Not gonna lie, I took this one pretty hard. I had no idea I'd listened to Jim Price's last radio broadcast as a commentator for the Detroit Tigers. No kidding, I've probably listened to over a thousand games called by he and Dan Dickerson. I knew that he had decided he no longer wanted to travel so when the Tigers were on the road I never expected to hear him but I was really worried for his health when he stopped calling the home games. My friend Jesse told me the day it was announced. For years, Faygo, a Michigan soft drink, sponsored every single Detroit Tigers home run described on the radio, so Jim's duty after every Tiger hit one out was to say, "Every Tiger Home Run is brought to you by Faygo, Faygo Pop, making delicious flavors for over 100 years.". Jesse sent me the link to an article announcing his passing and added "Over 81 delicious years.". :) Jim Price would always describe a perfect curve ball pitch as a "Yellow Hammer". It turns out this is because Alabama's State bird, The Yellow Hammer Woodpecker has late darting away action on it's flight path, as does that of a perfect curveball. The ending to this short video tribute is especially beautiful. To explain, for years, any town that his radio broadcast partner Dan Dickerson would mention, Jim would describe as a "Nice Area". It just became this beautiful little silly running gag of Tigers radio broadcasts. He and his wife had an autistic child and consequently formed Jack's Place For Autism. One of my favorite Tigers radio broadcast moments was when Jim interviewed his wife about Jack's Place and, perhaps in an effort to seem more professional or to keep the focus on the organisation rather than their own interest and involvement in it, he addressed her as "Mrs. Price", and toward the end of the interview she had fun with that by addressing him as Jim. I listened to that interview in the office of Ace Hardware in Oak Park. Tigers Authentics told me they don't have any balls signed by Jim & Dan. I may see if Jack's Place has any up for auction. I feel I should have one. Like I said, over a thousand broadcasts. What I loved most about the game played the day his passing was announced was that it was dedicated to Jim and Miguel Cabrera made history TWICE that day. Jim used to always say, "It's history every time he steps in the batter's box.". On THAT day, Miguel became a top 20 ALL-TIME Hits leader in MLB's 100+ years history. He tied Tony Gwynn, then passed him and tied Robin Yount. I know Jim loved that. And the Tigers won one for him too.

so, about that baseball au? 👀
Tobias plays right field. It's all about those insanely long catches and those even more insanely long throws. He's fast and light, able to spot a ball in the air and be sprinting to intercept it well before it's even reached the top of its arc. Tobias can not only run and not only throw, but he can jump like nobody's business to intercept a ball in the air. He can't snatch every single home run that clears the top wall, but if it clears the wall by less than 12 inches, you bet that he'll be there making one hell of a grab to intercept it. What he lacks in power he makes up for with speed and accuracy.
Marco is their starting pitcher. He can coordinate and communicate, but more importantly he can be tricky. Marco's the classic ambidextrous change-up knuckleball trickster, not the fastest fastball thrower but an absolute expert in lying with his body about where the ball's going and how it'll be spinning when it gets there. Pitching is about dividing attention between the guy inching down the third-base line, the catcher throwing signals, and the batter getting into position. The ability to read all that, and to hide a fastball in a curved-looking throw, is where Marco excels.
Rachel bats cleanup. She plays center field as well, but her strength is in batting. Her greatest weakness is her greatest strength: she swings at too many pitches. That runs the risk of strikeouts, but it also means that she can sometimes turn a curveball into a double or even a home run. She's the power hitter, able to rocket pitches into the nosebleed section often enough that she sells more t-shirts than the rest of her team combined. That said, when all else fails she can also be counted on to make a sacrifice bunt.
Ax is on third base. It's a position that requires keeping a close eye on the batter and the infield all at once, managing the risk of steals while also being ready to intercept smash hits. Above all, being on third base requires being fast: able to grab a 120 MPH hit out of the air and wing it back to a teammate before there's even time for the runner to think about making it to first. Third basemen are likely to go overlooked, but they're crucially important for the defense of the whole infield.
Jake catches. It's the position most associated with being able to take punishment. Runners collide with you, pitches hit you, backswings can take you out, and your knees are shot to hell within five years. But the catcher faces the field, and the catcher has to communicate with the field. The main line of contact is with the pitcher, everything from requesting pitches to signaling an impending steal, but the catcher has to be able to shout to the field as a whole with a second's notice. The catcher is up and down, up and down, throughout the game, and the catcher has to decide judiciously when to argue with the umpire.
Cassie is their shortstop. Of course. This position is all about support, about being where your teammates are not so that they can focus on covering their own bases. Shortstops have to be flexible, to float between positions and play backup to the basemen and outfielders alike. Shortstops are the most overlooked, the least understood, the most likely to be dropped from Little League teams that are short on players. But an actual MLB team cannot function without a shortstop, because their ill-defined role is actually to hold the entire rest of the defensive team together.

As I awoke this morning I found myself troubled by a question: what positions would the main characters of the Wheel of Time play if they fielded a baseball team?
After much research and consideration, I believe I have my answer. Put your hands together for the starting lineup of the the Emond's Field Dragons:
Pitcher - Rand al'Thor. He's 6'6", which translates into a whole lot of leverage behind his fastball. Early scouting reports say he needs to work on his control, but once he does he'll be a force of nature.
Catcher - Matrim Cauthon. Catcher is a very demanding position, as they have to call pitches and position the infield. Mat's lifetimes worth of strategic thinking and his childhood friendship with the pitcher will serve him well here. In addition, the graceful movements of spear fighting may be an asset in framing.
First base - Perrin Aybara. This is the easiest defensive position, which means it often goes to the best offensive player. Perrin would have no trouble picking up the fundamentals of defense, but it's clear from the way he swings that hammer that his real strength is as a power hitter.
Second base - Lan Mandragoran. Above all else, a second baseman should be agile and have a precise arm, as they're the crucial hinge on which many a double play turns. That makes it the perfect position for a swordmaster.
Third base - Aviendha. Her training as a spearmaiden gives her the resolve under pressure to field a ball at third and fire it across the diamond to first before the batter can run the 60 feet to the bag.
Shortstop - Moiraine Damodred. Shortstops are sometimes called the "captain of the infield", responsible for tracking short-hit balls and coordinating the movements of their fellow infielders. Moiraine has experience taking charge in battlefield situations, and her warder bond with the second baseman turns the middle infield into a steel trap.
Left field - Elayne Trakand. Outfielders need to be able to cover a wide area quickly, and the left fielder additionally serves as backup for the third baseman. The lessons Elayne received as Daughter-Heir of Andor prepared her to juggle multiple responsibilities.
Center field - Egwene al'Vere. While center fielders may not direct their fellow outfielders to the same degree as shortstops, they are deferred to when deciding who will field a ball in between two outfielders' "territories". Egwene takes naturally to authority and would be comfortable making those decisions in the moment.
Right field - Loial son of Arent son of Halan. Fewer balls are hit to right field than left, so Loial would have plenty of time to smell the proverbial roses out in the literal grass, but when necessary he has the strength needed to get the ball all the way from deep right to home plate.
Designated hitter - Nynaeve al'Meara. Raw power, baby.
And the batting order:
Cauthon
Aviendha
al'Vere
al'Meara
Aybara
Loial
Damodred
Mandragoran
Trakand

Inked (Big Windup)
Tumblr media
Heyo! Guess who's back with Big Windup Content! :D I had this little ol' thing sitting in my WIP for weeks before realizing I should finish it up and post it lols, and here I am to do so! I hope y'all like it! :D
CW: Swearing
Cloud 9 (Taglist Peeps):
@cupcake-spice13 @intheticklecloset (I know you're not on the Taglist but BAM! Baseball tickles >:D)
Summary: Tajima after writing a massive "1" on Mihashi's back decides he should do it for Abe too. The other disagrees, leading to a rather giggly compromise.
“Hold still! Lemme write it!”
“No way! I told you I don’t need it!”
Tajima was back at it again, a black marker in hand as he tried once more to mark Abe. He figured the clean up hitter had let it go after a while, but nope- he was ever insistent on drawing a massive number “2” on his back!
“Why are you resisting so much? It’ll make Mihashi feel good!” Tajima was halfway to his target, eyes dancing as he flinched each way Abe tried to escape. “Don’t you want to be in a team with him?”
“I’m already in a team with him- I don’t need a number to prove it!” An opening had appeared! Abe made a dash for it-
“GOTCHA!” Tajima cried, leaping at him and sending them both flailing into the field. “Now hold still!”
“Tajima, I already told you, I don’t need a number!”
“Come on- think of Mihashi!”
“It’ll never come out!”
“It's an erasable marker! It’s good for clothes!”
“Tajima!”
“Oh okay- if you’re really against it.” Abe heard the marker being recapped, a small sigh of relief escaping his lips.
“Can I at least draw a “2” on you with my finger then? No ink, I promise.” Tajima asked, a clear puppy eyed pout in his voice. Abe closed his eyes as he pressed his face into the field.
“Give me the marker.” It appeared before him. Alongside a second one. Abe turned a bit to raise a brow.
“You always need a backup.” Tajima shrugged with a sheepish laugh. The catcher rolled his eyes before flopping forward again.
“Fine. But JUST with your finger. My mom will be pissed if I come home with sharpie ink all over my uniform.”
“I told you, it was erasable! I only use a sharpie for Mihashi.” Tajima giggled as he got comfortable, sitting up and positioning his finger. “Ready?”
“Sure-” Abe got out before immediately wincing, startled by the tingling sensation of Tajima’s finger running down his spine. “Mm! T-Tajima, lighten up!”
“Does it hurt?” The cleanup hitter asked, doing so. To Abe’s dismay, it only made it worse.
“N-No it ti-ihihihiihckles!” The catcher yelped before dissolving into laughter, fists curling against the grassy field as he kicked out a leg, trying his best not to throw the other off. Maybe all that time spent with Mihashi made him more accepting to tickles? “Tahahajima, huuhuhurry uhuhuhup!”
“No way..” Tajima gaped down at him with wide eyes. Then he grinned. “Did I just discover a new tickle spot on the Abe Takaya? How lucky am I?”
“Doohohohn’t say my nahahame like thahahhat! Gehahaha, if yohoohu’re dohohone, get ohoh-EEHEHEH!” The catcher arched even more when Tajima switched from tracing to scratching, dancing one finger up and down the invisible “2” he drew on his friend’s back. “Doohohohn’t doohohohoho thahahhahat, yohohoohu ahahhahhahass!”
“What? I gotta fill it in! Can’t go around having a outline- no one will be able to distinguish it from a number or a pe-”
“Iihihihihihit’s nohohohohohot ehehehehheven viihihihihihisblehhehehe! Whahahhat doohohohoes it mahahahhatter if ihihihihit’s fiihihihilled in? Nohoohoh ohohohone’s gohoohhohonna knoohohohow!”
“I will! And I’ll always be haunted by my unfinished work! Be still- my canvas; the artist is at work!” Tajima doubled his scratching, increasing Abe’s giggle fits and yelps of laughter tenfold. “Now that the actual number is done, let’s add some color!”
“TAHAHHAJIIHIHMA!” The catcher all but shrieked when his ribs were suddenly grabbed, fingers pressing in at both sides. “WHAHAHAT HAHAHPPEHEHED TO THE NUUHUHUMBER?”
“Relax, I’m getting my pens! They’re somewhere in here…” Tajima continued to “search” for his pens within Abe’s ribcage, narrowing in on the terrible spots along his upper and lower sets just to keep him laughing. “Man, I really need to organize this space better. They’re all over the place in there! Abe, you gotta stop moving so much; the pens keep rolling away!”
“STHAHAHP FUHUUHUCKING TIIHIHIHCKLING MEHEHEH THEHEHEHEHEN!” Abe cried, thrashing like a fish out of water as his worst spots were drilled into. Above him, Tajima giggled like a child, delighted.
“Oo, you’re saying bad words! Bad Abe! Hehehe!” Finally, Tajima pulled his hands back, returning to his spine as he finished putting the last few touches onto his “design”. The tickles died down to a comforting amount, leaving Abe coughing through giggles as he caught his breath. “There we go..and done!”
The catcher let out a huff of air as Tajima climbed off, far too tired to get up and chase him. Around him chatter continued, the boys laughing over the sight or carrying on with whatever conversation they were having prior. Footsteps shuffled into view soon, coming to stand before him.
“A-Abe..I erm, brought you this..”
Something cold and paperlike touched his hand. Abe all but shot up at the water, taking and downing it in one greedy gulp. “You’re a lifesaver, Mihashi.”
The pitcher squeaked with shy pride, cheeks warming as he smiled at his hands. “I’m glad…and erm- I’m sorry about Tajima..I didn’t think he’d try to erm, you know…”
Ah. Abe resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he looked at the markers left abandoned in the grass.
If ONE uniform was kinda stained, maybe his mom wouldn’t be too mad…
“Go get Tajima.” He sighed in resignation, making Mihashi squeak in surprise. “Tell him to use an erasable one, cause if we can’t get it out, I’m kicking his ass.”
“Oh..Oh! Oh, erm- okay!” The pitcher nodded, practically vibrating with joy as he ran to get said clean up hitter. Shaking his head, Abe fell back onto his stomach in the warm grass, accepting his fate.
If it made Mihashi do his best, then let him be inked.
Thanks for reading!

DREAM CATCHER — genshin smau
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LYNEY — 21. lead singer. played the trumpet in band all throughout school. took vocal lessons for years and eventually decided to start a band as a last ditch effort to save him and his siblings. it worked out beautifully.
LYNETTE — 21. backup vocals and bassist. played clarinet in school. followed lyney with whatever he did, landing her a place in the band. doesn’t really care for music, but it brings her closer to her siblings, so she’s happy nonetheless. is very grateful that the band took off like it did.
FREMINET — 19. drummer. always had a passion for music and wanted to pursue it. eagerly jumped at the chance to be in a band with his siblings. the main songwriter and lyricist for the band. the band would not be what it is without him.
YOIMIYA — 23. guitarist. also a songwriter, works a lot on songs with freminet. spends most of her time with him since they bounce ideas and inspiration off of each other and get along very well despite their vastly different personalities. auditioned for the band.
Tumblr media
masterlist!
summary: traveling the world with your rock band was a dream come true after the intense work of releasing an album. however, when tensions begin to rise between you and xiao, the band is at risk of falling apart— and it certainly doesn’t help when kuni makes the situation worse by confessing his feelings.

Pokemon Card of the Day #3197: Eevee & Snorlax-GX (Team Up)
Tumblr media
Eevee and Snorlax-GX, while a somewhat odd combination of Pokemon that would become rather typical of the era, had some interesting attacks. It was good at punishing anything that evolved and had a GX attack that could get a huge hand refreshment. These attacks required a ton of Energy, so you had to accelerate to it. The nature of this meant that you had to pair this with something that was going to have said acceleration quickly, had a Pokemon that could attack well on its own but would like the backup, and something that could sometimes run lower on cards to maximize a potential draw at the right time. This typically meant running this in a Fire deck, and only in SUM-On because that was where a good amount of Evolved Pokemon at under 240 HP were still common.
270 HP was where you'd want a Tag Team to be at, and that was a lot of bulk to get through. Its main job was to be a huge pain to things like Zoroark-GX, which couldn't even KO it in 2 hits without some help. The Fighting Weakness could potentially come into play a little, as while the type had fallen off quite a bit, Lycanroc-GX was a Stage 1 that could actually hit really hard. The Retreat Cost here was 4, meaning you did have to be careful here. Getting ahead on Prizes meant an unprepared Eevee & Snorlax-GX was easy bait for anything like a Counter Catcher, or at any point a Custom Catcher.
Cheer Up was an attack that did no damage for a Colorless Energy, but it did let you attach an Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokemon. You could use this if you didn't have anything better to do, but you'd normally want something else up front if you didn't get stuck starting with this. It was, at least, better than nothing on turn 1 if you were going second.
Dump Truck Press started at 120 damage, but it cost 4 Energy. The price was too steep unless you had the second effect. That effect involved doing 120 more damage if the opponent's Active Pokemon was an Evolution Pokemon. This meant a KO on the top choices out of those in the SUM-On format, including Zoroark-GX and Persian-GX. The issue was that any Basic Pokemon, including Tag Teams, were taking a lot less, so it was a huge match-up play. In the right match-up, it was great, but it was kind of stuck in one format.
Megaton Friends GX had some good moments. It was costly, as 4 Colorless Energy meant you were still leaning on Welder a lot here, and it was your one GX attack. That being said, you did 210 damage which was usually enough for the role being played here, and you also drew cards until you had 10 in your hand. This set you up nicely for your next turn as well as long as you didn't immediately get hit by a Judge. Usually you'd be okay though, and even if not it tended to force that play instead of a different Supporter.
Eevee & Snorlax-GX was a backup option in Reshiram & Charizard decks for the most part. Reshiram & Charizard-GX performed rather well against a lot of things, but Eevee & Snorlax-GX cleaned up Stage 1 Pokemon so well that it was often brought along too. Having a copy or two was reasonably common until the game shifted almost entirely to Tag Teams, and while a few Evolved Pokemon came back later in the Sword & Shield era it never found a great home partly due to higher HP numbers. It sure had a few good months, though, at least in that one deck.

I'm just getting into the Blue Jays after moving to Toronto this summer. Do you have any good blog recs? Not sure if you are also a Maple Leafs fan but would appreciate any for them too. I want to be a part of something.
First off, I'm so sorry I took so long to answer this!!
Second, welcome to Toronto!!! I hope the move was smooth and you've settled in as best as you can. Getting into sports is a fantastic way to connect to the city and leafsblr and jaysblr are a great way to get your foot in the door!
I honestly wanna tag literally everyone I follow and interact with because they're all absolutely wonderful and welcoming people. At risk of leaving people out or overlooking anyone, I'd say first and foremost check out everyone that I reblog stuff from. Most, if not all are jays AND leaf fans so you can't really go wrong with any of them!!
I'll tag some below kind of by general blog content. Some post about other sports, most post about other teams and things. Some in the Blue Jays category post about the NHL, but not the leafs and vice vera, so it's not all cut and dry haha.

Make no mistake about it. Even before the string pullers announced Biden would run for the Presidency in 2020…
They knew he was senile and demented.
Therefore, they knew the pick of his VP running mate would be all-important, because he might have to step down from office and retire to his back porch and stare at the sun.
They chose Kamala, who would be a clear and present danger if she were a dog-catcher in a small town in the desert, much less the inheritor of the Oval Office.
So it was staring them in face way back when: Kamala could become the President. They made that move.
The backup scenario: Trump would run in 2024, after losing to Biden in 2020, and he would beat whacko Kamala easily.
Trump would become the moral equivalent, for the armies of woke crazies, of the cop who (supposedly) killed George Floyd.
Enter: national chaos. Goal: make it impossible for Trump to conduct his Presidency.
We’re more than half-way to that possibility.
Kamala is the patsy:
