As a sapphic with Christian parents,

whenever I tell my mom I like girls, she always assumes I’m just physically attracted to them, therefore reducing my love for girls to just sex so that she can call it sinful.

I love it when they put their hair behind their ear when a strand falls into their face that covers their eyes

I love how they call up their friends all giddy after something exciting has happened to them because they just can’t hold it in any longer

I love when they’re all alone and start humming songs while doing tasks, alongside with the birds chirping outside

I love when they take time to paint their nails in cute colours, wash their hair with their favourite shampoo, do their makeup on the floor of their room because they like the way how the light hits their face in that specific spot.

I love when they stop walking just to pet a stray animal and being patient with them so that they feel safe in their presence.

I love when they bite on their soft lips or comb through their hair with their fingers when they are deeply in thought.

I love the sound of them giggling with their friends and how crinkles form in their nose when they grin

I love when before a party they get ready with their friends and help each other with their make-up, and how they look so happy when they feel pretty in their cute outfits, hyping each other up

I love how they smile at you when you make eye contact with them in a store, making your heart a little flustered leaving you hoping they know how beautiful they are

I love how they all have their own special thing and how they’re all so angelic in their own way and I hope I’m lucky enough to someday love another girl the way I’m made to.

And if your God calls this love a sin, maybe I don’t want to be a part of your idea of heaven.

It's okay to talk about how your romantic attraction overlaps with your asexuality. It's not greedy to want representation of both your romanticism and your asexuality together in 1 character. It's not a lesser form of asexual representation if the character has romantic attraction. It's not a lesser form of queer romantic representation if the character is asexual. You are not a lesser form of anything. You don't have to 'choose' whether your asexuality or your romanticism matters more. It's not amatornativity to want an asexual relationship for yourself or express your romantic attraction. It's not allonormative or gross to express your interest in the same gender if you have it. It's okay if sexual/romantic/platonic look and feel completely different to you. It's not automatically 'just sexual attraction then' if it involves anything physical. It's not a privilege to have romantic attraction if it's illegal, moralised or stigmatised despite being asexual. In case anyone needs to hear it.

Does anybody else ever want to have a life where you wake up in the morning next to your loving wife, who smiles and gives you a small kiss on the forehead, and you kiss her back before going downstairs to make toast and tea for breakfast for the both of you, and then you both head into the small cozy village where you live, to the bookstore that you run together holding hands and talking the whole way and enjoying the miracle that is each other's presence, or is it just me?

For lesbians on the asexual spectrum, lesbians with sexual trauma, lesbians with physical sexual conditions and lesbians who just don't want to for their own reasons, lesbianism for us can be pretty non-sexual so lesbianism can be about the boring hand holding and vanilla cuddling sometimes actually because everyone's got different experiences and there's room for everyone and that's ok I think.
