since i mentioned it in the group, here are scans of nobuteru yuki's concept art book for the Escaflowne film, specifically the stuff that was cut from the scene between young folken and young hitomi at the beginning. (i'm just using the translate function for ease here.) even without the rest of the scene, it's the reason i introduced the film to my partner. it's a really stirring moment, really sets a melancholy tone before even knowing what unfolds... then it just becomes more and more painful hahaha. i love it.

While Shadow was pretty intrigued by most of the places he and Sonic had visited during the time that Gaia was broken, Mazuri was the most surprising. Thus, he decided to revisit it on his own, appearing there in a flash with the help of one of Tails' transporters.

It was just as sunny as the last time he'd been there - even more than before with Gaia being whole again - and some of the townsfolk even greeted him as he made his way out of the village and into the surrounding savanna.

In lieu of his air shoes, Shadow was wearing one of Sonic's old pairs from before he'd been roboticized, leaving him jogging about instead of skating. While he was slower, lighter shoes also made it easier to jump; something he took advantage of to leap from platform to platform to climb the massive tree. Once he reached the highest platform, he lingered there, looking out over the surrounding landscape as the wind tousled his dark quills, taking away any heat that had accumulated.
