I've been thinking about Ultraman stuff again and while going through my blog, I was surprised to find I somehow didn't post Mother Barossa?
To make a long story short, I headcanon that Barossas live under matriarchies. Female Barossas are much taller and muscular than their male counterparts, as well much rarer- with the odds being less than one per brood.
Female Barossas, mothers especially, essentially act as pirate captains to their broods. Daughters act as either stand-ins or second-in commands, and are expected to leave the brood and found their own family by a certain age.
#my art#barossa#alien barossa#it's entirely possible i already posted this and just couldn't find it#oh well#mama is here#ultraman#headcanon

Hen-Pecked
This wine will take the paint off your car. Seriously some rambunctious stuff. Green and virile in the nose, intense vegetal and spiny fruit clamoring for attention in a purple-blue body, the eucalyptus and dearthy grasp allowing only sentiments of berry and cherry to glimmer through. A funky swill masquerades across the bouquet, everything hinging on chubby, dripping roots and Caltrans-mowing…

Barossa Valley
Yesterday we left Largs and headed to Port Adelaide but after a quick look around the historic maritime buildings and seeing the lighthouse we headed north towards our next destination. ON our way we came across the Whispering Wall dam, which was actually pretty impressive being the original highest dam in Australia and the curvature of it means you can whisper and hear the sounds on the far side of the 140m wall.
We then decided to do some wine tasting having found ourselves in the Barossa Valley itself. We actually started at the place where the Barossa was first named and where the first vineyard was formed. The name Barossa was given by Col William Light who called the valley he looked at after a battle in which the British defeated Napoleon. the first vineyard was set up and called Barossa Vineyard, unsurprisingly, but it was really lucky it was the first one we came across. It was closed so we pressed on and stopped at Pindara where we sampled a few wines and I bought a bottle of the pink fizz. We then went to Sieber vineyard but couldn't raise anyone there so pressed on to Hentley wines where we both had a lovely glass of wine and a chat to two Aussies cycling around the area on electric bikes. They advised us of a few to try in the area and also told us about Maggie Beers farm shop and cafe. Maggie is an Aussie chef and food producer and we have actually seen her on TV today.
We followed the advice given and headed to Maggie Beer's where we shared a cheese and meat platter sitting overlooking the lake which was lovely. We then started to head to Birdwood and our accommodation but called into Chateau Tanunda as I like the chateau and wanted to show Andy the cricket ground there. Then it was onto Birdwood and our fabulous accommodation complete with spa bath - heaven and very relaxing!
Today we decided to leave the wine tasting and headed to Hahndorf, supposedly a Bavarian town in the Adelaide Hills but really it was well hyped. It was pretty but having recently been to Bavaria I really could get excited about a beer keller and a cuckoo clock shop! Still it was a nice day out and some lovely driving through the hills. Tomorrow we intend going back to the Barossa Valley to try a few more vineyards.
