's a nice "merry christmas" between everyone. and then sticks says "but you guys DO know i also don't celebrate christmas because i'm jewish right" and the episode ends

HELLO ANON IM GLAD YOU ASKED I HAVE AN EXCUSE TO RANT ABOUT SONIC’S CHARACTER BC I LOVE HIM A LOT AND I FEEL LIKE NO ONE REALLY WANTS TO THINK ABOUT HIM ON HIS OWN!!

short answer: absolutely BUT whether it’s in-character depends on the way his feelings are portrayed.

long answer: Have you ever wondered why everyone has their own personal love language? In this essay I will-

let’s take a step back and just overview sonic’s character a little bit:

Essentially, at his core, Sonic is a character who values his freedom and the freedom of others at his very core. His main drive to keep moving is motivated by his love for adventure and that thrill of adventure. Romance is never and will never be his top priority, it’ll always be adventure, so y’all gotta understand that first. But his friends come to a close second.

And that’s where the line between romance and friendship starts to blur a little bit. What do I mean by that?

Well let’s look at his relationship with Amy purely as a platonic relationship: Sonic and Amy are the best of friends.

They hang out quite a bit more than Sonic does with other characters, and Amy is the closest non-sibling relationship that Sonic has. Tails is his little brother; yes they’re close and yes they hang out a lot, but again it’s a very sibling-like bond. That’s not necessarily a bad thing and I’m not dismissing it—I really, REALLY appreciate Tails and Sonic’s relationship. It’s very cute and a very mutual thing in my opinion. A lot of people might say that Sonic only inspires Tails while Tails provides gadgets and brainpower for Sonic, but that’s just not true. FOR ONE SONIC’S CANON IQ LEVEL IS LIKE 178 IF IIRC HE’S SMART GUYS. HE DOES NOT NEED TAILS TO BE HIS BRAIN. HE MADE HIS OWN FRICKING PLANE. But Tails is the person he can always rely on and pretty much talk to about anything. PRETTY much. But there’s also that small underlying role model that Sonic should be for Tails to some extent, because he is Tails’ older brother.

Knuckles is #2 out of Sonic’s closest friends, and his main role is being a rival/challenge to sonic without being a threat to him. They’re still extremely close friends who would die for each other after all. They bicker and Sonic does love to tease knuckles quite a bit since knux is so quick to get angry. But they still respect each other and know that they can rely on each other. Also lowkey they’re kinda the not-so-friendly homie relationship; if tails and sonic are wholesome homies, knux and sonic are the “we beat each other up /aff” homies

and then we have Amy. Sonic’s closest female friend. genuinely argue with the wall if you can’t see that. SONIC DOES NOT HATE AMY HE VALUES HER AS A FRIEND AND CLOSE COMRADE sorry i hate people who say sonic can’t stand amy are you guys THAT media illiterate

So Amy is the closest thing that Sonic has to a friend who is a complete equal to Sonic, and let me explain why I say that AMY is his equal, and not someone like Metal Sonic or Shadow.

First off, Amy is not in any way a rival to Sonic. Sure she’s been paired against him multiple times in Team Sonic vs Team Rose, but it’s all on friendly terms and sillies. Second, she’s the one of the ONLY character who shares the exact same thirst for adventure that Sonic does. Heck i’m pretty sure one of her opening lines in Sonic Adventure was something along the lines of “it’s so boring when Sonic’s not around.” She doesn‘t care much for a normal, mundane lifestyle anymore than Sonic does. yes she’s a little more grounded than Sonic is in general and likes doing stationary things like baking and gardening, but she still gets bored easily. Her idea of fun can consist of picking flowers or decimating badniks (i love her sm)

Lastly there’s no strings attached to her love for Sonic, she just loves him for who he is and who he inspires her to be. Her favorite thing about him is his free spirit, which heaven forbid she ever tie down. The second she expressed that to Sonic, he was IMMEDIATELY became much more comfortable around her, because he understood where she was coming from and what her true intentions were. After that he started hanging out with her way more often and he was also really comfortable with her in general (i’m talking specifically about the idw comics here). He can talk to her about just about any problem because she understands; she’s been with him much longer than most others. Bro she was introduced before Knuckles, technically speaking…and she’s gone through the same experiences and adventures that he has. The only thing that Tails has different from Amy in terms of being able to talk about problems is that in the past I feel like Sonic has wanted to protect Tails from certain things (though this seems to have changed in Frontiers with Tails’ whole thing being more independent and growing up) but he really doesn’t have to do that with Amy because he doesn’t have the same older sibling urges if ykwim.

tldr: amy’s sonic’s bestie that is most like him who’s also on equal footing with him

Okay then, now let’s talk rOmAnCE

Sonic’s history in the romance department has been….messy to say the least. Always baffles me because Amy has been right there the whole time…

And it seems to me that each time Sonic is depicted in a steady, strong relationship, at least some part of his core character is sacrificed for that. I feel like this is especially evident in the Archie Comics, like, you mean to tell me Sonic willingly accepts becoming king and staying tied to a kingdom?? Like that’s not inherently wrong but that’s definitely not game Sonic—that is Archie Sonic AND THATS FINE. its just a different iteration of Sonic, like how movie Sonic is drastically different from game Sonic

Amy matters a LOT to Sonic

Sonic’s not one for words but rather actions

One, yeah, this is something that is special to Amy and Sonic, to the point where even the audience doesn’t know what he said to her because its muted (stellar choice in my opinion because it adds a lot more weight to them) but its pretty obvious that he either said “Aishiteru, Emi” or “Daisuki, Emi”, both of which mean “i love you Amy” on a pretty deep level. But the point is that its between them and between them only. Even later in season 3 when Amy talks about it, she’s deliberately cut off before she can repeat what Sonic said to her that day. Obviously this isn’t supposed to be public knowledge

Two, the context is that Sonic has literally been stuck on another planet for quite some time, and most people either gave up on him ever returning or thought he was dead. But not Amy. And guess what? The first place he goes to—he literally BEELINES there as Super Sonic—is straight to Amy’s house. He wanted to see her first and likely reassure him that he was okay because he knew that she’d be worried sick. Also I think he just missed her in general…

Three, he knows what a white (or lavender idc) rose means and deliberately chose that flower to give to her upon his return. And again with the muted words, his actions speak louder to us as an audience than a simple “i looooove you amyyy” and this is generally a common theme with Sonic, especially in Sonic X (probably the most accurate representation of Sonic outside the games).

btw this can be taken as platonic but man do i want to yap about it:

amy KNOWS sonic can’t swim and even in her barely conscious state she tells him to basically leave her for dead. HIS SAFETY IS STILL HER TOP PRIORITY. but does sonic listen? nahhh. there were literally hundreds of other people perfectly capable of rescuing amy but noooo he went in and dove after her because HIS top priority was HER safety

also the whole thing how he didn’t just restring the bracelet she made him, no, her tied a new string to the original ones and went and got more shells?? that are found next to his biggest fear??? yeah that speaks volumes about how much he treasures that lil gift of hers

lastly its kind of small but i really appreciate how he just lets her hug him and reciprocates too? it’s very adorable

and i have one final thing that i want to bring up to drive my point home that some people may not take as canon but hey it exists

well there you go! that’s sonic’s characterization. yes he likes amy but isn’t showy about it. that’s essentially what i’ve been building up to.

he’s not gonna go yell to the world that he loves his girlfriend sososososo much but like in private? hell yeah (though rn its more like they both know that amy loves sonic, duh, but they also both know that sonic likes amy and they’re just chilling with it, not quite dating but two friends that know they like each other)

And me personally? i like to see them as top notch battle couple with an hair tearing amount of romantic tension lol cause yeah thats my jammm

SPOILERS FOR STH 3!!!

Scene analysis (heavily focused on Knuckles).

So there’s this scene in Sonic 3 in London where Sonic decides that despite their initial intentions to never use the master emerald anymore, he insists on using it for vengeance (after Shadow hurts Tom).

In this scene Sonic and Knuckles stand head to head and get worked up to the point where they’re charging up their powers, (Tails in kinda in the middle trying to calm them both down).

I got emotional in this scene, like full on tears in my eyes for a split second. Let me tell you why:

This is the scene that shows Knuckles’ endless patience for Sonic and Tails.

We know as an audience that Knux is always eager to go into battle, perhaps even too eager, but when it comes to his siblings, he’s always patient. So when Sonic tries to start a fight with him, he gets riled up at first but then takes a moment to calm himself down.

He refrains from hurting his brother and instead tries to talk to him calmly, to reason with him.

And if that’s not an oldest sibling strait I honestly don’t know what is.

I don’t think some people realise how hard it is to stay calm when your younger siblings are angering you. Like not teasing but properly pissing you off, especially if your sibling is a younger teenager (think 11-14 or 15).

At some point, you as the oldest have to realise that you have to be the calm one because naturally, teens are hormonal as shit and they can’t really help it (sometimes). We’ve all been there and we all know what it feels like to get wound up easily as a kid, and as an oldest child, you didn’t have someone who would calmly deal with you. Your parents would just get angry or chalk it up to a phase, so it’s either too much discipline or none at all for their first kid, then leave them to deal with the others when they grow up (obviously this isn’t the case with the trio here bc they were all taken in as teens so it’s different - the attention Tom and Maggie would’ve shown to them as babies and children are being shown now that they’re actually a family).

So shout out to all my oldest siblings out there, including Knuckles, because it’s like constantly taking punches to the face and actively remaining steady on your feet without letting your anger get the best of you.

This especially goes for a traumatic or high anxiety situation, like Tom’s injury. Sonic’s love for him and his worry and regret is consuming him in this moment and throwing him into a blind rage. Tails is also really worried, and as the youngest, it goes without saying that you try to cushion any pain as much as possible, so he’s not gonna be expected to help. Who’s left then? To help deal with Sonic? Knuckles.

He realises Sonic’s having a hard time, knows what it feels like to lose loved ones, understands the worry of “will they return home?” and how the reality of the situation can hit at any moment and how crippling it can be.

So Knuckles swallows his pride and tries to reason with Sonic.

And it’s really fucking hard to do that. Especially when being put in this position.

This rant feels repetitive but I have to get it out there just how hard it is to do this. At the end of the day, even if we are the oldest sibling, even if we have an obligation to be the bigger person, we still have feelings. All this emotional burden is gonna build up. It’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just the position we were born in. It’s our job to be that pillar of strength for our younger siblings, but if you keep throwing small stones at a pillar, eventually it’ll start to chip and crumble. So to have the strength to remain steady is the real superpower.

Like holy shit, talk about dual burden. Knux is also feeling the pain of potentially losing Tom, but he’s still there to comfort and protect his family and also shoulder his own difficult emotions. Because no one was there to do that for him when he needed it the most. He may never have anyone to protect him quite like that, and an older sibling will protect their younger ones even if it means making sacrifices. Remember that parents don’t have the same effect as siblings. Adults can only have so much understanding, but growth moves with the times, and each coming generation develops in unique ways, so grown ups will never grasp the full extent of the younger generation’s struggles, just as us younger people will never understand what they went through and how they dealt with it.

So props to Knuckles, he really is 1000000% muscle, and his most important muscles, his heart and brain, work together incredibly well. He doesn’t have to be book smart, his emotional intelligence makes up for that.

(Disclaimer: this is just my interpretation so just take it with a grain of salt, also sorry for this utterly incoherent rant, I have feelings about this movie- and this silly little echidna.)

GAHH MISC PRIME IDEAS

Each shatterspace represents a character and includes a villain significant to them. Also, there's a real world artifact that corresponds to the prisms significance for each world. Each shatterspace looks at a different angle of the characters traits, which impacts story.

(no egg council bc I think they're weird for existing)

Tails is New Yoke, the referenced artifact is the Chaos Emeralds, and his corresponding antagonist is Eggman. Nine's the Miles Prower who never was saved, the one who had to grow up too fast, the one who thinks he is grown. He's not used to being cared for, and nobody's ever wanted a street rat kid. Not in Robotnik's city

Knuckles is No Place, the referenced artifact is the Master Emerald, and his corresponding antagonist is Chaos. Dread's character would be different, wanting to find the answers of the Echidna's. He's been wanting to figure out his ancestry for a long time, but the answers are guarded by Chaos. Sonic gives him courage to seek out the answers for himself, but it puts his crew in danger.

Amy is Boscage Maze, the referenced artifact is the Time Stones, and her corresponding antagonist is Metal. Thorn has peered into two futures, one with plants and life, and another with buildings, smog, and death. Thorn is terrified and paranoid about people hurting her forest, so she drove everyone out. She doesn't want anyone building anything. Metal is a robot from who knows where/when, and has been covered in vines and other plant life, and Thorn thinks Metal will bring death. Thorn is paranoid and stubborn, good intentions but bad execution.

Rouge doesn't have her own Shatterspace because I have no ideas!!!!!! Aaaghh!!!!!

But also, I want to talk about some personalities of the other shattered characters! New Yoke: Knux and Rebel aren't much different at the moment, but Rusty's not Rusty anymore! I don't have a name for her, so she's just Rose for now. Rose is always wanting to help, but she's left behind. she's like a younger sister to Knux, and she's kinda bratty about not being included since she's young! She just wants to help. No Place: Sails is very meek and shy. He avoids confrontation and is completely loyal to Dread. Even if he knows better, he'd doubt himself. None of the others currently have much of a plan. Boscage Maze: I'm not calling Knuckles "gnarly" rn. Knuckles is very tactical and knows how to survive. He's a planner and, even if he seems too paranoid, most of it pays off in the end. He's always building traps and defending his friends from Thorn.

For some of the characters, I don't know what I want to do with them yet.

If you have any ideas for Rouge's Shatterspace, pls tell me. Also if you have any ideas for renaming characters like Rusty Rose, Gnarly Knuckles, I'd love to hear it.

Had a cool idea and I need thoughts:

So like I was thinking about writing fanfics but then I’m like what do I write about? So I’m brainstorming and hear me out- a Shadow/Amy legally blonde AU!!

Crazy right? But then I’m like it could kinda make sense on a base level. I mean you got Amy as Elle, Shadow as Emmett, Sonic as Warner- it could work!

Still not entirely sure who to put for other characters since I literally just came up with this but we could go like Rouge as Paulette (and then knuckles could be the mailman wait that’s actually so funny). Maybe put Blaze as Vivian or maybe Sally (although I have very little knowledge of her character).

No clue what to do about professor Callahan, maybe robotnik? But that feels weird considering the plot so maybe just make him an oc?? Or of course we could switch up the plot but idk yet…

Then I also thought about putting silver or the chaotix in there somewhere? And of course tails idk where to put him. And where would omega fit if he does at all? And is there going to be a dynamic between shadow and rouge? And what about age ups/gaps?? And as far as legally blonde goes im gonna need someone to be Brooke Wyndham and the delta nu girls.

internally: decent movie. more tolerable than the previous for most parts. rewatchable. FINALLY has a soundtrack that sounds like sonic and DOESNT have gratuitous plot-irrelevant human scenes. sonic gets to do sonic stuff!!!!! characterization makes sense given previous movies and (very slightly) nudges him towards something potentially interesting. not inventive AT ALL (missing everything intriguing about SA2) but could be worse

externally: while some lore omissions make sense given the world established by the previous films, those choices are boring and others they make are completely baffling changes. rouge omission harms the whole thing. i dislike the entire direction they’ve taken with their sonic characterization and the themes and they fundamentally miss key traits for everyone involved . why did we do this. what was the point

it’s fun. more consistently enjoyable than the previous but that’s mostly bc the scenes that bothered me with the aggressive Carryness had tails in them so i could just watch him be cute.

lore change to make him another mystery alien is annoying but frustratingly makes sense given the context. i’m not torn up over it <- don’t care about shadow and didn’t expect much going in . the missing part of maria’s story is ridiculous though (why is she just there??????)

i love herrrr i love her 70s energy and outfits and i will incorporate the roller skates. its soooo cute . the godzilla movie with the biolizard is pretty funny but that’ll totally piss off diehards. i do think they do good job of showing shadow + maria as friends and why he cares so much about her but that’s mainly just the scope of a film vs a video game

In my head, this AU's story is like 300k words long but I'm incapable of all that so here's some little storybeats and worldbuilding I suppose ...

So...I got the idea for this AU because I wanted to explore a character I hadn't explored much of yet, with the intent of Shadow and Sonic being forced in each others shoes. Shadow is confronted with a mirror of his trust issues, and how he still struggles to let himself REALLY enjoy the world he and Maria wanted to see so bad, Sonic has the discomforting catharsis of being truly unshackled from what the world expects of him. Sonic doesn't need to be a hero. He isn't one. He doesn't have any friends he needs to worry about.

We follow Shadow as he wakes up in an unfamiliar place. Shadow doesn't know it's the phantom ruby yet, but he knows something isn't right when he sees Maria in what should be Rouge's room. In fact, Rouge and Omega don't seem to exist at all. When asked about them, Shadow's "friends" shoot him confused glances and tilted heads. No, he's not a member of "Team Dark". He's best friends with Amy Rose and Knuckles the Echidna, and together they all help in the on-going fight against Maria's cousin Ivo Robotnik, their greatest enemy. When Shadow asks whatever happened to Sonic and his high-flying companion, Amy's brow furrows and she gives him a sour look. Why are we talking about that blue, hot-heated jerk right now?

Sonic wakes up from a recurring dream about the same facility that he feels he was born in. His cramped, tight living quarters as familiar to him as the metal bands adorning his wrist and ankles. This is how it's always been. It's all he knows. All he remembers. He, his pal Tails, and other young orphaned mobians with "interesting quirks" were taken by G.U.N., Sonic's super speed and reaction to chaos energy being the focus of research. He was tested on, subjected to WAY too much chaos energy (dark sonic.. smiles), and he's constantly monitored in a room that's too small for him. Sonic, Tails, and a few more of the kids tried to escape, which ended in Sonic being the only one captured alive. This is Sonic's strongest memory. It burns in his mind like an afterimage that won't go away. Sonic is no one's friend and no one's ally, he couldn't keep any if he cared to try, not after what it took from him, when he had only one thing that was truly precious. He's quick to anger, and quicker to act before thinking. If typical, usual Sonic is someone who never displays negative emotions, this Sonic is incapable of keeping them IN. Sonic would run through anyone in his way, literally, if the metal bands on his wrist didn't prevent him from doing so, anyhow.

It should be mentioned that Shadow believes that everyone in this phantom-ruby powered version of their world is just as fake and phony as the world itself. Shadow is no longer the naive person he was before. He knows nothing is right here. He plays along. He adopts his own awkward form of Sonic's quips that don't last very long. He commonly sports a big, toothy grin and softens his face. He plays Sonic's role and reaps the benefits of someone so free and self-confident. Someone who has loyal, affectionate friends. Someone who's beloved by the world. Someone who has a sibling-like best friend. It's not THAT easy for him to do it of course, but overtime, he does. If it makes it easier for Shadow to reach his goal, he will adapt. In my head, this story is...months long.

Shadow's friends, Maria especially, don't like when Sonic is brought up. When they're on missions that result in Sonic stepping in to take care of egghead, (sonic has a more vulgar word for him) they do everything to keep them both separate. The world doesn't want them talking to each other. The world doesn't want them both to know more than what's told to them. Sonic's earring is replaced by a device that causes a ringing sound that gives Sonic headaches when Shadow's around. Good. Sonic doesn't want to be around this dork anyway. Shadow takes this as NEEDING to persue Sonic, which he's not a fan of. He can hardly handle Sonic's Sonicisms as he is, and this firey, downright ridiculous imitation grinds on his nerves, too. But the more they get into squabbles, the more Shadow begins to question Sonic's fakeness at all. Maybe that's what he's missing. Maybe he's not the only one stuck here.

I'd say it's less that they're opposites for me and more like they're two sides of the same coin. Also I guess because I grew up with Archie Sonic and there's a lot there. Like, it's a WHOLE different dynamic than game!Sonadow (like for instance they were way more like allies than rivals in that comic) and that's what stuck with me -- But I like that they can rely on each other in a way that feels different than friendship. And they can travel together and stuff. Sonic has been all over the world and Shadow might still be trying to discover this planet Maria loved so much. He can be shown the beauty and joy of life on Earth Mobius Unnamed Planet. Does that make any sense at all? I'm sleepy. Also! I like the idea of Shadow just like. Trying to integrate himself within Sonic's friends and family (Tails). He's the only one who'd have this problem btw. Everyone else is chill (except Knuckles maybe).

I was privately writing a fanfic that i shared with my friends that was like, "Aaahhh it's (I think it was 6 total?) years into the future, but ONE year into the future Sonic and Shadow had a jewish wedding bc i hc Shadow as jewish (bc i hc the robotnik family as jewish) and Eggman has been straight up sent to prison by G.U.N. and things are great for a while and there's peace but THEN with Eggman out of the way, G.U.N. does a full-scale invasion on the whole world to "bring order" to a world they find irredeemably chaotic USING Eggman who is now forced to work under them to make weapons of war. Shadow immediately leaves G.U.N. out of disgust and as a cruel "punishment" for this, Sonic gets captured by G.U.N. and turned into their own living weapon. For five years Shadow and Tails, who now consider each other their only family (I won't get into what happened with Amy, Knuckles, Rouge and Omega rn) are trying to survive under this horrible regime and rebelling where they can BUT Shadow is completely heartbroken and sabotages bigger and more dangerous G.U.N. operations in order to lure Sonic out and accepting less help from allies as the years continue on and he's still unable to find and save blue hedgehog husband. He returns to Tails with more and more injuries that Tails has to fix up and there's a lot of yelling. So I guess I like angsty sonadow? But I don't know if I'd turn that fanfic into a comic. But if I made a sonadow comic, that would be the one.

Someone would need to chop off my hands to stop me from making more sonadow art (eventually)

Do each of the boys have a grandparent they latch onto most?

I think Knuckles would really bond with Maddie’s father. He’s a “warrior of nature”, which are two thinks he holds in very high regard. He’s got a MILLION stories and helps Knuckles realize the beauty in Earth’s landscape. He shows him all kinds of survival tips and with Knuckles “steely focus” and photographic memory, he becomes an avid bird watcher.

Tails connects with Tom’s mom the most. He’s the youngest of the whole lot so of course she pampers him (he is what Tom was for her). He loves the old record collection that she has and Tom’s grandfather was a hobby pilot too so there’s all kinds of memorabilia around the house from aviation school.

With Sonic, I don’t think he has one he connects with over the others. He’s just overjoyed to have an even bigger family that came with gaining parents (though he enjoys Maddie’s moms cooking the best….they all do for that matter). Maddie’s dad kind of intimidated him at first bc of his baby days. All he could see is the huge, hulking man that used to follow his trail in the forest after he’d get calls of “a small blue porcupine…or maybe a possum?” rummaging through dumpsters in town. They’re cool now though. He loves all of them too much to pick favorites🥹

this movie, y'all. I should preface this with the fact that I know next to nothing about Sonic outside of the live action universe, so a lot of my excitement comes from my limited knowledge of this franchise

Shadow is so much different than I thought he would be! Keanu did a phenomenal job voicing him imo. He made him seem a lot more like a person with actual feelings than I thought he was before I watched this. I kinda had an idea in my head that Shadow was this emo angry kid and didn't know why but this was an incredible subversion of those expectations and I'm so glad his character is the way he is!! He's so interesting to watch. His realization at the end that this definitely isn't what Maria wanted (or what he wants) was just so incredible. I loved his team up with Sonic!

Honestly the entire story of Shadow and Maria was just so devastating to watch. It's so important for how the audience views Shadow for us to see that past and how happy he was so that we can understand why he wants revenge so bad. It's so so so good and his sacrifice at the end of the movie was incredible. The fact that he was willing to give up his life to fix his mistake just says so much about who he is.

and Maria's line of how the light still shines even after the star has died was beautiful. That sentiment is just so heartwarming <3

Also I'm an "always watches the credits" girlie so YES I SAW THAT SCENE AT THE VERY END MY BOY IS ALIVEEEEEEE

and SPEAKING of credits scenes, THEY'RE MAKING ANOTHER MOVIE???? WITH AMY???? HELLO????? let's freaking go I'm so pumped

Knuckles and Tails were more of sidekicks in this movie than in the ones before, which was a tad bit disappointing. I know that with as many characters that are in this universe it can be hard to balance screen time between them all, but still. I think watching an entire show focused on Knuckles skewed my view a bit too, so that could just be my like weird warped perception throwing me off idk (and my love for Knuckles is definitely throwing me off haha)

I loooove the way Robotnik's story ended!!! He died doing something good, and I just rly like that. The closure of the plot line between him and Agent Stone was wonderful too!!

Maddie and Tom were (as always) absolute MVP's here! I love that they give the boys freedom to go do what needs to be done, but they're also always willing to get involved and help. It's wonderful I love them a lot <333

Ya'll... I just watched the new Sonic movie (Sonic 3) and I have to say... I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Me ranting about it after the cut!!

SONIC 3 SPOILERS!!

1) Okay, so, first of all. The movie was amazing. I felt so giddy and excited when I was sitting in the movie theate, just waiting for the next thing to happen.

2) I had to hold back my tears when Tom got brutally punched by Shadow, mainly at hoe Sonic reacted at that... poor boy thought he lost another parent:( I didn't want to cry in front of of my brothers. (They would've bullied me bc they always do)

2) Maria was sososososo pretty!!! I really wished that we could've seen more of the sibling dynamic between her and Shadow, but I honestly loved the relationship they had.

4) My boy Tails should've had more screen time though...💔 Along with knuckles...💔 (I understand they already had enough going on in the movie, and I think if they did what I wanted, it probably would've made the movie uncomfortably cramped)

5) TAILS LOOKED SO CUTE WITH THE HELMET ON IN THE HELECOPTER ATVTHE BEGINNING OMG⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ I mentally agreed with Agent Stone when he said Tails was adorable, because he is.

6) Honestly, kinda wished Stone and Tails built up a friendship between them. Would've been fun to see them interact more! (Again, same thing I said earlier in nr.4)

7) I actually thought about this before seeing the movie. If I remembered correctly, the movie is based of Sonic adventure 2 (I believe) And Amy Rose was the one who comforted Shadow and got him to turn from evil to good? (I THINK. I SAW A PLAY THROUGH LIKE 10 YEARS AGO, DON'T YELL AT ME😭) So, I wondered how the would go about this. Honestly, the fact that Sonic comforted Shadow was a little odd to me, but what Sonic said was sweet. Since this is the movies we're talking about, it's on brand that Sonic was comforting him, since basically every single live action Sonic movie has him comforting SOMEBODY. Honestly, I liked it.

8) And... THE WAY MR. OLD REBOTNIC (can't remember name💔) GOT KILLED!?!?!? WHAT!?!? YOU'RE TELLING ME HE FOT STABBED IN THE BUTT BY A SUPER POWERED ALIEN HEDGEHOG QUIL, GOT LUNCHED UP, AND GOT INCINERATED BY A DAMN SHEILD!?!? Woah. Imagine telling other people how you died and someone says THIS to you??? My one brother quite literally looked at me like this when that happened: "😧" (my other brother laughed his arse off)

9) And the final message Robotnic gave Stone?? Omg, you can NOT tell me they didn't have SOMETHING going on over there....

10) Finally, the end credit scene... METAL SONIC AND AMY???? ARAGARAGATSGA!!!! Sigh, Why must I wait for the 4th movie to come out... 😔 (PLEASE GIVE REVERSE SONAMY IN THE NEW MOVJE OLEASE PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE PLEA) Also, when Amy revealed herself a little boy (who had a Sonic CAPE mind you) yelled out "IT'S AMY!!!" He might be a bigger fan then me chat... (I forgot my Tails plush 😔)

11) Fun mini fact about me, I'm not much of a Shadow fan (Don't come at me) so I've never been too interested in him. However, the movie got me much more interested in him, and Shadow is now up there with the others. (Also made me feel much more for the poor boy :<)

12) Overall, the movie was literally the best one I have seen in a WHILE. Even though the movie had a lot going on, I still felt immersed in the story the whole way through. Character development was was amazing, Sonic crashing out was SO COOL??? Tails and Knuckles trying to stop him was just as amazing. Tails looking like a scared kid while Sonic and Knuckles were disagreeing tugged SO HARD onto my heart strings💔 I really recommend the movie, it was a great watch. I do however recommend watching the first two movies before watching the third one.

making a post about Tails and Belle because i honestly thought she was gonna be his new love interest, someone once told me they dont think Tails could have another one but i feel like it isn't far fetched considering they allowed Cosmo and she is kinda canon and they allowed Boom!Tails to have one as well. Tails isn't the protagonist he's a supporting role so if Rouge can have a crush on Knuckles it isn't too far out there that Belle could like Tails or Tails could have a crush on her, she is tech afterall and that peaks his interest alot about her.

Here are a lot of moments between them i thought were cute

she's a little distance about them at first, and Sonic is very protective about Tails here i love it

Belle's life is a really thought one, between getting stolen by Starline and pouring her heart out to somebody who's not even listening nor cares too much about her struggles, being disowned by Eggman, slapped by Metal sonic HER BROTHER Belle's life is really tough and i think she deserves Tails as someone in her life who will be there for her, she's got friends like Tangle,Whisper Amy others but nobody is doing it like Tails and also Vector

Idk i feel like the movie needed more time to get more things fleshed out it dosent fully feel like they got everything there

Seeing the film now i understand why Amy or anyone else couldn't be in it their just wasn't enough time

though I already knew this i just felt like complaining about it bc I was grieving the fact they took Amy's scene but since in the movie shadow doesnt lose his memories so Amy wouldn't be able to do much and helping him remember if their nothing to remember it wouldn't be impactful, i do hope they interactat some point they are a cute duo

I think more time was needed too because of Director rockwell, you saw the way she started taking charge and looking like she was gonna take over Commander Walter's place and be new leader it felt like there was gonna be more with her like a betrayal and turn over power to her making herself the leader and those could explain why commander Walter just give the key to sonic bc idk why trust him so easly WITH THE KEY TO DESTROYING THE FUCKING PLANET???

Also the fact the Donut Lord was able to just easly fool her didn't feel satisfying she gave up way to fast for someone who looked like her roles were gonna lead to something even if it was just plane hate for sonic and his friends.

Also I can see why shadow may not like tails Bro literally almost drowned him and stone and interrupted his Novela and didnt even let him eat his "Revenge Guacamole"

(The fact shadow named it that was so CUTE bc ahhh sweet boy my heart!)

Also i do like how shadow remained loyal to Gerald throughout the whole thing really shows how much he cares about the family he as left and how he was fine with dieing if it ment avenging Maria

But I find it interesting that he questions his action a bit late like dude you just now thought about that? I think it would have been better if he questions his action from the beginning but kept using the excuse that this is what Maria wanted or something like that it would given maybe a bit more build up to what Gerald says to him to make him stop questions it

Obviously their no way Maria wanted to destroy the earth even Gerald knew that yet never says it out loud just says "remember what they took from us" and that was enough for shadow to stop thinking about it

Also THE FUCKING FACT SHADOW JUST BEEN LIVING THE SAME NIGHTMARE FOR 50 YEARS HURTS ME POOR GUY

Its interesting how shadow and Maria don't have to many lines together it feels like she only talked 1 or twice and that's it i wish their was MORE OF THEM

Also i found it interesting how shadow kept mentioning during their fight that sonic became just like him when it came to revenge and how he kept mentioning that sonic left to fight him against his friends wishes it feels like he saying he shouldn't have made the choice he did kinda like saying he would have done better if he was in his position or like he should be grateful (idk that's just my view on that scene i liked it)

Also the way sonic tells shadow that the pain doesn't go away but he can change the way he views that pain and how he can remember that the love he had for her will always stay

Its sweet but didn't feel that impactful as I thought it would be the word were but idk i think they should have lingered a bit more on the scene or something it feels a bit fast paste at time.

My friend and I were joking about a sports festival episode (which would be a Shadow/Nick episode MUAHAHAHA) where someone from another school gets akumatized bc (idk what to call it, Green Hills highschool LMFAO) is OVERPOWERED???! I'm sorry they have KNUCKLES. KNUX ON HIS OWN IS INSANE and Sonic is right next to him. Insane speed + insane strength (and insane swimmer) and you have a recipe for getting PISSED OFF. anyways the akumatized person goes after Sonic because I need an excuse for a Shadow/Nick episode that emphasizes how much Shadow/Terios cared about Nick and how he would not let him out of his sight and risk him getting hurt and Nick is like "I need to transform... I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE AND HELP HIM.... but I like it when he carries me 🤭🤭🤭🤭 he should do it more🤭🤭" and it's hilarious

Also, Amy, Terios, Venice, (and maybe Sticks?) are in the gardening club and they're fun

Nick has an insane amount of gaming consoles and games and he will invite anyone over who asks about his games so they can play.

Maddie adores Terios and encourages Nick to bring him over (she sees that sad neglected dog look in his eyes and also sees how much he likes Nick and it makes her happy to see his eyes light up whenever he sees Nick.) And Stone likes Nick, he thinks he's good enrichment for Terios.

Scarlett is such a big cheerleader for Terios when they become good friends. She's like this post but platonically.

Also Scarlett has blackmailed Null to stay away from Terios bc that guy is not standing up for himself and she's not letting anyone else pick on that wet cat of a man.

Null stole Terios' bracelet (that he inherited form Maria) once and Scarlett stole it back LMAO

Scarlett def stole some item of Jewelry from Doom at one point just to prove she could to Terios LMAO.

Scarlett also befriended Terios mostly cuz he was rich but she quickly learned that this pathetic little guy is going to be her bestie right now

Nick volunteers at Vanilla's bakery and likes to run deliveries. Vanilla pays him despite his insisting she doesn't have to. Nick also babysits Cream when Amy is busy and Vanilla needs a sitter

Terios got roped into babysitting Cream one time and he had fun lmao. He really really insisted Vanilla didn't pay him (since he's rich) so Vanilla just gave him cookies as a compensation (which he gave to his Chao)

Nick and Terios share a gym class and it's so funny because they're both EXTREMELY nimble and impossible to hit during dodgeball, and it's so funny. Ppl are like "okay, Nick is in track and he used to play soccer, of course he's fit. But what the hell does Terios do." They probably see a bit of their other identity in each other which makes it a bit more exhilarating to go against each other.

Charlie and Cream are besties despite going to different schools (Charlie is in a public school and Cream is in a private school).

Either Nick or Charlie is the person to give Cream her Emerl & Gemerl action figures. Haven't decided.

Hiromi sometimes speaks his thoughts aloud in japanese bc nobody can understand him. It's a shocker when he realizes Honey is fluent in Japanese. They bond a bit over it LMAO they're friends

TERIOS VOLUNTEERS AT CAT SHELTERS and he LOVES cats. Terios/Sonic potential there.

Terios and Stone have nights where they make guac together and it's wonderful. They bond. One time Terios is trying to get away asap bc there was an emergency and Stone tries teasing to find out why he's so anxious to go, and he jokes maybe Terios is going on a date. Terios gets flustered (bc technically he's meeting up w Sonic and it makes him start overthinking and his head explodes)

Nick goes on morning runs. That's it.

Nick has an INSANE amount of stickers and keychains and decorations. He probably had given each of his friends a sticker or patch and they ALL kept them bc they all love Nick and he knows what kinda sticker they'd like.

Nick lets Miles hang out with him when out with friends and all his friends love Miles!! The baby brother, the littlest guy. They think he's actually a nice addition to the hangouts bc he's fun and sweet!!!

Terios only feels comfortable falling asleep around Stone, Sonic, Scarlett, Amy, and Nick (maybe Knux eventually once they become good friends). He doesn't like feeling vulnerable but he's comfortable with them. And I think that's important.

Nick/Sonic is the epitome of autonomy, while Terios/Shadow is like the opposite. This causes a lot of feelings to stir within Terios/Shadow because he's envious and respects how confident and free Sonic/Nick can be. He wishes he could be that strong.

Ashura and Kit are codependent. It's difficult to tell at first, because it seems like only Kit depends on Ashura, but Ashura is VERY dependent on Kit. Ashura is not in a good mental spot and Kit is one of her motivations to not give up, because she knows he depends on her.

Scarlett likes to joke Knux likes her but he's perplexed by it LMAO he's like ??? What (this man has no romantic thoughts in his head)

Terios and his Chao are ADORABLE ACTUALLY!!! if Terios is ever up too late or is doom scrolling, his Chao will bother him and make him go to bed. The good habits chao. Also his chao is very cute and cuddly and wants to hug him every time he feels upset and is so so sweet

Also an incredibly funny thing that we like to joke about is that Nick & Terios have anonymous blogs where Nick rates akumatized villains (blue_justice) and Terios either agrees or gives a meticulous response on what he'd personally rate it (ultimate_lifeform) and everyone is so invested in them. Like they wait for ultimate_lifeform's ratings for the villains bc they're so invested in them, only to get a thumbs up. Sometimes Ultimate_Lifeform reblogs cat pics.

Also, there's def fanblogs about people posting pics about the heroes bc FUN. It's so much easier to find Sonic pics (he POSES for pictures). But it's really difficult to get Shadow bc he's reserved

Also funny joke is what if Sonic decided to stream patrolling and he encounters shadow and chat goes ballistic. They get to hear them talk to each other like always and it's insane for the viewers bc SHADOW IS SO SHY he never talks much. Once Shadow realizes Sonic's recording he shuts up and keeps away from any camera. He's pissed but Sonic apologizes (not cool for recording him w/o his consent but tbh I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot he was on the air for a bit) ANYWAYS THIS AIN'T CANON BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY
