Note
for the toh ask game- 2, 8, 12?
from this ask game:
2. Ramble about your favorite character of all time as much as you want. We're listening
Ohhhh boy. Oh man. Oh geez. You play a dangerous game, starting out with the kicker.
The obvious choice would be Luz, right? because she's like, the perfect main character. Lovable, relatable, flawed, believable (mostly; those fireworks were a bit much), clever, emotional, funny, the list goes on.
But.
However.
I have to go with Vee.
To me, Vee is all those things and more. She's still relatable, but for completely different (some unaddressed by canon, some completely made up by me) reasons. She's the cutest sweetest little shapeshifter we actually got the chance to get to know (sorry Stringbean). She's flawed, she'd completely given up on Luz's return and was ready to throw away whatever parts of her life she didn't jive with, and then even after most of a day of hanging out with her, she was STILL kinda mad at her! She's got confusing emotions and she was able to admit it! She's a tortured and traumatized kid who's trying maybe a bit too hard to put it all behind her, and even her more fantastical struggles are made to make perfect sense in that context. She's clever and observant enough to blend in with humans (and even convince Camila she was Luz for a while), and she was instrumental in solving the rebus. She's funny not just in her sense of humor (which is anywhere from awkward to earnest to dry, all hilarious), but also in the dichotomy of being one of the more "normal" "human" characters in the show, despite not really being either of those things (part of a thought-extinct species, and unique even among others of that species. said species is a kind of magic-eating shape-shifting demon from another realm, and here she is in suburban connecticut, idly learning spanish with her friends).
She's my precious baby blorbo and I love her. She's chubby (I'm chubby), she's awkward around her crush (I'm awkward around my crush (and also in general)), she likes to wear warm colors and big boots (I like to wear warm colors and big boots (not that I have any that fit well enough for daily wear)), she's got a bit of an overbite (I had one when I was young), she is (or, I guess, was?) kinda sorta something like a twin (I'm a twin), her hair is poofy and long (at least in her epilogue design) (my hair is poofy and long), augh, she feels basically tailor-made for me. I'm not exaggerating when I say I learned to love certain parts of myself by loving them first in her.
She's perfect.
also. im gonna rant about her even more in the next bit, sorrynotsorry.
8. Any headcanons? If so, which are your favorite?
Soooo many. Like, enough that I'm writing a whole ass barely-even-canon-divergent AU just to give myself the excuse to explore them. Actually, kinda writing two if you count MatVNN, but it's more of a post-canon affair.
Probably my favorite, though, is Vee being trans (and a bunch of other flavors of queer). I'll admit, a lot of the things that make me like Vee so much are just Sorta Plausible Shit I Came Up With, and chief among them is my trans Vee theory.
So, I'll start with the canon stuff:
Vee is rather unique, even among basilisks. Her tail has 3 fins rather than the other basilisks' 1 or 2 fins, her eyes have a different structure (and more individual colors) than the others', and she has a distinct head and neck that the other basilisks don't have. She's also a lot smaller than the other basilisks: about half the size of III and IV, and even smaller compared to the "greater basilisk" which attacked Hexside (we'll call her the Inspector). In the epilogue, Vee's size doesn't appear to have changed much, if at all (hell, even in her human form, she doesn't look much taller), nor have the sizes of III and IV. The only change any of them appear to have gone through is that Vee has more/longer hair, some of which is a lighter cyan than the previous navy blue, which still remains at her roots and on her ears.
Those are the facts. Now, there could be any number of reasons for her unique traits.
The doylist reason is the easiest: she was designed to look smaller and more humanoid to appear to the audience as more sympathetic. Her strange eyes could just be a bit of fun character design, something to make her stand out on screen. No biggie.
The watsonian reasons are a lot more compelling to me though.
She could very well be quite young for a basilisk. Perhaps their eyes change shape and lose some of their color as they grow up. Perhaps the neck becomes less distinct as they get older. Perhaps even after the 3+ year timeskip before the epilogue, Vee was still prepubescent for a basilisk.
Perhaps the various basilisks are representative of different species within the same family (ex. the Inspector is called a "greater basilisk", but the others are just referred to as "basilisks"), and Vee's unique traits are staples of whatever specific species she is (I first came across this theory in A Blight on Bonesborough, by GeminiAlchemist, and they proposed "fat-tailed basilisk" as the name of Vee's species, mostly for the sake of a gag)
One of the more interesting theories is that she's only half basilisk. I wasn't the one to come up with it, but I don't remember who was, so for that I apologize, but basically, there was a theory going around for a little while after her introduction, that Vee was actually the bastard child of one of the other basilisks and Warden Wrath. The biggest point of evidence was the yellow pupils, a trait only shared between Vee and Wrath, as well as the fact that Wrath was clearly involved in the basilisk project, as shown in Vee's flashbacks in Yesterday's Lie. It's not my favorite theory by any means, but it's a super interesting one, very angsty.
My personal theory, however, and the theory on which I base a few of my other Vee headcanons, is that all the myriad differences between Vee and the other basilisks can be explained away by a simple case of sexual dimorphism in the basilisk species. "Number 5" was simply the only "male" basilisk shown on screen.
Now, what's the evidence for this theory? There is none! As with all the best headcanons, there's no real reason it should be true, but there's ALSO no definitive evidence it isn't true.
So, Number 5 escaped the labs, wandered into the Human Realm, took the form of the only human he'd seen, and spent 3 months at summer camp incidentally trying out being a girl. Turns out, she liked it! So when the time came to give Luz back her identity, Vee made her own new form a girl too.
Now, this headcanon comes with some... caveats? Complications? Sprinkles of realism? I like to imagine some extraneous silly little plot points surrounding this.
Gonna mention 'nads & stuff in purple, so skip past it if you're squeamish about people having body parts or whatever.
When Vee took on Luz's form, she didn't really know what was going on under all those clothes, so she improvised, and kept things as close to her basilisk form as possible. It was partly to conserve magic during the shift, and partly just because she couldn't imagine what to put there. This meant she had a dick, and probably a pretty funny-looking one, too, until she came across a human health textbook and got a better picture of what that whole situation is supposed to look like.
Eventually, during an accident with someone in the Cabin 7 crew (probably standard "woops, didnt realize you were changing in here" shenanigans), someone catches her with her pants down, and she accidentally makes them think Luz is trans. A silly little mixup, definitely no consequences in the future, for sure.
After this, Vee ends up learning about pride flags and their meanings, and starts collecting those things like trading cards. She is staggeringly queer. I tend to think of her as bi/pan/demi-rose, genderqueer, genderfluid (usually on a sliding scale between fem and neutral, but outside that range often enough to be noteworthy), and polyam (in theory, anyways, but even by the epilogue she's still only had one partner, Masha. Granted, she's only maybe 18 by then, so she's got a LOT of time left to try things out), but because that's So Many Labels, she tends to simplify down to Queer. Am I projecting? Yeah, a little. Maybe a lot. So what?
Anyways, when Luz comes back and Vee picks out her own human form, she mostly performs a 1-1 translation from her basilisk form to her human form (matching her standing height, size, approximate face shape, etc), and in so doing, takes on a few typically-masculine characteristics (like a mostly-flat, somewhat-wide chest, bodyfat mostly at her belly, and of course, a (normal, human) dick (most of the time, anyways; she is a shapeshifter, and can do whatever she wants forever)), resulting in her rather androgynous appearance. If her human form is gonna be her, it's gonna reflect her truth: she wasn't always a girl, but she is now. In the epilogue, her human form looks a bit more feminine/less androgynous than before (most notably with wider hips), as if she'd been on HRT for long enough to see some changes.
Now, I've also got all manner of general Basilisk Biology Headcanons, such as how shapeshifting works (magic is used to perform transformations, and reverting to their natural form doesn't use any; holding a transformation only burns calories, not magic; transformations are holistic, inside-and-out, with the two exceptions being the brain and whatever organ stores collected magic), how magical hunger works (it doesn't quite exist, they're not vampires, eating/draining magic is just a thing they Can do in order to transform, not a thing they Have to do to live; however, when a basilisk is hungry, it begins burning through its magic to stave off malnutrition, causing them to seek out magically dense food (really just magic in general, kinda maladaptive like humans' sugar cravings)), how mass distribution works when they transform (they retain their weight when they take on new forms, which limits their transformed size by how far they can compress/decompress their mass. this is part of why the Inspector was so hungry; they were near the limits of how far they could compress, and burning through calories like crazy to stay that way), their natural habitat (fins on their tails suggest they're at least semi-aquatic, but the fact that they stayed on the Boiling Isles as they fled from Belos suggests that they're not immune to (and thus not native to) the Boiling Sea, therefore I propose that they were native to lakes, the only bodies of water shown not to be boiling all the time. also they use their shapeshifting to change their bouyancy as they dive for mollusks or whatever), reproduction (internal fertilization, followed by egg laying; they can change their physical sex pretty much at will, because they're shapeshifters, but if it's not their "natural" form, it still consumes magic to get into that form and burns extra calories to hold the form; fertilization and pregnancy tends to go quite poorly if a basilisk changes/reverts to a form that doesn't have the proper equipment for whatever child they're currently bearing), and so on (basilisk eyes are adapted for underwater, leaving them relatively nearsighted unless transformed to be otherwise, and they have a short-term photographic memory to make assembling accurate disguises on the fly easier/possible), but I don't really feel the need to go tooooo into detail with all that >.>
12. What do you consider the most memorable scene? Why?
That's a very tough choice, between the graveyard fight in Thanks to Them (Very intense. Very beautiful, very powerful) and the Lumity dance in Enchanting Grom Fright (Very romantic. Very beautiful, very powerful). They both basically defined the fandom brainrot after their respective releases, and unlike the various season finales, there was little else cutting in to interrupt and distract from them. Just tasty, tasty action, one at the breathtaking height of fluff, and the other in the soul-crushing depths of angst.
A close third, to whichever one of those is only second-best, would be the duel for the portal key in Eclipse Lake (Very dramatic. Very beautiful, very powerful). Another big action scene, who'd'a thunk it, and another angsty one, too.

Disguised forms for the other Basilisks!
(Including my interpretation of Number II's appearance)
+ headcanons, as well as backstory for my AU highlighted in green.
Number II, aka Tulip🌷
Tumblr media
Age≈ late 20's/early 30's (~15 years older than Vee)
Goes by They/Them, Is the second oldest of the experimented Basilisks. They firsthand witnessed Number One(Greater basilisk that attacks Hexide)'s descent into madness and animalistic hunger. They were scared of what they could become, so they fought extra hard to retain their sanity, vowing to protect their younger kin. Tulip often risked taking punishments from the captors in the other's stead.
Tumblr media
(Hight comparison for Tulip's true form (Vee for reference)
At around 15 years old, Tulip hears scouts talk about a new test subject that hatched recently and will soon be ready for experiments. Tulip breaks out and rescues the infant number five. A month of laying low later, and they are both hiding in a cave. Tulip finds a pool of Titan's blood trapped deep within, and they both enter into the human realm.
Tulip can't stay. They know they need to protect Treble and Ivy. So they watch in the shadows as Vee is taken into the care of a couple of humans before leaving her behind, where she can grow up in a place far from the Emperor's grasp. They absorb the remaining magic in the portal, severing this temporary link so that nobody can follow their child.
🎼Treble & Ivy🌿
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ages≈ Mid twenties
Treble: She/Her, Ivy: He/They
I got the idea to name her Treble from The Angel of the Owl house, by OwlHouseAngel on A03. I thought fit well, considering she's playing Eda's Citern in the finale, and the Idea of a basilisk playing instruments sounds cool. (even inspired some things for my AU)
Both were created from the same set of samples, making them almost like twins. They've got a close-knit sibling bond, very protective of each other. Treble gets headstrong and does risky things like attack coven scouts. Ivy often has to reign Treble in to prevent her from being too reckless. He tends to take an overly cautious approach to anything new.
I'm still not entirely sure how they play into the AU, but they meet Vee and are introduced to Camila to be accepted into their family
Tumblr media
I loved this shot when I first saw it, I'm glad to see at least someone in the crew cares about them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
& 🌺Viola "Vee" Noceda
I like to think she has a collection of different sweaters and chooses to wear them to keep her warm. Basilisks are mostly cold-blooded but passivly use up their magic to keep warm in cold temperatures. Vee likes to conserve energy by dressing warm during the colder months
She ended up in the human realm thanks to Tulip and was quickly adopted by the Nocedas. Not knowing about her origins, she's horrified learning what her kin has gone through.
She's less timid when confronting danger and hasn't gone through her canon trauma (minus a few fears like sharp objects and dark basements from ). She does, however, have trauma and grief from Manny's sickness and death.

Been thinking more about basilisk!Dazai and human!Chuuya lately and will probably write something eventually so here I go with more headcanons:
Dazai having an affinity for warm baths and soaking in the tub inhaling the steam. He'd love going to the beach and walking along the shore as well. He'd also really like rolling around in the warm sand and getting his feet wet by the water.
He's down to do anything by the beach because the sand and the sea salt on the wind feels so nice to him so they often have date nights on the beach making little campfires and roasting marshmallows. Also, volleyball...building sandcastles...trying to surf...I say trying because I don't think Dazai has very good sea legs when he's bipedal. I think he'd have coordination issues—falling into the water a lot (and doesn't even mind it)
When he's not in his human form, he sheds his skin much like a snake and the cycle reflects in his human form: after shedding, in his human form his skin is silky smooth, hair fluffier, his eyes crystal clear, and he doesn't wear as many bandages to cover his skin because the scales recede. But the longer the cycle goes on up until it's time to shed again, his skin grows rougher (and he wears a lot more bandages), there's a cloudiness in his eyes, and he's sensitive to light and sounds and just wants to curl up in bed.
Chuuya going out to get medicine at the pharmacy for Dazai thinking he's ill but Dazai's gone when Chuuya returns and there's a note by the bed that 'something came up' and Dazai needed to leave, aka his shitty excuse to go back into the sea to actually shed his skin because it's agony sustaining his human form.
Chuuya finds out about the truth either when Dazai's acting really weird and locking himself in a room and refusing to come out because he lost a contact lenses and doesn't want to kill Chuuya, or something really mundane like Dazai gets something in his eye, it makes his eye water, loosens the contact lenses, and some poor person just happened to be looking at him and was petrified on the spot
Chuuya feeling the subtle fluctuations in Dazai's body temperature. Sometimes Dazai's a little cooler without the lights on or the heat going. Or in the winter. He'd love being bundled in heating blankets during the winter. Chuuya turning on a little heating lamp on the nightstand and Dazai just kinda scooting closer and snuggling next to it.
Chuuya sometimes hearing on the news about the Tokyo Bay's waters being unusually turbulent that time of year and the sea life being restless in response to Dazai's fluctuating emotions. No one thinks it's an ancient creature at hand, just unusual weather patterns. Stressed Dazai just putting everything around him on edge—fishermen have a hard time leaving the ports, and more wildlife is seen beached on the shores.
Dazai brings a piece of treasure from the depths to subtly test Chuuya to see if he's actually pure hearted or might be just faking it and waiting to submit to human greed. Dazai's seen it happen countless times so when Chuuya's in awe and doesn't even want to touch it because he feels like he might disturb some ancient treasure, Dazai's heart swells a lil bit and makes him more curious about Chuuya.
Chuuya starts having vivid dreams of the sea more often the longer they're together; he's like seeing through Dazai's eyes in his dreams.
When Chuuya does put all the pieces together and realizes what Dazai is after extensive research, he goes to the shore one late night when it's silent and there's no activity to talk to the water and try to coax Dazai into resurfacing when he thinks Dazai's either not there, ignoring him, or maybe Chuuya had it wrong all along, and Chuuya just talks to the ocean in the hopes his voice carries and Dazai hears. Dazai just hearing Chuuya say that not all humans are bad. And that Chuuya really loved him from the bottom of his heart. That he's human, so he can't stick around forever, but that he forgives Dazai and he knows loneliness too.
Dazai doesn't resurface immediately because he's not in his human form and doesn't want to harm Chuuya, but the sky clears, the constant rain lets up, the ocean calms, and Chuuya hears about it on the news how it's the first beautiful day in a while in Yokohama and it's a metaphor for Dazai finding peace

Realistically, Ominis would never ever ever go near any of it and would do everything to make sure no one ever could, but he’d be the perfect person to open the Chamber of Secrets. He’s a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin, he’s a Parselmouth, and his blindness protects him from the fatal gaze of the Basilisk. He’s really the perfect candidate.

So, I was thinking about how Vee’s siblings are at the University of Wild Magic now.
Tumblr media
Now, of course, basilisks are feared on the Boiling Isles because they drain/eat magic. Which made me wonder if they were staying there for protection, as the University is controlled by people who are not prejudiced to them.
But I just realized!!!
They’re security staff!!!!!
Not just in the “guard the Headmaster” sense, either!
Think about it. Even in a controlled setting, magic has the potential to go hair wire and become dangerous.
In the highly experimental University of Wild Magic, however?
Student: Um, is that supposed to be smoking?
Eda: Yeah, no. *shouts* Code Buffet!!!
*basilisks come slinking down for num nums*

I've been reading a lot of time travel fics, and most of them have Harry or Voldemort or Sirius time traveling.
I say let's have a fic with Ginny
Give me a 1st year Ginny who has enough confidence in herself to go talk to somebody about the voice in her head.
Who resists far longer because she doesn't need Tom for confidence and can recognize hes grooming her. Who already did this once and has built up a tolerance.
Give me a Ginny who works to make Harry's life easier from the sidelines, not caught up in hero worship like she was the 1st time, but also recognizing that the love she had with him might not happen this time and letting it go.
Give me a Ginny who speaks up about the rumors, tells off people when they talk behind peoples backs and listens when someone rants.
Give me a Ginny who notices when Draco starts slipping away, because that happened to her too and she won't let it happen to him.

The other members of the Noceda family coming to see Camila for Christmas or something like that and remaining there for like a week and realizing that not only there is clearly a “before and after” with the family pictures now including two new kids, but that these new apparently completely normal kids have just something slightly off about them (uncanny valley effect, Vee and Hunter aren’t human) and they start wondering what is actually up as Vee and Hunter fail more more to act as Perfect Human™️ (“they just came from a bad home” said Camila, after Abuela saw Hunter dip his hand in boiling water to stir the pasta; “Oh it’s just a genetic defect” said Camila after Tio saw Vee do the vertical eyelids thing) and one day everything crashes down when a very sleepy Vee who just woke up forgot about turning Human cue chaos ensuring and a lot of yelling (imagine explaining to a old christian lady that yes you adopted a demon and said demon is actually the sweetest kid ever and wouldn’t hurt a fly)

a) gortash has dribble's biography on his shelf for some reason b) durge & gortash communicate in a cipher
⇒ it's a book cipher!!! they're using the book as a key to decode their messages!! since dribbles is baldurian it probably includes a fair bit about the city so it'd work pretty well for communicating meeting places (and the clown-related vocabulary would add a fun lil twist)

Demon Realm Human Realm Exchange Program Headcanons
for @vee-week Day 7: Demon Realm Human Realm Exchange Program
Gus' brainchild, of course
Gus really wanted to bring in Vee since she's a demon who (mostly) successfully masquerades as a human
(unrelated, but Gus and Vee have had friendly competitions pitting shapeshifting against illusion magic)
Vee needed time before she felt comfortable enough going back to the Demon Realm, but 1) wanted to reunited with Number Three and Number Four and 2) her Cabin 7 friends wanted to see where she came from
members of the Human Appreciation Society, Number Three, Number Four, and Vee's Cabin 7 friends were among the first program participants (Masha is very interested in oracle magic)
Vee co-authored the guide for demons and witches visiting the Human Realm; Luz wrote most of the guide for humans visiting the Demon Realm
Eda had some suggestions for the guide for visiting the Human Realm, but some major corrections were necessary
both guides include sections about edible foods/nutrition
the new Boiling Isles government now has a protocol in case any humans accidentally find their way there through random Titan blood (with the stipulation that it should be updated at least every 10 years)
developing the Human Realm Demon Realm Exchange Program gave Vee, Gus, and Luz some internship credit at Hexside
Boiling Isles President Raine Whispers is a big supporter, and with Vee and Luz's help, has successfully brought some bards (and Eda) to Human Realm concerts

Hunter head canons #4
These head canons focus on Hunter home life. They next one will focus on Hunter life in Gravefield in general.
After the finale I imagine Hunter actually staying in the Human realm for bit since things would be pretty chaotic in the demon realm. Especially regarding the Emperors coven. Realistically I can’t imagine many witches or demons happy with the ex Golden Guard, Belos right hand man walking around freely, especially with emotions running high. You know almost being killed then having the collector take over, then almost being killed again.
Just imagine all the legal and ethic issues, (will get to this another time)
Camila basically being Hunter’s mom now. I personally don’t think Darius should be Hunter parental figure. I think Hunter should be with someone who hasn’t harmed him, especially after years of trauma and another major traumatic experience happening to him (looking at you Thanks to them). Hunter can reconnect and be friends with Darius another time. I also think Darius would be more focused fixing the demon realm then accommodate Hunters needs. Right now Hunter needs a guardian that will give him what he needs.
Anyways
Once hunter moves into the Human realm, I imagine Vee staying with him in the basement for a while since he’s afraid of being alone. (Everyone is scared of leaving him alone too). I imagine they develop a close bond with each other, different from how they bond with others, since they are both basically Belos, abused, illegal creations. After awhile they trust him to be alone.
Luz often stays at the demon realm and on those nights, Vee and Hunter swap rooms. Vee liking the basement due to how open it is and Hunter liking to smaller room. I imagine Hunter liking cramped, smaller spaces like closets due to how open the throne room was. Vee liking open spaces due to being forced into cages. Vee probably also constantly keeps doors open and probably showers with the door open too. (Might do some Vee head canons too!)
Mirrors had to be covered for a bit due to Hunter being unable to stand the sight of himself again. They teach him how to love himself again like how he did in “Thanks to them”. Though they do sometimes catch him staring deeply at his scars or brown eyes.
Him a Vee are often spotted hanging out with each other, with Vee often leaning on Hunter. When on the couch she’ll rest on him or lay her head on his lap. In return, during the sleep overs, Vee will curl around Hunter. I imagine Hunter being both a big and little spoon.
Hunter often goes to bed with Camila on bad nights. After all he never received that comfort before in the castle. He’s hesitant at first due to being “too old” to be resting with an adult. Camila insist that no one is to big for their moms. Hunter definitely doesn’t cry at this.
Different bonding stuff with Hunter Noceda :)
We all know that Darius taught Hunter to sew properly and it ended up becoming a hobby of his. Camila sees this a teaches Hunter to knit as well. Soon Hunter is knitting all sorts of things like beanies, sweaters, bags, etc. Hunter learns other crafts like crocheting, embroidery, weaving, ect. That boy is very crafty.
Camila shows that Hunter doesn’t just need to sew cloths but that he can also sew things like stuff animals, clothes for animals, and other neat stuff. He quickly becomes obsessed with making clothes and accessories for Palismen
Hunter starts volunteering at the Vet clinic and animal shelter with Vee and Camila and quickly realizes he has a bit of a affinity with Animals..
Hunter and Vee both like watching TV and bond together that way. They both like horror due to them being a bit desensitized but won’t watch films that focus on torture (saw sequels, hostel, ect) but they do like 90s and 80s horror. However they stoped watching Horror that has to due with possession after the ‘incident.’ They also like comedies though Hunter gets confused by the jokes and Vee has to explain it to him (even if she also doesn’t understand, she tries).
Hunter and Camila bond with 70s and 80s punk rock music. Bands like Green Day, Sex Pistols, Misfits, ect. Luz introduces him to the world of fandom music like FNAF or BATIM and he quickly becomes hooked. Also vocaloid. Vee likes metal and shows him all sorts of genres and songs, from alternative metal like Korn and System of the down to death metal like Cannibal corpse and Carcass. He prefers Punk but will happily listen to the music with her.
Hunter manages to drag Camila back into her Cosmic Frontier addiction.
They all go to cons together! Comic con, Anime con, sci fi con, ect. They do family cosplays!
Luz and Hunter draw together. Luz is surprised to see Hunter can actually sketch pretty good. He isn’t very good with fine details or color but he drew stuff in journals relating to wild magic, flapjack, Belos and battle plans. He good at sketching buildings, beasts, and plants. He can draw witches forms real good but struggles in finer details like faces, clothes, ect. Unlike luz’s character heavy art. While luz draws with pencils, markers, color pencils, and acrylic paints. Hunter is a charcoal, ink, and color pencil and water color type if guy. He draws a lot of animals, especially wolves. He makes to many wolf oc’s. He has folders full of drawings and extensive lore on them. Luz teaches him how to make drawings expressive, in return he teaches her how to draw buildings. They make collaborative art with Hunter doing the backgrounds and Luz adding characters.
Luz gets hunter hooked on Warrior cats and Balto.
Luz and Hunter exercise together. Or at least try to. Luz as she got used to an active life style in the boiling isles and Hunter due to being used to vigorous training. However this oftentimes turned into ‘Hunter basically torturing Luz’ session as he can be intense. Like getting up at 5:30 am and being like “you wanna run 6 miles with me” or “lets do 20 circuits”. Luz at first tries keeping up at first in disbelief before noticing Hunter also tends to overwork himself during these sessions. After a while she and the others convince him he doesn’t need to due all this, especially if it’s hurting him. Soon he starts waking up at 6:20 am and works out in a easier way to maintain. He and Luz are now able to go on comfortable jogs and hikes together.
Luz teaches Hunter and Vee how to ride bikes after realizing neither of them could. Hunter takes his bike safely very seriously.
Camila teaches Hunter to drive and he gets very excited as it’s like flying a ship. The whole family often go on drives together and blast on music.
Hunter becomes a history nerd with both Human history from do research on Gravefield and the Demon realm after him and Lilith discover historical text that Belos hid away. Hunter learns more about the history of Grimwalkers rather then just the biology and myths. (Spoiler alert, it’s not a very happy, will dive into it). He tells Lilith a lot about Human realm history. They slowly become friends through info dumping.
Hunter learning how to cook with Camila. He makes food for his friends and family! He’s decent at first, after all this guy definitely had survival training. He probably knows how to gut and skin certain beasts. Likely offered to do it for Camila when she talked about needing to buy food. She kindly declined his offer.
Hunter loves Camila’s cooking, he never had such homemade meals. He often had MRE’s or fancy cooked meals when attending dinner with Belos sometimes. Those were hit or miss. Sometimes going great or sometimes ending with him being poisoned or abused in some sort of way. When Luz says she wants fast food, Hunter is like “why? Mo- Camilas food is so good”. He loves his mamas cooking
Hunter making stuff animals infused with herbs and flowers (like lavender) and potions for calming effects. He makes them for his family and friends. He even starts selling some in the demon realm when tensions calm down.
That’s if for now lol. Sorry for any spelling or grammar issues I’ll edit this in the future.

SCOM Micro Writing Notes:
I know I’ve said this a few times but I REALLY had intended for Vee to be much more present in this story, but every time I went to write her she was sort of annoyed at Hunter and wanted to keep her distance.
Tumblr media
In general she thinks he’s the dumbest smart person she knows and will tell him that to his face.
Also, Hunter sort of perjured himself to protect her.

Skeletal Anatomy of a Basilisk
I've been thinking about Basilisk anatomy stuff for my brainstorming, and I thought it would be cool to show what I think their skeletons would be like, cause snakes are cool...
Tumblr media
yeah, and I wanted to practice drawing bones and body shapes (fun that I don't have to worry about drawing the pelvis, that thing is such a wierd shape), I've never drawn so many ribs before, but thats what snakes are like.
Tumblr media
I know many people have different interpretations on what Vee being smaller/more humanoid than the other basilisks means. Some people say she's a different species (lesser basilisk, hybrid etc), But I always got the impression she was much younger than the rest of them.

Apparently, certain kinds of pythons are able to regulate their body temp and generate heat in special conditions.
I think Basilisks are naturally cold blooded, but can expend magic in order to keep their body temperature high in cold climates. Maybe some who have lived in cold climates for a long period of time naturally have adaptations, like increased body fur and cold resistant scales. The idea of Basilisks being able to adapt to their unique situations is such a cool concept, I wish we knew more about them in the show.
I also like drawing Vee with a more realistic appearance while also staying true to her canon proportions in relation to the other characters.
Tumblr media
I liked finding a balace between more humanoid skulls, and more Boa/Python skulls, I think what I came up with was pretty cool looking. They can definitely open their jaws super wide, as shown by the inspector (Or at least greater Basilisks can):

I had fun on these drawings, and coming up with ideas, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
In an earlier post I said I was brainstorming for a potential fanfic. It's been super slow and I can't get my brain to start writing anything. That's always been my weakness, same with school writing. Maybe once summer comes, I can practice more with writing for fun and actually get somewhere. Just average struggles, IDK where I'm going with this and why I'm writing this down.

Semi interesting thing I noticed. When Vee slithers around, she doesn’t move the way snakes, legless lizards, or even an eel on land. Smaller snakes will slither and move in an “s” formation, this lets them move quite fast. Larger snakes like pythons and anacondas don’t really slither, but rather use their belly muscles to drag themselves across the ground. Vee doesn’t really either of these. Instead she seems to do a sort of shimmying motion, like some parts of her are uncomfortable to move or don’t bend the way they should. This could be due to her size and length, making that the easiest way to move, but looks like she is trying to crawl the way a python does, but parts of here tail are stuck in the slithering position. This could be due to her being stuck in an enclosed space her whole life, with her spine or muscles not growing in the way they should have, or it could have even been broken at some time in her life. Of course, I could be looking too far into this, but we barely have any footage of her to really know. I’m sure if this was the case, she would have said something, because I’m sure something like that would be very painful. Just rambling about random things.
