“Born From the Same Ink” Ch. 15 Sneak Peek
Every room the unlikely duo came across was thoroughly inspected. At some point, Sammy started preaching to her again but Audrey ignored him, holding herself back from shushing him because they hadn’t seen any Keepers yet. Maybe Bendy had killed them all. She could only hope.
Just before the end of a long hallway, they found a side room with a gent pipe upgrade station. Thrilled, Audrey counted up all the parts she had and compared them to the ones she needed. The thrill was swiftly replaced with frustration and she let out a loud groan.
“What ails you, sheep?” Sammy asked curiously, pausing his search of the room.
The nickname didn’t help Audrey feel less annoyed, quite the opposite in fact so she let out an angry sigh.
“I am this close,” she held her fingers together to the point they were almost but not quite touching, “to upgrading my weapon. I just need one more Gent toolkit but I can’t find one anywhere! I’ve been searching ever since I found these stupid blueprints but they all must have evaporated or something.”
Tilting his head to the side in consideration, Sammy wondered, “Have you tried asking the Ink Demon for guidance?”
Audrey rolled her eyes. “No.”
“Well, my sister in ink,” he replied smoothly while cracking his knuckles together. “That is your problem. This is clearly a test of faith.”
Before she could do more than scoff, the man spread his arms out and raised his mask to the ceiling in a supplicating gesture.
“Hear us, Bendy!” he shouted in a voice so loud Audrey could've sworn it shook the room.
“Shh, they’re going to hear you!”
Deaf to her protests, he continued speaking as though he had never been interrupted. “Reveal the location of the final item we require to defeat your enemies on this quest to prove our devotion!”
Mortified, Audrey covered her face with her hands, certain they were about to be swarmed by Keepers.
There were some sounds of rummaging, opening and closing lockers, then silence.
“Ahem.” Rather than coughing, he spoke the word aloud in a dry, unamused manner.
When Audrey uncovered her face she was greeted by the sight of a Gent kit dangling from the musician’s fingertips.
Baffled, she retrieved the kit, staring at it with wide eyes.
“How did you-what-” she stammered, looking between it and Sammy in amazement. “Where?”
The man pointed to a drawer she swore she searched through when they first entered the room.
When she told him that, Sammy gave her a disbelieving look, then nonchalantly suggested, “Perhaps a lack of faith wasn’t the problem.”
Narrowing her eyes at the snide undertone in his words, she asked, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“The Ink Demon blessed you with eyes. Use them.”
Oh, Sammy, you wonderful sassy dirtbag, please stop stealing the spotlight. This story is supposed to be about the siblinks.
Guys, I've been dying to share this scene ever since I first started outlining Audrey's side adventure with him. Seriously, I've had it written for months and almost turned it into a Bendy Bite but I knew it would be better if I held back. SO happy I'm finally at this point of the fic.
Anyway, thank you SO MUCH for reading and I'm hoping to have the next update ready by Saturday. Wish me luck!!!

𝓕𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝓞𝓻 𝓕𝓸𝓮?
This is for all my Bendy fans out there and those potentially following me.
So, way before I was on Tumblr, I started a little story called "Friend Or Foe?" inspired by a Bendy fanart I saw. I had decided to rewrite it because the place I write it on had sold their app to new developers and began a whole ass purge so I had to read the ToS but we're good now. Anyways—

This is Spifey's original story, "𝓕𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝓞𝓻 𝓕𝓸𝓮?"

Sorry for coming in so late! Can I get a snippet from Searching the Depths? Or Drew's Last Hope? Thank you!
No need to apologize Nemo! I'm happy to see you. ^^ Hmm, I've been debating what piece would best suit your ask, but I think I'd like to give you a snippet of Drew's Last Hope.
So, context: Drew's Last Hope is the tentative title for the BATDR section of Searching the Depth's story. I consider The Heart of the Studio to be mostly BATIM, Richard the Keeper to be the interlude between BATIM and BATDR, and then we get Drew's Last Hope. Here's a snippet with Audrey and Bella, from inside of Lord Amok's prison. (Programming note, this was heavily inspired by Hermes in Epic: The Musical.)
The sound of slow applause echoed from the back of the chamber. “I have to say, I underestimated you.”
Audrey jerked her head around, the voice surrounding her, but she couldn’t place where it was coming from. “Who’s there?!” “An ally, if you’ll have one.” A gleeful cackle pierced the air, as the candlelight danced across the rocky walls of her prison. Forming together, a shadowy figure pried itself out of the wall. It was none other than the shepherd she’d run into before.
“You! What are you-how are you-” She stammered.
“Shhhh.” The shepherd laughed as she sauntered over, putting a hand on Audrey’s shoulder as she put a finger over her own mouth. “My dear sheep, we wouldn’t want them to hear us, now would we?” She giggled. “Did you really think they could keep us contained?”
“I-augh.” Audrey shook her head and tried to catch her breath. “How did you get in here?”
“Took the back route. The front door would’ve been faster, but uh, I don’t think Amok would’ve liked that.” She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “What, you’ve never Flowed through a wall before?”
“That…was Flow?” Audrey looked her up and down, her eyes scrunched together in doubt, and maybe just a little bit of fear. “But…why? How can it do that?” “Simple. We don’t like staying cooped up. Gotta learn to get away.” She smirked. “Porter really didn’t tell you anything, did he?” “No…” Audrey sighed and looked to the ground. She closed her eyes and shook her head, clenching her fists. “He was off pretty quickly, and I didn’t think to ask…how do you know him?” “Oh, we were roommates, once upon a time.” She leaned against the wall, resting a bare foot against its stone. “We took him in when things got hectic. He helped us find supplies, we helped him stay alive.”
“So…you’re friends then?” Audrey cocked her head to the side curiously.
“Something like that.” She smirked. Somehow it felt less cocky and more…genuinely playful. “Porter’s practically family at this point. Then again, there’s very few people here I wouldn’t say that about…” She looked to the ground and sighed, shaking her head. “I know every lost one, searcher, and toon like the back of my hand. But I don’t know you. And I’ll be frank with you, Audrey.” She stuck her hands in her pockets as she looked up at her, ever so slightly menacing. “Your first impression left something to be desired. What’s your story?”
“My…story?” Audrey took a step back, her arms slightly raised, as if ready to defend herself.”
The shepherd nodded. “You aren’t like anything I’ve ever seen. You came in here and immediately started thrusting souls back into the puddles. And, well, if I’m to be brutally honest, you’re making my life harder.” The shepherd narrowed her eyes. “Why are you here? Were you sent to torture us further? Or are you really that unaware of the power you hold?”

{While Audrey is talking with Henry in the Keeper's prison, Valley is lured away by the faint strums of a banjo. She follows the sound to another cell: Subject 418... Valley pulls the lever and the cell's shutter lifts up, behind the glass she's greeted by a faceless ink person; his back facing away from her just strumming away at his banjo... Even without a face Valley knew deep in her gut who this person was.]
Valley, Knocking on the glass: Hey...Excuse me, a-are ...Are you M-Mr. Lawrence?
Sammy: I have nothing to say to a heretical wench... Go away.
Valley: Um, well I sort of can't, this gonna sound weird..
Sammy: I Said. Go. Away!
Valley, under her breath: So that's where I get my stubbornness from...
{The detective sighs trying to figure out how to get Sammy to talk to her, when it hit her a few seconds later Valley was humming a song...A love song that Sammy had wrote for her grandmother Rosalynne, The banjo stops as Sammy tenses up.]
Sammy: That...Song, I know that song I-
Valley, cutting him off: You wrote it.
Sammy, now standing and fully facing the girl: I didn't write it for you...
Valley: I know. *holds a picture up to Sammy* You wrote it for her.
[Sammy went to grab the picture but the glass prevented him from doing so.]
Sammy: Rosie? Why do you have her...
[Sammy pauses finally looking between the girl and Rosalynne's photo and noticed the uncanny likeness between the two]
Valley: Ah, there's the light bulbs going off... It's scary, eh? Everyone always says I look like my granny when she was young...
Sammy, processing everything: Your granny?...Rosie, my Rosie she's- *Valley nods* ...who?
Valley: Who was my grandfather? Well, who else Sammy?
Sammy: But, but..She..s-She never said-
Valley: You disappeared before she could tell you, had to raise my mom all alone.
Sammy, sits down burying his head in hands:
Valley: I know it's a lot to take in...
Sammy:
Valley:
{Someone clears their throat and Valley sees Audrey waiting on the second floor.]
Valley:...If you want me to go away now I'll just-
Sammy: Wait...Tell me your name.
Valley: It's ...Carol, but I prefer to be called by my middle name Valley.
Sammy: Valley...
{Audrey yells at her to hurry up, Valley sighs and backs away from the cell and calls out to Audrey]
Valley: Miss Drew, what our deal was again?
Audrey:..Are you serious right now?
Valley, as her tattoos start glowing: 'Fraid not friend, the deal was to get you to the Gent building. I never said anything about meetin' Wilson. I trusted that bastard once, look where it got me...
Audrey: But maybe he can fix it maybe he can-
Valley: There is no maybe, Audrey. This is where we part ways...
[Valley draws a hole into the floor and jumps into it, the hole disappears a few seconds later leaving an upset Audrey and baffled Sammy behind.]

pretty proud of this drawing of Audrey that while technically for my batim/toh crossover fanfic "Inky demons" can also just be Audrey art as well! This is a drawing based off of the chapter 8 where Audrey finds out that she's made of ink, the single thing that made her run away from her small group.

Chapter 12: you must be new.
-Break the cycle-
Audrey opened her eyes, her head was spinning.
She felt…different. The world around her was even different, it was like someone sketched on the environment with a pen.
Audrey raised her hands to her meet here eyes.
"What’s wrong with my hands…?" She said to herself. The woman took another look at her hands, bathed in yellow light. One hand was completely drenched in ink.
"What’s wrong with my hands?!" Her hands quivered as she wheezed.
"Oh Audrey, what’s happened to you?" The girl muttered, she had a habit of talking to herself. The animator rose to her feet.
Everything around her looked uncanny, like art, even herself. She gazed around; taking in her environment.
There was a rather large pool of ink not too far away from the animator. Above that pool, words were written on the wall. They read
WELCOME HOME.
In thick black ink. Weeping could be heard in the distance by an unknown person.
Audrey shivered, and placed her hand onto a desk. She noticed a note, and picked it up to read.
"Every great story begins in mystery. Although things may be dark at the start, the truth illuminate your way. Don’t be afraid of who you are. Fear only what you may become, and banish it away."
-Your best pal
She completed reading the note aloud. Who was her best pal? She had no clue. She pushed herself to keep moving, and possibly find away out of here.
The woman inspected her environment once more, on the wall there was a poster of Wilson. The man who dragged her into this. She snatched it off the wall. It read
"All knowing, Wilson knows your purpose."
Audrey then remembered the last thing she heard from Wilson before being presumably drowned. He said he knew her purpose. Her head still dizzy.
What the hell is going on?
She thought, crumbling up the poster and tossing it into the pool of ink.
There was a ladder missing two pieces, it seemed to lead out of here. Audrey looked around for something to fix it. Even tho she didn’t really need to.
She opened the drawers on that desk she leaned on earlier, and found the ladder pieces.
The woman placed each piece to the ladder, pulling it to make sure it was secure. When finished, she ascended.
She walked through the halls, speakers above her rang white noise before a voice wheezed through; catching the animators attention.
"Attention! Children of the machine!" Wilson’s crusty voice wheezed within the speaker.
"This is Wilson. Your friend, your protector." He continued, Audrey however scrunched her face.
Friend? Protector?
He was far from it, he had quite literally drowned her.
"For two hundred and eleven days, you’ve lived without the Ink Demon and Weeper haunting your steps. I banished them away. I tore both their bodies in two."
The ink what now?
Audrey thought back to the poster she threw earlier. That claimed to have killed whatever…those were, she strongly doubts Wilson tore em into two.
"In return, I ask you a favor. Among you is a stranger, a young lady, bring her to me." Wilson continued, Audrey sighed.
Fantastic, now I’m wanted
She thought to herself, and continued down the hall. Nothing else wheezed through the speakers. Audrey deeply sighed once again.
However she moved forward.
Some kind of creature bursted out of the ceiling, Audrey gasped and jolted back harshly. It seemed to be dead.
Taking a few more turns, she approached a hallway. When exiting it, she entered some kind of toy factory?
HEAVENLY TOYS
Read above, posters of familiar faces laid in front of the bold sign.
Bendy, Boris, Alice, and Azael.
What a quartet, Audrey thought.
The woman wandered around more, taking in this new environment. She pulled a switch; but it broke.
There was a broken wall ahead, she could climb up. The girl approached the wall, and climbed, however when she looked up, a disgusting face stared back at her. It snarled and pushes Audrey off the wall, she yelped and fell to the floor.
The creature jumped down, and slammed in pipe on the floor. A loud thud followed. Audrey stumbled to her feet and dashed away.
She spotted a porta potty like closet and threw herself inside. It was quiet. Until the creature slammed itself into the place Audrey was hiding.
Until soft humming alerted the creature, it turned to audrey and snarled before walking away, or limping away.
Audrey sighed and exited the "miracle station" definitely did a miracle for her. She picked up a can, and drank it.
"I wouldn’t drink too much of that if I were you." A voice broke through the silence, Audrey gasped loud and whipped her head around to see an angel..? Alice angel, however she looked different. She looked like an explorer.
"It helps patch you up, but the after taste? It’s not so good." The angel continued, Audrey felt tense and confused. The angel took notice and attempted to calm down the artist.
"Easy now, I’m not gonna hurt you. Looked like you needed some help." The angel reassured Audrey. The toon gripped the woman’s ink drenched arm. However, Audrey yanked her arm away.
"Don’t touch me! What are you? Ugh, what is this horrible place?!" Audrey gasped out in frustration, though the angel laughed.
"Yeah…I remember my first day down here. I know, it’s really scary. But you’re actually pretty lucky. The machine could’ve turned you into a searcher." The angel explained, Audrey was so confused.
"Y-you mean that thing that attacked me?!" Audrey asked, the angel laughed again and shook her head.
"Nope, that’s a piper, and he’s apart of a gang so be careful." The angel replied, patting Audreys shoulder.
"I don’t understand any of this…I cant think, it hurts." Audrey sighed, the angels smile slightly faded.
"Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll catch up pretty quickly, if you can stay alive." The angel attempted to reassure Audrey again.
"Lesson one: searchers down have legs and tend to swarm." The angel explained, Audrey nodded.
"Look, it’s not good to stay in one place around here. Keep moving, and stay close to the shadows. Please, take my advice, head to the upper levels. It’s…safer there." The angel said, Audrey felt more comfortable realizing she’s not a threat.
"Can I come with you?" The animator asked, however the angel sighed and shook her head.
"You cant…I’m sorry. I uh, have a wolf. He doesn’t care for strangers." The angel sighed out, Audrey feeling rightfully confused gasped out.
"A- a wolf?!"
"Like I said, you’ll catch on. Good luck, hope we meet again." The angel laughed, she seemed in a rush. Like she was only here to check around but stumbled into Audrey.
The angel caught herself and turned back to Audrey.
"Oh! And…one more thing. Above everything else, stay away from the Ink Demon and Weeper." The angel warned, she seemed very serious about this. Audrey recalled what Wilson had said, about banishing whatever those were away. She still didn’t have a clear understanding of what they were, so she decided to ask.
"W-what are those?" Audrey asked, The angel carried a stern and worried expression before answering.
"Oh, you’ll know them when you see them. One likes to smile, the other frowns and cries. They both kill anything that crosses them. Just…promise me you’ll stay out of sight if you encounter them." The angel finished, Audrey nodded.
"Wait!" Audrey called out, the angel came to a halt and turned back.
"Um, what’s your name?" Audrey asked, she kinda just wanted to keep the conversation going.
"They call me Alice. I’m…not very fond of it." The angel replied, Audrey though the name was gorgeous however.
"Well, I’m Audrey." The angel nodded and they both shared a smile.
"Well, Audrey. Welcome to the studio." The toon said, a click made it self known to Audrey and she turned her head. When turning back to face Alice, she was gone.
"Ah, dang it" Audrey sighed to herself. No need to cry over spilled milk.
The animator continued forward, heading up. She’d follow Alice’s instructions.

Catching a Prophet
Well, thank you everyone who’s contributed to the sudden influx of Sammy art flooding my feed. You’ve infected me. I’m still a few chapters away from being able to include him in my fic, “Born from the Same Ink,” so I decided to write this little thing for his birthday (even though I’m late). It’s inspired by @reanimationstation ‘s post batdr-au (particularly this post) and an adorable sketch my sister @tiredtrashpanda made of Sammy and toon Bendy fishing together based on the drawing in Joey’s apartment (BATIM). I would link her pic here but she never posted it.
Enjoy!
Sammy Lawrence had been sitting at the edge of a rickety pier with a fishing rod in his hands for over an hour and what did he have to show for his efforts? Exactly nothing. The same result he gained from years of piety and devotion dedicated to his Lord.
He wasn’t sure what prompted him to take up one of the rods lying on the deserted pier (abandoned and alone, just like him). Now that the Ink Demon had chosen to take on such a weak and pitiful form, the self-proclaimed prophet had simply been searching for a proper place to reflect on his miserable life.
The edge of an endlessly deep pool of black water seemed to be the perfect location. However, his dark contemplation was interrupted when he noticed the first unused pole at his feet. After picking it up, he was surprised to discover it was a true fishing rod, complete with a proper reel, fishing line and hook.
Rather than casting himself into the inky abyss like he was previously considering, he decided instead to cast the hook to see if he would catch anything. Like everything he did to please his Lord, it was in vain.
Frustrated and enraged, the musician was about to throw the useless thing into the water when he heard shoes clacking down the pier.
Assuming the footsteps belonged to Henry or Allison, he kept the rod, planning on using it as an excuse to avoid whatever it was they were about to ask him to do. Was it too much to ask for his former coworkers to allow him to sulk in peace?
When the reason for his brooding came into view, he was unpleasantly surprised.
Pie-cut eyes and a formerly glorious grin smiled at him as their owner watched him expectantly.
Unwilling to dignify the fraud with a reaction, Sammy silently turned to stare at the spot where his fishing line disappeared into the inky waters, doing his best to appear completely occupied with his current activity. Usually, if he ignored the creature, it would leave of its own volition.
There was a thump to his left. Out of the side of his mask, he saw Bendy sitting beside him, swinging his feet cheerfully off the edge of the pier in a very undignified manner.
Sammy held in a groan. He was not in the mood for this.
It was odd sitting so close to the former object of his worship. Just a few days ago he would have rejoiced and reveled in this blessed opportunity. Now it was nothing but an uncomfortable reminder of his Lord’s fall and the hopelessness of his situation.
Mimicking the man at his side, the little devil picked up a fishing rod and held it over the water.
It should have been a simple matter to continue ignoring the other being fishing at his side. Except, Sammy swiftly noticed that Bendy was doing it wrong. Not only was he holding the tool upside down, but the hook wasn’t even in the water!
“That’s not how you hold it,” the musician said disdainfully, setting his useless pole to the side and instinctively reaching over to correct him.
Without any fuss other than a curious tilt of the head, the cartoon imp allowed the man to take the rod from his hands and teach him how to use it properly.
Pointing out the different parts of the object, he explained their purposes, demonstrating how to properly grip it and how to release or reel in the fishing line.
“Take care while baiting your hook,” he cautioned, pointing out the jagged object at the end of the line. “While innocent in appearance, its devious design allows it to easily embed itself in your flesh. There it will remain until it is forcefully removed, which is often more painful and damaging than the initial wound.”
Not that he cared, Sammy reminded himself. Maybe a little pain would be good for his Lord. It would be nothing compared to the pain he experienced every day he was forced to live in this accursed prison he called a body.
When the toon glanced around for something to bait his line with, the musician sighed and pulled out a can of bacon soup from his suspender pocket.
A few minutes of coaching later, Bendy made a near-perfect cast with a chunk of bacon on his hook. The bacon and hook disappeared into the water with a soft plop.
“Well done, my Lord!” he praised with a shocking amount of sincerity.
The little devil beamed at him, eyes glittering with excitement. For a brief moment, Sammy forgot the resentment he held towards the other being.
Snapping back to reality, the man distracted himself by reeling in his own rod, deciding to add some bait to his own hook. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t thought of doing so until now. Of course he wasn’t catching anything. Maybe the simple event of being in his Lord’s presence had triggered a flash of inspiration!
When Bendy once again went to copy his actions, Sammy stopped him.
“It’s too soon to pull in the line,” the prophet explained. “Similar to how my Lord stalks his prey, this activity requires patience. You must wait until a lamb-er, a fish is attached to the line before reeling it in. You’ll know the doomed creature has fallen into your trap when-”
Bendy’s pole began to bend, flicking up and down while the toon watched in confused wonder.
“-when that happens!”
Immediately, Bendy began reeling in his catch as his companion cheered him on.
Eventually, a small, striped yellow fish burst from the ink, wriggling and fighting desperately against the fishing rod that held it captive. The muscles of its small body were no match for the hook pierced through its lip.
When the imp eagerly reached out to grab the fish, Sammy blocked the action with an arm.
“Careful, you could impale yourself on the hook. Allow me.”
Nimble fingers skillfully detached the critter from the line. He examined it closely, curious about a fish that could survive in this environment. Upon remembering a conversation he overheard between Audrey and Wilson’s ex-housekeeper, he divined the fish’s species.
“I believe this is a ‘yellow perch,’” Sammy explained, offering it to Bendy.
The toon excitedly snatched the poor thing from his grip. Clinging to his prize with both hands, he fixed it with an awestruck expression unbefitting the ruler of this realm.
Unamused, the musician wiped the fish slime on his trousers, returning his attention to his own rod.
“Now, it’s up to you to decide its fate,” Sammy explained with a disinterested wave. “You can eat it, if that is your desire. We can take it back to the kitchens and cook it there. It is rather small, so I’m not sure it would be worth it. If you are feeling merciful, you can release-”
Crunch
The unexpected sound prompted Sammy to glance at Bendy just in time to witness him swallowing whatever was in his mouth. The fish was nowhere to be seen.
The toon blinked at him with an innocent grin, then pointed at the bacon soup can by his side.
Wordless, Sammy handed over the item and watched as the little demon dug out another piece of bacon to attach to his line.
Perhaps his Lord was still in there somewhere.
*Bonus scene I’m too tired to write out properly.
They keep fishing. Bendy eats every fish he catches and Sammy either throws his catches back or gives them to the lil’ demon.
Eventually, the former musician starts whistling some tune he wrote/made-up. After a few seconds, a bunch of gilson fish float to the top of the lake/pool they’re at (probably the harbor from the first game).
They both freeze in shock. Since Sammy stopped whistling, the gilson quickly recover and swim back underwater.
Bendy loses his shit. He starts jumping up and down, then grabs Sammy by the strap of his overalls, pulls him to his level and frantically gestures at the water.
Sammy gets the hint and starts whistling again.
Sure enough, the gilson return and Bendy runs off to find something to pull in all those new tasty treats. Poor Sammy is stuck whistling until he comes back.
**Bonus bonus scene, Audrey and Henry yelling at Sammy for unintentionally drugging the little guy after he ate about 10-20 gilson (I imagine it would take a lot to knock out the Ink Demon, even in his toon form).
Thank you so much for reading! This was my first time writing Sammy, so please let me know how I did! I would love to hear your feedback, especially since his arc is coming up soon in my main fic.

Part 4 for Bendy?!?!?? I have waaaaay to many ideas of how this goes but I wanna hear what ur gonna do take ur time tho.
Tbh the way part 4 was going to end was pretty boring, it was just going to be Bendy killing The Keepers and rescuing you then maybe some soft cuddly Bendy at the end. If you don’t mind, I’d love to hear your thoughts and I could maybe turn those ideas into fics! And if you want the original ending I can post that as well. :)
