At the Seashore
Tech X F!Reader
word count: 1.9k

A trip to the beach was well needed amount the Batch but thrown out of his comfort, Tech is not best pleased. So what can you do to help and will some feelings be shared?
warnings: safe for work, female reader, friends to lovers, interrupting and brotherly bickerings but mostly fluff đ
authors note: thank you for another request darling! Sorry for the wait and enjoy đ¤
Under the scorching sun and with the soft white sand beneath your toes, you recline on the sunbed, savoring the serene sound of tropical waves caressing the shore. But amidst this idyllic scene, the unmistakable sounds of Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, and Wrecker engaged in bickering pierces the tranquility. And your brief moment of peace.
Scarcely two minutes into your well-deserved relaxation, your name resonates through the air. Despite your initial attempt to feign ignorance as if you didnât hear them, you can't escape the shadow cast over you. With a deep sigh, you lift your shades to rest on your forehead, and your gaze meets Tech's. You tilt your head up. "Is there a problem?"
"Wrecker insists on digging a hole," Tech replies matter-of-factly.
You blink in response. "And?"
"I fail to discern the merit of excavating sand," Tech states plainly. It's obvious that Tech, out of his element at the beach, struggles to grasp the essence of relaxation and enjoyment. He's far removed from his usual domain of gadgets and intricate machinery, unaccustomed to the simple pleasures of leisure.
You offer a reassuring smile. "It's just a bit of fun, Tech." You slip your shades back over your eyes, reclining once more with your arms outstretched beneath your head. "Why don't you try building a sandcastle or something?" You gesture dismissively, but Tech responds with a disdainful scoff.
"That would be a squandering of my skills and time," he retorts, folding his arms across his chest and surveying the beach for something, anything that might pique his interest. Yet, it appears that nothing does.
With Tech's persistent presence and the likelihood of having little time for relaxation, you decide to make the best of the situation by involving him. Sitting up, you ponder for a moment and then propose, "How about a swim?"
As you look Tech over, you notice he's wearing swimming trunks and has begrudgingly left his usual attire behind. It's a rare sight to see him out of his usual Tech gear, and you appreciate the change, even if his expression lacks enthusiasm. "Perhaps," he replies, "although swimming does not particularly interest me either."
Determined to find an activity that suits both of you, you stand up, slip on your sandals, and throw on a beach shirt over your swimsuit. You beckon for Tech to follow.
âWhere are we going?â
"You'll see. If swimming, digging holes, or building sandcastles don't appeal to you, maybe this will be more to your liking."
Tech watches you with intrigue as you walk off, stepping over Wreckers hole that he was starting to dig with Hunter all the while Crosshair lazed on the sand with not a care in the world. But, Tech follows.
On the way, you both made small talk. You and Tech got on well but not to the point where conversations naturally flowed. Usually your chats are to do with battle plans and what he needed you to get when you offered to do supply runs. So, it surprised you a little when he seemed genuinely interested in how you were and finding things lately.
The lively chatter however dwindles as your destination comes into view.
Before you, a rocky beach stretches out, and as you stand, hands on hips, your initial excitement wanes upon witnessing Tech's thoroughly unimpressed expression. "What's wrong?"
"You've brought us to yet another beach," Tech observes flatly.
"Yeah, but this one's different. It's got rocks," you point out, hoping to pique his interest.
Tech adjusts his goggles and gives you a skeptical look. "And you believe this would be more beneficial for me?"
Exasperated, you seize Tech's hand before he can protest and pull him forward. Your footsteps crunch against the scattered stones, shells, and pebbles littering the beach's southern side.
"There's a lot you can discover among these rocks," you explain, stooping to pick up a rock and handing it to him.
Tech remains unconvinced. "I'm acquainted with the properties of most rocks and stones, but I fail to see the amusement or fascination in this," he remarks. However, noticing your hand still held by his own, he swiftly apologises after you ask for your hand back and releases it, displaying a faintly bashful expression that you decide to overlook as you move forward. Just for now.
Undeterred, you pick up another, slightly larger rock, and with a gesture, ask for the rock again.
After he promptly releases it, you manage to crack the rock open against another, revealing its inner properties. "See?" you say, hoping to spark his curiosity. "Can you identify what this is?" You point to the intricate details within.
Tech examines it closely, his interest visibly piqued. "I'm not entirely certain⌠I've never encountered anything like this before."
Encouraged by his intrigue, you gesture toward the expanse of rocks around you. "Well, there are many more to explore and learn about. I assume you brought your datapad with you?"
He responds with a subtle scoff, reaching into his trunk shorts' pocket and producing the datapad with a casual wave. "I never go anywhere without it."
As hours pass, a part of you yearns to return to the sandy shores and witness the inevitable impressive hole Wrecker has surely dug by now. However, another part relishes the quiet moments spent alone with Tech.
After each exploration of a rock or stone, Tech approaches you, offering detailed insights gleaned from thorough scans. It proves to be surprisingly informative and captivating.
While you are examining some shells, a glistening object catches your eye. Crouching down, you sift through coarse sand, shells and pebbles until you uncover a beautiful jewel.
"Looks like you have found a pearl," Tech comments from behind you, momentarily startling you. He crouches beside you and scans the pearl with his device. "A valuable one, indeed."
"Really?" you ask, surprised, twirling the pearl in your palm. "It's so pretty."
"And so are you."
"What?" you inquire, caught off guard.
"Hm?" Tech turns to you, wide-eyed, realising the compliment slipped effortlessly from his mouth.
You gaze at him, equally surprised, but a grin lights up your eyes as you know Tech often spoke aloud regardless of anything and was not one to tell fibs. "You just said I'm pretty."
Tech inhales deeply, his gaze momentarily averted as he navigates through his whirlwind of thoughts, considering whether to retract his words. Yet, he questions why he should. "I suppose I did," he admits, clearing his throat and glancing between you, the pearl, and his device. "Because it is true."
Your heart flutters, genuinely touched by his sincerity. It's been a while since anyone has offered such a compliment, and today, you find yourself leaning a bit more emotionally towards Tech. "Thank you," you reply softly, maintaining eye contact, "I think you're pretty handsome too."
Behind his yellow-tinted goggles, Tech's eyes widen, a shallow breath escaping his lips. "You don't need to say that just because I did."
"But I genuinely mean it," you affirm, and as Tech meets your gaze again, an almost imperceptible force draws you both closer.
Suddenly, the crashing waves become distant as your focus narrows to him, noticing the subtle way his eyes trace the contours of your lips.
In that sudden and somewhat surreal moment, as both of you lean in closer, the warmth of Tech's breath brushes against your face untilâ
"What are you two doing?"
Startled, you both quickly pull away, straightening up as Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair approach across the pebbled shore. Your hands tremble slightly, and Tech appears a bit perturbed by the sudden interruption, finding it challenging to meet your gaze.
"We found a pearl. Or rather, she found a pearl," Tech states nonchalantly, gesturing towards you while burying himself in his datapad once more. You're grateful for his understated response. You didnât want the others to catch on to what just transpiredâor what could have transpired, for that matter.
As Wrecker enthusiastically invites everyone to check out his hole, he slings his arm around your shoulder, drawing you into a side hug to inspect the treasure in your hand. "Is that it?" he asks, pointing at the small bead, earning a playful eye roll from you.
"The hole isn't that impressive, Wrecker," Crosshair comments with folded arms, provoking a snide response from Hunter.
"Bet if you made that hole, you wouldn't be saying that," Hunter retorts with a smirk before turning his attention to the pearl in your hand. "Huh, is it valuable, Tech? We could sell it."
Your heart sinks at Hunter's words but youâre not naive enough to understand why he would be interested in getting it sold. The GAR isnât paying all too well recently so some extra credits would go a long way.
Tech, understanding the potential financial strain on the group, acknowledges the pearl's value. "Yes, it is rather valuable," he confirms, tucking away his datapad as he joins you and Hunter. However, as he looks at you, he can't ignore the silent plea in your eyes. "But only to very rare sellers. It's best to put it back where it came from."
Hunter scrutinises Tech for a moment, glancing between you two. You make a conscious effort to avoid eye contact, attempting to keep your heartbeat steady so he didnât sense it.
"Very well," Hunter concedes, though a hint of skepticism lingers. "Are you two done here? We should start heading back to the ship."
"Yeah, we've had a good day. Even Crosshair," you tease, earning a rare chuckle from the usually stoic sniper. "And I want to check out the hole Wrecker dug anyway."
As the others begin to walk back, Tech nods to Hunter, signaling their imminent departure. The weighty unspoken tension between you and Tech lingers in the air, a thick reminder of the almost-kiss and Tech's choice to lie for your sake.
Silent, the two of you walk side by side, both seemingly on the verge of saying something. "Do you still have the pearl?" Tech breaks the silence, prompting you to halt and examine the pearl resting in your palm.
"Yeah. Do you want it?" You offer it to him, extending your hand. With the gentlest touch, he closes his hand over yours, folding your fingers to conceal the pearl within your grasp.
"You should keep it. You gave me something to focus on today," Tech remarks, a small, sweet smile gracing his lips. "I appreciate the effort you put in."
"And I have to thank you for not letting Hunter sell it⌠itâll be a good reminder of today.â
Tech releases a breath he didn't realise he was holding, stealing a glance at the rhythmic crash of the soft waves. A surge of sudden courage propels him to voice what he had been contemplating. "Though I do believe the day would have ended better ifâŚ"
You observe him closely, your heart racing, sensing his unspoken desire. "If what?" you gently urge him on.
"If we did kiss," he blurts out, taken aback by his own admission. But the emotions he's been harboring are too potent to ignore.
You chew on your lip, feeling the shy but undeniable urge to heed Tech's request.
Slowly, you lift a hand to his cheek, leaning in as your lips meet his. He responds, arms wrapping instinctively around you, pulling you close. Heâs timid but eases into the kiss like an expert.
You didnât even care if the others turned around and saw, it was just the perfect end to a good day.

(The Bad Batch) How He Is with His Newborn Baby
Hunter: He adores them and spends a lot of time holding them. Hunter is also really big on the whole skin-to-skin contact, so it becomes a common thing to see him walking around shirtless with the baby cradled snugly in one arm. He gets pretty good at performing tasks around the home with the baby. He's enraptured by the little one, but also very attentive to your needs. Hunter makes sure you take the time you need to eat, shower, and just have time to relax every now and then. Literally, any excuse to hold them some more, and he's giving it. He is good at rocking the baby in such a way that they fall asleep instantly in his arms.
Wrecker: The baby has him wrapped around their tiny finger already. He's already telling them how much he loves them and how proud he is. Wrecker also just spends time telling them all the fun things they're going to do together when they're old enough to walk, talk, etc. He is so unbelievably gentle and sweet with the little one in general, and also of course with you. He'll randomly stare at you and tell you how beautiful you are and what a good job you're doing.
Tech: This baby is not at the point where they can retain any information yet, but Tech spends plenty of time just talking to them. He talks about anything his mind can conjure up. The baby becomes so accustomed to the sound of his voice that it has quite the soothing effect. Additionally, Tech is very quick to pick up on the baby's cycle of needs. It gets to the point where they cry, and he can glance at his chrono and pinpoint exactly what they need according to the little schedule he's created. He also regularly checks the baby's weight, vitals, to make sure they're in good health. From time to time he voices yet again how fascinating the miracle of birth is and how proud he is of you, also checking your health.
Echo: Spends the first few weeks only holding the baby when sitting down. He can't get over how fragile they are, and he just sits there and stares at them as long as he can in amazement and adoration before they wake up from their nap or fuss about something they need. When the baby bursts into a fit of wails, he goes into a bit of a panic mode worrying about what's wrong. Eventually, he gets more comfortable and gets used to the idea that the baby is just communicating a need. It doesn't take long for him to become a professional dad. He gets pretty organized with the diaper bag and supplies so that he can just pull out whatever the baby needs at the drop of a hat.
Crosshair: He spends a good while just quietly holding the baby in his arms and watching them. Internally, he thinks they're absolutely precious and realizes he loves them so much. He already knew he'd love them, but he didn't realize it would feel like this. The baby is heart-wrenchingly cute, and he'd do anything to protect them. You come to find that he becomes more vocal, telling the baby in a sort of Crosshair-style sarcasm that they need to get their act together every time he has to handle a diaper change, feeding, etc. He's up with you at any hour day or night to help with the baby without a complaint, and regularly makes sure you're taking care of yourself also.

Two Faces

Word Count: 11k Pairing: fem!reader x Bad Batch, light Tech nods Warnings: nada except light violence. Training, some fluff, and general fun Summary: When your sister becomes a senator, you decide to join her guard to protect her. Your mother sends you to train on Kamino as backlash. You are paired with Clone Force 99 under the guise of a regular trooper. Encountering you outside of uniform they mistake you for your sister. It is a delicate situation and you have to play your cards carefully.
This started out as a request for the guys getting jealous of you undercover and here I am. When I tell you this was SO FUN to write but took SO LONG. If y'all like imma make it a part 2.
Edit; you wanted it so here it is Two Faces pt 2
âYou want to be a foot soldier.â Your mother snarled down her nose. She was a tall woman, taller than you at least, and the governor of your planet. She waved a slender dismissive hand. âThen be a foot soldier.â
Face neutral, you stood before her in the white armor of a clone trooper. You held the helmet with both hands and a white knuckle grip. This wasnât exactly what you had in mind when you told your mother you wanted to join your sisterâs guard
From your motherâs right your sister stood wringing her hands together. She stood at your height with a face that mirrored your own. Often you were mistaken as twins. Only a few years older than you and already she was the senator for your planet -- the perfect example of what you should have been. Despite everything, the two of you were extremely close.
Concern ate her alive as she watched on. She opened her mouth, but your motherâs hand splayed out in front of her face, cutting off your sisterâs voice and view of you.
Continuing to stare you down, your motherâs mouth twisted into her nose. Your family practically bred politicians and that was never your path. If the two of you agreed on nothing else it was that you were no politician.
When your sister was elected as Senator, you knew if you were trained you could be in her guard and keep her safe. It was a decision you were proud of and one that sealed your fate in the eyes of your mother. You would be of no use to her. She heard your wish and wanted to make sure you fully regretted it.
Rolling her eyes away from you, your mother turned her attention to a Kaminoan by her other side. As the leaders of two allied planets, your mother and Lama Su maintained a close relationship. At least close enough to call in favors.
âThank you, Prime Minister, for this opportunity.â Your motherâs disgust faded into a pleasant smile. âAlthough, I worry she may damage the reputation of your clone troopers.â
The Kaminoan shifted his gaze to you. In near boredom he said, âYou do realize she is liable to die?â Settling his hands in front of him, he turned back to your mother.Â
She scoffed, the idea of no concern to her. âShe made her choice. Should that come to pass, Kamino will not be held responsible.â They spoke of you as if you werenât even present. âBut, do make sure they donât take it easy on her.â
They. An âunorthodoxâ squadron of clones you would be paired with.
Your mother said your name, her tone sharp enough to straighten your back. Her head tilted back, the crimp in her lip returning. âIf it is discovered that my daughter is beneath that armor, forget ever coming home.â She muttered something to your sister and, in unison, they made for the door.Â
Your sister managed one last glance at you before the Kaminoan door swirled open and your mother shoved her through. Your heart sank as the giant white doors shut behind the women.
What if you never saw your sister again?
Alone with Lama Su, the bright, sterile room began to strain your eyes. The unnatural ambience of the room was enough to unsettle you without the addition of the Kaminoanâs cold stare. With slow fluidity, he fully turned towards you. His eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly. âThe modified armor will hide your identity. All you have to do is follow orders.â Lama Su said in his smooth, detached voice. He gestured a long finger towards you. âPut on your helmet, do not remove it in front of others, and remain silent. Your family may tolerate embarrassment, but I will not endure it here.â
Under his cold stare, you lifted the helmet and sealed it over your head. Your eyes had barely adjusted to the restricted line of sight when the doors hissed opened again.
Where your mother and sister had left, five men strode in. Their armor was mismatched in shape and color, but there was some vein shared between them. It took you a moment until your eyes widened and the gears finally turned. These were the clones!
You were no stranger to clones. The Republic had dispatched a group of troopers to your planet as a show of good faith and alliance, although you wondered at times if your family fully reciprocated that sentiment. That said, these men were unlike any clones youâd seen.Â
Their appearances were as mismatched as their armor. Your attention immediately drifted to a behemoth of a man towering over his cohorts and obviously blinded in his left eye. Standing shorter than the rest, one man sported a tattoo covering half his face. Two of them stood at the same height, one with goggles and the other with silver hair. The fifth man looked more akin to a standard clone than the rest, yet his complexion was blanched and he was outfitted with cybernetic prosthetics. Â
They were the most mesmerizing things youâd ever seen. And none of them spared even a glance in your direction.
Resisting the urge to look to the Kaminoan for clarification, you kept your eyes forward and did your best to look at attention.
âClone Force 99, welcome.â Lama Su took a smooth step forward and swept a hand in your direction. Still, their eyes remained trained on the Prime Minister. âThis promising trooper is being assigned to your squad for training. While their designation number is of no concern to you, you may refer to your new addition as âPhi.ââ
Phi. A word you recognized as meaning nothing.
A pale hand landed gently on your shoulder, finally dragging Clone Force 99âs collective attention to you. Even through the armor, Lama Suâs touch made your skin crawl. The urge to bite settled between your teeth and the intensity of his stare did nothing to dissuade that.
His next words came across as almost proud. âI trust you will find the skills of this soldier to be exemplary, possibly even to surpass standard clone trooper protocol. It has been decided that integrating with your unit will provide... a most beneficial learning environment for all.â
The praise threw you off until you noticed the change in the squadâs expressions. Something in Lama Suâs words did not sit well with them. In particular, the tall silver-haired clone did nothing to hide his annoyance. Whatever it was, the undue praise clearly sealed your fate in some way. His sharp glance alone indicated that the undue praise had somehow sealed your fateâa fate Lama Su had very intentionally engineered.
âTraining will begin immediately.â Lama Su said. âProceed to the training facilities to begin. You have your orders. You are dismissed.â
Clone Force 99 wasted no time in filing out of the room, offering no introductions or even a glance to see if you followed. Their dismissal was clear; you were an outsider, not worthy of their camaraderie. Hurrying after them, the quiet of the corridor seemed to amplify the shifting of armor and footsteps.
"Just our luck!" His voice boomed, echoing off the walls. "Why do we get stuck with a reg?" He threw a glance over his shoulder, his good eye scanning you with disdain.
Reg? The term echoed in your mind, a label you didnât yet understand.
The cybernetic clone fell back beside you. âThe question is: what did you do to get stuck with us?â His tone wasn't unkind, merely curious, probing.
Instinctively, your mouth opened to respond, but Lama Suâs directive flashed in your mindâDo not speak in front of others. Clamping your mouth shut, you turned your gaze forward again, grateful for the helmetâs limited field of vision that spared you from seeing their reactions. You did see the way Crosshair's eyes narrowed, it was safe to assume your silence hadnât helped matters.
Adjusting to the weight of your gear seemed trivial compared to the weight of maintaining silence.
Sighing, the tattooed man shook his head. âListen,â He said as he stopped and turned. âIf we are stuck together, we might as well get along. Iâm Hunter.â
He gestured to the others as they continued walking. "Thatâs Wrecker," pointing to the large man, "Echo," indicating the cyborg, "Tech," nodding towards the one with goggles, and lastly, "And Crosshair," with a tilt of his head toward the silver-haired clone who had kept his distance.
They all waited for your addition, but it didnât come and your silence remained. From behind your helmet you cringed. This was shaping up to be a terrible idea. You held your breath, bracing for the uncomfortable journey ahead.Â
Your silence only fueled Crosshairâs anger. His gaze narrowed, head cocked like a raptor eyeing prey. "Too good to speak to us?" His lip curled in a familiar, cruel sneer that reminded you of your mother.Â
Noticing Crosshair had an actual crosshair tattooed over his right eye you couldnât help the little snort you made, emphasized by your helmetâs voice modulator. You immediately regretted your slip up as Crosshair set his shoulders, head snaking forward. âSomething funny, reg?â The way he said that word was pure venom.
You almost conceded at the guttural sound he made at your continued silence, but before you could react Crosshair cracked his elbow into your helmet. The helmet crashed into your face and pain bloomed across your nose, knocking you down to one knee. Blood trickled from your nostrils, leaving you reeling with doubts and likely a broken nose.
"Crosshair!" Hunter barked. He didn't need to step in further; Crosshair stood back, arms crossed and lips twisted into a smirk of satisfaction.
Echo and Tech shared a glance, Wrecker gave a supportive smile, and Hunter shot Crosshair a sharp, disapproving look before turning his attention back to you. "Get up," he said firmly, "and keep up."
With one last glare from Crosshair, you pushed yourself up to your feet, determined not to show weakness. But as the sharp metallic taste of blood filled your mouth, you couldn't ignore the cold reality of your situation.
They certainly did not take it easy on you and by the end of your first session it was clear to all of you that you were a miserable excuse for a recruit. In the solitude of your room, you finally removed your helmet. In a small mirror you twisted your head, examining the crusted blood and swollen nature of your nose.
A gentle, and painful, touch confirmed your broken nose suspicions. You leaned in for a better look and smiled. It hurt like hell, but at least you made it through your first day.
You looked to a photo of your sister youâd pinned to your mirror. Itâs worth it for her. Giving yourself a nod, you replaced your helmet and headed for the med bay- a trip you were going to frequent.
As you entered the medical wing, the only presence were that of two medical droids floating about and a female Kaminoan. The female swept her head in your direction, slowly blinking as you stood at the entrance. You recognized the Kaminoan as Nala Se. Sheâd given your family a tour of the cloning operations in the past.
She addressed you with a good evening and gestured for you to approach. âI am aware of your identity. You may remove your armor in my presence.â Nala Se said in her ever measured tone. When you still hesitated she added, âThe clones are currently in the canteen.â
Reluctantly, you lifted the helmet from your head, exposing the bruised face underneath. Nala Se observed you quietly, her expression unreadable. âYou should return home.â She suggested. âOur clones are trained from their creation. You will not be able to match their abilities.â
âThatâs not an option now. I either return with training or in a body bag.â
You placed your helmet in a tote at the foot of the medical table and began discarding the rest of the armor in the same fashion. Clad only in your black undersuit, you continued undressing under Nala Se's impassive watch. Her clinical detachment did little to ease the discomfort of the situation
Stripped down to a bandeau and shorts, you climbed onto the examination bed. A droid hovered over you, scanning your body. "Subject exhibits a broken nose and extensive bruising," it reported to Nala Se, who nodded slightly before administering two injectionsâone for pain and another to reduce future bruising.
As the droid tended to your injuries, Nala Se handed you a set of clothes. "There is more than one way to remain hidden," she stated as she unfolded a Kaminoan-style outfitâa set of dark, tight-fitting pants and a long-sleeve shirt, complemented by a light-colored vest with fabric strips cascading down your legs
Youâd no sooner dawned the outfit when the doors slid open again and voices immediately broke the silence.
You froze with your back to the door. Tech's analytical voice floated through the air, "I am merely saying, excess violence will only worsen the situation for all of us."
It was Crosshair who answered with dry amusement. "Speak for yourself," he scoffed.Â
Nala Se held your gaze a moment longer before she looked to the approaching clones. âCT-9902 and CT-9904, what is it that you require?â
Tech spoke up from behind you, "There is a high probability that Crosshair fractured his knuckles during training." You could think of a few instances that couldâve caused that, the bruises across your body serving as evidence.
Swallowing the groan in your throat, you finally faced them. Tech and Crosshair stopped in their tracks both staring at you with some confusion.
âSenator.â Tech offered a nod of respect. His polite tone threw you off balance as he mistook you for your sister. The Kaminoans' medical treatment had indeed worked wonders, hiding your identity well enough to prompt the error.
Crosshair frowned, a toothpick tilting in his mouth.
Tech, noticing Crosshairâs tight expression, nudged his brother. âWe passed her on the way to meet the Prime Minister.â This was enough for the sniper to remove his toothpick and stand a bit straighter.
The immediate respect was a stark contrast to the blows theyâd dealt you all day. Embracing the assumption you smiled graciously despite the stiff feeling in your face. âIt is a pleasure to formally meet you, troopers.â You rounded the table to stand before them.
Without your gear, you realized just how much taller they were. And without the restrictive view of your helmet, you could fully appreciate how striking they were. They stood with practiced military bearing, radiating strength and a sense of purpose that matched their formidable presence.
Absolutely breathtaking, and in a much different way than when they'd been knocking the wind out of you earlier.
âThe honor is ours, Senator.â Tech said. His eyes searched your face, for what you werenât certain.Though having his eyes on any part of you was a lovely sensation. He paused momentarily, but found your eyes again.Â
Crosshair kept his gaze steady as he studied you, lending some clarity to your earlier question. "What brings a senator down to the med bay? Surely not curiosity."
Holding your composure, you lied, âI am⌠personally interested in the development and progress of the valiant men keeping our galaxy safe.â You took the opportunity to circle the two men while they remained still and eyes forward. The men had equally long legs and cinched waists that were positively sinful. This view of them was certainly an upgrade, igniting an idea in you.
âIn fact,â You polished a smile as you came back to their fronts. âIâd be interested in some personal lessons from esteemed men such as yourselves.âÂ
Surprise lifted Techâs eyebrows and pulled the corner of Crosshairâs lip up.Â
âMistress Se mentioned your squad is already undertaking the training of a new recruit.â Their expressions dulled at the reminder. âWhatâs a few extra morning sessions with a mere Senator?â
Nala Se, observing the exchange from the background, stepped forward to say, "That can be arranged for the morning after next. For now, the senator has matters to attend to. CT-9904, please proceed with your treatment."
Tech offered another polite nod before leading Crosshair to the medical equipment. As they moved away, you exhaled, glancing at Nala Se, who gave you an almost imperceptible nod of approval.
The following morning, back in your armor, you walked into the training room and the middle of Clone Force 99âs conversation.
Wrecker was throwing his head around, moaning about something you couldn't quite catch. â-well, why didnât I see her?â
âYou did, Wrecker.â Tech said in a flat, exasperated breath. âIf only in passing.â
âBut why would a senator want to watch us train?â Echo shook his head in confusion.
Tech adjusted his goggles. âCorrection: she wants to train with us.â
As he twirled a knife between his fingers, Hunter asked, âThen why would a senator want to train with clones?â
âDoes it matter?â Crosshair drawled from his perch on a rectangular obstacle with a knee pulled up.. âIf the little princess wants our hands on her, who are we to deny?â
Little princess. Your mind stuttered at the words while your body visibly jerked at them. The squadron cut their conversation short and looked to you. The amusement between them quickly faded, yet even this attention had heat crawling through you.
âLetâs get this over with.â Hunter gruffed while putting on his helmet. The rest followed suit and training began.
The session was as brutal as the day prior, starting with sparring and finishing with blaster drills. You didnât do much better than the day prior, but you were proud to have left with no new fractures. By the next morning you could barely leave bed.
But âlittle princessâ was enough to push you up.
You arrived at the training room early. It was much smaller than the usual arenas, scattered with mannequins instead of physical obstacles. You traded your armor for a form-fitting suit similar to the blacks troopers wore. Without a helmet, you felt exposedâbut exhilarated.
When the doors slid open, your pulse quickened. With composure your mother would admire, you smoothed your expression and smiled. âNice of you boys to join me.â
A small smirk lifted Hunterâs lips as he regarded you. âSenator.â he greeted, his gaze sweeping over your form. The word almost caused your smile to falter, reminding you of the misconception they were under.Â
They made their introductions before Hunter, hand at his hip, gestured for you to advance. âYou sure youâre ready for this?â
The soreness that wracked your body protested when you squared your shoulders. âI was born ready.â Hopefully your feigned confidence won them over.
The way the leaderâs head dipped with a small laugh said it did. Even from a distance, the sound reverberated through you to your core.
âDonât worry,â Wreckerâs large hand clapped down on your shoulder and right onto an unseen bruise. âWeâll take it easy on ya!â
Crosshair rolled a toothpick between his lips. âEasyâs not our style, Wrecker.â You met his still skeptical stare, not backing down from the challenge.
âI can handle it.â
He snorted, flicked away his toothpick, and strode over to you. Leaning in he said in a low, snippy voice, âBetter keep up, princess.â
As much as the nickname heated your blood, you maintained your smile, determined to earn their respect. âI intend to.â You said in an equally low, taunting tone.
From the very beginning, their training style was a complete turn around compared to the borderline abuse you endured while in armor.
Hunter set the pace, showing you rapid movements to prove your reflexes. When a moment of exhaustion hit and you noticeably slowed, Hunter teased, âI thought you said youâd keep up.â
Sagging your shoulders, you rolled back your head with a laugh. âAlright, maybe I wasnât born for this.â
âWe sure were.â Wrecker laughed and took over, launching into instruction about utilizing your body weight against an opponent. He demonstrated on Crosshair, who loudly hissed in protest. Wrecker put a shoulder into Crosshairâs abdomen and tossed him over his shoulder like a sandbag.Â
Crosshair struggled against his brotherâs hold, until he landed safely on the ground. He snarled at Wrecker, then caught the amused smile tugging at your lips. With a grunt of annoyance, he averted his gaze and casually placed a toothpick back between his lips, feigning indifference.
âCâmon, now you try,â Wrecker encouraged as you stepped close. He used his massive hands to reposition your torso into a bent over position. âLike this, see? You gotta feel the power through your whole body!â His bubbly enthusiasm made it hard to take the movement seriously.
His demeanor wasnât your only distraction. Despite your motherâs disregard for you, as the daughter of a politician, people were always careful with you. Between their ruthless training of you as âPhiâ and their gentle instruction as a âSenator,â you were finding them more and more captivating.
Their presence was intoxicating.
Tech used a more methodical style of instruction. His hands deftly maneuvered your body into a slightly different form. âOptimal form is crucial,â he explained. His fingers lingered just a moment too long on your spine, sending an unexpected shiver down your back. With one hand he pressed your bruised shoulder lower.
Your teeth clenched against the pain, a quiet whine making its way past your lips. Tech immediately released his hand, observing you with a tilted glance. âInteresting,â he whispered with curiosity that pulled your eyes to his. Behind those brown eyes of his, something passed through. He blinked once, twice, and stepped back.
The moment went unnoticed as Echo chimed in. âThrow your weight behind it and aim for his diaphragm.â Wrecker tried to chuckle, but you cut him off by doing just that. Despite your best efforts, he didnât even flinch. A chorus of chuckles erupted around you, but it felt good to join their lighthearted banter instead of getting the kriff kicked out of you.
The training continued until you were slick with sweat. You were exhausted, sure, but the exhilaration you felt in the beginning only grew with every brush with the men.
Though throughout the trading, Crosshair paid the experience little interest. He meandered the outskirts of the room, only chiming in when you had a misstep. Finally, winded but grinning, you let yourself sink to the floor. Crosshair sauntered over, standing behind you as he shifted his weight onto one foot.
His weight shifted onto one foot and postured over you. âLooks like what they say about senators is true.â He snorted, but the bite his voice carried when you were Phi was missing.
You leaned back, hands propped behind you, and squinted up at him. âAnd whatâs that?â
His keen eyes scanned you, briefly pausing on your heaving chest before meeting your gaze again. âYouâre all talk.â
Crosshair maintained a smug expression while his brothers fell silent, their attention fixed on the two of you. For the first time since training began, the ache in your nose surfaced in your mind. The memory of Crosshair's initial blow hung in the air as you carefully considered the situation, your tongue slipping over your teeth. He didn't realize it, but as you sat there inches from his feet, he was perched right within your reach. His guard was down, dismissing you as a non-threat.
The backhanded comment about Senator inaction was the deciding factor in your next move. You could always tolerate insults aimed at you. The rough training was even tolerable if it meant a means to your purpose.Â
Calling out a senatorâs - your sisterâs - resolve, however, was a step too far.
In one swift motion, you fell back, hooked an arm around his ankle, and yanked his foot out from under him. Crosshair's arms swung through the air, desperately trying to catch his balance, but he tumbled to the ground with a thud, a gasp of air forced from his lungs. Lounging back on one elbow, you kept his ankle cradled firmly in your arm.
The rest of Clone Force 99 tried - and failed - to stifle their laughter. Eventually, they gave him the same round of laughter you received. Crosshair shoved up on his elbows with a scowl. The twitch in his lip betrayed the amusement nipping at him. Grunting with a roll of his eyes, he pushed you off his foot. âLucky shot.â
You raised your eyebrows with a satisfied hum, then let yourself fall back onto the training mat. As you lay there, staring up at the bright ceiling and still catching your breath with a laugh lingering on your tongue, you felt an unfamiliar sensationâhappiness.
All your life, youâd been chasing after your sister, constantly seeking your family's approval. You had never been allowed to simply exist or pursue anything for yourself.
But laying there, beaten and exhausted, you felt strangely good.
Wreckerâs face appeared above you with a lopsided smile. He extended a hand as he said, âNow, whereâd you learn to do that?â
Groaning, you accepted his hand and he lifted you with ease. âIt comes with having a sister,â you replied. The mention of your sister brought a bubble of anxiety to the surface and Lama Suâs warning pricked you.
âHa! Just like us then.â With his hand still clasping yours, Wrecker steadied you by gently pressing his other hand against the small of your back.
Your face heated, though it was already flushed from training, and you quickly cleared your throat, stepping out of his grasp. Brushing off imaginary dust from your thighs, did your best to sound casua. âIâm curious,â you said, eager to switch topics, âhowâs training that trooper Nala Se told me about?â
Just like mentioning your sister had done to you, bringing up the trainee cast a shadow over the troopersâ mood, which only heightened your anxiety.
âDonât remind us.â Wrecker gruffed. âItâs bad enough weâre missing out on missions and weâre stuck with a reg.â
âReg?â You repeated.
Echo sighed with exasperation. âRegular clone.â The way you muddled your face prompted the others to elaborate on their own differences. Though you knew Clone Force 99 was different, you hadnât realized the full extent until now. You understood now why Echo was the least brutal in his training. With his origins as a regular clone, he sympathized.
Lama Suâs conversation with them finally made sense. He was stoking a fire meant to burn you out.Â
You laughed nervously, âSurely it canât be that bad.â
Hunter rubbed the bridge of his nose, dreading the afternoon ahead. âTrust us, youâre showing more potential than this guy.âÂ
They all launched into a conversation about the trainee's abysmal performance, not realizing the irony. Meanwhile, Tech stood back, focused on his datapad, occasionally looking up at the group- at you.
Walking away from the group, you tried to peek at his screen. âWhat are you looking at?â
Tech glanced up at you and quickly tucked the device away. âI was reading up on some political matters.â He adjusted his goggles and glanced at his brothers still chatting away. âNothing you are not already appraised of.â
Mouthing an âohâ you followed his gaze t back to the others. They looked so different now, discussing the reg amongst them, than they did just moments ago. âWhy exactly are you here?â Tech questioned, you could feel his attention on you.
Not bothering to meet Techâs stare, you answered without hesitation. âTo make a difference the only way I can.â
From that point on, a cycle began. Every morning they trained you as the Senator and every afternoon you received a beating as Phi.Â
Knowing their distaste for Phi was completely unrelated to you may have eased your anxiety but it didnât make your training any easier.
That came with your mornings with Clone Force 99 and, on occasion, an even meeting.
The first time you ran into them outside of training happened when youâd snuck off to comm your sister. After stealing a holocom from the medical facility, you wandered the corridors for a few nights to find the best place to reach her. You always worried about an unexpected visitor in your barrack room. Wrapped in a cloak, you huddled beside a viewport, lost in thought as you stared at the device in your hands.
It had been the longest stretch youâd gone without speaking to your sister. Nerves kept your fingers hovering over the controls, practicing how you'd greet her, when suddenly your vision went dark. Your hands dropped the holocom in surprise, but it never hit the ground.Â
âLook who we found!â Wreckerâs boisterous voice boomed, warm and close, as his large form pressed up behind you.
Letting out a startled breath, you gently pulled his hands away from your eyes. Standing before you were Hunter and Crosshair, both of whom looked amused.
Hunter practically sauntered forward as he offered you the holocom back. "Caught you," he teased, handing the holocom back to you with a sly grin. His eyes dipped as your fingers brushed against his, he shot a question with smirk at you. âWhat are you doing out here so late?â
You clutched the device a bit more securely and shrugged. "Just needed a quiet spot to contact my sister," you admitted.
Crosshair raised an eyebrow, plucking the toothpick from his mouth and pointing it at you. "And you chose the coldest corridor on Kamino for your heartfelt chat?" he was unconvinced.
You spun the device nervously in your hands. âI didnât think anyone would be out at this time.â
The silver haired clone gave a low chuckle, twirling the toothpick between his fingers. "Well, don't let us interrupt your cozy little conversation.â
âWeâre headed to the canteen for a bite to eat, you should come.â Wrecker suggested, resting his hands on your shoulder.
Hunter nodded in agreement. "Youâre right about one thing - itâs quieter this time of night. Less regs to get in the way."
Wrecker grinned wide and leaned in closer, giving you a gentle shake as his presence nudged you forward. "Besides, it's warmer there!"
You certainly felt warmer, but not just from the prospect of a heated room. Glancing down at the holocom, you wondered if your sister was even awake. Unable to resist their invite, you stashed the device away and smiled. âAlright, why not? Lead the way.â
âYes, maâam.â Crosshair said in a way that made you roll your eyes. He could make anything sound sarcastic.
Joining them turned out to be a worthy trade. Crosshair and Hunter sat across from you and Wrecker. Wrecker made a habit of pushing into your space, offering bites of his favorite bits, while Crosshair and Hunter discussed your upcoming training sessions as Phiâa topic you found less than thrilling. Instead, you chose to bask in Wreckerâs warm attention.
Despite his high energy and monstrous strength, Wrecker proved to be the most gentle of the batch. Always the first to help you to your feet or catch you when you stumbled. His touch light, the calluses of his hands only ever brushing you. The skinship was a new experience for you, but one you wanted more of each time.
After your last bite of a chocolate morsel, Wrecker caught your chin between his thumb and forefinger. He rubbed a thumb over the corner of your mouth, dragging your lip down with the pressure of his touch.
âGot a little somethinâ there,â Wrecker chuckled, showing you the smear of chocolate on his thumb. âGuess Iâm not the only messy eater âround here.â His smile crinkled his eyes as he dipped his thumb into his mouth to suck off the sweet remnant.
The casual intimacy of the gesture wasnât lost on you, though it seemed to escape him. He turned back to his plate, completely missing the heat rising to your face. As a soft smile lilted your lips, you shut your eyes and leaned into Wreckerâs form. Surrounded by them, you felt a wave of contentmentâyou could happily spend all your free time like this
Wrecker perked up, his eyes wide and eyebrows raised as he felt your weight against him. He sat stock still for a moment, glancing between you and his brothers. Gradually, he relaxed into your touch and reached an arm around you.
âH-Hey,â he stammered slightly, patting a hand on your hip, âWhatâs all this?â
A foot knocked into yours from beneath the table. Peeking out from under an eyelid, you met Hunterâs lopsided smile and received another gentle tap. âDonât be falling asleep on us. It wouldnât be a good look for us to be carrying your limp body back.â
âIs the little princess tired?â Crosshair added lightly, a rare hint of playfulness in his tone.
Closing your eye once more, you hummed in agreement. Sitting alone with them in a mess hall, sharing a meal and laughing under the harsh lighting, you felt completely at peace.
Your mother had meant this all to be a punishment. She couldnât have imagined that this place, these men, would heal a part of you you hadnât realized was broken. They built you up and their training made you feel strong. They never admitted to it while you were in armor, but from their observations of the Senator you were improving.
Something you showcased one afternoon as Phi. During a drill with dummy droids, you found yourself blindsided by a metallic blow to your back. Another droid seized you by the neck and hurled you about twenty feet, leaving you crumpled on the ground as the simulation abruptly ended.
Still seeing stars, you heard the familiar cadence of Crosshairâs footsteps. âGet up.â Crosshair growled from above you.
Twisting onto your side, you struggled to catch your breath. Crosshairâs helmet angled to the side as he clicked his tongue, shoving his heal into your hip. âI said get up.â He punctuated his words with another kick. The sharp pain instantly boiled up weeks of frustration and pain.
Not a single thought registered with you as you snapped. As fast as a hydrosnake, you lashed out, looped an arm around his ankle and thrashed him back as you had before. This time your training took over.
You didnât stop at holding him by his foot. No, you pulled his leg to the side, opening his hips, and pinned his thigh under your knee. Before he could grab at you, you pressed your torso across his, driving an elbow into the side of his helmet. Your hands clasped behind his bicep, effectively locking him in place.
Crosshair thrashed against you as his free hand hammered into the soft spot between your chest and shoulder plates. With every hit, you tightened your grip on him. His vile threats drowned out the sound of Wreckerâs stomping towards the two of you.Â
A large hand ripped you by the back of your neck, instantly detangling you from the sniper. âNot so tough now, are ya?â Wrecker taunted.
Dangling in the air, your legs kicked and fingers scratched at Wreckerâs fingers. The fingers that otherwise delicately touched you choked you in more ways than one. Crosshair shot up from the ground, ripping off his helmet to expose his seething expression.Â
âWrecker!â Echoâs voice rang out from the sidelines, but his veiled command did little to deescalate the situation.
The sarcastic, teasing Crosshair who interacted with you as a senator was nowhere to be seen. Instead, he whipped a finger at you, a silent but unmistakable threat as he closed in on you.
It was Tech that quickly slid between you, effectively barring Crosshair from getting his hands on you. âCrosshair.â Techâs tone was firm, if not altogether scolding. âYou kicked them while they were incapacitated. Therefore, their actions were justified, while your reaction is not.â
Crosshair shook with rage, eyes burning into you past Tech's shoulder. The silent threat of his pointed finger became a promise.
âWrecker, drop him.â Hunter ordered he yanked Wreckerâs arm down.Â
Wrecker begrudgingly released you, setting you down with a rough thud, but you quickly steadied yourself, brushing off the dust. Your breath was labored, but you didnât falter under Crosshairâs glare. It didnât matter who Crosshair thought you were at this point, he was just being cruel. It fully pissed you off more than anything up to that point. Tension hung in the air, and with each passing second, your urge to snap grew stronger.
Tech stepped aside and Hunterâs stern gaze moved between you and Crosshair. âAre we done?â
Crosshair let out a low growl before reluctantly shoving his helmet back on with a quick twist. You, on the other hand, werenât done and needed to calm down fast.
âYouâll never be worth our time,â Crosshair said with venom. âYou fight like a child.â
That simmering urge burst through. You lunged forward, craned your head back, and bashed the front of your helmet into his. The old wound on your nose flared, but watching Crosshair thrown back and stumbling dulled the pain to an ache.
He shook it off quickly enough and charged you again, narrowly missing as Echo intercepted him.
While you regained your balance, Tech fell in beside you, gently catching you by the forearm. You were too busy wheezing to notice the strangeness in Techâs assisting you as Phi. While you watched Hunter and Echo work to calm Crosshair, Tech brought his head closer, whispering for only you to hear, âDo not antagonize him. Youâve already had one broken nose, letâs not aim for another.â
All of your burning rage cooled in an instant. You slowly looked at the technician, whose eyes watched you intensely from behind his helmet. Something in his gaze drowned out all other sounds around you. He looked at you differently from how the others ever had.
You had no idea how he knew, but the way he looked at you made it clear: Tech knew exactly who you were.
He leaned closer, his voice a low, amused murmur. "It was obvious." Your head jerked back as if to say âhow was it obvious?â
Sensing your immediate tension, he added quickly, "To me, at least. The others donât seem to have noticed." He glanced over his shoulder to ensure Crosshair remained restrained before looking back at you. "We'll manage Crosshair. You should head to the medical facility to have your nose examined."
âTech-â You tried to whisper but Tech cut you off, spinning you towards the exit. You didnât wait for him to tell you again.
You did manage to hear Tech quip, âFor the record, Crosshair, that would be twice now they bested you.â You made sure you were out the door by the time Crosshair turned on his brother.
Tech was right to send you to get checked out. Youâd avoided a broken nose, but the swelling did need attention. You were still in armor when you got back to your room. Dropping down onto a storage tote, you set your helmet between your feet. Elbows on your knees, you sat looking out over the swath of ocean beyond your windows.Â
The steady drum of rain against your window helped soothe your nerves, which had barely eased since you left the training grounds. You sat there for a while, combing through your time on Kamino, searching for any clue as to how Tech figured out who you were. With his keen mind, anything seemed possible, but you still wondered when you slipped up.
The sound of your barrack door opening snapped you out of concentration. You couldnât reach for your helmet fast enough when someone said,âYou need not bother with thatâ
You whipped around, twisting in your spot. Sans helmet and alone, Tech stood in your room. Heâd already seen your face and touched your body, but this felt like you were meeting for the first time.
You slowly stood, picking at your fingertips. âHi,â was all you managed to croak out as the door shut behind him.
It must've been an odd sight, you thought. The face of a senator on the body of a trooper. You snuck a glance at your reflection in the window. The sight was familiar to you now, but you remembered the juxtaposition taking time to get used to. You werenât happy that the first time Tech was seeing you as you, your hair was stuck in a birdâs nest of a bun with crooked hairs jutting out at all angles
Tech said your name and something in your chest lurched at the sound. âIf I am correct,â He said as moved his goggles up his nose. â-And I usually am, that is your real name. Is it not?â He remained standing just at the entrance of your room.
Your lips tucked into your mouth as you nodded slowly, still unsure about what to even say. âHow did you know?â
Upon your admission Tech walked closer, free of the tension you carried. âObservation and deduction.â He explained, stepping around the tote separating you to take you in fully. Unlike when you portrayed Phi or the Senator, you had never noticed him observing you with such explicit curiosity.
Tech circled you, one hand cradling his elbow and the other holding his chin. âI was fairly certain Crosshair broke the trooperâs nose during the initial altercation. When we met in the medical facility, I noticed a distinct mark on your noseâan odd thing for a distinguished guest such as a Senator.â He moved around your right side, his finger gently pressing into your shoulder. âTo confirm my suspicions, I applied pressure to a region I hypothesized would be tender if my assumptions were correct.â
"Your reaction confirmed it," Tech concluded, stepping back to give you space. "It was subtle, but it was enough for me to piece together the truth about your dual identities."
He took a seat on the tote facing the window and pulled out his datapad, tapping away as he continued. âStill, I didnât have an explanation as to why a senator would be here like this. Until you mentioned your sister, which finally prompted me to do a bit of research.â Tech angled his datapad towards you, displaying a news article with a photo of your sister. âI must admit, the resemblance is uncanny. However, with her being accounted for on Coruscant, it would prove impossible for her to be on Kamino.â
He pressed a button and a photo of a stoic family appeared - your parents standing behind you and your sister. You only got a glance in before Tech pulled it back to his face. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the photo. âBesides, while the two of you do share similar features, you are far more⌠captivating.â Tech looked up at you, still standing beside him. âI could never confuse the two of you.â
Your breath hitched at âcaptivating.â No one had ever remotely said that to you. It was always either you could pass for twins or your sister was the more fortunate child. Coming from Tech, such a logical and blunt man, it took your breath away. He saw no point in undue praise or flattery; to him, he was merely stating facts. It melted you.
You lowered yourself next to him, knees turned in his direction. âWhy havenât you told the others?â
Tech thought for a moment, his eyes shifting to the side as he considered your question âI do not know your reason for anonymity, but I respect your decision and will not jeopardize that. Your privacy is your own.â He nodded, pivoting to fully face you. âAnd I find I rather enjoy being the only one to know this about you.â
The tension in your shoulders ebbed, replaced by a fluttering that started in your chest and made breathing a manual task. You caught your reflection again, feeling frustrated that in such a moment you looked so disheveled. You balled your fists tightly enough that your fingernails dug into your palms, embarrassed that he offered such compliments to someone like you.
âWhy are you making such a face?â Tech asked.
You watched yourself a second longer before offering him a sad smile. âI think I know now why you wear those goggles.â
Techâs brows pulled together. âThey alter the way light enters my eye to correct my eyeâs refractive errors.â You sat back, blinking at the explanation, humor coming to your smile. Tech kept a serious face, not understanding the nuances you were attempting. âThey help me see,â He clarified in a flat tone.
You yielded a small laugh, leaning over to tap his knee. âI know, I was trying to say you must need them if you think Iâm the pretty sister.â As soon as the words left your mouth, you realized how mean they sounded. Not just insulting Techâs taste, but fully airing the distaste you held for yourself. Your smile dropped and along with your eyes to the hand still on his knee.
A drop of panic hit your gut as you started pulling your hand away. âIâm sorry, I-â
Tech grabbed your wrist and you couldnât react before he hushed you, âGet down.â He said, pulling you both down to the floor. He ducked his head, pushing yours down and pulling you flush against him in one motion. His hand cupped over your mouth just before you heard the door open. Two sets of footsteps echoed in. Whoever it was, they were too far away for you to get a clear image of them in the windowâs reflection.
You craned your neck, trying to get a look but Tech held you fast.
âHis armor isnât here.â Crosshairâs sharp voice rung out. âThe little snake isnât home.â
Hunter answered with a sigh, âCross, none of us like this but you need to ease up. The sooner we get him trained, the sooner we get rid of him.â The two of them made themselves at home, walking around on a light inspection of your space.
Tech kept you both completely still, staying so silent you werenât sure he was even breathing. Which was impressive considering that between the intruders and being positioned between Techâs legs you were having a hard time regulating your own sounds.
One set of footsteps quieted. âWould you look at that?â Crosshair snarled. âLooks like the reg has a little crush.â The sound of paper snapping told you he found the picture of your sister hanging from your mirror. The level of agitation in his voice made you worry for the next time Crosshair caught you in uniform.
âThat might be why I-â Hunter stopped mid-sentence. You heard footsteps shuffle in place.
âWhat is it?â Crosshair pressed.
A moment passed before Hunter continued. âItâs nothing. We should go. You can play nice later.â Crosshair made a noise of frustration, and the two of them left the room.
As soon as the door shut behind them, Tech eased his grip on you. His arms hung beside you while you instinctively sagged against him in relief. You twisted around to ask, âWhat were they doing in here?â
âMy guess would be that Hunter wanted Crosshair to make amends.â You could see a thought turning over in him. âAnd I would say Hunter either just realized the situation or is on the very cusp of doing so.â
âHow did they-â
âWe have always known which barrack was yours.â Tech answered before you could get the question out. He glanced away momentarily, considering his words carefully. âI advised them early on to leave well enough alone.â
The two of you held each other's gaze for a moment, and Tech's expression softened, becoming more reflective. âI did say I enjoyed being the only one to know your identity,â he murmured. âWhat I neglected to mention is that I took measures to keep it that way.â Gently, he lifted a knuckle to your cheekbone, brushing back a stray hair. The corner of his mouth ticked upwards.
âIt doesnât bother you - not really knowing me?â You asked.
As Tech began to help untangle the two of you from your hiding spot, he responded. âWe may not have had traditional introductions, but I know all that I need to.â You pulled your legs beneath you, reaching out for Tech as he stood. He gripped your hand firmly and pulled you up.
With a slight grunt as he helped you to your feet, Tech continued, âYou are resourceful and brave. These qualities are not just observed; they are proven through your actions and decisions here.â Techâs voice carried a respect and a hint of admiration that felt more personal than his usual factual observations.
âAnd while I may not know every detail of your past or every layer of your personality yet, I understand your coreâyour competence, your strength, and your commitment to your goals. These are the attributes that define you, not just the name you carry or the role you play.â
Tech bent over and plucked your helmet from the floor. âPlus, as a clone, a name doesnât hold a great deal of value for me.â He held the helmet in his hands, He rotated the helmet, examining it before gently handing it back to you. âDoes that answer your question?â
Nodding in slight awe, you gently accepted the helmet and immediately dropped it, opting instead to quickly wrap your arms around his waist. âThank you, Tech.âÂ
Tech stiffened slightly, the rush of adrenaline visible as his posture tightenedâa clear sign of his surprise at the physical closeness. This type of interaction was uncharted territory for him. In the windowâs reflection, he watched the two of you. Your face was tucked into his chest, hidden from view, but he could feel the tremor of your breathing. Unsure of what else to do, Tech lightly touched your head. âO-of course.â
Tech had a myriad of questions for you about your past and your motivations.Holding you in that moment, he decided, was enough. The questions could wait for another day.
The next morning's training session was particularly challenging for you. It was hard to ignore Hunter's scrutinizing gaze. He watched you as if decoding every movement, his eyes sharp and probing. Tech's earlier observations were spot onâHunter was definitely onto something.
For once, you found yourself eagerly awaiting the end of the session. As soon as it was over, you hustled away faster than usual, leaving Clone Force 99 to prepare yourself for that evening. You were going to tell them the whole truth.
After mentally rehearsing several scenarios multiple times, you donned your armor and headed for the training facilities. However, as you stepped out of your room, you nearly collided with Nala Se.Â
She didnât flinch, embodying the typical Kaminoan stillness. Towering above you, she blinked slowly, her gaze piercing. âBefore you go, I must see to your injuries,â Nala Se stated matter-of-factly. Without waiting for your responseâaccustomed to your practiced silenceâshe turned and headed towards the medical wing.
You followed quietly, your mind racing as you pondered which injuries she referred to. Certainly, your nose and the rest of your face still ached from the previous day's exertions, and your torso was a tapestry of bruises, but these were all injuries that had been treated before. Moreover, Nala Se had scarcely crossed your path in recent weeks. Initially, she had helped you avoid detection, but she had not intervened since.
Her sudden appearance was less than comforting.
In the quiet of the medical facility, oddly void of the typical droids, Nala Se motioned to a bed. âHave a seat and remove your helmet.â
You were so preoccupied with thoughts of how your tardiness for training might disrupt your planned conversations that you barely registered her instructions. Nala Se said your name, snapping you back to the present.
Removing your helmet, you looked across the bed at her and realized her gaze was focused past you. It hadnât been her calling your name.
Outside, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and Crosshair were on their way to the training facilities, helmets under their arms, when they noticed the Senator entering one of the medical rooms. Today, you werenât cloaked in your typical attire but wore a robe of deep purple with gold threading, which seemed oddly formal.
Crosshair snorted, âLooks like we need to ease up on our little princess.â
Tech, who had been absorbed in his datapad, looked up. âTo what are you referring?â
âI told you she was actinâ weird.â Wrecker said, more concerned than accusatory, ignoring Techâs question. âShould we do somethinâ?â
Echo, looking to clarify for Tech, gestured with his prosthetic arm. âWe just saw the Senator enter the medical facility. And yes, we should check on her before heading to training.â
Tech paused, processing the information. He knew you well enough to be aware of your usual post-training soreness and kept an eye on the medical records associated with your after-training exams. You hadnât sustained injuries severe enough recently to necessitate a deviation from your normal routine. He buzzed with suspicions and worried over the implications of your unexpected visit to the medical facility at such an unusual time.
âLetâs get this over with.â Hunter said, moving forward with all but Tech who stood in place a second longer. If his suspicions were correct, this was not going to go well.
Back inside, you were faced with your reflection. Blinking back confusion, your mind struggled to process what you were seeing. Stepping towards you, adorned in the traditional regalia of your homeworld, was your sister, looking every bit the senator she was meant to be, her hair elegantly braided back with strands of gold and pearls woven through. The purples and golds of her dress made her appear radiant and regalâso much like your mother, and so unlike you in your scuffed armor and haphazardly tied hair.
Nala Se wordlessly removed herself from the room, making the entire setup evident.
âSister?â Your voice barely whispered as you took a hesitant step forward, half-fearing that any sudden movement might cause her to vanish like a mirage.
Her eyes widened, her pace slowing, as she scanned your face. Her face, so alike and unlike yours, crumpled with emotion, her lip trembling. Then, with a burst of energy, she ran towards you, hands reaching out from the folds of her cloak. You caught her in a tight embrace as she collided into you, her presence grounding the surreal moment.
She didnât speak at first, only managing to choke back muffled sobs against your shoulder. You rested your head against hers, holding her close, and savored the familiar scent of her perfumeâa reminder of days long past. âIâve missed you,â you murmured, your voice not choked with sadness but steady and comforting. You had always been the pillar for her to lean on; this time was no different.
Your sister pulled back, rubbing tears away with the heel of her hand. She managed a shaky smile, laughing through another small sob. "Iâve been so worried. Iâm sorry I didnât come sooner."
You shook your head with a smile, gently gripping her shoulders. "You have more important things to do. Like, I donât know, running the galaxy," you joked. Pulling her into another hug, you held her close for a moment before stepping back to reassess her. "Though⌠what are you doing here?"
Your sister took your hand, her grip soft against your calloused skin, and squeezed it tightly. "Iâve come to take you home. Motherâ"
"Mother?" you interrupted, your tone sharpening as you pulled your hand away.
âWe need you-â
âWe?â You repeated louder. The joy of your sisterâs visit dimmed the instant you remembered why you were standing together in a Kaminoan facility in the first place. âIf this is for her, you shouldnât be here.â
Your sister pressed a hand to her chest, perturbed by your tone. Youâd never spoken to her like that. âYou donât even know what I was going to say.â
Swallowing the instinct to give in to her, you reached for your helmet. âI donât need to. You know why Iâm here and I intend to see it through. You should leave-â
The sounds of the doors whirring open cut you off as you snapped your helmet on in a hurry.
Suddenly confused, your sister opened her mouth to say something, but instead you heard a familiar voice and the strength youâd maintained was replaced by panic.
The sudden arrival of Crosshair and the rest of Clone Force 99 sliced through the tense atmosphere like a vibroblade. âHow touching,â Crosshair drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he rounded the privacy divider at the room's entrance. âWhat is our little princess doing alone with a reg? I didnât realize you had a pet.â His cold gaze landed on you, igniting a tremor in your hands.
Your sisterâs expression twisted in a stomach churning and familiar way. She scoffed and turned, âLittle princess?â She spat the words out, her disdain palpable. You felt like you might gag yourself.
Your attention snapped to Tech who was just as stunned as youâd been moments before. Apparently heâd not predicted this. Hunter kept a straight face, eyebrows a little furrowed. If he had any suspicions about your dual identity, this chaotic reveal was likely skewing his thoughts. Echo, ever the sentinel, stood slightly taller, his posture tightening as if preparing for conflict. Wrecker towered behind the group, watching on with a rare sense of seriousness.
Crosshair, shifting his weight casually and placing a toothpick between his lips, continued to provoke. âWhat? Donât want him knowing about our little fun together?â His wording wouldâve made you laugh had the situation been different. He stirring up a misunderstanding for his own amusement.
Your sister didnât bite. She cocked an eyebrow, giving the sniper a challenging stare before turning her attention back to you. âAre these the clones that have been training you?â Her tone was sharp, and her expression mirrored the stern demeanor of your mother.
Caught between weeks of training to maintain silence in your armor and the escalating tension, you found yourself paralyzed, struggling to formulate a response. It seemed all you could do was breathe through the growing panic.
âYou two know each other?â Wrecker piped up.
Your sister, her confusion morphing into frustration, glanced quickly back at the group. âAnswer me,â she demanded, her voice heavy with authority that did nothing to ease the stiffness of your tongue.
âYou little shit,â Crosshair fumed, stepping towards you but immediately restrained by Hunterâs firm grip. Despite being held back, he snapped, âShow respect and answer her.â
Receiving his anger as an unnamed clone never felt as painful as the anger directed to you now.
Whirling on them, your sister jabbed a finger at him. âWho do you think youâre talking to, clone?â The disrespect in the way she said âcloneâ gutted you and visibly startled Wrecker and Crosshair.
âMe?â Crosshair retorted, pointing a finger back at her. âWhy are you defending him?â
âHim?â Her voice rose almost to a shrill. You reached out, trying to pull her back from the brink of the confrontation, only to have your hand sharply slapped away. She spun around to face you. âTake that ridiculous thing off!â She reached for your helmet, and this time, you reflexively slapped her hand away.
Crosshair, seething with anger, wrenched free from Hunter's grasp and charged toward you. Tech's shouts echoed behind him, but Crosshair was undeterred. He brushed past your sister with a dismissive flick, gripped the rim of your helmet with one hand, and shoved you backward with the other. Just as you tumbled to the floor, your sister retaliated, pushing him away forcefully. From your position on the ground, you didn't see it, but the sharp slap she delivered resounded through the room.
With his cheek stinging from the slap, Crosshair held his ground, his grip white-knuckled on your helmet as he turned a furious gaze on the woman standing defiantly before him. The intensity in her eyes was something entirely new to him. They locked eyes, each poised for further confrontation, when a realization dawned on Crosshair.
Heâd never seen you look quite like this. In fact, you seemed like a completely different person. Dropping the toothpick from his lips, confusion replaced the anger on his face as he scrutinized the subtle differences in the face before himâslight variations in aging lines and hair length. There was more than that, Crosshair realized as he picked out the innumerable differences.
âCrosshairâŚâ Echo said hesitantly. Still sat on the floor, you were on full display for Echo.
Wreckerâs face fell as he glanced around Crosshair at you.
Steadying a shaky breath, you gathered what composure you could and pushed yourself up off the floor. "Calm down," you whispered, touching your sisterâs shoulder as you rose beside her.
Standing there, you couldn't bring yourself to look directly at Crosshair, afraid of the disgust you might see mirrored on his face. You missed the horror breaking across him. Instead, you kept your gaze fixed on your sister, silently pleading, "Sister, please."
Snapping her hand out, your sister harshly gripped your face and forced it towards the men. âYou're the ones who did this to her?â She was likely referencing the scar marking your nose or the other tiny, healed wounds your helmet had dealt you over time.
Heat scorched your face as you were forcibly put on display. You reluctantly met the eyes of Clone Force 99. Crosshairâs face was pale, his brows furrowed deeply and his mouth slightly ajar in a mix of horror and disbelief. Echo and Wrecker were in similar shades of shock. Hunter, on the other hand, looked almost regretful.Â
Gently removing your sisterâs tight grip, you attempted to soothe her. âThey didnât know. Mother-â
âDo not blame Mother for your stupid decisions!â She screamed, gesturing a hand at you.
âStupid decisions?â You challenged, feeling insulted. âMy decisions have been for you. So I can keep you safe.â
âI didnât tell you to do something so childish and I didnât tell you to go and ruin your face.â You inhaled sharply at her words. She knew how to slap with more than just her hand.
Ignoring the clones, she straightened herself, her demeanor cooling into a composed facade that echoed your mother's authority. âEnough.â she stated firmly, making you straighten your posture subconsciously. âYou are to come home and act as my body double at an upcoming gathering. The clones who trained you are to act as your security.â Pulling her hood up to shroud her face, you saw a glimpse of your gentle sister once more. âWe will discuss your future afterwards.â
With that, she was gone.Â
Left alone with the squadron, you looked to the ceiling as opposed to facing them immediately.
Tech approached, saying your name. The others whipped their heads to him, the familiarity in his tone throwing them off. âAre you alright?â He asked gently.
âYou knew about this?â Echo accused, turning on Tech.
âOf course I did.â Tech said quickly and dismissively.
Crosshair's hands clenched into fists repeatedly, his anger barely contained. "Was this all a game to you?" he growled, his gaze intense and accusing as he finally turned to you.
You were to weary to be angry at him. How he could ever think being pummeled everyday for weeks was anything close to a game was beyond you.
Meeting his fierce stare you offered a weak smile. It lasted only a second before it fell with your eyes. âNo, never. I was sent here for training⌠I didnât mean to deceive you.â Your mouth pressed into a tight line. âIâm sorry you were dragged into this.â
The room fell silent. Wrecker, who had been silent until now, finally spoke, his voice a mix of confusion and concern. "So, all this time, you wereâŚâ
âYes,â You finished for him. âBut I didnât mean for it to happen like this. Iâve been taking all the training seriously.â
âIt shows.â Echo said softly.
Hunter stepped forward. âAlright, we can sort this all out later.â He gave you a firm nod. âAs a team. But right now, we have a mission.â He extended you a hand and a smirk, an offering. âThe rest⌠you can explain on the way.â
Your chest caved at the sight. Taking his hand you choked out, âGladly.â
Tech adjusted his goggles with a smile. âThen that settles it.â Brandishing his datapad, he started scrolling through the screen. âAnd I have compiled a list of questions that will clarify this entire ordeal.â
Hunter walked beside you, placing an encouraging hand on your back. âLetâs get going.â
Echo and Wrecker still looked conflicted, but nodded in agreement with Hunter's decision, and even Crosshair, though still visibly upset, did not contest.
Tech gave one final note. âAll things considered, that went far better than even I could have predicted.â

When you take a tumble down a deep hole, you did not think for a second that Tech would dive in straight after you. With tensions on the high anyway, what fares when you both experience a certain aphrodisiac within the water.
âTell me, how exactly did you and Wrecker miss our ship being compromised?â
You watched in shocked awe as the Marauder, your home for going on the last eight months flying away without a crew member on board. Luckily, Wrecker answered Techâs irritating question for you.
âMaybe if you hadnât docked it out of view, we would have seen someone approaching.â
âWell, there was no other suitable landing zone, Wrecker.â Tech scolds.
âYes there was,â you snapped at the goggled clone, eyes fuming with anger, âI suggested landing just on the ledge above and you said no.â
âThe terrain was not suitable so I suggest you do not tell me where to dock my ship.â
You laughed mockingly at him, scoffing. âYour ship? How about next time you be the lookout then!â
âPerhaps I will.â He retorted, posture tense, âAlthough, the likelihood of getting the ship back is very slim.â His brown eyes are frowning at you from behind his helmet. His eyes always had that judging look when he looked your way which was enough to make your blood boil.Â
But when you looked at Omega, your heart sank. The others may not have noticed but you didnât miss the glistening of unshed tears in her eyes as the bunch of you argue.Â
âDonât worry Omega, it will be fine.â You reassure her softly, placing a hand to her shoulder.
Ever since Echo departed with Rex, the atmosphere had been tense. There was something about the man that had managed to keep the squad together, and with his departure, the cracks were starting to show. Nonetheless, this did not have a significant effect on your relationship with Tech, which had always been a bit unsteady.
âOther than the fact we have barely any food, shelter and mode of transportation, sure.â Tech interjects shortly before strutting off. You shot him an annoyed look before rolling your eyes.Â
âIgnore him.â You tell her before the lot of you venture off to find any signs of life.
ââââ
âWhat is your issue?â
With the Ipsium now gone, a rare and expensive mineral that you all came to this damned planet for, you find yourself trapped inside one of the vaults after the mineral exploded. So clearly, the mishap of the ship going missing was the start of the downfall.
His words were somewhat callous and lacked sympathy as he spoke down to Omega who was very frustrated and emotional, her young self looking to each and every one of you. Unfortunately, it was Tech who had to open his mouth.
You watched Omega leave, Hunter trying to get her to stay but after she insisted she wanted to be alone. As the team turned to Tech, you could sense their agitation and annoyance with his lack of empathy. You couldn't help but add your own thoughts to the mix, clapping slowly with a hint of sarcasm in your voice.
"Good job, Tech," you said, trying to make him understand the gravity of his words.
Tech, who had taken a seat on a boulder, was confused and looked over at you, frowning. "What did I say wrong?"
"You were stating the obvious," you voice with a grunt, grabbing your water canister and taking a gulp before saying, "but maybe you could've been a bit more empathetic."
âWould you rather me lie to her?â He counters, raising his brow as if to challenge you.
"It's not about lying, Tech. It's about understanding, especially in times like these."Â
"I was simply using logic," Tech defended himself. "Telling her the truth is the best way to handle the situation."
You took a deep breath, trying to control your rising frustration. "It's not about just telling her the truth, Tech. It's about how you say it.âÂ
Although you did not particularly like Tech, nor did he seem to like you it seems, you felt a little bad that you had to discuss with him his lack of social skills and emotional response to certain situations. He had always been this way, down to his genetic programming but for someone so smart, he canât see the bigger picture sometimes. âCanât you see she is upset?â
âI am aware that Omega is frustrated at the present moment but that has nothing to do with me. Omega needs to be aware that these situations happen and one of us has to be the voice of reason and therefore, logical conversation is the best approach.â He holds his finger in the air, âI understand if this goes over your head.â
You gritted your teeth, trying to contain your anger but to no avail. "Will you stop being an arse to me? We're all in the same boat here, and I will not have you speak to me like that!" Your raised voice strained as you spoke. Never had you been so bitter towards someone in your life as of right now. Not only has he made matters worse with an already sensitive Omega, he blamed you for not seeing the ship being taken, he basically called you stupid to your face⌠youâre surprised steam was not coming out of your ears at this point.
You storm off for a few minutes to collect yourself and in the meantime, Hunter folds his arms and glares across at his brother. âWell thatâs one way of telling her you like her.âÂ
Tech went to speak but no words came out, a little aghast at Hunter's insinuation. âI do not know what youâre talking about.â He mumbled a tad.
âSure you donât.â He unfolds his arms and begins to push away at some of the rocks. âGet back to work.â
Tech spots you from the corner of his eyes, your hands running over your face in presumed stress and just for a mere second, he is conflicting with his emotions.
âââ
The second you heard that Tech was off to find Omega, you donât really know why Hunter and Wrecker suggested you go with him. Albeit, something in your gut was telling you to go along anyway, so you did.
Your heart was thumping with every step you took alongside him, the eeriness of the mine only adding to the palpable tension.
âQuestion, why do you think they wanted you to come with me?â
Youâre surprised heâs making conversation but that wasnât exactly unlikely of him.Â
âI donât know.â You grunt, not interested in talking to him at all at the moment. You also had a feeling it was so he didnât upset Omega even more and to smooth things out but Hunter could sense how irate you got around Tech so this little mission together will be enlightening.Â
When you nudged Tech and pointed towards Omegaâs gear on the floor, youâre a little precarious to see her extracting the mineral that got them in this mess in the first place.
âHey love, you doing alright?â You ask softly, peering through the small hole she had made to crawl through. When your heart landed on the large gaping hole beside her feet however you grew hot under your collar.Â
âFine.â She muttered, extracting the last bit from the section she was at. âWhat are you two doing here?â
"We came to see where you were, of course," you say softly, hoping to bring some comfort to her. That is until Tech decides to interject.
"And to find some Ipsium," he blurts out, causing you to shoot him a disapproving look. He quickly gets the message and coughs, trying to rectify the situation. "Which you are already cleverly extracting for us. Great job."
âNo,â Omega mutters, pulling the drill away and finally looking up at you both, âwhy are you two here? Together? You hate one another.â
The pair of you froze. Even though it was clear that there was some kind of tension between the two of you, always bickering, hate was certainly a strong word. In fact, you knew what it was like to hate someone and you never felt it with Tech. You felt something, though you could not pinpoint what it was exactly.
Tech looks at you, gauging your reaction but he did not understand the look on your face.Â
âHate is not the word I would use.â You finally speak up, voice a little timid as Tech stood next to you. You didnât want to add fuel to the already blazing fire between the pair of you, nor did you want to upset Omega any further. âWe just have different thoughts about things.â
She blinks at you both before subtly rolling her eyes. âWhatever you say.â
You sighed, head slumped before moving out of the way to let Tech speak with her.Â
Thankfully, Tech quickly changes the topic. âHow much have you extracted?â
âJust this vial. Figured we could use it to blow ourselves out of here.â She holds it up to him, a little irritated that he didnât take it from her grasp.
You stood back and watched the exchange and you can tell he is definitely trying to make it up to her. Although he is not apologising upfront nor discussing it, you figured his best approach is to forget it and move on.
When they both come up with an agreement, the tension slowly fading away between them, thereâs one vial left but the extraction point looks just a little bit out of Omegaâs reach.
âIâll get that one if you want?â You suggest, not liking the way she was almost creeping over the edge of a large black hole.
Omega wants to finish the job herself but knows that you were probably better suited as you were taller. âOkay, Iâm going to go back to the others then.â She wipes some sweat off her brow before swapping places with you.
Tech peers through the hole you just crawled in, tapping away at his datapad. âAre you aware of how this procedure goes?â He asks once Omega vacates the area.Â
You reach down and grab the drill, looking to the final piece that was in a very precarious place. âYep.â You reply shortly, trying not to get distracted.
âDo we really need this last one?â You mutter more to yourself but Tech had a keen ear.
âIf we are to have extra, then not only can we escape this place but we will also be compensated for it.â He pushes his goggles up his nose. âSo yes.â
âGreat.â
It was no easy feat and several times you had to alter your position, crouching, leaning and every other position to make sure youâre safe but it didn't help at all when you had someone breathing down your neck.
âAre you nearly done?â You jump a little, turning around to see Tech staring at you with a bored expression.Â
âIâm trying my best, Tech.â You sneer, turning back to the task at hand.
âYou need to lean closer.âÂ
You groan in frustration and enthusiastically point to the gaping abyss. âDo you need your goggles cleaned or can you not see this hole? Iâll be done, when Iâm done!âÂ
In a moment of weakness, you had reached across as prodded by Tech but just a tad overstepped, sending you over the edge.
âTech!â You squeak, clawing onto the jagged rocks to hold yourself up, panic shooting through you as your feet scrambled to cling onto anything.
His eyes widen in horror and in a blink he is by your side, reaching across to you. âTake my hand.â
You take a breath and let go with one hand, reaching for him. But as your fingers brush against his, youâre not strong enough to hold on and fall into the abyss.
He screams your name, standing up and with no second thought, he jumps down after you.Â
The water was tumultuous as you struggled to keep your head above the water. Your arms and legs are kicking, the energy you had slowly fading as you struggle against the current.
Then you heard your name.
âTech!â You called out with a sob as the water thrashed over your face and partially down your throat.
He swam towards you as fast as he could, shouting your name as you cried out for help while your body crashed against the jagged rocks, your lungs filling with water.
But Tech soon caught up to you, wrapping his arms around you tightly as you both rode the current into the unknown. When you were suddenly confronted by a waterfall, you both cascaded over it, splashing into a peaceful pool.
You emerged from the water, gasping for air but began to panic when you didn't see your savior; Tech.
âTech! Where are you?â You gasp, searching the water to see if he had been swept underÂ
but relief washes through you as he quickly emerged from the water moments later, gasping for breath and searching for you.
You both lock eyes, panting heavily before you start to swim for an embankment, crawling onto land. Youâre coughing violently, some water pumping out of you as Tech collapsed onto his back, pulling his goggles back to wipe away the water droplets.
You lay staring at the rocky yet blue illuminated ceiling, catching back your breath as your wet clothes hung to your body. You sit up eventually, looking at the bright pool of blue you and Tech just got submerged in before glancing around.Â
âIt appears we have entered an underground aqueduct surrounded by plenty of Ipsium.â Tech acknowledges, sitting up and looking around too. âNot the best place for you to lure us into but not the worst.â
You processed his words and even now, he had the nerve to put the blame on you. âAre you saying this is my fault?âÂ
âPartly, yes.â He replies nonchalantly.
You scoff, standing up and moving away from him. âI canât believe you. Are you really doing this? Now?â
He watches you move and stands too but remains where he was. âSimply stating facts.â
You look at him in disbelief, running a hand through your sopping wet hair. âDid I ask you to jump down with me?â
He shifts, suddenly feeling a little warm under the collar. âWell no but-.â
âAnd was I the one to initially upset Omega?â
âIt can be argued we all had a part in that-.â
âWas it you who allowed me to get the last bit of Ipsium?â You bombard him with questions, all of it leading up to now. âWas it you who told me to lean in closer?â
His jaw clenched, fists tightening. âIf you and Wrecker had not let our ship get stolen, we wouldnât be here at all.â
âI told you to dock it somewhere else! In view!â You shout, voice booming around the small hidden cave.Â
âAnd why would I rely on anything you have to say to me? You have not an ounce of my intelligence nor knowledge of planets. You do not know how to drive a ship, let alone instruct the pilot where it should land.â He rants, eyes trained on you, both of your breathing hard and heavy, tension so thick it felt like nothing could cut it. âKnow your place in this squad.âÂ
His words hurt. A lot. No matter how much you bickered he had never said anything so belittling to you. Stress is evident on both of your faces given the situation but to hear how he supposedly felt about you was difficult to swallow. âI⌠youâre impossible.â You whisper but he still hears it.Â
The second he heard you sniffle, he wanted to instantly narrow it down that you instantly got a cold from the water but as you aggressively wiped away a tear and stormed off, he knew he took it too far. Does he chase after you? No. He figured you wanted to be left alone just like he learnt with Omega. So in the meantime, he tried to contact the others.
You sat on the other side of the cave, your knees hugged to your chest as you just sat and hoped that Tech could summon a message to the others. In the meantime as you sat, you tried to ignore the odd pulse circulating under the skin of your palms. But, it started getting progressive and a wave of scorching heat flushed your body.
A whimper parts your lips and you begin to quickly strip the gear from your body and throw it around you carelessly. âWhyâs it so fucking hot in here?â You gasp to yourself, tugging on the high collar of your body glove.
âI too am suddenly feeling quite feverish.â Techâs voice sounded next to you making you jolt. As you look up at him, your eyes drank in his tall, slender figure. You swallow the saliva that started to pool in your throat, pushing the clouded thoughts to the back of your mind.Â
âDid you get contact with the others?â You rasp, moving yourself onto your knees, staring down at the water as you try and steady your breathing that suddenly becomes ragged and scratched at your throat.Â
Tech shakes his head and quietly sits beside you, unconsciously tugging at his now soaked clothes as he feels as though heâs been dipped in lava. âNo, I canât get a clear signal.â He says steadily, blinking quickly as sweat starts to seep into his goggles and blur his vision.Â
You could almost moan in despair but the only whimper that parted through your lips was one of searing pleasure.
âT-Tech, do you feel⌠different?â You whisper, looking up at him through hooded eyes.
Tech looks back down at you, pulling his goggles up onto his head to swipe the dripping of sweat from his eyes and he almost gasps at the sight of you.Â
Your lips looked full, parted and wanting. Your skin glowed with a distinctive hue that he couldnât quite put his finger on but as he stands above you, seeing you on your knees a wave of pleasure shoots straight to his cock. He closes his eyes, tight. Mentally trying to snap him out of this precarious situation and then an idea popped into his head.Â
His hands, now shaking and pulsing under his gloves reach to one of his many sections of his utility belt before pulling out a single vial, and swiping up the water the pair of you plummeted in.Â
You chew on the inside of your cheek. Hard. So hard you think you think you could have drawn blood but itâs nothing compared to the bite at the center of your core as your heart races with nothing but desire. You needed to touch yourself.Â
âOh dear,â he finally says.
âWhat is it?â
Tech slumps against one of the boulders that surrounded the cave, a mixture of different emotions flushing through him. Confusion, worry and a whole lot of desire. âThe water⌠it appears to be polluted which is why we are reacting to it.â
âYou want to narrow that down?â You groan, falling onto your back as your fingers deep into the rough texture of sand beneath your body to refrain yourself from reaching down and begin to relieve this brewing sensation.Â
Tech's eyes that were trying so hard to stare at the datapad in his hand only start to move to longing gaze at you, watching you physically writhe on the floor as a mixture of whines and moans erupt from your mouth. âItâs polluted with,â he gulps, trying to now ignore how physically aching it was to feel his length pressed against his pants, âaphrodisiacs.â
The word itself made you mewl and although you should feel panicked and alarmed, the burning feeling between your legs followed by the throbbing pulse all over your body was taking over instead. âW-what do we do?âÂ
Not knowing what he was doing, his hand lowers to his crotch and stars to slowly palm himself at the sight of you tugging and tearing at your bodysuit to rip it from your body. The moment of weakness stops and he quickly snaps out of what heâs doing and diverts his gaze and body away from you. âTo erase the side effects you will need to masturbate in order to form the release. An o-orgasm,â he grunts, gripping onto the boulder as the word makes his cock twitch, âis the only way to stimulate. I will leave you alone to engage in this process.âÂ
The second Tech moves away to the other side of the cave to take care of himself, you have pulled yourself out of your body glove and began the impulse of pleasuring yourself.
Your hand flushed down your thigh and then to your bare sex, pressing two fingers harshly down against your clit that had you wailing out in ecstasy. âOh f-f-fuck!â Your whole body arches in response to the touch to your bud, circling motions rapidly as you beg for the quick release that is brewing.Â
Your moans and swears echo around the cave, deafening out the noise of the waterfall that poured down. But itâs not enough.
Frantically, your fingers move to your sopping wet entrance, curling inside of you and rubbing back and forth as your opposite hand now rubs furiously at your clit. Although your body spasms, the burning that felt like your body was aflame with sexual desire would not fade. Moans become erratic, it isnât long until youâre begging for your own release as you writhe pathetically on the ground.Â
Then, you said his name. The one person who you knew could push you over the edge. âTeeeeeech,â you call his name. Wanting. Needing.
Within the space of maybe ten seconds, a shadow looms over your sweating and spasming body and as your eyes open, you melt to see Tech in the nude, pumping his cock that was glistening in precum.
âYou look so wonderful like that,â he purrs, licking his lips as he stands over you and strokes his cock in frantic motions. âI knew it wouldnât be long until you would be begging for me.â
âP-please Tech,â you grit, fingers going completely numb with the constant strumming against your clit, âitâs too much, I need you.â
The second your back arches, Tech falls to his knees beside you and slings an arm around your back. Heâs swift in his movements and heâs uttering the most indiscreet filth he could before diving his fingers straight into your core without a second thought.
His fingers hook inside you, pulsing all the while expertly have his thumb rubbing at your bud.Â
âOh my stars! Tech, please donât stop, please make this burning go away.â You beg him, writhing under his touch as his hand rocks against you, sending you into a flurry of loud groans.Â
âThatâs it darling, take my fingers. Maker, youâre sublime and a little begging mess for me. Glorious.â Tech grunts as his hand starts to spasm, his pace relentless and despite wanting you to cum all over his fingers so he could taste you, he didnât expect for a second for your hand to come down and grab at his cock and balls.
Your hands look small in comparison to his length, his skin hot to the touch that felt like silk. With your touch alone, it has him bucking his hips as you both mutually pleasure one another. âYouâve got such a pretty cock, Tech,â you whimper, looking down at his member that twitched in your hands both somewhat aware and non aware of the lewd words that pour from your lips.Â
âAnd youâve got the most perfect little pussy that needs pleasuring. And am I doing that?â Tech locks eyes with you, dark and filled with an unspoken need. âAm I pleasuring you enough?â
âYes! Fuck yes, you are. I think Iâm going to cum soon.â You tremble and in your heart, you didnât want him to stop the incessant rampage of his fingers against your cunt.Â
As you pump along his throbbing cock, Tech feels himself start to edge closer and close to his release. Heâs whimpering, a sound you never thought youâd be blessed of hearing but thereâs something about him that makes you tingle. His eyes trail down from your face to your breast, mouth salivating at the thought of ramming his cock between the perfect mounds.
âKiss them, please.â You had caught his leering and without a second thought he bends down and latches his lips to your stiff peaks, tongue licking aggressively against the sensitive skin.Â
Your legs begin to shake, the touch of his hands agaisnt you, the feeling of his tongue licking feverishly against you followed by the gesture of you wanking caused your body to shoot, making you wail as you hit your climax.Â
Tech follows soon after, his hot ribbon seeping over your fist as he his hips stutter.
You let out a longing gasp, elbows shaking as you prop yourself up to see Techâs glistening fingers pull out of your body lewdly.Â
The silence was ringing and for a moment, you didnât dare look to Tech. Your heart race is the realisation of what just took place began to hit but not as quick as another jolt of pulsations straight to your clit once again.
âTech,â you rasp out and consciously grip onto his wrist, shaking, âIâm sorry but-.â
âIâm aware.â Tech whispers and as you finally meet his gaze, you look down and see that his cock was already hard and twitching for your touch.Â
âI didnât mean for any of this to happen,â you manage out before the aphrodisiac overpowers you once again.
Tech nods quickly in understanding and in the faintest of touches, he cups your cheek, âI know.âÂ
Quicker than before, the wave of desire washed over you both and simultaneously you both lean in, lips slanting over one another as his tongue plunged straight into your mouth. Both of you fought against each other, thick muscles that spent so much time bickering at another now dancing in a fiery passion.Â
Heâs crawling on top of you now, his cock sliding against your thigh and stomach as you maintain this intense make out session but it was going on for too long. You just couldnât bear another second without his cock inside of you.
âFuck me,â you plead, âI need you to fuck me so hard I canât walk for a week. I want you to ram your cock so deep inside me, please.â You moan against his lips, words of filth that were almost unholy to hear that made Tech let out a guttural snarl as he pulled away from your lips and quickly positioned himself between your now spread legs.
His tip presses to his entrance but heâs not shy in letting his hands roam your body, tweaking your nipples before resting them on your hips. âMaker, you do look breedable.â
In one quick motion, heâs breached your entrance in a swift motion, buried inside you.
âSTARS! TECH!â Your cries in delight boom around the cave, your body beautifully glowing from the pool of water beside you both as he almost bottoms out ontop of you.Â
âK-Kriff,â he stutters, feeling your walls clench around him like a vice, the burning through his veins temporarily subsiding before absolutely rocking his cock in and out of you like a man desperate for air.
His hands clasp at your waist, fingers biting down into your flesh as your body shoves down against the ground with every resounding thrust he gives you. âCould fuck this little pussy all night if I have to,â he grunts through gritted teeth, eyes dark.
If you werenât intoxicated by this sensation you would be in complete shock at his words, but instead you let his words carve into your mind as his hips rock back and forth all the while your gazes are locked on another.Â
In a moment of weakness, his hand moved from your hip and over your breast, caressing the soft mound with his fingers as a devilish smirk plasters his face. âIâve always imagined your breasts to be divine to touch. So wonderful to know I was correct.â He sings, admiring you from above.
âTheyâre all yours Tech,â you submit to him, eyes heavy, âyou can have me whenever, wherever. Just please donât stop.â
A noise emits from him and you gasp as he manages to flip you so you're now on your front, forced to your hands and knees before he starts to take you from behind, spanking your cheeks with his thighs with every hard thrust. âYou shouldnât have said that meshâla, can you not understand that I have wanted to fuck you for so, so long? Having to, ugh fuck-.â He pauses his unfiltered words, in awe of how pretty you looked arched downwards as he seethes his aching cock into you, âhaving to watch you all day everyday and never being able to express my desires.â
Again, your mind is too boggled to completely comprehend the seriousness of his words. Your cries of pleasure strain in your throat and your eyes burn with desire as Techâs hands grip to your lower back, pushing you down to the ground as he hits you with wanting thrusts.Â
âYouâre fucking me so good Tech. Why havenât we done this sooner?âÂ
Techâs low chuckle does something to you as your words did to him, âNext time instead of fighting, we should just fuck. Or maybe, if you want me to submit,â Tech breathes through each thrust, seeing himself pull his cock out thatâs now glistening with your juices, âbe a whore and suck my cock. You obviously like it, donât you?â
âY-yes! Yes I love your cock! It feels so good in my pussy. Bet itâs even better between my lips.â You entice, looking over your shoulder at him which sparked something wild in him.
He pulls out despite being spurred on, leaving you almost begging for him. But this time youâre being pulled into his lap, tongues already dancing against each other the moment your lips meet as you seethe onto his thick length.Â
âYou may think my cock would be better between your lips, but I have never felt anything better than it being inside you.â He whispers to your lips, almost a glimmer of reality snapping back to you both as his words werenât exactly driven by the intoxins - rather something else.
Youâre smirking against his mouth and thatâs when the desperation of needing to be fucked hard again, boils. As you begin to move your hips, frantically back and forth and rocking against his cock, his eyes shoot wide open and heâs whimpering tirelessly in front of you.
âThatâs it, thatâs my girl! What an edacious creature you are. Riding my cock like a good slut. Canât get enough, can you?â He is holding onto your waist, fingers biting against the flesh once more as you tilt your head back, rhythm changing from back and forth to up and down. Your tits are bouncing in his face that he wasted no time in burying his face into the mounds, kissing and sucking against your skin.
He had lost his sense of self completely now and was driving in pure instinct alone that when his tongue slid over one of your nipples, you gasped in approval. With your hands coming up and wrapping around his neck, your breathing is ragged and exacerbated whilst he uses you.
âYou like it when I ride your cock, Tech? Huh? You love my pussy donât you? Maker, could sit on your cock all day and never get enough.â Words of filth ooze out your mouth ease, making Tech react to your words with wanton moans.
Techâs lips glaze over your beasts, leaving marks of today's antics as a reminder all the while claiming you. âDonât stop darling, donât you dare stop until you have milked every last drop of my seed until it seeps out of your little hole.â
Youâre wet, warm, and velvet soft around Techâs cock, taking him to the base with greed. He picks up a rhythm, matching yours as rocking his hips up and into you steadily as the blue shine of the cave reflects on your naked and sweating bodies.Â
Minutes that felt like both hours and seconds passed, Tech pounding you at such a rapid pace that you were confident your pussy was getting warmer. Skin prickling with tingles, you knew you were about to cum.Â
âTech! Oh fuck, Tech I think Iâm close to cumming! Make me cum! Please make me yours with your cum.â As you finished your thoughts, you cried out with joy, your entire body feeling like it was lighter than air while simultaneously being filled with every possible positive sensation it could possibly handle. Your mind lost all semblance of where you were, what had happened to you and what had gotten you to this point, instead focusing solely on Tech beneath you, still diligently pounding himself into you like he was sex starved.Â
As your mind slowly returns to reality and your breathing catches up with your body's senses, youâre aware of what was happening. Especially as you felt him still pounding into you. Tech was whining, grunting and groaning as he maintained smashing into you rapidly, and you could tell by the way he breathed and his determination that he must be close to climax.Â
Suddenly, he groans out your name. Shouting it so loud that it wouldnât surprise you if the others had heard his cries from above. You could feel him driving himself as deep as he could go. A gasp emits from your lips as the burning that once was scorching your body from the water was replaced with the warm feeling of him filling you up with more cum than before.
Your lips part, words strangled in your throat as you felt his warm cum stuffing you while you guiltily enjoy the sensation. In fact, you could have sworn he was filling you to the point that you thought you may have had a second, smaller orgasm as he began his. Tech grunts with exertion as he finally finishes, his head flopping forward to rest against your shoulder, tiredly.
âTech,â you whisper after what seemed like forever, hand gently resting on his shoulder to bring his head back to meet his gaze.
As the pair of you locked eyes, it clicked instantly what just happened. How one second you were arguing and then the next⌠Similar to you, his lips parts but this time he is speechless.Â
A wave of new emotions flooded over him, none of which he understood or could process. Though the more you looked into his eyes, the more you understood that jittering feeling in your stomach. But now was probably not the time to look into it.
Eventually, Tech carefully removed you from his lap and you had to hold your breath about how lewd it was feeling his now softening length pulling out of you.Â
He is silent when he collects his gear, slipping the damp clothing back on his body meanwhile you do the same.Â
He glances over his shoulder at you and a wave of worry hits him when he notices grazing over your back.Â
âDid I hurt you?â
Pausing, you quietly turn to look at him and see him gesture to your back. Awkwardly you glance down and audibly wince at the markings. But, from what you were aware, he wasnât the cause of it. âNo. It wouldâve been from when I fell.â
âI see. When we head back to the ship I will gather supplies to help you clean it up.â He is fumbling around with his belongings, trying everything in his power to ignore what just happened but a pressing matter infiltrated his mind. âSpeaking of supplies, we will need to head into the nearest village to locate any means of contraceptive-.â
âIâm on the pill, Tech.â You sigh, running a hand through your damp hair as you finish getting dressed before plopping yourself back on the sand, pulling your knees to your chest.Â
Tech looks down from over his datapad at you, unsure how to approach this. But after taking a deep breath, he silently sits beside you, both of you gazing into the water that did unspeakable things to you both.
âI am unsure what to say to set your mind at ease.â He starts, trepidation on his words. âThough I can imagine it is hard for you to also summarize how youâre feeling about his moment.â
You close your eyes, hoping that burning behind your eyes would subside because although he had seen you, all of you, you werenât ready to let him see your tears. âYou donât have to say anything,â
Tech looks in your direction, eyes drinking in your features. âI⌠I am sorry.â
âWhat for? You did what you had to to help me.âÂ
âIâm aware, but I am not apologising for that.â Your eyes open and a flurry of confusion crosses your face.Â
You turn your head to look at him, shocked a little to see him already looking back. âThen, what are you sorry for?â
A sigh parts his lips. âI am sorry for all the times I have been hard on you. I am also apologising for what I said previously about you having to know âyour place in this squadâ.â Your mind is reeling and all you can do is let him continue. âIt has come to my attention, for a long time now, that you are a valuable asset. My behavior towards you is unwarranted.â
âBut,â you lick your lower lip idly, not quite processing what he was saying, âI thought you hated me?â
âHate is a strong word. And as we discussed with Omega before, I do not hate you. Differing ideologies is all.â He breathes out shakily, feeling a minimal weight leave his shoulders.Â
âSo why are you hard on me?â
He rubs the back of his neck, a little unsure on how to answer. So often he had been judged for his blunt responses and now, he was finding it difficult to be honest. But, if the two of you were to never make it out of here - he may as well lay it all on the line.
âThere is no denying that I struggle with emotions and how I reciprocate certain feelings from others. Truthfully, there is something about you that I find both irritating yet fascinating.â
He sneaks a glance at you as he speaks and he expected you to appear annoyed but instead, you appeared quite intrigued. Subtly, you nod your head to continue. âWhat I am trying to say is that I have a rooted attraction to you and feel as though pushing you away would help. But, it does not seem to be working.â
As you try to let his words sink in, you couldnât help the feeling of your heart seeming to somewhat flutter at his admittance. All this time⌠he liked you? Truthfully your mind was still a little hazy to take it all in but there was now a burning question in the back of your mind. âDid you mean anything you said?â
âIndicating to what?â Tech asked gently though he had an inkling as to what you were referring to.
âYou knowâŚâ you say shyly, cheeks emitting a certain heat.
He chews on the inside of his cheek, fully aware of what filth had poured from his lips only minutes ago. âFrom what I gather from aphrodisiacs is that it sends even the most sane people wild. All in all, a lot of truths are or have been told when under the influence.â
With a shaken breath, you close your eyes. âSo itâs true that youâve always wanted to fuck me? Thatâs what you said.â
âYes. Yes, that is true.âÂ
Oddly enough, youâre okay with this information. Although you canât say you have felt the same but in the back of your mind, you still remember the sight of him above you and remembered word for word everything he said.Â
âI hope you do not think I have taken advantage of you - that would never, ever be the case. If I could have thought of a different solution then of course, I would have. There could be many anecdotes but-.â
âTech.â You cut him off softly, clearly your silence was playing on his mind. You tilt your head to hom and offer him the softest smile he had ever been blessed to receive from you. âThank you for saving me.âÂ
A gasp echoes through the cave as you gently lace your fingers through his, a gentle squeeze that speaks a thousand words.Â
You werenât too sure what was going to happen from now on. Would the others ever find you? What was to become of yours and Techâs relationship? All you know is that if you were to fall into a cave filled with water with dangerous toxins with anybody - youâre somewhat glad it was Tech.Â

Uncommon Reaction
Pairing: Tech x Fem!Reader (our lovely medic line) Warnings: female insults, gross man being a jerk to reader, violence, cursing, Mando'a cursing, fluff, not proof read I just needed to get it out as my mourning, nothing else I don't think Word Count: 4.5k Summary: Needing something from town, you're stuck with going with Tech, as everyone else is busy. You're not used to his response when a man decides to be rude to you.
Requests are open if you have anything you'd like to send in!
______________________________
"Echo," your mirthful voice reverberated around the walls of the Maruader as you laughed, "please?"
Laughing at your shameful display as you childishly hung off of the man's shoulder, playfully pouting at him with eyes as wide as a loth kitten. He chided you with an amusingly stern use of your name, dragging you alongside him as he walked down the gangplank, "I've already told you that I can't go with you into town. I'd love to but I have to help Hunter gather the rations and make sure we have enough for the next trip."
Whining dramatically, you pull at his hand, "I can wait! Really! I'll even help count so it'll go quicker!" Though you tried your most convincing grin, hoping your innocent tone would win him over as it had multiple times before, the Arc trooper shook his head.
"Sorry, sarad, no can do." His simple decline made you groan in frustration and drop his hand indignantly but he continued, "It's already getting late, anyway, the sun'll be gone before we even finish counting. Why don't you see if Tech will go with you?"
At the mention of the clever clone, your cheeks immediately warmed and you pulled away from Echo a bit in fear he might catch your sudden change. "I-I'm sure he's busy...he's always busy with some kinda tinkering." Your mumbled response was met with a raised brow from the cybernetic clone before you, his trained eye-catching the evergrowing red color staining your cheeks. Though the planet had a warmer temperature than some others the Batch had stopped on recently, Echo knew this couldn't have affected you so suddenly. You noticed his scrutinizing squint and quickly tried to move the subject elsewhere, "Maybe Wrecker or Cross could go with-"
With another shake of his head, a knowing grin starting to grow over his pale lips, arms crossing over his armored chest, Echo interrupted you, "Busy with rearranging the cargo hold so Tech doesn't get rid of their explosives again." Then he smirked at your obvious dilemma, "Besides, I'm sure that if you ask him, Tech'll set whatever he's doing aside. He seems to like you more than any of the rest of us."
Stammering at Echo's teasing, you fumbled with a response. He couldn't be serious, right? Tech was nice, of course, he was just as nice as any of the others- just in his own way.
The way that sent butterflies screaming into your stomach...
The way that made your hands tremble sometimes when he forgot about the social decency of personal space...
Tech was nice in the way that you adored and couldn't get enough of even when you'd been around him for hours upon hours, even when his brothers wanted to strangle him.
"Uh, w-well, I don't-" You started as Echo tapped his chin with his scomp-link, in thought when footsteps from the gangplank sounded.
Walking down a step at a time, Tech emerged, face ever plastered to his datapad. A miniscule glance was sent from Echo to you then back to the device in his hands. "I heard whining from the pilot's seat," he began, his precise tone sounding uninvested as it typically did when he was observing a situation unbiasedly.
Echo grinned over at Tech, "Just the clone we were looking for," he praised with a welcoming wave of his scomp. "Our dear medic here is in dire need of heading into town and no one has any time to go with her."
As soon as Echo mentioned you needing to go into town, Tech put away his datapad, eyes meeting yours. "It would seem I am currently unimpeded by any projects that require my immediate attention, for the time being, that is." He stepped further down the gangplank, standing in the unoccupied space before you and Echo. "An appropriate solution would be that I accompany you into the nearby town."
Echo slowly turned his head to meet your red face, smirking proudly at you, "It would be, wouldn't it?" He chuckled at your incredulous expression, then looked back at the taller clone. "Then make it quick the two of you, it's going to be getting dark soon and I'm sure the town isn't the best place to be, even for us." He rested his hand on Tech's shoulder, walking back up the gangplank to head inside the ship, momentarily turning around to salute you with a wink.
You stood there for a second in disbelief, trying to understand how the situation left you with just Tech....alone.
"I cannot believe him." You muttered to yourself under your breath, shaking your head.
"He is correct, actually" Tech interjected into your thoughts, causing you to start a bit, forgetting his proximity. Looking up to see him fixing his goggles on his face more comfortably, you noticed the way his brown eyes caught the sun, as light snuck behind the frames to speckle the golden hues decorating them. "The town we are heading to is known for its rather," he searched around the area for the appropriate word, "sordid, is perhaps the best term I can use for it. We would be safer grabbing what it is you need quickly, then returning at a proper pace." His explanation continued but you began to get lost in your own thoughts, admiring the man before you. It seemed to happen, sometimes, that you would find yourself marveling at how someone who was supposed to be a clone- "defective" or otherwise- was so uniquely designed. However, no matter how smart Tech was, he was so clueless of his beauty (unlike Hunter who was exhaustively aware of his looks). The way his freckles brushed over the thin bridge of his nose to paint his tanned cheeks. The way his honeyed eyes were just a few shades brighter than his brothers, the way the light lingered in them even after all was dark. He was oblivious to how handsome he looked when he raised that one eyebrow in challenge, or when one of his brothers said something entirely incorrect. He was just as strong, just as well adept in battle, as any of his brothers (other than Wrecker), but he had the added allure of his intelligence that made you fall that much quicker. Tech's straightforward behavior, the endearing seriousness, his misconception of certain social cues, and the way his heart was still as open as any of the others- more so, you could argue- just made cherishing him so much easier.
A gentle call of your name caught you off-guard and you shook your head to refocus. "Hmm? Yes?"
Tech's face had grown adorably perplexed as he searched yours inquisitively. "I had asked if you were ready to leave, though I was met with only your vacant expression. Are you alright?"
A burning crept up your neck as you blinked dumbly at the clone trooper, "Y-yep! I'm perfectly fine!" You winced at the crack in your voice, hoping that if he asked any further questions you could blame some of it on the slightly elevated temperature of the planet.
Tech seemed gracious, or oblivious, enough to move on from the situation and nodded at your reply. "Then I suppose we should leave," he gestured for you to go ahead of him, "after you, mesh'la."
-
Once in town, you had noticed quickly what Tech had meant about the town being a little less desirable. The people seemed to even shy away from one another from time to time, going about their own business and then skittering away.
Tech kept a close pace behind you, placing himself directly behind your shoulder, his impressive height becoming even more pronounced. People seemed content to avoid the two of you and you hadn't noticed any issues with the trip so far until you felt Tech press himself further into your back, the smooth front of his chest piece cramming into your shoulder blade. "Tech?"
You glanced up as you continued forward, noting how his eyes narrowed behind his goggles, analyzing something further into the crowd. If you hadn't been in what seemed like a rather precarious situation- based on his current manner- you would find his closeness thrilling and unusual, but by his squared shoulders, you knew he was locked onto something questionable. "Apologies for my proximity." He spoke in a low, curt tone, eyes never meeting yours.
"Is...everything alright?" You questioned, trying to look around the crowd of people to see whatever was bothering the trooper.
Tech hummed in response, the rumble of his chest shaking through his armor and into your shoulder. "Our safety is secured for the present moment. Though it would be wise for my presence to be as near to you as comfortably possible for the duration of our outing."
You hadn't been out by yourself very many times with just Tech, possibly a time a two, but any time you had been it was always causal and friendly places. You'd seen Echo, Wrecker, or Hunter get protective in the face of social danger when you'd gone out with them before and it seemed like an evident connection to make that Tech (or even Crosshair) would've as well even though it hadn't been something you'd actually thought about before. However, now, you couldn't stop the way your heart ached at Tech's rapid transition from relaxed to defensive, the strong line of his jaw the first thing you caught sight of whenever you glanced up to make sure he was still on the lookout.
"Alright," you rushed out, "I'll be quick then. Sorry for the hassle, I didn't expect there to be an actual problem." Any more guilt you had been about to express died when you felt a large hand on the other shoulder blade, the warmth spreading through your entire body.
"Your apology is unwarranted. You required something, it is only sensible that one of us accompany you for protection. Although you are a reputable member of the GAR whom I have seen manage precarious situations rather exceptionally, I am certain every one of us would prefer to maintain your safety as much as we are capable." Tech finally glanced down to give you the slightest hint of a smile, accompanied by a reassuring nod. "Please, continue."
"Th-Thanks," was all you could dumbly reply as you tore your eyes away from the clone to search around for any pop-up stand that had what you had dragged Tech out here to get. It was some form of balm that you had needed to add to your collection for healing cuts and scrapes that the GAR hadn't entirely said was a part of the standard order of supplies but it worked as a wonderful substitute for bacta. It didn't take much longer to find a stand that was selling medical salves and the like, though the warmth of Tech's steady touch- whether from his chest or his hand- distracted you desperately.
While shopping through the procured items laid out, you felt Tech's hand fall away from your shoulder and a voice that was unknown to you spoke. "Listen goggles," the gruff man spoke, "just walk away from the woman and nobody has to get hurt, alright?"
As you began to turn, you were met with Tech's broad back blocking you as his hand came behind him to tuck you closer. "I regret to inform you that I am incapable of doing so." His voice was as steady and casual as typical for Tech, if you'd not known any better you would've thought he'd been speaking to Hunter or one of the others.
Choking out a gurgled laugh, the man pulled out a blaster, clicking off what you recognized as the stun. You were hardly terrified, Tech was highly skilled, though faced with a blaster you were worried he might be injured. Tech wasn't the first to respond with violence, opting instead to de-escalate the situation with a straightforward and disarming method. "I don't think you heard me, prick. I don't think you want to die over a whore, do you?" The insult hit you, surprised by its accusation and you placed a steadying hand on the backpack Tech wore, to steal a glance of the situation. You felt the hand that was placed on your arm tighten its grip protectively at your movement.
Tech was caught off guard by the insult as well, inclining his head at the shorter man. "Pardon me?"
"The whore, you fool. I want to whore. Move away so I can have her and we can part ways without anyone getting harmed." The man motioned with his blaster for Tech to step aside, though he remained unmoving.
Tech adjusted his goggles with his free hand, "by my estimation, it would seem that the only fool in our current location would be you. I will not be moving, so in light of our impasse, how would you prefer to proceed? By the tremble of your blaster, I would venture that you are incapable of properly wielding the weapon, which is a dangerous decision in and of itself. Again, it would seem you are the fool." Tech took a step forward, calm assurance complimenting his candid tone.
"B-Back up, freak! I'll blast you without a second thought." The man snarled as he raised his blaster higher toward Tech's chest. As you noted what Tech said, he was right- as always- the man's hand shook prominently. Though the sight of a blaster pointed so blatantly at the trooper was unsettling, you trusted him.
"Proper blaster decorum is to hold higher on the handle, finger over the trigger, and placed securely at the target of the blaster bolt." Tech's nonchalant lesson to the man seemed to only set the situation more on edge, which was surprising to you. He wasn't de-escalating, he was...antagonizing. "Is it standard practice here that any chakaaryc is allowed to carry a blaster?"
"A-Any...what?" The man asked confounded by the word he didn't understand, using his other hand to stabilize the blaster now as Tech approached closer to him.
It was normal for the Batch to use their Mando'a around one another, though they didn't use it much around others outside the GAR and even you didn't understand the language so you never paid attention to the words. Though now you were silently cursing yourself for not studying it, wondering what it was that Tech said.
"Di'kutla," Tech's voice lowered to a tone you hadn't heard him use before, it sounded almost...dangerous, "It is a Mandalorian translation for a filthy low-life, such as yourself."
"Why you!" The man's finger began to push the blaster's trigger and you felt your heart drop, stomach-churning, until you blinked and nearly missed the effortlessly elegant way Tech disarmed the man of his blaster. Crying in pain as his hand was bent backward while Tech placed the rogue blaster in his belt after switching it off, the man spat curses at the trooper. "She's just a whore, man! What's your big deal?!"
At the man's insistence on your status, Tech furthered his grip, causing him to yell out, Techâs stoic composure- in contrast- never faltering. "I believe I have heard quite enough from you, mir'sheb."
"But-" Interrupting the man's argument, Tech's fist connected directly to the criminalâs face in a surprising display of brutality, effectively silencing him- and bloodying his nose.
"I said enough."
Standing in absolute awe of the current events, you were speechless, and before you could muster anything to say you watched as Tech yanked the stumbling man toward you by the grip on his wrist. "Forgive my lack of decency, mesh'la, though regarding his offense, this man owes you an apology."
"Tech, I-" You began, only for Tech to twist the man's arm behind his back and press him forward a bit harsher to which the man stumbled onto his knees, causing Tech to bend down with him, muttering apologies at your feet.
"Are you pleased with his display of atonement, cyar'ika?" Tech's honeyed eyes rose to meet yours, his tall frame bending over the man on the ground, refusing to let him free until you were satisfied. At your nod, he released his hold.
The man scurried to his feet and scuttled away as quickly as he could, nursing his wrist. Confusion washed over you as you glanced at the trooper, dusting off his hands and shuffling things around on his belt to make room for the blaster he had acquired. Once satisfied with his work, Tech met your eyes once more, adjusting his goggles nonchalantly. "Have you found what it is that we came to find?"
Still stunned by Tech's uncommon display of brute force and his complete willingness to act as if it has been just a normal day of the week, you stood there silently holding up the salve. "Wonderful, then we should return quickly." He sent a look around the sky to notice that it was dark now, "I am sure-" and as if on cue, Tech's comm link made a sound. Echo's voice rushed out with a stern use of Tech's name as soon as heâd answered it.
"Where in the galaxy are you two? I said to be quick!" The clone complained on the other end of the comm. Motioning for you to join at his side, Tech explained that you were momentarily disrupted but were unharmed and returning shortly.
While he spoke with Echo, you stared stupidly at the salve in your hand, replaying Tech making an absolute fool of the criminal. You'd never seen him react in such a way and you could feel your cheeks burning at how attractive the response had been to witness. What could've caused such a change in his approach? Of course, the Batch was known to be unconventional, so maybe Tech just thought the only way to dissuade the man was to use brute strength, but it just seemed like something bothered him. Could it have been when the guy insulted you?
A call of your name brought you back to the present, where Tech was standing in front of you, his hand extended. "Take my hand, please, it is quite dark. I do not wish to lose you in the crowd, it would seem this town is worse than I had originally read about. I will make a note to update the Republic's records properly." His hand enveloped yours delicately, pulling you closer to his side to guide you through the mass.
-
The walk back to the Marauder was quiet, your mind reeling from what happened. You were no stranger to difficult scenarios such as that one, so it wasn't as if you were scared just baffled.
"Stars! Finally, you two are back." Echo huffed in frustration as you emerged from the treeline. "Come on, we gotta get out of here. We're wanted back on Kamino for some new mission. Everyone else is already prepped to leave."
Tech merely nodded, saying something about how he'd set up the ship to be ready for the journey, and departed with a casual 'see you inside' as he let go of your name.
"What's wrong with you?" The accusation behind Echo's voice elicited a glare from you, none of this would've been an issue had he not forced Tech to go with you. You wouldn't be standing here struggling to erase the image of Tech decking a criminal right in the face. Replaying the sound of his voice when he demanded his apology to you for his insults...
This was Echo's fault. For sure.
"Tech punched someone, Echo." You explained with narrowed eyes to which the pale clone laughed as if the joke you tried to tell him was the funniest thing he'd heard. "No, I'm serious. He dropped this guy. He pulled a blaster on us and Tech just...punched him in the face."
"That's weird. Tech's not usually the type to-"
"TRUST ME," you raised your voice, "I'MÂ AWARE."
Echo started laughing again, "I told you that he had a soft spot for you, sarad." He motioned for you to follow as he began his ascent up the gangplank, and punched the closure button when you joined him.
-
Later into the night, while you lay awake in your bunk, you tossed and turned trying to quieten the memory from earlier though it was a futile effort. The thought was driving you crazy.
Why had Tech reacted that way? It was just too out of the ordinary for him. It seemed far more personal than he ever responded.
And Echo's comments about him having some sort of bias toward you weren't helping the racing of your heart.
So you crawled out of your bunk, making sure not to wake anyone up as you tip-toed up to the main hull where there were small sounds of tinkering echoing. Of course, he was still awake.
"Mesh'la," Tech commented as you walked in, surprising him. "You are supposed to be asleep, what are you doing awake?"
Flashing him a grin as you took up residency in the co-pilot seat across from him, you pulled your legs up close to your chest. "Much like yourself, Tech, I couldn't sleep."
Adjusting his goggles, Tech blinked a few times in consideration. "Well, are there any extenuating circumstances that are barring you from getting the rest you usually require? Such as Wrecker's snoring? Crosshair mumbling in his sleep? Echo has a bad habit of shifting a lot during the night, could it be that?"
Shaking your head at his list of options, you took a breath, "I, actually have a question."
A glance in his direction showed his brow raising in confusion. "A question for me?" Upon seeing your nod he prompted you to continue, setting his tools aside to give you his undivided attention.
"Earlier..." you began, nervously playing with the hem of your GAR-issued pajama shirt, "in the town." Tech's intent gaze spurred you to continue, though you were anxious about how he would take the question. He was always truthful, but would he find the question odd? Would he think it was a stupid question? "You reacted differently than normal." You pointed about, changing directions a little, instead of asking a question.
"I am obligated to point out that your statement is not a question, cyare. However, your assessment is correct. It is not my usual course of action to resort to physical altercations in such situations..." He responded evenly. "Though, this circumstance required a unique response from me." His added comment confused you even more.
"Why?" You inquired, eyes now meeting his.
Tilting his head to the side slightly, his brows furrowed as if he were the perplexed one now. "I thought it would be obvious." His simple response was mildly bothersome. Of course, it wasn't obvious! That's why you couldn't sleep!
"Tech, you have to remember, sometimes, some of us need you to explain what's going on up there in that exceptional mind of yours." You clarified as you tapped your temple, gesturing for him with a soft smile on your face.
It dawned on him then, that perhaps it probably wasn't obvious to you. Though he struggled to find how to put it into words. "I was required to respond irregularly because he had offended you. Pointing a blaster at me is less of an issue, one I am perfectly well adept at discouraging," Tech's voice was unchanging until he glanced at his hands and his tone dropped. "It wasn't until his unwarranted comments regarding you that I felt my common strategy of de-escalating was not suitable enough. Your virtue demanded more than my words to right the occurrence." His eyes were still downcast as he spoke, seeming...embarrassed?
"My virtue?" You repeated his term of use.
Nodding, the clone finally met your eyes, the emotion behind his brown hues causing the breath to catch in your lungs. "Yes. I will never allow someone to speak so disparagingly about you in my presence. You deserve far more from those who say they care for you."
The blue streaks of hyperspace highlighted the contours of his handsome face, highlighting his features. It seemed as if time slowed to a crawl between the two of you at his admission. Was it a declaration of love, no, but it still burned in your chest as if it had been. "You care for me, Tech?"
"Considerably so, yes." The speed and certainty of his response felt as if it knocked you against the seat, like your first trip into hyperspace, kicking you back. His honesty was staggering every time. "If I can be forthright, I find that I am more partial to you than even my brothers are. I have spoken with Hunter at length about why this may be. The solution we have come to at the very moment is," Then he paused for a moment, considering his words carefully, "that I have a romantic interest in you. The signs of psychical attraction I have are evident, or so I thought. I desire to be close to you as often as possible, and the ability to speak with you about things is a welcomed one that I look forward to regularly."
As you listened, the burning in your chest only worsened. Tech not only punched a man because he insulted you, but punched a man who insulted you because of how much he cares about you and your honor? And now he was telling you how much he'd cared for you? This had to be a dream.
"Forgive me if this is not the answer you were envisioning, however, that does not change the truth of the answer to your query." Tech finished with a resolute nod, though the emotion did not leave his eyes.
You sat there across from him for a while in silence, reflecting, assessing, and gathering, but once everything sorted itself into place in your mind you rose from your seat to stand before Tech. He'd always been so straightforward, so honest with you...he only deserved the same in return.
Your hands hesitantly reached out, testing the waters of his current mood. When he didn't pull away, you caressed his jaw on either side lovingly, tilting his chin up to meet your eyes. The astonishment in them betrayed his outwardly calm demeanor as you leaned down to graze your lips against his, a whispered 'thank you' tumbling from your lips before you kissed him.
As if your confusion and amazement had been transferred to him, Tech merely sat in his seat, numbly. However, as you began to pull away, his hand quickly reached out to rest around the back of your head to stop you from going too far. Brown eyes explored your face as if you were an illusion, "you captivate and baffle me," he breathed out in wonderment, pulling you back in for another kiss, "show me more, please."
Laughing under your breath at his request you lowered yourself into his lap gingerly, "I'd love to, but right now, I just want to kiss you a little more."

All Grown Up | Hunter from The Bad Batch
Summary:Â Many years after Tantiss and after having settled down in Pabu, Hunter struggles to watch his eldest to go off and join the rebellion. He returns home to the comfort of family awaiting him.

Pairing:Â Hunter x Fem!Reader
Type:Â Oneshot
Word Count: 1.8k
The gleam of the  silvery moon pierced through the dark blue skyline. The cool summer breeze swept through the entirety of the island, caressing wooden chimes hanging outside homes. The crickets were out singing songs to each other. The warm yellow light twinkled in the homes of many who where still awake during the late hours of the night.
With one last look of the island, Omega began making her way across the sandy beaches. She listened to the sound of the waves crashing gently against the shoreline; her shoes leaving prints behind in the sand. A few light breezes swept the loose strands of hair out of her face. She made her way into the lower caves of the island.
Coming up over the rocks, Omega's gaze landed on the spot in which her ship was docked. She neared one of the many generators in the cave, kneeling down and flicking the switch on. The warm light that radiated from the generator brightened her face and signaled the other generators to illuminate the rest of the cave.
A low bark sounded near one of the other generators. She lifted her head and smiled to herself, knowing that it was Batcher calling out to her. She briefly spotted another figure looming and sitting beside the old lurca hound, causing her heart to clench slightly in her chest.
Slowly, Omega made her way over to the both of them. The gangplank of her ship opened to reveal Gonky waiting for her. She rounded the side of the rocks, coming up behind the two.
"Thought you could just sneak off?" Hunter questioned as he stared off towards the entrance of the cave. The corners of his lips tugged into a gentle smile. "Time hasn't dulled all my senses," Hunter reminded her.
She lowered herself to sit down right beside him, watching him carefully with a hint of nervousness behind her eyes. She didn't say anything at first, but she had a feeling he was about to give her one of his famous talks. Sure enough, Omega was right about that.
"Your mother would have woken up worried sick about you, wondering where youâd gone off to this time," Hunter stated. His eyes focused on his hands that where clasped together.
"This shouldn't be a surprise. I talked with mum about this a lot," Omega defended herself.
Her words pained him slightly. In the more recent years, Omega had found herself seeking the advice of her mother more often than him. It had a lot to do with her age; having questions about womanhood that her mother was more than willing to explain. If Omega had gone to Hunter, the conversation would have just turned more awkward than anything. And sometimes, she was afraid to ask him in fear that he'd shoot her down pointblank.
It wasn't a surprise because he had heard some of their conversations late at night when the others had gone to bed. He recalled one conversation that happened just last week. She'd said something along the lines of: "Mum? What were the Clone Wars like?" Her mother proceeded to tell her what it was like to be a field medic during the height of the war. That, despite all the bad things, Y/n had found her purpose in life and wanted to help the war cause by tending to soldiers on the field.
Hunter just really wished she hadn't said that because they wouldn't be here now if she had.
"The Rebellion needs pilots now more than ever," Omega told him. She always had that drive to help others; she was so much like her mother in that way. "I made my choice, Hunter. I want to do more."
"And we want to keep you safe," Hunter countered. He finally turned to look at her. The worry was so evident behind those beaming eyes.
His strong sense of overprotectiveness was starting to show. It almost reminded her of what he used to be like when she was much younger: how he never wanted her to go on missions and how he'd force her to stay behind on the ship. She appreciated his concern, but it wasn't needed now.
"You have, but I'm not a kid anymore." Omega weakly smiled at him. She placed her hand on her chest. "You don't have to worry about me."
He wasn't satisfied with this, slowly turning away once again. He lowered his gaze to stare down at the ground. She continued to watch his movements carefully, wondering what he was thinking about in that moment.
"You're our kid, Omega. You always will be," Hunter said plainly. She smiled at this.
"Youâve got your own kids to worry about now," Omega chuckled slightly. She thought about her three siblings, figuring that they'd be fast sleep in their beds right about now and dreaming about things far beyond this galaxy.
"And you all make me feel like an old man," Hunter huffed with a playful smile.
"Well, you kinda are." Omega teased him by bumping into his shoulder.
When he turned his head towards the light, Omega was able to see just how much time had changed his appearance. His beard had grown out and his hair was sprinkled with grey. She saw the crows feet that bunched around his eyes when he smiled.
He was frail too. He wasn't able to play with his kids as much since last summer when he injured his back. He just moved a little slower now and wasn't able to do any heavy work around the house. He couldn't even remember how long it had been since they settled on Pabu all those years ago.
Pabu was home. Omega had grown up here. His other kids were born on the island. His family and his life was here. He wanted nothing more than to keep it that way. But Omega was moving onto newer things.
"Hunter," Omega sighed. She scooted a little closer to him and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You've all fought enough. This...is my fight. I'm ready."
Slowly, Omega rose to stand to her feet. He watched her move away from him with so much worry and concern in his eyes. He now realized that she wasn't his little girl anymore. She was all grown up and ready to have adventures of her own.
"Yeah. I know you are," Hunter sighed to himself. His lips curved into a soft smile. He shook his head slightly. "But I'm not."
Now, Hunter stood to his feet in a slow manner. His strength wasn't like it used to be. She didn't hesitate to step forward and embrace him in a tight hug. He wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin against her shoulder. When they pulled away, Omega placed her hands on his shoulders. She sent him a warm encouraging smile.
"Say goodbye to the others for me," Omega requested. She didn't need to give names because he knew she was talking about her brothers, her siblings, and her mother. He gave a single nod of the head before gesturing towards her ship.
"Off you go," Hunter had finally let her go.
By the time Hunter had gotten home, he was little surprised to see one of the lights on from his view on the street. He climbed the steps of the porch, opening the door as quietly as possible so he didn't wake the kids. His gaze landed on the familiar figure sitting in one of the living room chairs. He closed the door behind him.
"Hey," Hunter called out softly. He took a few strides towards her, kneeling down beside the armchair. He gently grabbed her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing the back of it. "How come you're still awake?"
"I could ask you the same thing," Y/n scolded him slightly. There was a twinge of annoyance in the tone of her voice. "I wake up to an empty bed and a daughter missing."
"Ah, yes. About that..." Hunter's voice trailed off. He quickly avoided her gaze and wondered how he was going to break the news to his wife. But his silence gave it away.
"She's gone, isn't she?" Y/n said rather sorrowfully.
He nodded silently in response. He fought against the tears that gathered in the corners of his eyes, but the light from the lamp illuminated them perfectly. She went to cup his cheek and sent him a weak smile.
"It was bound to happen some day," Y/n tried to reason with him. She shook her head at the notion. "She couldn't stay your little girl forever."
"No," Hunter agreed. "She couldn't. She's all grown up now."
Ever so slowly, Hunter rose to his feet alongside her. He took her spot in the chair before gently guiding her down to sit in his lap. He went to drape her legs over his lap and have them hang over the side of the chair. She wrapped an arm around his neck and leaned down to rest her head against his shoulder. He cradled her gently in his grasp.
The two parent's gazes fell on the wall where each of their children's height had been marked over the years to show their growth. There were countless tallies and dates, including both of his brothers' and the lurca hound's. They studied each mark as a reminder of how much each of their kids had grown over the years.
But Hunter's sights were stuck on a rather faded mark on the wall. He remembered the day like it was only yesterday. He loved seeing how excited Omega was to have her height marked on the wall; how Omega tried to stand as tall as she could while he used a pencil to mark it. Then, seeing over the years, her tallies had grown until she was basically his height.
"They're all growing up so fast," Y/n said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Maybe it's our sign to have another one," Hunter joked. She sent him a warning glare so he pressed a little further. "Come on. The littlest ones about five years old now. We're due for another."
"I told you I am done having babies. We've had three; that's a good number," Y/n swiftly shut down the idea of having another little one. She could think of a million reasons why that wouldn't pan out great. "We're getting too old for this. And with your bad back..."
"I know. I know. You don't have to remind me," Hunter chuckled softly, just loving how flustered she had gotten while talking about having a kid again. He pressed a gentle kiss to her check to calm her nerves.
The two of them swayed slightly in the rocking chair, basking in each other's presence. Their eyes set on the wall. The house's memories over the years came flooding back to them. The children's laughter was an ever present sound that brought the purest form of joy.
Their eldest daughter was all grown up now and out of the house. They remembered every single memory they made with her over the course of the past couple years. She had drastically changed their lives, but all for the better. And they wouldn't change a single thing.
LITERALLY AM OBSESSED WITH THAT FINAL SCENE OF OMEGA AND HUNTER. HAD TO WRITE MY OWN VERSION AND I HOPE YOU LIKE IT.

Mine
Here's my piece for the wonderful @isaidonyourknees for the @cloneficgiftexchange! So sorry it's a day and a half late! đđ
Warnings: Suggestive spice (nothing explicit), unwanted advances, jealousy, angst
--------------------------------------------------
"Leave me alone, Crosshair." The order meant to be snappish slipped out instead with a tired sigh.
"No," came the reply.
You sighed again as you felt him shift and sit down a few feet away. No more words were exchanged - the silence felt both peaceful, yet suffocating.
"Why are you up here pouting?" He finally spoke.
You glanced at him sharply. "I'm not pouting!"
"Yes you are."
"No. I'm not!"
He huffed dryly. "Sure looks like it to me."
"Hunter benched me!"
Crosshair shifted and sighed, "It's for your own good."
You scoffed, "And how would you know what's good for me?"
"You're exhausted. You're off your game."
"I'm fine. I feel fine."
He sighed again and you could practically feel him rolling his eyes. "That constant tapping of your foot and the way you're shaking tells me you're trying to run on stims and caf."
Now it was your turn to roll your eyes. "And how would you know?"
He was silent. "Because I've done the same thing."
"So that makes you think you're better than me?"
"No."
You crossed your arms, turning away from him. âIâm still not pouting.â
âSure.â
You glared at him out of the corner of your eye. âJust go away.â This time the words did deliver the sharp edge youâd wanted before, but now you werenât sure it was exactly what you wanted.
You didnât know what you wanted.
âFine, came the equally snappish response. Crosshair stood and headed back down the wooded trail. A sudden disappointment threatened to overtake you and a heat burned in the back of your throat as you tried to swallow it back.
âCrosshair waitâŚâ you called out, turning to face him as he paused and turned back.
âWhat?â
âIâŚâ You stopped. No. Crosshair had better things to do than to deal with emotions that you yourself couldnât even decipher. âNevermind.â
For a second he paused, almost as if waiting for you to once again change your mind. He shook his head and turned around once again, disappearing into the woods, leaving you on your own.
Fine. Itâs fine. Youâd asked for privacy and thatâs exactly what he gave you. Yet, it felt lonely nonetheless.
Crosshair was confusing to say the least. One moment it felt like he was trying to make an emotional connection, and the next he acted like he wanted nothing to do with you.
The roar of engines echoed through the trees from the base of the hill as the Marauder soared into the sky and disappeared into the atmosphere.
***
It seemed like forever ago that you'd met the surly sniper on a job. It was forever ago. So much had changed since a heated exchange of angry words led to a moment of heedless passion. One night. A romance ignited by the very intensity that divided you. The same fingers that rested pompously on the trigger of a rifle soon pulled through tangled hair and moved with purpose against your warmth. Tongues once sharp and taunting, now slotted through parted lips with desperate pleas for more.
And then it was over. Back to the cold realities of war. No words were spoken, only awkward avoidances and inverted eyes.
Talk to me, you'd wanted to say. Tell me what you want. Tell me what you need.
Perhaps that's all it was to him. Maybe you'd given him everything he wanted in that moment. Maybe that's all you were to him - a distraction - a soldier's relief from the stress of a never ending war.
You'd wanted to say something but the words wouldn't come. Then the galaxy changed and as the Republic fell, so did your hopes.
And now after so long, he was back.
***
It was nearing dusk before you finally pushed yourself from the ground and headed back down the path.
Fueled by a growing sense of hunger and the need to be around others, you found yourself walking towards the local cantina.
The music blared from somewhere above, pumping a bass that rattled your bones.
Despite the club-like atmosphere the lighting was dim, illuminating the same bar scene that haunted almost every planet in the galaxy.
The air was thick with the scent of spice and the sound of raucous laughter. You sat at the bar, nursing a drink. Despite the bustle, it still felt lonely.
âHey there, sweetheart.â
Fingers ran across your back as you spun around to face the unfamiliar voice.
A large nikto smiled drunkenly over at you as he leaned against the bar.
âYou look lonely. You here alone?â
His breath reeked of alcohol. âYou're real pretty,â he slurred, reaching out to grab your arm.
You jerked away, shooting him a glare. "Back off," you growled, voice barely audible over the din of the crowd.
The nikto persisted, his grip tightening. "Come on, don't be like that.â
âDude,â you rolled your eyes, âleave me alone.â
He sighed, seemingly annoyed at your refusal.
âA pretty girl like you shouldn't be alone in a place like this. Let me at least walk you home, baby.â
âDon't call me that,â You spat, wrenching your arm from his grip.
His jaw stiffened as he stood up straighter.
âYou should be more grateful that I'm even giving you the time of day, bitch!â
Now it was your turn to stand. The nikto grabbed your arm again. Your fingers curling into a fist, ready to strike the stupid smirk from his drunken face.
"She's not yours to touch."
A familiar voice growled from behind as the niktoâs hand was wrenched from your arm with a cry of pain.
Crosshair.
What was he doing back already? You turned to face him standing behind you, expression dark and dangerous. His hand rested on the blaster at his hip, ready to draw at a moment's notice.
The nikto's eyes narrowed. âAnd who do you think you are, asshole?â
Crosshair glowered, taking a menacing step forward. âI'm the guy who's going to put an extra hole in you if you don't leave immediately.â
The nikto paused, unsure if he was bluffing or not.
Crosshair clicked the safety off, loosening the blaster from its holster.
"I'm not gonna ask you again," he said, voice low and threatening.
The nikto had enough. âGeez, okay fine! I'm leaving!â
Without another word, he turned and fled, disappearing into the crowd.
You stood silently watching as Crosshair stepped forward, his practiced eyes scanning every inch of you.
âAre you alright?â He asked, âDid he hurt you?â
You let out a shaky breath, âNo,â you murmured, âI'm fine.â A smile flitted across your face as you looked up.
Honey brown eyes stared sharp, pierced with concern and something else.
Jealousy?
âGood.â He replied. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something more but couldn't find the courage to do so.
But this time something rose within your own chest, warm and encouraging.
âCrosshair?â The words came timidly despite their bold intent.
He looked sharply, âWhat?â
âWhat did you mean by that? âShe's not yours to touchâ?â You asked. His hand, still on your arm, gripped a bit tighter, pulling you close. Something flashed in his eyes. It wasn't the hardness you'd come to expect from him.

Hi, Zoey! Are your requests open? I had an idea after watching Kenobi.
Thereâs a scene in Kenobi where the Inquisitors show up to a market place in search of Jedi. They throw a knife at the shop owner knowing that the Jedi hiding among the patrons will stop the knife from harming him. It would be interesting to see that with Hunter.
Maybe Hunter and Cidâs bartender have a relationship. Bartender was weary of the clones at first but warmed up to them and liked Hunter. They just started dating when Inquisitors show up. They use the knife trick on someone (maybe even Omega) and bartender is forced to expose themselves as a former Jedi.
Iâd love to see how Hunter would react to that.
oh oh oh oh... I got something in my head!
*Running in circles*
I actually had a scene like this in my head for a while now, I put the whole batch in there but focus on Hunter as a love interest.
Hunter x Jedi/Reader - One-Shot - The Things We Do For Love
Warnings: Angst/Canon Typical Violence/Blood/Fluff
No one knows about your past with the Jedi order. You are forced to drop your cover, when you try to save Hunter's life.
_______
Ko-Fi (If you feel like giving me some coffee)
_______
It's strange, life after Order 66 - hiding, pretending to be someone else. And it doesn't get any easier every day as you'd hoped, at least not at first. Cid's Bar, that's where you ended up at some point. You work behind the counter. You serve all kinds of strange clientele. Cid's Bar is like a meeting place for all kinds of scum in the Galaxy. Life has changed, a lot. Priorities change. The code after you've lived so long is nowhere near as important as surviving and belonging somewhere so you're not completely alone in this universe. But you can't open up to anyone, not exactly the most decent people come and go here. So you keep a low profile. You even flirt here and there to keep up appearances, but at the same time, you keep everyone at a distance. And then, to make matters worse, these clones turn up. Automatically, every alarm sounds inside you. Order 66 flares up in your memory, sharp and painful. It takes so much willpower to stay calm, to not let anything get to you, so much trauma hangs in every thought of clones. No one knows who you are, no one even suspects that you were part of the Jedi Order.
And yet these men surprise you, especially one of them who leads the group. He is so thoughtful, so serious. Hunter always seems to be lost in thought, trying to keep everything under control, to ensure safety. He rarely leans back and really takes a breath. He's almost always worried and tense, you can feel it in the Force. But eventually, he thaws out, you somehow strike up a conversation, and you quickly learn how much depth and kindness lie beneath that brooding, skeptical exterior. Hunter can even be funny, very observant and above all else, he's decent, probably one of the most decent people to ever come and go in this bar. You catch yourself admiring him. Your eyes meet more and more often, you talk to each other more often, even flirt. But this flirting is different, it's not fake, it feels real, exciting and for you, with your past, completely new and almost reckless. You are both obviously interested in each other, just as you are both shy and cautious in a certain way. Weeks, even months go by before your hands touch for the first time, and he asks you out.
You can see it in his face, he can hardly believe it himself, hidden behind his smile is a nervous boy who is incredibly afraid of being rejected by you. The big, brooding leader has a great weakness, you. Of course, you say yes, you can hardly resist this special man, clone soldier or not, Hunter has so much good in him, he attracts you like a magnet, not to mention his good, bold looks do the rest.
It starts like any other evening. More or less. After your first date, Hunter usually comes into the bar smiling, automatically seeking your gaze as soon as he walks through the door. You can't help it, you smile back every time, accompanied by a warm tingling in your stomach, warmth rising in your cheeks and ears.
But something is different today. There is a presence in the room, dark, determined, hard as stone, surrounded by sharp edges. You sense this presence in the Force, its intransigence. You look around in alarm. The bar is a little busier today, your gaze wanders more or less inconspicuously around the room. Then you see him. You meet cold eyes, eyes as blue as sapphires, their gaze steely and sharp, so intense that you automatically lower your own gaze and distractedly clean a glass. But you know this person has already noticed you. Right now you're feverishly thinking about your next steps and how to get out of here alive without putting anyone in danger. Hunter frowns worriedly, watching you. He can tell something is wrong. Tech is talking to him, but he is focused on you right now. He leaves the table where he was sitting with his brothers and is about to come over to you when he hears a voice say clearly and distinctly, not shouting but loud enough, "CT 9901"
You feel hot and cold, a shiver runs down your spine, you're sure Hunter feels the same way, you can see it on his face. All the heads at the Bad Batch table look up in surprise, shock and alarm. Hunter turns to the voice that seems to be coming from one of the other tables a few meters away. A man suddenly stands up, slowly, unhurriedly, confidently. Like a predator who is sure of his prey, who has no reason to be afraid, no need to hurry. Neither you nor Hunter like the body language. What surprises you, however, is that this man, in his strange, dark uniform, is not looking for you as you expected, but obviously for Hunter and presumably his brothers. "All 99ers in one room, this must be my lucky day. And not only that, I feel like I'm getting a little something extra on top of that," the somber stranger says, his voice deep and clear, almost melodic.
The room falls silent, as if the presence of this man demands it. With a confident little smile, the man pulls a knife from his belt, the first movement is slow, almost sluggish, but the throw comes so suddenly that you barely have time to react. It has become so quiet in the bar that you could hear a pin drop. But when the blade suddenly seems to stop in mid-air barely a centimeter from Hunter's eye, a murmur goes through the room. You're sure you can hear someone whispering the word Jedi.
Hunter only lets out a quiet, "What the hell", he can't help but stare at the blade for a moment. He should be dead, he realizes, that vibro blade should have drilled into his skull, but there it is, hovering right in front of his face. Out of the corner of his eye he sees your outstretched hand, your concentrated gaze, and he begins to understand. You stopped the blade from killing him, you stopped it in its tracks. The stranger's cool voice draws you both back to him. "I knew I sensed a Jedi in the room, and I knew you couldn't resist to show yourself" In the next moment everything happens very quickly, there is no time to think, to process, to make plans. The man reaches out his hand, and you feel his grip on you in the force. You are swept over the bar counter, with a pull on your body, trough the force, knocking over two tables on your way to the floor. Everything around you happens in a haze, you hear Hunter cursing angrily, blaster shots, the distinctive buzz of an awakening lightsaber, screams from the other patrons. A red glow fills the room. The smell of burned flesh.
Your left side hurts. You landed hard on the tables when the Sith Force-wrenched you over the counter, maybe you cracked a few ribs. There are shards on the surrounding floor from the glasses that went down. As you try to pick yourself up, you accidentally reach in and cut your right palm. The pain is sharp, clear and distinct, bringing you back to reality from your surprise. You jump to your feet, skillfully, supported by the force that flows through and envelops you. It's been a long time since you've used the Force and your abilities in this way, but it's as if you've never let it out of your fingers, the lightsaber sliding into your hand, its blade glowing blue with its characteristic hum. Blood runs down the hilt of your weapon from the open cut on your hand, it burns, but you ignore the pain. You feel Hunter's gaze, he is still confused. He knows what you are now, but he certainly hasn't processed the news yet. At the moment, you all have other things to worry about. Did the Sith come alone? Are there Stormtroopers waiting for you outside the bar?
You concentrate on the force, on the intentions of your opponent. Everything you feel emanating from him is sharp, dark, glowing hot. He is driven by rage, and the moment your lightsabers cross, you feel all the hatred in his attacks, which are admittedly much stronger than you expected. You've never fought a real Sith before. The first touch of your lightsabers is like an electric shock, an incredibly hard impact, a wave of fury that seems to roll over you from your opponent. The hilt of your weapon is slippery with your own blood, you have to grab it hastily with both hands so that the sword doesn't slip from your grasp or your opponent will decapitate you. For a moment, Hunter's concern penetrates your perception, but you shut him out and have to concentrate. A quick exchange of blows follows, attack, parry, retreat, attack, parry... The handle of your weapon becomes increasingly slippery with your own blood. Then it happens, another hard blow, you parry, the impact of the blades causes your weapon to slip away.
You hear Hunter yell out, hear the shock in his voice, the terror in that simple word, "No!" His blaster lies on the ground, sliced in half by the Sith's blade. Hunter has pulled his knife from his belt in a split second, lunging in the Sith's direction. The blade of your attacker hovers just in front of your neck, you hold the Sith and his weapon in this position with all the strength you can muster with body and force. Your heart races, adrenaline flows through your body. There are only millimeters between your life and death. Millimeters before the red lightsaber could sever your head from your shoulders. Hunter reaches an arm around the Sith's neck and jabs his knife into his side. The sergeant's voice is dark and smoky as he rasps, "Not on my watch"
The red lightsaber goes out and falls to the ground. Hunter kicks it aside, away from the Sith's hands, and lets the mortally wounded attacker slide to the ground. You see Hunter's chest rise and fall, still electrified, while your adrenaline suddenly subsides and your hands begin to tremble a little. You concentrate on the force, your center, and banish the trembling from your limbs. With a sigh, you look at the man on the ground, who is taking his last breaths, his cold, sapphire eyes still looking up at you with hatred, but there is also reluctance in them, surprise, defiance. Echo kneels down next to him, feels his pulse. "Quite dead," he says dryly, and with a glance at your extinguished lightsaber, he asks, "Care to explain?" "Take it easy, Echo. I guess it's obvious why we're only finding out now, it would have been dangerous to reveal the truth," Hunter says calmly and steps closer, carefully grabbing your hand and looking at the cut.
"That needs stitching," Tech says with a sideways glance and adds, "I can do it when we get to the Marauder, we should get out of here, more will come" The others lead the way, Hunter and you follow at a slight distance. You can't quite believe it yet. CF99 accepts you into their midst, no ifs, no questions, yet. Admittedly, Echo is still a little skeptical, but he always is. But you're part of it now, you're no longer alone. The thought spikes a feeling of euphoria in you. "Looks like Clone Force 99 has its own Jedi now," Hunter says with a wry smile. You crack a smile, liking the idea, forgetting for a moment your bleeding hand and the drops of blood that fall to the ground and on your tunic. Crosshair, who is walking ahead of you, casts a jaunty glance over his shoulder and says dryly, "Just don't expect me to follow your orders, General." He says it with a wink, even if his words sound a little hostile, he is friendly to you, you sense his intentions in the Force.
You say quietly, "I wasn't going to give you orders, you have a working system as a group, I wouldn't dream of changing it" The Sniper laughs softly, "Clever Jedi" Hunter drops back a little, and you do the same, sensing that he has something to say to you. After a little while, on your way to the Marauder, he says seriously, "You gave up your cover to save my life, thank you" You chuckle and say softly, "The things we do for love" Hunter listens in surprise and asks, "So our dates aren't part of your cover?" You've opened up to him in the force, feeling his pulse, the tingling under his skin as if it were your own. "I would never play with your feelings, not even as a cover," you say seriously. Hunter breathes a sigh of relief and asks, "So nothing will change between us?" "I'd like us to continue our relationship and see where it takes us," you reply with a warm smile. You feel his relief, his affection, and you breathe a sigh of relief as well.
"That's what I want too," he says, carefully grabbing your hand and taking another look at the wound. "That looks really bad," he says, frowning. Wrecker comes rushing up and murmurs, "Now hurry up, or our Jedi will bleed to death!" Impatiently, he grabs you and lifts you off your feet to carry you to the Marauder. You make a small, startled noise. "Wrecker," Hunter says softly, admonishing. "What? The little Jedi got hurt!" Wrecker returns unperturbed and carries you to the Marauder. "It's just a cut on my hand," you say, waving it off. "It's bleeding a lot," Tech comments as Wrecker sets you down next to him and points at your stained tunic. Tech already has medical supplies ready, including a needle and thread, but first Echo cleans the wound. You grit your teeth, because the cleaning stings a lot. Echo says knowingly, "Don't worry, it'll be done in a minute"
Wrecker asks curiously, "Is the Jedi officially with us now?" Hunter sits down opposite you and watches as your wound is taken care of, he says, "I think so" "But I'm not really a Jedi anymore. There is no longer a Jedi order and I haven't been following the code for a while now, at least not to the letter," Hunter's eyes meet yours at the last words. Your heart beats faster as a smile twitches at the corner of his mouth. "We're not really regular clones either, we're not really soldiers anymore," Tech says lightly. Crosshair sticks a toothpick in his mouth and mutters, "Welcome to the defect squad, I have a feeling you'll fit in perfectly here"
