Blue Angels time of year! 🤩 Getting really excited about JPM calendar ideas…I’m thinking of including more variations in art styles/mediums like gouache or watercolor, maybe doing a traditional sketch too (though perhaps that’s better as an extra print to include).

Hope you have recovered mango!
Thank you for thinking of me! I’m pretty much all good now, it’s just that little lingering stuff, slightly lower energy levels—I feel like covid always takes a minute to get over, but yeah feeling much better!

“Look, there’s a petting zoo!” says Fanboy, pointing to the barn tent up ahead.
“Oh fuck, no. Not unless you brought heavy-duty Claritin and Benadryl. I’ll die,” moans Harvard.
“There’s a blacksmithing demo in the tent next door,” sighs Yale. “I’ll take Sneezy and keep him safe from all the scary baby animals.”

ms mango!!! hope you're feeling better and have time to recover <333 sending all my love!
thank you so much friend!! 🥹💖 You’re so sweet! I’m not feeling better yet, but I did get my hands on a paxlovid prescription (yay!) so I’m hoping that turns things around for me.
And I got a plane drawing done too after finishing up my art for TG endless summer! Can’t say I particularly remember how I got any of that finished, but it happened haha 😅

hi i’m kinda new to tumblr and i’ve noticed that no matter what tags i use or what i post my art never gets any likes. is there some kind of secret to how all this works? because it’s really demotivating for me seeing that all the hours i spend in my drawings is worth nothing at the end of the day :/
This got lost in my ask box 😭😭 I’m so sorry you sent this in Feb and I’m only seeing it now, I have no idea how it got so buried!
Okay, in regards to your question, I hope things have improved since you asked! But I’ll do my best to offer what advice I can.
Tumblr used to operate quite differently and it’s definitely become harder to get in the right areas or find a way into fandom compared to what it used to be. Engagement has changed a lot. Even just ten years ago, you used to watch a weekly released tv show episode and then sprint to tumblr to post about it and see what everyone else was screaming about—that still happens here, but my god it is no where close to what it once was. Media gets released in large chunks nowadays (think anything that’s marketed as ‘bingeworthy’), so you’re more likely to have disjointed viewership who have seen the entirety of thing or haven’t even heard of the show at all. Not a great combo for community to get together and discuss/pour over the details. That’s me digressing a little so, feel free to take that context or leave it.
Honestly, I recommend finding a lovely discord server to join, maybe a few of them, specific to a fandom(s) you like—I see new F1 discords pop up all the time and you can find those invites here on tumblr. Discord seems to be where a lot of conversation takes place that used to be here. They usually have channels dedicated specifically for artists to share what they’ve made or what they’re working on and that’s where I’ve met incredibly sweet people that wanted to talk about my art (which includes them finding my tumblr and reblogging/following/liking). I wouldn’t have met and interacted with so many awesome TG folks if I hadn’t joined the Fightertown discord.
It’s not that all that time and effort you put into what you’ve made isn’t worth anything, it’s that engagement and connection is hard these days—finding those little pockets of space for fandom community can be tricky.
Joining fandom events is a great way to meet new people and share your art too!
I hope this helps! Socials these days can certainly feel like posting into a void, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from creating if it brings you joy. 💖
