Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and how “ability users” (opposite to “normal people”) learning to accept themselves through the acceptance of their own abilities is a queer metaphor of acceptance of own's sexual orientation and gender: an essay by me
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#About: Dead Apple. Watched this a while ago with a friend and it was a lot of fun!!!#If you're reading this: thank you so much for hanging out with me I had such a good time (ㅅ´ ˘ )♡#Next to general considerations: wow they were right that Bungou Stray Dogs movie sure can Bungou Stray Dogs#It's always nice to see the detailed animation and elaborate backgrounds of movies. The animation quality compared to the manga is–#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated#I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg#but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka#and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb#Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin#and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. Firmly stand by the belief–#that only Akutagawa would find that form attractive.#Oh last note. honestly if we're ready to accept a movie where an antidote has effect AFTER the person has effectively died then we really–#can't complain about any kind of insanity the manga brings up#random rambles

please call my name. [中也] chuuya nakahara.
he's there for you, no matter the day or time, he'll be at your beck and call; even if you don't ask for it.
t.w : depression? burning out, vulgur language, just reader being tired of living.
Another excruciating day to get through, it's definitely not like you don't have enough weight on your back anyway. As a groaned muffle nuzzles against the comforting warmth the pillow provided you for your nights at your apartment, you had to abandon it for the day.
What a pain.
The scents of sweet dreams coaxed back to you, begging you back on its field of roses, but your body subconsciously moved to try — to prove their worth, to do their job, what's the point of their job if they don't even do it right?
Lazily, you trudge over to the sink, slowly squeezing out the toothpaste from its container onto the toothbrush; lethargically brushing your teeth and attempting to brush your hair in a way at least presentable.
You were a fashionable one, but today you weren't feeling like it, so you just slipped on the first outfit you found okay-ish in your wardrobe.
All actions are done in a half-asleep manner, no one — not even you, would be surprised if you didn't look as neat as the mirror reflected with blurry eyes gazing at it.
Exiting your bedroom, you are met with the sight of a short ginger lounging on your living room sofa. The one you're so very familiar with. How could you not? You could recognise those bleu céleste eyes even if you were on your last breath.
Speaking of the one and only Chuuya, he seemed to make himself at home, one leg over the other whilst sitting on your couch, the faintest sound of the television casting a romcom in it in the background as his eyes travelled over you. Frowning subtly when he saw the eyebags underneath your eyes, and how you didn't look even remarkably close to the enthusiastic person he knew you were.
Wait, how'd he even get into your house? Ah right, you gave him a spare key, but that brings another question to your mind —
" Chuu'? Don't you have work today? "
The words leave your lips almost without your own will, the blank look on your face causing Chuuya to dryly chuckle.
" No, not anymore at least. You've been clearly down for the past few weeks, overworked, not showing up to our dates — even more, because you're over the moon at the smallest amount of time you spend with me, "
The words weren't meant to be cocky or arrogant, it was the truth. Considering how busy both of you are, you both are equally elated whenever you two get to spend time together, no matter what you're doing.
" So, I've decided to take a day off for my doll, we can stay home, do whatever the fuck ya' want, just spend time. Would you like that? "
Chuuya asked, but both of you knew there was no other way out, he was a man of his word after all. A smile, which seemed rare after its long-term disappearance, appeared on your lips. A sigh escapes your body, treading over to your boyfriend as he smiles marginally at your submission. He wraps his arms around his beloved's body, whispering coos in his low voice as he brings you to sit on his lap.
Oh right, you had work, and you still didn't tell them that you wouldn't go at least. Either way, the exhaustion caught up to you, and you failed to argue any further, letting Chuuya carry you around for the rest of the day, treating you as a princex to be cared for.
With him around, you can let your insecurities loose and worries dissipate.
author’s note : back from the dead back from the dead I'm back from the dead back from the dead /lyr /ref with that out of the way... hope you all are doing great! I've been through a shit ton for the past few months, that's no excuse to slack off though. so, i hope to supply you with more fanfics of sorts; this fanfic is rather ahaha.. self-indulgent, hope some people can find a tinge of comfort in it.

You heard the soft and steady thrum of music coming from the other side of the threshold as you unlocked the door to your apartment, releasing all of the tension in your shoulders. It was a Saturday night, and you’d been away from home for almost a week, low on sleep and energy. You felt like you were one step away from falling to the floor and sleeping in the middle of the hallway.
It was just after midnight. You’d had a hotel room booked for the night, but when your job finished this morning, you’d hopped on the earliest train back to Yokohama, desperate to be back home.
The scent of freshly burned candles instantly washed over you, and the further you stepped into the apartment, you realized the only source of light was coming from the waxy flames. The curtains had been drawn closed, though a sliver of moonlight filtered through the cracks, shimmering over your couch like a beacon.
You dropped your bag on the floor, throwing your keys onto the side table. “Chuuya?” He was definitely home. It was cool in the apartment—he always turned it down much colder than you preferred. “I’m home.”
You waited, and after a moment, received no response. The relaxing piano filtered down the hall; it was likely too loud in the other room. He wouldn’t be able to hear you.
Tiredly, you kicked your shoes off, slumping down on the sofa as you indulged in the classical music.
The tune lulled you into relaxation, and you closed your eyes, feeling beautifully soothed. In your wearied state, you couldn’t help but drift off to sleep, falling into a dream as you let your body sink deeper and deeper into the couch cushions.
Minutes later—though it had felt a lot longer than that in your exhausted state—you were shaken awake, a gentle voice calling your name.
“Hm?” you blinked your eyes open, wondering how you could’ve fallen so quickly into a deep sleep. “Chuuya?”
“What are you doing sleeping out here?” he asked with a quiet laugh, tracing your cheek with nothing but his fingertips. “I didn’t think you’d be home this early.”
You yawned, snuggling deeper into the sofa. His hand was warm against your skin, and you leaned into it, threading your fingers with his own. “I didn’t want to wait until tomorrow to come home.”
Chuuya’s smile widened, his teeth showing through. “You should’ve called me.”
“Wanted to surprise you.” Never before had it felt so impossible to keep your eyes open, even as Chuuya bent down to kiss you on the forehead, dragging his mouth down the bridge of your nose until it was ghosting over your own lips. “Now I’m too tired.”
He laughed, the sound warm and so much like home. Hair tumbled over his shoulder, tickling your face as he bent over you. “I can see that.” He tugged your arm, trying to pull you to your feet, though you were dead weight, glued to the couch. You fought against him, grunting out a sound of displeasure.
“I don’t want to get up,” you said, but Chuuya still managed to pull you into a seated position as he stood, straightening his back. You fell forward and rested your cheek against his hip, the sharp bone poking into the thin skin around your jaw. He smelled clean, and the aroma of soap was freshly scrubbed into him. Chuuya must’ve been in the shower when you’d arrived. “Too tired.”
“Come on, sweetheart. You can’t be comfortable in those clothes.” He ignored your protests, scooping you up off the couch like you weighed nothing, and carried you back into the bathroom.
You closed your eyes, barely processing the action of being held above ground, everything experienced through the haze that came with days of minimal sleep. You weren’t sure how much of your weight was held up by his own strength, or if it was his ability assisting him.
Chuuya’s t-shirt was soft against your cheek, and you could hear the steady thump of his heart through the ribcage, just inches below your ear. You smiled to yourself, caught in a sleep-deprived state.
He turned a lamp on, sitting you on the bed as you gazed after him with half-closed eyes.
“Love you.” The words were saccharine, dripping from your tongue with the sickness of adoration.
He was, briefly, caught off guard as he sorted through your dresser for a fresh change of clothes. Though you had said it to him more than enough times, he always froze like it was the first, the smile only slowly appearing. His eyes morphed into the shape of hearts, every line in his face softening. “I love you too. I’m glad you got home safe.”
Chuuya came back over to you with the clothes in his hand and took his time gently peeling your dirty shirt from your skin. As carefully as he could, he swapped the clothes you had traveled in for pajamas, and you stared back at him sleepily, wondering how you’d gotten so lucky. Before he finished his task, he made sure to rub in your favorite lotion, massaging the muscles that had grown tight and sore from the assignment.
Finally, he scratched his fingers into your scalp, and you relaxed, slumping back onto the bed. Just as you thought you were going to get to drift off into another peaceful sleep, Chuuya had shoved you back to your feet disgracefully.
“Chuuya,” you whined as he tugged you into the bathroom with determination. “I want to sleep.”
“You’ll be mad at me in the morning if I let you do that.” He rubbed small circles into your wrist as you stumbled after him, feeling like you weren’t attached to your feet at all. Though the light was dimmed, it still felt like a bright fluorescent against your retinas.
“Sit,” he said, gesturing to the counter.
You sighed loudly, making sure he knew exactly how much of an inconvenience this all was. Still, you did what he asked of you.
As you watched with drooping eyes, Chuuya gathered the products for your nightly routine, omitting the ones he knew you wouldn’t mind missing for a day. Then, he gently scrubbed your face, running a cloth over your skin before getting all of the soap completely off.
“I feel like a baby.” You leaned back against the mirror, but even with your comment, you didn’t protest when Chuuya massaged moisturizer into your skin, taking care of you with focused eyes. His cool, slender fingers felt nice against the tension of your jaw.
“Do it yourself, then.” He stopped, momentarily, before laughing quietly.
With your eyes closed, you poked your tongue out at him. “Don’t want to.”
“Yeah.” Chuuya leaned forward to press his lips against your own, the hint of wine lingering on there as usual. He pulled away much too soon, leaving you trailing after him without a conscious thought. “That’s what I thought. You just relax and look pretty for me, okay? Shouldn’t be too hard.”
Despite your annoyance, you smiled, feeling much too pampered, even when he shoved a toothbrush into your mouth, scraping each crevice with practiced care, poking your cheek in amusement. You spit the minty taste out to rinse your mouth, finally slumping your head against Chuuya’s shoulder. Drained, you closed your eyes and yawned heavily, looking forward to a good night’s rest more than anything.
“Can I go to sleep now?” you asked, and his body shook with laughter, fingers dancing patterns across your spine.
“Sure, baby. Come on.”
Once more, he pulled you to your feet, but you went with ease, knowing that there would finally be some relief at the end of it all. The bed was a welcoming haven, the mattress softer than you’d remembered. The pillow felt like a cloud when you finally closed your eyes, humming out a great sigh as you settled down.
Chuuya made his way across the room and finished getting ready for bed before finally turning off all the lights and blowing out the candles. Somehow, you’d managed to stay awake until he’d crawled into the bed, sneaking up behind you.
“Thank you,” you said quietly as he wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into his usually warm body. He pressed a kiss into your spine, squeezing you against him.
“Well at least you’re being sweet about it now.” He groaned, but you could hear the underlying humor in his voice, knew he was only joking as he snuck two fingers under your shirt, rubbing circles into your side. “I just wanted to help, and all you did was complain.”
“I wanted to go to sleep,” you explained, and he snorted, snaking a knee between your thighs.
“Right,” he scoffed. “If you’re so tired, then why are you still talking to me?”
You only groaned, pinching his arm to keep him from making any more comments. “I was waiting for you." You dialed up the charm in your voice, silky with sleep. "I missed you, was all."
Though he huffed, he buried his face into your back, breathing you in quietly. "I missed you too."
Chuuya kissed your shoulder before turning you on your other side, facing him. His features were barely discernible in the dark room, though his lips brushed the tip of your nose, his breath warm against your cheeks.
You smiled, shutting your eyes once more as you settled against his chest, holding his hand loosely under blanket. Another yawn escaped you, and you let it go without a care, feeling the edges of a dream take over you.

Hiii can I request yandere fyodor, chuuya, jouno and dazai with a childish s/o? Likes to prank people and act immaturely while also not understanding when enough is enough?
I myself have been called childish a lot too TvT idk what they're talking about, me are trés mature
I also don't write for jouno in fear I'll make him too ooc
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dazai:
•He's just as childish
•You both plan pranks on everyone
•Eventually, Kunikida doesn't let both of you near eachother, otherwise the ADA is on fire
•Sometimes even you manage to surprise him with your chaos
•He never stops you, though, he finds it amusing (unless it could lead to you hurting yourself)
•If you try to hurt yourself, he'll get Kunikida to scold you, and might even being up how bad it is while your both cuddling
•If you continue to hurt yourself during your stupid pranks, he'll kidnap you
•He can't have his poor Belladonna getting hurt now can he?
•He still lets you pull any other pranks on him, as long as no one gets hurt
•Ane if you make a mess, it's completely your responsibility to clean it up
*ੈ✩‧.+˚*ੈ✩‧.+˚*ੈ✩‧.+˚*ੈ✩‧.+˚*ੈ✩‧.+˚*ੈ✩
Chuuya:
•Chuuya finds your childishness annoying sometimes
•Your tendency to take things to far mixed with his anger issues isn't a good combination
•He finds some of your pranks amusing though
•He probably loses his temper when you take things too far
•But at the same time, theres nothing he lives more than your laughter, so he tries to hold in his anger
•But you definitely get yelled at if you take things to far, he's not passed beating you up depending on what you did
•Sometimes he lets you out to pull stupid pranks on Dazai
‧⋆ ✧˚+‧⋆. ✧˚°⋆‧‧⋆ ✧˚+‧⋆. ✧˚°⋆‧‧⋆ ✧˚+‧⋆.
Fyodor:
•He finds your childishness amusing
•well, as long as it doesn't get out of hand
•He finds some of your pranks to be funny... and others... he'll punish you for
•He doesn't necessarily want you to lose your childishness, it's just when you take things too far it's quite annoying
•But don't worry, he'll teach you, his punishments will get worse and worse the more you misbehave, it's only a matter of time before you learn
•and if you dont... well, have fun watching him torture your best friend to death
•You and Nikolai totally team up to piss him off a little (Nikolai protects you from whatever punishment he has in store)
•Nikolai probably ends up dead because he was jealous and pissed
•He won't punish you as harshly though since you were under the influence of some stupid clown, but you don't need Nikolai anyway! All you need is him....
•He allows you to play funny little pranks (eg. Changing his background to something stupid, jump scaring him (which you fail every time, which he finds incredibly entertaining), pretending to be a sheet ghost and coming out if nowhere, ect.) He finds your little giggles and whatever to be adorable

Streamer!Chuuya
Bungo Stray Dogs Chuuya Nakahara X Gender Neutral Reader Beginning Note: The stream clips are taken from RussainBadger on YouTube, he's really entertaining. Hint of Rockstar!Chuuya. Word Count: 1096 (Fluff/Little crack)
Of course, he’s very popular by the time he’s 22. All those streams about the new and trending topics eventually led to his popularity. Also the fact that he’s a rockstar, so that helped.
But back when he was 15, he didn’t have that reputation of a singer, and he started his streaming first before moving to a new occupation, but still maintaining the previous one.
He had very few viewers, and he was kinda cringe. But at least you were there!
(Background information now) You had befriended him in your freshman year of high school along with a guy named Dazai. The three of you had a lot of fun, the two guys always being chaotic and yelling at each other while you tried to calm them down.
Although you kinda got in trouble often, you still continued being stupid. You’ll grow out of it! (Debatable)
Chuuya had at some point expressed his goals of being a streamer or singer, so you and Dazai encouraged him to start with the former, so he did.
Initially, he did gameplays with commentary, but those games were first person shooters or anything online that included fighting in a team against another. Simply put, he raged a lot.
And now in the present, he still does, but it’s gotten a little more expressive since he doesn’t have anyone to scold him about what he’s saying aside from you.
He has a variety of content on his page now, like gameplays (still), just talking, random challenges, IRL streaming, etc. The different forms of entertainment really helps with maintaining his popularity.
Sometimes during streams, he would tell his viewers that he’s gonna do something for a minute until he returns. That minute is used to check on you.
“Are you hungry? We can order take out”, “You alright?”, “We can cuddle and watch a movie after I’m done”, all that is concluded with a kiss on your face.
You do like to mess with him sometimes. Sitting under his desk while he’s gaming and watching him (Just don’t screw his playthrough, he won’t talk to you for a while), going in his chat and sending a message (That shows up highlighted/on screen) about some chore he still has to do, and the like.
Anything harmless because you care about him and he appreciates that.
One time, you were making dinner and he suddenly started screaming loudly. You ensured the kitchen wouldn’t burn before knocking lightly on his door and asking if he was okay.
In response, he comes to the door and opens it a little. “Shit, sorry. Don’t worry, everything’s fine. I’ll make it up to you later,” and he takes your hand, placing a gentle kiss on it, then going back to his chair.
When he uploaded some clips of his stream to his channel on YouTube or the equivalent of the site, you saw that the reason for his scream was because he was arguing with a friend? And the microphone couldn’t capture the high volume so the yell came out quieter than it really was and the mic just cut off.
Another time, he was talking with his friends about something that had happened, and Dazai (who was playing with him, of course) just muted Chuuya’s mic midsentence. After that he went offline, ended the stream, and went to your shared bedroom to cuddle with you, pout on his face. He recounted what happened and you chuckled lightly, embracing him.
Eventually, his old streams from when he was in high school were found (He deleted the clips after saving them on a drive because they were precious memories) and uploaded.
The video included the time where he was playing a multiplayer game (Just Call of Duty, really) and there was an after death mic that allowed the dead player to say something for a second to their killer before respawning. The things he said included, “You’re so mean!”, “Hahah, pendejo!” (asshole in Spanish), “I don’t even wanna play anymore” (In a whiny voice. He said that to you and Dazai, but the mic was on.)
He barked at someone in the game results screen
At the discovery of his old streams, Chuuya panicked before laughing at them. Sure, they were embarrassing, but the comments loved it. He decided to upload the rest of his saved ones so everyone can enjoy them.
Akutagawa, his friend, sometimes play with Chuuya’s group, and when the former plays and does well, Chuuya just yells out “That’s my boy! THAT’S MY BOY! GAHDAM-” and he’s cut off. He’s a huge supporter for Aku and will cheer him on whenever he plays.
After his streams, Chuuya goes to spend time with you. It’s always wholesome and you both would never trade it for anything in the world. You scratch at his scalp while he buries his face in your chest, complaining about Dazai bullying him, or how he was getting dominated by the other players. He always has fun things to tell to you.
What you always love is that while on stream, he seems tough, loud, and in general very entertaining. But when he’s alone with you, no cameras or anything, he’s so soft and cute. Just your cute little boyfriend.
Although he can catch you off guard with his loudness, he always apologizes and makes you forget it. Despite the two of you sharing the fact that you’re both in a relationship, there’s still people prying into his life, wanting to know more. Chuuya did say that it may be uncomfortable, but you still have a large support system consisting of his fans.
A couple of his streams include you. Mainly the IRL ones, but you sometimes join him in his games. The viewers love seeing you two together and always request for more of you.
Sometimes, he practices with his guitar on stream, playing any requests from viewers, and you’re off to the side and out of the camera’s view. If there’s ever a romantic song, he dedicates it to you. A lot of love songs are asked for.
Going back to streams with Aku, he once had a coughing fit while on mic, and someone rigged it to have a voice effect. His coughs were so screwed up, it just sounded like a weird echo into the abyss.
Overall, he’s very fun to be with. You’re blessed to be the one he trusts to show his soft side to. Anyone who’s able to be his friend at least is lucky to have that title (at least in the present time).
End Note: Here are the clips used

His work partner, the assassin of the Black Lizards, is one of the few people able to sneak up on him; one of the single human beings in the world that takes him by surprise every time they speak. Gin speaks few words. The first time they meet, Gin sends him a dismissive look, tries to slit his throat, and glares when he evades the attack. It’s the start of the best thing in his life.
frosted mirrors; — ranpo & mori & fukuzawa, 11,104 words, incomplete
Ranpo Edogawa is thirteen years old when his parents are slaughtered. Saigiku Jouno is given worth only by his eyes. Pretty, astounding things, made to be looked at and little else, a trophy son - and the trophy son is losing his sight. Or, how Saigiku Jouno joined the Hunting Dogs.
taste of fear; — junichirou & the port mafia, 17,286 words
Junichirou Tanizaki is a background character. This, he knows; this, he's okay with. Everything can be handled by someone more capable, someone who knows better. When an ability interferes with his life in the worst way possible, he finds himself on the run from the Agency and the Hunting Dogs, with the Port Mafia as his safe haven. However, his salvation comes with a price: work for them, stay safe. The price gets steeper as the stakes rise, and Junichirou might die trying. His morality has always been a fickle thing, but in his search to reverse the ability, the world - the world being one remarkably cocky Tachihara Michizou - learns what Junichirou Tanizaki is truly capable of.
one-shots 1k-9k; —
of course, you asked (heaven abound); — kunichuu (and dazai), baseball au, 6,131 words
Doppo Kunikida is not the sports type; in fact, he’d rather make a habit of breaking into the library — which he does — than picking up any sort of ball for whatever amalgamation of catch sports come up with. It isn’t his idea to wind up as the sole catcher for the high school team in a small, dead-end town, but it’s his life regardless. Chuuya Nakahara, the way Doppo sees it, is the star that will go on to outshine them all. Chuuya won’t let his light skip over the one person he keeps close to him — but Doppo is starting to realize that Chuuya’s planning on bringing Doppo with him, too.
corruption bringer; — shirase & chuuya, 7,673 words
Chuuya Nakahara is a soldier. This is inevitable - wherever he is, he acts out a will that is not his own because loyalty defines him. The Sheep. The Flags. The Port Mafia as a whole. When he is eight years old, he is taken from a lab and he does not know that he is responsible for the destruction of a city. When he is twelve years old, he gets experimented on a second time to protect his family. When he is fifteen, he loses one family and gains another. At sixteen, he loses that one, too. His story is of loss and loyalty - of loss due to loyalty - and that trend threatens to continue in the worst way when he finds himself in London on a case. He goes to the one person who might be able to help him - the one person in the world who still calls him the King of the Sheep. Shirase isn't happy to see him. Chuuya just wants to avoid bleeding out.
guilt crowns (one by war & one by won); — tachigin, 3,672 words
When Michizou Tachihara gets home from a mission, finally, he's looking forward to catching at least a couple of hours of sleep. Instead, he finds himself on-call once again, and in a hotel in Tokyo, he finds himself sharing a room with one Gin Akutagawa. With the secrets they have between them bared in the open, silk nightgowns and guilt crowns, Michizou finds something close to serenity.
backstage altars; — tachigin, 4,609 words, contains sexual content
Between Michizou Tachihara's bad habit of trying to pass the time and finding a reason to justify what he does with his life - being a guitarist in a small band -, he accidentally finds his religion in the form of their bassist - Gin Akutagawa - when she rarely gives him the time of day beyond impulsive hook-ups. Unfortunately, change is on the horizon after their drummer Higuchi walks in on something she shouldn't, and Gin doesn't want to talk about it. As per usual.
fig tea accusations; — shin soukoku, 3,772 words
Look, Atsushi figures he should've known something was up when Gin tried to assassinate him while getting groceries; he doesn't know why he's getting the shovel talk from Kouyou Ozaki when he isn't even dating anyone. Let alone anyone in the mafia!
[ continued under the cut ]
starbound (we'll meet again); — kunichuu, 3,960 words
When Doppo Kunikida is seventeen, he goes out for a smoke on the pier and finds himself in the midst of a strange conversation with a Port Mafia-affiliated red-head with exhaustion as evident as beauty. Or, Doppo and Chuuya meet far before Doppo's employment at the Armed Detective Agency. Doppo's simply never put the pieces together of the two - the red-head with a flair for the dramatic and existentialism - being the same as the Executive of the Port Mafia.
familial ties (lost & found); — ranpo & fukuzawa, 3,396 words
Ranpo Edogawa is seventeen and alone on the anniversary of his parents' death. He does what any logical seventeen-year-old does when their grief threatens to drown them - steals Fukuzawa's sake since the man is out of town, and nearly drowns in his grief regardless. Fukuzawa takes everything Ranpo throws at him and comes back anyway.
the stages of a nightmare; — fukumori, 10,068 words
Fukuzawa Yukichi is no stranger to assassination attempts, or even assassination attempts made possible by strange abilities. That doesn't change the fact that it's inconvenient, often dangerously close to deadly, and often side-by-side with Mori Ougai. It's rather odd people always try to assassinate them both at the same time, but Fukuzawa deals with it as best he can when he falls asleep and wakes up in a world compromised of his worst fears brought to life.
all the while i've been locked inside that house; — tachizaki, 3,272 words, complete.
Michizou Tachihara finds himself scorned from the only two families he's ever had - which is how he finds himself staying at Junichirou Tanizaki's dorm room while he tries to put his life back together. Tanizaki seems to have faith in him. Michizou doesn't know why. They find their middle ground in the middle of the night when neither can sleep.
drink me down, save me later; — kousano, 5,736 words, contains vague sexual content
Kouyou realizes how much Akiko Yosano truly means to when Akiko brings up her stance on the matter during the only time Kouyou is vulnerable enough to talk about it - in bed.
symptoms of singularity; — soukoku, 6,922 words, complete.
Atsushi's day starts at five in the morning with an emergency call from Kunikida. The next three weeks proceed as follows: Nakahara Chuuya uses Corruption, Nakahara Chuuya dies, Dazai's status as a married man is known to everyone but Atsushi, and Yosano wants to know why she couldn't heal him fully.
ink traditions (similarity in memory); — shin soukoku, 3,823 words
The tradition Atsushi and Akutagawa have is one born at three in the morning in a hotel room in Sweden with a ballpoint pen and the exhaustion of a sleepless night. Atsushi has never claimed to be an artist, but he and Akutagawa - solace offers its wings when he can draw his pain away, when he can cover the living memories on Akutagawa's skin.
graveyard blues; — mori & dazai, 3,156 words
Mori Ougai plans meticulously for many things, but digging up an unmarked grave on a cemetery walk is not one of them.
stranger to stranger (i can find your way home); — chuuya & junichirou, 4,516 words
Nakahara Chuuya is surprised by little in his line of work, but his night is thrown off-kilter when he finds a twelve-year-old Tanizaki Junichirou wandering around Yokohama's docks at two in the morning. Like a good citizen, Chuuya returns him. He finds they have more in common than expected.
hey, i know it's late; — tachizaki, 2,293 words
Junichirou finds it hilarious that he's technically more of a delinquent than the mafioso he shares a bed with; naturally, this leads to piercing Tachihara's ears in the bathroom of his Agency-provided dorm with a safety pin.
from life to death, death to life; — mori & dazai, 3,350 words
Ougai Mori runs an underground clinic in Yokohama's slums. There's a particular boy that comes by, a stench of death following him whenever he visits. Ougai finds being a hero is not his specialty, but to save one kid, he has to save them all.
an easy kind of love; — chuuatsu, 7,499 words
Atsushi is rather confused when he finds himself in a mafioso's bed first thing in the morning, with no recollection of the night prior; and he's rather concerned when Kouyou Ozaki practically forces him into a fake relationship for the sake of... some reputation he doesn't care about. On the bright side, he gets to know more about Chuuya, and finds that falling in love was easier than he expected.
i find forgiveness in your devotion; — chuuatsu, 2,002 words
Love is foreign to Chuuya, and it's easier to lie to himself when he doesn't meet Atsushi's gaze, late at night with smoke between them.
homebound (my peace of mind is my piece of you); — tachigin, 5,608 words, complete.
Where there is never glamor in a life of betrayal and blood, Michizou has carved out a space for himself. Until Gin is severely injured after a mission, he doesn't realize she was always part of that space.
pigment of heartache; — fukumori, 2,156 words, complete.
As the Director of the Armed Detective Agency, Fukuzawa would like to consider himself strong-minded, if not stubborn and headstrong as he's prone to be when it's his subordinates in danger. Still, he's only a man, and after a drink too many he ends up on the phone with his ex-husband for, perhaps, the fifth time this month. It's getting old, yes, but he still has Mori's number and it's time that took them apart. Is it wrong to miss till death do us part?

dont translate, modify or repost my work. you do not have permission
[Name] was reading a book in her living room when she felt it. A cold chill ran over her entire body. The book in her hands fell to the ground as she sat up. Only once before in her life she had felt this feeling this strong, that’s how she knew it was bad.
She rushed to the front door for her shoes and jacket, and with a fast twirl she was at her destination. What she saw couldn’t be real. Fyodor had a metal pipe run through his body? A pipe? A sword? Something. And he was bleeding a lot.
At first glance [Name] did not realize where she was, but when she looked around it clicked, they were right outside of Mervault. Fyodor had escaped, but was now bleeding.
“Fedya!” she rushed towards the helicopter in a rush. If she were fast enough she could reverse what happened. A hand found itself at the back of her coat, pulling her backwards. “No!” She looked up, only to meet eyes with Dazai Osamu. “Let me go!” Dazai pulled her backwards again as she tried moving out of his grasp. She couldn’t teleport now, it would just take Dazai with her or he’d just cancel her ability.
“Let me go to my husband!” she screamed and trashed, “Please!” her hands were reaching behind her back at the strong hand gripping her jacket. That was it! He was just holding her jacket! [Name] quickly opened the zipper of her jacket and ran.
She reached the helicopter, scambling, almost falling over as her hands fell onto Fyodor’s wounds.
She heard him sigh. “I specifically told you to never cry over me, didn’t I?”
Somewhere in the background Dazai was talking. Something about uncertain cards, Fyodor’s weakness, allies. [Name] didn’t care what he was talking about, her husband was dying in front of her.
“Look at me.” he said, drowning out Dazai’s annoying voice. “What is your job?”
Her breath got caught in her throat, “Plan it out, make it work.”
“And for how many situations did we make plans to make it work?” Fyodor's purple eyes were staring deep into her own eyes.
“All.”
A new voice entered the conversation, this one [Name] knew. Chuuya.
“Do not shed tears over those who won’t be dead for long,” Fyodor spoke as he cupped her cheek with a shaking, bloody hand. “Go to your brother now, myshka. It’s not our end.”
Fyodor bent down a little to give one last kiss on his wife's forehead before ushering her away.
With shaky legs and tears streaming down her face she walked over to Nikolai who was standing besides Dazai.
“Don’t look so down! At least now I will be free from affection, dear sister!” Nikolai twirled his sister around, who was still silently crying as she watched her husband talk to Dazai.
They had predicted this. They knew there was a possibility of this happening. They had plans, it would be alright, but it still hurt seeing him die.
Eventually the helicopter took off and crashed, and [Name] let out a blood curling wail as she felt Fyodor’s sign of life disappear from her own body. Dazai gave her a pitiful look while Chuuya a look of disgust.
“Why now, beautiful, don’t cry. At least you’re rid of him now.” Dazai said as he knelt before her a few minutes later. Her mascara was smeared across her cheeks, together with tears and Fyodor's blood as her hands shook, also stained with her beloved's blood, her legs had given out not too long ago and her knees hurt from the fall.
“You killed the man I loved with my entire being.” [Name] sobbed, oh how she wished she could just rip this heart out and break it in two, make him feel what she was feeling right now. But that wasn’t the plan Fyodor and her made. She had to stick to the plan.
Dazai shrugged and stood up, bending back down to grab the crying woman from the floor. “Yeah well, from my perspective he deserved it. But I'll see to it that his remains get sent your way so you can give him a proper resting place, since you’re his wife. I give you my condolences, and since you are not responsible nor did you participate in your husband's actions, the Agency will give you whatever you may need to get back on your feet.”

A quick analysis of the new official artwork
Who would've expected haha Time for my first analysis of this year! As always, more underneath the cut ^^
To begin with, Fyodor and Dazai look beautiful here. I’m especially enchanted by Fyodor, because as far as I’m concerned it’s the first time we’ve seen him in colour while he’s wearing his usual outfit, but not his hat and he looks absolutely stunning. I’ve been wishing for a depiction like this and my wishes have been heard. He looks so comfy, I’m jealous. This time his shirt is also a turtleneck and now I have a theory that the shirt is for spring/summer and the turtleneck is for autumn/winter. Dazai of course looks beautiful as well, and I always appreciate it when Harukawa draws his shirt with details such as buttons.
My next observation is concering the screens. They’re obviously meant to represent the prison screens and who’s on whose side. On Fyodor’s side we have Nikolai who has this cheeky smile on his face that reminds me of that time when he asked Fyodor if he already had a plan, but it’s also a very typical facial expression for him, so I wouldn’t pay too much attention to that. Underneath we have Chuuya who has this eyes averted and I think it’s partially because he’s a vampire and partially because he’s not actually on Fyodor’s side. On Dazai’s side we have only one person and that’s Sigma who’s not having the best time.
For the 3 remaining screens I want to start with the 2 on Dazai’s side, because the top one shows a room being targeted and it’s most likely the drowning room as I like to call it (the room where Chuuya and Fyodor are currently drowning) and the bottom one is broken. Now, the broken screen could symbolize many things such as Chuuya leaving his side, but personally I think it’s meant to symbolize Oda who was Dazai’s biggest ally and is now dead therefore he cannot physically impact the outcome any further and can’t switch sides. Both Sigma and Chuuya have switched sides (whether willingly is not important right now), so a broken screen representing Chuuya would mean he can’t come back to Dazai side, but that’s still possible.
I find Fyodor’s top screen more intriguing, because it looks as if it was hacked. It displays the letter R (which may stands for Rats, but also for something entirely different), has 3 stripes (and we have 3 doa members present in Meursault now) and blue and yellow colours, which were probably chosen for the aesthetic purposes, but thise are also the colours of the Ukrainian flag and Nikolai is Ukrainian, so it could be a possible reference if Nikolai plays a really big role in this arc. There’s also one more think I’d like to mention and it’s the black markings on the screen. The top one definitely reminds me of an eye, which is a nice symbol for being observed and the 4 of them are being recorded on CCTV. There’s a possibility of someone who we haven’t met watching them as well. Unfortunately the rest of shapes don’t remind me of anything, but if anyone has any ideas what they could symbolize, I’d love to read them!
Another interesting thing is the yellow line, and it’s a really short point of mine, because it simply reminds me of blood and cutting throat, because of the way it’s drawn and positioned. It runes from one side to the other, connecting the two sides and it’s located directed over Fyodor’s and Dazai’s throats. It could be a strong of fate too, but as we know I always think of the most morbid possibilities first haha
Next thing I’d like to mention are the black creatures in the background. Personally I have 2 theories. The first one is that they’re butterflies, which symbolize rebirth and in the context of bsd being save from death’s door. Them being present could suggest Fyodor and Chuuya surving the drowning room even if that seems impossible, escaping the certain death. My other idea is that they’re moths and moths are known as creatures of the night, so it would fit this eerie picture. Also if butterflies symbolize life, moths could be used as a symbolism of death, and I find this implication interesting since in bsd’s context it could mean a sudden death when someone seems safe. In this case, my bet would be Sigma dying in this arc despite not being a target. But who knows.
Now, let’s look at the bottom of the picture where there are hands reaching out to the two characters. I find it a bit ironic, because both Dazai and Fyodor are known for using their abilities through hands, but not necessarily in a good way. Dazai’s ability nullifies other abilities and Fyodor can kill through touch, so they’re not really people one would want to touch. I wonder if those gestures appeared in the manga beforehand, but I’d have to make an extensive research to try and figure this out, because it first glance they don’t remind me of any particular scenes.
Lastly, there’s the tree in the background that seems like it was taken out of the horror movie. The branches, the tied strings, it all created a spooky vibe, and with the context of the yellow line, I’d also add that it could be a hanging tree.
In conclusion
This is without a doubt one of my favourite official artworks. It looks quite scary for the standards of bsd and it makes it even better. I love how characters are positioned, that Dazai, Nikolai and Sigma look directly at the viewer, and Fyodor looks somewhere else (something very characteristic for him to always be scheming), it created a nice effect and will look gorgeous in print. It has this feeling of symmetry, while also not being perfectly symetrical and that’s something that always brings me joy. Oh, and I also aboslutely adore the colours used here, I nearly forgot to add that haha
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bsd analysis#bsd spoilers#bsd manga spoilers#bsd original#I wrote it so fast#hopefully there aren't too many mistakes haha#it's way to pretty and mysterious for me not to write something about it

Thoughts after BSD Season 5
(spoilers ahead)
1. Fyodor is alive
Fyodor has been one of the driving villains and I don’t believe that even his defeat at Meursault is the end of him, especially since all we see is his arm. Further, Sigma was able to touch him and live.
While Sigma is currently unconscious, due to having taken all of the knowledge in Fyodor’s mind into his own, there are several possible ways for him to return. This includes him being able to process through all of the information due to having so little life experience (only three years of memories), and possibly receiving help from Ango and/or Chief Taneda with their own information based abilities.
Back to Fyodor. We still, after all this time, do not know his ability. But now Sigma does—assuming he can wake up. Which means the moment is perfect for a big reveal of Fyodor’s true ability. Would it truly make sense to set up such a big reveal for an already-dead character?
Lastly, Asagiri very rarely kills off significant characters (at least not permanently). So I really doubt we’ve seen the last of Fyodor.
2. New Agency Members and Allies
Ok, so this is exciting! I think there are gonna be a looootttt of new Agency members very very soon (in the aftermath of…the aftermath?). Namely Lucy (officially) and Sigma, but tangentially Aya and Bram (they may or may not be “official” ADA members, but will be closely related). Fitzgerald probably won’t ever officially join the ADA, but he will have established himself more closely as an ally for them. Similarly, the remaining Hunting Dogs will remain distinct from the agency, but I doubt they’ll just disappear after their significance in this last arc.
3. Unresolved aspects
Most things were (seemingly) wrapped up really well with season five/vol 24. And yet…
- Fyodor’s body wasn’t seen (I won’t accept he’s dead until it’s cut into pieces and ritually slated and burned)
- The immediate aftermath of Fukuchi’s death and Bram’s restoration is fully unknown (before the ‘2 hours later’ bit); what happens to the vampires? To the page? To the One Order?
- Fukuzawa’s grief and the aftermath of it, both for him personally and for the agency
- The page—was it fully used? If so, is it powerless now? What happened to it?
- Full “resolution” of the arc, bringing everyone back together
- Did Chuuya get the vampire teeth off?
…
- What the fUCK was that “2 hours later” scene?????????
4. The “two hours later” and other personal theories
**Disclaimer that everything after this point is my own personal theories
- The two hours later scene was absolutely wild, and I don’t have too many theories yet, but it seems most likely that the page (or a page of the book) was used to alter reality yet again, potentially creating an AU? Idk but those outfits are insane and I love them
- The time between Dazai’s “death” and his appearance to Fyodor—Chuuya absolutely was concerned about Dazai and helped (at least partially) carry him to the landing for Fyodor; the idiot insisted on walking by himself to not appear weak in front of Fyodor, but before that? He absolutely was leaning hard on Chuuya (and after too)
- Sigma and Atsushi—so, it’s easy to lose track of in the many twists of Bungou, but the overall story is still moving towards finding the book, in its entirety, rather than just a singular page.
Back in Season 2, Fitzgerald was told by Fyodor that Atsushi was key in finding the book. This still hasn’t been fully explained. Now, many have noticed the similarities between Sigma and Atsushi. In particular—their unique, two-toned eyes. Additionally, Atsushi lacks much background in the same way as Sigma—we know very little about him before the orphanage, or even how he came to the orphanage.
The only pre-orphanage event we know of is from Dead Apple, where Atsushi is shown to have been experimented on by Fyodor and Shibusawa (before killing Shibusawa). But where was he before that? How did they get him? Well…if Fyodor had one page…
I think Atsushi himself, like Sigma, was written out of the Book. Created to play a role he had no idea about from the start. And why is he key to finding the book? Because Atsushi himself is a product of it. He is fundamentally connected to it in a way no one else is (until Sigma).
This also contributes to my theory that Fyodor is not truly dead. He has his own motives, apart from the Decay of Angels, and would use the book for his own purposes (to effectively become unstoppable, though he’d enjoy any attempts to fight against him). He’s nowhere near finished yet.
Anyways this was way too long but AHHHHH waiting till February for the next Manga chapter is going to kill me

Hello there! This is Ticklinglady! ✌
I must inform you, that I have come up with a truly genius idea how to finally beat Fukuchi with his stupid sword. We just need to yet Dazai at him!!!
Imagine Ango heroically arriving on a helicopter to pick up the still wet Mersault gang (this man has time for literally everything in the world except for rest) and then quickly drop them in the airport, where Fukuchi and Fukuzawa are fighting, cause plot twist!! the prison has been in Yokohama all along!!! (We all know Asagiri loves to cram literally everything into this poor city). There Fukuchi sees the unlucky Sigma, who is put up for distraction, and goes: "What the-?!! You're alive??? Has anything ever gone according to the plan?!" and then Fukuzawa fucking yets Dazai at him. Immediately after Fukuzawa uses this valuable moment of confusion to start beating Fukuchi and then a rather fierce, but a lot more equal fight ensues with Dazai being used as a sword to counter time traveling, while Chuuya and Sigma simultaneously go through their personal existential crises and watch this madness to unfold. (Ango gets to sleep on the floor in the background)
Holy shit the mental image of projectile Dazai is really making me crack up aksdfjksdjfksdj he is the ultimate no-more-ability-for-you arrow, soaring through the sky!...hopefully Yosano will be around to patch up his bones afterwards XD also the mental image of Dazai just being swung around to counter the time travel, HELP
I love this for how utterly chaotic it would be lololol, as much as part of me wants some of the characters from Europe to show up with all the Meursault shenanigans, the idea of them just being in Yokohama the whole time is so funny to me (also I kind of forgot until I read this that Sigma is supposed to be dead in their original plan aksdfjksfj that poor dear)
#I also love that this would give Ango a heroic moment#after which he would immediately go to sleep#he needs it tbh the poor dude#ask box#bsd manga spoilers#I guess??

#First Fifteen episode. Came and went. Nothing in particular to note.#I really like fifteen s/kk they're my favourite s/kk. I also really like Fifteen Dazai I find him very likeable and endearing#There's something exceptionally soft about Fifteen s/kk. About the constant reminder of how young they are#I think there's just this very sweet feeling of two people who... Aren't really made to get along‚ but kids WILL be kids.#And it's exceptionally cute to see. Yes they come from different side yes they have clashing personalities but kids will have fun together.#Will mock each other and try to compensate their insecurities with overconfidence and get hang up on silly matters#And it's really so tender!!! It's nice to see them this way.#I think at the end of the day the author did a very good job at portraying that– how young they really are‚ without falling it the trap of–#“making them act adult because they had to grow up too soon”. They *had* to grow up too soon. But they're still kids.#I derail but back to the actual episode /really/ nothing much noteworthy. The animation got a terrible downgrade from the previous–#season and Dead Apple‚ but I suppose it could be worse? There's even a noticeable worsening in the quality of the backgrounds;#they just... Lack all the meticulous details they used to. There's still some occasional animation highlights in the chibi stylized moments#which I find particularly enjoyable.#And that's about it. If I find time for it I'd like to make time to catch up with the manga these days... For now off to the next episode!!#random rambles#Ah‚ that said: Bones' job at rendering kids is quite‚ uhm... Ineffective.#And I've never been a huge fan of Chuuya's va (really just a matter of personal preference)‚ but here they sound even more out of place...

what makes arthur rimbaud your favourite bsd character?
Alright this is the first of my set of asks I'm answering today. And also possibly my most fascinating. Rimbaud is a character I post a lot about, sure, but I'm really curious as to what makes you think he's my favorite? If anything, from my profile, I'd expect someone to assume its Verlaine.
Now, as to why he's a compelling character I like to write posts about? That I can certainly discuss. And its gonna be long, so I'll put a break in here.
Here's the thing. I don't anymore, but when I was first introduced to Rimbaud (when S3 came out) I absolutely hated him. This was back in 2019, but boy oh boy. That's the thing though, he still made me have a pretty strong emotional reaction, even then, before I'd even read the novel.
I want to detour for a second and talk about one of my favorite classes I've taken, with my favorite literature professor. The class itself doesn't matter here, but for it, we read Gone Girl. And if you've never read Gone Girl or seen the movie, all the context you need to know is that almost every single character in that sucks. They're all terrible people. And the next day I came into class literally stomping and screaming about how much I hated how it ended, and everything leading up to it. And my professor laughed and told the class about how after she'd seen the movie she was so mad about it she kicked a wall coming out of the theatre. She had the same reaction as me. And that's exactly why she taught that book. I still think about it often, because really, it was incredible how much emotion I got from it. I was downright pissed. And that's how I knew it was, in my opinion, well written, to get that much out of me.
Circling back to Rimbaud, I didn't really have as strong of a reaction as I did with that book, but he made me uncomfortable. I didn't like him. (I had similar progressions with Dazai, where I used to absolutely hate him, and with Verlaine as well after my first Stormbringer read.) A lot of the characters I originally despised are some of my favorites now. They get some emotion out of me, they give me a reaction, they catch my attention. Sometimes hate makes you think about something far more than more positive feelings do. (Even if that hate later converts into something kinder.)
Rimbaud... isn't my favorite, as far as which characters make me happy or so, but he's very very interesting to me and I do love to think about him. When you think about the grander scheme of BSD, we don't know the full backgrounds of a lot of characters, they just kind of show up as they are and we don't know much about their lives before the series. Rimbaud, we actually know a good deal, about how he had to give up his family and be presumed dead to work as a spy. He's also a little different, because we get a really interesting insight to his inner thoughts via his journal in Stormbringer. We don't get such an open, honest look into a character like that very often in this franchise. Between his lost, memory addled appearance in 15 and virtually his entire life fleshed out in Stormbringer, I didn't hate him anymore. He was interesting. There was so much to work with, and his own motivations and loyalties were fascinating. I made a post earlier about how sure, he tried to kill Chuuya (and Dazai in association) but really, both he and Chuuya were looking into Arahabaki for similar reasons, to unlock their past. All of the times we actually see Rimbaud, he's not that much different from a ghost, including at the end of Stormbringer when he's akin to an actual ghost, but we learn so much about him through his journals and Verlaine's memories.
He's lost, he's trying his best to figure out who he is based on what he could piece together, he's trying to find out what happened to the dear friend he thought he killed, he's likely been a spy during the Great War since his early teens, and he and Verlaine's entire story in the background of Stormbringer is such a special shade of tragic.
So, anon, I hope you kind of got your answer here about why I talk about Rimbaud so much. TL:DR, its hard not to when there's so much to talk about.

the brightest star in the sky 🌌
— g rated, sigma & dazai pre-relationship, 1.7k
- they/them for sigma (Sigma is transfem nby in this au, but this is set pre-transition)
- pre-ADA member sigma
- stargazing, descriptions of hospitals and panic attacks
- day 5 of my fem sigma week event (stars)
- first in series of ada sigma au oneshots
- cross posted on my ao3
The first and last thing Sigma sees is a bright light. No light at the end of the tunnel, bit a blinding, fluorescent glow above them. What feels like needles prickles from head to toe, a dull throb vibrating through every vein in their body, somehow scalding hot and ice cold to the touch. They hear the faint, monotonous drone of a– heart monitor? Sigma was hardly familiar with medical equipment, but they were briefed on it concerning the Casino having a clinic room, and had limited knowledge from the past. They were watching their body behind a mirror, eyes cracked under the blinding– fluorescent?– lights.
A hospital. That was where they were, likely. It was the most they could deduce in the thick fog in their brain. Sigma stirs, their body heavy, all energy drained. Their eyes squint against the harsh light while they try hard to recollect their scattered thoughts.
A noise, someone clearing their throat, cuts through the monotonous buzz surrounding Sigma. They blink a few times, focusing their eyes and moving their head to the side. It's a hard feat, taking what nonexistent energy they have. Dazai smiles back at them. It's Dazai, Dazai is in their hospital room. A thick lump forms in their throat, and they swallow the questions crawling through their mind.
A weak groan bubbles in their throat, and the sound catches Dazai's attention. He speaks with an even tone, a reassuring demeanor carefully crafted through his relaxed posture, “Ah, I was starting to think you'd never wake up! A regular Sleeping Beauty, aren't you? Escaped the kiss of death, it's rather unfortunate, don't you think?”
What an absurd response, Sigma thinks somewhere in their clouded mind. Everything about this strange man was, from his mind to his behavior. It made Sigma more exhausted to even try to figure Dazai out. Their eyebrows knit together, and another low moan is all they can manage to respond with, but Dazai doesn't seem to mind. The book he held in his hand is set on his lap, Sigma doesn't bother trying to be nosy and read it from that far away. Not when their head is pulsing from the inside out. Dazai stands up, striding over to Sigma's bed.
Like the mind reader he is, Dazai begins to answer the string of questions circling through Sigma's mind. “You were in a coma for a few weeks. After that rat Dostoevsky left you for dead, Chuuya and I were able to take him down. The others took care of the rest. Everyone is in remission now.” His arms are spread out by now, and the high, overacted lilt to his voice grates Sigma's ears. They shift, pulling at the IV connected to their arm without meaning.
Dazai reaches out, putting a firm hand onto their shoulder, “Don't do that, you'll rip it out.” The tone of his voice drops, and Sigma can tell he is speaking in earnest now, “Things are still being figured out. I was able to get Yosano to help you, so that knife wound won't bother you.”
And he was right, they noted. Of all of the bone-deep aches coursing through Sigma's body, none of it feels at all like a stab wound. Yosano was the doctor, they were sure. None of this was important, though, and Sigma knit their brows together with hard focus, any effort at isolating their thoughts.
Sensing that Sigma could understand him just fine, Dazai continued. “Rest for a bit, alright? You can fill me in later, I've done my part."
There is nothing left in Sigma to refute him, so they reluctantly nod. Any conversation after that goes unheard by Sigma, blurring in the background along with their vision as the exhaustion overtook them.
The world continues to be dark, even after Sigma's eyes are open. It takes them a minute to register that it is late at night, or early in the morning, they can't begin to tell. A soft grunt escapes their lips as they arouse in a stir. It takes a valiant effort to brace their arms against each side of the hospital bed and pull themself upright. The one positive note Sigma can make is that they can at least sit up now. To Sigma's surprise, Dazai is still in the same chair as before. Sigma can see the vague shape of him in the darkness.
They struggle to untangle themself from all the wires, but Sigma takes caution as to not yank their IV needle. The room is eerily silent. The long twisted shadows of the surrounding medical equipment spurs an unfamiliar, dreadful sensation in the pit of their stomach. Sigma has dealt with being thrust into alien situations countless times, it's one of the simple things they experience being in their place. The uncertainty of it plummets them into emotional turmoil they know all too well.
Sigma makes the brilliant decision to slide off of the hospital bed, using the IV pole as a form of support. It slips from their grip a few times while Sigma tries to keep themself steady, though the effort proves failed. A soft thump is heard when they finally collapse into the chair next to Dazai's, all energy depleted by that little action. Hospital chairs certainly are uncomfortable. The cheap material sticks to Sigma's legs through the thin hospital gown material despite the low temperature of the room. They push the IV pole away from them finally to beside their chair.
Sigma folds their hands neatly in their lap, surveying their surroundings. Though the room is bathed in shadows, a bit of light spills in from the moon above, casting just enough so Sigma can see the room. Now that they're up and awake, they can really take it in. The room is falsely welcoming. A sterile smell lingers in the air accompanied by the blank wash of the room itself. Everything was white, except for some beige accents like the chairs, the small table between them, and the average looking painting of a flower vase above the hospital bed. Their eyes sweep over the room with disinterest until they look out the window. Sigma can only assume they're in Yokohama, which is evident by the amount of light pollution. Not that it was an obvious enough assumption to make beforehand, on account of Dazai's information earlier. The sky is muddled between hazy artificial whites and yellows against the stark black above. Blurred together in an unrecognizable mass. The stars are hardly visible beyond the clouds. It is a sight causes them to sigh.
A sudden interjection is heard, a sharp contrast to the thick silence from before, “I'm glad to see you're up and moving.”
Sigma's head whips over their shoulder to face the tired smile on Dazai's face. They swallow before they nod once, blinking at him. “You scared me.”
“I could say the same. My apologies, I'm a light sleeper. I haven't gotten any rest, cleaning up this mess has been so busy.” It's an awfully honest statement coming from Dazai. Sigma can't find any indication that he is trying to play a little game, which takes a bit of weight off of their chest to worry about.
“It sounds like it.” No other words can be said right now, so they relent to stare back out the window to avoid conversation.
Dazai, on the other hand, does the opposite, and continues to prod Sigma with a question, “Is there something interesting out there? I suppose you've probably never been around a big city before.”
Hesitantly, Sigma shakes their head. The reality is they haven't really done much in their life. What has there been to do? Three years of qualms over their own existence and place in this distant world doesn't exactly leave much time to experience regular life. A few awkward moments pass before Sigma is too antsy to let the silence hand over, “I was trying to see the stars.”
“The stars?” Dazai rubs the back of his stiffened neck, stretching his limbs from the ache of napping in a chair. Sigma watches him closely, and Dazai returns the favor back.
It's unclear what either of them are searching for anymore, so Sigma confirms his inquiry. “Mhm. I think they're pretty.” That was at least one of the things Sigma had time to do. Staring up at the sky, some silly attempt at escapism into their own imagination.
“I see.” The simplicity in that response can only irk Sigma. Their grievances dissipate quickly, for once, when Dazai continues. “Do you actually know anything about them?”
It's a difficult thing to answer. Knowledge about the nature of the world is understandably limited for Sigma. They start, “Oh, not much.” The conversation can't go dicey again, or else Sigma will die, so continue to keep up the impression that they can still feel their own limbs. That they aren't about to collapse under the weight of their own situation in front of someone else. “Um– they make shapes?”
Dazai squints his eyes against the darkness before a look of recognition forms on his face. “Constellations.”
“Con– constellations.” The word falls messily off of Sigma’s tongue. “Yes, those, thank you. I know a few by their shape, the um– the spoon one?”
Their face flushed when Dazai laughed at them. It was ridiculous to even try conversing with him, everything was a joke to this man. Thoughts race through Sigma's head while they curl inwards on themself, but those thoughts are quieted when Dazai's flurry of giggles dies down. “It's called The Big Dipper. There's the Little Dipper too, connected to the North Star.” A confused expression must be visible upon Sigma's features because Dazai continues on, “The very bright one, that you use for navigation.”
“I see.” At a loss for words, Sigma echoes Dazai's earlier remark. “Thank you for the information.”
“You're so formal about everything, you remind me of Kunikida.” Fondness colors Dazai’s tone now at the thought of his friend and partner.
A wall is put up in Sigma’s mind as they nod, the action catching Dazai's attention. He leans forward in his chair a bit, easing some of Sigma's worries as he speaks. “Don't worry, you'll be introduced to the rest of my coworkers some time soon. I know you've met Atsushi.”
Sigma casts a glance back out the window, before they nod curtly. “I would like to meet them.”

BSD season 5
Just finished BSD this season. Pretty much my AotS with how it manages to keep me tense and excited throughout the season.
Easily peak BSD so far. The last episode is tense cause it feel like just waiting for what horrible plot twist will happen next, because when the last time good thing happen? Well it didn't and everything went alright for the gang save for the epilogue.
I didn't expect Fyodor to be completely outmaneuvered by Dazai like that. I always peg him as a bit smarter than Dazai all this time considering their track record at each other. But I guess they were roughly equal with Dazai has more advantage due his trustworthy friends. Also apparently Fyodor being in prison on purpose was less his plan and more Ochi trying to make him less a trouble so I guess Dazai did win his last bout against Fyodor. Though it also a bit stretching my suspension that Fyodor didn't notice Chuuya was acting all this time but maybe he just grew overconfident with his plan. I'm glad that it shows that the mafia isn't pushover at least.
I'm pretty sure this isn't over for Fyodor. We still don't know his ability or his background which is real telling as to why he will come back. My guess is either he possess Sigma, get resurrected, or he just faking his death inside the helicopter.
Speaking of Sigma I'm not sure what in store for him next. Is he dead? Or will Dazai get back and save him somehow? Dazai seems to like him at least plus there's also about him wanting to join the detective agency.
Aya was the real hero this time (though lets also give credit to Kunikida who not only saved her life before but also the one who inspired justice within her). Now she got vampire dad which is pretty slick.
Kyouka and Yosano didn't show up in this arc which is just weird. Could at least show them doing something else. I thought they were going to fight Akutagawa or Teruko in this arc but nope. Granted its still better than become hostage like Kunikida I guess.
Ochi's character was not what I expected. I thought he'd just typical lunatic madman trying to change the world but its not the case. The last ep really changes the perspective of his character and shows his nobility. I feel like his end and his character is treated with respect which is nice. Fukuzawa screaming at the end really hits my emotion. It just tragic and set the mood to the end of this arc.
And the epilogue, really 2 hours afterwards? You can't even give them a break. At this rate they start overwork themselves like Touma from Toaru.
Anyway good season, my AotS, yadda yadda. Can't wait for next season but I'm also in the mood for watching BSD Wan instead.
