My issue with Thor not ‘realizing’ why Loki was acting off in Avengers 1 isn’t that Thor didn’t recognise Loki was acting unlike himself—Thor did note that—or that Thor didn’t figure out what was wrong—he did try asking—it’s more along the lines of Thor giving up, and that he accepted Loki was bad now within two days while knowing something was off when Thor himself behaved just as bad for much longer before without any specific compromising event.

i'll be SO honest i wish i had like. insightful interesting opinions on them but i've always been a Young Justice kid and sort of. breezed past consuming Fab Five Teen Titans content-

but of what i *do* know, from the few comics i've read with these characters is this is one of the best ships for Dick, honestly. it always deeply annoys me when fanon content breezes past the Titans as if they're just some distant teammates and not some of Dick's closest friends, if not a second family. *especially* the Fab Five. for most, if not all of them, it's the first time getting to actually connect with other teen heroes. so there's something fun about how sort of terrible they are at it, at first. they all care about each other a lot. but they're kind of chucked into the deep figuring out how to work with each other and get along with *very* different personalities, so it's fun to see where the conflict comes.

as a ship, i do really love it. the Titans are a family. like we call a lot of teams found families, but for the Fab Five, that shit is the truest. they depend on each other and trust each other. when Dick and Bruce are on outs and Bruce fires him, he goes to the Titans.

i also enjoy how, to an extent, all of them are outsiders of some kind. Donna is alone in a new world she's never experienced, the same as Garth. Roy is still new and awkward to living the rich life with Oliver. Wally doesn't connect to his parents well. and of course, Dick has lost his parents and only has Bruce, who isn't the most emotionally available. of course they're going to cling to each other, as the first people they can really develop connections too. they're very clingy with each other and i think that's both cute and *fun* to explore like, codependency issues with them. how protective they can be of each other, how they default to trusting each other over their mentors, etc. it's all very interesting for a polycule, especially since for most of them, it's their first real relationship. i'm a big fan of "none of us know what dating looks like bc we've had such strange childhoods so we don't understand the Rules very well. we're all just going to date each other bc why would i date only one of you. do teamups count as dates now." vibes with teenage polycules. and the Fab Five just. have that on lock. they each fulfill a different "niche" in the group. Garth is the softer, more emotional one you can go to if you're upset. Donna is the one for planning bright fun trips and making sure you don't wallow. Roy is protective and can pretend to be suave, but he shows affection through gift giving and grand gestures where words fail him. Wally can cheer any of them up with jokes and distractions. and of course Dick is the logical one who makes sure they all keep their heads on and don't drown in the responsibility.

overall i think it's a really cute ship and i do wish i just. knew more about them to be able to write them/read fic of it because i do love their dynamic. and i'm just a firm believer in the Titans being Dick's family, just as important to him as the Batfam. they're a disaster and for that you gotta love them.

i dont know if this is a wildly shared take but im always ,, enraptured is maybe a fitting description ,, im enraptured by novel wen kexing's (specifically NOVEL wkx's) sanity. alright so he is not the sanest person around, obviously. he is unhinged and unashamed of it. but he is so contained and self-controlled in his insanity.

im used to characters like him, of the same or an equal standing with equal power, history, goal, and personality who end up externalizing their inner demons in some shape or form at some point in the story (or in their own backstory). and i have the impression that wen kexing never really does that. not really. even when he skins the old valley master and bathes the valley in blood, is this the culmination of long years of planning; it is a calculated statement of power. its politics. not explosion. he remains grounded and reachable throughout; and even though describing what he does to crown himself valley master this way is a stretch, i would say it is still within the perimeters of it. it definitely is not anything where he seems to lose his shit.

the one moment when he comes close to a slipping sanity, when he maybe loses his marbles a bit expresses itself so very different to how these moments usually look like; in heavy sorrow, instead of rage. at the end of the main story, when wen kexing has fulfilled a-xiang's wish and killed mo huaiyang to avenge cao weining for her, and when he attains an injury that could turn fatal and is sitting in the shards of his life and really feels the loss of his a-xiang, his little girl in purple. he comes very close to dying there, dying because he cannot bring himself to remember his will to live. and only when zhou zishu asks him whether he wants to live does wen kexing seem to regain some spirit. only when zhou zishu tells him he is not going to leave him, does wen kexing regain his hope. and this is so interesting because this is not an explosion of rage, it is not violent. its just grief and sorrow, as simple and mundane as that. it makes him seem ,, well, not human, because rage is human too ,, maybe common. an everyman. i find that absolutely insane.

how can a guy like wen kexing, with a life and a lived experience like wen kexing, rettain his steadiness, his psychological stability, to that degree? absolutely maddening

I suppose it counts - that's adorable. Baldur's Gate certainly has enough stray cats that would maybe enjoy the company and comfort of palace life <3

I love the idea of taking care of cats together with him, Tav and him would have two, one that prefers him, and one who prefers Tav. Maybe His Majesty made it all the way from the inn to the city? ^^

Or maybe those two cats would grow into four, into six and before they know it, they have a small army of undead cats roaming the city streets adkfsjf 😅😂

Infodump abt the relationship between my Tav and Astarion below the cut. Just in case anyone is curious;;

What I was also thinking,,, is how my Tav Hadewych had a little trouble adjusting to the hunger of being a newly undead vampire consort (in my storyline, consort is different from spawn). In the drabble I wrote, after the 2nd reunion party, she misses Halsin a lot, and doesn't feel good enough to even dare to miss her druid lover. He's such a good, pure, amazing person (to her he can do no wrong), and he picked up on her and Astarion's,,, let's call it complex,,, dynamic. He worries for her, and this makes her think about what she wants (to travel, to stay with Halsin for a bit) - and by then, she's definitively picking up on how Astarion uses her hunger to rely on him.

So, she refuses to eat much, for a bit. Astarion starts bringing in more and more appetising victims. He's becoming desperate and frustrated as she keeps refusing. Eventually, sometimes, she does cave, and they have a big moment of satiety, of indulgance, and the most intense love.

What really gets me about their dynamic is that despite what some fans may say, Astarion has become far from another Cazador - rather the opposite. During this time, and even before, he himself chooses and lures in victims to bring back to Hadewych, or for them to share. It's so delightfully tragic for him to fall back into this pattern of what he's used to, although the power dynamic is completely different this time. He knows he's a lot more than that, but he's still insecure and feels he needs to make sure she won't leave him - if that is through using her hunger, so be it. Hadewych has trouble turning off her conscience when luring victims and killing outside of battle, so she struggles. She's too mortal, too sensitive, still. So he does it for her. Like a cat worried that their owner can't catch their own prey.

I'd like to turn this into a series of drabbles/a full story someday, but for now it marinates inside my brain <3. I hope it goes without saying that Hadewych and Astarion love each other an impossible amount. She knew what she was getting into when letting him ascend - a bit naive maybe, but she just wanted him to be happy and powerful. She is so similar to him, that she understands him too well and could never refuse these completely logical things that he wants.
