but then—and he doesn’t even know when it happens—you start to slowly grow on him. because ur actually pretty snarky urself, sometimes making a dry comment here and there about the professor and his stupid bald headed self. sometimes a girl in the distance laughs too hard a group of guys that u roll ur eyes and mumble how “if i had a voice like that i’d never laugh in public” and it makes him snort a bit without meaning to. sometimes you stare daggers at the person who has their music so loud thru their headphones they can’t help but notice u and turn it down in embarrassment. ur actually not as much of a pushover as he thought—you just genuinely think he’s too incapable to help u out that you’ve just shrugged him off and started doing his part. it’s an easy weekly lab class anyway, you don’t need him—and then he realizes that u rly just don’t care for him. his little snickers at u with his friends and their snide comments roll off ur back bc well…he’s him—an asshole little frat boy and u didn’t expect anything better from him. so it makes him a little intrigued—maybe a little wounded in his pride, deep down, because no one has ever been indifferent to him before. they’re either madly in love, or they hate his guts, or they follow his lead. either works—he still gets the attention he craves.

but u just don’t rly care. and ur actually pretty cool, and kinda sorta funny in a way no one else is. he likes it…and fuck, now he’s starting to like you. he can tell bc when his friends ask how his little date with you went, he starts getting a bit huffy ab it bc they don’t need to talk about you. they don’t even know you…but also….its not a date. and that’s the worst part. sometimes it feels like a date. almost—sometimes you both decide to take a break in between and go get a coffee or a light snack. sometimes he’s even paid (to which you look mildly shocked before politely thanking him) and you both walk back to the library while u make light banter and it’s…well, fun. and nice. and your laugh is pretty. and your smile is kinda cute and he (though he hates to admit it) rly likes it when u laugh because of him.

you don’t know which satoru is the real one, but you know that neither is worth your time. not if he can’t stick to it.

James worries he’s scared you off.

He thought you’d been having a good time the other night, hanging out with his friends and then teasing each other while he battled you for cleanup duties after. He’d certainly had a good time. There had been a moment, just before you’d gone to bed, where you’d seemed to stumble, defaulting back to the awkward, self-conscious way of speaking you’d had before you got to know each other.

James might not have thought anything of it—you still get shy sometimes, he can never figure out what causes it—except you’ve been very obviously avoiding him ever since. That next day, you went to work and then disappeared into your room straight after you got home. He told himself he was being paranoid. But yesterday, you seemingly had the day off, and every time you needed to emerge from your room James heard you dash down the stairs and back up as if your bedroom was the only safe zone in the apartment.

He hears you doing it again now, the soft click of your door unlatching before quiet footsteps start down the stairs. If Sirius were here, they’d probably make a game out of timing you, but James estimates it’s less than a minute before you start back up again. He wishes he could tell you not to hurry yourself; he has no intent of cornering you in your own home, even if he does want to patch things up.

Then something falls on the stairs with a loud thud, followed by a sharp gasp just outside James’ room, and all thoughts of giving you your space are quickly abandoned. It was a valiant effort.

“Shit,” he says as soon as he opens the door. He crouches beside you, taking your elbow in his hand, cushioning it from the cruel edge of the step, “Did you hurt yourself?”

You must have had a mean fall. You’re completely crumpled on the stairs, one of your legs curled under you and one outstretched behind you as though it’s slipped back. Both of your elbows are braced underneath your body, keeping your face from smacking into the corner of the stair. James is willing to bet that big sound he’d heard was your knee hitting the step below you as you tripped.

“Fuck,” you whine, pulling an entire loaf of bread from beneath your other elbow. The middle has been completely crushed, smashed between your forearm and the edge of a step. You look genuinely distraught about it.

“Did you hurt your knee?” James frets, fighting the urge to haul you up off the stairs so he can look you over properly. He does take your other elbow in hand, using a firm grip to encourage rather than haul. You get more or less upright.

“I’m okay.” You sound a bit odd, though he supposes you could be winded by the fall. “Thanks, sorry.”

“What are you sorry for?” James can’t help it if a bit of teasing makes its way into his voice. This is something the two of you always do, you overapologizing and him making fun of you for it. “It seems like if anyone ought to be apologizing, it should be the stairs.”

Your mouth tips up slightly. “Solid point,” you concede.

The load in James’ chest lightens at your willingness to fall back into a casual repartee. He rubs the point of your elbow distractedly. “Wanna tell me why you’re taking an entire loaf of bread to your room?” he asks, grinning. “Do you have a secret stash of sandwich-making supplies in there?”

He feels goosebumps erupt on the side of your arm, and he does his best to soothe those, too. It must be too cold in here for you. “No,” you say quietly.

“Mm. I thought we were past this, angel. Come downstairs, I’ve still got leftover pasta in the fridge.”

He starts to lead you down, but before he’s made it two steps you say, “No, thank you.”

“Oh, come off it.” James shoots you another easy grin, hoping to loosen you up. “Don’t be a martyr. I’m all for carbs, but bread by itself will hardly sustain you.”

“I don’t have much choice.” You shrug, and your shoulders stay up higher than they had been. You seem embarrassed. He waits, intrigued. “It’s sort of the only thing I can keep down at the moment.”

It takes a blink for James to understand. “Are you not feeling well?”

“Not very.” Your voice is softer than soft, swallowed up by the nerves James thought he’d earned an exemption from but nonetheless can’t hold against you in this state.

He can see it, now. The way you’re holding yourself, like you could curl up on the floor at any given moment. Your complexion is flushed and your eyes slightly unfocused, glazed.

He presses the back of his hand to your forehead.

“Oh, sweetheart.” It comes out more caring than he’d ever meant for it to, but James is too worried about you to dwell much upon that. You bat his hand away weakly, but he just moves them both to your cheeks, feeling himself frown. “You’re burning up, love. Why didn’t you say?”

“Not much to say.” You move away from his touch, backing towards your room. James pursues you, hand hovering near your elbow because you really do look like you could pass out. "It's a stomach bug. It'll pass."

“I could have been helping you if I knew. I just thought you were avoiding me,” he admits. You look so sorry he’s quick to smooth things over with a smile. “Do you need me to get you anything from the store?”

“I already went.” You slump onto your bed before seeming to realize he’s still behind you, your brows coming down. “I’ve got everything I need, but thanks.”

“You went to the store like this?” James is aghast. “You should be resting! How high is your fever?”

“Dunno.” You seem to give up uncharacteristically quickly on getting him to leave, sighing and sinking back against a propped-up pillow. “I don’t have a thermometer.”

“You don’t?” He’s more frazzled by the second, every way in which you’re not being properly taken care of piling onto the last. It seems a miracle you’re still alive.

You look suspicious. “Do you?”

Shit. He grins sheepishly. “No...”

But that doesn’t change the fact that you should, for some reason. People like James are allowed to coast through the world unprepared because responsible ones like you always have the things they need.

He feels your face again. This time, you let him. Your breath fans warm over his wrist, those fever-glazed eyes drooping slightly.

“Your hand is cold,” you say through a sigh.

“I think you’re just hot,” James mutters, but that doesn’t stop him from stroking his thumb over your cheek, just once. Your lashes flutter closed, and his heart does an impressive flip in his chest.

“Have you had paracetamol?” he asks you.

You hum. James sweeps his thumb over your cheek again, hoping to rouse you, but it only seems to worsen your drowsiness. Your head actually lolls into his touch.

“Is that a yes?”

“Mhm, yeah,” you say without opening your eyes. “You need to stop doing that, m’gonna fall asleep.”

“You should be sleeping,” he says softly. It’s impossible to keep the fondness from his voice. “I’m gonna get you a cold flannel, okay?”

Your eyelids crack open. “I don’t need you to take care of me,” you say, voice nearly slurring with sleepiness. “I’ve always done fine, by myself.”

“You never neglect to remind me.” James slips his hand from beneath your face, going to the bathroom between your bedrooms. “I don’t mind helping, though. You don’t always have to do everything on your own, what are roommates for?”

You make a quiet, breathy sound he suspects might be a laugh. “None of my other roommates were ever as nice to me as you are. I think you’re taking things beyond the requirements of the job.”

James thinks so, too. But still. Regardless of the complicated feelings he’s starting to have for you, you’ve always deserved to be treated with care.

“You mean to tell me,” he says, wringing out the flannel and going back to your room, “that if you were this poorly, none of your previous roommates would have offered to help?”

Your eyes are open more fully now. You watch him as he lays the flannel on your forehead, smoothing away a couple of baby hairs before they can get trapped underneath, with an odd expression on your face.

“I handle my own problems,” you say softly.

James’ thumb is still stroking the baby hairs at your temple. He can’t get it to stop.

“Maybe your problems could be my problems, too,” he says. The lightness of his tone is automatic, but it serves as no representation of the great and weighty feeling in his chest. He realizes his breathing has synced to yours. Quiet inhales and exhales in your quiet apartment.

Your eyes slip closed again. “Why?” you murmur.

James doesn’t have an answer for that. Not one he’s ready to think about. The lines of your face smooth out as you relax. More evidence of frowns than smiles, but he likes to think he’s made progress on the little creases fanning out from the corners of your eyes since he’s moved in. He feels a pang of triumph any time they make an appearance, little rays of sunshine on a wholly lovely face.

Because he’s your roommate. Because whether you’re ready to admit it or not, he’s your friend. Because he cares about you.

In the end, James doesn’t have to come up with an answer. You’re already asleep.

these r gonna be stream of consciousness bear w me ill keep it short bc imlazy

goro is born into the sport bc shido is like an intl tennis superstar but as with canon he dgaf about goro at all. his mom is dead too. etc. he probably never sees his dad except on tv and hes probably tossed around various boarding schools/tennis camps/etc so goro strives to become even BETTER of a player than his dad so 1) shido looks at him and acknowledges him and respects him 2) he can SURPASS him. thats his entire goal. anyway he prob shoulders huge expectations like oh thats ur dad so u must be a good player right and then those expectations he inflcits on himself.

sumire picks up tennis maybe around age 9-10 or so, when before that she did rhythmic gymnastics with kasumi. but even from an early age she was discontented by how Good kasumi was, almost intrinsically, and she had a gut feeling that made her switch tracks to tennis - also a sort of independent sport where SHE HERSELF can succeed on the court, without needing to depend on others. yet she still feels pressured by kasumi's success which gets in her way a lot. she feels determined to carve a name for herself bc THIS is the path she chose, so she better fucking make it count. those expectations on herself weigh heavily as well. in addition i think her parents literally dont gaf like if she becomes an intl superstar (not maliciously they just genuinely want sumire to be happy and dont demand success of her) but she kinda is like "wow they dont expect anything of me because im bad at it? then ill just have to become AMAZING so theyll have to be astounded" kinda thing

meanwhile akira was always a sporty/athletic kid, he doesnt have much attn from his parents so hes just doing whatever. soccer baseball basketball the works. but he picks up tennis at maybe age 13 and hes GOOD. so he immediately gets like scouted and Trained and he like improves in record time. hes real chill and relaxed about it though because he never Needed tennis the way sumire and goro do. hes just out here for fun and games literally. if he wins he wins - but the thing is, akira kurusu hates losing. thats the thing that propels him to the top.

shujin academy is still the same private school we know but they also house a tennis academy known as the shujin tennis academy yeah yeahyaeeayhah and they just train the coolest of players and the royal trio r their pride and joy etc

#1 thing I am the most curious about/eager for the series to explore is 1000% the Morningstar family, especially Lilith

Bc who even is Lilith in reality besides what we have seen her as in the eyes of the other characters

Clearest image we get of her is in their family portraits

We usually see her as the menacing mystery figure working in the background, but in these photos she's clearly a normal happy mom who genuinely loves her family as any mother/wife would. She's not just a smirking dominant figure with a hidden agenda. All she's doing is having fun with her family and has no qualms about showing a range of emotion.

Charlie sees her as the role model she takes after and wants to make her proud. It turns out she sees Lucifer in pretty much the same light, but with the addition of having an awkward relationship bc of the distance they've had. With Lilith she never speaks about her with any lingering awkwardness, so we can assume she's been a good mom raising Charlie this whole time.

(For those who are saying "Lilith is a bad mom bc who leaves their kid alone for 7 years???"- she is literally thousands of years old while Charlie is well into adulthood before those 7 years. It's like a business trip to them. She wasn't an absentee parent for leaving for 7 years out of Charlie's 200+. The thing that's weird is that she's not communicating with Charlie. Our girl deadass owns property with a job and employees. Just bc she's not great at it and is having Lucifer step in to help recently, doesn't make Lucifer the superior parent suddenly. He's confirmed to be a kind of shitty dad despite how much he cares for her by the creators themselves. Kind of the point of his introduction ep guys. The 7 years are a mystery to unpack. Chill tf out.)

In this flashback people are blaming Lilith for separating Lucifer and Charlie on purpose, seemingly as the cause of their distant relationship. But it feels more complicated than that, based off Lucifer's reaction.

He's sad reaching out to Charlie by the end of the flashback, but when Lilith first appears he's smiling all the same and not deterred in giving Charlie to Lilith to carry away for what reason we don't know. A normal, standard occurrence he's used to. It seems both parents have agreed it's best for Lilith to take Charlie at this age now, for whatever reason.

Was his mental health affecting his parenting too much so they decided Lilith would shoulder the bulk of the task? Maybe Lilith really did separate the two somehow for her own reasons and convinced Lucifer with it? Another mystery reason each parent agree on?

When exactly did both of them separate? When Charlie was already an adult or around the time of the flashback when Lilith was her primary caretaker as a kid? (I'm assuming adulthood since Lucifer and Lilith seemed to still be getting along in the flashback despite her emotionless face.) Why did they separate when Lucifer seems to clearly love and yearn for her all the same, still wearing his wedding ring? 😭😭😭

And ofc what is this deal she made with Adam to stay chillin on a beach in heaven, and why did Adam, a reckless narcissist who likes yappin to whoever is gonna listen, not ever reveal this fact to her family to the very end?

There is just so much to unpack with their family and Lilith is the key ingredient rn to unlocking it

Like ofc I'm looking forward to Sir Pentious in heaven, Alastor's deal, the future of the rebuilt hotel, Lucifer now being a seemingly main character in season 2, etc.

additional fun for my dorky ass twibra au... twilight's friends mimic the elements of harmony in a way that reflects the magic of their pony selves (bc I said so lmao) and it's what brings her back from the brink after principal cinch grenade tosses her little magical collector in her face and blasts her with equestrian magic

details:

Chrysalis represents generosity specifically because of how she's selfish on behalf of her friends. she's absolutely willing to dupe other people and manipulate them if she thinks it'll help out anyone in the squad, even if the fallout could be cataclysmic. This has led to a really bad reputation following her around, and though its not really unprecedented, her friends still keep her around as she means well. It's a bit hard training her out of fawning over other people to try and make them stay, but she just wants everyone well-fed and happy.

Stygian has the loyalty blessing because he's the real ride or die. He would rather physically staple himself to his friends than possibly lose them, especially since he was subject to losing a friend group in the past which left him deserted at a really bad time. Meeting Tempest around that time was the only thing that kept him going, and now he's fiercely protective of his new friend group.

Spike is laughter because I love him. puppy power

Tempest gets honesty because she's extremely blunt, even though sometimes its to the point of insulting, she genuinely just wants communication to be established at any cost. Her straightforward attitude is very effective at stopping Chryssie's schemes and keeping Stygian grounded, and she doesn't mind being an anchor for the team, especially since she used to be team captain on her volleyball team before she lost her arm. The sense of "these people need me" helps anchor her as much as it anchors them.

Sombra can be exceedingly kind, showering people in gifts and lavish trips, assisting them in whatever programs they're in, and he's more than willing to put the effort in and sacrifice things of his own if it means his friends will benefit from it - but it stops there. His kindness is wonderful only to those in his close circle, and most importantly, to Twilight.

though their dynamic sometimes isn't the healthiest, they're all recovering from friendship issues of their own - some done to them, some because of what THEY did to others - and Twilight's the precious sun they seem to rotate around, as being a shut-in only focusing on her studies has given her zero inclination to have any sort of preconceived notions of other people. For friends with a bad past they're trying to work through, its incredibly refreshing, and they would rather die than lose her.

even more additional details:

Sombra collects pretty minerals, and wears a lot of jewelry as a result. He often compares Twilight to precious stones and seems smug about dating her.

Tempest and Stygian are room mates, but they're not dating, sharing a purely platonic relationship. (Stygian is gay and Tempest is a lesbian. they're each other's beards, basically)

Chryssie lives in an apartment Sombra pays the rent to, but only under the agreement that she stop dating people just to raid their houses. It's worked so far, at least according to CCTV footage

once the magic Twilight absorbed disperses into the team, giving them magic, Spike gets dragon attributes along with being able to talk. This means sometimes he eats Sombra's fancy gemstones and there's absolutely nothing he can do about it because if he yells at his gf's dog/little brother he'll get smacked. Sombra is in hell but everyone else loves it

Byakuya

When you're jealous:

Thinks you're being ridiculous, calls you ridiculous

He thinks there is no reason for you to be jealous, when you're the only person he actually doesn't mind being around Plus isn't it kind of impressive how he can separate the world from Byakuya and not Byakuya

He's does love you but that doesn't mean he won't keep his mouth shut, like start insulting you lightly tho bc he don't wanna hurt your feeling that much and questioning if you trust him when it comes to others and this relationship so have to explain to him that it wasn't him you didn't trust, it was the person he was around

Asks who your jealous of so he can distant himself from that person so you don't have to be jealous anymore but won't tell you that part

IF you're jealous of Toko, he'll be bewildered like HOW and WHY!? He thought it was pretty clear he disliked being around her so why are you feeling that way!? You better have a good reasoning, Since Toko/Jack does follow him wherever he goes. To keep you from feeling that way again, He'll bring you with him every time Toko comes around

I don't think he'll understand it at first but give him a few minutes, then he'll understand it then hate it and blames it all on you.

If you ignore his excuse and continue hanging around the person he'll join as well despite whether it's a private conversation or not and would gladly argue if one of you have an issue with it

I feel like when Byakuya is jealous, he would obviously not tell you that he's jealous but try to give you reason on why you should stop seeing that person and will constantly be around you more than usual and if you question it he'll question you back asking if he can't be around his lover

You'll have to found out on your on that he's jealous and when you confront him about it, he'll at first try to deny it then try to explain it in a way so he doesn't sound jealous but instead it makes him sound like he's needy so then he'll just agree and tell you he's jealous but would be arrogant about it and tell you it's your fault for not being considerate about his feelings but he's just being a bit petty

You'll have to distant yourself from that person so he doesn't have to feel that way anymore

Nagito

When you're jealous:

He thinks it’s his fault why you feel this way.

Would apologize and tell you that he’s the worst for making you feel such a thing and would continuously insult himself while saying he’s even unworthy of being in your presence

You have to tell him he’s not the problem and it’s just you, yourself feeling this way against the person he’s hanging around

I feel like he wouldn’t really know what to do with your jealousy because despite what you said he still feels like it’s his fault for making you feel such a thing. So he would would ask if you want him to stop hanging around the person all together and he’ll do it gladly

He’ll literally start bashing you with compliments. He doesn’t want you to feel as if he’ll ever leave you since you’re genuinely one of the only people who would put up with him and the only single person who would actually surprisingly to him feels a romantic way about him

You would have to tell him that you don’t want him to lose a friend just because you’re feeling this way so since he doesn’t really not what to do other than comfort you and tell you you’re the only one for him and that you're his main hope in the world, he’ll distant himself from the person just for you

When he's jealous:

Wouldn’t tell you, feels as if he’s bothering you if he did tell you and thinks he should be grateful for the fact someone like you even looked his way

So basically in other words, you gotta find out on your own man. I feel like he’s the type to watch you and that other person talking from afar and if both of you look his way he’ll just smile casually and wave as if he wasn’t just debating whether to speak with you or leave the room

Despite all this I feel like he’s the type to distant himself from you rather than having to ask you to distant yourself from the person and wouldn’t actually discuss his feelings with you since he would feel like he’s bothering you.

So you had to pull him away in private and discuss with him about it, he’ll start apologizing and would feel bad for making you even waste your time discussing this topic with a “worthless trash” his words like himself.

I feel like he might be little toxic and just wants to see your reaction at times so he would purposely ignore you at time and give more attention to the person your jealous of just to see your reaction and would feel smug about it. But he swore he only done that only ONE Five TIMES

He does secretly thinks you being jealous is really cute and funny but would only mention the funny part. Would straight up make you confess why you’re jealous then he ends up fake pouting and asking if you don’t trust him with other people

Even if you do try to explain how you do trust him and it’s just the person, he already knows that and just wants to mess with you a bit

Exaggerated over the whole thing and tries to make you look like your in the wrong but you both know it’s just an act Would fake cry if you called him out on his act too early and would say you’re being mean to him

After once he’s finally done having his fun, he’ll try to comfort you while teasing you at the same time and would just tell you he won’t leave you unless you leave first or would tell he’s the most loyalist and truthful person to ever exist in your life Obviously a lie

Wouldn’t tell you, wouldn’t even let you know. And if you do find out, he’ll continuously deny it and starts throwing random subjects just to change the topic

I feel like he’s the type to want more of your attention when he’s jealous, like he’ll be more teasing and bothering you more especially if you’re with the specific person he’s jealous of.

He’ll quite literally pop out of nowhere and bother you guys regardless whether he’s annoying you or not

He would fake cry and fake pout more than usual if you’re barely giving him any attention so he’ll do that just to get your attention

He’ll probably be more insulting/making fun of the person he’s jealous of even in front of you at times so you can realize how much of a annoying loser the person is and hang out with him instead

If you do defend the person at times from his insults, he’ll be secretly annoyed and gets more jealous but just acts it off and fake pouts at you

Once you do find out about his jealousy at this point he won’t even deny anymore and purposely over exaggerate with fake tears and fake pouts and say that you been knew about his feelings and was “purposely” trying to make him feel even worse

Even if you deny it, he knows you wouldn’t do that and just wants a reaction so for his sake every-time you hang around the person, you take him with you and slightly distant yourself from the person a bit

When you're jealous:

Once you tell him, he would specifically like to know what he’s doing with the person that is making you jealous so when he hangs out with other people he doesn’t do it again so you won’t jealous anymore

He thinks that you being jealous is really cute and lightly tease you about it but he does take your feelings seriously and would actually do something so you won’t feel that way again

He wouldn’t really distant himself from the person but would spend more time with you just to reassure you that he wants you and only you and not that person

He take you out on dates or bring you out to one of his travels or just you and him hanging you in general.

He’s not really the one to start PDA but doesn’t really mind it but if it’s for making you feel better and reassuring you and if you don’t mind as well then he’ll try to hold your hand or put hand arm around you a couple of times

But if you do want him to distant himself from the person regardless of the fact he’s spending more time with you. He wouldn’t really understand at first and questions you a bit but if it makes you feel better he’ll do it, but he won’t distant himself from the person for that long since he considers them as a friend

He’ll probably tell the person about your jealousy so they won’t think he’s purposely wanting to get away from them

When he's jealous:

He wouldn’t even notice that he’s was jealous, he’ll probably assume that he’s upset with the person for no reason and look past it since he isn’t the type to jump to conclusions

I think it’ll take like 2 days or less for him to realize that he’s jealous, like how to took him to bit to realize when he was gaining feelings for you.

So once he finally gets that he’s jealous, he wouldn’t really know what to do and would assume that the feelings would go away on its own. But at first He’ll try to be in most not every conversations you and that person and would feel slightly annoyed if you and that person hug at times.

He won’t beat around the bush about his feelings or keep it hidden away. So once his feelings goes a bit too high for his liking, he went and talked to you about it

He was glad that you were understanding and he didn’t want you to distant yourself from the person but you did it anyways just for him. He can’t help but wonder how lucky he is for you at times

Hajime

When you're jealous:

When you told him that you were jealous, he thought it was really cute at first but was also worried because he didn’t want you to feel that way

At first he wanted to make sure that he wasn’t the problem so he asked you if you trusted him with hanging out with others and you had to reassure him you did trust him and it was just the person he was hanging around

He would feel somewhat responsible if you been feeling this way for a while now and hasn’t said anything till now, so he’ll try to make it up to you by spending more time with you than with the other person

He even apologized once for not noticing your feelings sooner but you told him he didn’t need to apologize and it was just you feeling that way with that person

Would distance himself from that person. But if it’s Chiaki that you’re jealous of, he can kind of understand why since him and her spend quite a lot of time together and she usually tags along with the both of you during hangouts so he would talk to Chiaki first about it and she’ll obviously be understanding about it

She even went over to you and decided to let you know that she has no romantic feelings for Hajime and it’s only platonic. She thinks you and Hajime are a great couple and doesn’t want to get in between of that

He would reassure you and plan hangouts with you more than you guys often do just to make sure you know that he only loves you and only wants you

When he's jealous:

He realized his feelings right away and was so embarrassed about it and didn’t want you to know or find out. It’s not that he doesn’t like communicating with you it’s just he finds it a bit embarrassing being vulnerable in front of you at times so he’ll keep his mouth shut about his jealousy.

I think Hajime is the type to be a bit insecure when he’s jealous and wants to show you off more and impress you. Because unlike you, Hajime isn’t a ultimate and is just a reserve course and if it’s an ultimate he’s jealous of he would feel even more insecure because he would think they are quite obviously better than him and doesn’t want you leaving him for them.

First he would try to show you off a bit, and do more PDA if you’re fine with it ofc like holding your hand in public more or putting his arm around you more and hugging you Maybe kissing if you’re at that stage in the relationship would def do more PDA If the person he is jealous of happens to be in the same room

He doesn’t want to be that insecure of himself so he’ll talk with Chiaki and she should tell him to discuss his feelings with you but he told her how he didn’t want to result to that yet and instead she gave him a different kind of advice and that’s to win you over like a video game, despite the fact you’re already his

He’ll tried to impress you with his video game skills, like when all three of you are hanging out Chiaki would purposely like Hajime beat her in the video game just to impress you but you had a feeling something was up because Hajime never beat Chiaki in a video game before so why is suddenly beating her now?

You asked for some privacy with him and Chiaki left the room so you can talk with him alone, you started questioning him and he didn’t want to lie to you so he confessed about his jealousy and you went straight away and reassured him

You had to let him know that wouldn’t leave him even if he’s a reserve course and you’re not, you’re not going to leave him over something as silly as that. And told him he doesn’t need to impress you or win you over or anything because you’re already his

He was slightly flustered and embarrassed about your words but nonetheless he would feel grateful for you and your words as you hugged him. Maybe a small cuddle session but it was cut short because Chiaki came back in and he got embarrassed and moved away from you.

You guys went back to playing video games and Chiaki went back to constantly beating Hajime and you in the video games but we ain’t gonna talk about that

He didn’t need to ask you and you already put a distance with the person he was jealous of. Bro never felt so happy and in love with you in one single day

I feel like a lot of people ignore Mariana's role in Sherlock and Co. I understand that the bond between Sherlock and Watson is a heavy focus in the original acd books, but Sherlock and Co is it's own thing. Mrs Hudson may not have played a large role in the books, but in Sherlock and Co she is one of the main characters. Ignoring her prominent role in their dynamic just so you can focus on Watson and Sherlock's dynamic is strange. You can still talk about their dynamic without ignoring one of the main characters. In Sherlock and Co I have always seen them all three as being like a family. Regardless of how you percieve their relationship, you cannot ignore the fact that Marianna is important to both of them. People shit on those who ship John and Mariana bc it "gets in the way of sherlock and watson" but that is such a stupid reason to hate a character. People can ship Watson with whoever they want. It isn't hurting anyone to have people ship him with Mariana.

Watson has a very lovely dymamic with both Sherlock and Mariana. I've seen people genuinely angry to see the podcast focus on Mariana and Watson for even a second. Sherlock and Watson have also had many one on one interactions. They've had a lot of focus on their dynamic and how it is built throughout the podcast. People being mad that Mariana also gets those growth opportunities despite her also being a main character is WILD. A man and woman can be platonic friends without being a threat to the "main ship" This reminds me of what happened to Mary in bbc sherlock. While I agree that Mary is a poorly written character, people give her way too much hate. Hating a character is fine, but hating a character just because she "gets in the way" of your ship is dumb. I don't like Mary in bbc sherlock. I think her being a spy was weird. Her death was only there to kickstart sherlock and watson's discord and I think that is a stupid reason to kill off a main character. It had no proper impact to the story and she only existed to contrast with Sherlock. Those are valid reason to hate her, but I don't just ignore her existance. She was still a part of the bbc sherlock canon regardless of how buchered her implimentation was. Mariana is a fun character and a lovely addition to sherlock and co. She has been given the same if not less focus than Sherlock and people still rarely include her in fan content. Yes Sherlock and Watson have a very interesting dynamic but I'd love to see more love for Marianna. She is a part of their family. Regarldess of if you see the dynamics between characters as romantic or platonic Marianna is still an important person to both Sherlock and Watson and I would love to see more of her. She is like the "straight man" of their dynamic. She handles the business aspect of their organization. She canonically eats with them at 221b very often. So much so that she doesn't even have a dining table in her flat. I love seeing different interpretations of her design. She is such a fun character and her personality flows very nicely with the others. Tldr I want to see more love for Mariana, and people who hate her unjustly get on my nerves lol. You can ship two characters without ignoring or hating on the girl character.

"My.."

Shinobu blinks at the sound that entered her ears. The triplets' laughter echoed throughout the huge estate and she was ecstatic to hear so. Typically, it would be the groans of injured slayers, blood and misery resulted by vicious demons and she was glad, for once, that the noise came from something so pure and positive.

As she rounded a corner, a sight welcomed her. The three girls happily circled an individual she didn't recognize.

A smile, an actual genuine one she couldn't hold, stretched her lips seeing the innocent interaction.

"[Name]-san! [Name]-san, did you save the kitty?" Naho spoke out, giddy on her place with both Sumi and Kiyo nodding their heads.

The female, who was notably lacking the uniform to identify what specific employment she's in, simply raised her arm to flex. A smug expression on her face, "Of course! Climbing the tree was easy enough. Kitties are usually unfriendly when in distress but if you remain calm, they will too!"

Shinobu couldn't help but giggle hearing the declaration and she was instantly discovered, seeing how four heads snapped her way.

"Shinobu-sama!" She smiled and patted the girls' head respectively when they came crashing towards her.

"Good afternoon, girls. I didn't interrupt, did I?" Kiyo immediately shook her head, "Of course not, Shinobu-sama! We were just chatting with [Name]-san. She was looking for you but you were away an hour ago, so.."

"Oh!" Shinobu averts her attention to the oddly quiet woman and sees her frozen in place.

"My apologies, I didn't make you wait too long did I?"

Suddenly, this made you quickly stand up on your spot. A flushed red tint, one Shinobu assumes to be embarrassment, entirely covers your (s/c) skin. You bowed, "You did not, K-Kocho-sama!"

You fully straighten yourself afterwards, rather stiffly. "If anything, I should be the one apologizing for my sudden disrupt appearance.."

Shinobu tilts her head as you take a deep breath, "M-My crow was left injured and unable to deliver the letter but Master insisted to talk to you personally, so.."

"Oh my, that's unfortunate," She claps her hands but the sight of you flinching due to it confused her, "..but if that's the case please don't fret. It must be urgent if it was Master himself that said so. We can have tea in my office?"

"Y-Yes!"

"I see.." Shinobu spoke as she brews her tea, seemingly in deep thought. Truly your story was unfortunate.

"Oh uh, yes. I may not look like it.. but my sister was a healer back in my village. Although, she wasn't a professional, I learned a lot from her. She treated the others in our village until no one could treat herself. Although, in the end it was all futile because of the demons.. Still, I respect her as a doctor."

Shinobu smiles at your words, she sets down her tea aside before facing you. "And you too, are respectable, [Name]-san. I appreciate your act of wanting to help out."

You perk at the mention of your name, the existing blush worsening on your face. "Ye-Yes! Thank you, Kocho-sama!" Then you deflated on your seat, "But.. no pressure of course! I could be a kakushi if you don't want me here as a helper. I originally wanted to be a demon slayer but.."

Shinobu watches as you frown, looking down at your bandaged palms. "..Master recommended the opposite. Although my months of training would be a waste, I think he's right that my path isn't for demon slaying."

Shinobu hums, staring at how you stiffen on your seat when your eyes catches hers. You've been doing that a lot the time the two of you were conversing.

".. You're a great person, [Name]-san. Seeing how you've already bonded with our girls, it's safe to say that you belong here, in the Butterfly Estate, with us."

And seeing the teary eyed look on your face, she pulls you in a short hug. She feels your head nod.

"Thank you, Kocho-sama.."

She hoped you wouldn't be uncomfortable around her anymore.

The weeks passed, months later on and Shinobu wasn't wrong on her judgement. You really did fit with the Butterfly girls, as if you've been here for so long and she couldn't be more happy.

You're friendly, warm and passionate. An earnest person she couldn't help but adore.

You fit perfectly with the triplets, interactions often than not leading to a hearty conversation about your journey. With Aoi, you complimented her brooding personality. A, "Lighten up, Aoi!" leaving your lips everytime she kicks out you for stealing food. With Kanao too, who you often converse with. Albeit, one-sidedly but that didn't seem to dull you at all, it motivated you to talk more even.

With your lively presence, you absolutely lightened up the already hearty estate. Laughs and shouts often echoing and the burden of chores were lessened as well. You were helpful and more than eager to do chores for other people. And she could see the girls, herself included, appreciated you a lot.

That said, it isn't the same with Shinobu at all.

"U-uh!? Kocho-sama, I-I'll take care of it!"

"O-Oh, uhm. I suppose you're right. H-Have a nice day, Kocho-sama!"

Like at all.

Did she do something wrong? Everytime you were talking to someone else, you seemed like yourself. Happy go lucky, loud and bold.

And yet, everytime Shinobu appears near you, all your personality is thrown against the wall and all left is a timid, soft spoken person and this frustratingly bothers her to no end.

She did find this odd side of you cute, if it wasn't for the possibility that this is your way of being uncomfortable around her.

She takes notes that with authority, one could appear intimidating but she makes out herself anything but that. And this theory is debunked when..

"Kyah!! [Name]-chan!!"

The thuds of familiar footsteps were difficult to ignore, much less the squeal she could clearly hear and recognize.

It suprised her how you were particularly close to her fellow Hashira.

"Mitsuri-san?"

The sight of the strong and beautiful Love Hashira hugging you tightly, your feet dangling on the air, weirdly irritated Shinobu. Maybe she just didn't like her workers in an uncomfortable place?

"Wahh, Mitsuri! How have you been!" The wide smile on your face as you hugged the woman back is definitely far from uncomfortable though.

A vein popped out of Shinobu's forehead.

Mitsuri, who plants you back on the ground turns around feeling Shinobu's presence. She, bless her heart, visibly brightens up at the sight of the smaller woman and runs up to hug her as well.

"It's been so long, Shinobu-chan!!" The dark aura around Shinobu scattered, sweatdropping at her friend's tight hold. "Yes, yes it's been a while." Mitsuri finally lets go of her while the purple eyed woman scans her being.

"Are you badly injured?" The question seems to bring Mitsuri to reality as almost immediately, tears swell up her eyes. She took both, you and Shinobu's hand, with her left hand and held you both as she cried out in pain.

"Wahh.. this mean demon definitely purposely made me fall! I thought I already beheaded him but! but! suddenly I fell to the ground and broke my armmm!!!" She whines loudly and Shinobu hums seeing the poorly done makeshift cast.

Mitsuri pulls you closer, "[Name]-chaaaannn, I missed you so much! You were always there to patch me up everytimeee!!"

This definitely took Shinobu's attention, she tilts her head with a smile. "Ah?"

You, who were consoling Mitsuri heard Shinobu say. Sweatdropping you explain, "Uh, my trainer's estate was close to Mitsuri's and uh- we became friends. She gets bad cuts often."

Shinobu simply hums in understanding. She watches as you reassure the Hashira that you will help and make her an actual cast.

And suddenly, for some odd reason, she goes on her day absolutely irked.

You jog into the kitchen, clearly tired. Consoling Mitsuri is usually easy enough but not when there's other whining patients as well. You sigh as you slip inside, before smiling at the variety of delicious food.

You salivated on the spot and just as you were about to secretly take something- Aoi, who was always there, spoke out. "Do you want to wash the dishes for five hours straight again?"

"Aoi-chaaannn, stop being so mean!!" You whine with a teasing smile.

She loudly sighs and gives you a plate of brewed tea. "You'll have your lunch only if, you deliver this to Shinobu-sama first. Be polite, she was somehow mad the whole day."

You felt your legs seemingly transform into jelly and that hot, familiar feeling settle itself in your stomach unwillingly. Heat and blood transfers into your neck and ears at the mere mention of her name.

"A-Aoi! I-I- the girls should be able to easily do it! Why me?!"

Aoi raises a brow before scowling, "Because you're an idiot! Stop acting pathetic and move on from your crush on Shinobu-sama if you're not gonna act on it!"

"Guh!" You spit out blood hearing her harsh words. Setting the tea aside, you quickly try covering her mouth to shush her. "Stop! Someone could hear you!"

She rolls her eyes and push you away, "As if anyone with a brain can't see that you practically fall on your knees around her."

"Aoi!" You tremble at the thought of anyone, Shinobu out of all people, hearing Aoi's loud declaration.

"Just go! Or no lunch today!"

She kicks you out of the kitchen and you sniff, you can't do this! You don't even know where Shinobu is!

"She's in her room, by the way!"

And with Aoi's last shout, you wanted to bury yourself alive.

Her room! Not the office, nor the engawa she's usually on- Her private room! No, you'll fucking die before you can even knock on her door! Actually, you'd very much prefer to die.

Alas, the rumble in your stomach was too hard to ignore. This could go smoothly if you just.. be calm. Yes, exactly. Just knock, greet, then leave.

Yes.

So easy.

Knock, greet, leave.

You fasten your pace until you were standing in front of her room. The plate on hand trembling alongside your sweating arms.

Knock, greet, leave.

Quick! Raise your arm!

Shinobu suddenly appears. "Oh, [Name]. Good afternoon, do you need something?"

"KNOCK." You hand her the plate.

"GREET." You bow before-

"LEAVE." You immediately ran out of her way.

Shinobu watches this all with widen eyes. She calmly places the plate down, a dark smile on her face before she, herself, runs towards the direction you went to.

"Fufu, let's see if you could run away from me this time, [Name]."

You huff and pant, clinging onto the roof of one of the warehouses. You absolutely bombed that simple task! How the hell are you gonna face her now!?

"I'm gonna kill myself.." You mutter as you hugged yourself.

"Oh my, I'm not gonna approve that, my dear~!"

"Huh?" You blankly stare at the fluttering familiar haori as someone's feet landed in front of you.

"Am I hallucinating?" Shinobu giggles, taking your arm before you could escape as you squeak at her hold.

"Ko-Kocho-sama-"

She leans closer to your head, your face erupting into different shades of red but Shinobu ignores this and stares at you. "[Name].."

Your breath hitch.

You know she's waiting for your response. So, you gulp and answer with your trembling voice. "..yes, Kocho-sama?"

"Be frank with me, will you? Why.." You follow the movement of her fingers as it sets itself on your cheek, tapping it.

"Y-Yes?"

You basically melt at her touch when you hear her giggle.

"Why are you always avoiding me, hm?"

Your brain froze and seemingly got clogged. Inwardly, you prayed to whatever existing god to kill you via heart attack in this exact moment.

Actually, with the most breathtaking girl cradling you? That might just be possible.

Not wanting to make her wait, you respond. "I-I don't.. know what you're talking about!!" Your widened eyes look away as you spoke.

You hear her purr and take you by your chin, forcing you to make eye contact. Her purple eyes makes your stomach drop and heart skip.

"Didn't I tell you to be frank with me? It's an order from the head of the house!" She chirps and leans closer, her breath warmed your steaming face as you finally gave in.

"Pretty.."

Shinobu blinks, tilting her head and leaning away. She watch as you cover your face between your hands.

"You're too pretty to face, Shinobu-sama!"

Shinobu's own face and neck heat up at your words. "What?" She couldn't believe what nonsense you were saying.

You peek out of your fingers shyly, "You're so pretty.. everytime I'm around you, I can't seem to think of a singular coherent sentence. It's absolutely embarrassing.."

"Eh?" Shinobu feels the warmth creep up more.

"I-I'm sorry if it seemed like I was avoiding you! I wanted to keep a strict relationship with you because it felt like I was taking advantage of your kind gestures!"

You sigh, fists forming itself. "I understand if you don't want to talk to me now. I know, It's especially weird since we're both girls-" You look up at her and stiffen seeing the bewildered plus flushed look on her.

"Ko-Kocho-sama-!?"

Shinobu raises her hand, successfully shushing you. She looks everywhere but your eyes and for the first time, you see her usually chirpy and sometimes flirty demeanor take a shift.

"How about we.. start fresh.."

She looks up at you and your heart beats faster. "..with tea, perhaps?"

Blinking, you pinch yourself to see if this is all just an absurd dream and yet it wasn't. It absolutely wasn't.

Not wanting to make her wait than you already made her, you nodded with a shy smile.

"I'd love that."

it was your first time sparring, and you went straight to him???

he’d rather watch you spar and give you tips, but the way you’re begging him to do it with you is swaying him

he’s so tense and worried he might hurt you but with your assurances he’s willing

he does it in more of a private setting, but he still makes notes on your techniques, strength, agility

gives you little tips if you’re dealing with larger opponents

at one point he had you trapped and he will never admit the way you let out a breathy giggle and struggled in his grasp made him fluster behind his mask

is all impressed if you manage to beat him, but on the inside he was going easy on you

ofc you find out after watching him spar with johnny and you’re like “why are you holding back with me???” and he admits he’s just scared he’ll hurt you

when you two are in private afterwards he’ll give you a soft kiss

at the end of the day, he’d rather watch you train rather than partake, he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he hurt you, even in a controlled setting

johnny

unlike his lieutenant, he’s into play fighting with you, so he’s all the way down to spar

ofc he knows sparring is training for you guys and not like a sport, but he still thinks it’s fun and wants you to enjoy it too

he won’t hit hard, he’s a gentleman, and he pretty much always lets you win even though he shouldn’t bc it’s meant to be a fair fight

his old partner in sparring was gaz, but now he has you and he’s actually really enjoying being able to spend extra time with you

the two of you make little jokes to each other as well as trash talk each other, but at the end of the session you’ll hug and be like “you did great :)”

he’s got amazing sportsmanship, so if you genuinely beat him when he’s trying he’ll congratulate you and offer to get you a drink

nope.

he’s a big boy with anxiety, he’s terrified of hurting you and (unlike simon) he will voice his concerns to you

it will take A LOT of convincing

he stays on the defensive and sometimes never even lands a blow on you, which leads to him getting scolded

you will have to sit down with him and state that you’re not made of glass and that you’ll be fine, so he eases up and genuinely spars with you

however… he got a bit carried away with adrenaline, and he pinned you in a way that pulled a muscle in your shoulder

apologies. all the time, even after your muscle heals

please assure him everything’s okay bc he will genuinely start crying as if you hate him now 😭

it will take him a while to start training with you again, and this time he’s more aware of his strength and keeps you from genuine harm

like johnny, he’s very sportsmanlike so if you beat him he’ll smile and kiss your forehead with some muttered congratulations in german

treats you to lunch afterwards all the time, bc he loves training in the morning, and will chat about techniques to help you out considering you’re still a rookie

contrary to people’s beliefs, he’s quite a chatty partner when he gets to know you, and will happily give you tips and tricks

gaz

yay! you’re both close in age! you both immediately click together. you’re like best friends

loves sparring with you, it’s his favourite activity when on base with you

it looks like the two of you are play fighting most of the time, but tbh kyle just wants to have fun with you whilst also working with you

you both need tips from price, who happily gives them, then observes as the two of you try to use them

you both get really competitive so it takes a while for anyone to tap out

i hc that gaz is into wrestling, so he’ll definitely imitate an announcer to make you laugh and hopefully catch you off guard

loves getting you in a headlock but never hurts you, as much as a goofball he is he’s very aware

if he manages to trap you under him he makes a few jokes in a low tone and steals a kiss

his eyes will always be slightly flirty, and he will 100% flirt between jokes

11/10 amazing partner in general

alejandro

immediately agrees, and because he’s been serving for a long time, he takes on the role of teaching you about sparring

always praises you, loves praising you for every little thing

he’s totally not using this as an excuse to be close to you

at one point in time he had you stuck in his grasp and the way he whispers to you is just 😩

(he definitely knows you’re weak for his voice and uses it to tease you)

no matter what happens in training, even if you’re the one who taps out, he will kiss your forehead and say that he’s proud of you

he’s another one that’s extremely aware of how much strength he’s using, but he won’t hesitate to be a little more forceful with you

you need to learn somehow

if you try to kiss him to distract him he’ll chuckle and ease up before getting back to training

he’s such a good teacher that when you’re not training with him you’re winning most of the time against other opponents

he’s so proud :,)

rudy

this poor boy is such a soft lover, so the idea of accidentally hurting you is always in the back of his mind

tries to go slow, but sometimes he doesn’t remember his strength and immediately backs out if you let out a small pained noise

hugs you after bc he feels bad

he’s skittish, but overall a good training partner once you two have a talk

uses techniques that alejandro taught him, and tried teaching them to you

he’s not an amazing teacher though…

still praises you

he’s quite young too, but he’s been serving longer so he’s meant to be able to teach you things

however… he still has a lot to learn, so sparring is a learning experience for both of you

wont admit it, but he gets a little jealous when you train with other people

cuddles 100%, cuddling is mandatory after training

if your muscles are strained he’ll give you a massage too bc he’s such a sweetheart

will 100% tell you to go rough with him bc it’s still you learning as a rookie, but if you don’t want to he understands

he just wants you to succeed :)

this papa bear is the one who offered to train with you

he saw you and gaz mucking about and decided to mentor you, much like alejandro he’s your teacher

gives you genuinely good advice and tips on how to break out of someone’s grasp and take them down

wont go soft on you, but he won’t go too hard either

he knows your limits and adapts around them, therefore he’s a really good teacher

will always assure you that backing down is okay, there’s nothing to kick yourself over

there’s no chance he’d ever actually hurt you, he’s confident in his abilities and knows his strength and limits

however, he can get too rough if you’re seemingly fine, he’s just trying to test you.

if you’re being quiet about him being a little too rough he’ll sense somethings up and encourages you to talk, sparring is meant to be affective and good for both people involved, it’s training after all

will apologise if he accidentally hurt you without realising, even if it’s just a minor bruise

always aspires to get you to the best of the best, wants to watch you rise in ranks because he knows you have what it takes to be an amazing soldier

he’s so good at sparring and enjoys it so much that sometimes it doesn’t even feel like training and wants you to feel the same way, he’ll help as best he can
