Australia’s international education system has become a “Ponzi scheme” in which overseas agents are paid bonuses to lure foreign students with the promise of full-time work, a parliamentary inquiry has heard.

The chief executive of the International Education Association of Australia, Phil Honeywood, on Tuesday said universities were offering bonuses to education agents on top of commissions to funnel students to their courses.

He told the inquiry that sometimes money was being “handed in an envelope under the table” to unregulated agents who directed young people into courses that didn’t suit their talents or skills.

sorry if you've answered this before, and i hope you don't mind me asking, how do you know so much about computers and what seems to me like everything in the world? how did you become so knowledgeable? it's amazing

I do know a lot about computers and that's because I've worked at a computer company for 12 years and have been deep into a computery subculture for about 20 years - I do genuinely know a lot about consumer computers. That I'll own and that's experience.

I know a fair amount about literature because I've got a degree in it!

I know a fair amount about journalism because I've got most of a degree in it and I worked with journalists for a long time!

I know a fair amount about nutrition because I've got most of a degree in it and because I've been focused on reading a lot about nutrition for more than a decade because of my own food issues!

But mostly I'm just someone who falls down rabbitholes and has a decent ability to recall what I find when I run down them.

Also I get curious about things and will just go. Experience them.

Like at some point i came across a site for people who own and use RealDolls and I got interested in learning more. The site required an application because they didn't want people just trolling so I applied and I ended up reading through the whole site and reading the magazines they sent out for years after because it was just interesting. The way these guys bought clothes or compared repair techniques and cleaning techniques, the way they constructed identities for their dolls - it was all interesting! (Also though I've attended various colleges at various levels for ten-ish years now and I've taken probably more college-level classes on a lot of subjects than most people have because I've now spent several years just kind of kicking around at community colleges and deciding that a cartooning class sounds fun or that a mesoamerican art class fills certain transfer requirements or that I might as well brush up on spanish, french, and german. Access to low-cost college classes in california is a big part of this, and having the time and money to take classes while i'm working is something that I've been very lucky with)

I've also worked pretty much continuously since I was 18, sometimes holding multiple jobs at once, and I know a lot of interesting people who do a lot of interesting things and I ask them about their interesting experiences and if they offer me a chance to go do cool shit with them, like launch a high altitude balloon or blow up some dynamite that's about to expire or join a band, I do it!

I was also one of those kids who had no friends and spent too much time at the library so I'd do things like read through medical textbooks or pull a book of home chemical formulas out of the trash and read it or take it into my head that I was going to read all of Shakespeare before I got to high school so I was a really annoying twelve-year-old and that kind of thing never really let up.

I don't know! I don't think it's that unusual and I think most people do this kind of thing I just happen to have less focus than a lot of people and talk a lot more.

Got this Sabine cropped hoodie Heroes & Villains because I really dig Sabine's adult color scheme in the live action Ahsoka, and really liked the application of the design here! I've bought a few clothing items from Heroes & Villains before, and they've consistently been of high quality, and I wasn't disappointed here.

I really like this hoodie because it's got the perfect in-between fabric weight, where it's thin enough and feels great against skin so I can just wear it as a long sleeve shirt, or I can wear it as outerwear with something underneath. It's a perfect fall hoodie, though I'd want to wear something over it in colder winter.

Another thing I really dig is all the textures. It's got embroidery for the patches, the gold bars on the chest representing Sabine's chest armor lights, and the starbird outline in the back, and printed patterns in the front that are tastefully faded for a slightly weathered effect. There are 4 colors of fabrics that are overstitched with plum thread. Just the variety of textures going on here really tickles my artist brain and makes it really fun to touch and wear!

I do want mention that because this is a "cropped hoodie," it does fall shorter than most hoodies do on the torso, though I wouldn't quite call it true crop top short. This means that for people with some chest like myself, it kinda balloons out, and doesn't create the most slimming silhouette. I'm wearing an L here, because I like baggy hoodies (plus, what's the point if I can't fit a cat inside??), and that may also be contributing. I could probably fit in an M size too. But just a head's up there!

I also wish it had pockets, since I'm very much a want-to-tuck-hands person, but I get why they decided not to include them.

Overall I really love this hoodie, and it's a part of my regular wardrobe now!

Dark adam and eve with their surrogate reader

Maybe eve didnt want to carry a baby, maybe she cant handle a pregnancy, maybe shes completely infertile. Yet she wanted a family, desperately, IVF wouldnt work and she wanted to be a mother. She wanted to raise a child and see them flourish.

She was the first to suggest surrogacy, she wanted to have no connections with the surrogate after the birth unless she wanted more children. Adam also wanted a family and although he couldnt have one in the traditional way he was just happy to have the chance to become a father, so he agreed.

That's until you came along and eve had very mix feelings, she battled with jealousy, insecurity and obsession affection. What if adam left her because she couldnt give him children but you could? What if you wanted to back out? Why could you have kids but she couldnt?

She keeps you close in order to monitor your every move, she cant have you eating something that's bad for the baby or hurting the baby from doing too much movement (you're not even showing yet). You go along with all of it because why wouldnt you? This is your first time plus it's their first child, they're just worried.

That is until your 4th month where that little bump appears and shes no longer thinking of you as a service and more as an addition. She feels guilty, as if shes being unfaithful to adam. That is until she catches him jerking off to your application photo, they have a long discussion and come to the decision that you have to be with them whether you like it or not.

> naturally they have to move you in during your final trimester, they want to make sure your comfortable plus you've done so much for them they have to give back. Theyll take care of you after the birth and you can stay forever for as long as you need.

> both adam and eve are closer than ever, adam massages your feet, back, neck or any where your aching. Eve brings you your cravings and talks about baby names, baby clothes and the future with you.

> when you go into labour they're both in the delivery room with you, you dont pay mind to the praise and sweet words they say to you as you're sure this is just normal behaviour. You dont pay mind how they let you hold the baby after its born, or how they kissed you head when you brought the child into the world or how they bought balloons, cards, teddy bears, and other merchandise with "congratulations mom".

> when they bring you home you then notice they include you in their family activities, they let you hold the baby a lot more than a simple surrogate should. Not to mention they encourage you to breastfeed as well as change the baby.

> I mean they don't want you to get ppd from being away from the baby do you? Plus you're already recovering from the birth you need to heal up so stay with them longer, your apartment will be fine and your breastmilk will help the baby grow and stay healthy than that useless formula (despite the fact they got plenty of high quality, verrry expensive formula from their baby shower)

and then adam and eve are at some important business trips. they’re busy for a good while. sure you still send them updates and the doctor sends them special updates and what not. and you’re weirdly happy? nobody breathing down your neck, trying to overstep their boundaries by controlling everything

they’re back, which is good. as soon as they’re back you’re standing in the doctors office even though it’s not necessary 😭 and you’re wearing a baggy sweater and then you lift it up to get that ultrasound done and eves lips leave that little gasp at finally seeing a bump

suddenly she’s back to being nice??? you feel like you’re going insane. and when you look at adam he seems also surprised. but he’s not about to fight with his wife so he’s rolling with it

like habds constantly on your bump and they’re talking to it which is cute!! they’re very caring and will be great parents, you’re sure about that :D

at this point you were seeing them everyday. you’re trying to study and they want to take you crib shopping. like you don’t care about that???? hello??? trying to shake them off is do hard. they always find a way to drag you out with them
