I saw your post about the Sandman season 2 casting and I hope it's ok to ask what your dream cast for the Endless siblings would be? (also any other characters in the show! I know there will be a lot of new faces this season)
oh this is a delightful ask - i have a whole "alt face cast" tag that currently largely serves a human Matthew (Assad Zaman) but i love thinking through casting as someone who literally wrote a dissertation on diverse/colorblind/nontraditional casting in theater. that's definitely influencing a lot of my choices here - i tried to go with West End actors where possible, but i didn't limit myself to the UK. i also, uh. just picked all nonwhite actors because why not!
Destiny: to be clear i do like Adrian Lester as a choice! i feel like Chiwetel Ejiofor has similar gravitas as an actor, but i'd like to see Giles Terera in the role (he played Burr on Hamilton West End, and i think that shows an ability to balance Destiny's solemnness with dry, understated humor). Lemuel Knights would also be fun to watch take on the oldest Endless sibling.
Death: Kirby is obviously !!! we love Kirby. Vidya Makan feels like she has a similar older sister / responsible-but-kind vibe. Olivia Washington (currently starring in the West End's production of "Slave Play") would absolutely be able to portray Death on the other side of having hated her function (i'd LOVE to see a subtle take on Death as someone who has clawed back a sense of personal fulfillment in work that really takes a toll on her).
Dream: remember how Riz Ahmed voiced the Corinthian in the Audible Sandman? remember Riz Ahmed doing all those Shakespeare monologues? yeah.
Desire: Alex Newell! they won a Tony for best actor in a musical and they were one of the first nonbinary actors to be nominated for the award! (they're an excellent singer and also...i think it would be special to have a fat person play Desire.)
Despair: Kaguya. Minami Gessel. Patricia Fa'asua.
Destruction: okay so my ideal would be Toshiro Mifune. i understand that's impossible because Mifune is no longer alive. in which case...Rahul Kohli, or Beulah Koale (these are two entirely different approaches to Destruction - Kohli i could see as the sort of secretive, quiet man who's close to his sister Despair, while Koale i could see as the person who gets into painting after ditching his function and who likes talking to Barnabas).
Delirium: i had a silly but persistent hope that we'd get Bailey Bass as Del. (that scene in the 2022 iwtv where she's talking about her new life as a vampire gives the kind of unhinged/dangerous/sad vibes i get from Delirium as someone who used to be Delight and is now...fragmented.) alternative (but equally good) choices included Stephanie Hsu, Ruibo Qian, Priya Kansara, and (after seeing dead boy detectives) Yuyu Kitamura.
#inboxing#ask box#rriavian#thank you!#i really liked this ask - it was fun to narrow down choices and try to cast to character type#also i WILL say that ernest kingsley jr nailed the morpheus voice so hard i thought they'd dubbed him over with sturridge#during my first viewing of s1. like. INSANE that he has The Voice.#so we could also just give the role to him#sandman#alt face cast#or like#alt face casting#this got long so i'm not delving into the other possible cast choices#but also i DO love vanesu as rose. and vivienne as lucienne.#i'm so grateful we got the librarian as this prim elf-eared woman and not a tall gnome man

Hey, do you want to hear about my OCs? They are the main characters of the crime fiction series I`m writing.
This is Karisa Barnabas Bailey. He is more than twice my age, but he is my baby no. 1. He was born in 1977 in Takaungu, Kenya. He works as a private investigator, lawyer, private ballet teacher and a babysitter. (Yes, he`s a busy dude!) He also studied psychology for three years. His hobbies are ballet, dancing in general, running, cooking, baking and listening to music. He is queer and possibly neurodivergent. Favourite things he says in a book I`m currently writing: "John overreacted. I only passed out on the stairs once."
This is Norman Cole, aka my baby no. 2. He was born in 1985, Leipzig in Germany. He is a police officer, but he won`t be anymore in the next stories. His hobbies are writing poetry and short stories, martial arts, playing guitar, singing, watching crime TV shows, reading and yoga. He is currently married to his wife, Amalthea. He is bisexual. Favourite things he says in a book I`m currently writing: “You saw God tampering with your drink?”
I have so many OCs. I could probably write a twenty pages about them.
ooh these are such interesting characters! very well done, i especially like karisa!

not as strong as the other entries in this series, but some of these songs still pack a punch.
there’s more of a melodic edge here. I blame Andy Brock (in a good way)

Male English Names and Meanings
A correctly chosen name has a strong positive effect on the character and fate of a person. It actively helps to develop, forms positive qualities of style and condition, strengthens health, removes various harmful programs of the memory. But how to choose the perfect name?
The meaning of the name has no real effect. For example, the meaning of Agshin is brave, strong. It does not mean that the young man will be strong, and those who have other names will be weak. The name can block his heart centre, and he will not be able to give and receive love. On contrast, another boy will help solve problems of love or power and achievement of goals. The third boy may not affect. Moreover, all these children can be born on the same day. And have the same astrological, numerological, and other characteristics.
The mystery of a man's name is shared by a unique smell primarily in a person, and not in the grammatical meaning and characterisation of the name. If this name destroys the child, then it would not be beautiful, sweet with the surname. It would still be harm, destruction of character, a complication of life, and aggravation of fate.

Rosethorn - WIP Outline
The premise:
Howard Rosethorn is sent on a holy mission to save King Samuel Horne of Stoneguard from imminent death – he thinks. Or the Creys’ dragon will destroy the world and the end of days will come… or something. He’s not too sure, since the holy flying cat flew into his face and kind of interrupted the rundown on the quest…
Accompanying him to Adem on his dubious quest are Archie, a carpenter who took Howie in age twelve as his apprentice, Ronald Horne, second son of the missing king, and Keith, who runs a brothel. Just about.
TLDR: moronic white people getting into moronic white people situations. As written by a moronic white person
The series in general is called the Raining Thorns Series until I can find a name for it that I actually like. I’m planning it to be a seven-book epic fantasy series and so far I am currently in the first draft stages of book 4.
Character List & Associated Face Claims (in no particular order)
(putting a drop down thing on here, cause it’s hella long)
(also only sticking with the main guys. And yeah, it’s still hella long even then, sue me, I love me a huge ensemble cast)
Howard (Howie) Rosethorn - Russell Howard as he was in around 2008.
(But more what you would call “traditionally handsome” for ReasonsTM, Reasons being Spoilers.)
Seth Crey - Paul Bettany
Adrienne Hart - Sophie Turner
Archie Hart - Simon Pegg
Ronald Horne - Daniel Radcliffe
Keith Large - Bill Bailey
Cienne Fleurelle - Erin Richards
Stanley Carrot - Roman Kemp
Lilly-Anna Crey - Kerry Howard
Silas Beult - Marc Warren
Jimmy de Vil - JImmy Carr
Sadie ‘Russell’ Marbrand - a mental cross between Jeremy Irons and Hugh Laurie cause you try picking between two stellar actors on which to base the face of a badass character on
Elliot Maynard - Nick Frost (with the beard, because hell yes)
The Queen of the Forest (name currently withheld due to Reasons TM) - Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine fame)
Vladimir Horne - Nicholas Hoult
King Theo Crey - Brian Blessed
Queen Eleanor Crey nee Gertrude - Miranda Richardson
King Samuel Horne - Mark Addy
Queen Aaliyaa Horne - Kate Magowan
Some Musical Inspiration for your aural perusal
The Holy Trinity in terms of musical inspiration for Rosethorn (there are others, but these three helped me form the main bulk of the storyline inspiration)
1. Florence + the Machine
Key songs: Seven Devils, Drumming Song, Howl, Rabbit Heart, the entire contents of her first three albums basically
2. Nightwish
AND ALL ASSOCIATED MEMBERS, PAST AND PRESENT, MOST NOTABLY FLOOR JANSEN (ABOVE) WITHOUT WHOM ADRIENNE WOULD HAVE MUCH LESS AGENCY FROM BOOK 3 ONWARDS, AND TARJA TURUNEN (FORMER LEAD VOCALIST) WHOSE SONGS DID THE SAME FOR CIENNE
Key songs: Ghost Love Score, The Greatest Show on Earth, Wish I Had An Angel, Master Passion Greed, Dead Boy’s Poem, The Poet and the Pendulum, I could go on, their entire discography is gold.
Key songs from other members: Here’s My Hell by Revamp, Floor Jansen’s previous band, Tides by Tarot, Marco Hietala’s previous band, Anteroom of Death by Tarja, the former lead vocalist of Nightwish, Call of the Wild by Tarja, I Rule by Tarot, I could go on, these guys are so amazing, I would absolutely recommend a trip down a rabbithole of these European metal giants
3. Cradle of Filth
Key songs: Her Ghost in the Fog, An Enemy Led the Tempest, Darkness Incarnate, Swansong for a Raven, The Twisted Nails of Faith, Bathory Aria, Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder, Nemesis
Other bands that have influenced me and are still influencing me in terms of character motivations and story ideas:
Arch Enemy
Children of Bodom
Merrigan (she’s this adorable harpist on YouTube and Bandcamp who writes traditional Celtic music, she’s super cute, she also has two great albums to download on Bandcamp as well)
Andrew Barnabas and Paul Arnold, who wrote the soundtrack to the MediEvil game franchise on PlayStation 1 and 4
Within Temptation
Auri (side project of Tuomas Holopainen, songwriter of Nightwish)
Epica
Muse (there’s a couple songs from the greatest hits album that are in my 15hr Rosethorn playlist on my phone)
Tristania
If you read that entire word vomit, I salute you! Also I thank you dearly for taking the time to digest all my lists :D
I would love to do a tag list for Rosethorn miscellaneous and snippets, so if anyone is interested in joining the tag list, shoot me a line!
Thanks again for reading :)

The Turn of the Screw is an 1898 American novella by Henry James that first appeared in serial format in Collier's Weekly magazine (January 27 – April 16, 1898). In October 1898 it appeared in The Two Magics, a book published by Macmillan in New York City and Heinemann in London. Classified as both gothic fiction and a ghost story, the novella focuses on a governess caring for two children at a remote estate who becomes convinced that the grounds are haunted.
In the century following its publication, The Turn of the Screw became a cornerstone text of academics who subscribe to New Criticism. The novella has had differing interpretations, often mutually exclusive. Many critics have tried to determine the exact nature of the evil hinted at by the story. However, others have argued that the brilliance of the novella results from its ability to create an intimate sense of confusion and suspense within the reader.
The Turn of the Screw has been the subject of numerous adaptations and reworkings in a variety of media, and these reworkings and adaptations have, themselves, been analysed in the academic literature on Henry James and neo-Victorian culture. It was adapted to an opera by Benjamin Britten, which premiered in 1954, and the opera has been filmed on numerous occasions. The novella was adapted as a ballet score (1980) by Luigi Zaninelli, and separately as a ballet (1999) by Will Tucket for the Royal Ballet. Harold Pinter directed The Innocents (1950), a Broadway play which was an adaptation of The Turn of the Screw, and a subsequent eponymous stage play, adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz was presented in a co-production with Hammer at the Almeida Theatre, London, in January 2013.
There have been numerous film adaptations of the novel. The critically acclaimed The Innocents (1961), directed by Jack Clayton, and Michael Winner's prequel The Nightcomers (1972) are two particularly notable examples. Other feature film adaptations include Rusty Lemorande's 1992 eponymous adaptation (set in the 1960s); Eloy de la Iglesia's Spanish-language Otra vuelta de tuerca (The Turn of the Screw, 1985); Presence of Mind (1999), directed by Atoni Aloy; In a Dark Place (2006), directed by Donato Rotunno and Walter Lima Jr.'s Brazilian-Portuguese-language Através da Sombra (Through the Shadow, 2016). The Others (2001) is not an adaptation but has some themes in common with James's novella. In February of 2018, Steven Spielberg began filming an adaptation of the novella called The Turning on the Kilruddery Estate in Ireland.
Television films have included a 1959 American adaptation as part of Ford Startime directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Ingrid Bergman; the West German Die sündigen Engel (The Sinful Angel, 1962), a 1974 adaptation directed by Dan Curtis, adapted by William F. Nolan; a French adaptation entitled Le Tour d'écrou (The Turn of the Screw, 1974); a Mexican miniseries entitled Otra vuelta de tuerca (The Turn of the Screw, 1981); a 1982 adaptation directed by Petr Weigl primarily starring Czech actors lip-synching; a 1990 adaptation directed by Graeme Clifford; The Haunting of Helen Walker (1995), directed by Tom McLoughlin; a 1999 adaptation directed by Ben Bolt; a low-budget 2003 version written and directed by Nick Millard; the Italian-language Il mistero del lago (The Mystery of the Lake, 2009); and a 2009 BBC film adapted by Sandy Welch, starring Michelle Dockery and Sue Johnston.
Literary reworkings of The Turn of the Screw identified by James scholar Adeline R. Tintner include The Secret Garden (1911), by Frances Hodgson Burnett; "Poor Girl" (1951), by Elizabeth Taylor; The Peacock Spring (1975), by Rumer Godden; Ghost Story (1975) by Peter Straub; "The Accursed Inhabitants of House Bly" (1994) by Joyce Carol Oates; and Miles and Flora (1997)—a sequel—by Hilary Bailey. Further literary adaptations identified by other authors include Affinity (1999), by Sarah Waters; A Jealous Ghost (2005), by A. N. Wilson; and Florence & Giles (2010), by John Harding. Young adult novels inspired by The Turn of the Screw include The Turning (2012) by Francine Prose and Tighter (2011) by Adele Griffin.
The Turn of the Screw has also influenced television. In December 1968, the ABC daytime drama Dark Shadows featured a storyline based on The Turn of the Screw. In the story, the ghosts of Quentin Collins and Beth Chavez haunted the west wing of Collinwood, possessing the two children living in the mansion. The story led to a year-long story in the year 1897, as Barnabas Collins travelled back in time to prevent Quentin's death and stop the possession. In early episodes of Star Trek: Voyager ("Cathexis", "Learning Curve" and "Persistence of Vision"), Captain Kathryn Janeway is seen on the holodeck acting out scenes from a holonovel which appears to be based on The Turn of the Screw.

12th Annual Connecting Faith & Business Summit
12th Annual Connecting Faith & Business Summit
Attracts Nationally Recognized Speakers and UnSung Heroes in Business & Service
Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Riverside, CA – September 10, 2019 -- The 12th Annual Connecting Faith & Business Summit will bring business and faith based leaders together from the Tri-County region of San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange Counties, on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Riverside Convention Center. The program will kick off with Registration, Lunch and Networking, and Meet the Vendors at Noon, followed by rotations with business experts in an array of disciplines volunteering their time to help both businesses and non-profits scale with the right resources and partners. Concurrent with the expert rotations, business owners seeking financing will be able to go to a newly featured Green Room for a Lender Match. Community Banks, Regional Banks, National Banks and Non-Profit Lenders will be available to meet with prepared business owners and non-profits on the financing programs available to assist a business or non-profit with working capital, lines of credit, commercial real estate and equipment financing, and related business financing needs. Lenders invited to participate include Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Union Bank, BBVA Compass, Citizens Business Bank, Comerica Bank, Pacific Premier Bank, Cathay Bank and CIT Bank. Following the expert rotations, a dynamic program has been planned to inspire, to equip and to educate participants. The theme of this year’s conference is Family Businesses Connecting Faith & Business. Dr. Keanon Alderson, Professor at California Baptist University, Riverside and family business expert will moderate the afternoon program slated to kick off at 3:00 p.m. A panel of family business owners will feature an engineering company founded by the father and passed down to his son; a second generation franchise operation that is now run by the children; and a car parts distributor run by a husband and wife. Jeff Abbot from Convene, a faith based business coach group and Chair of the local IE Barnabas Chapter, will moderate the panel. Two leading professionals in their field will provide business tips for participants, including Marcus Piquet, RPB, CPAs, will discuss ESOPS – an option for family businesses to exit and elevate their employees; and Vikita Poindexter, Poindexter Consulting, an expert witness for HR issues and human resource consultant will discuss what employers should look out for with Dynamex and other new state personnel laws. The highlight of the afternoon will be the inspiring business journeys of the 2019 Connecting Faith & Business Award winners who have been selected in the following categories – Character Award, Faith through Works and the Development Award. The program will also recognize two incredible Civic leaders who are known for their faith in how they govern as Mayors of local cities – Mayor Acquanetta Warren, City of Fontana and Mayor Rusty Bailey, City of Riverside. The program and networking will conclude by 6pm. We urge that the conference does not stop on Thursday. On Sunday, October 13th, we have designated that day as Business Sunday. We are encouraging churches and faith based leaders to take time to pray for business leaders within their congregations or houses of worship. We have shared ideas on other steps faith based groups can take on Business Sunday by hosting a meet and greet; or planning coffee with business owners, or something meaningful that says to business leaders, we recognize your sacrifice and the difference you are making in communities and families as job makers. If churches need ideas for Business Sunday, visit www.connectingfaithandbusiness.com. The Connecting Faith & Business Summit started in 2007 when AmPac Tri-State CDC launched its operation as the nation’s only faith based Certified Development Company (CDC or 504 Lender) in the country, determined to lead the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in connecting faith and business. The goals: to intentionally market to business owners who had a personal or business tie to the faith based community. After consultation with its Pastor’s Advisory Committee and a visit with the SBA’s District Director from Orange County, Adalberto Quijada, it was settled. We would establish a conference to bring business and faith based leaders together for education, inspiration and meaningful connections. AmPac was determined to do it right here in the Inland Empire. AmPac often reflects on the very first Summit where about 75 participants attended. The first keynote speaker was a well- known business leader in Riverside and throughout the State, as well as a decorated war veteran, Mr. Robert Wolf. Mr. Wolf re-counted a time in war when one of his colleagues in battle was saved from an enemy attack when a stray bullet to his head hit his head gear but it did not hit him because his Bible was under his helmet. He quipped in his speech to the audience of business and faith based leaders, “If you have ever had to make payroll, you are a person of faith.” The conference has grown significantly over the past 11 years, with the same firm commitment to allow business leaders and faith based leaders to come together to learn best practices and new tools; to meet resource partners, and establish meaningful connections around their faith. The conferences have been known to draw tears and stories of victory overcoming obstacles that can only be explained by miracles of faith. The goal is for participants to leave the conference with “right now” implementation strategies to scale and to thrive, and to be propelled by their faith to know that nothing is impossible with God. The initial partnership with the SBA for the first conference extended to the SBA partners, including the IE Small Business Development Center, the IE Women’s Business Center, SCORE Chapters and an array of banking partners and non-profit partnerships committed to connecting faith and business including Thrivent Financial and KSGN, Family Friendly 89.7FM. These partnerships continue today and new sponsors have joined this effort, including Wells Fargo Bank, Citizens Business Bank, US Bank, Union Bank, Cathay Bank, BBVA Compass, Comerica Bank, KKLA 99.5 FM, Entrepreneur’s Insurance and a host of other friends and partners. Learn more about the conference by visiting www.connectingfaithandbusiness.com or go to www.ampac.com to register today. All Pastors and faith based leaders are provided complimentary admission to the conference and may contact AmPac directly to register at 909-915-1706. Read the full article

↳ BIOGRAPHY:
Incarceration tw.
John Dawlish was born to Squibs in Ireland. Both their parents were con artists and used John to trick innocent people. A scrawny child was an easy way to earn sympathy, especially when John pretended to be struck by some incurable illness. On the eve of their eighth birthday, their parents were arrested for real estate fraud. John was forced to move in with their conservative grandparents. Those years were the most stable of their life, but it was a rough adjustment. In their household, rules were absolute, not just things to be broken. However, they were loving. They accepted them when they changed their pronouns and presented as genderqueer. They also respected John cut out their parents from their life. It was a surprise when John received their letter from Hogwarts, especially since neither of their parents had inherited any abilities. At school, John was sorted into Ravenclaw. Somehow, the past seven years has made them a stickler for the rules making them the most annoying prefect in Hogwarts. Their biggest fear is someone finding out about their less than ideal childhood.

This is my opinion of how I felt after my father was kicked out and my feelings after he died (not a slight just a way to vent because I don’t really express myself.)
In 2015 after a very tumultuous life, James Hughes died at the age of 53. He was a father, a husband, a provider, and very helpful. Now he wasn’t the worst person in the world. however, we learned in 2011, that he was a lying manipulating, money embezzling mad genius who after months of fighting against it, ended up getting us evicted from our home. we moved into my grandmother’s house and he told us a made-up story about money his brother had gotten from refinancing his house. And one lie after another came through: the banker who was taking care of our $60,000 check had an incident (because she lived in jersey where there was flooding) where a wall of her house fall on her; or her getting stuck in traffic because of a bad accident on the Gowanus Expressway or the fact that Homeland security put a stop on the check because it was an inordinate amount of money; or when he said that my uncle Jeff(my uncle’s husband) had a heart attack and had to have a stint put in, or when it came towards the end of his lie how his brother had to get the check to his sister who was on her way from new jersey on Easter Sunday and they got in a bad car accident. And then the worst part about the whole problem when he was “speaking to the banker” was that the banker, was out because her husband had just died that same morning when my mom felt everything was a lie. My dad was arrested and sent to jail overnight, released, he then was moved to Bailey Seton hospital because he was mentally unstable.
From the time he was arrested, I knew that the dad I knew for 17 years, was gone. He was in a mental hospital for treatment of his issues. I only saw him once during his stay at St. Barnabas hospital. Then after being discharged, he was moved to ward’s island then to Flatbush before moving up to Middletown where we lived. It had been a hard year, 2011. But we made it through and he was moving close to where we lived. he had started taking Risperdal, which gave him tremors. He shook a lot. and We really do think something happened to him. His smile was crooked…he looked like he had suffered from a serious stroke that only really influenced his appearance.
On February 7, 2015, the day had gone on a bit weird. I was working. I had just got off work and was sitting down where the employees sit for break. Mary told me they were just going by to check on dad because she hadn’t heard from him since Wednesday. As soon as she had said that, my fear started to bubble. It was real. I get a call 5 minutes later, my sister in hysterics, “HE’S DEAD” “No.” “HE’S DEAD, TAKE A CAB,” and so I did, getting a few hugs from my coworkers. To be honest the memory is so vivid now. There’s an amazing episode of Jane the virgin from earlier this year where one of the main characters die. The narrator uses flashbulb memories as a storytelling method and it’s aesthetically beautiful and I cry every time I watch it. But I can recall that memory so well. I was blessed with the cab driver not charging a fare because I was going to the house of my dead father. It was all so amazingly sweet that I thanked him like 5 times. I was very grateful. The loss hurt me. and to have it happen twice was awful (once in 2011 and once in 2015.) Dad was a huge influence on my humor and how I write. he was a published poet, a great dad and a fun person to be around. I realized that night that even though dad left in 2011(kicked out) he was still a human being, albeit broken. He was an awesome person and I miss him and quote his daddy-isms because they were so iconic. He nicknamed everyone he knew, calling me “Shoe-Booty” based off an episode of “All in the family” because he loved to make all kinds of pop culture references. one thing he’d always say whenever I’d be sad, “Lighten Up Francis” which is a quote from the movie stripes. He was a great dad. He wouldn’t mess around too much and he was super funny. his quotes and isms still roam the house because they were iconic. even after the messed-up stuff he did. he was still dad.
I’m looking through old pictures and Facebook memories and I came across this poem. it’s a poem dad wrote that was published in the national Library of poetry anthology for 1989(Dark side of the moon) this poem is called One of Those Days
One of Those Days by James Hughes Got outta bed this morning…went rushin for the train
Forgot to take my overcoat and then it starts to rain!
Rush on to the platform trains a half an hour late…
Someone’s brat throws up on me, why don’t I feel so great?
I went to bed at 8 last night I hoped to get up early
Now my jobs in jeopardy the boss is mean and surly!
He spies me sneaking to my desk, grabs me by the collar
Calls me on the carpet and starts to scream and holler!
Where’s the work I asked you for, non-compis mentes fool!!
YOU’RE FINISHED HERE, YOU’RE FIRED, TRY GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!
“Every loss is unprecedented. You can’t ever know someone else’s hurt, not really – just like touching someone else’s body isn’t the same as having someone else’s body” -John Green This is my opinion of how I felt after my father was kicked out and my feelings after he died (not a slight just a way to vent because I don't really express myself.)
