How I feel about this character: Gay spyentist who I love very much

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Querl, Condo, and Brin (idk it came to me in a dream once don't ask)

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Ayla, Jenni, Tinya and Reep

My unpopular opinion about this character: He hates sweets, just can't stomach them. He prefers bitter and salty foods.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we would have touched on his sketchy connection with Earthgov more. I mean, he got pulled into being a spy for them when he was REALLY young. Who knows what he was made to do or how much of a hold they STILL have over him. We should have got at least a few more chapters exploring that connection and how it would have affected his relationships (mainly with jenni) a bit more.

How I feel about this character: I only really know the pzh version of him and I think he was a gold mine of wasted potential.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Lyle, Salu, Jenni, Garth (the last three because of the continued plot for him that I've made up in my mind, not because of any cannon)

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't think I have one

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: He should have shown back up, had the legion help free him from Earthgov's hold, joined the legion, and then became the leader of the espionage squad. We should have also got a chapter or two of him trying to reconnect with his family after being presumed dead for so long.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't actually know if this is unpopular or not but she should have stayed a snake and there was absolutely no reason to make her look humanoid. It was an absolutely ridiculous plotline that they "had" to make her look like that.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Wish she would have stayed a snake and I wish her and Imra had more of a relationship.

Supergirl Burying & erasing lgbt characters

You may not have noticed it before but supergirl is guilty of erasing a few lgbt characters & guilty of killing off even more

They get away with it because most of them are back ground characters out of 6 confirmed lgbt characters 4 of them were killed. 3 of them were killed in brutal ways only 1 got a rather decent death.

I’m going to break down each character killed & erased

Fake Iris’s dads: they were the first lgbt characters that supergirl killed off. The sg writers & flash writers that is. They died in the big finale shoot out. Their deaths could easily have been skipped since the plot no longer needed any of the musical universe characters

The prison warden: after being introduced as a crooked warden & after Kara dropped that he had a husband he was brutally killed by Otis graves. The plot would have been the exact same if they had simply knocked him out instead of killing him

Female brainy: a big thing about brainy’s episode was us getting female brainy being gay & having been married. She died by the end though being obsorbed into our brainy. This death is harder to avoid but if the writers had thought it out they could have sent each brainy to new worlds

There are also characters like Livewire & Pestilence who were heavily implied to be gay then killed off but since that was never stated as explicitly canon I can’t say whether or not it is a full bury your gays

Now for the erased lgbt characters

This is a shorter list thankfully but only slightly shorter

Brainiac 5: yeah not female brainy we’re talking main universe male brainy who is known to be bi in comics something that the show seems to be completely unwilling to confirm in the two & a half seasons that brainy has been on the show

Maxima: yes queen maxima yah the one that in every old show chased after marrying Superman we’ll back in 2015 or 2014 she had a giant coming out arc in supergirl comics an arc that supergirl quickly ignored so that instead they could include a joke about maxima wanting to mate Clark a joke that could have been just switched to her making the same offer to Kara but quickly being defeated in the fight

Finally we reach Ayla Ranzz: aka lightning lass Ayla was name dropped as Winn’s wife. Ayla is famous for being one of comics very first lgbt characters & one of the very first lgbt heroes shown in a relationship she has had a long running romance with shrinking violet Salu Digby she’s bi but as everyone knows if you don’t say or show a character as lgbt then they aren’t. One of Winn’s many unnescissary scenes could easily have included a joke about his wife having an ex girlfriend but they didn’t even do that

Now if this makes you as mad as it makes me then sign the petition to change supergirls treatment of lgbt characters & fandoms

LightningLad may have lost an arm, but he got his sister back, and in a way his brother too.

And he got a pretty good upgrade thanks to Brainy and Vi.

“I’ll be right back, Kell, keep an eye on Mekt, Bouncy, keep an eye on Ayla, and Kell,” Garth hums as he walks out.

He finds the two younger legionaries in Brainy’s “room” on the ship.

Both of them are sitting on Brainy’s bed, ShrinkingViolet has a pillow tucked under her chin.

“...while I agree with you on principle I have to point out—“ Brainy pauses mid sentence when Garth pulls them both into a hug.

“Thanks, you two,” Garth pulls away, smiling, a hand on each of their shoulders.

“Uh...you’re welcome?” Vi smiles back, though a little confused.

“For helping save Ayla?” Querl questions.

“For...everything, okay? You two did a lot of good today, and I just...I want to tell you both I’m proud of you,” Garth explains, before ruffling both of their hair.

“It’s what we do,” Vi giggles.

“It’s nice to know you appreciate us,” Brainy hums.

“We all do, promise,” Garth assures, before headed back out.

Jan’s face is pudgy, dappled with the dark shadows he’d worn since his planet had been lost. His hair falls in long curls, tangled more often then not. His eyes are brilliant blue, always drifting off, never quite focusing the way everyone else thinks they should. And, with everything else, Jan looks young. His youth shines from every pore, and makes him beautiful, more so than any other Legionnaire.

Shvaughn knows this. She sees her ‘little best friend’’s face. She has honorary older friend front line seats to the normal show of twelve year old screw-ups, which even her little angel is subject too. She loves him as is. She loves Jan as Jan.

So then why does she sometimes look at his face and see something completely different? Where does this face come from, with its thick, defined lines, strong, broad jaw, with its dark, almost all consuming shadows, and its piercing eyes that are always on guard, and its hair shorn close to its skull. Why does this face strike her with such longing?

Shvaughn does not know. And if she believes herself, she does not care. She tells herself that her Jan is all she needs. Her young delicate Jan, and not the the fading reflections of some older, wiser person that in some piece of her soul, she will know until she dies.

The text is short. It is decisive. It has a sparce greeting, and states its purpose, and sender’s name with no distracting noise. It is by far the most perfectly formatted text Querl has ever received.

But that is not what he focuses on.

No, interestingly enough, his attention is zeroed in on the name: Lyle Norg. Where had he heard that before? The name invoked feelings of annoyance, embarassment, and, the strongest feeling, companionship. How odd.

For perhaps the first or second time in his life, Querl takes a chance. In all technicality, he could help the biochemist with his rather unique problem remotely with minimal trouble. But instead, Querl Dox decides, with an elating thrill of excitement, that maybe, just maybe, if this Lyle Norg would come to Legion HQ, something good might happen.

He has no idea.

Sometimes Ayla feels eyes traveling down her spine, a gaze as warm, and gentle, and familiar as her brothers, if more sexual.

For the longest time she had no idea just who was staring at her. She didn’t try too hard to find out, as the gaze was distinctly kind and familiar, like what she’d guess her mum felt when her dad was staring with his heart filled eyes from across the kitchen.

Eventually, she does discover the culprit. She makes the discovery completely on impulse, as she pulls her arms through her the front of her Spark suit, she glances, behind her, and meets the eyes of shy, blushing LeViathan, whose gaze feels like love and home.

Something within Ayla blooms.
