The Grammy's - Part Two
Part 1 l Part 3
The GRAMMY’s.
The Grammy Awards are awards presented by the Recording Academy of the United States to recognise “outstanding” achievements in the music industry…if you believed what you read on Wikipedia and if you didn’t see the artists who had brought exceptional change to the music industry like Lana Del Ray, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and even Diana Ross.
BTS were included in that list of people who had changed the music industry, had made Billboard change their rules every time they brought out a new single or album, had streaming numbers no one else had and yet for all the Grammy nominations, performances and making an appearance, there was no Grammy.
Until they had received a notification from Bang-PD to their phones, though five of those messages had been delayed in getting to their recipients.
Grammy Nominations have come through - Grace has got 3.
7 Rings - Record of the Year
In My Head - Album of the Year
7 Rings - Best Pop Solo Performance.
Each had a different reaction to the news, which was understandable. At first, there was elation over the fact that at least one of them got a Grammy nod, second was amazement that she had scored three big major categories and then worry mixed in with disappointment. Why hadn’t they had the nomination? Whether solo or as a group, the Grammy’s had left a bitter taste in their mouths.
Namjoon, Yoongi and Seokjin knew Grace would flat-out refuse to perform or even go to the awards. They knew her back to front - her loyalty stood with the group and if they weren’t getting a nomination, then neither would she.
However, this was a defining moment in her career, their careers, their history and for the country.
And for those who knew what kind of start Grace had, this would be the perfect way to celebrate that career.
She started as an admin assistant, straight out of school and into employment with Big Hit Entertainment who then saw that she could do ballet dancing, and ballroom dancing, who could sing though that skill was untouched, spoke perfect English, could speak German as well and had all the charm of an idol.
Yet there was no place for her.
Everyone knew Bang PD wanted a hip-hop group and that’s what he started with in Namjoon, then Yoongi and Hobi. Grace was added as a backup for the ability to sing their ad-libs and rap alongside them without any problem. Then along came Seokjin & Jungkook, Taehyung and Jimin and suddenly they were an idol group.
A woman shouldn’t be doing hip-hop with a boy group and so she had signed a two album contract which had left her on tenterhooks as to whether all the skills she had gained while working with Bangtan Sonyeondan would now be worthless. But along came Skool Luv Affair and Dark & Wild and everything fell into place.
Now they couldn’t see the group without their eldest member, the only female, their noona. The woman who protected them in every sense of the word and who had always been there for their solo projects and careers. Her own started very late after their military careers had started so she had full reign of being the BTS representative.
If her upcoming tour was a testament to how well her solo career had taken off, then a Grammy nomination would just solidify that.
Updates were coming in every day and then it was the date of the Grammy Awards themselves. Jungkook, Jimin, Taehyung, Namjoon & Yoongi were given special permission for absence of leave for two days so Seokjin planned a private viewing party just for the boys, their close friends who knew Grace as well and some of their team.
Seokjin had been up till late preparing snacks and food as the Grammy’s would start at 10am their time. There was plenty of alcohol covering his kitchen counter and there was food everywhere when Hobi had arrived first.
“Hyung, have you been stress cooking again?”
Seokjin paused where he was putting out plates and cups, chilling the expensive alcohol that had been gifted to him by someone and making sure there was enough kimchi in the container. Multitasking at its finest.
“Maybe? I can’t help it. I’m nervous, more for Grace than anyone else.”
Hobi sighed, having had the same conversation with every other member of the team and Grace herself. She had massive reservations about attending and performing, believing it all to be a big farce so they could have big viewing numbers.
“I know, but noona will be fine. She’s a lot stronger than us and a loss at the Grammy’s won’t affect her like it did us. As she said, as long as her performance is killer, who cares.”
Nothing more could be said as the front door opened and the rest of his boys poured through, Jungkook first then the rest following with bags of more food and alcohol.
“How drunk are you all getting?” Hobi laughed, receiving hugs and pats on the back as he looked at the various sized bags that were being dumped in the kitchen.
“It would have been more but Yoongi-hyung stopped us,” Taehyung shrugged as he dropped his bag and then lifted his arm, flexing it to show off his muscles which caused Jimin to roll his eyes and push at him. “We’ve all got muscles. It hasn’t been that long since Hobi-hyung has seen us.”
“Are you feeling okay?” Yoongi and Namjoon asked Seokjin at the same time, causing the two to pause, look at each other then back at their hyung.
Jungkook, while looking every inch the military man he had become, had wrapped his arms around Seokjin and pushed his face into his back.
“Nervous,” Seokjin admitted while patting Jungkook’s hands. “I’m more nervous for her than about the whole thing. But I know she can handle it. It’s just a big thing.”
“For everyone,” Namjoon smiled slightly and reached over to give Seokjin’s shoulder a squeeze, causing the man to squawk at how strong that grip had become. “Ah, sorry hyung.”
“Come on, let’s get the TV sorted before everyone else comes. And start cracking the bottles open hyung, let the champagne breathe before we get started,” Yoongi grinned as he took control of the situation, shooing people to start doing jobs.
Even though it was early in the morning and most people had been up all night working, everyone was in bright spirits as the coffee churned. The living room was filled with about 20 people, some on the couch, some on the floor, some on chairs they had brought over. Jungkook had even stolen the spare mattress in the other room and had laid it out on the floor for some.
BTS, however, had taken control of the couch.
They barely listened to the people talking on the screen as they all settled down with their various glasses of drink though Seokjin, Hobi and Namjoon had stuck to iced coffee for now. They wanted to be sober enough to get to her performance before drinking any type of alcohol.
Their phones went off at the same time.
“Oh my god, look at her!”
Taehyung lifted his phone up and began showing it around to the others. Sejin had sent a picture of Grace between her parents, dressed in her Elie Saab dress and made up to the nines as her father stood in a suit to her left and her mother stood to her right in a gold dress. They all matched perfectly to what Grace was wearing.
Messages quickly flew out of good luck, hope it all goes well, kill the stage, etc. None were read by Grace but Sejin sent a thumbs up emoji back with a winky face.
There was silence in the room as they watched the red carpet, pointing out the various celebrities they knew of or had met. They had immediately spotted Liam McEwan, one of the reporters who they actually liked. And then they saw Bang PD step out of the car with Grace’s parents, a member of staff leading them past the red carpet and inside.
“Here we go,” Seokjin muttered as Namjoon’s hand squeezed his shoulder again, a bit more gently this time.
The noise from the crowd was instantaneous.
Hands reached forward for the remote control to turn down the volume a bit as screams were heard, many heads turned as the camera switched to Liam McEwan. “Everybody, Grace Chu from BTS has arrived! The queen is here.”
The boys held their breath until the camera caught up with where it was meant to be, showing Grace in front of the Grammy backdrop, cameras flashing in her eyes as she smiled for the photographers. The dress sparkled each time the camera flashed and then she was moved along, straight towards Liam.
“Seee! Told you she could do it,” Yoongi said as he raised his glass of whiskey, not at all a bit tipsy as Jungkook reached over and filled it up for him. When did he get started on that?
“She hasn’t even gotten inside yet hyung,” Jimin laughed, already opening another bottle of champagne as if Grace had already won her three awards and had been crowned Queen of Korea.
Seokjin and Namjoon as well as Hobi, the only three who had been determined not to drink until the end, slowly sipped on their iced coffee and laughed as they watched an excited maknae open Taehyung’s bottle of wine for him.
“But she’s won everyone over! I mean, that dress is amazing on her,” Taehyung said as he stood, pushing over Jimin who spilled himself into Hobi’s lap. Obviously, a career in the military had done nothing to dampen their enthusiasm.
Taehyung stood next to the large TV screen, pointing at various parts of her dress. “I mean, it’s pretty low. I wonder who signed that off but either way, she looks amazing. And look! Cleavage! No one has seen noona with cleavage yet.”
Yoongi groaned, covering his eyes. “Don’t mention Grace and cleavage in the same sentence. I’m not drunk enough yet.”
Seokjin hid a grin behind his hand and tried not to chuckle, ignoring Hobi who was cackling into his back and Namjoon who stood ready to defend his noona’s honour until he was pulled back down.
“What?” Taehyung asked, grinning. “Okay, okay. But this is history in the making here. She’s got everyone eating out of her hand already and she’s not even inside yet. Is that Taylor Swift she’s saying hello to? Oh, it's Nicki Minaj. Ah, another collab being set up there.”
“Tae,” Seokjin started and threw a napkin at him. “Sit down before your eyes turn into the same shape as the TV. You’re blocking the view as well.”
There were plenty of voices who agreed with him as Tae pouted and sat back down, ignoring the maknae line’s giggles.
The next time they saw Grace was sitting with her parents in the main room, taking a glass of water and gulping it down before Sejin and the Grammy team led her away.
“Oh this is it,” Jungkook whispered as he somehow managed to squeeze in next to Seokjin. If there were two people in the room who were close to Grace and could feel her nerves from here, it would be them.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to 5-time Grammy nominated member of BTS, Grace Chu,” the loud announcement came.
“Okay. This is it,” Namjoon said as he went into leader mode. “Everyone shut up and let’s enjoy it.” Nothing more needed to be said as everyone went into quiet mode, 20 sets of eyes on the TV that showed a black curtain being lifted as the opening to the Sound of Music’s ‘Favourite Things’ was being played by a small orchestra, dressed in black dinner suits and dresses.
Jungkook reached over and held onto Seokjin’s hand tight.
Each light in the middle came on to show her standing there, in her blazer dress that was very short but presentable and caused some uproar from the boys the moment they saw it but a quick look from Namjoon and they settled again.
Her eyes met the camera as it slowly zoomed in and she gave a small smile as she started to sing, four female dancers walking on stage to meet her dressed in white suits.
“My wrist, stop watchin’, my neck is flossy,” Grace and Jungkook sang at the same time, though he did it under his breath as he watched the choreography on the TV. By the time the chorus came, the four female dancers spread further apart to allow the seven male dancers to come alongside though they were dressed in matching black suits.
“Wearing a ring, but ain’t gon’ be no Mrs,” Grace sang as she flashed her left hand, wiggling slightly causing Jimin and Taehyung to giggle.
There were more outrage noises when it came to the second pre-chorus, the female dancers were back as the lyrics “my smile is beamin’, my skin is gleamin’” were sung but instead of Grace doing the usual choreography that the boys were used to, it had been changed for American tv.
All five women turned and leaned forward, resting heads on backsides as Grace shifted hands to turn her head towards the camera as she sang the rest of the lyrics, “the way it shine, I know you’ve seen it” as her hand went down the thigh of the dancer who she was resting on.
“I bought a crib just for the closet,” Grace sang as she rightened herself, not paying attention to the crowd’s delighted noises or what her parents were going to think. Right now, it was a cause of getting through this song to get to the rap part and then done.
All dancers were back for the chorus and Yoongi, Hobi and Namjoon shifted towards the edge of the seat. They had seen the many comments around this song and whether Grace could perform the rap part live, since it was so fat, not realising she covered their rap parts with ease when they needed her to.
“When you see them racks, they stacked up like my ass yeah,” she sang/rapped, turning her body a little to camera to show her hand grabbing a chunk of her backside to match the lyrics. She then fully turned to the camera, the dancers in formation on either side of her as she continued the verse.
“Shoot, go from the store to the booth. Make it all back in one loop, gimmie the loot,” she continued as she danced her way through the verse without stopping to take a breath.
In complete jubilation, every single person in Seokjin’s living room sang along with her.
“Nevermind I got the juice. Nothing but net when we shoot. Look at my neck, look at my jet!”
“Ain’t got enough money to pay me respect. Ain’t no budget when I’m on the set If I like it, then that’s what I get,” Grace continued from where they left off singing.
The dancers all left the stage as the orchestra took over the last chorus, letting the song play out once Grace stopped singing. The audience stood, clapping and cheering for her and even though the camera’s didn’t show it, she did a full bow to the crowd.
“Okay, that was amazing!”
The alcohol was flowing now the worst of the nerves were over with and Seokjin happily accepted the glass of wine, Namjoon a whiskey from Yoongi and Hobi a washed down glass of white wine. All seven boys, their close friends and team lifted their glasses in cheers.
“Namjoon, you do it,” Yoongi said as everyone looked to Seokjin to lead the toast.
“Oh right,” their leader said as he stood, making his way to stand next to the TV where the awards were flowing.
“When I first met noona, I was a shy teenager who had no clue, probably like many of us. She didn’t care that I was into hip hop, that I had big dreams and that I wanted to be something. All she cared about was Namjoon - what did he want? And I never knew the answer to that question until the day she and I were out buying plants,” Namjoon paused then laughed when he realised he was getting teary as was the rest of the boys in front of him.
“She asked what I wanted? And I picked up this plant pot because it was cute. And I realised there and then, that all noona wanted from me was to be happy and if a plant pot made me happy because it was cute, then that’s what she was going to get for me. Seeing her come from someone who didn’t know their place in the world to now seeing her up there on the Grammy stage, I’m very thankful that I have Grace Chu in my life. So fuck the Grammy’s, who gives a shit. Grace Chu just made history!”
Everyone’s glasses went up with cheers. “To Grace Chu!” they all said then downed their alcohol in one go, only for glasses to be filled again just as quickly.
There was complete and utter silence when she didn’t win Best Pop Solo Performance, though Jungkook could see the storm brewing over his leader’s head. “Noona isn’t bothered,” he muttered as he pointed to her on the screen as she laughed and talked to her parents, completely unbothered by the fact she didn’t win.
It turned out to be a very long morning as each award came and went.
“The nominees for Record of the Year are,” that sentence interrupted all the conversations in the room, heads turning on a swivel to stare at the screen.
BTS turned to look at each other and as if they had the same thought, they each reached over to clasp hands. Namjoon closed his eyes, let out a breath and prayed.
“And the winner is,” there was a giant pause and Grace on the screen turned to her mother to say something before the answer was revealed: “7 Rings - Grace Chu.”
There was complete and utter pandemonium in Seokjin’s living room. Namjoon had fallen to the floor on his knees, Jungkook on his back. Taehyung and Jimin were hugging each other, Hobi stared at the screen in utter confusion and Yoongi reached over to wrap an arm around Seokjin’s shoulders.
“She did it, hyung. She actually did it.”
They missed most of her speech, only calming down enough to hear the last part of it.
“Holy shit,” Namjoon muttered as he wiped a hand down his face and stayed where he was. Jungkook grabbed hold of his shoulders and whispered hurriedly at him. “Hyung, hyung, look.”
On screen, Chris Martin from Coldplay was walking across the stage.
“No way,” Seokjin whispered as Yoongi grabbed hold of his hand, squeezing tight. If there was anyone who was important to the couple and to the rest of the band, it would be Chris. The fact he was there to present the biggest award of the night was not missed by anyone.
“The winner for Album of the Year,” Chris paused and turned to look at Grace. “In My Head" by Grace Chu, produced by Bang PD & PDogg from Big Hit Entertainment. Congratulations.”
There was silence for a moment and then a multitude of noise. Cheers, screams, crying, hooting, laughter and some kind of noise Taehyung had produced at the news. Each man had a different reaction as they watched Grace stand and walk up to the stage, greeting Chris the traditional way before hugging him.
They went silent again as Grace started her speech, each of them holding their breath as they were standing. It wasn’t missed that she had said her boys, ARMY and her man separately and for her to acknowledge Seokjin like that on American TV was another big moment.
Jimin’s phone rang just as Grace walked off stage and he quickly pulled it out, seeing Sejin’s name on the screen.
“Ah Sejin-hyung,” Jimin said while he put the voice call on speakerphone so they could hear their old manager.
“Grace is just coming backstage now so I’ve got you on speakerphone, one moment.” They could hear the tears in his voice over the noise in the background. “Grace, the boys are on the phone.”
They were all screaming their congratulations on the line and suddenly they heard Bang-PD on the line.
“Boys,” he started crying again. “I’m so proud of you all. So proud. I’m letting Grace have a moment with her parents but I just wanted to say I’m very proud of you all. Thank you.”
It was hard to even get their words out but there were promises for a celebration dinner when they got back and Grace would speak to them later once she got back to her hotel.
“She did it,” Namjoon whispered as he saw the notifications on his phone on various media outlets across South Korea and America reporting on Grace winning her two Grammys. CL, IU, TXT and others were posting on their social media, tagging BTS and Grace in their posts. Even Billboard had put up a post.
“She did it,” Namjoon repeated as he rested a hand on Seokjin’s back and an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders. Hobi joined them at Jungkook’s side, pulling Jimin and Taehyung in and Yoongi joined them by wrapping an arm around Taehyung and Seokjin.
Grace would return back to Korea, to them, as a twice Grammy awarded artist. And no one would be able to say that Korea’s Noona hadn’t broken the barrier that they all needed to be broken and no one could say that they as a group and individually weren’t leading the way for other Korean idols and groups.

BTS
More info below:
Most commonly known in short as BTS but the full name is Bangtan Sonyeondan 'Bulletproof Boy Scouts'
Longevity: 2010-present, multiple members are currently serving/enlisted and have signed contracts to reunite in 2025.
Audition Process: Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk wanted to form a hip hop group around RM (Kim Nam-joon) who was a well-known yet underground rapper at the time. Bang, seeing more potential in an idol group decided to hold auditions to fill out the group with unique personalities. Those made it past auditions, then went on to live together, practicing up to 15 hours a day, and performing for the first time together before a small crowd of industry insiders in 2013.
TV Show: Beginning in 2013, BTS Rookie King: Channel Bangtan (신인왕 방탄소년단-채널방탄) is the variety television series by boy group BTS. The variety show features the members of BTS parodying different television programs and commercials.
Music: Initially more hip hop based due to band members RM and Suga's background as underground rappers. BTS has also expanded to experiment with R&B, rock, jazz hip hop, EDM, tropical house, future bass, Latin pop, slow-dance ballads, emo rap, Afro pop, funk, trap, pop rock, and hip pop and disco.
Management: Manager Bang Si-hyuk has received many accolades for his role in turning K-pop into a global pop music culture. An interesting anecdote I found on his wiki: "Bang expressed that in the West, there exists a fantasy where good music comes only from rock stars who act true to their individuality. An artist in the West usually works under the radar for many years before getting picked up by a major label. In Korea, more time is spent as a trainee, and good performances can appeal to an audience as well as original music can. It cannot be said for certain which system is better.
Public Perception: Do i even need to say? Everyone is aware of this band rn.
Boy Bands/Idols in the modern era: BTS have made some references to The Beatles and their global impact has been compared many times to Beatlemania. However, BTS's unique rise was facilitated by a great increase in music video programming and consumption on YouTube and the coming of an idol empire, including merchandising of nonmusical products, games, and fantasy fiction, as well as an expansion of online music fandom. This surely can't be compared back to The Monkees and the use of music video programming, marketing, fabrication of image for purposes of merchandising non-musical products, right?
Anyways to end this off, here's a 25 min video from their youtube channel from 5 years ago before they were about to go on their first world tour if this in any way helps you to vote on the poll:
youtube
#I have no idea what to expect with this one cant wait#I still dont know that much about them so if anyone has stuff to add feel free#also i changed the phrasing of the question bc ripoff is a bit aggressive and really cannot be applied to bands such as bts

BTS’s Global Rise Through Music
BTS, short for Bangtan Sonyeondan, has emerged as a global sensation, breaking barriers and redefining what it means to be a superstar in the modern music industry. From their humble beginnings to their record-breaking achievements, BTS’s journey is a testament to the power of music, storytelling, and fan connection.
Their rise from a small South Korean agency to becoming global icons highlights the importance of persistence, creativity, and the unwavering support of their fans, the ARMY. One cannot discuss their success without exploring the key milestones that marked their journey, starting with their debut project, the first album of BTS.
Main Body
1. The Humble Beginnings
The first album of BTS, released in 2013, was a bold step into the K-pop industry. Featuring a mix of hip-hop beats and socially conscious lyrics, the album set the tone for their music journey. Unlike many other artists, BTS focused on themes that resonated deeply with youth, such as societal pressure, mental health, and self-acceptance.
Songs from their debut garnered attention for their authenticity, setting BTS apart from other K-pop acts of the time. The relatable storytelling in their tracks drew listeners worldwide, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Korean music on the global stage.
2. The Power of Emotional Connection
Music that stirs emotions often leaves a lasting impression. BTS excels in creating songs that touch the heart, much like Selena Gomez’s Wolves Selena Gomez lyrics, which resonate with raw vulnerability. BTS, too, is known for blending powerful melodies with lyrics that speak directly to their audience.
Tracks like “Spring Day” and “Fake Love” showcase their ability to capture the highs and lows of life, which has earned them widespread acclaim. Their music is more than entertainment; it’s a source of comfort and understanding for fans navigating their own struggles.
3. Shaping the K-Pop Industry
BTS’s success has been instrumental in transforming the global perception of K-pop. Their focus on creative control and storytelling parallels the boldness seen in hits like Demi Lovato’s Cool for the Summer lyrics, which celebrate individuality and self-expression. BTS’s artistic risks—such as experimenting with genres and incorporating philosophical themes—have paid off immensely.
They’ve broken language barriers, proving that music’s appeal is universal. Songs in Korean have topped charts worldwide, including the Billboard Hot 100, an unprecedented feat for non-English tracks.
4. Recognition Through Prestigious Awards
No discussion of BTS’s rise is complete without mentioning the recognition they’ve received at global award shows. Their performances and achievements have redefined international standards, much like how the VMA Awards full form has long been a symbol of excellence in the music industry.
BTS has claimed multiple awards at the VMAs, including “Best Group” and “Best K-Pop,” demonstrating their crossover appeal. These accolades not only validate their artistry but also signify the cultural shift they’ve catalyzed in the global music scene.
5. Lyrics That Speak to the Soul
BTS’s ability to create relatable lyrics is another cornerstone of their success. Much like the emotional depth in My last made me feel like lyrics, BTS’s songs often reflect personal struggles, triumphs, and introspection. Tracks such as “Epiphany” and “Answer: Love Myself” highlight themes of self-love and resilience, resonating with fans from all walks of life.
Their lyrics, often written by the members themselves, strike a chord with listeners by addressing universal emotions. This personal touch has fostered a deep connection between BTS and their fans, making their music a safe space for millions.
Conclusion
BTS’s journey from their debut album to global superstardom is a story of passion, resilience, and the unifying power of music. They’ve broken barriers, shattered records, and inspired millions with their unwavering authenticity and creativity.
As they continue to redefine the global music industry, BTS’s influence shows no signs of slowing down. Are you a part of the ARMY? Share your favorite BTS song and why it resonates with you in the comments below!

BTS Visits the White House
June 7, 2022
Bangtan Sonyeondan [방탄소년단], better known internationally under the initials BTS, visited America on May 31st to meet with President Joe Biden and discuss Asian inclusion, representation, and diversity. They also spoke on anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination. The visit was coincided with President Biden signing an executive order to reestablish the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) people and signed the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law. BTS’s visit also celebrated the last day of AANHPI History month.
The visit started with a White House press meeting, after a brief introduction by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, BTS members began to speak in turns. Kim Nam-joon (김남준), better known by his stage name RM, was the first. RM is the only BTS member fluent in English and is the group’s leader, this is why he is often the first to speak at important events like this. He said, “Thank you, Karine, for your kind words. And hi, we’re BTS. And it is a great honor to be invited to the White House today to discuss the important issues of anti-Asian hate crimes, Asian inclusion, and diversity.”
Kim Seok-jin (김석진) known by his nickname Jin, the oldest member of BTS, spoke next, “Today is the last day of the AANHPI Heritage Month. We join the White House to stand with the AANHPI community and to celebrate.”
Park Ji-min (박지민), spoke next. Jimin said, “We were devastated by the recent surge of hate crimes, including Asian American hate crimes. To put a stop on this and support the cause, we’d like to take this opportunity to voice ourselves once again.”
Jung Ho-seok (정호석), stage name J-Hope, said: “We are here today thanks to our A.R.M.Y. – our fans worldwide – who have different nationalities and cultures and use different languages. We are truly and always grateful.”
ARMY is the acronym for BTS fans, standing for “Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth”. It’s from the more ‘bad boy’ style early BTS had. Fandoms having official names is pretty common throughout the K-Pop industry. When you join the BTS fandom you’re ‘recruited’ into army. Occasionally army is called ‘purple army’ to avoid confusion with the military. Purple is from the famous “I purple you.” quote by V. Essentially a promise to love the fans from a language pun. This is why the color purple and the purple heart emoji is so heavily associated with BTS.
Immediately after J-Hope spoke Jeon Jung-kook (전정국) spoke. Jungkook said: “We still feel surprised that music created by South Korean artists reaches so many people around the world, transcending languages and cultural barriers. We believe music is always an amazing and wonderful unifier of all things.”
Min Yoon-gi (민윤기) know by the stage name Suga (and by the stage name Agust D for his independent work) said, “It’s not wrong to be different. I think equality begins when we open up and embrace all of our differences.”
Kim Tae-hyung (김태형) known by the stage name V said, “Everyone has their own history. We hope today is one step forward to respecting and understanding each and every one as a valuable person.”
Then RM spoke again, “And lastly, we thank President Biden and the White House for giving this important opportunity to speak about the important causes, remind ourselves of what we can do as artists. Once again, thank you very much.”
All non RM quotes are, of course, a translation done by the on-site translator immediately after the members spoke. After the translation the members were ushered out to the Oval Office to have their discussion with President Biden. In the short video released by the White House as a teaser for the full discussion, BTS walked across the lawn RM spoke for the group telling Biden, “It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. President.”
“Well welcome to White House, com’on up here guys.” Biden invited them in. His voice continues as the footage fades to BTS sitting in the Oval Office in front of Biden. “This is an impotent month here in America. A lot of our Asian Americans friends have been subjected to real discrimination. Hate only hides,” he points towards BTS, “and when good people talk about it it goes down. So thank you.”
RM speaks, he’s not nervous but he is speaking carefully, “We want to say thank you, sincerely, for your decision like such as signing the Covid 19 Hate Crimes Act into law. So we just want to be a little help and we truly appreciate the White House and the government’s trying to find solutions.”
“People care a lot about what you say,” Biden begins, “and what you’re doing is great for all people. It’s not just your great talent, it’s the message you’re communicating. It matters.”
The video then ends on the White House logo.
BTS being chosen for such an impressive opportunity is a wonderful reminder of just how far they’ve come since their debut. With multiple UN speeches on youth advocacy and self appreciation they are uniquely qualified for this. Hopefully their messages of love and unity alongside a plea to stop violence against Asian & AANHPI people finds its way into the hearts and minds of those who need to hear it.

Apobangpo: My personal experience being in the BTS fandom.
From taking over the world with their music and charm to paving the road for the future generation of K-pop groups, it is no doubt that BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) deserve every success and achievement for their amazing artistry. But, behind the scenes, the 7 boys never fail to mention their most loyal fandom, ARMY, for making their dreams come true. Though the fandom might seem overprotective and at times, seen as merciless, they are certain people in the community who are just as nice as every other people. For this blog post, I will be telling my personal experience being in the BTS fandom.
Like many other K-pop acts, big or small, having a fandom, especially those who are loyal and supportive, is what enables a person or a group to be successful. The majority of the people are enthusiasts of something or someone (Gray et al,. 2007).
Before BTS, I was already an avid fan of K-pop, mainly Super Junior, Girls Generation, you name it. However, once I got into high school, my interest in K-pop kind of shifted towards American pop until, in 2017, my friend, who was already an ARMY, managed to persuade me to listen to one of their latest tracks titled ‘Serendipity’. Needless to say, I became an ARMY from that day onwards. K-pop groups are known to have lots of members, so it took me a while to get to know all 7 seven members because back then, they all looked pretty much similar to me, but I eventually got the hang of it. My existing fan account on X was initially a Harry Styles fan account (I was a die-hard 1D fan once), then it became a Marvel fan account, and finally, to this day, my account is maintained as a BTS fan account.
It wasn’t hard finding other mutuals who are into BTS all thanks to my friend. I have made several friends during my days of being in the BTS fandom. People from all over the world, but mainly SEA countries. We would often share our likes and dislikes, favourite pictures of every BTS members, links to watch BTS’ videos and among other stuff. I remember back then, BigHit (now: HYBE) used to release teasers at 12 AM and most of my close mutuals and I would stay up late, waiting. There were times when we least expected it but that’s where it makes the experience fun. You would see the timeline being bombarded with screenshots of the teasers, every army posting about them losing their minds over the visuals, snippets of the songs etc etc.
Despite my wonderful experience, there were also some instances where I question myself if I resonate myself with this community. BTS went from being an underdog in the K-pop industry to being one of the most famous Korean acts to sweep the charts, outsold multiple stadiums and garnering millions upon millions of views on their music videos. So, it was understandable that ARMY wanted the boys to win every award or at the very least, a nomination. I, of course, second on this but when it comes to voting for the award ceremony or music programs and mass streaming newly released music videos/songs, it quickly turn from just being a fun little hobby to a more of a chore. By that I mean, if you weren’t sharing hashtags or streaming, you’re automatically labelled as useless. There were countless of army telling each other to stream, vote and post with the hashtags without realising that we’re still people, with responsibility and a life outside the fandom sphere. These army would resort to guilt-tripping you to the max if you weren’t doing as what you were told. Not to mentioned, there were also some posts where they would list down ARMY accounts who aren’t streaming and/or voting. It was that serious.
Eventually as time moves forward, streaming and voting weren’t viewed as a very serious matter, considering how a lot of the ARMY has matured and most of them have got into universities, jobs and even some got married. So, being in the fandom became like a hobby again.
I really cherish my time being in the fandom, although I am now just a casual fan, who sometimes check on the boys from time to time, listen to their new songs and congratulate them on their achievements. I don’t regret any of it because I met wonderful people and made some connections outside of X. The boys will always have a special place in my heart, considering how their music really helped me a lot during my tough times. Those who are not a fan of BTS, I would really recommend listening to their songs, you don’t have to be in the fandom to do so but not going to lie, some people who said they were just there to listen to the music, in the end, ended up being an ARMY.

My Favorite Musicccc
Hello I am Krey Chester Singco! and today I will be talking about the history of K-pop and Taylor Swift! lets start! :]
I Love listening to K-pop and Taylor Swift here's the history of K-pop – When did K-pop start? Unlike other musical genres, contemporary K-pop start can be pinpointed to a certain date: April 11th of 1992, when the group Seo Taiji and Boys performed their music on TV for the first time.
This is a picture of NewJeans they have been a group since 2022
History about Taylor swift? Here:
Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. Recognized for her songwriting, musical versatility, artistic reinventions, and influence on the music industry, she is a prominent cultural figure of the 21st century.
Born: December 13, 1989 (age 33 years).
This is a picture of Taylor Alison Swift (Ik she's pretty)
You want Something about BTS? sure!
This is BTS they've been a group since 2013!
BTS was formed by Bang Si-Hyuk, a successful songwriter and music producer who established his own studio, Big Hit Entertainment, in 2005. In 2010 he began to assemble talent for a group he was calling the Bangtan Sonyeondan (“Bulletproof Boy Scouts”), which would later become better known as BTS.
Its time for Rock'n'Roll!!
Rock and roll (often written as rock & roll, rock 'n' roll, or rock n roll) is a genre of popular music that evolved in the United States during the late 1940s and early 1950s. It originated from African-American music such as jazz, rhythm and blues, boogie-woogie, gospel, jump blues, as well as country music.
now for Lo-Fi music! :]
Lo-fi (also typeset as lofi or low-fi; short for low fidelity) is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections in the context of a recording or performance are present, sometimes as a deliberate choice. The standards of sound quality (fidelity) and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such.
This is the Lo-Fi study girl I usually listen to her Lo-Fi music for studying!:]
And that's it for music! Thank you very much for reading :]

Spilling my heart out as an armycarat
I know it’s only been more than a year since I became a KPop stan, but one thing is for sure, I’m glad to have slipped into the diamond life, truly, for the rest of my life.
Both BTS and Seventeen are self-made artists, and even though they’re 8-10 years in the KPop industry already, you can really feel their passion and dedication with their work which is mostly shown in their performances and releases. It’s something that really inspires me and I really find it admiring because I’ve never stanned any artist the way I stanned BTSVT. They deserve all the recognition and respect they get because of their hard work.
BTSVT both show how much they adore and respect their fans (known as “army” and “carats”) by sharing equal adoration. The amount of love, support, teamwork, and respect each fandom shows toward BTSVT is reciprocated doubly. The way these idols give 1100% of their best in every performances, comebacks, and group/solo content is already enough for us fans to also keep that fiery energy and support them all the way through.
All I could say as a proud armycarat is that I’m glad to have met BTSVT in this lifetime. I’m glad I entered the magic shop and slipped to this diamond life. I know I’ve said this lots and lots of times but Bangtan Sonyeondan and Seventeen became my home (Siri, play Home by BTS and Home by Seventeen). They became my shoulder to lean on. They became my source of strength and inspiration. I must say that I grew another heart loving BTS and Seventeen.
I hope these 20 amazing, talented, and wonderful people from South Korea knows how much they saved me. Their music saved me. BTS and SVT saved me.
Thank you for all your hard work, btsvt! I hope we get old together.
In this diamond life, for the rest of my life 💜🩵🩷

The Gradual Success of the Biggest
“Self-improvement and success often occur together. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the same thing.” A line from one of my favorite book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bangtan Boys, consists of 7 members. They are known worldwide for their massive impact, not just to the youth and music industry. They even conquered politics and societal and worldwide issues at this point. However, their success wasn’t even at its peak yet.
For being a small and underrated group from South Korea, only a few people believe that they will be able to make it this far. Now, they are well known and highest paid musicians in the world. They are the first Korean group to ever be nominated at the most prestigious music award ceremony. They even performed at the Grammys’ stage, not just as a guest but as nominees. BTS was the first KPOP band to lead the Billboard Hot 100 ever, such an elevated milestone for an artist.
Their success is being proven and validated by many people who have been with them since 2013. They are a group who consistently strive to be better in every chance they get. Their success wasn’t forced. They climbed the ladder without skipping a single step. They are always persistent in improving themselves, making their success valid and inalienable.
This made me redefine success. Success was something that must be achieved solely out of your hard work and perseverance. You cannot enjoy the things you accomplished if it’s something you’ve never done from the fruit of your effort. BTS truly deserves it, and they will always serve as an inspiration to us all— youths of this generation.

Feels Like Our Hard Work Finally Paid Off: Korean Band BTS On Grammy Nomination
Beyond The Scene (BTS) is the first South Korean music group to be nominated for a Grammy Award in a prominent category.
Fresh off their first mainstream Grammy nomination, K-pop sensation or Beyond The Scene (BTS) says their hard work has finally paid off and they are one step closer to their childhood dream of a win at the world's biggest music awards.
Their song "Dynamite" asks listeners to "keep your eye on the ball", and BTS seems to have done just that with the group being nominated for the best pop duo/group performance at the Grammys on Tuesday.
The septet, comprising RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, said they hope to bring home another laurel in 2021 following the historic Oscar win of director Bong Joon-ho's genre-defying film "Parasite" this year. BTS is the first South Korean music group to be nominated for a Grammy Award in a prominent category.
Group leader RM told PTI in an email interaction that BTS is "truly honoured" by the recognition from Recording Academy, the institution behind the Grammys. "We tremendously respect what director Bong Joon-ho achieved at the Oscars, and it was a very proud moment for us as South Korean artists. Similar to the Oscars, the Grammys are the most respected award in the music industry which we grew up watching to foster our dreams as musicians,” said the 26-year-old, whose full name is Kim Nam-joon. We're truly honoured and happy about our very first nomination. It makes us even happier to know how delighted our fans must be right now. It feels like our hard work has finally paid off," he added. For the group – the full name is Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts) or Beyond The Scene, their English branding -- bagging a Grammy has been a longstanding "dream", something they hope to realise with the win of "Dynamite".
"Dynamite", a funky disco number ushering in positivity amid the Covid-19 pandemic, is their first full-fledged English single and their career's first Billboard Hot 100 No 1 hit.
The song will compete with "Un Dia", "Intentions", "Rain On Me" and "Exile" at the January 31 ceremony. They were previously up for an obscure best recording package Grammy in 2019 for 'Love Yourself: Tear'.
"We're thrilled to be even closer to our childhood dream. Since we’re nominated, we hope this leads to a win. We'll prove ourselves on the Grammy stage," said j-hope, whose real name is Jung Ho-seok.
BTS was poised for a world tour to promote their album “Map of the Soul: 7” earlier this year but it had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. They have used the time to be in regular touch with ARMY, a term for their fans, sending their healing touch through online concerts.
V said their greatest wish at this point is for the pandemic situation to pass so that they can finally meet fans all over the world again in person. "We have not been to India yet, so we look forward to having a concert and performing there if we get a chance in the future," the 24-year-old, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, promised.
Last week, BTS released “BE”, their new album and most personal work. It is yet another important addition in their discography characterised by themes of aspiration, hope, relatability and togetherness through hits like "ON", "Black Swan", "DNA", and "Boy With Luv".
“BE” comes in a year when the septet completes seven years of their debut. It is also special because it is a project on which all members participated actively, Jimin, 25, said. While V turned visual director and Jimin served as project manager for the album, Jung Kook directed the music video for the lead single, "Life Goes On".
The production process of “BE” reflects the thoughts and emotions the members feel in the current situation, Jimin said. "This album is also our message of healing to the world that is going through a difficult time at the moment. We hope that the listeners can find comfort through our music while listening," the singer, whose real name is Park ji-min, said. The word 'be' has multiple connotations. Asked what it means to them, RM said one of the first words when you learn English grammar in Korea is the verb 'be'.
" 'Be' can have an infinite number of meanings and forms depending on what word comes before or after. I think our new album can be the starting point for us to explore endless possibilities as well," he said. For Jin, “Be” means “to exist”.
"I think it can translate into the fact that we haven't seen our fans in person for more than a year, yet we're still here," the 27-year-old, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, said. Jung Kook, 23, said the album's title holds a "hopeful meaning" for him. "It's always used when you want 'to be something' and I always want to be a great person for ARMY," the youngest member, whose real name is Jeon Jung-kook, added. Jimin said the word 'be' reminds him of the results and aspirations that he has gained after many experiences, "which make me stronger".
"I think 'be' is a word that best expresses myself at the moment. I'm thrilled that the album is released. I'm undeniably 'BE'TS," quipped j-hope, true to his sunny personality. V believes “be” is a point of preparation to start something. "That could be having a peace of mind or the complete opposite," he added. SUGA, 27, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, said the meaning of 'be' signifies "my future that I will welcome with a smile".
With three rappers in RM, SUGA and j-hope and four singers, the band is the manifestation of unity in diversity - not just as singing styles, but also as individuals who have evolved over the years. Asked what makes the group, Jin said the band's greatest strength is the effort they make to convey the messages they want to deliver to the world "candidly and boldly".
"We believe that there is no stronger medium than music, which can embody messages of hope, comfort, joy and so on. We're thankful that we are capable of doing so with music and performance," he added.
Like Korean films and dramas, Korean music too has been there since time immemorial, but the world has just started recognising South Korea as a culture at large. Asked what could be the contributing factors to the rising international interest in the country, Jung Kook said, "We believe South Korean culture is very beautiful and attractive, which is portrayed through diverse contents such as movies, dramas, music, etc. As artists representing South Korea, we also want to share this with the rest of the world."

no bundles. no remixes. barely any radioplay. no features. mostly Korean lyrics. the first artists in history.
i have never been the kind of person to be dramatic over any kind of chart results, but godDAMN!!! i might just cry a little today. they did it!!! they really did it.
#kpop#bts#bangtan#bangtan boys#bangtan sonyeondan#this comes off as super emotional but WOW I did NOT expect one of their Korean songs to top the charts#even if I so badly wanted one to#just because of how English-focused (& sometimes Spanish-) the US music industry is#and I thought it would take a while yet before we hit that goal#if we ever did#(also because it IS emotional)#but WHAT?!?! LET’S REMOVE PREJUDICE IN THE GLOBAL MUSIC INDUSTRY
Hmm, so a lot of thoughts right now. I was out with a few new friends from law school last week, and we were talking about how listening to music in a language you don’t understand could help you focus. Someone brought up kpop as that potential music and one of the guys said “oh my god I’d kill myself if I listened to kpop for that long” or something along those lines, and honestly it made me kinda mad and it shows the prejudices that are still held against kpop in the UK. Like I don’t think a lot of people actually bother to listen to any good kpop music and just have premature judgements. Like I guess kpop is mostly pop but this particular guy is into edm and there’s actually quite a lot of edm inspired kpop songs. Like theres a lot of stuff I can think of including a load of old g.soul stuff that I think would be right up his street, but because kpop has this stigma and prejudice around it, he and others don’t even think to give it a chance. This is what kpop is having to fight against. Western culture and media dominates the world and kpop artists have to fight so hard against that. That’s why BTS’s achievements are so amazing and I’m so incredibly proud of them. Music is a language that can be understood regardless of where you come from and what language you speak, and kpop should be included in the global music agenda. I am so proud and thankful to BTS for their hard work that has brought kpop onto the global stage and introduced it intto the mainstream, but we still have a long way to go. So guys, lets continue to promote not just BTS but kpop, and create a more inclusive global music industry :)
