I've been fascinated by this question for ages: every major interview, ask Liam Gallagher what music he likes, and he'll just say the Beatles and the Stone Roses, those two, and do his best to give the impression that he basically only listens to them. but in quieter interviews or when he’s just talking on camera, he’ll talk about others as well, and I've been taking some notes:

Turn It Right Around

To suggest Spencer was dreading the arrival of the newest member of the team, would be an understatement. He forced himself to wori earlier than the rest of the team, with the sole intention of sitting at his desk, anxiously bouncing his knees beneath the table and staring at the glass doors that would grant him no more than a few seconds to adjust to the sight of the new member of the team before he would be expected to introduce himself. The young genius had determined that getting to work early was far better than risking arriving at a point where the new team member was already there, had already introduced themselves to the rest of the team, and in doing so, made a spectacle of his own introduction. That was a fate worse than death.

With each member of the team that arrived for the day, Spencer’s heart jumped. He was anxious about having to meet someone new, having someone else to explain his weirdness to, someone else to misunderstand how his mind works and someone else to cut his rambles off short when they inevitably got sick of whatever statistic or piece of trivia he had elected to verbalize; those were his biggest concerns, all culminating under the umbrella term of one fear in particular: what if the new member of the team simply didn’t like him?

The rest of the team had settled at their desks and begun to relax, gossiping about who the new arrival could be, what they might be like. Spencer was too anxious to partake in their theorizing, but when he fixed his gaze back on those glass doors, his heart that had previously been jumping periodically, skipped a beat entirely.

You. With a bright smile and kind eyes, immediately greeting everyone with excited introductions, and Spencer scrambled from his desk, his heart having migrated to his throat. Your smile traveled from person to person, encouraging their smiles in return, until your kind eyes landed on Spencer, and he felt his heartbeat in his suddenly clammy palms.

“Hello! It’s lovely to meet you, I’m (Y/N)!” You introduced yourself to him, and he nodded, concluding in a microsecond that your name was the most beautiful he’d ever heard, regardless of the number of other people he’d encountered who may have shared your name. It was yours, then.

“H-Hello, it’s, it’s uh, lovely to meet you, too, I’m Doctor Spencer Reid.” He introduced himself in return, stammering and blushing and wiping his sweating palms on his trousers before he held a hand out for you to shake, much to the shock of the rest of the team, who shared equally wide-eyed glances.

“Spencer. Good name.” You complimented, shaking his hand gently, and Spencer was stunned to detect no malice or sarcasm in your voice at all. Did you like his name, too? He wondered if you could feel his erratic heartbeat as you shook his hand.

“Thanks. Yours is nice, too.” Spencer managed to say back to you, giving you a shy smile.

The rest of the team had given the two of you some space, almost afraid to burst whatever bubble had formed around you and made the resident genius float in such a way.

“Thank you, Spencer.” You answered, blessing him with a soft smile of your own.

Momentary silence was too much for Spencer, and he quickly blurted out the first thing that came to his head. “D-Did you know a Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin study found that by talking with people and processing their social cues, you wake up those parts of your brain which allow for better cognitive function? I-In fact, the study found that with as little as ten minutes of contact and conversation with a new person, brain stimulation led to improved mental cognition. You are basically giving your brain a workout and expanding the ability to learn to accept new ideas and change preconceived notions.” Spencer was speaking quickly, perhaps too quickly, and his face flushed. Despite feeling more confident in his ability to talk to you when he was reciting information he had memorized, that confidence shattered under the - ironically - preconceived notion that you would, like everyone else he encountered, be bored, or worse, disturbed by his sudden outburst of knowledge.

Much to Spencer’s absolute awe, though, the soft smile on your face only widened, and you looked up at him with stars in your eyes.

“That’s so cool, Spencer!” You began to say, and you parted your lips to continue speaking, just as Aaron Hotchner called for everyone to join him at the round table. You glanceed back up at Spencer with that same smile, sending his heart soaring. “If you’ve got any more facts like that, I’d love to hear them, but for now, we’d better get going.”

Spencer nodded. “Yeah, I’ll, uh, I’ll be right there. You go on ahead.” He urged, and you nodded back at him, disappearing up the stairs.

Taking a deep breath in an effort to compose himself, Spencer headed for the coffee machine in the staff kitchen, but on surpassing two steps in that direction, he abruptly turned back on himself and speed walked over his desk. There sat the cup of coffee he had already made, 10 minutes prior. Picking it up, he quickly made his way to the round table to join the rest of the team, mentally scolding himself, until he saw your smile again, waiting for him.

After all, who can blame his eidetic memory for misplacing the information of having already made himself a coffee, in the midst of his heart leaping out of his chest and running towards you?

a/n: ahhh im so sorry this took so long!

the express had experienced all sorts of worlds within the galaxy, some not even taking form of planets but rather ships and such. each and every one housing a variety of colourful characters and deep history that spurred the current state it resided in. but they all had one thing in common, they all had a page in the expresses data bank.

the memories however, travelled with the trailblazer that experienced them. and after trailblazing for so long nothing seemed out of the ordinary when the express had an unexpected malfunction and needed to dock at the nearest planet - it wouldn't be the first time. however one would only need to take a step outside to realise that something indeed was different.

you were aimlessly wandering around the vast halls behind the court, looking for something to satiate your boredom. recently the lack of trials had bored you half to death and more annoyingly gave you less things to think about so, more often your mind would drift the the prophecy.

but you wanted to shake these horrid thoughts and push them to the back of your mind. and your wish was soon granted when you heard the voice of fontaine's ludex call your name from behind you. your initial reaction was to turn around with the biggest grin and address the man in front of you but he looked more somber, more serious than usual.

he kept his words short and brief and urged you to follow him to help with a situation that he claimed 'shouldn't get out of hand' or 'into public news'. and while you did follow immediately, your mind resurfaced the ideas of the prophecy and assumed the worst - maybe today was the day?

and as much as you tried to force yourself to not assume the worst, you couldn't stop the rapid pit of dread forming in your stomach.

you were your nations archon. and so it seemed only appropriate that you were the first person to greet the newcomers from beyond your world. all your boredom soon dissipated as you became rather eager and intrigued about your nations new visitors - but all questions would have to wait until you got the express members into your proper office.

and you had managed to get them there with minimum stares and whispering from your nations residents. you felt as though this issue was definitely better tackled within the confines of your private office. and based on what the lady named himeko had briefly told you, it seems you made the right call.

you had been introduced to all the members, seeing they would be staying here for quite a bit it'd only be polite - you may have additionally asked alot of questions as it wasn't everyday you met people that travelled through space. you also told them a tad about yourself and offered some background information about your lovely nation.

you welcomed them to look around and told them to not hesitate to ask for any help. in turn, himeko told you about the expresses data bank and gestured toward dan heng who you had been told compiles most of it. you expressed how you would be honoured you nation would be included.

over the next few days the express came to learn that they would not be leaving for a few weeks, but out of all the express members the one you had encountered the most was dan heng. he had gotten himself quite well acquainted with neuvillette and so you saw him often - mostly on his quest to fill out the data bank. and from your very first interaction it seemwd as though you both were doomed to get along.

over the first week, you and dan heng often conversed to the point ehere it seemed as though you had known him your entire life. neither of you could explain it but there was something there, something that made it easy for the two of you to converse - much to the expresses shock.

dan heng was quite surprised himself but he had grown accustomed to your presence in an alarmingingly short period of time, but there must've been a reason for this right?

he had a very strong, natural sense of perception - so much so that he could tell something was bothering you. no amount of happy go lucky attitude could fool him into thinking something didn't plague your mind constantly and because he had barely known you, he didn't say anything. it wasn't his place, he would tell himself.

but he could hardly ignore it when he walked in to your sobbing form. it had only been two weeks and the express was near ready to depart, so dan heng wanted to collect some final information. he had wanted to know more about the residents and who better to ask than you. he found neuvillette and asked where you were, he was told your office. when he arrived at your office he knocked, knocked again and knocked again. but each time was met with silence, normally he would've turned around and assumed he went the wrong way but he had heard sniffling on the other side of the door, so he opened it.

your head immediately whipped around upon hearing your office door creak open and you were left shocked at the sight of dan heng. you immediately swiped your eyes of any lingering tears and asked him in a meek voice that he should 'come back at a better time' and how he should 'seek out the ludex for anything at the moment'. dan heng wanted to protest, sure he wasn't the best at comforting people but it was clear that you needed some support. but he left.

and that wasn't the last time. only a few days later did he re-emerge in your office just to catch you crying as you stared aimlessly at the mirror that, for a brief moment, he swore had another reflection in eerily similar to you. now more than ever did he want to help. he had briefly heard you mumbling about some prophecy and he could immediately gather that this was some sort of burden you carried.

now, he knew a thing or two about carrying burdens, he knew how tormenting and stressful they could be - he did have frequent nightmares afterall. and even though he had know you for a mere few weeks, he wanted to help. afterall, wasn't it the trailblazers mission to help those across the galaxy?

unfortunately himeko and welt helped remind him of a painful reminder. once the express was up and running, they would leave and the likelihood of him ever seeing you would be close to none. and no matter how much he would talk about atleast trying to help now, if you didn't let anyone know what was your burden, no-one could help.

it was the last day in your nation, for the express and for you. the express were set to part and dan heng wanted to bid you farewell but only neuvillette showed to bid them farewell. neuvillette expressed how you had told him to relay your goodbye message. but even so, neuvillette also knew some of the prophecy and he encouraged them to go despite their joint insistence on thanking you - if they didn't leave soon, they too would be washed away in fontaine waters.

but the express crew knew something was up by now. and very reluctantly neuvillette told them of the prophecy after their insistence that they travelled worlds to help people and so if they could do anything they would. neuvillette expressed how nothing could be done. but dan heng wasn't so deterred.

however, it seemed as though the celestia herself had taken a form of pity. the prophecy didn't come true. and despite your trial going ahead and you being found guilty, you weren't to be executed. neuvillette still gained full control of hydro and sovereignty and forgave the sins of the residents of your nation but in turn he found a way to forgive yours aswell.

due to dan heng's insistence of helping you, it spurred the rest of the express to want to try just as much. and so neuvillette was offered with the idea of you joining the express. this way you could be free from the curse and still live out the rest of your days, and neuvillette allowed it. it was still your final decision however but you gladly accepted.

you still felt sorrow of having to leave some people behind, namely neuvillette, but he encouraged you to go - he would've of been in much pain to see you die. and your connection with dan heng seemed to pull through once more. as the instant you saw him you ran to give him the biggest hug anyone could offer in thanks for everything he did and he gladly reciprocated the action.

So after obsessing over Arachnis Prime and reading @sonicasura's bat Optimus idea I just was really, really digging it and was inspired to make my own AU similar to it

So basically in this AU both Optimus and Elita fall back into the cavern; Elita's power times out like in canon but Optimus manages to catch her as she's falling. The issue is all that does is put too much sudden weight and tension on his grappling hook causing it to pull out of the rock and send them both tumbling down. The explosion separates the two of them, sending Optimus even deeper in. While Elita becomes Blackarachnia as she does in canon, during and after her change she's looking for Optimus to see if he survived, eventually finding him in a terrible state. He'd run into the cavern's other denizens, massive vampiric and carnivorous bats. He managed to fight off and kill a few but not without serious damage, bordering on death.

In a bid to save him, but also for the selfish reason of not wanting to be a freak alone, she makes him a techno-organic like herself. From there, Optimus lives up to his name for the first little while, practicing with his new alt and eventually managing to fly out of the cavern to watch for any Autobot ships, believing Sentinal will surely come back with or at least send help since he didn't come back for them originally, eventually realizing that Blackarachnia is right, no one is coming.

Well, no Autobots at least. The two get picked up by the Decepticons, Optimus being very much not about the idea but following Blackarachnia almost blindly as he still sees Elita-1 in her and basically owes her his life.

From there it's kind of all over. For a good bit he kinda just follows her around like a puppy and follows her commands; after all initially the idea is for them to return to how they once were, but eventually, Optimus will realize that Blackarachnia is no longer his beloved friend and something will happen to cause him to finally turn on her and split off into his own thing, of what I'm not sure; honestly, it'll more than likely be a build-up of things instead of one big thing.

There's also the debate of how Optimus deals with the Decepticons and basically being one for a while. On the one hand, I like sonicasura's idea of him just being a victim of circumstance. He's not a Decepticon, or in this case, he's only a Decepticon in name, he's just a man who's trying to deal with his current situation the best he can while sticking to his morals and general worldview.

On the other hand, I like the idea of Optimus realizing the flaws and downright failings of Autobot society and becoming a Decepticon for real. He doesn't agree with their morals and what they do a lot of the time, but the ideals Megatron puts forth? He can get behind those, especially since he and Elita were failed by the system they followed so doggedly while Sentinal abandoned them (as far as he's aware) and potentially still gets 'rewarded' (given the rank of Prime and his own team; Optimus would not know he's delegated to bridge repair until later if at all)

More than likely he might fall into a third option of neither, where he abandons the Decepticons like Blackarachnia does but refuses to rejoin the Autobots because of the whole debacle, likely hiding away with the Dinobots on their island.

Also as you've likely noticed I haven't quite come up with Optimus' new name? I'm partial to Chiropteras, as Chiroptera is the order bats are from. I considered going with Optimus Primal since Blackarachnia is also from Beast Wars and a lot of people used/use Tarantulas for spider Optimus before Arachnus Prime was revealed, but my biggest thing is in TFA Prime isn't technically anything special, it's just a rank, so why would he still be Prime or even make it Primal? Unless he's giving himself the rank because he feels he deserves it/is bastardizing it for his own use. I could also potentially use the name of another bat transformer in the way that Tarantulas is the name of a Predacon from Beast Wars but none of them really fit? Cause there's Nightscream, Sonar, and Nyx (and technically Noctorro but he's a bat and a bull). I could use Nocturne or Nocturnus, too.

Thinking about how the biggest reason I think the Young Justice show went with the origin they did for Wally and Barry (Wally doing the experiment Barry did, Barry doing the experiment Jay did) is because the creators of the show did not include the Speed Force. Greg Weisman does not like the idea, doesn't see the point of it (and in my opinion clearly misunderstands it) someone on Reddit did a write up on it if you wanna see all he's said here.

So what's this gotta do with the Flash origins in YJA vs comics? Well, first off, the Speed Force was something Mark Waid created to unify the Flash's powers and bring a bit of sense to them:

"It really was just a matter of trying to unify the powers. Barry and Wally's origins were identical, but Jay ostensibly got his speed by inhaling 'hard water,' a.k.a. 'ice.' I never really thought of it as 'mystical' in any real sense, just scientific --- or as scientific as you can get when you're talking about what happens on the other side of lightspeed (which was my original pitch, an idea that to this day I can remember its exact moment of birth)" (Waid from Ask Chris #317 here )

So without the Speed Force, YJA had to solve a problem Waid had solved with the Speed Force a different way. Waid chose not to or didn't have the option to change Wally's origin from being the exact same as Barry's so he made it make sense through the Speed Force, in essence, choosing Wally (and Barry and Jay and every other speedster). YJA had the option so they went a different way.

Barry was always inspired by Jay Garrick. In comics he was a lucky fanboy who got the powers of his favorite comic character and took his name. In YJA, he's not lucky, he, instead, performs the same experiment that gave Jay speed on himself (YJA Barry is simply more unhinged because what).

Wally, similarly, was also a lucky fanboy who got the powers of his favorite superhero (who happened to be the guy his aunt was dating... Very lucky). In YJA... Well it's the same as Barry again expect he's a literal child performing an experiment on himself which puts him in the hospital (comics Wally is notably fine, just wet from the chemicals).

I think it's a pretty significant change to make Barry and Wally want and grab for the superpowers of their heroes (and beg to be a hero before having those powers in Wally's case) instead of them being super fans that have powers thrust upon them. Powers they choose to use for good but not powers they chose.

And then we have Bart... See, with Bart, things are very different. They have to be. Bart's first appearance is in the exact same comic as the first appearance of the Speed Force. Getting rid of it... Basically gets rid of Bart.

Of course, he's in YJA, so that's not quite true. And, admittedly, I think there were ways to do Bart more accurately without the Speed Force... But it's hard. And YJA essentially avoided making a proper attempt at all and made a fully new character. Instead of him being raised in virtual reality while his body was speed aging due to his biological connection to the Speed Force, he is raised in a post-apocalyptic dystopia. He pretends to be chaotic, impulsive, and sorta dumb but is actually very calculating, a bit cynical, and jaded. He is an interesting character for sure... but he's definitely an original character in all but name, and you can see the character type they took inspiration from - the likes of Cable, Future Trunks (Dragon Ball), and Silver the Hedgehog, instead of his original characterization (a characterization I think is much more original and lacks a character that's similar). A final, more minor point, is that the lack of the Speed Force seems to be why he had to build his own time machine, unable to run through time as in comics.

Bart, in comics, is chaotic, whimsical, and impulsive. He was born in the far future because of some chaotic time travel-related reasons, and his father and aunt (the Tornado Twins) were killed soon after his birth. He was taken by the Earth government (in a roundabout way), run by his grandfather (who happens to be a descendant of the Thawne family... making Bart related to Professor Zoom), and instead of trying to stop his speed aging, merely observed him while raising him in a virtual reality. Iris breaks him out and they time travel to the past to get help from Wally. Through a series of events, Wally ends up handing Bart over to Max Mercury (basically the Speed Force expert) to raise cause Iris dipped and Wally is not capable of raising a teenager. Max, Bart's main parental figure, is not and cannot be in YJA because the Speed Force not existing or being known of, makes that impossible. It is the most intrinsic to his character out of all speedsters.

Much of Bart's character arc has him have to learn that life is not a video game and he does not get a do-over. There is a very powerful arc where Bart (who has this speed force power of essentially making clones of himself) loses one of his speed force clones and feels the death of his clone as if he died as well. It terrifies him. But without the Speed Force, without the powers that create that arc, this is not something that can be explored in the cartoon. YJA Bart is, in some ways, the opposite of his comic counterpart. He clearly understands death well; it's all he knows, a dying world. He likely expects to die himself traveling to the past like he does. Bart in the cartoon has to learn different lessons.

I think at the end of the day, this choice to ignore the Speed Force (and therefore the center of Flash lore since the mid 90's), is a bit disrespectful. I don't think Weisman saw it that way, of course. To him it seems he was adapting the Flash lore prior to that. Which does make some sense, seeing as Wally was Kid Flash and the Speed Force is very much tied to Wally's time as the Flash (something he never gets to be in YJA). And I am not saying I dislike Wally in this show, in fact that show is why he's one of my favorite characters. But I think it's all interesting to think about... And I do think the Flashes are much better handled in their comics, no matter the love I have for Wally in the show (except maybe the letting Barry be a dad part). But it's the nature of adaptations I suppose. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 🫡

i didnt want to be this person but i’ve been following your blog for a while and i was hoping it would change but it hasnt. I think its bold of you to say your blog has no AI when your characters are basically rip offs of existing characters or real world people, or characters you took from another user. AI is awul for artists and needs to be separated from art and this blog is basically AI with how many rip off characters you have. You say you don’t write rpf or fanfic but over half your characters are basically rip offs of existing characters or real world people (youre going to tell me that Cassius and Calypso arent ripped off from Gravity Falls, Hemlock isnt stolen from Danny Phantom, Novak is basically a subtle rpf to that one nfl quarterback in florida, the list goes on). For starters, I didn’t even want to think about this message because you didn’t even have the guts to come off anonymous to tell me you felt that way. The only reason I’m answering this is because its actually insane you think this.

Let’s bust out the crayons for this lesson, shall we? 🖍��� i’ll explain this the way i explained a similar thing to some kids at the daycare i volunteered at in college.

🖍️ "Inspired by" means you see something you like, and you use it to come up with your own ideas. It’s like seeing a cool picture of a duck, and then drawing your own duck but making it look different, maybe with different colors or wings. You use the idea, but make it yours.

🖍️ "Copying" is when you take something someone else made and do the exact same thing without changing it or making it your own. It’s like tracing that duck picture and saying it’s yours, even though someone else made it first.

So, being inspired is using an idea to create something new, and copying is just making the same thing!

Let’s look at the characters you mentioned.

Cassius and Calypso are witches. Twins. This isn’t the first time witches have appeared in media, of course. After all, Harry Potter is incredibly popular. Let’s not forget Sabrina the Teenage Witch! Also! Twins are a real life biological phenomenon! I won’t lie, the relationship Cassius and Calypso has is drawn from Gravity Falls, but if you remember the creator of that show even came out and said they were based on him and his sister. How are they mine, you ask? Well… theyre under contract with their aunt and uncle, they perform regular shows showcasing their abilities, and the biggest thing in their lore is Calypso’s deal. Calypso made a deal with a demon who she knows nothing about and hardly knows anything about what she got into but she doesnt care. As long as her brother is safe. They have their own exclusive personalities too!

Was Hemlock based off Danny Phantom? Hell yeah he was. That show was a banger. Is Hemlock a copycat of Danny Phantom? Believe it or not even though he is half ghost and half human and can shift (as is Juniper!) at his will usually, he is NOT actually Danny Phantom. Hemlock is a transgender man, he is a student, he just got his abilities at twenty one. Did I take inspiration from the show? Sure. But is Hemlock also a classical musician, an occult student, a researcher, and a study driven academic with an ironic background in ghost hunting? Yep. And guess what? He also has a whole personality!!

Let’s look at Novak, because he is one of my favorite characters ever and he’s a lot of people’s favorite character. The quarterback you’re looking for is an amazing man, really. I volunteered with that team on an internship for one of my degrees during one of his seasons and he is one of the most genuine people I’ve met! (I went to a game in January, tickets were a Christmas gift, and he actually remembered me by name and I gave him a friendship bracelet like it was the eras tour and I’m pretty sure he wore it for a while). But is Novak a copycat of him? Let’s look. See, I don’t know him (that player you’re talking about) personally! But I can tell you Novak is a linebacker which is an entirely different position. Novak is also a single father who was SA’ed (because that happens to men too) in college. He was a foster kid who went through eight homes, six of which were abusive. He was a double major in college while being a once in a lifetime player for the college football team. He would do anything for his mom, his daughter, and his loved ones without a second thought. In fact we see more lore in his book but Novak has a hefty (six figures) fund for his daughter to go to college or buy a house or whatever she may need later in life. He regularly donates to his mom’s art gallery to make sure it stays running and local artists are supported to the highest possible level. Also, interestingly, that quarterback youre talking about is very Christian (very nice about it. But very christian) and Novak is actually agnostic! Novak also retired after a few years after he acquired a really bad concussion and started having seizures. As you say, ✨the list goes on✨

As for the AI thing, because what the absolute fuck… I never use AI to write my stories. I have used ChatGPT before, but I have used it as a means to get my thoughts organized in a prompt so I can write. Other that that, all me baby.

What are you thoughts on Danny Boyle's Pistol? I remember you saying that you have mixed feelings and I'm curious! Always love reading about your Sex Pistols opinions :)

i think theres a lot of good and a lot of bad. its a pretty mixed bag overall

what i like about it is how humanizing it is, which is much needed when it comes to the sex pistols. its a very loving portrayal of these real kids who deserve the sympathy boyle gives them in his show. it also takes the time to show the beginnings of the band and bust some myths in the process which is always good. highlighting steve as the main character was a very smart choice on that front. i also like how it shows the complexity of the relationships between the characters. malcolm and steve's relationship is very fleshed out and i think done super well, the actors really sell it imo theyre both perfectly cast. and theres a lot of great moments between johnny and sid, johnny and steve, and one utterly fantastic moment with johnny and vivienne that almost makes up for how little vivienne is in the show. just like thomas brodie-sangster and toby wallace with malcolm and steve, anson boon puts so much effort into his performance and you can tell he adores johnny, theres a lot of complexity there even if the script is lacking much of the time

but what i didnt like is how small the world feels (where are the other bands, why do the bromley contingent play such a small role?), how it leaves out some of the most important moments in the sex pistols career, and completely side-steps what makes the sex pistols so great in the first place which is their insane amount of influence on basically everyone who encountered them

in the show the bromley contingent are all together before the sex pistols play their first concert! why!!! putting aside how historically inaccurate it is to have them all together before the first gig, its much more interesting and narratively satisfying for the bromley contingent to build up as the pistols play more and more gigs!

the clash, one of the biggest names in the long list of bands that only exist bc of the sex pistols, is mentioned in the show but theyre never on screen! it would have been a great moment to see joe strummer leave his lame pub rock band after seeing a single sex pistols concert, following them out the door and wondering if he can find a punk band to join before running into bernie rhodes. bazooka joe are there in the second episode bc they have to be but instead of seeing adam ant, who was part of bazooka joe at the time, leave his band to go join the bromley contingent bc the sex pistols very first gig made him want to change his entire life forever we just get the bazooka joe lads getting into a tussle with the pistols and thats it. goddamn it i want to see pete shelley and howard devoto driving down to london in their friend's car just to see the sex pistols and returning to manchester as the buzzcocks and setting up the lesser free trade hall concert that caused joy division, the smiths, the fall, and factory records to be formed!!!

time and time again boyle misses out on actually showing us what made the sex pistols great even tho he has many chances to do so. the show tells us that they inspire ppl and make ppls lives better but we barely see it! the most we get is one performance by siouxsie

its a show that focuses too much on the personal and not enough on the larger world around the pistols. as much as i like the personal aspects, as much as i like seeing the inner workings of their lives and their relationships to each other, what i want to see from a sex pistols biopic is the sex pistols doing what they do best: inspiring other ppl to change the world. theyre the pied pipers of punk, leading all the creative kids who know theres more for them out there off into a new world where theyre finally free to be themselves and do great things

i also would have liked to see more of how intense and fucked up being a sex pistol was by 1977. we see johnny getting stabbed and chased around after the grundy show but we dont see the real incidents of him (and paul! and jamie reid!) nearly being straight up murdered bc of god save the queen, we dont see how fucking evil the press was to him and the rest of the band. and bc of that we dont see how it affects the band to be treated like this by the public and the press which i think is crucial when it comes to wanting to humanizing the sex pistols and getting ppl to understand them

Okay I'm here with the essay loosely inspired by this post and how the pronoun debate online always defaults to english which diminishes the work of people all over the world.

In swedish we have three singular third pronouns; han/honom (he/him), hon/henne (she/her) and den/det (it). Our language is thankfully not very gendered at all, which makes the whole thing a lot easier than for example latin based languages that genders exactly everything (we do basically have two neutrals instead, which is quite confusing at times, but I digress).

Back in the day when people wanted to convey an unknown or irrelevant gender they would say "han eller hon" meaning "he or she". It works but is quite cumbersome. In writing it was often "han/hon". This was the norm for as long as I know. Very similar to english.

I followed a few feminist blogs in the late 00s and they didn't like that "he" was always put first and started to write it as h*n, h/n, h#n and similar. It works in writing for an ingroup, but you can't pronounce that. So people settled for hen, a simple third option to hon and han.

It should be noted that at this point it was mostly still used for when the gender of a person is unknown or irrelevant, as the discussion around non binary people still hadn't reached the mainstream. Non binary people became almost an afterthought, as in "here's a gender neutral pronoun for when gender is irrelevant, or I guess if you're neither male or female".

So these feminist blogs started using hen, leftist debaters and writers for magazines and newspapers picked it up and started using it, which of course started a shit storm from the right. Newspapers had to figure out if they should allow it in their style guides or not.

People also started using it as a suffix where words usually ended in -en, like bloggen (the blog) to blogghen, klänningen (the dress) to klänninghen etc. It was mostly a joke around leftists to rile up the right and it sort of worked.

Nöjesguiden, a free weekly magazine about nightlife and culture, published a whole issue in february of 2012 where they changed the name to NöjesguideHen and every he and she was changed to the neutral Hen. The same year the children's book Kivi och monsterhund was published, only using hen.

Later that year, DN, one of the biggest daily newspapers in the country issued a statement saying that they would not allow hen as it could be seen as a political statement. People were talking more about the queer aspects of the word at this point which was apparently too much for DN.

This caused a bit of an uproar, lots of essays and blog posts and debates were had, and in 2014 SAOL, Word list of the Swedish Academy, added hen as a new word which was seen as the official stamp of approval for it, and publications started to follow suit. 

Today it is used widely both in text and speech, it's a lot less loaded now as people just have gotten used to hearing it and it's actually quite practical. In hindsight it's fascinating that a massive culture debate that lasted for a couple of years now has completely calmed down and it became a new standard in the language in a relatively short amount of time.

TLDR; feminists and queers started to use a new neutral pronoun, the right had a breakdown, bon appetit.

I feel like I'm gonna end up with at least two more of these for the reverse au before quitting. It's starting to become a series. This one presented a different kind of challenge for me as Fiona uses cooler undertones and could easily end up looking lifeless if I don't balance it right.

Now for the main heroine of my OC's reverse au, Fiona Kuznetsov! For this AU, she's the Ladybug, hence her earrings, which took the form of little turquoise studs, a referrence to her prime counterpart favoring shades of blue. Her twin tails are inspired by Furina from Genshin Impact, down to the part where if you take them out, you'd be left with Fiona's original shorter hair style. There's some referrences to canon's Ladybugs here, like her shirt pattern is meant to look like a solid pinkish red embroidered version of Marinette's shirt print and those long red ribbons alongside her ponytails are a shout out to Bridgette from the anime PV. Compared to Shizuke and Blair, she has by far the most drastic change compared to her normal look.

Now, why the drastic change?

It's all because her backstory drastically changed just because she didn't have Keagan and Shizuke as her childhood friends. The two boys encouraged her to be more true to herself growing up, being more outspoken and tomboyish. Their impact on her life is meant to evoke the same effect Alya had in Marinette's life, according to the special. But in this AU, the Supreme has them both on a leash in different ways.

Where does that leave Fiona? Still from a rising nouveau riche family with her papa urging her to fit in with the rich kids and dolling her up. Without Keagan to ease off the pressure (being friends with the mayor's son, she basically already got the biggest fish in the pond) or Shizuke to protect (its how she gained her rep as the school's bully hunter), Fiona never had the chance to figure out what she really wanted for herself. And so she followed her papa's wishes and tried to be the perfect daughter because what else could she do? She lived life aimlessly like this, not entirely hating it as her papa is so proud of her at the very least, but not feeling that spark of life because something was always missing... she never knew what it was.

Then everything changed when she met this guy named Keagan at a gala. He looked like trouble. A quick check on social media confirmed he IS trouble. He's an over indulgent party guy while his family is currently in the middle of some scandal, rumored to be involved in illegal business.

She wanted to avoid him except he kept rudely interrupting her papa from approaching those guys who wore white with an intricate red emblem. Eventually, those men left and her papa is upset he never made a deal with them. Fiona was also upset on her papa's behalf and went to confront the carefree jerk... and he had the audacity to tell her her papa should be thanking him for saving him from the Supreme. Trust him, they ain't worth it. Yeah right, said the boy from the family burried in lawsuits. He condescendingly ruffled her head and left her but Fiona wouldn't let it go. So she followed him.

It turns out those Supreme guys knew Keagan interferred on purpose and were planning to rough him up a little. As a warning. Concerned, Fiona went to warn Keagan only to get roped in with him as she's now a witness. Well, that sucks. Keagan is annoyingly relaxed though, he's more surprised by her trying to warn him. What's with him trying to cover her with his jacket, though? To hide her face? So what??? She's still stuck here and the Supreme goons will beat them up or worse - that's when the mysterious vigilante in the black cat suit came and saved their sorry butts. And this became Fiona's introduction to the Resistance.

There, she learned what the Supreme is all about. She wants to help. The butterfly boss lady took one look at her and decided they've got their new ladybug.

In the Resistance as a Ladybug, Fiona was finally free to be who she is and made friends who accepted her for who she is... It made it harder and harder everyday to go back to being Fiona the Jewellry Princess. She finally found her calling.

Pantheon au: Characters! Part 1

Welcome to my new au that I will just give facts about since I can't write a story for life now how it came to existence well it was an ask in @annonniiiiieeeee's ask blog and it ended up being a full fledged thing I wanted to do for fun so here's the summary and basic information and I'll go along from there no plot spoilers will be given just some hints of it but that's about it.

What is the au called? I like to call it the Pantheon au (I will probably change the names later)

Premise? What if the (rottmnt) turtles were gods and yes this is a somewhat Leosagi centered au because my biggest inspirations for this au is a Leosagi fic by the person I mentioned at the start of this post. Of course it will have some interactions with the brothers and I will also flesh out their interactions with one another as well as the other characters because I want to get them all the attention they deserve.

NOTE: not all of these facts are set in stone there are some that we still have to talk about and what to remove or add because some are my own thoughts so I will still have to run it through my co-creators @annonniiiiieeeee @furiousjellifish and @thenerdywitchofthenorth when this is posted to see if there are things we need to change or add to it. Open to suggestions as well

Lets start off with the Hamatos

Splinter!

The head of the Pantheon and Forgotten God of Fame and Fortune

Due to the accident he had to hide away with his boys to keep them safe.

Due to the lack of followers because of his disappearance his power becomes weaker so he used the remaining energy to make a home hidden away and seal his boys abilities until a certain age.

The reason he sealed those abilities away was because he wants to raise them in a healthy environment and he can't have that with the mortals causing trouble and possible evil that will come for them so he raised them alone and away from the mortals

Used to be in a relationship with Big Mama a fellow god/celestial being who manipulated him to battle in her Battle Nexus located in the Hidden City another factor on why he his his boys away (could be changed)

In the start he was struggling to raise the turtles while missing his glory days and it gets harder because of the dwindling numbers of his followers for each year that passes by.

He slowly grows to become the father the turtles need after the Shredder incident that destroyed their first home.

Raph!

The God of Protection, Strength, Warriors and Rage

Rules over no domain unlike his brothers and merely protects their domains

He watches over those that worship him and makes sure to visit the villages/cities that choose to become his worshippers

He often joins in with mortals in battle fighting for the good people and protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

Those that threaten what his family protects whether it be their domains, worshippers or those that wish to harm them Raph will do whatever it takes to protect it leading to his rage being taken out on them (The savage Raph episodes) or to put it simply mess with his family's domains be prepared to face Raph

April!

Goddess of Truth and Families

Has been down to the mortal realm more times that the turtles and Splinter

Mayhem is her messenger and companion and has two forms when in disguise which is either a cat or a dog and follows April when she's in disguise and down in the human world

April looks the most human of them all so she doesn't have to hide her her image as much as they do.

Will always be the first to call them all out on their bs.

Whenever the turtles sneak out she accompanies them and when busy Mayhem does it for her

In her statues she and Mayhem are always together either on her shoulder or in her arms

Donnie!

The God of Knowledge and Innovation

Because of his unethical experiments at times he is also occasionally called the God of Madness

The smartest of his brothers and often invents new ways to improve their security especially after the Shredder destroyed their first home

Those that come to him for knowledge must share their own knowledge with them as well as a valid reason on why they want the knowledge they ask for and if he deems it fit he will grant you the knowledge you seek if not... Well he'll show you why he's occasionally called the God of Madness

If not found in his domain you can find him in his room/personal study tinkering with Sheldon a spirit that took the form of one of automatons and became Donnie's son.

Leo!

The God of Strategy, Travel, Medicine and Romantic Love

Some of the strategies kings, lords, generals or other battles strategists think of are actually Leo's own strategies that he whispered in their ears using the wind.

He never got any thanks before because the mortals take the credit for it but Leo doesn't mind that much since at that time he was an unknown god but when he became known many mortals pray for his strategies to tackle the many challenges of daily life which Leo is happy provide.

Only dabbles in medicine before meeting Usagi but then spent his energy on medicine to help Usagi with his curse by healing his loved ones should they fall victim to his curse

Became associated with romantic love because of Usagi telling potential worshippers about Leo and hearing the genuine love from him from then on associated him with romantic love.

Leo has an inferiority complex like in the canon show and in true Leo fashion cracks his one liners and makes fun of serious situations but knows when to be serious when the situation calls for it

he self sacrifices like a boss (someone stop me)

Mikey!

God of Food, Harvest and Flame

When appeased the harvests are blessed and good meanwhile if he's mad or upset he will burn the land in which he stands

Mikey is the artist of the family and the cook so his domain is often colorful and full of delicious foods.

Could possibly be the most powerful one in the family. (If canon Mikey can throw a whole boat, an entire building, and open a gateway back in time as well as to the prison dimension then imagine what this god can do)

Even so Raph is protective of him and therefore Raph visits his domain the most for that reason. Much to the dismay of Mikey

Mikey interacts with his worshippers a lot whenever he visits the villages/cities under his domain

Listens to the problems of the people and acts either harsh (Dr. Delicate Touch) or kind and understanding (Dr. Feelings) depending on the situation that calls for it.

Mikey is still naive so at times he can be taken advantage of by some people which adds to his brothers' reasoning to visiting him constantly to check in

Sometimes people forget he's the God of Flames until they remember that he can burn their crops down.

Cassandra!

The Goddess of War and Violence

Cassandra is as intense as she is in the show however in her time in the pantheon with the Hamatos she learned to calm down more but she is still intense and is as always waiting for the next battle

A mortal that used to work for the foot clan but when the clan fell apart she spent her time with the Hamatos and slowly being part of their family and going through her own trial to earn her title as a god

When Casey was going through his trial she wasn't allowed to interfere so she left her son in the hands of the turtles

She is the most active in the battlefield

At times Cassandra would challenge the victor of the battle to a match to satiate her need for battle though she is still in disguise of course.

Casey Jr

The God of Peace, Victory and Roads

Casey started off as a demigod before earning his godhood to join the pantheon

Once he became a god Leo let him keep dominion over the roads

Is one of the first (if not is the first) to be supportive of Usagi and Leo's relationship and even gave Usagi a blessed trinket to show his support to his endeavor to reconcile with Leo

Doesn't have a domain of his own since he usually travels around with his mom.

When his mom is off challenging random mortals to battle he would be in the corner supporting the mortals so they actually stand a chance of surviving her attacks... It works 50% of the time.

Draxum!

The God of Alchemy, Magic and Plants

Caused the accident that caused Splinter to hide from the world with the baby turtles tots

A primordial god that's saw the existence of everything and even created the Yokais and living among them for a period of time before being banished by the Council Of Heads (that's what I call those guys Mayhem works for in canon show)

His resentment for humans started when they attacked his creations and not even half the population survived resulting in his many unethical experiments on attempting to wipe them out

When he was reformed he is keeping an open mind on humans however when their acts result in one of his family members getting upset... Well you should not expect much mercy.

He can easily take on those that want to hunt him down in the Hidden City however he does not want to dwindle the numbers of the Yokais even further so he ran.

He helped rebuild their second home after the Shredder incident and made sure none were hurt during that incident in place of the turtles and yes even the humans even if he was still trying to be open minded

Closest to Mikey because of the many times they spent together during his reform

He was okay (at best) with Leo and Usagi's relationship but should the rabbit bring him any sort of pain that curse isn't the only problem he will have

Is probably the one to heal Usagi's curse with some assistance with Leo

———   jinam is the unfortunate victim of his environment in many ways. his parents are business & academic oriented, as well as religious, & while they tried their best to instill their values, morals, & work ethic into him, he fought them every step of the way. he hated going to church, he hated participating in school, & it was clear from the time he learned to speak that he didn’t get along with his father — the pair of them being polar opposites in basically every fashion. his dad is rigid, commanding, forceful, & ( toxically ) masculine, & growing up, he had no idea how is own flesh & blood, his own son, could be so different from him. it filled him with a disappointment that he still grapples with, & jinam has spent his whole life wondering why being himself is so wrong ;; why his father won’t accept him for everything that makes him him. despite not having much of a relationship anymore, these thoughts are a burden that jinam lives with to this day, & it’s safe to say that he has quite a bit of ❛ daddy issues. ❜ i do not use this term lightly, & it will be elaborated on later in this introduction post.

———   his biggest safe place growing up was his maternal grandmother’s house. at least once per week, he would spend the night there, & she allowed him to blossom however felt natural to him. as a kid & teen, jinam had a lot of interests, all of which were located in the realm of art, performance, & creative literature. he adored painting, sketching, writing poems & short stories, as well as singing along to whatever music came on the radio — all of which his grandmother supported, nourished, & allowed in her household. in truth, he reminded her a lot of her late husband. he, too, had a knack for the arts, as well as a gentle personality that many claimed was overly ❛ feminine, ❜ but that never stopped him from expressing who he was, authentically. when jinam was born & became his own person, the resemblances were uncanny — not only in spirit, but also in visuals — & she wanted him to know that he was just fine as is, no matter what his dad told him. her home, & her presence, were the only things that made him feel seen.

———   unfortunately, he wasn’t only bullied at home, but also in school. because of this, he kept to himself for the most part. he wasn’t entirely friendless, thankfully, & he cherishes the friends he made back then more than anything ;; considers a lot of them his chosen family — particularly those who are also queer, or the ❛ black sheep ❜ of their families. note: it goes without saying, that these are all possible connections up for grabs if your muse is from, or lived in, seoul, & is near the same age as jinam. anyway, in school, he was made to focus mostly on academics & keeping his grades up, but he also had quite the rebellious streak — one that drove both of his parents bonkers. whether it was ditching class, sneaking out to meet up with his friends, or skipping church as a protest, it caused problems for him. his home life was chaotic because of it, but he always had his grandmother. that never faded or changed, & one day, with her help covering for him, he ditched school with his friends to audition for hydra labels. it was done mostly on a whim, & two of their group of four were luckily cast ;; him being one of them, as well as a newer pal to him.

———   his involvement in the company wasn’t supported by his father, but at that point, he had all but stopped caring for whatever jinam was going to do with his life. allowing him to train at an entertainment company meant jinam was no longer his dad’s ❛ problem, ❜ so he remained silent — so much so that he & jinam haven’t spoken to this day. it’s bittersweet for him, but he remained focused on his training — opening up like a flower now that he’s quite literally surrounded by the arts. at hydra labels, he’s learned how to be a better singer, & songwriter, & how to feel more confident in himself in a variety of ways, & while it’s tiring & not fun all of the time, he wouldn’t change the experience for the world. however, that said, he’s prone to a variety of distractions. coming into his own, especially with age, has him focusing a lot on his love life, particularly the guys around him ;; the guys who are so tempting in all the wrong ways ;; the guys who seem to fill the void.

———   it’s been a wild two years, & throughout it, he’s written a lot of music, & has never felt so free, but just as he began finding his footing in life, he suffered the greatest loss he’ll ever face. ( death tw ) in the middle of the year 2022, his grandmother passed, & his heart has been broken ever since. grief is a hard cycle to break, & while he’s done his best to pick up the pieces & move forward, he can’t help but feel lost. he wears jewelry of her’s every single day, & writes to her in a journal she gave him whenever he’s feeling blue. though, in her will, she left him her home ;; stating she wanted for him to still have a place where he felt safe, where he could be himself. it’s created a stir in the family, but he’s unbothered by it. whenever he’s not at the company & has free time, he spends it there — maintaining it as best he can, & feeling her energy.

———   nowadays, he’s been doing his best to début, especially since it’s his two year anniversary with the company. he’s writing a lot, singing a lot, dating a lot, & doing his best to make his dream come true. he’s still hurting in ways, but he’s realizing that the hurt he feels will likely never go away, so he’s learning to live with it.

i'm here with a little update about jaerim, as well as a plot call for this month's event, which jaerim will be hosting! if we haven't already plotted or if you'd like to plot for the event, just hit me up! if you'd like to do an event thread on top of our ongoing threads, i'll be down to do a shorter thread for the event! i'm available on both ims and discord, whichever you prefer.

first things first, jaerim has now taken on the moneybags skeleton which does not change much (or anything, really). to begin with, the gossipgate scandal did not affect him very much as his family is very influential (especially in the arts) so his career was already laid out for him. however, i did flesh out some details about his family that might come up in some threads:

his family is one of, if not the most, influential families in the arts; basically old money with a long lineage of artists (and other art related careers)

they also think they are superior to others because they are "cultured" on top of their wealth

it was always a career in the arts or risk being the black sheep of the family

every child born in the seo family would be sent for art classes, it is as important as learning the korean language

his family is very image-focused, often portraying themselves to be polished and sophisticated, people with refined tastes

naturally, they do not tolerate scandals that could potentially damper their image

they paid off media outlets to keep jaerim's name out of the gossipgate news so while you could kind of make him out in the video, there is no real confirmation of him being in it

they were also the ones that had insisted his then girlfriend have the abortion (see: his biggest gossip girl scandal)

he never had issues with college acceptances because his family name guarantees him a spot in any art program (probably also due to nepotism because he has relatives who are art professors)

while his parents are okay with jaerim dating around, they are incredibly picky when it comes to his potential marriage partner (they do not have to be in the arts themselves, but they would have to be from an influential family)

now, onto the event, which is held at his family's museum! it's basically the opening of a new gallery, with an exhibition curated by jaerim. in line with that, jaerim would display a painting of his, revealed for the first time at the event. the painting would be of a woman, rumoured to be inspired by one of his exes or past love interests/crushes, though her identity is unknown. this is just a brief idea, in need of more plotting. just thought it would be fun to add a bit of drama! with that said, here are some plot ideas i came up with:

maybe your muse could be the subject of his painting and she doesn't know it (or she could know, if she had modelled for him), maybe it could be a nude painting (with or without her consent), anything juicy — nothing's set in stone yet so i'm open to anything!

or your muse (or most people) thought the painting was of her, when it in fact, wasn't

maybe your muse sends a tip in to gg that the painting is of them, even though it wasn't, or your muse knows the painting is of them and intentionally sent it in to gg so everyone else would know too

jaerim's date for the event; seeing as this would be a very important (and public) event for his family, they would expect him to go with someone who is also from an influential family (does not have to be a romantic interest, could be someone that his family thinks is good for him)

or he could just go against his family's wishes and bring someone he wants to bring (because he likes them, or it could even be platonic, like they're just a good friend who could ground him when he's stressed, which he will be at this event)

he could bring you on a private tour of the gallery, either before its opening or after, to beat the crowds. it would be quiet and empty so it could be romantic! he might tell you cheesy things like you're prettier than the artworks or steal a kiss behind some fancy installation with a sign that says "do not touch the art"

jaerim could've auctioned his painting and it was sold to you (for whatever reason — the painting could be of you, or it wasn't of you and you wanted it destroyed, or you just thought it would be funny to see his reaction, or you just liked it and had more money than everyone else lol) and he personally hands it to you after the auction

both of you dislike each other but the media and press are watching so you put on a show just for them, even go as far as to take a chummy picture together

you had wine spilled on you at the refreshment party and jaerim takes you back to the museum to get cleaned or changed (maybe all he has is another set of his own clothes and you walk out of the changing room in his shirt... looking a little scandalous...)

you meet jaerim for the first time at the event; maybe you were introduced to each other during the refreshment party, or you meet on one of the tours around the new gallery. doesn't have to be anything complicated, could just be a first meeting for our muses who do not have pre-existing connections!

not sure if we have any muses who are artists but if there are any, maybe your work is displayed at the exhibition!

Next up is character explanations. I did have character portraits for all the main cast but then I went and changed the finaalin design (what Aala and Nila are) so I’ll have to redo those lol.

Anyway, btw, I call the main cast of Onto the Horizon the Horizon crew since Irel’s ship is called the Horizon so it makes sense, so you may see my use that sometimes so I’m not typing out all of their names.

So Aala I introduced a bit before as Tides of Change is her book. Basically OTH will be a 5 book series and while every book will have the perspectives of all the main cast, each book has a dominant perspective.

For a few more details on Aala though, she loves the ocean and as finaalin are semi aquatic reptiles, she will go and sit underwater for a while, and if she has a heat vest on to keep her body temperature up she will stay there for hours as she loves listening to oceans sounds which she uses as inspiration for her music. She cares a lot about the traditions and culture of Ocera, and while she doesn’t believe in the religion (I have litterally just realised I haven’t named the dominant religion on Ocera, woops) literally, she does believe in its teachings and loves the stories. She isn’t particularly close with many people outside of her family, with the only exception really being Veli, who is the Priest of the Sun and who she will be marrying. He’s pretty much her best friend and she’s fine with the arrangement as they get on and it’s traditional (I’ll do a post on Oceran/finaalin culture at somepoint). Also, as a slightly silly thing, Aala hates space travel, specifically Jumping which is this story’s equivalent to hyperspace or warp drive.

Nila is 10 so is pretty young and does kid things. She loves art and especially loves painting. She looks up to her older sister but does not understand how she can’t enjoy being on a ship because space is awesome. She’s incredibly curious about pretty much everything, but especially magic. This mainly stems from her wanting to understand why she’s different. She does wonder how others see the world as she can see magic and how beautiful it is and she can’t think how the world would look without it. She is very sweet, but does have some issues since her home world gets invaded and her parents are killed. While she does look up to Aala, they do have some conflict as Aala is forced into a more parental role and Nila is a traumatised 10 year old so doesn’t always do the most rational things.

Keryn Narkel has worked for the Insurgency for several years at this point and frankly just wants to get out of her job. She hates it, she hates most of her coworkers, and is sick of hiding. The only coworker she tolerates is her childhood bestfriend/rival, Rayka. Now Rayka sees Keryn as her biggest rival but Keryn just sees her as a little sister and they have a bit of a complicated dynamic. Keryn is an azuran (I’ll go more into them later) and unlike most of her species, her hair is short, which on Azaal (the azuran native home world) is a sign of a criminal. Anyway, Keryn has her reasons for hating the IGA despite working for them and no I will not be elaborating further (for now at least).

Irel Tanik is the face of the Insurgency. They run a good chunk of it, and are responsible for uniting several different groups together, including the Lomaran Resistance (also known as the Lomaran Network) and the New Dawn Alliance. Irel is stubborn, sometimes a little hot headed, but they care deeply for justice and are very compassionate. They grew up with the leader of the New Dawn Alliance, Jas Castern, and while they are close, they have drifted apart over the years as Jas is willing to do whatever it takes to win, no matter how many innocent people are between him and victory, which does not sit well with Irel. They are also very close with Avalis, who became their second in command when they took over from Ezren, the previous leader of their group. Irel is a talented mechanic, which they use to upgrade their ship (the Horizon) and their prosthetics (they lost both of their legs when they were 12 in an accident). They also accidentally made the AI in their ship sapient (well, sort of accidentally), and once ethey realised, they named it K8 and once the war is over they intend on making it a body so it can properly explore the galaxies.

Finally, we have Avalis. He is a volcarnirin who was involved in war from a very young age. Like all members of his species, his body heats up dramatically in response to adrenaline, but he is also a plasma channeller, and a very skilled one. He is one of the most skilled fighters in the Insurgency and being very tall and muscular he is also pretty intimidating, which has gotten Irel out of trouble more than once. He is actually very kind and quiet usually, but you put him in a fight and he will do anything it takes to survive. For him, there are no rules in a fight, and he will use any tactics necessary. Irel is his best friend, but he’s also close with Ria, one of the leaders of the Lomaran Resistance, who is also his sparring partner. On the outside it would look like Ria wouldn’t stand a chance as she’s only around 4’2, but she can match Avalis’s skill without much hastle. She’s also one of the few who understands his PTSD and especially his struggle with sleep, the pair of them often sparring while everyone else is asleep. Avalis has a lot of problems with PTSD, but he has his ways to deal with it.

And that’s the main cast. I love these guys a lot. My next post will probably be on some side characters because I need an excuse to talk about Ria in depth, but I may do a lore post.

Yeah that’s what I was trying to think about myself but I imagine just having Morpheus and Epiales finding Cross, Horror, Dust and Killer(Blue is perfectly fine on his one, unless his au starts destroying itself from the inside out) and basically just have Morpheus and Epiales offer them a safe place to stay and live in and let them go back to their au if they ever wanted(this bit is mainly targeted towards Horror)

The basic proofreading I did was just splitting the large paragraph of Ink and Morpheus’ meeting into smaller ones and changing a word so there wasn’t the same word repeating in the same sentence twice :3

Morpheus can feel no emotion coming from this being, but the being seems happy regardless. The being in question appears to be a small skeleton with mostly brown cloths, changing eyes that seem to be almost indecisive in how they look, and the biggest paint brush Morpheus has ever seen. The skeleton turns around from what he’s doing and spots Morpheus. “HELLO TRAVELER, WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE!” The monster says, yelling in his excitement. Morpheus answers “I had a feeling I was needed here. Who are you?” “Ink, pleasure to meetcha traveler. What’s your name?” “I go by Morpheus.” “Why are you here, Morpheus?” Morpheus blinked in confusion at the question. “You already asked that.” “Oh, I did?” “Yes” “Memory problems are the worst, you feel me?” “Actually no. Its what’s so odd about you.” The small skeleton, now known as ‘Ink’ looked confused for a moment before seemingly realizing something. “Oh! You’re Dream, from Dreamtale, right?”

Morpheus paused, considering his answer, “I was Dream, but now I’m Morpheus. The past has passed, I am different now.” Ink looked at him and then smiled, “fair enough”. “You can’t feel emotions from me because I have no soul.” “I- What?” “You said before that you couldn’t feel me, you are an empath, I have no soul. Simple enough, huh?” Ink turns away, wielding his paintbrush to continue with working on the unfinished au. Morpheus wasn’t expecting an answer to his question, let alone one so obviously personal. “I didn’t mean to-” “Don’t worry about, it’s not like I can really be sad about it,” Ink said, still turned away from Morpheus. “I may not be able to feel them, but your emotions seem real enough to me” Morpheus replied, frowning. Ink turned back around to face Morpheus. “I-” Ink’s voice broke slightly, and Ink seemed to remember that this was a stranger he was talking to, trying to recover some of his composure before speaking again.

“I can only pretend” Ink finally said, his voice still shaking a bit from his near miss at a breakdown. Morpheus frowned again, then asked “if you can only pretend, then why ‘pretend’ to be so affected?” Ink seemed to think about this question for a moment and then sat down, patting the ground next to him for Morpheus to come sit with him. Morpheus sat down. Ink sighed, the finally replied to Morpheus’ question with a question “Do you see the inks on my chest? Each represents an emotion, I take all of them each day to feel. I can choose what I’m feeling at any time, but I usually let the emotions run their path all intermixed.” “That doesn’t sound fake at all” Morpheus said, grabbing Ink’s hands and turning Ink to face him.

Ink looked surprised, his eye lights a purple sphere and a blue tear drop, and his mouth slightly opened in shock. “I don’t understand why you’re being so kind.” Ink said turning his face back away from his new friend. “Why would I be anything but? I could choose to be cruel, or mean, or malice filled, but what’s truly the point in that?” Ink hopped up and offered a hand to Morpheus “Thank you.” Morpheus took the hand up. “Why do you create Ink?” “I don’t really, I’m more to inspire, to help. I help create sure, but only at the direction of a creator or finishing unfinished aus, and I’m more a protector than a creator.” “You protect AUs?” “I do, mainly from outcodes that want to destroy them and glitches in the code.” “Outcodes?” “Characters that either don’t belong to an au, don’t stay in their au, or that have jobs or things they do outside of their au. For example, I am an outcode that doesn’t have an au, you are an outcode that doesn’t stay in their au, and Reaper, the god of death, reaps souls outside his au.” “That’s…” “crazy? Insane? Odd?” “…really cool” “Oh.” Both burst out laughing, with Morpheus shaking so hard that you can hear his bones rattling. “Who do you mainly protect AUs from?” Ink stopped laughing, then sighed sadly…

“Error, why don’t you explain the balance to Ink?” Epiales asked. “…HIs mE-Me-MEmOry is bAD oN a gOod daY. He mAy R3Me-mE-mEmBer th3 plOts oF eNtIRe AUs, BuT eveRy tiM3 I’ve triEd t0 3xplain the balanc3 t0 hiM, it g03s in 0n3 3aR anD oUt th3 oTh3r.” “Hmm… That does sound like an issue” Epiales said, frowning. Error laughed slightly, sounding annoyed, even with the glitches present in his laugh “Ya THinK?”

It was Epiales’ turn to laugh at that. Epiales paused, then said, “What if we reminded him again, not when destroying an AU or causing destruction or negativity, but truly in a talk made for peace? Have everything written down too, so he can’t claim he forgot in the middle of the conversation or something.” “…thAt MIGht WoRk,” Error whispered, sounding hopeful. Epiales smiled, a contrast to his earlier frown and then said, “C’mon, let’s go get my brother, we’ve got some planning to do.”

Dreamtale Au Idea...?

Ok, so I have an idea of a Dreamtale au based on a 'what if' scenario that came to my mind for some unknown reason.

The 'what if' scenario is: "What if Dream and Nightmare were both treated nicely by the villagers...but the villagers are only nice to the two of them so they can take the apples from the tree of feelings" I have absolutely no idea where this 'what if' scenario came from but I mean...it's not that bad of an idea...?
