"What makes us tick," he was watching Izuku. "What we're capable of," he said, staring at Kacchan. "It's all about camaradery, right, guys?"

Kacchan didn't reply, and Izuku followed his lead.

God fuck (yes, that's how we start this post, get ready)

The idea of Pacific Rim AU came to my mind once again (thank u Tumblr), and just, Izuku and Katsuki being on a Jaeger together is good af, I love that, yes them fighting together after [tragic loss of family member], that's the good stuff

But Izuku being a scientist obsessed with Kaiju and being all over the place with his experiments and Katsuki finding out what he is trying to do and going "ugh, I guess I have to take care of this nerd now" and joining him

The whole thing with them going together to learn what's the Kaiju plan, Katsuki never being able to get on a Jaeger again because of the damage but it being worth it after the plan succeeds

One of my favourite things about bkdk is that it just, works in whatever universe you put it in

Like medicine students? Great they get to fight about who can do the best surgery and saves the most lives while everyone around them gossips about how much they're flirting

You can literally just stick them in a store and they'll compete about who makes the most sales with enough unresolved tension to be the centre 'will they/won't they' relationship of the story

You don't wanna follow the rivals-to-lovers route? Great! You got a whole trope of childhood friends to look into there as well whether you're feeling a sweet 'rekindling their friendship' theme or even angsty apology fics it's just got everything rolled into one

BAKUDEKU PACIFIC RIM AU

GUYS I’M AT IT AGAIN THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET IDEAS (follows events of both pacific rim movies bc im trash with a need to show it :D)

-midoriya is a young inventor who’s built his own jeager that can be used by one person. he’s living in this makeshift workshop in this abandoned hanger 

-bakugou is a jeager pilot who quit for an *unknown reason* (is older partner got killed by a kaiju)(YOU DECIDE WHO THO) and is kinda like, just wandering through cities, using his pilot status as a way to get jeager parts and sells them.

-they’re 2 years apart in age (midoriya’s 19 and bakugou’s 21)((NO THAT’S NOT PEDOPHILIA))

-they meet when bakugou is trying to get some people to buy some rare parts when this small green haired guy shows interest in them

-somehow, the guy gets bakugou to believe that someone had messed with some of the parts when he wasn’t looking, and points out the stranger in a crowd, so of course bakugou goes to talk(yell loudly) at the guy, when he realizes..

-green haired guy is running away, and he’s missing some parts that were absolutely there before he left, so his mind makes a really late connection that he just got stolen from

-chase scene(tm)

-they end up at midoriya’s abandoned hanger and bakugou is like��“????dang it lost him” 

-he decides to take a look around (the hanger has a lot of newspaper clippings of old jeagers and their pilots) and discover’s midoriya’s working space and his jeager

-midoriya does a “surprise mother fer” but gets punched right in the face (that’s a black eye for ya)

-bakugou demands that midoriya sell the jeager to him, but mido aint having it, and tries to hit bakugou, but of course gets punched right in the shoulder and so midoriya is like “okay jeez i’ll stay down for a bit”

-it’s a very long slow burn, but they end up saving the entire world from the kaiju and everything is fine in the end because i would hate to make myself suffer and kill someone off ((SIDE NOTE: IT TAKES A LIL BIT OF A WHILE FOR MIDORIYA TO DRIFT BECAUSE HIS PARENTS WERE EATEN BY A KAIJU AND HE’S SCARRED 4 LIFE BC OF THAT))

what do you think of katsudeku pacific rim au? 👀 i personally think that it would be very interesting—it’s highkey implied in canon that they only open up with each other (despite the way they do it (esp in kacchan’s case) is unconventional) so imagine the scenario: theres no other person who is drift compatible with kacchan except deku and vice versa, but heres the thing, they never try it together because *insert the canon ex childhood friends, kacchan feels guilty for what hes done etc*

I think it’s a fascinating AU.

Pacific Rim is one of those films that greatly disappointed me because of the incredibly fun premise, atmosphere, and aesthetics. But, the characters were about as interesting as a sheet of sandpaper covered in cardboard, and their chemistry as compatible pilots in the jaegers made even less sense.

HOWEVER. 

As I stated before, the IDEA of Pacific Rim is ingenious. I love, LOVE, the universe and the ideas and the concept art, and even the idea on paper just screams a perfect balance of fun, insane, intelligent, badass, cyberpunk/steampunk and gorgeous.

I think a KatsuDeku (or KilluGon, honestly – it could be fascinating portrayed in both dynamics, but more so with KatsuDeku because of the extreme tension and more intense [read: volatile] dynamic) Pacific Rim AU would be pretty fucking awesome.

So, yeah. I would read that and be extremely jealous and admirable of the person who will eventually create. (I know you’re out there!)
