if Shuu was a human what would his top 5 favourite foods be?

ooh good one. This is tricky bc shuu is such a picky eater, but still has this ‘eat the world’ attitude, i think one thing abt human shuu aus rly neglect to compensate for is how closely tied Shuu is to the idea of being an apex predator, but I think you can still achieve it, and I will try my best! i do know a bit abt gourmet food! (There are actually a lot of books abt food critics and gourmet chefs who get 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕜𝕪 with cooking)

i feel like is also hard bc shuu would probably like everyone to think his favourite food is something rare and exotic so maybe he would twist the truth a little. Narrowing down specific foods is difficult but I will try my best!

Kaneki’s bussy

Orlotan - this fucked me up when i heard about it. But the practice of eating orlotan is utter decadence - to a ridiculous extent. It’s a bit like Foie Gras - the orlotan are wild caught and force fed to double their mass, then drowned and marinated in Armagnac and then cooked. It’s meant to be consumed whole, the bones spat out, and typically, the consumer is traditionally supposed to wear a napkin or towel over their face whilst they eat the bird. I can’t remember why - but I’ve seen it said that is either to maintain dignity when spitting out the bones, or to shield such a disgraceful act from God’s eyes. The latter sounds cool as fuck so i believe it. I love Jesus!!! I think Shuu would lap something like that up. I’ve yet to find something so dreadfully French in the matter of food, and I think he’d probably say this is his favourite food - if only for the amount of ceremony involved.

Cheesecake - Shuu always mentioning cheesecake in early TG and I would like to give him this one as a little treat. I don’t know a lot abt cheesecake bc i fucking hate the stuff but maybe he’d like something like Basque? Which is just burned custard(?) cheesecake - i was reminded of tiramisu but apparently it’s more of a soufflé. I think he’d probably go for something floral too - rose cheesecake’s probably a thing, lavender, peony. I don’t know if I see him as a sweet/dessert person. He’s more likely to enjoy richer desserts like cheesecake and chocolates.

Dark Chocolate - maybe a sneak! I am a Dark Chocolate Enjoyer so total bias but hear me out (yes i do also like black liquorice!). If it is less than 80% cocoa it’s too sweet! He’d be a 100% kind of guy, because bragging rights. I think he might enjoy it with some fruits, maybe with orange biscuits or raspberries. I think he’d like raspberries, they taste like little rubies to me. Dark chocolate goes good with almond butter, he might make it fancy - foamed raspberry with shredded chocolate over almond biscuits with coffee cream. we might call that a rather bizarre mocha, but shuu would say it’s a deconstructed tiramisu. the reason i think he’d choose dark chocolate is because i don’t think he’d eat sweets. Dark chocolate has a deeper taste profile, in my experience dark chocolate is always unique. This might appeal to Shuu. It goes well with far more flavours than typical chocolate - spices, florals, etc - i recently had dark chocolate almonds dusted in matcha! They were utterly divine. Dark chocolate is highly overrhated in my opinion.

Exotic Meat - this is a generalisation sorry 😢 But I believe it canonical - very premium cuts of meat from animals you might not typically farm - zebra, bear, crocodile, rattlesnake, that sort of thing. It’s really controversial for some reason and as a vegan I should be opposed, but I think wild hunting is leagues better than farming, provided it’s not an endangered species, but Shuu would definitely eat an endangered species. Maybe he likes to brag and his favourite meat is snow leopard, or something. Dodo. Dinosaur, even (he was There).

Fugu (pufferfish) - this is shorthand for ‘dangerous food’ lol! Without the danger of being a ghoul, we have to consider how a human shuu might chase this danger. He might hunt his exotic meats, but I think he might try and achieve this by also eating dangerous food - food that’s poisonous or toxic. a bit of a Russian roulette. I wouldn’t even put it beneath a human or a ghoul Shuu to eat something with worms! (Same tbh. Would.)

i think most of the above are what Shuu might want people to believe are his favourite foods, so I’d like to take some time to throw my other ideas in the ring.

I think he’d take comfort in Monte Cristo - if only because in a human universe, I would take it to be his father’s favourite food. He’d probably be given it as a child or something, so good associations. There’s not much rly to say else there, but the idea of Shuu eating a toastie fascinates me. If he eats it when he’s sad, i think he’d look like that little mouse video, but otherwise I think he’d eat a toastie with a knife & fork.

I mentioned dark chocolate earlier, but of course he might also like some luxury chocolates - i think of these wonderful chocolates i saw once, that had been dyed and marbled to look like planets and marbled, filled with pistachio or coffee foams. Wonderful. Straight from switzerland or italy. Maybe he would enjoy ruby chocolate too? I’ve never had it! I said no sweets but white chocolate has a time and place, but it works wonderfully with wasabi or miso - i made wasabi and white chocolate cupcakes once. Good lord. He would like that. White chocolate and nuts is also very good. When I was vegetarian, my guilty pleasure used to be salted liquorice dipped in white chocolate - but I don’t know if he’d like that!

Coffee: specifically coffee with blue seaweed or Kopi Iuwak. He’s definitely tried it, but does he like it? Who knows? I’ve always wanted to try seaweed coffee. Kopi Iuwak is coffee beans that’s already passed through the digestive system of a civet. It sounds like a bit of a farce to me, but i don’t think it’s as repulsive as people make out.

matchaaaa - bias i just think everyone should drink matcha

moon milk - i’ve never had this bc broke but it sounds so good. I think he’d like the pink/rose milk the most! maybe the blue spirulina?

Nut milks - vegan bias but seriously who can honestly argue cow juice tastes better than a refreshing glass of cashew milk??? Shuu would probably have something like pistachio milk, tigernut, brazil nut, macadamia -that sort of thing! Stuff you can’t get from the shops!

People will probably kill me if I don’t mention escargot or frogs legs so. Obligatory mention. Personally I find that to be rather typical and cliched - ooh, mandatory french food! So bizarre! Whatever. Partly why this ask took me a long time to get to, is because I wanted to go through my books and notes. It would have been easy for me to sit here and type that human Shuu would eat lobster and ragyu and live baby shrimp in miso soup, but i think it’s too obvious. In my experience, there is so much more to get out of Shuu when you delve deeper and don’t say the first thing!

i also want to say, sometimes i see how we (westerners) talk about food from different cultures. lots of high-class gourmet stuff seems silly, but i dont care to mock it. i can’t enjoy food anymore, but it makes me happy that some people enjoy food enough to make it a silly and pompous hobby. But i think sometimes we look at frogs legs or zebra steaks, orlotan or fugu, fermented egg, people eating guinea pigs, chihuahua or cat, sometimes we have a tendency to say it’s gross and twisted, but i don’t think that’s necessary. if something tastes good, if an animal has good meat, then why not? eating the world is sometimes a good thing. not always, but sometimes.

This question made me think a lot, so thank you! I was thinking about a human shuu - all the stories you could make up! There’s a lot to sink your teeth into!

exile: jason and bruce, even though this song is like two lovers fighting i think it can be interpreted as jason being upset after tim becomes robin and it took you five whole minutes to pack us up and leave me with it and i can see bruce’s pov of being fed up with giving jason the chance to do the right thing but him not doing it like you’d get your knuckles bloody for me second, third and hundredth chances balancing on breaking bridges, i couldn’t turn things around you never turned things around

this is me trying: tim, they told me all my cages were mental so i got wasted like all my potential, tim is often now written as this happy go lucky character and i think that in red robin he’s fighting some real demons but in the newer runs he’s fighting to make it through the day or insecurities about his position in the family or as a superhero or even as bernard’s boyfriend and i feel like it’s just so real like no other character is going to compare to me when it comes to that and when it comes to his position in everyday life he is the definition as wasted potential he is crazy smart and charismatic but he just hates school and hates studying i was so ahead the curve that the curve became a sphere

illicit affairs: bruce/ talia, bruce and talias relationship is not healthy but i do believe that they both or at least bruce loved the other person and i feel like it shouldn’t even be described as an relationship because it seems like a means to an end

mad woman: cass, in the comics and fics cass is often written to be a crazy, feral woman and i think that it’s a narrative constantly written about women and i feel like men are written as traumatized while women are not written or perceived with that tone they are written as vindictive or crazy

epiphany: babs and jim gordon, epiphany is written paralleling WWII to the pandemic and i think the perfect parallel in comic book history is babs and commissioner gordon fighting the same fight but taking different paths or routes and aaron dessner describes the song as comparing taylor’s family history and hero’s of today and i feel like that’s the perfect way to describe it

betty: babs/dick/kori, i already described my thoughts twice but i feel like dick would maybe take more accountability

hoax: duke, duke is the one character that i can’t really get a read on but as the newest member of the batfamily i feel like there’s still this feeling in him that’s like i have this new family and i love them but at the end of the day i want my parents my parents that raised me at the end of the day he’s a boy who wants his parents. i also feel like he’s still trusting of people and he reaps what he sowed everytime

the lakes: tim/bernard: tim always has an exit plan and it’s always escaping by himself to be by himself and i feel like it’s the same no matter who he’s with but when he met and started dating bernard he finally found someone to escape with and exit the hero world for im setting off, but not without my muse

You know what would be real funny ? A reverse isekai where people from our universe wake up in the bodied of major Blue Exorcist characters and start to unleash pure chaos. Some don't even know the manga exists, some are hardcore fans and others just assume this is some weird vivid dream. Just imagine the possibilities :

The guy in Rin's body is a hardcore Blue Exorcist fan and at first it's like a dream come true until he acctualy has to deal with everything Rin had to deal with and is just fed up with everything when they reach the Impure King Arc.

The poor soul who took over Lucifer's body who's just a normal college student and has no idea who these weirdos are and why they call themselves Illuminati (they didn't acctualy exist, right ? He's pretty sure those guys were supposed to be nothing more than a conspiracy theory). He assumed he was kidnapped and acctualy managed to escape, pretty much being on the run form the Illuminati now.

The girl who took over Arthur's body is a huge fan of video games and acctualy does martial arts in her freetime bc she finds fighting funny. Thinking this is just a dream and that she can't die , she has a field day when getting to fight all these diffrent demons. She really gets into the spirit of the fight without having to worry about hurting her opponent to bad. To everyone else she looks like a downright psycho and she has an immense bloodlust in fights. (She tried to strangle a demon with her bare hands once after stabbing them with that hear pin didn't work)

RIP to the girl who took over Lewin , she's a friend of the girl in Arthur's body and they both know the truth abt their reincarnation. She pretty much has to babysit her friend to make sure she doesn't accidentally kill herself while she assumes this to be just a dream. She also makes an effort to keep her away from the more.... devestating weapon. (Her friends doesn't need to find the firearms if she can already do so much damage with her hands and some claymore)

movie so so confusing. i thought i was in for like an absurdist comedy, but it was like forced feminist political commentary?? do NOT get me wrong on this one okay, i have seen so many people get torn to SHREDS for saying that they didn't like this movie bc they hate #girlpower. i am not one of those people. but idk abt u guys but i feel like its not that hard a concept to have a good female empowerment movie without just telling us straight in our faces that its female empowerment ALL. THE. TIME.. felt like i was being spoon fed with a forklift. theres this really cool special tactic called… subtlety.. wow its a crazy thing. they spent so much time shoving a message down my throat they.. forgot what it was.??? like they lost track of what they wanted to say like a million times over it was annoying. they said so much to mean so little. messaging so muddled the barbies literally interfered with a fucking government election and got away with it. they didn't want the kens to have any power so they took them away from the pink house and voted without them to put themselves back as the only leaders. the fuck barbie. i feel like the solution in barbieland was not to just fucking reinstall the matriarchy but instead work together as one to create an idyllic society where the barbies and the kens can live side by side without one towering over the other. the kens were not being horridly mistreated b4, but i understand wanting to be treated better. and i could have some mild sympathy for them, but as soon as they took over barbieland they just treated women like shit making them doing everything for them. and yes that is no good, but its interesting to me that the barbies did not take this as a lesson at all?? like they did not look back and really go, 'huh,, maybe you should ALSO have rights bc being seen and treated as inferior is not okay.' no they took it as an opportunity to shove more fucking glitter coated instagram infographic #positivity down my throat. i understand that this was kinda the point, to be like look! this is what its like and the 'just be yourself' solution means nothing in the end! just like the real world! but why would i want that? why would i want a backwards version of a fucking corrupt system that doesn't work? it doesn't work this way; flipping it, well guess what it still doesn't work. this is fucking barbieland, i WANT them to all be happy and equal in the end! i don't want to think about how awful everything is! its a fantasy world, why would you want to model it after the horrible deep sucking never ending vacuum into the black hole that is the real world? its my barbies and kens (and allen) and damnit i think that they should be happy. also side note, how tf did the kens brainwash the barbies??? like the fuck was that? to me that implies that the barbies also had the kens brain washed to be only accessories. like whoevers in power just has control over the other group? this movie makes everyone like a fucking monster.

laughed a handful of times, as fucking painful as the depression barbie ad was i laughed really loud at the bbc pride and prejudice joke. i thought the godfather joke was also very funny. some of the doll jokes were funny, but its like okay guys this was low hanging fruit to begin with lets not repeat them like ten times over. the n-sync allen joke also got me. i know i laughed a bit in the theater… but as of right now i'm drawing a blank on standout jokes. that says smth huh?

i like the big ken dance number when they went to like abstract reality zone. that was good. now just remake this movie but like that. it needed to be more loose and fun, alter reality for a dance number! do that!! i want some goddamn old hollywood type of just nonsense sequences. the song was not good tho tbh.

costumes and set were… objectively very good! do NOT get me wrong. the team behind it is very talented and they did an awesome job! however. they went for more of a 'generic barbie' look for the barbies costumes and for barbieland. which to me ended up looking more haunting..? idk WHY but the lack of actual dolls just chilling around made the few real dolls stand out like sore thumbs. that and also it felt like edward scissorhands type of suburbia. complete pastel hellscape. the thought of living in a 'perfect' pink pastel world where everything is the same everyday forever and if ur slightly different you literally get banished forever is horrifying. wheres all the girl power huh?? what happened to women helping women??? nope, you look kind odd?? sorry we hate you forever.

this movie was not fun and whimsical to me. it was drab, it was horrifying, it was depressing. i wanted to have a brief escape from reality, but instead i was faced with the same atrocities of everyday life but hot pink and glitter coated. which only added to the awful feeling of 'it will be this way forever.' it wasn't a silly movie about being a woman and what that means, it was a faux women power movie made by massive corporations trying to tell us that they are hip and relatable and that you should buy so much merchandise. it was just one big reminder that capitalism will live forever and it will only get worse because everyone just eats it up if its brightly colored.

Ofc, they all know abt Kyurem at this point, but none knew where it is. After Neo Plasma's attack, they never saw light of Kyurem again. But that only fed Iris' curiosity really, she knows Kyurem was still around, she just has to find it.

And she did.

Kyurem joined her, she managed to defeat him, and he spoke highly of her skills. She laughed bitterly at that, saying if only the people of Unova could see that as well. Kyurem had said how he feels the same, how he knows people only saw him as an empty piece of the Original Dragon, merely an accessory for Zekrom and Reshiram, an empty husk of the former dragon, without a mind of its own. They were wrong ofc, Iris knows that, especially now talking to Kyurem. And Kyurem crouched down to her level, sees her tears, asks her of it, and she went on how for some reason, talking to a supposed monster was more comforting than talking to any of the Unovan people, how Kyurem understood her more than anyone. And ofc, that warmed smth within Kyurem, as he leaned in and gave her a soft nuzzle, telling her to dry those tears, he will help her prove to everyone how strong she is. How strong both of them are.

And just bcmdnd yknow Kyurem actually being really encouraging w Iris, telling her how much of a failure Plasma was when he was under them, and telling her how she's doing a much better job. And ofc, that got to Iris' head, the first time she actually killed someone was on the same day Kyurem joined her. A few trainers or maybe they were rangers were patrolling the Giant Chasm, and then they saw Iris there w Kyurem. Iris' back facing them, but Kyurem was sneering at them, a puff of cold air leaving where his mouth was supposed to be. He looked at Iris, "are they not the ones who looked down on you?"

Iris finally turned, saw them, he recognizes them, during that time she and Bianca were at Lacunosa, she heard their whispers going on why she was just leisurely on a stroll w a friend, and not doing her Champion duties.

The rangers were frozen in place, Kyurem hasn't even used his powers yet, but they were fearing for their lives.

Iris was facing them now, a glint within those crimson eyes. "Yes.. they are."

The rangers were pleading to Iris, desperate they called out to her, asking for her forgiveness, they didn't mean what they said. But, damn, Iris has to admit, the way they knelt down before her, the way they cried, the way they were willing to do anything just so she would spare them, it was music to her ears. And god it felt strange, there was a sudden jolt of thrill within her, the way that she can just decide whether or not the rangers lives or dies, it got her excited. The thought of being the one in charge of peoples' fate, it gave her a sense of sordid mirth. She smiled at the rangers, and they realized their fate has been sealed, softly, she spoke, "I want you to kill them."

Hearing Kyurem's thunderous roar, piercing icicles honed towards them, and they were welcomed by the sweet embrace of death.

Just cbmdbcmdnd god but if this is just a villain Iris au tho, imagine the Champions not figuring out its her that's Plasma's new leader now. ok actual commentary. when i read the manga for the first time and got to connie's subplot with feeding falco?? i thought isayama really retconned his character ngl - granted i never liked connie as much as everyone else😭 sorry.

then again, connie rly lost his whole entire family - but how would connie's mother have even used the jaw titan to fight back? if he was resigned to the fact that eren was destroying the world other than Eldia, i suppose it'd make sense + connie was very blinded by grief with sasha, and having to see his mother in this state for years. jean made his own mistake by joining up with a jeagerists, resigning to the fact that he couldnt fight back.

i used to think connie was immature and dumb here, but i understand his actions (especially seeing how he doesnt know falco beyond the fact that hes a marleyan + was with gabi, who killed sasha).

that image of connie smiling when he told falco to brush his mother's teeth tho?? cursed. Cursed.

armin's inferiority complex :(((( that he cant size up to erwin :(( poor baby. armin was so brave too - he was genuinely willing to sacrifice his life (and his titan) to save connie's mother so it wouldnt be falco.

jeez😭 in other news i cant help but rly rly dislike the girl who idolized mikasa sm. i know she saved her in season 1... she rly wanted to follow in her footsteps, but there's such a thing as idolizing someone too much. it's like she was left with no other goal in life but to be mikasa - she wasnt even her own person anymore. it's tragic.

i laughed so hard when onyakopon called the jaygerists 'xenophobic shits' LMAO - even when jean held a gun to his head. and then, when JEAN STOOD UP FOR ONYAKOPON! i forgot a few things from the manga evidently - that part fucking shook me.

also: jean pushing floch out of the way of the Cart - obviously, it was all a part of the escape plan. but floch couldnt know that right after the fact - which makes how 😐😒 he was right after especially shitty. for all he knew jean sacrificed his life - fucking asshole.

this mention of marco made me scream😭ok i couldnt control myself - not even for ship reasons as much as what marco must represent to jean. i fucking love jean's character, the fact that he's grown so so much since being a hotheaded pompous asshole who wanted in with the MP... the fact that he still thinks abt marco just fucking destroys me. i love him.

i couldnt help myself. this part was so funny, but i unironically felt super sad for hitch when annie up and left to join up with the others. idk i took that personally :( im glad annie is becoming more redeemed in this part of the season though - she killed a shit ton of scouts, but just like almost everyone else in aot, her morals are so grey that i love her anyway.

the terror on reiner's face when he saw the 104th😭these people who he felt guilt abt for years and stewed in so much regret mustve been a horrible wake up call lol. but gabi and falco are there!!

when ch126 came out (the one where that panel is from) it was shit on a lot, especially on reddit but i cant remember why✋ so stupid. i love this panel - it's one of those iconic ones - and it rly represents how everyone, enemies and friends, are coming together and resolving to stop the Rumbling, as little power as they may hold.

ive hit my picture limit on this post. HOWEVER - i fucking loved this episode. the pacing was immaculate, and the intro+outro hit so hard, as always. it was a great choice to adapt both 125 and 126 in this episode.

THE TO BE CONTINUED !! i cant wait - ch127 sticks in my mind for a lot of reasons but i wont get into it for spoiler reasons. AHHH IM JUST PSYCHED!
