The gag is Zoro and Shanks aren’t that different. Zoro is also completely reckless with his body less so now but I have no doubt that even now if he needed to cut off any part of his body to win, to save his crew he would do it without hesitation just like shanks.

And the thing is Mihawk would still fight him as long as Zoro can pick up a sword Mihawk would still fight him and relish in it.

Zoro loses an eye, Mihawk still trains him.

And Shanks…..Shanks loses his mind a little bit

Sekaiichi hatsukoi is so much fun bc the tyrannical boss who takes their job way too seriously and the new employee who doesn’t know a damn thing is such a relatable concept and you can plop the entire cast into whatever au you want and it would still work just as well

#sekaiichi hatsukoi #I spent my last shift trying to put the characters into a lab work au and it still worked #Ritsu as the son of a hospitals ceo who got a cushy day shift job in microbiology at his dads hospital fresh out of lab school #he loves it and he’s good at it but he overhears the nighshifters talking shit abt how good he has it and that he doesn’t have to work that #hard bc micro is slow-paced and honestly it’s usually the same species of bacteria so it isn’t that hard to identify the species #so he quits and gets a job at a rival hospital but he’s put into a 2nd shift blood bank position despite never having worked in it #takano is the lead tech who comes down hard on anyone who makes mistakes bc this is literal life or death #it’s not just streaking plates and doing fun little biochemistry tests then putting the sample into the crispr to verify #the most advanced technology they have in bb is the cell washer. convenient but not as helpful #his first few days there are just back to back massive transfusion protocols and he genuinely wants to crawl into a hole and die #things calm down after his first week but it’s a huge learning curve and no one has the patience or the time to properly train him #emerald can all be blood bank specialists. Yokozawa is the head of histology.#having trouble finding roles for everyone else #kirishima could be a pathologist and Yukina could be a receptionist at a medical office while he goes to phlebotomy school(?)#or nursing school. something like that

I think I would be in far worse straits mentally right now if I didn’t have a job that I really believe in. how wonderful to staff a resource table at parent-teacher conferences and be able to tell beleaguered parents it’s free. It’s free. Your child can have art and phys ed classes four days a week after school, snack included, for no charge. here is everything else i can offer you.

#I think the people who rehab or maintain historic locations are doing holy work.#I was privileged to catch one of the riviera owners talking about what it looked like back in the day vs. what it is now #the photographs they've put up and what (they can only guess) was there back in the day #I found where the guys rehabbing the wilson avenue theater cut through to the back offices - it was a bank before it was a theater #and there's a whole warren of vaults and breakrooms behind the front-facing bits #and even the curators at all saints' were talking about how the striking dark arts and crafts-style woodwork was brand new #a decision made in the 70s; before that it was just a worn-down church #(even dank haus - it looks like every 90s public school I ever attended and they're in the middle of a refurbishing right now.)#I kept thinking about how thankless a lot of this work is if you don't know how much time and money and attention goes into it.#all you know is that things look different; there's an elevator where there wasn't before and things are neater and cleaner.#except that takes so so many hands and a lot of money and time and someone somewhere caring intensely.#even just this weekend! someone has to arrange for t-shirts sign up volunteers; to train them and give them site-specific instructions.#somebody has to stand around and encourage you to sign up for the email list. and give some tours.#answer questions. talk about the architect and the refurbishment work. tell people where the bathrooms are.#anyway. it's a triumph. it is.#city of the big shoulders #wherever there is light

send help. it's supposed to be 91 degrees tomorrow. on my day off :(

#a sock speaks #work tag #food tag #it was high 80s today but I didn't even notice bc the air conditioner at restaurant job is punishingly high powered #I was wearing my long sleeved undershirt and leggings without any discomfort #but I have to run errands tomorrow and my car has no AC. the house also has no AC but is okayish at staying cool.#I wanted to make pizza today but didn't have time. might be too hot for pizza tomorrow :( but my ingredients are aging in the fridge #I finally got a paycheck but it's for the 2nd period I worked. I'm missing the first one and need to talk with the regional manager #and he's only in on Thursdays #also gotta request a day off to go to Portland with my cousin in 2 weeks #also gotta request off for orchestra which also starts in 2 weeks #also my aunt is trying to recruit me for a caregiving job and I'd have to take 3 weeks off to get trained #it'd be super easy to schedule both jobs once I'm trained but the training is a big time commitment #also restaurant job scheduled me for all graveyard shifts this week. if I can't adjust my sleep schedule I'll have to give a firm no on it #also gotta go to the bank to deposit my check and. uh. all of August's tips (terrifying)#also gotta call a vital records office in Maine about my mom's birth certificate bc we're trying to take her to Canada for her birthday #I don't think we have enough time but my sister wants to do it #also I want to finish knitting this sock that I started in June. I just have the toe left #also I finally confirmed the color and pattern for a baby blanket I'm preparing as a gift so I gotta get yarn #also I need to buy blackout curtains to fit my windows so I can sleep in the day if I work nights #also sometime this week my sister is cleaning the church. I want to go with her so I have an excuse to get ice cream from a shop nearby #also I need to clean my room and I should hang up the art prints & postcards I've been collecting for months #most of them are green to match my decor but some are just characters or scenes I like #oh! I also owe a postcard to a school friend #I had caffeine for the first time in several days and my brain is buzzing. there's so much I want to do and I have time to do it #and I'm excited about it!

fuckass rollercoaster of a day

#arrived at my hotel early to drop off bags but they said the room was ready so checked in!#then the bank im using overseas had a major power outage so after catching one train i couldnt get a connecting bus #until it started working again. so got the bus and got to the museum but it was later in the day so by the time i was done it was like #the second last bus back of the day. and it was 30 min late. which meant i missed the ideal connecting train and had to wait another 40 min #finally got back tho and had a bath and ordered room service for dinner 🙏 even my collection of blisters dont seem too bad in this light.#dreading being in london tmrw for an hour train changeover tho... it's meant to be 32 degrees lmfao. and also london. wish me luck 🫡#liz.txt
