Kokushibo, as a character, is a testament to Kny's strength as a story, especially in its ability to make readers sympathize with and humanize its characters. It's one thing to invoke sympathy for the Shabana siblings or Akaza, whose lives were tragic, but doing so for someone like Michikatsu Tsugikuni, who seemingly had everything, is entirely different. Unlike other demons in the manga who faced unfortunate circumstances, Michikatsu grew up with two loving parents, was raised in a lavish mansion, received the best education, wore the finest clothing, and was favored as the heir. He inherited his father's name and profession, had a beautiful family, and was rich, healthy, and strong. Despite all this, he was consumed with jealousy toward his less fortunate twin.

The tragedy of Michikatsu is his inability to see all these blessings. He was blind not only to his good fortune but also to his own emotions, too obsessed with seeking power and glory. As readers, we see what he is missing out on (his relationship with his brother, his family, his humanity, his honor as a samurai), all of which he threw away, chasing something ultimately insignificant. By the time he realizes his mistake, it’s too late, and he's already dying. At that moment, he finally understands that what he truly wanted was to be like Yoriichi. But in trying to attain strength similar to his twin's power -something Yoriichi never desired- he lost everything that truly mattered. Yoriichi would have given away his strength for their father’s love, their mother’s health, or one night with his Uta and their child, all the things Michikatsu had and wasted. This is why his character is so brilliantly written and why it is one of my favorites because it wasn’t an illness, poverty, or external circumstances that destroyed him, but his own choices.

For a story to present a character who seemingly has it all, make them so deeply flawed, and still pull at the reader’s heartstrings is remarkable. His undoing comes from his humanity, greed, desire, and ambition, which is understandable because who of us haven't wanted to make a name for themselves, live up to our potential, or never felt the sting of jealousy before. These feelings are deeply human and relatable. But as readers, we can still see the whole picture, which leads us to feel frustration and sorrow. Watching a once gentle boy who made a flute for Yoriichi turn into something so monstrous, overlooking everything that truly mattered to him once to obtain an illusion, is heartbreaking. His story just stays with you

Time Warp Ch.2

Summary: Lightwood reader time travels to the last hours times and saves Matthew Fairchild, he tries to help her while Magnus looks for a way to get her back in her time.

Pairing: Matthew Fairchild x Lightwood reader (Alec's twin)

Matthew Fairchild

James brought over the clothes, it was a dress, a fine dress and we were waiting outside the room, i could feel my parabatai’s glare roaming upon my figure. I was trying to wash him off and thankfully her voice was heard from inside the room. “I am seriously stuck!” she exclaimed, her accent too american. “May I enter?” i asked her. “Well yes!” she exclaimed and I entered without further ado. I witnessed her on a very apocalyptic tank top, her runes distinguished on her pale skin. I gasped and turned around as if i had never seen a woman and I wasn't shamelessly strolling in hell ruelle. “What happened victorian boy, shocked by a female neck?” she asked me and stared at me.

“You were too panicked a while ago, and now you are making sarcastic remarks…” I pointed out and approached her, my hands methodically worked on the strings of the corset to fix them. I can't even imagine how she managed to make a mess out of these. She sighed and stared at how i was untangling them. “We knit them in x shape to the bottom of the corset and -hold on the bedpost- we pull” i said and tied the strings. She huffed “why do women have to go through that honestly! i miss my jeans already” she protested as i was done securing the dress around her.

“wwhat are jeans?” I asked her and sat next to her.

“a perfectly comfortable pair of pants that can be styled with anything” she explained and set aside her clothes, a necklace with a ring fell on the floor, i leaned and got it, it had flames around if and her family initial. She took it and frowned looking at it, her eyes blue shining with tears i knew she wouldn't shed, it was incredible the way she looked like Cecily Lightwood- it was incredible that she came from one hundred years forward, us nephilim do not seem much different, she still is baring our angelic marks and fights with a whip and seraph blades. “Magnus will be here shortly- you seemed pretty relieved when you heard his name.” i reminded her , my shoulder barely brushed over her shoulder.

“It's not that simple- my life is practically a century away…and an ocean away for that matter” She pointed out and smiled at me with a gentle nudge “You know i have a very different opinion for the name fairchild and you sorta start altering it.” she added. “Really, why? what was the bad experience of a Fairchild you had.” I asked her and smiled crooked. “My cocky adopted brother fell in love with a mundane that has the sight and surprise turns out that she is a fairchild off-spring…” she huffed, annoyance sinking in. “You certain you are not plotting a Jane Austen novel?” i laughed but it was cut short as the door knocked, she nodded “Come in.” i said and the door was opened wide.

Y/N Lightwood

A tall man, muscular with buttoned shirt, but not completely buttoned, his hair is black with some gray roots on some edges. “Hello” he said awkwardly, his eyes scanning me, I could tell I looked familiar to him. “You seem… casual” he noticed and i raised my eyebrows, “i am a Shadowhunter sir… i am not sure what you expected” i said and looked at him. “Indeed- what is your name” he asked me “I am Y/N Lightwood and I am from the New York institute but from 2009…” i explained briefly.

“I really wish to know how you travelled through centuries, however, I am sincerely horrified to ask” the man said and sat on an armchair with frustration overflowing, he rubbed his temple and his gaze turned up at me, his eyes seemed oddly familiar with my twins… By the angel Alec must be horrified.

“Long story short… i had to travel to London to visit on behalf of my family. We are the head of the New York institute, we are dealing with some sort of twisted Shadowhunters that praise demons, and i guess i am a victim of their funny spells.” i explained bluntly, my voice trembled without me realising and i felt a hand on my shoulder, i turned my head as Matthew stood behind me. “She saved me the moment she arrived-” he explained and i looked at him with a slight smile.

“How old are you?” he asked

“19” i responded

“Shall older Shadowhunters not deal with the demon fanatics you mentioned- and not a barely Clave member” William Herondale noticed.

“...Uh basically yes but i am sure you know how the clave members go deaf when teenagers tell them that what they do is wrong” I responded out of spite turning the tables.

“Ah… so my prestige precedes me. That is quiet true. I heard you are familiar with Magnus Bane.” William stated

“Correct he assists us on more occasions than one…” I explained when there was another knock on the door.

“Dear, Magnus awaits in your office…” a woman peaked her head in, her accent American.

“You are American?” i asked and looked at her, she was pretty, elegant with something royal in the way she stood as she opened the door wider.

“I lived there long ago” she smiled and turned to Matthew “James expects you in the library, i am sure Will will ask you to leave either way” she explained and i followed William herondale in his office to witness the same eccentric warlock, i grew to love as family.

“is this the trouble?” he asked, his cat eyes sharp, i didn't react, i was familiar with it.

“Wow, you left your manners at the gate Magnus?” i asked him

“You either have the audacity to call me by my first name or you really know me” he stated and i shook my head with an eyeroll.

“Look can you do your sparkly blue magic to confirm my words and then sent me back to my place, a time when you are really much more elegant and likeable I might add…” I spoke and looked at William Herondale who seemed to be entertained.

“I obviously am more stylish a hundred years from now… i evolve little nephilim” he said znd stood up. “i need to see what is going on… i need permission to go into your head” he said and i simply nodded and sighed.

Magnus Bane

I remained chill, no matter how concerning such paradoxical activity such as time travel was something he never thought he would encounter and he never has encountered. Therefore I guess, in the future I would have somehow warned her in any case, and if I hadn't managed to fix it now I probably wouldn't have met her in the future. He thought to himself took a deep breath resisting the need to sneak a peek of my future life.

“I will go… go to Starkweather and see if the book is there… in and out no one will know” She said and i noticed a familiar figure… it wasn't William but they looked alike although the boy was much taller. “We always know that the in and out goes on a huge mess usually” a redhead pointed out and Y/N turned and looked at her. “Usually because of you, your mundane friend and my cocky brother” she responded and walked to the portal and activated the rune to open it but it wouldn't work. “Odd…” A shorter girl with brunette hair approached and trued herself”That is not okay” the blonde approach. a few seconds passed and the portal opened….

Night, rain, London and a voice familiar to Magnus… “Matthew!” James Herondale yelled and Y\N jumped in Thames… and that i know. I released the spell and she gasped.

“Are you well?” Will asked and she nodded remaining silent.

“I need you to draw a rune with your stele…” I requested and she raised an eyebrow.

“Why do you say ir like its the answer to all our problems” She remarked with suspicion as she glared at them.

“Your stele didn't work on the portal, perhaps it is tampered with and I believe you haven't used it.” i explained and she took it out softly placing it on an iratze, she flinched pausing her gaze staring at us. “it burned” i realising looking at her skin…

“it feels like ichor… demon ichor.” She said and William approached and looked at it. “it has the result of demon ichor, who is the brilliance who thought you should relieve your great great great grand Father's incantation…” Will exclaimed with a sigh and draw another iratze with his own stele.

“I am not going to tell you the future Herondale, and do not speak of my family, hear me?” she snapped and frowned.

“And now i am starting to regret for not spreading the Lightworm alterations further…” William huffed and i rolled my eyes “William i shall remind you at this point you are an adult… what am i even saying,... anyway i can solve the demon spell and perhaps add another in your stele so you can go back the way you came….” i spoke and looked at them. “in the meantime help yourself” he said
