the way I hc pretty much all of these for him too (same wavelength fr) but I wanna add a few of mine :3

He’s nonbinary (or otherwise unlabeled gender) pretty much just out of sheer laziness. Like he’s fine with being called a man and using he/him, but honestly he doesn’t care what terms or pronouns someone uses for him — gender is too much work and he already has a lot going on.

There’s no way he isn’t an ugly crier. I’m talking the full toddler cry with a red face and puffy eyes and weird little squawks

I flip-flop between which other languages but he’s a polyglot!! Right now it’s I’m thinking French, German, Italian, Latin, and some Mandarin

Buddy Headcannons!

(Kinda long)

• Buddy hates water being thrown onto him with force. He canonically hates getting wet but I HC that he specifically hate things like: showers, water guns, water balloons, rough beach waves (waves in general actually), rain, etc. I like to imagine that the waves in The Beach Boys arc were calm enough to not irritate him. But also him playing with Chase distracted him from the uncomfortable sensory feeling.

•Buddy loves to play fight Chase. Like really chasing him and wrestling him but obviously not in a way that they could get hurt. (Got this one from Beach boys lolz)

•Buddy sucks at cooking. Even if he used a toaster, he would somehow still burn his toast.

•Violet is like a mother figure to Buddy. (I know it’s confirmed that they have a sibling relationship but imagine Violet teaching Buddy about being key and guiding him about how to get around with his small size and comforting him ajdhakakaj)

•Buddy has wrinkles under his eyes but it’s covered with light makeup. The wrinkles are slightly visible in his key form.

•Buddy also wears heels and tend to walk on his toes. Btw, he isn’t walking on his toes because he wears heels a lot, he wears heels because he walks on his toes a lot.

•If Buddy ever met Myra (Chase’s mom) he would immediately get attached to her. (motherly affection has a tight grip on Buddy)

•Buddy wears black nail polish!

•Buddy hates spontaneous activities because he relies a lot on a consistent routine for his confidence. He likes to be prepared (mentally and physically) so he would also like to be told of an activity in advance. I feel like this is why he rehearses his lines in books and stutters whenever Chase does something unexpected.

•Because Buddy is made of metal in real life. When he goes into a books, he a noticeable colder than an actually human and because of this he’s attracted to Chase’s warmth. This brings me to another headcannon which is…

•Buddy would love to sleep on top of Chase! Like, he would bury his head into his chest (or closer to his head so he feel Chase’s hair) and let himself melt into him.

•Buddy is an unlabeled queer. He wouldn’t specify his type or preferred gender but he knows for sure he ain’t straight.

•Buddy has a roman nose. OR ANY KIND OF LARGER NOSE!!! I KNOW IT AINT CANNON BUT IDC!!!!!!!

In another universe, "Cinderella Boy" is called "Princess Charming," Chase is a beautiful soft masc lesbian and Nox is an ethereal gothic fem presenting girl and at the s1 finale she says "I'd like to be your heroine. Just this once" because in this version, Chase (who I'll be calling Charli) is the hero key holder and is expected to get with the storybook heroines and Nox (who I'll rename Nyx) is the villain key holder and constantly watches her from afar. Like, everything is the same but switched genders of everything. And idk, I just get giddy thinking about it

I wonder a lot if his eyes were also light blue as a human, and his key eyes reflect that, or if he had a different eye color. But I think the brown suits him!! They somehow make him look even paler, though, which I didn’t even think was possible,,
