bamboo shoots plz~~?

how the crap do I get more bamboo? do the trees just randomly produce bamboo shoots like the randomness of flowers growing?

or do I need to plant more bamboo and they can only produce sprouts only once?

if that's the case, get shoots from planted bamboo, cut down bamboo, plant new bamboo sprouts in their place, if the trees only produce bamboo ONCE~~~

and if that's the case, having a constant supply of bamboo sprouts is going to be very annoying.....
