"What the heck happened you?!"

"Do you actually not remember what happened?"

"No! I don't! Did Eggman attack?!"

Sonic's smile turned into a frown as he and Tails exchange looks. "I think I should break it to him."

Silver looked ready to spring into action. "Break what to me?! He didn't start another war, did he?!"

Sonic looks back at Silver and gestures for him to calm down. "Of course not! This has nothing to do with Egghead, for once."

Now how should he break it to him..? "Silver, you remember that one adventure I told you about? The one where the planet split apart?"

"Yeah?" He wondered where Sonic was going with this.

"And have I told you I became this big, hairy Werehog thing every night during this adventure?"

"I remember you telling me that, yeah. Where are you going with this?"

"Well, Silver," Sonic moved a hand off one of his arms to point at Silver. "that's what you turned into last night, and you miiight've gone a little wild."

Silver stared at Sonic for moment, then laughs. "Ha! You're joking! There's no possible way for me to become a Werehog! Nice trick, Sonic, but I'm not falling for that!"

"Silver, I'm not kidding around."

"Uh huh, sure, and I'm the king of Soleanna. Now tell me what really happened last night."

Alright, since he doesn't believe him... "Tails, do you have any security footage from last night saved onto your device?"

Tails nods as he pulls the device out and puts in some inputs. "I don't exactly have the footage saved, but I can connect to the security cameras that caught everything. I just need to rewind to the part before Silver turned."

Silver scoffs. "You guys are really pulling up all the stops on this prank, aren't you? Keep trying all you want, I'm not going to pull a Knuckles and fall for it."

"Silver, this is not a prank." Tails told sternly as he flips the device around and plays the footage.

The psychic hedgehog crossed his legs as he started watching the footage, not really that interested, but he'll humor them.

It started with him and Sonic arriving at the Workshop late-afternoon. Nothing wrong there, then it fast-forwards to when the sun starts setting, still nothing, until he saw himself stepping into view, his interest slightly grew once he saw himself show up.

He could see he had a hand on his chest. Now that he thinks about it, he does recall feeling chest pains that slowly got worse. He puts that hand in the same spot as even now he can still kind of feel that pain.

He saw himself double over after the dark energy burst from his chest and enveloped him, then transform into that... thing. He couldn't believe his own eyes. Sonic and Tails were telling the truth after all...

The footage didn't end there, it transitioned to a different security camera that captured Sonic and his transformed self's fight, a fight he has no recollection of. It got to the point where Silver slashed Sonic's chest and somehow left him immobilized.

The footage ends after Tails used his blaster on him to knock him out to save Sonic. At least that explains why he felt so crappy when he woke up.

Sonic turned to Silver, giving him a serious glare. "Believe us now?"

Silver doesn't say anything. He was speechless. There was no denying it now. Everything he watched just then... it really happened. He really turned into that... Werehog thing Sonic described. He really wanted that footage to be fake, doctored even, but it wasn't.

He moves his hands to stare at the now gloved fingertips that once had bare, sharp claws. Those claws... those things could've done more than just graze Sonic, they would've killed him.

And he could've if it weren't for Tails stopping him. He really did become a monster...

His hands start shaking, then the rest of him starts shaking. Most things don't faze Silver, anything that others consider frightening he deals with head on, but this... how can he deal with this when he's the monster??

Sonic eased up on the seriousness when he sees how much Silver is quaking. Never has he seen him so shaken up like this. "Whoa, Silver, are you alright? I get if this is a lot to take in."

"It was me..." His gaze shifts from his fingertips to the bandages wrapped around Sonic's chest. "I was the one that did this to you..."

He looks away and grabs his head with his hands. "But I don't remember doing that! I don't remember our fight! I just remember my chest starting to hurt, then everything else starting to hurt! I can't remember anything past that!"

Sonic gestures for him to calm down. "Hey, calm down, bud! It's not a big deal!"

Silver throws his hands down and gestures wildly. "Not a big deal?! I almost killed you! If it weren't for Tails, I would have!"

"Silver, you said it yourself. You remember nothing about our battle. You had no control over your actions. I know you wouldn't attack me like a-"

"Mindless monster..?" Silver finished as he gripped one of his arms and lowered his ears.

Sonic wanted to deny that, but Silver wouldn't be wrong. His behavior was pretty similar to the Dark Gaia monsters he had fought before sometime ago.

But this is Silver. He's not one of those monsters. He probably only lost control because he had never transformed into a Werehog before. Sonic knows Silver can control this form, he just needs a little help.

And lucky for Silver, Sonic is the perfect guy for the job.

"Silvs, what happened last night was a fluke. I know you're not some mindless monster. You can control yourself, I know you can, you just need a bit of help."

"Help?" Silver raised a brow. "How can you help me with this??"

"If anyone can help you with your Werehog problem, I'm the best you got."

Sonic is right. He's his best bet if Silver wants help with his Werehog problem. "I guess I can't argue with that, but unlike me, you never lost control. What makes you think I wouldn't lose control next time?"

Sonic wraps an arm around Silver's shoulder. "Because I trust ya'. I know you're not one to give in to the darkness so easily. So, what do you say?"

Silver gave it some thought. "If you really believe I can control my Werehog thing," He gave Sonic a confident smile as his ears perk up. "then I'm willing to give it a shot!"

Sonic grinned. "That's what I like to hear!"

Tails was less than enthused. "Sonic, are you sure about this??"

"We can trust Silver. You trusted me whenever I became a Werehog, didn't ya'? Rest assured Tails, everything will turn out fine! It always does, doesn't it?"

Well, he's not wrong, but that doesn't really elicit a lot of confidence in Sonic’s plan. "Right... I'll take your word on it."

"Great! Now that that's settled." Sonic removes his arm from Silver's shoulder, then crosses his arms and frowns. "Tell us how Dark Gaia's energy got into you in the first place. Egghead's not up to another one of his schemes is he?"

"Nah. It was some gray Mobian with sunglasses. They zapped the energy into me somehow and said some nonsense. Well, I guess what they said wasn't complete nonsense."

Silver reels back and facepalms when he recalls an important detail. "Ugggh! They even said I would transform every night, so I'm gonna turning again tonight aren't I?! Gaiadammit!"

"At least we got plenty of time to prep. Good to know Baldy McNosehair's not up to anything, but a gray Mobian wearing sunglasses did this to you? How did they even get Dark Gaia energy anyway?"

"Did you catch their name?"

"No. I threw them over the horizon without asking questions after giving them a ten second headstart."

Beat.

"Pffft! Ha! Of course! I would never put that past ya', Silvs."
