I know I’ve been getting a lot of comments on that but I don’t care. Laurie, to me, is someone who does horrible things but isn’t a horrible person and can be redeemed. I don’t condone the horrible things she does, but she isn’t irredeemable and she’s no different than any of the main characters.

Jackie, to me, is a good character but she isn’t this amazing person and despite her character growth in the later seasons, she’s still a fucking asshole at times. She slut shames, is disrespectful to her “best friend” because she’s tall and is a redhead, and makes several other mean ass comments but it’s fine and funny because “she’s got good traits” or whatever. But Laurie doesn’t get that same grace because she’s “the devil” or a “horrible person”.

I think Buffy should be understood as something for the product of it’s time and be viewed as a time capsule for how Gen X and Millennials experienced their teenage hoods in. Because… to be frank Buffy does not have great advice and just seems like watching a teenage girl struggle in her time when resources were very low.
