I was going to do a quick analysis on the comic’s title in relation to Buddy and uh. here I am now 900 words later. hope at least one person enjoys this,,
TLDR: Maybe the real Cinderella Boy was the weird goth friends we made along the way.
So I was doing my routine pondering of Dreams by Night (because symbolism and parallels are like crack to me) and this line right here might my favorite piece of dialogue in the whole comic:
Tumblr media
Really this scene as a whole might be my favorite moment, but that line in particular — and its implications — are so fascinating to me.
Chase yet again breaks the conventions of a story, but this time it's the story of Cinderella Boy itself. In this case, Chase relinquishes his title of The Hero — or more accurately — The Protagonist. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that right after this moment is our first glimpse of Buddy outside of Chase’s perspective. Outside of the narrative up to that point of him being a villain.
I also don’t think it's a coincidence this is something as unreliable as a dream: a (quite literal) look inside Buddy’s head and thought process. Again, further establishing the unreliability of the story’s narrative as we know it.
I’ll stop before I go full blown analysis mode on the comic’s meta themes of narrative and conventions (saving that for another time). But I do bring up all this stuff about changing the view of the narrative, because I want to talk about another implication of ”This can be your story too.”
Which is that the title of Cinderella Boy actually refers to Buddy (or at least also refers to him).
Chase does fit a lot of the qualities of Cinderella and that story. I mean, it’s the very first story we see him in. But, I also think the Cinderella story fits Buddy even more.
List:
—A young person trapped in a horrible situation, stuck wearing rags and being treated as a pawn for a higher authority’s bidding. (Cinderella being a servant for her “family” and Buddy being a servant for Ex Libris).
—Said higher authority being cruel (The Evil Stepmother and the Old Man)
—The young person is assisted by a lady who gives her nice clothes and an avenue to escape reality. (Violet acting as a fairy godmother-like figure).
—Young person falls in love with a man who can rescue them from their troubles (the Prince and Chase), but doesn’t reveal their identity to the man
—Both Cinderella and Buddy are just nicknames, but that’s how everybody refers to them.
So yeah, lots of parallels to Cinderella with Buddy, at least based on the little we know about him.
I also want to bring up something we see in the very beginning of Cinderella Boy. In the first episode, we get a cliff notes version of Cinderella’s story. Colors (especially background colors) are really important in the comic, representing emotions and characters. And what is the main color that reappears again and again in this episode?
Purple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The petals and roses that surround the snippets of story and the revealing of the main character, all Buddy’s signature color. The petals only turn pink — Chase’s color — when Chase actually appears.
Side note: The inclusion of both purple and pink side by side in this episode also alludes to the fact that, from the start, this is both Buddy and Chase’s story. (Seriously, go check it out, there’s so many instances it’s hard to unsee when looking for them).
Also, where else have we seen purple roses? Oh yeah, Chase’s dream in Dreams by Night. I’ve already rambled about its importance to shifting the narrative. Granted that’s not the only place purple roses appear, but it’s the most relevant.
Beyond just the colors, the actual descriptions of the heroine in the first episode should sound pretty familiar. A person “unknown to all” and “dressed in humble rags.” Sounds a lot like Buddy, from what we see in his dream at least.
Ok, so having discussed all of Buddy’s connections to Cinderella and the comic’s title maybe being about him, this is the part where I start speculating and jumping fifty different sharks. I want to make some predictions about Buddy based on the Cinderella story.
List (the sequel):
1- Buddy is an orphan. (Not far-fetched of an assumption to make about him in general, since in Beach Boys VI he expresses what seems to be confusion about the idea of having a family).
2- The palace’s clock is important in Cinderella, and Buddy’s dream heavily features a clock. So, Buddy’s likely running out of time for something. To find the keys or just being able to see Chase, either/or. What’s going to happen when that time is up? Well…
3- Mimicking Cinderella running away at midnight, Buddy’s going to be forced to leave the stories for good, likely as the season finale.
4- I think Buddy’s going to leave behind a metaphorical glass slipper, an identifier. What do I think it’ll be? His name. (Considering the current relationship between Buddy and Chase. And the fact we’re getting close to the end of the season and therefore a Buddy name reveal, I don’t think this is too improbable).
4.5- This is the most out there one, but Buddy’s name might be related to the name Ella, which is Cinderella’s original name in many interations. Maybe Ellis, Elliot, or Elijah.
It’ll be fun to see if any of these are actually close to what’ll happen. And with that, I’ll end my red string board session for now. :]

Once you know that Marissa Meyer based The Lunar Chronicles (and specifically Cinder, the first book) on an old Sailor Moon fanfic she wrote, the inspiration can be fairly obvious (most obvious being the missing princess from the moon and the threat of war between Earth and the Moon). That being said, there’s enough of Meyer’s own inspiration/ideas in there to help make it stand out (the futuristic setting, for one thing).
But it did make me think: Bill Ellis (who I mentioned on here before) wrote an essay about Princess Tutu where he said that Cinderella--the fairy tale Cinder retells--is an archetypal precedent to magical girl transformations. Cinderella and Sailor Moon have premises unique to themselves, but then I thought about the basics of both stories: both Cinderella and Usagi start out as girls who are at a low point of their life (Cinderella is mistreated by her stepfamily, while Usagi is chronically late for school and failing tests--one is arguably worse than the other, sure, but the point is, neither of them is doing great in their own way). Then both of them encounter magic (fairy godmother, talking space cat, etc.) that gives them, as Ellis puts it, the skills they need to accomplish whatever they need to do (go to the ball, fight evil). For an added bonus, no one at the ball ever recognizes Cinderella, similar to how no one ever puts it together that Usagi is Sailor Moon, despite her never covering her face (though she did have a mask in the early chapters of the manga). Also, there’s a prince in both stories.
With that in mind, it’s not hard to see how it was easy for Meyer to take inspiration from Sailor Moon in her Cinderella retelling. (Interestingly enough, the original fanfic was a Puss in Boots AU, because as Meyer pointed out, both Puss in Boots and Sailor Moon have talking cats.)

Constructive criticism: Raya and Wish (2023)
Ah yes, Raya and the last Dragon and Wish... and a bonus
Raya and the last Dragon
Taking place in the fictional country of Kumandra, based on Southeast Asian culture, the movie follows the warrior princess Raya as she seek the fabled last dragon to save her father and the land of Kumandra from evil spirits that are known as Druun.
Critics gave the film positive reviews; some critics praised the imagery and depth but criticized the limited Southeast Asian representation.
The movie is very good on a technical level, Visually impressive, fun characters and the story is good... until the third act.
It`s message doesn`t really fit into it`s narrative. It tries to fit a square shaped peg into a round hole.
If I could wish upon a star that I could travel back in time and do some changes to the script I would like to make one small change.
Namaari giving her "This is just as much your fault" speech and Raya acting as if she`s right
The biggest downside in this scene is Raya`s reaction to what Namaari says, looking at her own reflection in her sword as if to say: "My god, what have I become?"
How I would do it: Raya and Namaari fight. Raya gets the upperhand, disarms Namaari and is about to strike the final blow... but then she looks at what`s happening around them, the city is falling apart, killing Namaari is not gonna solve this. She drops her sword.
Raya: "My original plan was to steal the gem. It was Sisu who convinced me to talk to you. She believed in you. And for a moment... so did I."
Then she leaves to save what still can be saved of the people of Fang.
Namaari looks at her own reflection in one of her twin swords and has a "My god, what have I become?" moment.
I guess I could stop here, but I want to change one more scene.
Raya giving her gem piece to Namaari
In the scene where they are all in the pit trying to fight the druuns with their gem pieces and Raya realizes that they have to put the pieces together, it would be better if Namaari gave her piece to Raya before she gives her piece to Namaari.
Namaari would then step backwards and let the Druun take her. The others would then give their pieces to Raya, stand next to Namaari and be turned to stone. Raya tries to put the gem back together, nothing happens, she places herself between Namaari and the others (Tong, Boun, Little Noi and the Ongis), puts a hand on Tong`s arm and a hand on Namaari`s shoulder as if to form a bridge between the two. (Symbolism!)
Then the dragongem starts working, everyone gets unstoned, the dragons return, Kumandra is united and everyone`s happy.
The end.
Yes, I know. Raya needed to learn how to trust, but Namaari needed to show that she could be trusted.
Wish (2023)
Disney (the company that owns your childhood) was turning 100 years old and decided to give itself a big pat on the back by making an animated movie that would celebrate it`s legacy.
The film received mixed reviews, with praise directed towards the vocal performances, the animation and references to the wider Disney canon, but criticism levelled at the plotting, songs, and screenplay.
People were disappointed in Wish because it was supposed to be a milestone, the movie made to celebrate that the Disney animation studio has been around for 100 years! It just couldn`t live up to the hype. But if you take all the hype and great expectations out of the equation and just view it, not as this BIG thing it was intended to be, but just as the movie it is, it`s... just OK.
Later when the art book of the movie came out and people saw what could have been, many youtubers decided to do what I have been doing since 2015, and do a little constructive criticism of their own. With so many rewrites of Wish popping up on the internet and my own history of playing script doctor, it only seems logical that I too throw my hat in the ring and submit my own Wish rewrite.
So... if I had a fairy godmother who could Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo me back in time to when this movie was written, this is what I would change.
People willingly giving their wishes to Magnifico
It would have been better if Magnifico took peoples wishes from them without their knowledge. It would have made him a better villain. He could take peoples wishes when they are asleep.
Asha
I`d dial down her quirkiness a little. Personalitywise she could be an ambitious overachiever, a mix between Hermoine and Tiana, with an adorkable side.
Valentino
Does everything he says have to be something comical? I like jokes but not all of them landed. It was like his funniness was mandated. Dial down the number of jokes.
Some of the songs
It`s not that the songs are bad per se, some of them just don`t fit into the scenes where they are used, like "At all cost".
They should either have :
A: Given Julia Michaels more time and let her be more involved in the production. (Howard Ashman was very involved in the making of The Little Mermaid.)
or
B: Hired people experienced in musicals. Maybe the people who wrote the songs for Wicked, Hadestown or Hazbin Hotel?
Magnifico needing a book to be evil
The biggest problem this movie has is that it couldn`t decide if Magnifico should be a redeemable, three dimensional antagonist or a classic Disney Villain, so it did both and the results were underwhelming.
I would have made him a twist villain, but instead of waiting for the third act I would reveal it near the end of the first. He would be a charismatic leader, great at fooling people that he has their best interests at heart. In the end, his paranoia would get the better of him.
To Starboy or not to Starboy, that is the question.
At first I wasn`t gonna bother with the whole Starboy thing since it`s not really an issue. The movie`s biggest problem lies in how they wrote King Magnifico. However, a while ago I saw a video on youtube by ColeyDoesThings who talked about what the movie could have been if they had gone the Starboy route, and she made some compelling arguments. So for this rewrite I`ve decided to go with the Starboy idea.
Starboy`s personality could be a lot like Aladdin, a little bit like Peter Pan with a pinch of Ariel. (Why Ariel? Because similar to her, he wants to be where the people are, he wants to see, wants to see 'em dancin'. You know, all that stuff.) He would be a bit of a contrast to Asha.
I did not change Star becase I thought it was necessary, but because I thought it sounded interesting.
I would also make Hal and Bazeema gay and have them kiss eachother in the end.
Plot
Asha prepares to interview for the job of Magnifico's apprentice on the day of her grandfather Sabino's 100th birthday.
When Asha is around, her mother and Saba put on a happy face for her, when she leaves they become a bit apathetic. This is something that many people in Rosas over the age of 18 (who have had their wishes taken) do.
She leads tourists through the town as she sings about what an amazing place it is and what an awesome king they have in "Welcome to Rosas". She rehearses for her job interview with her friends,
There are three wishes that the king refuses to grant:
Wishes about killing people.
Wishes about making someone fall in in love with someone else.
Wishes about bringing people back from the dead.
If you wish to become a magician you`ll have to become the king`s apprentice (and you don`t have to be 18.)
Queen Amaya shows up and takes Asha to Magnifico. At first it goes a little shaky because she`s nervous but then it goes well and Magnifico thinks she is worthy to be his apprentice.
They sing a duet, but not "At all cost". It is a song about optimism and ambition, about what a great student/mentor team they`ll make. The chorus could go:
Magnifico: "With you as my student!"
Asha: "With you as my guide!"
Both: "Great things will happen with you by my side!"
Something like that.
The interview is over and Asha leaves Magnifico`s study.
She is excited. She gets to work with the king! The most awesome king in the world! She does a dorky little victory dance. Valentino shows up, he snuck into the castle with her. Asha starts chasing him, she doesn`t want him to break something expensive, she really wants this job!
Valentino sneaks in through a door to a big (and probably forbidden) room and knocks down an ancient scroll. Asha picks up the scroll to put it back where it was, then she notices the title: How to remove someone`s wish.
Remove? The king grants wishes, he doesn`t take them!
She tries to convince herself not to read it, it`s not meant for her eyes, it`s classified, but her curiosity gets the better of her. She reads in the scroll that the spell should not be used on people under the age of 18. The individual who has had their wish removed becomes docile and free of aspirations, and in some rare cases, even lethargic (just like Simon). They will feel like something is missing from their life but are not able to put their finger on what.
She refuses to believe this. This can`t be true! Magnifico wouldn`t do something like this! He`s a good king!... Right? There are magical orbs of light floating in the ceiling, she takes a ladder and climbs up so that she can get a better look at them. One of the orbs shows a woman that wishes she could fly, another a woman who wishes to sail the seas, another a man who wishes to climb a muntain, and one of the orbs shows... her Saba! It is true, the king takes peoples wishes from them!
She climbs down, puts the scroll back and leaves the room quietly with Valentino under her arm.
She`s about to leave the castle through the main gate when Magnifico shows up. He tells her that there will be a wish-granting ceremony later that evening and he wants her to be present. Asha is nervous, but not a "OMG! I`m meeting my hero!" kind of nervous, but a "Hope he doesn`t figure out that I went into a forbidden room and saw things I shouldn`t have seen" kind of nervous. He seems not to notice, but at soon as Asha leaves the room we see that he did.
Later that evening there`s a wish-granting ceremony, a woman gets her wish granted, the people cheer for Magnifico and Asha sits there next to the queen, stiff and nervous.
Later that night: Asha tries to tell her family the truth about Magnifico, but they don`t believe her. Distraught, Asha runs away and makes her own wish on a star as she sings "This wish". (Not a bad song, but it could have used better lyrics in some places.)
Starboy appears and surprises Asha who smacks him with her sketch-book. (Meet-cute!)
Magnifico senses Starboy's arrival and sees it as a threat to his power.
Starboy doesn`t really grant wishes per se. He`s only as helpful as giving the means, but it’s up to the wishmaker to put the work in order to have their wish fulfilled.
Starboy's magic brings the forest to life, giving voices to the animals, plants and Valentino. They sing "I`m a star", but with better lyrics. (No "we're all shareholders" or "Get that through your system. Solar!") Asha, Valentino, and Starboy embark on a mission to recover Sabino's wish. She wants to save all the wishes, but if she can only save one she`ll have to focus on Sabino`s.
Tension rises in Rosas, Magnifico makes a public appearence and promises a great reward for any information relating to the strange light phenomenon. This makes Simon react. The residents of Rosas begin questioning his rule for the first time. Magnifico gets uncomfortable, leaves and sings "This is the thanks I get" (But sinister, not upbeat, and no "I let you live here fo free and I don't even charge you rent"). Asha and Starboy takes not only Sabino`s wish but a few other wishes as well and uses Starboy`s cape as a sack.
Asha returns Sabino's wish and he is overjoyed to have his memories back and sings "A wish worth making", playing his lute. They get ready to take the sack with the other wishes and return them to their rightful owners when King Magnifico bursts into the family's home. He has been informed by a mole that Asha was responsible for Starboy's arrival. He crushes Sakina's wish as punishment, rendering her overcome with grief. Starboy tries to defend her and is spotted by Magnifico, who vows to capture him. Asha and her family flee with Starboy. Sakina can barely stand after what Magnifico did to her wish, so Starboy uses his magic to give her the strength to walk. In all the chaos they unfortunately leave the other wishes in their home, Magnifico takes them as his own. Sabino and Sakima hide somewhere safe while Asha goes back to Rosas to free the rest of the wishes.
Later, in Magnifico`s study: Simon enters and feels bad for selling out his friend, King Magnifico tells him that what he did was necessary for the safety of the kingdom and that Asha won`t be hurt. He turns Simon into a knight, not in a public wish-granting ceremony though, but right there in his study.
Later, a brainwashed Simon is walking the streets with the company of other knights, searching for Asha and the rest of her friends. Asha sees him and looks for a place to hide. She finds her friends` hideout, not because of Valentino`s butt, but because of his sense of smell. She rallies the rest of her friends, Queen Amaya shows up and joins them.
Asha and her friends start making a plan.
Later, in King Magnifico`s secret lab: King Magnifico has made a staff, Amaya shows up and tells him what Asha and her friends are planning.
Gasp! Queen Amaya is a villain! (Dun dun dunn!)
She and Magnifico sing an evil duet villain song which is kinda similar to "With you by my side".
Asha`s friends infiltrate Magnifico's study to open up the ceiling and free the wishes while Asha plans to distract Magnifico. She and Starboy hides in the woods, she is nervous, Starboy tries to comfort her, so they talk a little. The talking leads to feelings being revealed which leads to singing. They sing "At all costs" and dance a romantic dance, first on the surface of a lake, then high up in the sky. (Thanks to Starboy`s magic.) Starboy gives Asha a magic wand to use as he leaves to help her friends, he then notices that he is getting weaker. Magnifico arrives, he and Asha fights. Magnifico turns out to be Simon disguised with an illusion and he breaks Asha`s wand, Asha finds a way to knock him out using the environment to her advantage.
Her friends almost free the wishes but are betrayed by Queen Amaya. Starboy tries to stop her but she pulls out a dagger and threatens to kill one of Asha`s friends, Magnifico shows up and zaps Starboy with magical chains that he can`t break free from.
Asha returns to the city, is caught by Magnifico, finds Starboy in magical chains and finds out that Queen Amaya was just a mole. Magnifico darkens the sky with clouds so that the people won`t be able to wish on stars.
Asha (to Magnifico): "I believed in you! I thought you were a good king!"
Magnifico: "I`m not a good king. I`m a GREAT king!"
All hope seems lost, Asha starts to sing the reprise to "This wish", her friends and the people of Rosas join her and their singing makes Starboy strong enough to break free from his chains. The breaking of the chains creates a shockwave that knocks Asha, Amaya and Magnifico off the tower. Starboy, still weakened, only has enough strength to save one of them, so he saves Asha.
With Magnifico defeated, his spell powers down as a new day dawns over the kingdom, with the citizens, Asha's mother included, are able to get their wishes back, afterwards, Asha is soon confronted by a regretful Simon, who understands if she doesn`t want to forgive him, but she does as she understands why he did it.
Starboy keeps getting weaker and has to go back, he gives Asha a new wand and the two of them say good bye. She wonders if she`ll ever see him again, he tells her that he`ll be the second star to the right.
With urging from her friends, Asha promises to help others earn their wishes as a Fairy Godmother, aiding everyone in making their dreams come true.
Post-credit scene: One year later: Asha is walking to the wishing tree in her fairy godmother outfit. She walks past a grave stone. Sabino is sitting in the tree playing "When you wish upon a star" on his lute. A tear rolls down Asha`s cheek. After Sabino has played the song he disappears as if he was a ghost. We see that the grave stone that Asha walked past earlier was Sabino`s. She wipes away her tear, looks up at the second star to the right, takes out her wand and teleports to some place where she might be needed.
And that`s how I would do it. Not great but hopefully not bad.
I cut "Knowing what I know now" because it was getting a little tight between songs. It would be hard to fit that song, Magnifico and Amaya`s villain song and "At all costs" so close to each other, while still maintaining a good narrative flow.
At first I wasn`t gonna turn Queen Amaya evil because I couldn`t come up with enough evil stuff for her to do (that I could fit into the plot without making it worse). But then I made her a villain because it would make things harder for Asha and her friends, which would make the movie more interesting.
But like I said before, the movie`s biggest problem is not that the Queen wasn`t evil, but that the writers couldn`t pick a lane when deciding if they wanted to make Magnifico a three-dimensional antagonist or a classic Disney Villain.
And now... a Bonus
One more thing about Frozen 2
Turning Kristoff`s Lost in the woods into a cheesy 1980s rock ballad musicvideo
I was gonna have this in my Frozen 2 CC but forgot and didn`t remember until after I published it. Since I don`t wanna go back and edit it I`ll write it here.
This scene is admittedly entertaining and if you don`t care about tone as long as it`s entertaining it`s fine.
But funny songs works better for funny characters and what Kristoff is singing about feels sincere, which clashes with how the song is executed.
The 1980s rock sound: Lose it.
The visuals: Have Kristoff walking around in the woods, seeing things that, to him, looks like Anna: a pile of rocks, a pile of leaves, a cloud in the sky. Stuff like that.
Probably an unpopular opinion.
It is of course very easy for me to write these because I have the luxury of hindsight. And unlike the filmmakers I didn`t have a movie studio full of corporate suits breathing down my neck, focus grouping the movie to death, forcing in unnecessary changes and pressuring me to get it made before a deadline.
Why do I write these?
For several reasons. I`m nitpicky. Sometimes the movies I criticize aren`t bad, I just like my own ideas better. Sometimes the movies I critize are bad. I care about good storytelling and it`s a fun excerize in creativity and script doctoring.
But also because I have a lot of of free time.
---------------------------------------------
Other movies on my Constructive Criticism list that you can look forward to
Supergirl (1984) Jonah Hex (2010) Dragonball evolution The Spirit (2008) The Dark Knight trilogy
And as usual: English is not my first language, so if my writing doesn`t seem to flow naturally, you know why.

I’ve seen many posts about people complaining about “boring HOTD OCs,” so I challenge everyone to put their money where their Disney trivia’s at! No I haven't watched the RoR trailer.
Yes, I still have thoughts.
Mostly griping under the cut.
The Fairy Godmother declining to invite Red in the past is probably the only smart move she ever made.
If Auradon and Wonderland had a conflict (war, amassing of armies, whatever the fuck canon expects us to believe) that caused Wonderland to be sealed off, why would she expect Red to want to come to Auradon Prep? That would have been inviting even more trouble than any of the Isle kids were capable of causing.
so much about the premise of this movie confuses me so much. How does Uma know about Red in the first place? Much less think it's a good idea for her to be there. Wonderland isn't actually a part of Auradon but she can demand Red comes to Auradon prep??? is that what i'm supposed to be getting from this?
oh and im so glad she's in this movie just to do FUCK ALL and sit there and wait to be saved. as if Uma couldn't handle the situation all on her own. like you expect me to believe she's accepted responsibility for this school and these kids but there's an attack and she sits there and does absolutely nothing the whole time.
Or even Mal! You expect me to believe Mal doesn't hear about this and come running back to try and save the day? Ms. "protector and Queen of Auradon and the Isle"?
They seriously brought back one of the most iconic Cinderellas just for this complete and total nonsense?
Also the Queen of Hearts has magic now? Is that really the direction we're going with? So much for the whole "the Fairy Godmother's Wand is the most powerful magic item in the kingdom!" nonsense.
So much plot bullshit. So much screams "cash grab!!!! give us money for our merch!!!!" So much that is just plain insulting to the animated movies that these movies are APPARENTLY BASED ON.
This wasn't meant to be Once Upon a Time meets The School for Good and Evil.

Some drawings of Ericka and Alice, or as I like to call the BrOTP ship, Deadly Angel. I love the idea of these two cartoony badass spooky queens together.
1 and 2. Ericka reassuring her pal Alice after the Fairy Godmother attacked, threatening Alice and her family. She relates to Al in many ways: they have a similar story, personality, and taste in men. And both are Ex-murderesses trying to do better but still haunted by guilt of their past selve's crimes. They also both have self-esteem issues due to past judgement by others and have perfectionism to get over. Though Alice isn't nearly as brave or quite as optimistic as her human gal pal. Most of her life has been hiding and planning for every little thing that went wrong lest she gets sent back to the dark puddles, thinking she was an ugly twisted version of her true self who needed to be beautiful and PERFECT to be happy. Having friends around to reassure her and take her mind off things is...new to her. Esoecially with her fears of her dangerous Susie side.
Note: Like the original, Alice has 2 personalities living within her: the innocent toon and the hurt corrupted woman she used to be - Susie Campbell. In me and @lovelylivelyv 's headcanon, Susie is the one behind the evil deeds of Twisted Alice, while Alice was trapped inside largely forced into going along with it until Susie's soul was largely put to rest. Now, Alice is largely in control, although Susie is still hidden in there and Alice still has her memories...though they feel like they happened to someone else. While she has control over her transformations largely, Alice can also change forms and voice when upset or angry. She's still not quite as stable as, say, Boris.
Bonus: Protective Ericka's evil smile, Bad Ass Monsterfucker Pun and the idea Ericka likes playing the BATIM lever challenge as a training game!
3. In WIR-Verse, ice has this prank she'll sometimes do, offering a fake Tommy gun just to watch with a smile as it melts in their hands....well, she may be redeemed as Alice in the "vivisecting and murder" department. But she's not a fallen angel for NOTHING...
4. Ericka asks about the mysterious Milla Legna tapes, having worked out Alice was the true Milla because of the Legna Angel anagram. Alice is a bit embarrassed of Susie's deeds, but Ericka not only doesn't judge, but compliments it! And Alice returns the favor by good-naturedly teasing Ericka about her monsterfucker Pan-ic. XD
Bonus Baby Jack! Being a monster baby, I figure he can make some strange noises in addition to normal baby babble, like Ink Bendy's "Moo" noises.
5. 2 Debbie's talking shop! Some point after the Dark Revival update, Ericka comes to check out her friend's new second pair and finds Alice has a whole setup of electric chairs! After some good natured ribbing (showing Alice has grown to accept her murderous side a bit and to trust her friend not to judge it) I'm sure Ericka wants to play with the setup. She's a Debbie fan and she's never gotten to play with electric chairs before!
Bonus: In this picture is Eddie, Ericka's swoobat, as well as 2 of Alice's pokemon: Susie the Mawile and Betty the Meloetta.
6. Remember how I said both Ericka and Alice have similar tastes? This one plays with that. XD Bonus Addams Family "Howling Demons" joke and smol baby Jack. BTW, "Heavenly sin" is based on @thedopedemon 's work!
7. It's not just Ericka reassuring Alice. Alice knows how to cheer up Ericka too when criticism from others starts getting to her. She refuses to see ANYONE go through the pain she did alone.

Lady Lesso x Reader
A/N: based on this post. self-indulgent au so reader has glasses and some ooc characters. reader has that small ravenna vibe
Tumblr media
"Lady Lesso," you gritted through your teeth.
Lesso did the same thing when she slips your name from her lips. This is the third time you've seen her this week, unfortunately, going towards the School for Good.
"Students might mistake the Deans switching schools if you wish to continue visiting like this." You sneered.
She poses unfazed, maintaining her gaze on the hallway, yet her grip on her cane tightens.
"It is more of a threat that a queen makes the harmless citizens cower of their safety for almost lodging here on the basis of the frequency of their visits." She grins, glancing at you sideways. "Not so much of an Ever, hmm?"
Aware of her glance, you tried to have a stoic expression, failing miserably as your lips are forming a tiny smirk before responding.
"Well then, it is another win for the Good. Beating you even in your own expertise? The supposed 'villains' losing in their own game?" You mocked with a concerned tone, knowing that the Dean is a competitive woman who wants Evil to win again after centuries.
She slams her cane on the ground, halting to a stop as she hates that you have once again ridiculed her and because both of you finally reached your destination. The office of the Dean for School of Good.
You noticed and gently knocked on the door, hearing her audible disdain towards your action. The Dean inside opened the door with her magic, inviting you to help yourselves.
Clarissa gleefully greeted you, whereas she did the same with Lady Lesso but the glee was more toned down.
You smiled. "Busy on preparing yourself for the ball, princess?"
You can feel Lesso's glare piercing through you without actually looking at her. Clarissa was about to answer but Lesso was faster to comment about your question.
"She is the Dean of the School for Good. Does that suggest anything to you?" Lesso shrugs her shoulders after the remark.
Clarissa, seeing the two throwing daggers with eyes in front of her, stepped in and changed the topic.
"So, what brings the two of you here? I would love to hope it's not about work," Clarissa remarks, sighing as she decides to temporarily forget the paperworks and preparations for the ball.
You didn't know how to answer. You haven't had the courage to ask her out to the ball, even before as schoolmates. You happened to figure out that Lesso was inviting her today that you impulsively came here and visited.
Lesso saw your hesitation, but didn't point it out because she herself is a nervous wreck. She cannot believe that she would be doing the things she never considered during her tenure as a student in the school, particularly the dawdling of women to their princes or villains.
She pulled a box out of her coat, placed it on the Dean's table, and left without saying a word. You just stared at her departing, leaving the two of you alone. It was strange of the Dean of Evil to not take advantage of your freezing earlier, but you arrived at a decision to simply ask Clarissa personally and understand whatever her decision is.
You fixed your glasses as you loathed watching the two Deans' interaction on the ball. You shouldn't be here, yes, but you've decided to still attend because you knew Clarissa would feel bad that you didn't show up because she turned you down. You also knew that Lesso was turned down by the fairy godmother as well, but that doesn't console your disappointment because they still get to be with each other at the ball for their duties.
You strayed away from the crowd, but it is hardly helpful because you still catch the attention of the students, with some teachers (and even students) having the guts to ask if you will grace them with your presence tonight. You politely declined every single one and went to the table near the door so you could easily escape.
You drank another sip of alcohol from your hidden stash and walked outside of the hallway when everyone was already occupied, not wanting to further go through your bitterness. What you didn't know was that two pairs of eyes did not miss you leaving the ball, both are contemplating if they should follow you.
One did. She knew where you would attempt to go at this hour. And when she saw you observing the view from the bridge, her hunch was proven right.
You didn't know you were followed. You simply craved for a breath of fresh air after what felt like an eternity of suffering inside. It doesn't help that the confusion you felt days ago with Lesso's action is insistent on bothering you. You suddenly cannot think of your next move.
"Your Majesty."
You searched for the source of the voice, and there was the then Head of Magical History Department—currently the beautification professor—standing in the distance beside you.
"Professor Anemone," you greeted back, smiling. You didn't have the energy to socialize, but I guess a company wouldn't hurt now.
"Emma is fine, your Majesty."
"I suppose it would be fair that you can also refer to me with my name, Emma."
She nods, unsure if she can really call you that. You think it was the alcohol spike in your system that you thought she was acting like a shy girl asking someone out.
"Were you not enjoying the ball?" She carefully asks, aware of your possible answer but she doesn't want to conclude.
"I do. It's just that I don't believe I should be here when I am neither a student or staff here."
She listens as you listed another reason why you wanted to get out of the event and how you decided to ditch your attendance at the last minute. You were glad that she didn't follow a question related to what you just told her, and simply joined you in silence as you took in the surroundings.
Until a few minutes after, she gathered all the courage to drop the question she's been wanting to ask you.
"Will you dance with me, Your Majesty?"
You turned your head in her direction, subtly widened your eyes in shock and confusion with her question. She notices and clarifies her intention, not wanting you to get a hint that she fancies you.
"I mean, because you're already here, then why not gladly spend the rest of the night instead of gloating here?" She finishes, offering her hand towards you.
She stares at you expectantly with a glint of nervousness in her eyes, waiting for your answer. You were reluctant to accept because you don't want to lead her on and make her feel that you accepted because the person you desired refused to be your date.
You didn't take her hand. Instead, you stand beside her and offer your arm that she can lock with. She put her arm around yours with a smile then proceeded to walk with you back at the ball.
When you came back, the orchestra was already playing its last song, which happened to be a slow one. Perfect timing since you have a dance partner. You turned to Emma as she released her arms from the link and kindly asked her hand for the dance. She took it and you let your bodies sway into the rhythm of the music. You hope this night would let you momentarily forget your worries for the past few days.
On the other side of the room, Lesso and Clarissa were sitting, observing the students in the case that one decides to misbehave. Most teachers left the ball before the last song played, so the probability of students deciding to explore was higher. Clarissa watched Lesso when she saw Anemone coming back with you.
The fairy godmother was tired of seeing you dancing around each other so she had to take matters into her own hands, wholeheartedly believing that you were using her as the vessel and messenger of your love with one another (the last straw being that moment you and Lesso asked Clarissa in her office which she "confirmed" that you two were in love).
She knows it is terrible that she hinted to Anemone you were coming alone, fully aware of the woman's attraction towards you, but she needed it so Lesso would come to her senses.
She observed as Lesso's face contorts into one in jealousy as you close your distance with the beautification professor.

Favorite Fairies Results and Final Thoughts:
Tumblr media
Tinker Bell from Peter Pan wins the Tournament!
A close final round as Rani, the Water Talent Fairy, gave our winner her closest match.
Now before we go any further, lets give a big round of applause to all the fairies and fae who were nominated and competed. Just because they didn't win we don't want them to think we don't believe in them!
Rani does get a few crowns of her own: she was the Favorite from the Disney Fairies series characters, and she received by far the most submissions. If you counted all the submissions (including the non-Disney ones) she was more than 10% of them!
We also don't want to go without recognizing a few other moments. LIlia Vanrouge! What a great fan base he has?! His and Maleficent's battle was the most voted in and decided by only 8 votes (less than 2%)! And we saw y'all trying again against Fairy Godmother making our second most voted in poll this tournament!
There were few other close first round matches as well, just a difference of 3 votes could have shanked up the tournament!
On the other side, Silvermist: She got on the bracket by being in of the top 5 submitted characters, yet never did anyone give us propaganda for her! She did get some support in the tags, and was able to defeat the Disney Fairies version of Tinker Bell to make it to the semis.
If you had asked us to fill out a bracket considering how we imagined the voting going, we had a very different expectation. We saw Tinker Bell's only real competition being Maleficent. And we must have been feeling a premonition for the horn aesthetic because we thought the Mistress of Evil was going to win it all...
Thank you to everyone who participated in our mini tournament with submissions, asks, reblogs, likes, tags, and/or anything else. We would not have been able to do this with out you.
Finally the results you have all been truly waiting for: Where do you prefer to watch movies?
Tumblr media
All of the propaganda was taken from the submission forms. The only character which had excessive amounts was Rani. Because she made it to the semis we were able to use all of it! Everyone else was the same each round.
The Art We Used:
We tried our best to use all the images which were submitted in the form. If a character had two different pics we used one for the bracket graphic and one for the face off graphics (eg Princess Marianne). Since Rani had more than three submitted pictures, we rotated through them for the face off graphics. (we added one on each side for the finals) For the few which had no submitted pictures we used pictures from the wiki (usually the profile picture).
The backgrounds: On the general fairy side and for the bracket, we took frames from Fantasia/Fantasia 2000's segments (like the Nutcracker Suite). On the Disney Fairies side they were all scenery from the Tinker Bell movies. These were lightened to not distract from the matches. The Finals background was from Pinocchio.
The font we found by googling. The site is fontspace.com and the name is 'Botanink'

Granted Surprise - Dovesso
A little origin story of how Dovey got used to Lesso calling her princess. Please note that english is NOT my first language, and I haven't read any SGE book! (I based this on the movie, and I swear I will read the books sometime.)
Enjoy <3
Tumblr media
The first time it slipped out of Lesso's tongue, she had said it out of want— curiosity overtaking her. Knowing the good dean had been known famously as Cinderella's fairy godmother, always taking care of princesses and never being one herself. For Lesso, it had been said out of snark. A tease to pull a nerve. Maybe two. But Dovey had taken a step back that moment, bewilderment echoing on every inch of her face at the well-lit school library for Good. Her reaction had been the opposite of what Lesso had in mind. Nevertheless, she liked the small part between Dovey's lips, the little furrow of her eyebrows, and all the emotions gathering all at once in those beautiful eyes. The reaction was nothing but subtle. You could see, plain as the night sky, the complication of Dovey's feelings.
"Princess?" Dovey repeated, as though Lesso had mistaken her for one. It wasn't the intention, of course, but the dean could play along. Dovey turned around, her back facing Lesso as she fakes a giggle. "Ridiculous! Nonsense... nonsense." Her lips felt dry, and the room started heating up. Dovey calms herself down on the corner of the library between two dusty bookshelfs.
Leonora crossed her arms, examining the entirety of the situation. What would she get out of this? What more could she get of this? Dovey had reacted well to her liking. She figured that was it. Her cue to leave, that is. But she continued looking at Dovey's back, hunched over as she breathed deep and soft. Lesso lets out a small chuckle. "It was a mere word."
Like an actress' cue on a movie scene, Clarissa turned swiftly. The complications and mixed emotions that had translated in her face turned into something of fury.
"A word that is not true. I am anything but."
Lesso raises a suspicious eyebrow, "Is that insecurity I hear? Isn't the School for Good about being beautiful and all that bullshit?" The opposite was taught in the School for Evil. But the polar opposite schools taught one thing in common on all its students; acceptance. The beautiness and ugliness of everything that you are and that comes with you. There is no honest truth without the importance of acceptance. Just a farce.
The professor frowned at the profanity, looking away from Lesso's piercing gaze. "Don't even start, Lesso." She inhaled sharply, now moving past the said and unsaid things. She grabbed the hem of her dress as she walked past by the dean. "I have a class in 10." And with that, Dovey disappeared behind the two golden doors screaming of richness and of great value. Lesso would have to give it to Dovey for always brushing things off within seconds. Minutes, if she felt like it.
Leonora glares with certainty at the two golden doors. What a princess.
The second time, it had been around the other professors and the school master. It was intentional. To get a rise out of everyone but most especially at the targeted figure. The evil dean did not know why she had felt like saying it, especially around these tyrants. But the word was itching to get out of her every time Dovey's within earshot, and it just so happens Lesso loves to have that itch scratched this very moment. Dovey stared at Lesso with such confusion and hate. Good does not hate, Lesso remembered thinking, but it was a beautiful look on Dovey. She mentally chuckles.
"Lesso—"
"Yes, Princess?" Her tone was taunting, a one she wishes would perfectly rot all the goodness within Dovey. Lesso leans back in satisfaction and anticipation of what will happen next, of what emotion Dovey displays this time, and if she could ever control it and move past it like the last time.
The woman in question looks around frantically, embarrassed for both herself and Lesso. Dovey looked wary and aware of her surroundings and inviting the evil dean to be the same. But of course, Lesso couldn't care less. She wanted to see, for some reason, a look on Dovey's face. The explosion of it all. She crosses her arms, throws a daunting smirk, and tilts her head menacingly. She was inviting Dovey as well. And it went on like that for minutes, with the atmosphere granting nothing but stillness and thrill. The good and evil professors watched them profusely, batting eyes at Dovey, Lesso, and the invisible line that separates the two of them. They had known for quite a while the cockiness and evilness of Lesso, she'll kind of give it away the instant you meet her. So it wasn't really a surprise witnessing this moment right now.
Dovey exhales, slowly. She takes her time as she presses the heel of her palm against the long table, standing up while looking at Lesso. The veins in her neck were visible as she said, "Can we talk in private?"
Lesso replied with, "And leave the audience questioning the ending?" she smiles, "I do not think so. That would be rude."
"I'm sorry, let me rephrase that." She glances around at the said audience. They looked away the instant. Then she glanced back at Lesso, feeling the hard thrumming of her heart against her chest. The hatred she feels for this woman was excruciating. "Let's talk in private, Lesso."
"Was that a command, Princess?"
Dovey bites the inside of her cheek, hoping she was biting Lesso's ferocious mouth instead. And no, she did not mean that as some kind of a sexual thing.
"Yes. I'm commanding you to talk with me in private, Lesso. Now."
There was some sense of urgency in her voice, some bitterness as well that hints Dovey was not at all enjoying this. Just like what Lesso expected and liked. Without any word, she stands up as well, not breaking eye contact with Dovey. Lesso found it challenging the very first seconds, just then noticing the similarities between Dovey's eyes and the deepness of both the ocean and the universe. It doesn't make any sense at all, but it was the only thing Lesso could think of to compare at that moment.
When Lesso heaved a sigh, Dovey was the first to break and strove on her flat shoes away from the others. Lesso followed her shortly, walking just a few steps behind her, only delaying since it was hard to strut as fast as Dovey when wearing heels.
Lesso could feel the eyes of the professors and the school master aimed at her back.
Perhaps it was better they missed this part of the show.
Soon enough, Dovey led them inside one of the school's hidden rooms that consisted only of the things of those students who had failed classes 3 times and were transformed into whatever creature that sucked. Lesso closed the door behind and when she turned around... there it is.
"You look mad." The evil dean commented, there was a small curve on the side of her lips at the sight of Dovey's current situation.
"Princess?" Dovey scoffed. "Of all evil things that you could call me, that's what you picked up on?"
Lesso shrugged her shoulders, seeming ignorant. "It fits you."
"It's not even an insult!"
"Then why are you insulted?"
Dovey stopped at that, her chest rising up and down as she panted. The room felt hot again, and it was like the air was closing in on her, and she wouldn't be able to breathe the next 2 minutes.
She didn't let herself be, of course. She pulled herself together. She had to. She wasn't about to break down and cry in front of the very person she'd rather bury herself alive than be in a room with.
Dovey clears her throat, looking down at the ground and the gap between Lesso's heels. She frowns, "I don't appreciate you calling me Princess... much less with the teachers and the school master around." She announces without meeting Lesso's gaze.
Lesso tuts. "Are you commanding me?"
"I help princesses." Dovey emphasizes, and she feels her heart's walls thickening and pushing against. "I am not one."
The other dean leans against the door, crossing her arms as she did. She scanned Dovey from her adorable headpiece to the flat shoes she wears. She had plenty of the same shoes but with different colours. Unlike Lesso, who had many variations of shoes with different heights.
"I do what I want."
Lesso left without a word right after that, satisfaction ringing in her every step, leaving Dovey completely dumbfounded— irked. Dovey had tons of nerves, and she was able to pull all of them conventionally. Just what the hell was Lesso's problem? I mean, Dovey gets it, the whole being evil thing and that. But why does it have to be her, of all people? There was Emma, who is all about beauty. Not that Dovey wanted Emma to feel the same as she does when Lesso teases her, but she was the better target between the two. So why, God, why did Lesso have to pick her? She hadn't done anything to upset the evil dean. As a matter of fact, she had been cheerful and giddy the first time she met Lesso. Kind. And Lesso had glared daggers at her, perfecting it with a mischievous and smug smirk. Dovey could still remember the intimidation Lesso caused. She had shivered in her position at that moment.
Dovey caught herself against one of the walls facing the door and took a moment to keep it all together. She didn't mean to overreact, nor did she mean to storm off of the private meeting. But there was something about Lesso, the princess calling, and the look she gave her every single time. Something so deeply irritating.
She couldn't put a pin on it. And she does not wish to waste her time trying to. She'd just reason that it was Lesso. Simply Lesso.
Dovey nodded her head at herself, decisive.
The most recent time Lesso had called her princess, Dovey hadn't reacted. She hadn't shifted uncomfortably in her position. She hadn't frowned. She hadn't shot a dreadful glare at Lesso, nor did she demand a private chat. She just went on with what she was doing; looking over at books for her next class. There had been a great improvement in regards to the School for Good and its lessons to its students. Dovey just can't be truly sure if it was an improvement she agrees on, but nonetheless, there were rules to follow.
Leonora visibly looked a bit excited at this development. Dovey caught it and chuckled. The evil dean takes a step closer from where Dovey was working. "Well, this is a surprise." Granted surprise. Lesso comments, her eyes observing the tiniest inch of Dovey's face to see if there was anything, anything at all, that could hint her that this was a facade. That Dovey had practised herself into not reacting. But there wasn't. Lesso bit her lip, "Princess it is."
"What book did you need again?" Clarissa asks, moving past it and hoping Lesso would do the same. She did. Lesso places her arms on her sides and starts off the furthest corner of the room. Dovey walked behind her. There was a bookshelf with a title on the top, 'Beauty Spells'. Lesso grabbed the thickest book on the display. "You're grabbing a beauty spell book." She points at it.
"We need more ugly spells. I can't have never students this year be particularly into their looks." Lesso scans the book, brushing off Clarissa's eyebrows furrowing.
"Beauty spells doesn't exactly help with that." There was a humour in her tone, a friendly remark. Lesso can't decide whether she should let it be or comment on it to completely get rid of whatever was on Dovey's mind that could clue her Lesso didn't mind being... casual. She definitely minds.
Lesso went around Dovey, walking past her. She could hear distant footsteps behind. "I don't need anything more, Princess." And the footsteps halted.
She sighs as she exits the library, but not without Dovey's, "That is a beauty spell book, Lesso!" shouted from across the library. Lesso mentally laughs at Dovey's brazeness. All evers are brazen, she realizes. And it is exactly why she doesn't get along with them. Lesso loved shame. The petrified look on people's faces as they realize what they had done was more than an embarrassment. It was art in her eyes. Evers were an offence to that.
This time, when Lesso had called her princess— Dovey smiled. Like a true, genuine smile. Perhaps it was also because of the context and the scene before them. But Dovey smiled at the nickname, Princess, which Lesso had been throwing around to spite her back then.
"What do you know?" Dovey confidently speaks, "Good wins again!" She sang cheerfully, her chest exploding in warmth and joy as the Ever students broke into screams of success and effort. It was a good and exciting battle, and Dovey hadn't doubted her students a tiny bit. They had been well-trained all year round. And God knows Clarissa had spent all the time she could to harness them.
Lesso sulks behind her. "What do you know." There was sarcasm haunting her voice. Dovey only giggles at it. "Next year, it will be us. We have to balance it out, Clarissa. Good has been winning for almost a hundred years. That is not something we can just approve of."
Dovey scrunches her nose at her. "Next year, then!" She exclaims, not a single ounce of happiness lost at Leonora's snark. Before the evil dean could rain even more on her parade, Dovey descended down the stairs and unto her precious evers. Lesso groans at the sight of it.
"Next year, Princess."

Descendants- Entry #1: Kingdoms, Isles and Lands, Beast's rulling and how it affected the VKs, magic and magical beings
Kingdoms, Isle and Lands
The first thing we learn about descendants in the start of the first movie is that Beauty and The Beast are like 'High' Rulers of all Kingdoms, even with Cinderellasburg (and other Disney princess' kingdoms) existing, they had all control over the decisions that would impact all of Auradon (even if a certain ruler don't agree with the decisions made by the 'higher' ruler). The second is that the barrier between Auradon and The Isle of The Lost exists for 20 YEARS.
Later on, we learn about Wonderland existing and being a whole different than the Isle of the Lost (because in the start of the movies, we just assumed that every villain were in the isle), since Queen of Hearts and Red were confined to Wonderland for 30 years (even tho, the isle's barrier fell, probably, 8 years ago)
And if Wonderland exists, that means Neverland should exist too, even tho Captain Hook and his son, the iconic Harry Hook, were stuck in the Isle of the Lost, which doesn't make any sense.
Beast's Rulling and ho it affected the VKs
When Belle and Beast married and Auradon was formed, Beast made decisions that affected Auradon's citizens perspective of the VKs, leading to a biased society who treats bad those who's parents did evil, even tho anyone could be or become a villain, no matter who their parents were.
And the decisions made by Belle and Beast was (being the biggest Beast hater that I am):
1. Ban all magic (only allowed in events beneficial, like Ben's coronation or Mal's entering to the royal court, to Auradon or to save said kingdom)
2. Not teach dependant (in magic) magical beings on how to control their abilities (JaneJane that even tho she's fairy godmother's daughter she didn't know how to do magic, Mal and others)
3. Bring back to life all of their villains or break them free of their prison that was made to protect others
4. If said villains have children, they will locked up in the same isle as their abusive parents, having zero to none basic life care (food, system and health care).
Magic and Magical Beings
We also learn that magic and magical objects are forbidden in Auradon, which is strange since we see Fairy Godmother use her wand in Ben's Coronation, Mal's entering Court and her Resignation as Auradon Prep's Principal, which means that the use of magic only is permitted if it's beneficent to the kingdom (nah, I'm lying, it's if is beneficial to the royal family).
Jane, even with Fairy Godmother as her mother, didn't know how to control her magic or how to use it, she just knew the basic knowledge of it (how the enchanted lake and magical artifacts work).
As for Mal, she knew how magic worked and how to have some control over it (D1), since she already had some experience with it (the green eye thingy).
And Uma, who's mother was a Sea Witch, also knew a lot about magic and how it works.
The fact that magic in general was prohibited is ridiculous, Fairy Godmother existence is based on magic (she being a fairy already means that), just as Maleficent, she depends on her magic.
Plus, magic in Descendants is so badly explored, we don't know who could use magic (with Merlin Prep being the villains past) and how each of them carried out their destiny as villains and heroes.

Heart Stations (KH spec)
after realising how much Foreshadowing and Sneaky Plot Points were lurking about in KH3's "demo" section, i finally remembered that a LOT of KH3 is done in parallel with KH1: which means that ITS "demo" is ALSO subtly plotty!
The first thing I remembered about Sora's heart station in KH1 is it being able to connect DIRECTLY to the heart stations of Princesses.
despite Sora never having met these princesses before.
except... VENTUS has!
the heart stations that Sora visits in the first Heart Dive belong to Snow White, Cinderella & Aurora: the order of their stations is in the same order as Ven's meeting them in BBS. Ventus befriended Cinderella personally, becoming friendly enough with Snow White & Aurora to have [link] attacks based on them (mostly through his friendship to the dwarves & Aurora's non-evil fairy godmothers).
There is also, in KH1's tutorial, a heart station depicting the three "free" princesses: Alice, Jasmine & Kairi. I had forgotten about this one. It's... interesting that, despite SORA being best friends with Kairi, Sora's heart instead connects to the "idea" of these three princesses altogether rather than individually (if only in the background, given the lack of need for a player to have 7 stages in a tutorial rather than 5). Sora knows Kairi personally but only Ventus could have known Alice or Jasmine, even THEN, his meeting them would have been during KHUX (a time he does not remember in BBS but treasures enough to enable his reunion with Chirithy in KH3).
The last heart station Sora visits in KH1's tutorial heart dive is Belle's: Belle is the princess who Sora ultimately ends up reasonating with most, in his heart at least, and she notably takes on the role of "Riku" to Beast's "Sora" in CoM.
it is EXTREMELY odd that Sora, well before Riku's heart gave him Kingdom Key, was able to directly walk from his heart station to those of the Princesses of Heart: Ventus did not have this ability nor any personal connection with Kairi. There are two plausible explanations as to why Sora's heart was ALREADY connected to that of the Princesses, prior to personally meeting them: Ventus might have joined their hearts by his being an 'artificial' Princess of Light courtesy of Xehanort & Vanitas; RIKU was connected to the princesses and, when Riku gave his crown necklace to Sora, Sora inherited that connection.
Ventus: Artificial Princess of Heart?
this theory is technically canon, working with the definition of princesses as "beings whose hearts are made entirely of light". it seems unlikely that this technicality would result in a metaphysical stairway between Sora's heart station and those of the Prinxesses': if it was THAT easy, Xehanort would have noticed the connection while he had Ven all comatose. Ven's heart being sheltered in Sora's MIGHT, however, explain why the heart stations of Snow White & Cinderella & Aurora were so much closer than the other stations (though the Sleeper/Dreaming connection is a stronger factor shared by Sora & these three).
Riku as Kingmaker?
Sora's first keyblade, Kingdom Key, gets him specifically scouted as Special by Donald & Goofy: Kingdom Key has narrative significance to it, tying it to Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Key was also, originally, an existence dormant in RIKU'S heart: when Riku['s heart] was consumed by darkness in KH1, Sora was able to reach the light within Riku and receive its protection.
the ease with which Sora inherited Riku's keyblade betrays A Lot about Riku's Heart but it ALSO hints that this is not the ONLY example of Riku's Heart being considered interchangeable with Sora's. in later games, Riku and Sora are able to wield each other's keyblades without hesitation and are even capable of merging: other than SoRiku & Sora's Heart Roommates, Aqua is the only instance of someone summoning & wielding another's keyblade.
The keyblade of a deceased Eraqus came to Aqua in her time of need: this makes sense, the keyblade of a teacher coming to protect its student. Eraqus taught Aqua how to call and use a keyblade; Eraqus [knighted] Aqua with this keyblade; Eraqus died with this keyblade, died realising that he had failed his students and that original duty of protecting them.
Sora, meanwhile, began wielding a keyblade because Riku's Heart knew Sora could use it when Riku could not.
So what makes Riku so special, to keyblades and Princesses of Heart specifically?
It seems increasingly likely that Riku is the "Child of Destiny" that Xehanort believed himself to be: Riku's resemblance to Ephemer makes it likely that, just like Xehanort, Riku is his descendant; additionally, the light of Riku's heart was strong enough to catch the attention of both Terra AND Aqua in BBS. Both Terra & Aqua had, by then, met three Princesses of Heart AND lived alongside the artificially-light Ventus: nevertheless, Terra and Aqua only note that Riku's light is "strong" but not in the same way as any heart they'd encountered before.
Riku also, just "incidentally", happens to have had a Crown since infancy (if we quote Sora in CoM but correctly attribute to Riku what he says of Naminé's charm)... that Riku GAVE to SORA, who now wears it as a necklace. A crown necklace that Sora subconsciously gestures to when speaking from "the heart". *insert Necklace Theory here*
so, even before receiving Kingdom Key, Sora had been given a kind of "kingdom's key" through Riku, in symbol & oath.
this leads me to conclude that the CROWN must have connected Sora's heart (which, in DDD, appears a hop skip & a jump away from Riku's) to the Seven Princesses of Heart, the Seven Lights.
which, in turn, leads me to believe that Riku's gift & oath to Sora was significant enough to be recognised as a form of "Coronation": Riku CROWNED Sora, even without knowing it, and did so while meaning it with "all his heart". Riku's Heart recognising & accepting Sora as its "[king?]" (partner? equivalent?) seems to have continued from that Fateful Meteor Shower, throughout Riku's Entire Villain Arc & Redemption, continuing past Sora's failing to exist: Riku has pulled at LEAST two True Love's Sacrifices for Sora, not counting repeats across timelines, just within DDD & KH3. Riku's sacrificing himself has never lasted long enough to learn any repurcussions beyond Sora.exe going offline. SORA'S nonexistence has not significantly affected the integrity of his universe at large, beyond Riku.exe presumably shortcircuiting, which leads me to believe that so long as ONE of the two has a heart where it should be, the potentially disaatrous ramifications of "oh, btw, this one kid's heart has direct access to our universe's suns? should we be worried about that" has been prevented.
(Riku launching himself OUT of said universe to follow Sora? UH. let's just hope Kairi's still in touch with the other Original 7 and can lead the New Lights when it potentially/inevitably becomes necessary?)
Speaking of Kairi...
interestingly, Kairi never really indicates feeling "connected" to Riku.
Kairi feels connected to SORA and HIS heart, something many characters share in common (often very literally). Another product of Riku (& thus Destiny) sharing his role with Sora, when not designating him [his] King absolutely?
Speaking of Kings...
Riku ends up manifesting ANOTHER keyblade, just casually, despite Sora's having Kingdom Key being a Big Deal.
we could dismiss Riku's having Soul Eater in KH1 as "that's Xehanort/Terra/Ansem SoD's heart at work"... but we can't dismiss Riku's STILL having a keyblade post-KH2, Sora wielding the original Kingdom Key while Riku so happens to summon a second keyblade from his heart without any fuss at all??
it is... interesting, that Donald & Goofy never ended up explaining [to the audience] why Kingdom Key SPECIFICALLY was something King Mickey was looking for in the first place.
if it was due to Mickey's searching for the Wayfinder Trio, Donald & Goofy would have been searching for multiple "keyblade WIELDERS" instead of one "KEYBLADE": we can only assume that Xehanort's repeated efforts at starting another ragnarok have sufficiently distracted everyone from Kingdom Key's origins.
I personally find it very heartwarming/plot-foreshadow-y that Kingdom Key has STAYED with Sora, even upon reuniting with a Riku whose heart is at peace again: consciously or otherwise, Riku's heart continues to choose "Sora".
(which, given how likely it is that Riku is the foretold Child of Destiny... means that RIKU'S choosing Sora makes DESTINY choose Sora... for better of for worse, right? plz just let them be married already, Disney: Nomura & Utada have Riku's vows all written and everything)

ROUND 3C, MATCH 3 OUT OF 4!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Saki:
Psychic goth girl who was cast as Cinderella in a school play. The play was so poorly cast overall that the entire script had to be rewritten, thus “Cinderella-ish” was born. Hanajima played a Cinderella dressed in all black, and when confronted by the fairy godmother, she simply wished for meat.
idk if this is what you meant by 'acting' as Cinderella but in-universe she got cast as Cinderella in the school play, and the characters ended up re-writing the entire play to work around her because she was too Goth and disinterested to play a classic Cinderella character.
She plays the best version of Cinderella. All she cared about was going to the ball for the barbecue. The episode she's in is a really good one as well.
Overall Saki is not a Cinderella character, but you did say we could submit them if they were Cinderella in an in-universe play, and that she was! In Season 2 Episode 23 "It's Cinderella-ish", her class puts on a production of Cinderella and she ends up getting cast as the titular role, which a lot of other characters think is crazy because she's this straight-faced, emotionally-repressed, exclusively-wears-black kinda girl. Also her best friend Tohru (the anime's protagonist) gets cast as an evil stepsister, and she's one of the sweetest people ever and has so much trouble being mean to Saki even fakely and vice versa. Of course, Saki has no problems being rude to the Prince Charming character in the play, played by Kyo, a guy who's sweet deep down (but only to Tohru and his adoptive father) but is other wise a hot head who's always getting into fights. So between Saki as Cinderella having a genuine love for her stepsister and a general animosity with the prince, in addition to the fact that when she goes to the ball, all she wants to do is eat, not mingle, she makes for a very interesting Cinderella.
so this shoujo series has a storyline where the class puts on a Cinderella play but instead of the heroine playing Cinderella, shenanigans happen that lead to the heroine's goth best friend, Saki Hanajima, aka Hana-chan, aka Demon Queen, playing the lead role. Hana-chan's Cinderella dresses in all black against the wishes of the play's director, does not give 2 shits about the prince, and is just a general menace to society. I know she's probably not gonna win but I just wanted to share her with all of you bc I love her and the Cinderella-ish arc is to this day some of the funniest shit I've seen in a manga
their high school class decided to randomize who played which characters in their production of Cinderella & the creepy goth girl got cast as Cinderella & her painfully kind-hearted bestie got cast as the evil stepsister (among other mismatched roles) so they rewrote the play into "Sorta Cinderella" & Cinderella became a deadpan, lazy girl who only wants the best for her darling step-sister & who only went to the ball for the food.  in the end, instead of marrying the prince she takes his money & opens a restaurant with her sister & I love that for them <3
Cendrillon:
[Mod's Note: Warning for Persona 5 spoilers]
Her Persona is Cinderella. Her story is about disguising herself as another person to gain acceptance.
Her persona is Cendrillon, the French name for Cinderella and the name of an opera based on the story, and it mirrors her arc in the game. When you boil her down to the essentials, she essentially made a wish that was granted by her....... fairy godtherapist to go from pauper (bland and talentless depressed Sumire) to princess (her dead sister Kasumi, bubbly, personable star gymnast). As far as she sees it, even, it's this transformation that helps her 'get the prince' (read: befriend the protagonist). Why should she win, though? Umm because she's my baby my angel my sweetie my cherub specialist character in fiction and most important girl in the universe. Out of love in your heart for me, tumblr user [REDACTED], vote for her.
GOD I LOVE HER SO MUCH ok ok ok everyone here's my autism. Major spoilers as you get closer to the end btw! - She has three personas, in order they go: Cendrion, Vanadis, Ella. The first and last are taken from Cinderella, with Cendrion being the german name for Cinderella, and of course Ella just being a shortened form of Cinderella. - She does gymnastics, although a lot of her phantom thief design is heavily based off of ballet as well! In particular the black swan mimicking the white swan, and while of course that's not cinderella, it does remind me of how Cinderella was treated in the beginnings of the story - Cinderella and her both have major sibling trauma! It's a huge point about her character. Major spoilers, but she pretends to be her older sister Kasumi for most of the game; the sad truth is that she's in fact the younger sister Sumire. She's pretending to be her older sister because she can't deal with the trauma of that day she ran out into traffic and her sister got hit instead of her. (It does not help that her therapist uses eldritch god powers to gaslight her into thinking she is her sister.) - They're both pretty and also I love sumi so much she's everything to me. unironically the character of all time NOT FOR PROPAGANDA but for mod: image because it can be awkward to find one: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/UyOsg26GnZU/maxresdefault.jpg also!!!! if you're interested in not potentially spoiling people you should call her Kasumi Yoshizawa. If you aren't worried about that though and want to be accurate, Sumire Yoshizawa is better. Or just call her Violet because that's her codename!
Initially introduced as Kasumi, she is a dorky and sweet first-year student who looks up to the protagonist as a mentor and eventually joins the Phantom Thieves in figuring out the fake reality they're trapped in. However, it's revealed that she's actually Kasumi's sister Sumire, who was always stuck in her more talented sister's shadow and yearned to be Kasumi. Unfortunately, she got her wish when her sister died saving her and her therapist brainwashed her into believing herself to be Kasumi. With help from the protagonist, Sumire realizes she was holding herself back and breaks free from her false identity, embracing her true self and rebelling against the hollow utopia. Her initial Persona--an embodiment of her true self--is Cendrillon, and her third tier ultimate Persona is Ella.
Sumire dosen't just pretends to be her dead sister, she was brainwashed into believing to be her by the final act's main villain/her fairy godfather figure, because that was her (misguided by trauma) wish as she believed that her sister was better than her. The final acts has a lot of 'making wishes come true' theme that connects her to Cinderella even more, also she does have a bit of 'save by the prince' thing going on with the game's protagonist
Please please vote my girl!!
Sumire is such a cute and cool character and deserves to leave the life of cinders how the fandom treats her and be a shiny princess!!

The original Snow White is my all time fave Disney movie. I saw it in theater as a kid when they rereleased it. I hate when people who were born after 1985 take something made before the 21st century and apply a 21st century mindset to it. They talk like they want a Snow White who will make an impact as if she didn't make an impact in the original film. If you actually pay attention when watching the original movie you can see the impact that Snow White has on those around her.
I didn't realize how much I liked the OG Snow White until we got a VHS tape of a stage musical that was nearly scene to scene of the OG Snow White. I watched it over and over again with my younger cousins. It held us over until Disney finally released the original Snow White to VHS in 1994, when it broke records and sold 50 million copies worldwide. I ask again, why would current Disney think it's a swell idea to change Snow White so much in the live action remake?
Looking back I really liked how Snow White was mostly show not tell, which is the most important aspect of any movie. But a lot of movies nowadays are full of monologues of what a character needs to do and what's going on and how they're feeling instead of showing us and letting us discern for ourselves.
Snow White's value is timeless, that's why she's endured for so long because she resonates with people all over the political spectrum and why they badly reacted to Disney's remake of Snow White based on Rachel Zegler's words.  Snow White epitomizes values about hard work, not being entitled, and choosing a survivalist mentality instead of a victim "woe is me" mentality. Moreover, it is realistic to have hopes and dreams, but not at the expense of shirking your present responsibilities.  Her world was pulled out from under her and she lost everything she knew, but she got right back up.  Many adults have rent and bills to pay so they couldn't just wallow in their self pity and misery.  They have to go to work and carry on, just like Snow White did.
Snow White is relatable.  Many abuse victims grow up to be abusers at worst or assholes at best. Not their fault but still people like Snow white should be admired, she didn’t expect to receive refuge without earning a living. And Snow White helped the dwarves become better people, she even broke through Grumpy and won his affection.  The dwarves answered to NOBODY, and yet they had to answer to Snow White because they loved her, and then would kill for her by chasing the evil queen to her death.
Snow White is a great example of “the kindness you give to others comes back to you” i.e Snow White helps the baby blue bird find her parents, who then return with her parents to help Snow White. Often times the best indicator of strength isn't whether you reject your circumstances but how you choose to live with them.  Snow White (and Cinderella and Aurora) teaches lessons about emotional strength, optimism, and kindness. Not only are these important lessons, but they should be on par with the lessons that Mulan, Tiana, and Moana teach.   Kindness and optimism are just as important as bravery and leadership.
Femineity is not weak or bad, and masculinity isn't either.  Snow White was strong because she is feminine, not despite it. While it is important to show that women can have masculine traits, it is even more important to show that it is okay for women to have feminine traits.
Side note: The Disney renaissance in the '90s was shaped by a man for whom a large part of his identity was rejected by society, and he was unable to express it, which makes the Renaissance make sense for why there are so many stories about self discovery. But the older films were shaped by a man who had to work hard to keep his company afloat during extremely rough times (World War I and The Great Depression), so those stories featuring hard work and resilience make sense. Walt had said that Cinderella was his favorite heroine and the fairy godmother represented the "miracle" (through Snow White) that launch the company to success.

Vesuviella: Part 2
It’s afternoon now, and in the business of running a shop Julian’s late night visit has slipped your mind entirely. Until you see him strolling through your front door, looking slightly better rested and no less fired up.
“You ready to go, MC?”
“That depends on where you think we’re going.”
“Just up to the palace. I’m sure the shop won’t suffer too much if it’s closed a little early.”
You sigh and check the sun dial. You’ve had plenty of customers today, and it’s not too long from when you normally close. Besides, you need more details on what you’ve supposedly agreed to before it gets too far. “Give me ten minutes.”
When you make it out the door he’s already hailed a carriage for the two of you, holding out a gloved hand to help you in. You’re getting ready to ask your questions as soon as the coach lurches forward, but he’s beating you to it before you can open your mouth. “Now, if we can get Pasha to agree to this, it’ll make talking Nadia into it that much easier. They won’t mind the roles I’ve written for them once they get over the idea of acting for me.”
“And what story are we acting out?”
He startles and turns to you, one eye wide. “Did I forget to tell you? Ah – I must have been too caught up in the moment. We’re doing Cinderella. You’ll be Prince Charming, of course, Nadia will make an excellent King, and Pasha will be the evil stepmother. I thought of making her one of the mice, but you know how she loves to act out.”
“And the other roles?”
“You’ll ask Asra to be Cinderella. Then the two of you can convince that Muriel fellow to be the Queen. Don’t worry, I didn’t give him too many lines. And Lucio will be the Ugly Stepsister.”
“And you?”
“Well, I’m the director, the writer, the stage manager, and your Fairy Godmother, of course.” He leans across to you with a twinkle in his tired eye. “Any wishes you’d like me to grant, MC? The story doesn’t always have to end the same way.”
That last line catches your attention. “If you had to write it from scratch, how much of it did you change?”
He leans back with a shrug and a grimace. “Not much. I’ll work with you all to get a feel for the characters, but shows are always better with a few surprises. We’ll probably be improvising a good portion of it.”
The whole endeavor seems dubious at best, but you’ve just pictured Portia basing her Evil Stepmother off of one of Vesuvia’s more self-important courtiers, and now you’re mildly invested. “I’ll talk to whoever you want me to talk to, but the magic I practice is elemental. I can’t make any promises.”
“Of course not, you know I’d never expect anything ridiculous of you. Ah – here we are. Allow me, your majesty.” He trips out of the carriage and turns with a deep bow, offering you his arm once again to dismount. “Shall we?”

I finally watched Disneys Wish (2024) since it came out on Disney+ and I have a thought… or two.
Disney’s Wish (2024)
Thoughts and critiques
⚠️spoilers below the cut!!⚠️
So on my initial watch I actually kinda enjoyed it. Now HEAR ME OUT I CAN EXPLAIN-
I kind of enjoyed the songs (mostly because I didn’t really listen to the lyrics) and the movie and characters weren’t even that bad.
But after I thought about it some more and watched the behind the scenes videos I realized a couple things:
WE WERE ROBBED A STAR BOY LOVE INTEREST?!?
There are a couple things that weren’t even explained
Is Asha canonically the OG fairy godmother?
I still don’t know why Magnifico wanted the wishes all to himself
WE WERE ROBBED OF A VILLAIN COUPLE!!
My biggest gripe with the movie is how much potential it had, but it just fell short.
For this movie being Disneys big 100th anniversary project, it feels half baked. It felt unfinished, like I was watched the rough draft; the version that they show to a test audience to see what they needed to change and fix.
The people that worked on it kept saying that it was supposed to reflect the OG Disney that people know and love. If I’m being honest, they kind of missed the mark on it. As a movie in general it wasn’t terrible, but there were some things that were just missing.
Magnifico
Magnifico as a “classic Disney Villain” just didn’t make sense to me. He really has no clear reason for keeping the wishes all to himself. I know most of the classic villains were just kinda evil to be evil, but there was still a reason for them to be evil. (For example Malificent was salty about not being invited to the ball [kinda extra but whatever] the Evil queen wanted to be the fairest of them all,the witch doctor from Princes and the Frog wanted money, etc etc, you get the idea). The one thing they did though was making him and unredeemable villain. Bro was rotten to the core and had me hating him by the end of the movie, no matter how fine he is(one of the most handsome villains lemme just SAY)
And don’t even get me STARTED on his villain song. It felt too much like a lead up to his actual villain song. If there was a reprise or something like that later in the movie I could have accepted that. Theo whole thing just felt too upbeat and almost childish to me. They were cooking a little bit in the middle but they lost it again.
Star
I SIMPLY WILL NOT LET GO OF THE FACT THAT WE AS A COMMUNITY WERE ROBBED!! There was so much potential for this Peter Pan type character and possible love interest?? And it’s not even because I’m a romance buff, but most female leads in Disney classics have a love interest, and if I’m to believe that this is reminiscent of said classics, we need a love interest. (Also can we just collectively agree that Star Boy would be added the Tubler sexy man list with expediency? Yes? Ok.)
The Queen
I don’t have much to nitpick about the queen but WE COULD HAVE HAD A VILLIN DUO! There was so much potential for some BANGER villain duets. And sure the classics didn’t really have villain couples per se, but they had plenty of villain groups, so it still would have made sense.
The references
I expected a lot more references and Easter eggs from other Disney movies, but I was struggling. I was looking the whole time and all I found were some hidden Mickey’s and a few throw aways lines alluding to characters and other movies. This is Disney’s big 100th anniversary! It should be full of references from all 100 years of movies! Maybe that’s just me but those references weren’t cutting it for me.
The Fandom
The Wish fandom is actually thriving more than I thought. We made a whole fandom out of nothinggg! Fan art, edits, fanfics, animatics, whole entire songs!! You name it, we have it. Honestly we should have just made the movie ourselves.
Again I say as a base movie it wasn’t that bad. There were some witty lines I liked, the friend group was cool (prob some of my fave characters tbh). The talking goat was THE funniest character(argue with the wall) and the Star is very plushy-able and I WILL be buying it when the murch drops thank YOU. Plus the storyline made sense with it being about making your dreams come true and such, perfectly falling in line with the whole Disney brand.
There were plenty of good things about it but it just wasn’t enough to call it a good anniversary movie. I finished the movie feeling horribly underwhelmed. It just felt like another Disney movie. I expected a lot more.
I mostly likely will be watching it again just to see if I find more, and who knows maybe it will be better the second time around.
Also make sure to leave a comment so I can see if I’m alone thinking that this movie wasn’t entirely a mistake haha…
