Maura said, “That’s your card.”

On the card on the table was a black knight astride a white horse. The knight’s helmet was lifted so that it was obvious that his face was a bare skull dominated by eyeless sockets. The sun set beyond him, and below his horse’s hooves lay a corpse.

Outside the windows behind them, a breeze hissed audibly through the trees.

“Death.” Gansey read the bottom of the card. He didn’t sound surprised or alarmed. He just read the word like he would read eggs or Cincinnati.

“I thought that psychics didn’t predict death,” Adam said quietly. “I read that the Death card was only symbolic.”

Perler Bead Flight Flags

Made these flight flag coasters a bit back, figured it was a good time to post 'em! I do enjoy Perlers, they're like pixel art but at the end I can hold them and stuff.

Crafting details after the break, if y'all want to make your own.

These are using the original 2013 flag designs/colors on a 14x14 board, with standard 5mm beads. If you wanted to do the current flag designs, they'd need a little bit of tweaking as many are more symmetric in the current art (and also, I'd recommend a 16x16 size, since then you have room to put the current art's border). You could also try out an odd-sized flag, 15x15 maybe, but the angles at the bottom will look a little off. Doesn't hurt to try stuff though!

I got most of the beads for these out of variety packs and various kits, which don't necessarily label the colors in them, but these are my best guesses to what I used:

Earth: Tan design on Brown base

Fire: Butterscotch/Orange on Light Brown base

Wind: Dark Green on Kiwi Lime

Water: Light Blue on Dark Blue/Cobalt

Lightning: Toothpaste on Parrot Green

Ice: Turquoise on Robin's Egg

Light: Cheddar on Creme

Shadow: Pastel Lavender on Purple

Nature: Kiwi Lime on Dark green

Plague: Red on Cranapple

Arcane: Pink on Raspberry

(Most of these came from the Multi Mix packs or the Neutral Colors/Fun Colors trays, but Cranapple in particular was catankerous to get ahold of. Fitting for Plague, I suppose! Anyways, there's some wiggle room on hue for a lot of these, too, I was just using what I had onhand as much as possible)

As for what I would do differently if I made another set of these? Well... I've gotten a bit better at getting the melt level consistent, so there's that. Learned the hard way that trying to melt two designs on the same pegboard, even if said board is big, isn't a good idea (and it's near-impossible to fix). Also, I was using one of the freebie folded pieces of parchment paper, so some of the coasters have creases... On non-ironing notes, I think it would be fun to take a stab at a micro-bead variant, since they support a higher dpi and all!

Anyways, if you decide to make your own set, please uh... I'd say ping me, but I'm not actually sure how that works here? I think it'd be cool to see 'em, that's all. Happy crafting!

Prompt 29 - Flag

“I’m taking it,” Sirius declared as he looked up at the ceiling in the Great Hall while they were eating breakfast. 

“Where will you even put it?” Remus asked him. “We don’t even have anywhere to live yet, how do you know there’s even going to be anywhere big enough to hang it?” Remus tried to make him see sense, but Sirius was having none of it. Once he got something like that in his head, he wouldn’t stop until he’d achieved his goal. He spun around in his seat, trying to spot the right person. He waved a hand to flag down Lily Evans as she was about to pass them with Marlene and Mary. 

“Oi, Evans, will you give me a hand?”

“With what?” She paused beside him, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. 

“You’re the best in our year at charms and I need help getting one of those down,” He pointed his finger up at the huge house banners hanging above them. 

“Nope,” Lily spun away. 

“What, why?” Sirius whined. 

“I’m head girl, Black. I can’t just steal a banner right in front of the entire faculty and student body,” She rolled her eyes at him. “And don’t even think about helping him, Potter,” She glared at James. 

“Yes dear,” James grinned as he leant over and kissed her lightly on the lips. 

“Good boy,” She smiled back at him before she, Marlene and Mary headed for the exit. 

“Aww, no fair,” Sirius sulked, crossing his arms on the table and dropping his head onto them.  

“Sorry Pads,” James patted him on the head. “I’ve got to do what she says,” James shrugged. 

“Hey,” Remus leaned over and nudged him with his shoulder. “Lily said James couldn’t help you, but she didn’t say anything about me not helping you,” Sirius’s head shot up off the table. 

“You’d do that for me?” He gasped.

“Of course,” Remus chuckled, ruffling his hair.

“I bloody love you, Moony,” Sirius grabbed him and kissed him hard.

“Love you too,” Remus kissed him again quickly before pulling a Dr Filibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Firework from his bag. He dunked it in his pumpkin juice and launched it towards the Slytherin table, right at Snape. It went off with a deafening bang, shooting multicoloured jets of light into the air. The Great Hall was chaos as the sparks bounced around the entire room. The marauders cackled with glee when they saw the sooty mess Snape was in. They slipped out undetected with the rest of the rabble. But it wasn’t until they were safely back in the Gryffindor Common room that Remus pulled the hastily folded banner from under his robes. 

“Oh, Moony, I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you,” Sirius stared at him in awe.

“Just promise me you won’t hang it over our bed,” He laughed, knowing that Sirius had already had that idea without him saying a word. 

“Yeah, okay,” He conceded. 

“Or the toilet,” Remus arched a brow at him. 

“Remus, that’s so unfair,” But he accepted it nonetheless and decided it could hang from the ceiling in the living room. 

He took it upstairs and hid it safely in his trunk. He’d owl it to Monty later on, he’d hide it for him until school was over. He went back down to the Common room where his friends were now lounging on the squashy armchairs and sofas. He hopped into Remus’s lap and snuggled down. He couldn’t wait for school to be over so he could do this every day, all day, for the rest of their lives.
